Ok so I just finished rewatching amc’s iwtv pilot for like the bajillionth time and I just want to ramble about the pointe du luc sibling dynamics for a moment.
A lot of people always talk about Louis & Paul, and I understand why coz their time together was short and Paul’s death was very impactful — but for me personally, Louis’ and Grace’s relationship will always hit the most.
You can tell that’s they’re very close and have been since they were children. I love how much louis takes care of her, and similarly I love grace’s #ally behaviour. I mean, it’s 1910 — it’s pretty much illegal to be gay and very looked down upon,,, and I don’t think grace ever knows for sure, but there are some lines that she suggests she guesses it, especially later down the line.
Even as Paul dies, their mother blames Louis, and Louis has distanced himself from the family, Grace still gives Louis the benefit of the doubt and supports him. Lmao when he turns up in those sunnys (which is basically a walk-in ‘I’m gay’ flag according to Florence pointe du luc lol) and talks about Lestat (who Grace clearly doesn’t like very much, as in her perspective he took Louis away from the family) she supports and confides in him.
It isn’t until Louis breaks down her front door and threatens her that she actively stops supporting him. And the grave scene where she shows Louis his gravestone makes me absolutely bawl every time I watch it — because from her viewpoint, both her brothers died that day.
And yes it is frustrating to see Louis self-sabotage this relationship like that but it does make sense. Louis has been in a toxic relationship, has to hide and deal all with all the new turmoil of becoming a vampire and is in a constant state of self-loathing. But Grace doesn’t see that, she sees a brother who abandoned, hurt and threatened her when she needed him most.
I think their relationship is reflective of the types of familial relationship (or rather lack thereof) a lot of queer ppl in that time had, especially queer black folks and poc. And it is written and acted so beautifully I love the writers.

thing about the ending of hadestown i’ve never heard anyone talk about:
there is actually a glimmer of hope there. not the fruitless one of that, if only we tell the story one more time, it might work out. a far more tangible one, actually. the hope that hadestown might fall. that hades is loosening his iron grip and that the wall will be torn down, that the seasons will be restored
and the most cruel part of it? it will never come to fruition. because the seed has only just been sown when orpheus loses eurydice, and we are so hung up on their tragedy that the narrative resets then. the chance of their love working out maybe just this once sacrifices the progress made in hadestown, in hades himself. and that is what dooms them to fail, because in resetting their tragedy we also reset what caused it, never allowing it to work out because hades’ softened heart becomes harsh and controlling once again. by not letting go of our grief we are dooming the possibility of what could be

Thanks for the brain worms, Lovely Runner. Now I have theories
I don't watch a lot of currently airing dramas and when I do, I don't usually post anything aside from 'cuuuuute' or 'paaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnn". But because I can no longer be normal about waiting for things, I have let Lovely Runner consume my mind and now I have thoughts about it.
Because the real cool thing about this show (and about kdramas in general) is that it's not just a quirky romcom about two clowns falling in awkward love with each other- it's a murder mystery whodunnit revolving around how Sun Jae died the night he reunited with Im Sol. It's a kdrama but giving '7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hugo' vibes where the protagonist has to figure out who the murderer was in what looks like a suicide while inhabiting a body that's not their's. But in this case, Im Sol has yet to realize that it's a murder. And now I have a Theory.
And it's that Im Sol was the objective the entire time. If not the target, then the focus of the killer. The murderer, whoever it was, just wanted Sun Jae out of the way because he knew that if Sun Jae managed to re-establish a connection with Im Sol again, it would be harder to prey/stalk/possibly murder her.
Because I have watched ep 1 god only knows how many times, and it actually looks as though the phone was deliberately knocked out of her hand. I've seen some theories float around that it might have been a future version of Sun Jae but why would he do that to the woman he loved, knowing what she would endure with her cell phone out of commission (unable to call for help, stranded in the cold with a broken wheelchair). It makes more sense that it was someone with more sinister motives, someone who definitely didn't want her to be able to call for help. It would also make her more willing to get into the most convenient, immediate form of transportation that happened to be passing by. Like...a taxi.
I also think that this stalker/murderer would have been doing this since her high school days because of the fact that someone in a taxi had been following her in episode 4. And what a parallel that would be- just as Im Sol admired to Sun Jae since she was a teenager right into her thirties (and vice versa with Sun Jae having been in love with her from the beginning to the present day) we have another character who has also been obsessed with Im Sol, but not in the sweet, innocent way she was devoted to Sun Jae but in a dangerously obsessed fashion that's more "if I can't have you nobody can''. The night of her accident could have been her stalker's attempt at confessing his "love" only for it to spiral into a kidnapping attempt. Im Sol attempts to run away, Sun Jae thwarts her attacker but it all ends with Im Sol too traumatized to remember that night and resentful of Sun Jae for rescuing her. Sun Jae, full of guilt, keeps his distance and Im Sol is without her protector. And her stalker/Sun Jae's future murderer has been hovering in the margins of her life, satisfied that since she's wheelchair bound and without Sun Jae, she was helpless and 'his'.
But then Sun Jae comes back into her life, Sun Jae who is both a rival and someone who has a habit of saving Im Sol again and again. So, Sun Jae has to be gotten rid of for Im Sol to be truly vulnerable and alone again.
Do I have a theory to who this is? Not really. No one really stands out at this time. Maybe it's a random member from Sun Jae's swim team. Or Sun Jae's swim rival who hates him. But I think he and the CEO guy could just be red herrings for who the actual killer is. I don't think it's Kim Tae Sung. I do think Kim Tae Sung encountered the killer before and the reason he was "expelled" was because he found out the killer's part in Im Sol's accident and was trying to avenge her. It's a little too convenient that he disappeared from the scene after Im Sol's accident because of a 'fight'.
Anyways this could be completely wrong, but I'm having fun guessing. By guessing, I mean suffering waiting for the next ep.
PS Why are 19 year old Sol's bangs so much more cringe when she's not being possessed by her 34 year old self? Kim Tae Sung was telling the truth when he said she got cuter when she became Grandma Sol again.

you know, people not taking into account the logistics and practicality as to why some things were cut from the show does irk me a little. like, maybeeee the reason why they're cutting some tiny scenes or background moments or even heavy action scenes is that they don't have an unlimited budget? or that the writers/creators don't have full creative control and are working with what they're given because they still have to answer to the people above them who only truly care about profit? idk, maybe that's something to be considered too.
do i think the show is perfect? no. but what we've got given so far actually looks great, is staying very true to the characters and is servicing the story.
but i am still mad about the missing pink poodle and zebra though.

The Devil Judge is incredible because it keeps making me want to believe and root for people that clearly shouldn't be believed or rooted for

so in s7 ep3 "Pimemento", if you go to this timestamp (16:15- 16:32) and you listen real close to the music in the tattoo shop, you'll hear one of the vulture's band's songs playing in the background, uhh what was it called again? mom's in the shower? yeah anyways i might be wrong but i thought it was pretty cool :3

Can we just talk about how freaking cool the Teen Wolf intro is?
No but like seriously. Season 1 just had the title card, so when I got to Season 2 and it had THAT intro, I was like "duuuuuude".
So anyways yeah I'm still going strong on the whole "Teen Wolf" obsession. Thanks for that, internet.
I'm on Season 2, Episode 5 and I can already tell I'm gonna start putting this show above my homework, so...oops.
Wish me luck.

the place adventure time has in just culture in general is so so funny to be because it's so prevalent whether through just merch with characters on it or designs directly referencing the style/aesthetics and yet most people have not actually seen the show past season 1-5 (including me until like a year ago!) so if you try to explain any post s5 adventure time plot where it basically became a complete different show you sound fucking insane. they don't even know about princess bubblegum's gay cousin chicle. they don't even know about my dear friend fern.
