AN OPEN LETTER to THE PRESIDENT & U.S. CONGRESS
Mischaracterization of "From the River to the Sea" Slogan as Antisemitic
161 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!
Dear President Biden and Members of Congress,
I am writing to address the recent resolution passed on April 16th, by the House condemning the slogan "From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free" as antisemitic. As someone deeply committed to promoting understanding and combating prejudice, I feel compelled to offer clarification on the misinterpretation of this slogan.
The slogan "From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free" is deeply rooted in the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and freedom from occupation. Contrary to the characterization of the slogan as antisemitic, its primary aim is to advocate for the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people, who have endured decades of dispossession, displacement, and denial of their basic human rights.
At its core, the slogan calls for the realization of the Palestinian right to statehood and sovereignty within the borders delineated by the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea. It is a powerful expression of the Palestinian people's aspirations for justice, equality, and the right to live free from oppression and discrimination.
It is essential to recognize that advocating for Palestinian rights and supporting the slogan "From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free" does not equate to antisemitism. Criticizing the policies of the Israeli government or expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause should not be conflated with hatred or prejudice towards Jewish people.
As highlighted in Al Jazeera's article, the slogan has historical significance and resonates deeply with Palestinians worldwide as a symbol of resistance against occupation and injustice. To dismiss it as antisemitic is not only inaccurate but also undermines the legitimate grievances of the Palestinian people and stifles meaningful dialogue and reconciliation in the pursuit of a just and lasting peace in the region.
I urge you and your colleagues to engage in informed and nuanced discussions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, recognizing the complexities and diverse perspectives involved. It is through dialogue, empathy, and mutual understanding that we can work towards a future where all people in the region can live in dignity, security, and peace.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this perspective. I remain hopeful that together, we can contribute to a more just and inclusive world for all.

I think something we need to acknowledge is that Jewphobia falls under anti-Semitism but it's not the only example.
The Jewish Diaspora spread through continents, and there are even Crypto-Jews in The Americas, Jews who came to the Americas in secret since they were forbidden from coming here so they did in secret and kept their traditions at home, some of them sadly lost the traditions as time passed.
Saying someone else is anti-Semitic for disagreeing with the Government of Israel is actually anti-Semitism because you are saying that only the Jews are Semitic when they are not.
Arabs and Palestinians are Semitic, and there are many other Semitic people in the Levant.
Both Jewphobia and Islamophobia are examples of anti-Semitism

😂😂😂😂 exactly. Nobody but other braindead anti semites care about this dumb ass boycott 😂😂but other dumb Anti semites . WHO CARES ITS NOT WORKING ANYWAY !
I hope Israel wins too and they have every right to be there and the talent to back it up !!! 🇮🇱💙💪
Israel doing well in Eurovision is a completely predictable result of the boycott. The people who are watching & voting in Eurovision are now at best willfully ignorant and apathetic and at worst actively pro-Israel, meaning there will be a disproportionate amount of people willing to vote for Israel and even people voting for them because of the boycott.
But saying that means that boycotting Eurovision was the wrong call completely misses the point of the boycott. The point is not "Israel should not win Eurovision", it is "Israel should not be allowed to compete in the first place". The point of the boycott is not to give the EBU views or money, so if you've been boycotting... don't give them money or legitimacy by voting for someone tomorrow to prevent Israel from winning. If Israel does win, that does not mean boycotting failed; it only further delegitimizes the competition and confirms we should burn the whole thing down.

"Today marks one year since the death of the People’s Bubbie Shatzi Weisberger. Before she passed, she said, “I’ll fight like hell for a free Palestine until the day I die. Then I’ll keep fighting. Your queer ancestor is with you.”
If you’ve been rising up in solidarity with Palestine these past two months, your queer ancestor is indeed with you, along with countless other antizionist Jewish ancestors. For many, family and community rifts may be especially painful right now. No matter what, you are not alone. Remember that you have a long lineage of elders and ancestors at your back.
Last night, Israel resumed its brutal bombing of Gaza and has already killed dozens of people. Shatzi would encourage all of us to do everything we can right now for a permanent, lasting ceasefire. To mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living.
Shatzi died on World AIDS Day, which was b’sheret ("destined”) because in addition to being a lifelong organizer, she was a nurse for 47 years who cared for people living and dying with AIDS.
From ACT UP’s organizing to end AIDS to the movement for Palestinian freedom, we honor the ancestors and movements who made us possible."
We will be forever grateful to the ancestors who paved the path before us. May their memories fuel us to work towards freedom for all people — no exceptions."

While America is distracted with who Taylor Swift is sitting next to and watching zionist paid commercials, Israel is busy bombing 1.6 million people in Rafah.
Just so everyone understands: these are displaced civilians with absolutely NO WHERE to go.
And Israel has given them 2 options: Be ethnically cleansed or die.

For every person who, in their pursuit of Palestinian freedom, has become a virulent antisemite, I hope you know that there will be no forgiveness for you when you eventually drop this trend like you did with Ukraine.
You don't get to come up to Jews and go "oops! I'm so super duper sorry I accused you of raping Palestinians and drinking the blood of babies! So like, how about that new season of Good Omens?"
In Judaism, sins are forgiven not through the grace of G-d, but by the affected party.
And we will not forgive you.

You have got to all stop calling Jews zionists just because they are Jews.

To any Palestinian folks who have sent me requests for aid: I’m so sorry—there are active scammers going around posing as folks in Gaza, and I don’t know how to figure out which ones are real and which ones are scams.
En lieu of those. I’d like to direct you all towards NGOs which I know are not scams

As an Ahgase, a fan of Jackson Wang and a Honduran Citizen and even more important a human!...
It's obnoxious to weigh down the crimes of a government over innocent citizens.
Jackson Wang is one of the sweetest human beings out there who worries about his family and loved ones and there is nothing wrong with him being proud of the GOOD aspects of his country and his heritage.
As always, we humans have the capability of doing good things and bad things.
My own country has done bad things but that does not mean all Hondurans are bad, and yet we are discriminated against by Mexicans and Americans.
Just like you can not blame all Jews out there for Israel's genocide of Palestine, you can not blame all Chinese people - whether they are in China or Taiwan or are part of the Chinese Diaspora- for all the things the Chinese Government has done.
The internet’s ability to purposefully twist words and get offended by them isn’t exclusive to one side. This Jackson Wang controversy is blowing my mind. I can’t comment on anything else he’s done, I don’t like his music, but the people raging are absolutely stretching to the worst interpretation of his words. I don’t think there is any country that has a perfect government and yet many of us are still proud of our origins. China’s government isn’t the country. Like it or not, anti-chinese sentiment has been a major problem since covid. There was a mass shooting during a lunar new year celebration, yesterday. China has 1 billion people, not counting the diaspora, you cannot place the sins of the government onto them all.
My parents’ home country is a den of corruption, religious zealotry, misogyny, and a shit ton more. I disagree with many things, but I’m still proud to be from that culture. I still have some pride in being an American, enough to motivate me to change the country for the better. To be praising a white person who got surgery to be Korean, who immediately sold out queer people to appeal to the right, over a Chinese man correctly calling out sinophobia and having some pride in the country he hails from…I hope most of you are white. If not, I need you all to evaluate some severe hypocrisy and internalized racism, quickly.
I will never understand how quickly marginalized people will throw each other under the bus. It’s rude, but I can confidently say that the international POC attacking are from countries that also need to get their shit together. Don’t throw stones in glass houses. Life isn’t fucking black and white. The horrible things done to your people doesn’t remove the pain inflicted onto others. The Uyghur crisis is abominable. East Asian people being targeted because covid was marketed as the “China virus” is also bad.
Please adapt to keeping multiple complex subjects in mind simultaneously.

It's so fucking annoying that every time people advocate for Palestinians, we have to emphasise we're not being anti-semitic because of how white supremacists co-opt anti-Israel sentiment as anti-semitism (including zionists themselves). we will literally say an objective fact like, "Israeli defence forces have killed 100s of Palestinian families and that's a war crime" and motherfuckers with 10 brain cells in their entire gene pool will accuse you of hating Jewish people when a) there are Palestinian Jewish people killed and dispossessed by Israel and b) Israel is not and never has been supported by all Jewish people. I'm just no longer arguing with or educating grown tax paying adults who have fallen for Zionist and white supremacist rhetoric. I'm refusing to accommodate assholes who actually believe that advocating for a group of people with next to no water, food, safe housing, military, or electricity living in a slaughterhouse to be free is somehow oppressing anyone. Grow the fuck up. Advocating for the human rights of one oppressed group is not an adversarial action. This is real life, not tumblr in the mid 2010s.
