Yes. Full stop. Ive spent my entire life watching school shootings happen, seen my country blow billions of dollars on unnecessary wars, and stood in the middle of peaceful protests that get mocked and ignored. I did everything right, and learned that whats "right" simply makes you easier to ignore by the people who hold power.

I grew up in the sweet and docile "Babysitters Club" era, and have watched the next generations cut their teeth on "Hunger Games" and all kinds of dystopian lit. What did you all think was going to happen, when you kept tightening the noose on kids who were reading about revolution between active shooter drills?

I dont like murder, nor do I think most people do. But my god, you cant desensitize a nation full of people and still expect them to mourn their oppressors.

As someone who believes in empathy, kindness, and communication, I cannot condone gun violence.

One thing you guys should know about my politics is that I am staunchly anti-gun. I fucking hate guns. I think the glorification of firearms on the left is disturbing and disgusting and that everyone claiming that there's "no evidence that gun laws stop mass shootings" is willfully stupid. Yeah man, no evidence except for that every country with gun regulations has a miniscule fraction of the gun deaths that the US has and that most of the mass shootings in Canada are done with guns smuggled up from the states, right?

I hate guns, I think glorifying a machine specifically built to cause as much damage as possible is disgusting, and I think the leftist glorification of them is disturbing. And I think everyone who has been killed via gun violence in the states was also murdered by their government who prioritizes their gun fetish over people's lives. And I think anyone who tries to make any argument about them being "necessary" is also saying that they're willing to sacrifice every child that died in a school shooting for their gun fetish. And it genuinely, completely sickens me.

Anyway. For no reason in particular I think it's going to be important for people remember during these next few years that your support of a minority group cannot be conditional. If you actually genuinely care about protecting people from a government that wants them dead, you're going to have to put up with still protecting them when you find out that they sometimes have different opinions than you, otherwise you are not actually a safe or trustworthy ally
