A little while back, a Dark Road fan/Xehanort simp came upon my post about my Divergence KH3 Xehanort. They did not seem to like it much. But I deleted their comment and just to set the message straight, I will address this to Tetsuya Nomura himself, Tomoco Kanemaki and the folks who made Dark Road, and the game's fans:

Lea's a mopely lonely sadsack but I'd not say "95%" one, since a lot of other times he's being bad comic relief, a beligerent, hot-tempered manchild, or just completely useless. But yeah, "hating himself" is far from one of his problems, we all heard what he said to Xemnas.

People absolutely underestimate Rikus potential cryptid energy. We are talking like big “moth man” vibes.

Like he’s my boy, but I’m imagining nights where someone -we will say Aqua- hears noise from the kitchen in the land of departure. when she swings the door open all she sees is these two eyes that catch the light from the hallway.

Aqua yells and turns on the light, keyblade at the ready… only to find Riku standing with a yogurt pot in one hand and a spoon in his mouth.

And Riku’s just like “evening,”.

times when Terra will be looking for him for literal hours only for him to fold out of a dark corner in the rafters like a paper doll. And Terra doesn’t know whether to terrified or impressed.

OR

times when Riku’s dream eater form is triggered (I love that particular fanon) and he’s crawling around and hanging off of ceilings and Roxas and Ven are doubly like “NOT TODAY SATAN”

It would be worse when Sora’s Anti form gets triggered at the same time because then you have one crawling around on the ceiling like some bram stokers nightmare fuel, and the other one crab scuttling across the floor like Gollum on darkness filled steroids. Kairi personally believes she needs a raise. Mostly because she now carries around a spray bottle to stop them from chewing on drapes.

The ending might have been okay if they didn't throw that in. It's just so transparently desperate to get you to buy more games. I see it compared to KH's ending, but that was an actual ending - bittersweet, but an ending nonetheless - this was just a way to make you buy the next game!

Kh3 has flaws out the wazoo but it would've been so much better if they had found LITERALLY ANY OTHER WAY TO CLIFFHANGER-BAIT A SEQUEL than the way that they did. Kh3 wasn't the resolution to an arc of a story, it was the resolution to the entire story that has been building--however haphazardly--since the beginning. You can't start your series as a relatively simple story strongly focusing on one character's journey, only to not give that character a satisfying resolution, and then to hint at a sequel that'll fix it. It's scummy.

Nomura dangled the kaleidoscope of a satisfying denouement inches in front of our face, let us watch the shapes and colors long enough to see the side characters get their endings, and then snatched it away literal *seconds* from the end of the game like "Wait for the sequel and you might get this back :)" im gonna put him in a strait jacket and make him take a creative writing class i swear to god
