Hello, we are the Turtle System! We created this account for the sake of connecting with others with shared interests and mental health conditions! You can expect mental health, Marvel/Tolkien/video game, and SFW agere posts.

We have a horde of mental disorders, but we talk about our autism and DID on here most often (privileged to have a diagnosis)! We ask that you take this into consideration when interacting with us. Tone indicators and direct communication are highly appreciated!

Our syscourse stance is complicated! We go by the information that childhood trauma is necessary to form systems in the medical sense. Dissociative disorders are fundamentally descriptors a specific criteria of symptoms. As for plurality outside of dissociative disorders (such as feeling “born” as multiple people, feeling that one “became” plural over time, etc), it is not our place to deny those experiences. However, we believe that plurals whose parts originate from non-trauma related sources should use different entirely language to describe what they are going through.

Ultimately, discussion about the nuances of plurality/systemhood are bound to be tough. We aren’t here to argue with others or prove a point; rather, just to hang out and talk. :]

Trivia:

The Filipino word “HARI”, meaning “King” is a gender neutral term. Used on both male and female. The counterpart “Reyna” or “Queen” was derived from the Spanish word “Reina”. It was imposed by the Spanish colonizers and added gendered words on its traditional Filipino counterparts.

Hari is essentially a God-King. Appointed by the gods. The expression “Harinawa” meaning “May god help us” or “May god be willing” was coined from this word.

Older alters

Thought it'd be fun to share some of the alters from our system that have stuck around since childhood and don't really front anymore (with gatekeeper and admin alter permissions).

Grace! She was I think one of the first alters to originally split in our system from the core child. She was the caretaker and protector of the few alters we had at the time and did it pretty damn well it seems. She split around 2014 when we were still very very young, and acted as the responsible adult that cared for us since we had no adult to depend on or attach to.

This is Emily, one of our oldest, if not the first, persecutor alter in the system. She's also been around since 2014 in response to our childhood best friend beginning to go behind our backs and start bullying us. She went dormant a while ago but popped up in front recently to harass/stare down some headmates that were fronting.

Im not sure what his name is, apparently Whole can't quite remember it since it's been so long, but we call him N at the moment. He was an alter that formed to help us dissociate from paranoia and anxiety around being in vehicles but eventually became a general external caretaker and protector. He'd guide us on how to hide ourselves away during arguments between our parents a lot. From what I can remember very faintly, N was formed from dissociating in vehicles by imagining a ninja running down the street and not touching the floor.

We don't have an appearance to put to the name, but here is Adrianna. As a child, our host adored ice skating and Adrianna was borne out of a want to be something our family would be proud of after much degradation and humiliation from them. She used to be quite strong at sports too, however the last time she fronted when we went ice skating, our knees and ankles gave out and she became so depressed from not being able to skate that she stopped fronting all together unless triggered out.

Figure! It's an inhuman alter that formed from both trauma from hallucinations and intrusive thoughts, as well as being treated as inhuman for most of our lives. It's mostly harmless and skitters around. Most It's ever done is freak out some of our more arson-inclined littles into chasing it with a torch. As we've started to work on deconstructing our intrusive thoughts and grounding techniques, Figure seems to have calmed down its hyperactivity and acts more like a sad puppy dog in recent years.

Julianna, an alter that used to front as an ANP to help us express our emotions. Despite hyperfixating on very very dark media, she was such a happy go-lucky girl. I say used to because she's been dormant since 2022-ish. She made her own Instagram just to post artwork, which actually transitioned into our old art account as I slowly became host without realising. I (Russelia) have some stronger memories from Julianna, which leads me to believe I potentially split from her.

Prima! Another alter borne of wanting to live up to our family's impossible standards. She's also a very very very old alter since we did ballet at about 5 years old and even though we stopped shortly after, the passion continued for a very long time. I know very little about her but she does still occasionally front to do dance, especially more elegant dances like ballet or ballroom.

I'll finish by talking about Kitty, but this isnt all of the older alters by a long shot. She went dormant about 2021 as a fictive of a media I am unsure of, though came out of dormancy in 2023 after gaining intense amnesia and losing her source in turn. As of now (the end of 2024), she doesn't front often, but when she does, she's incredibly bubbly, energetic, and far too passionate about everything. She took some time in 2023 to learn about herself and forge a new identity.

Updated Introduction

hey, I go by many names, feel free to call be whatever you choose (as long as respectful).

I'm 19, male (he/him), queer, disabled, etc.

My disability that effects me the most is probably my DID, along with autism and my undiagnosed physical condition (chronic GI issues + chronic pain). But if I were to talk about every diagnosis, we might be here a while. I say this because my conditions effect my life a lot, and I don't enjoy hiding them when I don't have to. I'm currently focused on my health, but I'm also a college student, artist, and hoping to get my degree in psychology. My special interest is cats, and has been since conception. I also love fantasy, comics/graphic novels, reading, painting, storymaking, animals, horror, alternative styles, musical theater, and various medias.

Recently, I've been coming to terms with having polyfragmented DID. For me, having a lot of parts and having a lot of fragments is very stressful, and I like to pretend I don't have as many as I do. But obviously this led to unhealthy behaviors, so I gotta stop. I couldn't tell you how many alters I have, but it's more than I previously said on this account. Here's a rough list of those who mainly front:

I'm not a system, so I don't think I could nor should write Scarecrow with DID, but I would love to hear your headcanons. I really appreciate new view points to stuff like this, especially when it comes from someone with the condition. Please, if you don't mind educating--I'd love to hear what you have to say <3

I have a lot to say so I'm going to put it under the cut so people who just follow for art don't get a wall of text.

If anyone else in our systems wants to add their own headcanons, they'll probably add it in a reblog because, in a specfically ironic system way, we have too many thoughts on this!

DISCLAIMER: I'm just one pwDID, not a medical professional. I've been diagnosed for nearly decade years but not all systems have or want to be medically diagnosed nor does DID/other forms of systemhood manifest in the same ways for everyone. This is not a post to debate systems on or for discourse.

Firstly, does DC Comics write DID and other plurality well? No. Does DID make someone a murder? No (side eyes every DC property where they give Scarecrow or another rogue DID and an evil alter).

Scarecrow having DID would not make them evil nor should they be wrote with a evil alter. They would be a person with DID who happens to also be a bit of an evil asshole.

So headcanons:

I think Scarecrow would have not been diagnosed until after ending up in Arkham but had suspicions of it and had been working on system communication based on their own knowledge as a doctor

They experience quite bad dissocaitive amensia and other dissociation which they can find quite disabling and disorientating but as a quite quiet person tend to keep this distress to themself.

They technically have 2 co-hosts of the system who front just as frequently as each.

I think their system overall prefers to be referred to as Scarecrow as a collective name (our systems collective name is PJ or Phantoms)

Thier cohost are Jonathan (he/him), who identifies closest with thier body, and The Hessian (it/it), an introject of the Headless Horseman from Sleepy Hollow.

The Hessian was formed as a protector to cope with thier abuse growing up and tends to front when they are doing Scarecrow crimes/fighting Batman as it tends to be more confident and less nervous then Jonathan.

Hessian is alot more confident when talking to people it has a crush on then Jonathan who tends to just go non-verbal if flirted with.

Jonathan however is the one who actually makes fear toxin and is just as deadly but in a more manipulative social way (Hessian is not the most socially aware). Jonathan tended to front for their job and he is more of an ANP (apparently normal part) though still struggles with severe anxiousness.

They have a few other alters who front less often including a trauma holder little named Keeney (named after their mothers' surname, any pronouns) who only really fronts around certain other rogues and friends who they feel safe with (e.g., Harley, Jervis etc.) or when fear toxined.

I also want to say they are all definitely autistic and their singing of nursey rhymes is just a stimming and grounding technique that Hessian uses when feeling switchy.

I think as well they have one alter who identifies as a woman which caused Jonathan alot of identity crisises as when she is co-con with him.

I don't think she often tells people when she's fronting and most peole don't know her name (Raven).

She is a bit of asshole and their systems' main persecutor as in she tries to keep them safe but just pushes people away out of a fear of being hurt and repeats the abuse they recieved from their grandmother as child in an attempt to keep them 'safe' by trying to follow those unfair rules.

(Scriddler Time) Edward prides himself of learning to tell whose fronting based on subtle mannerisms (and slight changes in their accent getting stronger) and often calls them by the correct name before they've even realised whose fronting or said so themself. (They secretly appreciate his efforts it makes things so much easier).

Them and the Two Face bond over their systemhood but often make each other very switchy by accident.

So hey~ I have done an intro / hello message before, but I'm more so Lin 2.0, or I think the name I chose to make my "full" name (originally after being shitpost / bugged about "what is my secret full name" by our fiance but I unironically like it as a "full name) Qilin.

I primarily identify with my original "Lin" part, but I am a fused part between a deep innerworld gatekeeper and said original Lin part. As Lin 1.0 I had a lot of struggles with verbal speaking and now its more of a "challenge" than a "struggle".

I am also a mostly recovered CSA trauma holder and a middle (16~). I'm comfortable saying that outright, because honestly, my CSA has become (in a good way) largely irrelevant to my life as a part beyond it being context. That indifference doesn't change what I've been through and my experiences though.

I'm a local artsy kid who really just likes art and honestly, I found that I honestly really love living as a system. At this point, I think I consider myself a "new me" despite having not really changed much.

Riku's like my big sibling (for a lack of preferred sibling term) and Ray's my Boss TM. Chunn is apparently my counter balance as a part which I guess I can take.

I really like Vocaloid, Anime Art (not as into anime itself surprisingly), and Korean / Japanese Hiphop

If it comes up, I might participate in some trauma talk (but I might just keep it to my personal blog @/cheshire-qilin), because I really do feel - ironically, but totally understandably - voices and conversations around trauma in DID spaces tend to be either very limited and/or articulated only in an actively triggered state as conversations seem to be largely ran by ANP-leaning and masking parts. While being considered mostly recovered, being a trauma holding part is a part of my identity even though I don't really have PTSD symptoms to that trauma anymore. It's something I don't mind and kind of enjoy talking about, even if its become so negligible at this point that I dont really know what to say on it.

Anyhow, it seems like I am a tertiary host at least for now so hello~

Synopsis:

Even as the pandemic waned in year-end 2021, the world is replunged into chaos and despair when monsters suddenly invade Earth similar to top-hit novels from South Korea. Hope seemed to shine for humanity when a mysterious system that resembled a game moderating AI granted everyone a chance for abilities to fight back. But as these abilities were segregated into effectiveness by ranks randomly granted to people who faced the monsters firsthand, the previous power dynamics worldwide were tousled overnight.

Sitting at the top of this new pyramid are S-rankers who are granted unique titles by the system itself, and Ube Sorbetes was both fortunate and unfortunate to be crowned as [The King].

Trivia: The Filipino word “HARI”, meaning “King” is a gender neutral term. Used on both male and female. The counterpart “Reyna” or “Queen” was derived from the Spanish word “Reina”. It was imposed by the Spanish colonizers and added gendered words on its traditional Filipino counterparts.

todays baking adventure is a tres leches cake! ive never had nor made one before. and it was surprisingly simple, albeit the shoulder work involved w whipping the eggs was a little taxing (and there was a while there that i was worried the whites were just not going to come together, but they did! i’ve just never done it before so i didnt have a frame of reference) and it’s Baking now, i already made the milk mixture and it’s in the fridge so i can use it right when the cake is cooled. i’m making it for my partner the night before their birthday so we can eat it nice and cold. torn on whether to make the whipped cream frosting tonight or tomorrow, we’ll see what happens ig.

it’s finally nice out and im glad to be able to be outside for extended periods again. i’ve been working a lot on art (and, unfortunately, instagram reels) lately. it’s nice to finally be doing things again but im just so exhausted all the time no matter what. im coping a lot better than say 6 months-a year ago at least. i think that’s in part due to my (cherry) recent fusion, which is interesting. i guess when Girl Who Holds BPD and the Part(s) of Girlboy Who Hyperfixate on Mental Health Topics lower their dissociative barriers and both are having a bad time i come about and im a Regular ANP? been using. dbt skills. and stuff. otherwise just Coping and Vibing idk

giving up control is so... scary? and its hard. because i know theyre trying to help but then the part of me that doubts i even have a system at all comes in like 🗣🗣📢‼ switching with someone who isnt as horribly sad as you means yr faking and yr not grieving artemis like how she is worth!! scum

like. OKAY... i know its not true but shit bro it still feels that way. its kinda weird, i ended up being a mixed part (theres ANPs (apparently normal part) and EPs (emotional part). ANP is like.. what the host IDEALLY would be and i did used to be an ANP but when an ANP ends up holding onto trauma, then yr a mixed part)

so in a perfect world, someone else would bear this pain for me (bob helped with that last time, but i didnt wanna bother them again) and id be at least functional. but i bear my own pain, making it really hard for my system to function because the one whos fronting the most is incapacitated with issues, sorry gang

i know its my fault on some level because i cling on to that pain like a lifeline. my therapist told me a long time ago, that ive been sad for so long that ive grown comforted by the feeling, and. YEAH, thats still true. its like second nature, that whole "oh i dont know who id be if i wasnt sad" type shit

BUMMER, but whatever. im not so bothered by it. but i recognize that yeah, im holding us back. i know i am. if jonas was our host we honestly might have a job by now, or at least wouldve started looking. if elliott was our host, our room wouldnt get so horrible, etc

but cuz im so insistent on feeling everything i can feel, i hardly leave front, and if i do its not for long. im almost obsessed with the misery i feel, cuz its like. its what i know, yknow? my own character is defined by anger and red and blood and WHATEVER, it feels like who i am yknow?

and its SCARY. its scary even if i just LISTEN to them. go at it with a can-do attitude? okay.. even if i looked on the bright side, even if i was happy to create art and started working with some good music, etc, like.. it SOUNDS good but. i cant just forget all my problems. i know they want me to, but its. hard. its so hard man im not done DEALING with them. i dont want them to feel that pain instead. we're stuck in a weird loop where like.. their job is to take the burden of trauma away or soothe me, but my job is to prevent them from getting trauma YOU FEEL ME? its so. INCONVENIENT guys we are not winning 💀
