gyutaro’s fingers grazed the edge of the ornate box containing a beautifully wrapped gift. his usual stern demeanor softened as he glanced at the clock, noting that the time was nearly perfect. it was your birthday, and he had planned something special, though his expression rarely revealed his excitement. after all, he wanted to make sure you felt cherished on this special day.

he had secretly arranged for a night out in a serene, secluded spot far from the hustle and bustle of the demon-infested world. as the sun began to set, he took you by the hand, guiding you to a lavishly decorated spot in the woods. lanterns hung from the trees, casting a soft glow that danced in the twilight. a lavish picnic was laid out, with an assortment of your favorite foods carefully prepared by gyutaro himself.

"surprise," gyutaro said, a rare, genuine smile gracing his lips. "i thought we'd spend your birthday somewhere nice."

you were overwhelmed with joy as you took in the setting, the effort and care he put into making the evening special evident in every detail. gyutaro was not one for flowery words, but his actions spoke volumes.

as the night wore on, the two of you enjoyed a delightful meal under the stars. gyutaro’s usual reserved nature softened, allowing his genuine affection to shine through. he regaled you with stories from his past, some dark and some surprisingly endearing, all while keeping a watchful eye on you to ensure you were comfortable and happy.

later, as the evening drew to a close, the mood turned more intimate. gyutaro’s touches were gentle, his fingers lingering on your skin as he leaned in close. he teased you playfully, his words laced with a mischievous edge, though he kept the more intense moments for later. his affection was palpable, a mix of warmth and teasing that left you yearning for more.

gyokko had meticulously planned your birthday surprise, ensuring every detail was perfect. he had chosen a luxurious private suite in a high-end, hidden away resort. from the moment you entered the suite, you were enveloped in opulence. elegant decorations adorned the room, and a sumptuous meal was waiting for you.

“do you like it?” gyokko asked, his voice a velvety purr. “i spared no expense for your special day.”

you were dazzled by the extravagance and gyokko’s meticulous attention to detail. the meal was exquisite, a feast of rare delicacies and decadent treats that showcased gyokko’s devotion to making your birthday unforgettable.

as the night progressed, gyokko’s demeanor became more relaxed. he seemed to enjoy watching you savor the night he had prepared. his usual arrogance was replaced with an almost childlike excitement to see you pleased.

You've mentioned predacons a few times, so I had a weird thought—how would a seeker go about courting a predacon? along with how do Seekers and Predacons generally interact with each other? WE NEED PREDACON SEEKERS HYBIRDSSS

Anyway so first of all, courting predacons is typically hella not a vibe for the flock because predacons’ favorite snacks happen to be seekers!

However shit hits the fan sometimes and there are cases where people say fuck it we ball

Firstly, predacons are apex predators, before their extinction they primarily hunted huge Cybertronian life and seekers. Predacons were apexs and seekers just so happened to sit in the middle of the food chain because of that. But this doesn’t mean seekers didn’t also pose a threat to predacons(who were solitary hunters while seekers hunted in packs). A large seeker could be feared by a small predacon and well you have the off chance that a predacon would take interest in a seeker as a possible partner.

Now seekers are stubborn in courtship, they typically aren’t very obvious about it and you have to pay attention. Most seekers do try to extend a warning to others by marking plating via scratches or bites, I imagine they would do the same to a predacon they happened to be courting. Gifting shiny or soft items, dancing, ‘singing’, would also be a way of courting. Few also fight to court. It depends on the seeker, but marking will always be involved! It’s how trines first establish the want to bond, how parents keep track of offspring, how friends establish relationships.

A seeker and a predacon courting however, would probably be more fight and gift, rather than dance and sing if you get my drift.

Predacons totally have a thing for getting their afts kicked, Predaking basically said it himself lmao

her ancient name was Mesotes! yeah like the pvp sage spell BUT i chose it before i unlocked sage so i was just there like 🫵 eyyyyy

(funnier considering irma is a sage/whm main these days. sage especially. symbolic storytelling is a game and i'm winning)

so, mesotes is the name of the aristotelian concept of "just middle"—harmony, balance, all that; mostly used in moral philosophy, especially when it comes to judgement and justice as a whole. i picked this one because irma as a character has always been centered around the idea of balance and justice (red magic 4ever), but also because emet-selch is extremely #plato coded and that endwalker as a whole (the elpis section in particular) is very much built like a tragedy (in aristotles' terms) and i found it very funny to go with the flow here (pun somewhat intended)

[considering what we know of the ancient world, aka: family ties are clearly not emphasized, while professional relationships and the concept of mentorship are really important; closest equivalent in the sundered world being sharlayan, of course] mesotes-the-ancient was emet-selch's apprentice in her youth. i have this headcanon that it was required by law and/or custom for anyone to take on an apprentice, especially if they occupied an important role in the community, and that this was a truly important bond (the likes of which do not really have an equivalent in our world) akin to a family one, and with responsibility and respect on both sides. mesotes was a really gifted mage and learned [black] magic under his guidance. knowing emet-selch, he was a stern and rather demanding teacher, but actually got attached to her despite his complaints that he had better things to do with his time <- she knew that and they both had a lot of respect for one another. possibly he was thinking of her as his successor for the 3rd seat.

which made it all the more surprising when she announced that she would start serving under venat (who was then acting as azem). he took it, shall we say, pretty badly. she didnt mean to hurt him, and the ancients' society valued learning and discovery before anything else, so his grief wasnt socially justified either, which i think was the root of his outward exasperation and bitterness mixed with genuine fondness for azem (as we see it in-game).

venat and emet-selch also were often, politically, on opposite sides within the convocation, i feel, which added a layer of betrayal to the whole thing. anyway things went really well with venat (who also taught her white magic among, most likely, other disciplines) and mesotes eventually took her place among the convocation, as azem. emet-selch felt a mix of pride and annoyance about the whole thing (pretty predictably)

personality-wise, she was a really stable and well-balanced person (what it says on the tin....), with qualities that both emet-selch and venat valued. she was really deeply attached to the social customs of the world she lived in, and respectful of her elders and the rules established before her time—but didn't hesitate to question the validity of certain rules and certainly didn't value order more than human life. she also had an independent and daring streak which tended to manifest in surprising ways, and was a generally grounding and warm presence despite being rather quiet; she was not at all outwardly eccentic. as i mentioned before, she held emet-selch in deep regard, and always considered his point of view, even though she was closer to venat towards the end. she often acted as the bridge between them, and for that reason (on top of being very young by ancient standards and having similar personalities and priorities) was really intimate with elidibus (though not on romantic terms). all of this led to her leaving amaurot never to return during the final days: she fervently opposed the summoning of zodiark and the sacrifice of all the future life on the star to bring back those who gave their lives to summon Him, but also refused to cast her lot with venat's followers. she was trying to find an alternate path, outside of this dichotomy, when she died, and was sundered [not quite sure about the details of her death here]. she especially opposed the idea of elidibus becoming zodiark's heart

even after the sundering, emet-selch (whose tempering made him all the more bitter towards hydaelyn) tried to "save" her by recruiting her for the ascian's cause, over and over again—his grief making him a lot more narrow-minded and gradually more authoritative than he was as an ancient, as he saw her allegiance as his rightful property and felt that he was the only one who could save her and return the both of them to their righteous place. the original feelings he had for her (much more generous and fair) progressively soured and festered over time. this is eventually what led him to irma as a child in occupied ala mhigo, but that's a story for another time (:

Ok so I've finally played the haze story and the premier was ok, nothing special, nothing bad about it (same way I've always felt about alice's other books so maybe this writing style just doesn't resonate with me) but I still have high hopes for this story...it has so much opportunity to get better

Things I didn't like:

Alice should have explored on Lada and veraya's relationship more, they didn't feel close to me, so much so that I wasn't moved by the sister's death at all

Dragan - what's this guy's problem??? No seriously, I hate this "boy is mean to you because he secretly likes you" CHILDISH ASS TROPE. It's not even a sort of dislike that I can digest from a red flag, no he is full on being mean and insulting & looks like he hates mc with every fiber of his being (I mean he literally clenches his jaw when he sees her coming) I don't like this (and this is coming from someone who loves romancing red flags) I really hope he has a GREAT excuse for why he acts that way other than he has a secret crush on her or else that would be stupid and I will use all my diamonds in making him miserable anyway I can

I was really expecting better from an RC writer not to do this annoying ass trope ESPECIALLY because GOE has already done it and it was no less ANNOYING...like what's going on with the "Boy is mean to you because he secretly likes you & you think he is in love with your dead twin sister but he is actually in love with you" trope?? Did Alice just take inspiration from anastasia's cas route or did a book recently blow up in book twt that had this trope, making other authors go crazy & venture into it or what?! Stop it, it's annoying & childish 🫵🏾

It's just been 2 episodes and I can already see that Lada has little to no backbone, why did anastasia write Lada being in love with that dragan idiot as the canon?? No like even on the determined/stubbornness path....Lada just keeps blushing like a fool thinking about dragan immediately after the idiot says the most insulting thing about her ever, even when I hadn't taken diamond choices with him, she was already blushing?? I hate my mcs being canonically in love with a character especially when said character is a jerk

Not only that but she also seems pathetic over him too, she obsesses over any little interaction her twin sister has with him, EVEN IN HER DEATH & FUNERAL, like what??? your sister just died and the main thing that made you finally drop a tear was whether dragan's gift was sincere or because he liked your sister so he gave you a gift because she asked.....like I would have been able to accept her having a crush on that idiot if she hated herself for it too or had strong internal monologues struggling with liking someone who despises her, like girl have some dignity please. I don't think I have found any mc so pathetic (in how she treats her romantic feelings aspect) in just 2 episodes.....plus she just feels so empty written (yes it has only been 2 episodes so we can't know much about her but still) it feels like there isn't even anything to know about her and please don't bring up lane because that is a very differently written character, she is written as cold and apathetic but we still could feel out her personality but lada? she isn't even described as being cold or empty, just average yet she still feels so.....meh

(I will humbly offer my apologies and give Alice all the praise if she progresses in the upcoming episodes, please note this isn't my analysis for the WHOLE story just this 2 little episodes so yes I do know there is still room for more and I am excitedly waiting on it. This is not a hate post)

Good thing I can say about Lada is that all her sprites are pretty and even though she feels bad about being average compared to her sister, she doesn't go the pick-me "woe is me, oh look at me I'm not like other girls route or develop some grudge or inferiority complex towards her sister for being better that her, No she accepts the way she is and instead find something else she loves doing that makes her whole)

The races

I either don't have eyes or I'm delusional because let me tell you, I haven't seen ONE black character in this story yet that was all the russians could complain of, either racists are that obsessed with black people that they pretty much see them every where, they aren't or there are some hidden characters that maybe I didn't see because where are the black people everyone was talking about? Only black person I saw was the opportunity to choose your mc's sprite

Infact, the race that I kept on seeing was asian (this also seemed weird to me but I googled it and it says slavic people extended to some parts of asia so they rightfully belong there & I don't really know what the russians have to complain about)

for starters, i headcanon that they’re 11 years apart. i did this because dan stevens and ewan mcgregor are 11 years apart, lmao. but i also think it makes sense! so i didn’t feel like altering that.

they met when adam was 4, and lumiere was hired as a 15-year-old footman. i think they liked each other instantly. lumiere’s jovial/loud/playful personality perfectly filled in all the gaps of adam’s terrible shyness. queen renée liked him, (she was only like. 6-7 years older than him) and he reminded her of her own younger brothers, whom she dearly missed. this helped adam trust lumiere quicker, as lumiere ended up spending extra time with him.

like in the fic you’re referring to, lumiere quickly picked up on how regularly adam needed to be rescued. mrs. potts filled him in on the severity of the situation here, and how it’s been like this since he was born, so lumiere became pretty protective of adam. he’d try to distract him and pull him out of reality as much as he could. cogsworth was always on the fence about it, because on the one hand, he wants to follow the rules and obey the king’s orders that servants aren’t supposed to be friendly with the family. but on the other hand, he cared about little adam too, and he was glad, in THIS case, that lumiere was so good at being sneaky

a couple years later, plumette joined the crew as a young maid. lumi fell for her INSTANTLY, and they became besties very quickly. she, too, of course, felt so badly for the little prince. she also became trusted by queen renée (who was alwaaysss rooting for those two — she’d get their schedules rearranged so they could work together or get days off together, and even find secret rooms to allow them alone time. she’s the OG plumiere shipper😤)

ANYWAY, my point there is that lumi and plumette very much became the big brother & sister that adam very much needed. they both played with him as much as they could. they’d go for walks with him in the garden when his mother was occupied, they’d race boats across the pond. lumiere would give him piggy back rides around the castle and adam would actually laugh sometimes!! he was so,., not very expressive as a kid. especially not happy emotions. so it always melted their hearts when they could hear his precious little giggle🥹

i’ve mentioned this before i think, but for birthdays and christmas and such, queen renée would send lum and plum to paris to get gifts for adam, since she was often not permitted to leave without the king🙃

lumiere also taught adam how to play chess!!!!! he also taught him some “special moves” (cheating) that guarantee (he’s cheating) victory every time😎 (he taught him how to cheat because beating cogsworth is funny). but he still knows (and never forgets!!!) the basics!!

when the queen got sick… ough. everyone was just trying to take care of adam as much as they could. which wasn’t enough At All, but it was all they could do. and when she died? OUGHDKFJSKJ!!!!!!!! adam was 9 (and a half), lumiere was 20. everyone (except the king 🤬🔪) is very very very sad.

adam would have really really awful nightmares, following her death. he’d wake up screaming and sweating and panicking. he’d cry and just entirely be unable to calm down. lumiere soon learned about this and started sneaking to the west wing at night and sleeping in the hallway outside of his room. and then when he’d hear adam wake up, he’d come in and try to soothe him best he could. he’d climb onto the bed and sit beside him and hold him tight until the crying turned to whimpering. adam would mumble “where is she? where’s mama? i want mama” and lumiere would shush him gently and try to keep him calm and pet his hair, telling him to go back to sleep.

the king soon found out about this (he had too many RATS working for him😤) and forbade it, putting a guard outside adam’s room so no one was allowed in during the night. (and sometimes louis would force him to stay in there during the day too! if he was being particularly difficult (having autistic meltdowns or just in general Being An Autistic And Depressed Child) and no one could control him🙃)

anywaaayyyyyy this is the beginning of the many cracks and fractures that would come to their friendship. adam is sent to boarding school in the fall and he just gets more closed off, angry, sad, you name it! from here. it’s not a 180 flip though. the first few years when he comes home for breaks, he’s still drawn to lumi & plum and still leans on them. i have a sweet fic from when he was 11 that’s 🥹🤧 a precious moment amidst the terribleness. and it’s more lumi doing card tricks!! hehe!! he’s an entertainer, what can i say?🤩

by the time he’s a teenager though there’s basically nothing between them. his father beat him enough times to Stop Talking To Them that he just finally gave up trying. and when his father dies just before adam turned 16, it’s all a mess. adam’s completely cold with all of them. he’s been away most of the time the last 6 years because of school so when he does come back and Stay at the castle, he just really makes it his domain. he invites all the awful friends he’s made in the cities, he creates his corrupt and awful court, he indulges and drowns in his self-loathing. all that good stuff 🙃

and where does it leave lumiere? heartbroken with the rest of the gang. feeling like they failed him. which is so hard because it’s like!!! they did as much as they COULD. if they did any more, if they were less sneaky, less careful, they’d have lost their livelihoods! and they couldn’t risk losing their work OR leaving adam to truly fend for himself. so they settled for the brief moments they could each spend with him, desperately hoping it would be enough for him to turn out like his mother, instead of his father😭

but of course. we know how the story goes. during the curse it’s interesting because he’s just stuck with them. like there’s no other people he could distract himself with. he’s stuck with them!!! and he clearly still listens to them, at least to a degree. i really love the scene where he sees a place setting for belle at the table and he gets PISSED and yells “LUMIERE!!!!!!!!!” and goes to talk to him. and he’s all pissy and grumpy but he’s still talking to him!! and cogsworth!! and mrs. potts!! it’s just so complicated!!!! like it’s not like he’s FORGOTTEN how much they meant to him, it’s just that his mind and heart are so DEEPLY clouded by the trauma of growing up with his father and the anger that he still feels for him, and himself! because of him! AGHGHH!!!

but you know what scene kicks so much ass??? THE ADAM & LUMIERE HUG!!!!!!!!!!! i’ve already perfectly elaborated on it here, and idk if i’ll ever be able to elaborate on it again because it usually just makes me go GJSKFHWKDHWKDHSKSJ!!!!!!!!!!! but that hug is just. CRAZY. “HELLO OLD FRIEND” ??????? i’m gonna throw myself into the sun. adam calling lumiere his old friend is genuinely one of the reasons i fell so FREAKING hard for this film seven years ago. what a line. what a scene. THE IMPLICATIONS OF IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! adam’s cold heart is thawed and is full of LOVE and he HUGS HIS OLD FRIEND, THE ONE WHO WAS LIKE A BROTHER TO HIM, THE ONE WHO PLAYED WITH HIM AND WIPED HIS TEARS AND HELD HIM WHEN HE JUST WANTED THE WORLD TO SWALLOW HIM WHOLE. THATS HIS OLD FRIEND!!!! ADAM LOVES LUMIERE SO SO SO MUCH 😭😭😭

gosh… anyway, as a last, lovely, note. they of course become such best friends. after the curse, they have a couple deep talks that are so Good for them both, but especially adam. and adam learns how to confide in him, how to trust him again. they play billiards and pass the time! they play chess and adam “wins” and lumiere’s like hey dude i thought we AGREED we were only gonna use those moves on COGSWORTH!!! also lumiere becomes his valet for many years, so they’re just always chattin about one thing or another. (it’s usually court gossip though. lumiere being a servant has ALL THE TEA☕️).

they become fathers together, their children grow up together. heck! they become fathers-in-LAW together!! juliette ends up marrying lumiere & plumette’s eldest son, sebastian!!! :”) (and reecy & their younger child xavier are BEST FRIENDS😤 which is also VERY IMPORTANT‼️) their families are just forever intertwined. even before the marriage, they really are family. in a modern suburban au, i just KNOW they’d be neighbors having barbecues at each other’s houses all summer 🤧 anyway it’s just so beautiful man!! adam and lumiere just have such an important bond. they’ve Truly been through thick and thin. it’s such a sweet love, to have a friend as wonderful as they have in each other 🥹

-I’ve stated before but I feel like he can’t read the room or a situation well. Tensions could be high and he’ll crack a joke or say something unrelated or completely unhinged because he didn’t know

-which brings me to my next point, if you’re Zetsu’s partner, you’ll have to be the one taking the lead in most things. He’s loves to learn, especially if you’re his teacher so when it comes to relationships, you need patience with him

-but once you get past that hill, he’d be one of the most committed, loyal, loving, and protective lover

-love language I believe would be touch and gift giving. Loves holding hands, head pats(him to you, or you to him) hugs, etc

-don’t be surprised if he brings you flowers or new plants every week. And they’ll never come from a shop, he grows them himself. He’ll create a garden in the land behind the akatsuki compound, just for you. The longer you two are together, the bigger the garden.

-I personally believe his pinchers/leaves, are rather sensitive and could be tender if touched or toyed with too much so he’d refrain from having others get close to them, but you, you’re the only one who’s never made it uncomfortable or unbearable for him

-it would take a while before he even thinks about letting you touch them, but when he realizes you’re not like the others and won’t hurt him, even on accident, he’ll guide you and tell you the proper way to handle them

-he doesn’t eat right? I mean, he does, but we’re not getting into that…anyway, i can see him learning how to cook & prepare your favorite meals

-you’d come home to find Tupperware after Tupperware in the fridge of all your favorite baked goods and meals, all prepared by him

-with goofy little notes stuck to the lids. Whether it’s a simple “love you” or a funny doodle, you’ll always have something cute to look at when away

-Will pop up randomly wherever you are. Off on a mission? Look down. Went shopping with your friends? Look down

-he doesn’t do it to be a stalker, he just likes to check in on his princess/prince to make sure things are okay. It’s his quickest way of communication and travel

-his bedroom is simple, he keeps it neat, but not perfectly tidy. May have a misplaced book or two on the desk, or a small pile of clothes on the couch but nothing more than that

-will split, black and white Zetsu would separate and go off and do their own things whenever he feels like it

-black Zetsu would go off and bother Tobi, while white Zetsu chills in the room and watches movies, etc

-has a shelf or two in his room of poisonous, and carnivorous plants. Will use tweezers to drop flies or other random bugs between their leaves when it’s feeding time

-has a calendar next to the shelves which he marks watering and feeding days to make sure they don’t get over fed/over watered

-I think Zetsu enjoys music. Nothing heavy, or too vulgar, but nothing as calm as classical either. Something with a nice beat and catchy lyrics are his go to most days

-has a difficult time expressing his feelings and would write down what’s bothering him. Holds the paper out for you/other members to read so they understand and give him his space or advice

-he’s funny. Mostly when he doesn’t mean to be^, but any outrageous comments that fall from his lips are alwayssssss hysterical

B. The false fox is based around a very, VERY old drawing I made as a child. I was trying to draw a fox from advertisements for stamp designs printed on envelopes that I cut out and taped onto my closet door. My interest in animals started very early, I guess!

E. Static would take one look at me, say "background character", and proceed to ignore me. Even if I had the energy to waste on trying to convince her I am worth more than a dialogue box, I would not waste it on her. -_-

F. I look back at all the characters I've created in my head, most of which I've never posted anywhere, and feel...well...a little pain, to be honest. I created Shadows Collide when I was in a very dark spot. Let's just say that. There is also a level of cringe as I look at my old artwork and...regrettable text posts on my old deviant art...
