You know I feel generally conflicted about Chloe's character I don't like her at all and I don't think her redemption arc was as amazing as some people claim. On the other hand Thomas Astruc is very weird about her character and for a show that he claims to be some feminist master piece he really acts like mean teenage girls are the devil and irredeemable but grown ass men like Gabriel and Andre Bourgeois deserve to be forgiven and glorified for their horrible actions just very odd all-round.
Also take this with a grain of salt but I remember reading somewhere that apparently one time Astruc compared Chloe to Donald Trump deeply unserious man.
Y’know, Miraculous Ladybug claims to be feminist when it really isn’t, and I think that it’s because Thomas Astruc, for some reason or another, cannot stand the idea of anyone liking and/or sympathising with Chloe. His hatred of his own character, and anyone who likes or supports her is pretty fucking disturbing, and it’s clear that he enjoys making her suffer, and insulting anyone who likes her by comparing her to Donald Trump. Her ‘redemption’ arc in season two was a mess because Jeremy Zag wanted to redeem her, but nope, middle school bullies are irredeemable in Astruc’s eyes, so any hope of a redemption for her was conveniently tossed out of the window.
What ultimately sickens me is that a bratty middle schooler who is the product of her terrible upbringing gets the ultimate hate sink, while we’re expected to sympathise with, and ultimately forgive, a literal magical terrorist, and the father who enabled and spoiled his daughter beyond all reason. NO. I’m done with this show. Done.

You know, even if I didn't like Andre, I at least wanted to believe he actually loved his daughter which is... you know... the bare minimum in actually trying as a parent? Now we don't even have that anymore. If I ever had a lick of respect for him it's dead. Nothing he says or does from here on is going to make me ever like him.

Chloé should've treated André worse, he would've deserved it. Fucking grown ass man blaming his sad, pathetic existence on a teenage girl.

Wait a minute. Andre Fired Himself From The City Hall?
If true then That's IMPULSIVE
why would you do that? You got a backup plan?
This is what dumbing down characters truly is.

It sounds utterly ridiculous (as Chloe would say), but it's true!
Endeavor: *sees his son has turned evil, realizes that it's his failure as a father that made it happen, accepts responsibility for it and commits himself to looking after his evil son for the rest of his days.*
Andre: *sees his daughter has turned evil, doesn't think it was his failure as a father that made it happen, dodges responsibility for it and completely gives up on his evil daughter, preferring to parent the good kid who's not bioglogically his 'cause it's safer and easier.*
Imagine if TA write MHA, he would make : Endeavor redemption meaningless and never receive consenquence because he now a "good guy", make Dabi is more evil than Endeavor despite being his victim, and make Toga as ireedemable bItch because she is blonde and evil
That, or Shigaraki ends up being the one to kill All for One instead of Midoriya.

Let's be honest, Marinette and the rest of the characters put more effort into trashing Chloe herself than into actually helping (And they still have the nerve to say they were trying to help when in reality all they said was "Be nice" and nothing else, it's a strong attempt to avoid making an effort to help, which the person needs)
Yes, I'm pissed, that's why there are so many posts, but seriously, the fandom still believes that the characters tried to help Chloe and it's all her fault because she didn't accept "Help", too bad it wasn't even help (This song fits so well)
youtube
Yes, I get annoyed with people in the fandom who say that the characters tried, it's bullshit, they didn't do anything to help her (And that's why they put more effort into destroying her than actually helping her), and empty words are things anyone can say

MAJOR Revelation & Collusion salt/vent incoming:
Look, I’m sorry if I’m misunderstanding something here, but I really dislike these episodes.
Why? To me, it seems like that guy is using Gabriel (the main villain and known terrorist of Miraculous) as the main "mouthpiece" for the fans who have the gall to take up for Chloe or call out her bad character portrayal (“You have a wonderful life, power, wife and a daughter”).
It also feels like the exact same thing when it came to Lila in Revelation, using the whole “Chloe is capable of change” speech for her own advantage, similar to what she tried to do with Marinette in Chameleon with the whole "friendship and not fighting over a boy" speech. It’s like he’s using them both as mouthpieces to represent the fans who still think Chloe can change or has potential.
So basically he's saying "Only psychopaths think that. You should listen to Marinette when she says Chloe is incapable of change because she’s the protagonist, and you shouldn’t listen to Lila and Gabriel when they say that Chloe can change because they’re the antagonists!”.
It’s really frustrating because any other time, we are made to feel sorry for Gabriel despite everything that he’s done, now we shouldn’t listen to him??? This is really disappointing to think about because he’s ruining Marinette's character this way. I still like Marinette and I really do think she deserves better, but I’m starting to see why people are starting to dislike her. She's becoming ANOTHER Thomas self-insert (on top of the MANY he already has in the series). The guy loves himself TOO much, don't you think?
I'm going to be completely honest here. As a Marinette fan, I still think the way SOME critics go about describing/criticizing/disliking Marinette and her character isn’t necessarily correct, but I must say that it’s still understandable. This guy is basically making her into his own personal mouthpiece, making S5 Marinette’s portrayal the worst as it has ever been 😓
Which is really a letdown because I love Marinette. It’s Chloe’s “Darnation arc” all over again. He’s ruining characters and development just to push his own morals and fill his own ego to the brim and it’s a shame.
And before anyone says:
“Geez! I swear to god people act like they know Chloe more than her own creator!” 🙄
Maybe your right, but MAYBE it wouldn’t of turned out that way if the show wasn’t so inconsistent and contradicting all the time! This is another reason why I think people have so much animosity towards characters like Andre, because the story portrays him as the victim “this entire time” who only got into politics to please his father and Audrey, pretending that he was never a corrupt politician on his own free will. It’s questionable because…he made his own bed. He choose the life that he has now, to have a child with a despicable woman, choose to spoil Chloe rotten, not to discipline her when she was being rotten to other people, and choose to not be there for her for emotional support.
I’m not saying that Chloe bares no blame at all, but it’s not ENTIRELY her fault just because “she’s her own person”. There is such things as bad parents & bad role models 🙄 You don’t have the right to give up on your daughter, saying things like “you have a terrible/cruel daughter” or “you tried everything in your power to help” when all you really did from the beginning was enable her, let her make everyone’s lives miserable and not be there for her like your should have. Yeah, she’s horrible, but at least she has the excuse that she’s a child. Your not only a grown man, but her father.
This goes for other figures in her life also (Audrey, Bustier, her butler, heck, even Ladybug to a degree). People are right, not everybody is responsible for holding her hand through redemption/reformation (and I agree) and to coddle her every time she does something wrong, but to say that “they’ve tried everything/their best”…just isn’t true. It’s more of an excuse to give up on her. Then JUST SAY THAT instead of trying to convince everybody that you did everything that you could.
Enabling =/= Helping.

Hey, hey, hey - time for a Gabriel analysis!
So. After we learned that Gabriel Agreste wasn't his original name, my mind jumped to Andre Bourgeois, who also once had a different name. In keeping with the themes of the show, we are seeing that secret identities don't always come with masks and comic book names.
We had a hint of Gabriel's secret past in Psycomedian, when Harry visited and alluded to his Gabi days. How, oh how could the Gabriel Agreste we all know have ever been friends with someone like Harry Clown? This is only possible if he was once a different sort of person.
We had further clues in Gabriel's vision of the past, in the time burrow in Evolution - and in Emilie's video messages left for Nathalie, and the photographs of Gabriel, Emilie and Nathalie on some expedition, seen in Passion - and in Amelie's accusation that Gabriel has changed, in Emotion.
Adrien is also aware his father has changed with time, demonstrated when he tells Gabriel that Emilie once said they came from different backgrounds.
The photos shown in Revelation finally gave concrete evidence that Gabriel used to have an adventurous spirit and he used to smile. He was fun...but something changed...and I don't think it was just Emilie's death that caused the personality shift. Based on casual comments Adrien has made throughout the series, his father has been strange for years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabriel tells Adrien that he and Kagami are 'of the same design' - and we know he means this literally. But taking it as a metaphor...for two seasons I've wondered what Emilie's parents were like. We can infer that she comes from a wealthy, 'important' family. Maybe Gabriel struggled to fit in and win the approval of his in-laws. Maybe he never felt good enough. When he tells Adrien things like, 'You're clinging to Marinette because her mediocrity lets you shine more,' perhaps someone once talked like that about him. With that kind of background, it would be unsurprising that he decided to try to forge a new identity.
And let's remember that Gabriel is a designer. His whole empire is founded on inventing personae. Even beyond the sentimonster aspect, he tells Marinette that he designed the image the world holds of his son. Everything is his invention. That speech in Pretension proved just how deep his God complex runs - he fully believes he has made the world in his image. Even the episode title - Pretension - smacks of the image he is presenting to the world in lieu of truth.
At this point, what we're seeing is a 'new money' stereotype - a self-made man who now spurns those who remind him of where he came from. It's one of the most shameful things about him. No matter how much fame and money you get...you can't forget your roots, people. Maybe that's easy for me to say because I'm not rich or famous. But I just can't imagine turning my back on my own origin story. It's what makes you who you are. Gabriel clearly didn't want to be that person anymore...and that's sad.
What's also fascinating is that, if we zoom in on those pictures Nathalie took in Revelation, we see that once upon a time, Gabriel - Gabi Grassette - was a punk. Let's take a moment to appreciate the spiked hair, makeup, leather jacket, ripped jeans, and dog collar - not to mention that smirk. And far from being ashamed of his work with Harry Clown as a human frites (who, by the way, reminds me so much of Mr Banana), he was smiling about it. Man, he loved it. Contrast that with Gabriel in Party Crasher - 'JOY.... What's going on in my HOUSE!?'
If it were at all possible for the old Gabi to meet Cat Noir, I can imagine him loving Cat's costume. On that note, I can't help but compare that dog collar with Cat's bell. I've said before that I see the bell as a symbol of Cat being domesticated and under control. Gabi probably saw his dog collar more as a rebellion, but maybe it too is a symbol of how he once felt controlled by someone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The thing is...the punk movement was all about anti-establishment anti-authoritarianism. Today, Gabriel is the establishment he once rebelled against. It makes me think of John Lydon of the Sex Pistols turning Conservative and advertising butter. Musicians like Donovan - not a punk, but in a similar category, as a 1960s hippie - are rare for maintaining that same spirit all through their lives.
Gabriel is a 'sell-out'. He gave up that spirit and became someone unrecognisable. Those photos demonstrate that Emilie isn't the only body buried in a 'basement' in the Agreste mansion. There is a different person buried under the cold veneer that is Gabriel - a person Nathalie probably misses. I expect that's why she's stuck with him all this time, despite her better instincts. Something tells me Gabi would've made a better father.
The irony is that Adrien's moments of rebellion are probably one of the few things he has in common with his father, if we look far enough back in Gabriel's past. That, and their temper - and randomly breaking into eccentric dance and song. Gabi might have appreciated Adrien more for standing true to his principles. Maybe Adrien sometimes reminds Gabriel of himself and he can't stand it - can't stand thinking of what he's lost along the way.
Tumblr media
I believe Gabriel exists in a perpetual state of regret. Part of him probably misses Gabi, too. After all, Gabi got Emilie. What has Gabriel got? Wealth, sure, but Emilie's dead, Adrien all but hates him, Nathalie's wasting away, and Gabriel himself has only weeks to live.
If you think about it, Gabriel's whole quest has been about getting a do-over. He wants a second chance with Emilie - a second chance for Nathalie - a second chance at his own life. He then tells Adrien that his greatest wish is to try to reconnect with him...because he knows he doesn't have much time left with his son. Even then, though, his selfishness prevails. (Psst, Gabi...you can't make up for years of terrible parenting with banana pancakes.)
Thinking of the snake miraculous, the second chance lets you know what's going to happen, enabling you to make better decisions the next time around. In other words: it's about learning from your mistakes. Gabriel never learns, and it is his refusal to accept destiny and his own human fallibility that is causing his disintegration.
The more Gabriel necrotises, the more we can see this as his 'sins' catching up with him. He doesn't seem to grasp that all the blackness devouring him is, in a way, the blackness of his own heart. Even if he erases the whole world, he can't erase his deeds. If he managed to get his Wish and bring Emilie back, she would be horrified. She'd wonder where her Gabi went.
Gabriel is proof that 'evolution' isn't always positive. He reinvented himself once, and now, because it didn't go the way he wanted, he's trying to reinvent things again. Tomoe also hints at a belief that the solution to her problems is to make the world anew - to get a second chance. Felix tries this, too, when he creates the red moon to wipe out all people except his select group.
But Felix does learn - Ladybug helps him see that even if you erase all the people causing you so much grief...you still have to deal with that pain. What Gabriel fails to see is that - like Cat Blanc on the roof, all alone without his lady - destroying your witnesses won't remove the witness in your own heart.
Even if Gabriel wiped everyone else's memory of his crimes, he would still know what he'd done. And when you cross those kinds of lines, you can never go back to who you once were.
Please no post-Revelation spoilers in the comments :)

There's a problem with the Audrey and Chloé thing. Audrey only loves Chloé because she wants to mold her into another version of her and the only reason that was even set up was because Marinette told Audrey that Chloé is mean and shamed the girl in front of her mother, thus painting a target on her back. Andre only spoiled Chloé because he knew Chloé could leave him and now with Zoé that's no longer an issue so he never fixed his problems, he ran away from them.
Why Andre won’t confront Audrey and do more to confront Chloe’s behavior. (an unbiased opinion)
The Bourgeois family has had a long time standing within Miraculous Ladybug for being one of the most chaotic families in the show. Andre is the mayor of Paris but his position of power had mainly been left in the hands of his family to take advantage of and use in whatever way they wished in order to gain an upper hand over others. Those who stand against them are often times quick to abide by their demands due to the threat of them being related to the mayor of Paris. However, in “Sole Crusher”, despite Andre’s long time standing as Mayor, we do eventually come to find that he did not want to be Mayor, his passion revolved around the film industry and being a director, but due to the pressures of his family, Andre had made the decision to abandon his true self and follow a career in politics in order to earn his place within his family, something that was very concerning to hear because this had essentially revealed to us that Andre may not be happy with the life he has with his family.

Idle thought on the Chloé & XY are cousins AU, but :
Recalling our distressing discussions regarding Chloe's 24/7 Audrey impression & Andre being the one to encourage it.
I am suddenly imagining that whole "Get custody of Chloe angle" from a new perspective on XY's part (OO)
Not that the sever neglect and emotional abuse weren't sufficient reasons, but still.
Oh, yeah, that's. That would be a thing. Though, all things considered, I'm not actually sure how a custody battle would go. Like, Audrey and Andre could just sign away custody. They don’t actually LIKE Chloé, they've both been open to getting rid of her in the past. They sign a few things that basically promise Chloé an allowance and access to her trust fund (because XY is making sure his cousin is getting compensation for putting up with these morons. If nothing else, they deserve to pay for the therapy Chloé needs because of them) but otherwise wash their hands of the situation. It’s anti-climatic, and ultimately the final nail in the coffin that either of them care. Chloé moves out with minimal fuss, both she and XY change their last names to something neither Bourgeois or Roth, and start setting up the guest rooms for when Kagami and Adrien eventually need places to crash. There isn’t closure, but finality.
On the flip side. Audrey is self-absorbed, but competitive; André, no matter how much of a coward, is possessive. So I could also see them doubling down, and hauling the whole thing to court. Not necessarily because they WANT to keep Chloé, but because they don’t want to "lose" (Andre, a prized possession that can make him feel good about himself, Audrey just on principal). The entire thing becomes a media circus. If André is still mayor, he backs out first, or tries to, because it’s effecting his ratings, but Audrey clings on like a stubborn leech, because how DARE her brother's ungrateful spawn try to CHALLENGE her!?
For Chloé, it’s a nightmare. Why are her parents fighting this? She was so sure they didn’t care, (but do they actually?) This is just about her wanting her freedom, isn’t it? Can’t even let her do what they always wanted her too and walk out of their lives? (Was she wrong, do her parents actually love her?) They don’t care about HER, just that she's leaving on her own terms! They wouldn’t care if THEY were the ones to toss her out (they wouldn’t do that, right?) but when SHE makes the choice to leave, it’s suddenly a PROBLEM. Bet they only care because of how it'll look to the public (Is she a bad daughter?).
XY wins in the end, but good god, it’s a miracle if no one ends up Akumatized.

Scapegoating Lila and referring to Astruc haters as Lila grudge holders. LOL.
Thing is... Lila’s and their ways aren’t not the same. Sucks I’ll have to speak of Lila Rossi again of the difference of circumstances.
Ah it’s been established, the misuse of miraculous can lead to huge problems. This has been shown enough times. Heck that’s how Santa Claws happened. Back to Lila thing again.
Ladybug used her ultimate power to embarrass Lila due to her instability or rather Lila’s existence made Marinette the hero feel absolute inferiority and ensured to take her soon to be Perfect Alliance away from her. Tikki was asking if she was jealous earlier. Gets more jealous. Marinette got a special book and could have left and completed something more of priority. Instead she decides to be a clown. Even Adrien was like what’s wrong with you and concerned. Lie hater lies of an excuse to why she was foul to Lila and swings away from him because she knew that she was clearly wrong. It was really so Lila would go away or disappear. Disappear is fulfilled after Confrontation. Funny this her frolicking upon Lila and wasting her time instead of getting the book and leave for the time being indirectly helped cause the collector incident. Oof Adrien returning back to square 1 again. And the funny is Marinette in the end doing the very thing she despises or wants to despise of Lila doing when returning what she stole to Gabriel. Ironic. Choose when game eh?
Lila has to see what she wished, ripped away. Opportunities taken away later too. And the smile of the one who did this to her’s face, plaster everywhere. The hero that ruined your first day. Having to remember that awful experience for a long time. Hawk Moth and soon Nathalie orchestrate the anniversary of Lila mockery. The whole town celebrating your humiliator and allies of such. A peer in your class for some weird reason, wanting to be like Ladybug for some strange reason. You later have to later hear the theme song of who ruined you and see much merchandise. A powerful figure, Gabriel Agreste, insulting you, personally, purposely. When the day ends, it’s the same.
The next day you return to school is the first day you died. That person who went out their way against you like earlier is a class rep. The class representative is being very dirty towards Lila because Adrien. She tried to convince Alya and Nino there’s fault in her and offness. And when she realized that she screwed up and had no grounds to hold onto, that class rep went her way to try to expose her and raged cause it backfired. Literally proved that Marinette is desperate against Lila. So the rager once again proving her hatred isn’t because of what she does. It’s really cause she disrupts the destiny she wishes for Adrien. Lila is better than Marinette in her mind since her arrival and Marinette is being a flaw finder like she did in Volpina. Any means to find wrong with her so it’s ensured she can never be with Adrien.
And after Lila retaliated and left, Adrien reminded her of her first day after the anniversary of her humiliation (or whatever day. But it doesn’t matter due to Heroes Day is rather recent). Both of them are unfortunately reminding her of Ladybug. Ladybug tricks her into kissing seafood and mocks the muttering seafood and she gets split but Sarah and then Ladybug. So split into two and two. Just to be revived and Ladybug deciding to lecture her again and project.
Then the classed wanted to sit in their original seating so Lila is left to sit in the back. And everything works out for the rep who antagonized her. And then Marinette takes her threat as a joke.
Later in time, Marinette for some reason, decides to do the very thing Nino and Alya told her that wasn’t cool of her that she confessed of doing upon Lila. Because again, she sought for and desires to see something off with Lila (even though the reason she went away was because she ruined her first day). She also proves that she doesn’t trust Adrien as earlier in time he was warning her not to make things worse with Lila (and anyone in general. Like don’t give reason).
It’s almost like Marinette disregards the idea of Chloe ever bothering her or the classmates when Lila exists. It’s like she just wants to cause problems on purpose. And she tells Tikki, after taking Juleka’s bike, that she basically doesn’t trust Adrien or her friends while chasing after the vehicle with Lila, him and his bodyguard, Placide I.T.. Again, it’s not because of her friends. She uses friends will harmed by Lila as mask for her Adrien must remain pure and not corrupted (Even though Adrien knows what she knows already). She stopped badgering Lila because she discovered a flaw in Lila that ensured to her that Adrien could never want to be with Lila or any like her.
Wanna know the sugar on the cream? Lila being preyed on by a so called hero and one that shouldn’t be making Gabriel’s terrorist playground prosper. And yet… Ladybug finds it to make it about herself. And to ensure that a lot watchers are unable to see this because they purposely distract themselves with anything Lila does and wishes to make a big deal of what’s really moot and ignorable. And thus, hype it up higher than anyone else that’s shown doing similar, same, and or worse.
To the point they forget the history or discard of other characters and the environment. Too busy proxying Lila and isolating her as the exception above all. Honestly it’s actually the watcher for mastering the art of being a bigger fool than the protagonist actually. Unable to see what’s in their face all the time. That’s a good one actually. Brimmed and Scald over Lila doing something. Unable to see what’s other characters do that’s shown in their faces more frequently.
What’s really funny is the immense difficultly of realizing Lila is prompted reasons. Congrats to Sabrina and Marinette for strengthening her reasons further. How is a watcher gonna say Lila Rossi should let go when Marinette proves she can’t let go of Lila. In other words, it’s basically I want Lila’s end and I don’t care if Hawk Moth wins as a result. Lila once again became more important thing to target than the mastermind of genocide and victor of omnicide and ruination of Marinette and other characters having futures. And that’s why many watchers should hold hands around a virtual Marinette.
Wanna recall another obvious in the face ignored thing? Marinette made Kagami her Lila 2. Only problem was, not only she feels inferior like the former, she couldn’t find any means as an excuse to blast her. Even joined Chloe to try to humiliate Kagami. She even had to realize that she was in the wrong with Kagami. Sucks that she failed to try with Lila after the new insight with Kagami. Then episodes after Ikari Gozen, she reeled Kagami away from Adrien because Kagami’s existence around Adrien disrupted her. And so in feeling instead of the battle, she indirectly caused Miracle Queen.
Funny thing is the treatment of Lila 2 pretty much vanished at the end of Mr Pigeon 72. Kagami aligned to many of the viewers interests which unfortunately losers eat up. Then they get upset at her next season despite now knowing the truth of Marinette and Ladybug (and Marinette making things of herself again and Marinette almost realizing she should listen more or trust her friends). They call her the traitor cause whatever Pretension or Representation. Even though she and Felix ultimately benefitted Marinette’s interests and to end the Monarch reign once and for all which is kind of interesting.
Like do you understand the damage Marinette has done to her and seeing the failed past of her with Adrien as seeing them together now? Lila being right about what she said of Adrien and Marinette together are destroying her and Adrien really wrapped in Mari’s nette. Adrien speaking high appraisal of Marinette pretty much in her face, probably higher than he ever did with her. The two making her feel that Marinette knows best and is truly to be dependent upon. Similarly that’s pretty what happened with Felix. Convincing him that Marinette and Ladybug are more significant than themselves so Ladybug must end things and yet people get heartbroken that Kagami told Felix who Marinette is above all else. And may convince themselves she’s the traitor. Kagami is like the Lila that Adrien but mostly Marinette saved (if you know of Miraculous Secrets Lila lol).
But like for realsies. Kagami and Luka staying aligned with Marinette creed after knowing why of everything done upon them and their friends or others due to knowing who ladybug is, is quite a miraculous oof. Could be worse. They could really put everything together of what happened and why.
In short. Those Lilas can’t be Lila grudge holders because they viewers aren’t being badgered and harassed by people with the power to play with their lives and humiliate them and have to experience the harassers being seen as people with prestige and glory to want to be like and celebrate and have some fans of them going out their way to spread the propaganda against Lilas you refer to as being Lila holding a grudge on pieces of trash who could have trusted her friends and left her be.
This is also as embarrassing as when people say they met a Lila in real life. Or Haze Barfe saying Kagami bullied Marinette and projecting of her stupid childhood and disregarding what Marinette does to Kagami. Let’s add Juleka as well. How about Max? But it’s okay because Barfe thinks Lila being petty is wrong because it’s not relatable to her levels of petty. Oh how much of an oxymoron that stupid human is.
I will say, Barfe is truly an Master Andre Manipulator.
Or Pathological Marinette
Barfe and losers should be grateful they never met a so called real Marinette in their pitoful lives. Oops
Do tell me Glaze Barfe? Why does Recreation hurt you but Kagami personally hurt you the most? Is Kagami your real struggle in life?

Okay, so I've been trying to conceive an explanation that doesn't make every teacher Chloe has ever had completely incompetent. But the best I've come up with is that anytime a teacher tried to discuss Chloe's serious education problems with Andre, he responded by getting them fired, which is a little too salty of a take even for him. And that would still imply a rather terrifying level of incompetence and corruption within the Parisian school system.
Literally every school Chloe has ever attended needs to be investigated to determine just how bad the situation is. Because if she really got away with this, she is most certainly not the only student that was failed by the system.
Congrats MLB writers, in your attempt to vilify Chloe for being dumb, you accidently salted the entire school system.
Basically, yes. Season 5 is absolutely rife with 'we didn't give a damn about narrative cohesion, we just slapped our personal desires on paper'. It's not even just Chloé either. The others have similar moments, and it's only going to get worse in the remaining episodes. It is actually baffling to me. Forget anti-Chloé agenda, it's like the entire writing team is just sick of ML at this point. If so, fire them and hire some of these amazing fanfic authors the community has.
Personally I don't feel it's too salty of a take for Andre, though not 'fired' just intimidated. He is the 'Symbol of Paris' if you recall. Anything that looks bad must be ignored.
Check out my 'Miraculous Gothic AU' for my current opinion of the Bourgeois parents. The current fic going up 'Being Bull Headed' will have them showing up near the end.

minor antagonists; How do I think it should look?
I'm not going to talk about Gabriel or Nathalie. however, I wanted to talk about how I think characters like Chloe, Lila, and Felix should be on the show and interact with the main characters. This can be considered as rewriting. as you like.
Tumblr media
Chloe Bourgeois; appears from the first season. And she is portrayed as a mean girl from a rich family. (canon) and ok until her failed redemption ark didn't appear: Chloe is the daughter of a politician (Andre) and a fashion critic (Audrey). She was raised baked by butlers and maids because her father was busy. when he appeared, he rewarded her with expensive gifts. Chloe knew her mother only from television and tried to impress by imitating her. (that's why she had no friends except for Adrien, others used for money) Chloe doesn't see Adrien as a romantic interest but as a friend, as she sees someone around him she is a typical bully/mean girl. She is always next to Sabrina. he does not see her as a friend but as a squire. And Sabrina sees her as a friend and role model (dress style etc) Generally from the canon, I love her episodes like queen wasp, showing that she learns from mistakes and tries to be good even though she is still mean. Redemption Ark, although it is sometimes mean (it has conflicts); Status: Anti-Hero ( Sympathetic villain)
Lila; Rossi
Tumblr media
about Lila. I'll tell you about the boy when the episode of Volpin appeared, I thought it would be another super hero, but it turned out to be a villain. What if she was a superhero (traitor), I'll explain my idea to you. Lila Rossi is an exchange student from Italy. She is naturally pleasant and everyone believes her (charming and empathetic.) Everyone succumbs to her lies, but unlike the original, she uses such a range that is achievable (e.g. she does not lie that there was a must for Jaged but she was at every of his concerts, etc.) notes in in her diary lies to remember what she said so as not to make a mess. It is unknown where she got the fox miraculous, but she is the one who craves attention as Volpina claims she is stronger. Using your powers to your advantage. He makes a deal with the moth lord (You'll help me get the Miraculous and you'll be the hero) Lila agreed. In school life, however, she watched over her thirst for attention and fame as Vopina leads to the finals 3 and 4. Lila/Volpina manipulates Chloe into akuminizing for her parents. and Until Ladybug and Chat Noir lose all Miraculous.

Felix Fanthon/Graham de Vanily
Tumblr media
I love Felix. and may surprise you since it first appears (although the model could have been modified more). She's the perfect "bad" person to develop Adrien's personality. He hates his uncle (Gabriel) and wants to reclaim his family's breasts and the Peacock Miraculous for his mother. (I'll take a little from SentiAdrien/felix theories) The boy is close to his mother but cold to the rest, Amelie thinks it's because of the death of his father and sister (yes in my au Felix had a younger sister named Diana) The character of Felix, even as he pretends to be Adrien, tries to make him realize something, but Adrien does not understand what allows him to guess over time. Felix reluctantly joins Gabriel (as well as Nathalie and Lila) to help with the Miraculous but gave him the condition that he will give him the Peacock Miraculous. And thanks to him and Lilie, Gabriel manages to get the rest of the Miraculous (not counting the ladybug and the black cat) While there is a ball organized by Gabriel, Felix shows up. When Argos transforms and makes a Sentimonster (moon) which he calls her Diana (may be in the form of his sister) with her help she gets rid of the adults. And here comes a conversation with him with Adrien and Kagami. Thanks to this, Adrien understands and tries to help his brother after his sister's despair, to which Felix says that he has three people to protect (His mother / Amelie, Adrien and Diana ( sentimonster))
Status; Anti Hero
these are my ideas, an outline of what I would do with them. And uses it for the concept of a comic book with them.

Vote 1 Chloé Bourgeois, by @halcyyonn
Based on a prompt submitted by @gaussiansphere: A house of cards style political thriller about Chloe running to succeed her father as Mayor of Paris
AO3; Political AU, Political Drama, André is Corrupt
Summary:
Chloe Bourgeois had been aware of her father's corruption for years, and she was determined to stop him. Her own political campaign was picking up steam and everything was perfectly planned. Or it was, until someone else discovered what Andre had been using his power and influence for. Chloe could make it work for her
---
The story broke early in the morning, dragging Chloe out of bed far too soon after the late night she had. Even though her team had assured her the situation was under control and no one would find out, someone had clearly been wrong. If she was anyone but Chloe Bourgeois, someone making a mistake about a secret might not be that big of a deal, but she was Chloe Bourgeois. She had been keeping the details of her father’s corrupt political career under wraps until she could use it to win the election in a few months and take his place as mayor of Paris. Was it underhanded? Of course, it was politics. Was it also a necessary evil? Yes, absolutely.
Chloe’s entire plan revolved around getting herself into the mayor’s office. If she only removed her father from his position, someone else would take his place, while Andre still pulled the strings. He, and everyone that took orders from him, had to go.
When Chloe arrived at her office, her entire media team was already assembled. All of them looked as tired as she felt, as if they had all rushed here as soon as they got the news.
“How much has been released?” Chloe set her laptop and notes on the table while everyone took their seats. “How did it get out?”
“It seems that one of the interns sent some of the files to the wrong person, and the media got their hands on it. So far, it’s been reported by most major political bloggers, including the Ladyblog. They only got some basic information that confirms the mayor is corrupt, but they don’t know how far it goes.”
Chloe nodded. “It won’t take long for people to start asking questions. What are our options?”
Another person from across the table spun their laptop around. “There are a couple of angles we can take. If you want to continue with the anti-corruption platform we were going to use, we have a press release written denouncing the current mayor and promising an investigation into his actions. If we go with this one, we’ll have to move quickly before anyone else can dig up more information.”
“How long will it take for people to work out that we know more?”
“Not long. A day or two, if we’re lucky. Andre and his government covered their tracks fairly well, but we still managed to stumble upon it. Someone looking in the right places would find it without trouble.” The private investigator she had hired months ago projected some images onto the screen at the front of the room. Different pictures of Andre began popping up, including a few that Chloe had never seen before. The mayor had clearly been having a good time recently. “We’re only a few hours away from the early morning news reports, and blogs can be updated anytime.”
“So, we need to get my statement out there as quickly as possible.” Chloe tapped her fingers on the table, her nails making clicking noises against the wood as she thought her options over. “Go with the anti-corruption angle. We need to get a press conference organised to make sure it gets onto the news.”
“What about your father?” There was silence around the room as Chloe’s team waited for her to react to Andre being referred to as her father.
“If Andre is still following the same schedule he did when I was a teenager, he won’t hear any news until mid-morning. He’s the last thing we have to worry about right now.” Chloe stood up again, adjourning the meeting. She looked over at her media liaison. “Get as many journalists together as you can in the next few hours for the press conference. This may not be the ideal situation for this information to be released, but we need to take this chance while we have it. Inaction will harm our reputation. Thank you all for being here.”
Chloe picked up her laptop and strode out of the room. As she waited for the elevator, she called her hair and makeup team. While she preferred to make public appearances on more than a few hours of sleep, this could be a turning point in their campaign. Andre’s actions were catching up with him, and the promise of an investigation could sway the majority to their side. If they continued to slowly release the information they knew over the coming months, it was unlikely that Andre’s reputation would survive until the election. The more the public found out, the more his chances of re-election dropped. With the right timing, Chloe was basically guaranteed the mayor’s office. She could almost walk right in.
---
A few hours later, Chloe sat in her office, watching as news articles about her press conference slowly rolled in. As predicted, her father hadn’t done anything about the news. She doubted her had even heard about it yet. It was still barely seven in the morning. He wouldn’t learn about anything for hours.
There was still much to be done. She had another meeting with her team scheduled for the morning to plan the slow release of information about the rest of her father’s corruption. Financial documents would be leaked, secret emails would arrive in journalists’ inboxes, phone call recordings would be posted online, and more press conferences would be held to assure the public that Chloe Bourgeois would get to the bottom of this. Sure, Andre would end up in jail, but what else would he expect after all the tax evasion, bribery, and embezzlement? There were no other options left. He had brought this upon himself.
Chloe sighed. She wished her life had turned out differently, but by the time she was born, the wheels were already in motion. When she found out about all of her father’s crimes at the end of high school, it was far too late to turn back the clock.
An alert dinged on Chloe’s computer. Alya Cesaire had arrived for their meeting. It had been set up so Chloe could double down on her promise to crack down on corruption. Speaking to the blog that had successfully pivoted from reporting on the latest superhero news to additional political reporting, as well as one of the largest blogs in the city, would ensure that as many people are possible saw her promises to fight corruption inside the government. Her entire image was built around being dedicated to doing right by the people of Paris, no matter what, even if it involved locking her own family behind bars in the process.
---
While Chloe knew that her father wasn’t happy with her running for mayor against him, he hadn’t said anything about it. She didn’t really care. If anything, she was used to it. Andre had never been the most interested parent, happily thinking that following every demand Chloe had meant he was being a good father. Somewhere in the last few years, that willingness to do whatever she asked at the drop of a hat had disappeared.
That meant it was quite a surprise when he stormed into her office at noon that day. His assistant followed behind him, ever dutiful, even as Andre raged. “I tolerated your little campaign for far longer than I should have! I thought it was only a passing fancy, but this,” he gestured to the tablet his assistant was holding and the news articles it displayed, “this has gone far enough!”
“Hello, Andre. I’m glad you found your way here. I wasn’t sure you even knew where my office was.” She wasn’t going to sink to his level. They were both adults, and allowing a conversation to devolve into a shouting match because Andre couldn’t see what was under his nose was a waste of her time. “How can I help you?”
“Stop playing around. I know your campaign is just some teenage rebellion, and I am willing to forgive you.”
“I know you’ve missed a lot of important moments in my life recently, but I’m in my mid-twenties. My rebellious teen years ended years ago. All of the decisions I’ve been making are ones that are the best for me and the best for Paris.”
Andre’s face reddened more and more with each word. Chloe didn’t let it bother her, continuing with her speech. “I know what you’ve been up to. I have all the records of the money you’ve been stealing from the city, all the bribes you’ve been paying to keep people quiet, and all the secret phone calls you’ve been having. If anyone is going to be ending their campaign, it’s going to be you.”
“You don’t know who you’re up against.”
“I do, actually.” Chloe stood up from her desk. “I grew up with you. I know everything you’ve been up to since you were first elected. You don’t know who you’re up against. I think you should leave before you embarrass yourself further.”
“How dare you?” Andre was shouting now, his voice echoing out into the hallway and attracting the attention of the people outside. “You would never last a day in this job! You don’t understand what it takes to be the mayor of Paris!”
“It’s time for you to leave; otherwise, I’ll call security and have you escorted from the building. How much more damage can your reputation take? I don’t mind finding out. What about you?”
“You are not the daughter I raised. I did everything for you, gave you everything that you wanted, yet this is how you repay me? I should have known you would turn out like your mother. An ungrateful brat.”
Chloe left the door ajar and walked back to her desk, pressing the call button on the intercom. The security team answered immediately. “Please send security to my office to remove the mayor from the premises.”
“They’re on their way, Miss Bourgeois.”
“Thank you.”
Chloe and Andre stood in silence as they waited for security. Andre seemed to think he could intimidate her into following his orders, but it wasn’t going to work. Maybe if she was a decade younger, or her father didn’t look like he had aged decades in just a few years, but that wasn’t the case. He wasn’t going to intimidate her.
Two security guards walked into the office. “Mayor Bourgeois, if you could come with us, please.”
“This isn’t the end.”
“No, the end will be when I win the election. Goodbye, Andre.”
Andre and his assistant were escorted out by the guards, Andre still fuming. Chloe could hear cameras clicking outside and could only imagine the work that was going to pile up after this incident. The whole thing only solidified Chloe’s belief that Andre was no longer fit to run Paris and needed to be removed from power at the next election. She pressed the call button on her intercom again. When her assistant answered, Chloe asked, “Please schedule another meeting this afternoon. We need to start releasing more evidence. Thanks.”
Andre was going down. And she was going to be the one to make sure his political career came to an end.

The ironic thing about ML is that they write the adults who wronged their own children ( Jagged Stone, Andre Bourgeois and Gabriel Agreste ) as the 'victims' ( in JS case, is his fight with his ex-wife ) and they somehow got 'redemption arcs' without any kind of effort to see that they have done something wrong and never seems to receive any consequences whatsoever.
This show could've just been targeted for incompetent 'parents' who want to feel like victims, so they won't be blamed for the wrong things they've done to save their own pride and ego.
"AnDrE iS a GoOd FaThEr!"
Newsflash: Disowning your child all because they're a brat that you refuse to discipline and help them, and forcing them to live with an abusive parent or family member, which FYI, she literally calls her own daughter "a loser" in the end, isn't good parenting.
Oh and to any Chloe haters that think this is karma for all the bullying she did, do it yourself a favor and fuck off from my page now.
Abuse isn't discipline. Get the fuck over it.
