Something I think that’s likely gonna get raised is the whole Sherlock asexuality thing so lemme discuss that for a moment

Long post, not sorry. TLDR: Sherlock’s not asexual, he’s homosexual af.

As a Johnlock shipper, I am biased.

I’m also a victim of constant spoilers (mid Season 3 rn, I’ve been busy with life stuff and since they’re so long it can be hard to find the time between working on my debut EP, weekly therapy and social relationships) and I can say my interpretation of Sherlock’s sexual orientation confidently. I have read a little thing on Asexuality.org about why the person who wrote it thinks he’s not asexual. Person is question is also a Johnlock shipper and raised points on other adaptations of Sherlock and the original ACD books and I didn’t know this but ACD married John off to Mary OUT OF FEAR because this was the “homosexuality is illegal” time period and even then people thought knew Sherlock and John were in love. I can’t say ACD intended for Sherlock to be gay or John to be bisexual or whatever (John is definitely bisexual. I’m like ‘sure, you’re not gay. didn’t say he wasn’t bi’ also just THE WAY HE LOOKED AT SHERLOCK I FEEL WEAK) but the evidence was there from the start.

Sherlock isn’t really a sociopath either. He’s definitely autistic/Aspergian (the term is kinda dead though because Asperger was a Nazi or something idk my therapist still uses it) and as someone who is also autistic, I absolutely see this. I have social issues. I will avoid people I don’t like and I will eventually cling to the few people I trust without question (John’s that for Sherlock) to the point of obsession. And logical thinking. I do that too. I’m still nowhere near as smart as him, and I’m not as antisocial as him either. i think it might be worth noting that after i wrote that paragraph i mercilessly informed a classmate that i don’t want to attend her party because I don’t like her with no regard for her feelings before telling off some girls staring at a poster of the men’s swim team reminding them that the poster’s not a dating app. I am literally blonde american genderqueer bisexual not-as-smart teenage Sherlock.

Back to his sexuality.

It’s not a lack of interest in romance and sex. Hell, if you’ve read my posts you’d know I’m a hopeless (horny) romantic. I think for both of us it’s a lack of interest in being social with other people that still finds its way into being inconvenient due to occupations that involve interacting with other people (I don’t know if I’ve ever disclosed what I intend to do after college, but if I haven’t, I’m not gonna say it now, but it’s going to involve working with other people A LOT. And Sherlock’s a detective after all, you have to talk to other people for that). It’s a select few people. John, Molly, Mrs. Hudson, Irene for the time she was there.

And let me be clear; Irene was never with Sherlock in the source material and I’m very happy adaptations stay true to that (this is coming from someone who’s only seen BBC Sherlock and the RDJ movies). Irene intrigued him. He looked not on naked Irene in a sexually admiring way but still looked because he knew her measurements. And the RDJ movies, despite Mary being there for the whole time, pushed Johnlock wayyyy more than it pushed Adlock (apparently it’s Adlock). I applaud that. As for Sherlock being gay, us as the audience not being masters of deduction, people who suggested it in the show (Irene, Mrs. Hudson, Louise Mortimer, etc.) also not being masters of deduction yet we see it! We know it’s there and maybe Sherlock sees it. Maybe he doesn’t. It’s still there. It’s been pointed out that the way Sherlock looks at John IS THE SAME way Benedict Cumberbatch looked at Sophie Hunter in one photo, so… yeah. 🏳️‍🌈

The way I see Johnlock is more fluff than smut by a long shot, but that doesn’t make Sherlock asexual. A lot of relationships don’t have frequent sex. A good percent of people only have sex to have children, and that’s not just religious people either. I think they do do it, just not a lot.

Sherlock’s gay. There was nothing for Irene, Molly was one-sided, and… yeah. It’s always been John Watson, always will be. Thanks for reading.

here's MY overveiw (+ some headcanons):

Marauders:

James: desi, has adhd, the deer and sirius' best friend. Parents are Effie and Monty (ephemia and fleamont), the sunshine one who's secretly very depressed, AKA: prongs, pansexual

Sirius: the dog, MAJOR family trauma, SO PALE, ran to james' house when he was 16, the rebellious child, always in a leather jacket, AKA: padfoot or pads, has hemophilia, bisexual

Remus: the werewolf, Welsh, tan, VERY TALL, has executive functioning disorder, studies very hard and isn't naturally smart like most people think he is, gayyy

Peter: the rat, he's extremely protective of his friends and will hurt anyone who messes with them, amazing baker, has amazing prank ideas, everyone thinks he's the odd one out but he's not, panromatic and asexual

The Valriykins (that's not how you spell it but I'm a bad speller):

Lily: Scottish, needs academic validation to survive, lesbian, will destroy anyone who hurts her friends

Mary: black (mixed), in love with lily, amazing cook, (I don't rlly have that many hcs for her sadly)

Marlene: Her and Sirius are besties, the blonde haired rockstar girlfriend lesbian basically, amazing at makeup, has sooo many pins on her leather jacket, will do sirius' makeup, desi

Slytherin Skittles:

Barty: italian, dyed the front strands of his hair green cause he overheard Evan saying he liked people with dyed hair, a little insane, gayyy

Evan: Melanesian, twin named pandora, trans ftm, (don't have many headcanons for him either :/)

Dorcas: lesbiannn, black, will beat up anyone who hurts her friends, in love with Marlene, always has beads and things in her braids (no more headcanons for her either :(()

Regulus: GAY, has hemophilia, insomniac, front strands of his hair are white (born w/them), trans ftm

Pandora: Melanesian, can see visions in sleep (people's deaths, stuff like that) so she doesn't sleep, but that causes the visions to come during the day, makes crazy potions for fun, adhd, very clumsy but very sweet, panromatic and asexual, has pastel beads in her braids

Throwback to the time my sister wanted to paint my little brother's nails and my mother's current husband threw a fit.

For reference, my little brother is 10 years younger than me, my sister is 3 years older. At the time, I was 12, my sister was 15, my brother was 3.

Now, C*rt isn't the father to any of us. He's some skank my mom picked up because her last flame (the father of my brother) was in prison and she's codependent.

C*rt is sterile. His peepee doesn't work and his fishies don't go swim swim. This is something he has very big sad sensitive man feelings about.

So one day my sister was painting her nails and my 3yo brother wanted his done too because little kids be like "older sibling is doing something? I want to also do that thing"

So, my sister was like sure!

But C*rt threw a GIANT fucking fit about it saying that he'd never allow "his" son to paint his nails bEcAUsE ThATS GaYyY!!1!

He asked my sister

"Are you going to paint your kids' nails? Even if they're boys?"

To which she said "lol yeah probably"

So our sweet darling empathetic and understanding perfectly mentally stable moms-husband said "Well your kids are going to be gay!"

Now, this is around the time I had just come out as a lesbian because back in 2009 in suburban white northern Utah, I had no idea that being trans was something I could even be. All you had was Gay(bad) or Normal(good).

But my big sister had my back from the very beginning. So when C*rt said this to her, her IMMEDIATE response was:

"At least I can have kids!"

I don't remember much after that but loud cowboy boots stomping down the back steps and the door slamming. We didn't see C*rt for a couple hours after that.

(You might be wondering: where was my mom during all of this? Why, where she always is. Hiding away in her bedroom because she can't ever stand up for her own fucking kids unless it publicly makes her look like a decent mother to strangers)

Fast forward 15 years. I'm happily trans. My sister is bisexual as fuck, and my little brother just now today told me he now has a boyfriend that he's super happy with.

Guess you didn't get all the precious little perfect white Bible Babies you wanted, eh, mah?

Anyway, TL;DR my sister is a fucking badass (and a ridiculously talented and creative artist and you should give her a follow over at @krowkeeper). And I've never been more proud of the siblings I got stuck with.

Moral of the story: make your broken family into kintsugi art.
