I'm writing a bigger post about my experience with the new PT yesterday (my head's still full of fog), but aside from being a generally positive experience where my pain was kept to a minimum and she let me guide the intensity of the session, it was also a relief to finally be around someone who understood EDS and wasn't afraid to explicitly roll her eyes at the gatekeeping that goes on with diagnosing people.

We talked briefly about how POTS isn't officially in my health partners file because I "don't meet the criteria" (diagnosis requires a change in the heartbeat of over 30bpm. Mine presented as 29 the one time they tested me while I wasn't in a flare. lol, lmao even.)

But specifically, we were talking about how I don't always present as typically EDS either because I've grown increasingly stiff in parts of my body, and without missing a beat, she said, "Of course you are; pain stiffens the body. It's an inflammatory response."

Like it was the most obvious thing to her and not something I'd need to hedge my way around explaining lest I become An Annoying Patient.

She then went on to detail how a lot of patients referred to her by rheumatology for fibromyalgia are actually hypermobile and are likely good candidates for hEDS screening, but because they're "stiff," they're being missed. But it's not like you, a lowly PT, know better than a rheumatologist (who shouldn't really be diagnosing EDS because it's not a rheumatic disorder), so the patient goes on not getting the full extent of the help they need.

And I remember how it was taking everything in me at that moment to just not to just cry with relief because oh my god. You. You get it.

Al coming back from his travels: Xing was great! I've learned so much about alkahestry, and I think we're really making progress and getting Jerso and Zampano's bodies back! It was really nice to see Mei, and Ling is doing a great job as emperor, and I even got to visit some of Xing's neighbors to the east! I feel like I'm learning more about alchemy and alkahestry every day

I love that the whole fandom agreed Stede topped the first time.

However, if you think that's how they will keep doing it forever you are wrong. Stede finally got the man he wanted and got to do something so good with him it made Edward Teach throw out his leathers and become a housewife, and now that he got a taste, this hedonistic little man who found out what Good Sex With Someone You Love is like, is about to try every flavor of it. he will see Ed having a good time and think 'I want what he's having'

And Ed. Look at him and tell me that's not a man who's willing to do anything to make his boyfriend happy, and this is not a look of somebody who Will introduce this repressed man to his prostate later. That's a service top in the making.

They are two super inventive, imaginative men who are so obsessed with each other and trust each other, who live in the middle of nowhere. if you do not think they will invent 858 new ways to have sex, probably publish a new Kamasútra for queer pirates and publish it in hard binding and sell it at the inn's gift shop, you're wrong

Ed taking the moment back.

How many times did he replay that night under the full moon in his mind? How many times did he wonder what might happen if he leaned in and kissed Stede? How many times must he have wondered if it would have been different?

Then they're standing there, beneath a moon that's not as full, but just as bright. (Just as their relationship may not be as solid, but is still filled with just as much love.)

There's romantic tension. They both feel it. Ed compliments Stede. Stede rambles a bit.

It would have been easy for them to part there.

But Ed repeats a line from their past. One that's held so much meaning to him for so long, but he has no way of knowing if it holds the same significance to Stede. He can only trust that it does.

The last time Ed took a risk in this relationship, he ended up getting hurt. But he STILL tried again. He STILL made himself vulnerable. He STILL made his heart known. After getting so hurt, he put his trust in Stede, in their relationship, and in HIMSELF for KNOWING those feelings again.

And this time they moved toward EACH OTHER.

This is a kiss and a love that is truly shared.

After seeing Ed so broken by Stede abandoning him, seeing him still keep his heart open to love, open to being hurt again, and seeing that be rewarded, is so, so special.
