I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this. Basically came across a post that said "Imagine you're in a car with your brother and you keep telling him "slow down, you're going too fast" and he insists "I've got it under control!" This is such a ridiculously bad post, but some of my favorite highlights:

1) wtf does a losing your legs have to do with driving cars?

5) Jiang Yanli wasn’t killed by Wei Wuxian or his corpse army. She was killed by a “righteous” cultivator who then tried to victim blame her and Wei Wuxian by saying that “well she jumped in my way, if wwx had just died peacefully instead of defending himself against my shixiong, this wouldn’t have happened.” So a better analogy would be that someone shoots up Wei Wuxian’s car, kills Jiang Yanli, and everyone blames Wei Wuxian for it because “well if you didn’t have a car, we wouldn’t have had to shoot you.”

6) …are cars some super unknown technology that Wei Wuxian had to invent because no one knew they were a possibility in this convoluted au, or does op imagine that disabled people get free cars to drive around?

Extra: I love how this analogy just completely neglects the fact that Jiang Cheng was planning on killing Wei Wuxian to steal his “car” before Jiang Yanli died, but it implies that he was always in the car when it was being driven, so methinks that makes him an accomplice, idk 🤷🏽‍♀️

I just read 426 officially, the todoroki family Endeavor congratulations selection sounded so forced.

"You've also been punished already... Can't you just stop now?" The f*ck? Objectively that's not true, the law hasn't punished him at all.

Many stories have cases of child abusers avoiding jail time (usually being disconnected from the family but whatever). But MHA puts a lot of effort telling the audience that Endeavor is well.. putting the effort and bearing a cross. So, when the obvious case of jail time is never brought up, the context of the dialogue sounds stupid. Especially when most of the chapter is in a jail.

I have said this before but i will say it again I completely hate how the todoroki family arc was handled and I wholeheartedly believe that enji todoroki shouldn't of gotten either a redemption or an atonement arc at all.

Enji todoroki doesn't actually end up getting any concequences legally speaking that is when he 100% should of gotten them. Enji should of probably ended up in jail at the end of this arc for his history with child abuse and implied marital 🍇 however that isn't the case and he is simply allowed to do whatever Scott free in a retirement home. It also seems that the public don't actually mind enji and may tolerate heck even accept him even after what he did. This probably has something to do with him stepping up and doing his job as a hero so people may of let it slide which ISNT OKAY!!

In the end all that enji receives is karma and no actual punishments at all. Sure his family leaves him but he is free to do whatever and go visit touya which in my opinion is something that he shouldn't be allowed to do.

I have already said this but my preferred route for enji is to have him never be redeemed. I would of liked for him to die as a worthless and abusive father who never got to realise that maybe he should of changed as his own actions have caught up to him in the form of his own son touya. Enjis death in the first war arc would of ended up serving many plot points justice including his and this is by:

Having there be actual pressure for heroes and anyone in the hero industry that there is no number one and that they're all in danger

Give more focus to the todorokis

Give enji what he deserved by having him taste his own medicine (dying by touyas flames would of been ironic)

Also drive the touya and shoto role because when enji dies there will probably be mixed reactions and some would glorify his last actions

Allow for characters to get more agency that was suppressed to humanise enji like the Rei and hawks

Parallel his arc with bakugo which would make bakugos redemption more impactful (if bks redemption is done right that is)

But yeah it's such a shame that a big plot point in the series ended like this and to be honest I feel bad for touya who just has to slowly suffer and die at least Shigaraki had the mercy of a quick death (I still hate both their endings and hori flopped so badly)

i like lya and i like rhaegar and i think there is a lot of really interesting potential in their relationship but both the most popular fanon reads of it (either rhaegar was a weird creepy dracula abducting a meek helpless mina OR they were both totally perfectly in true chivalric love and lya LOVED being barefoot and pregnant in JAIL) are dull and inaccurate to what will be revealed as canon (imo!)

also i think most of the people who are super into r/lya are the mauraders of the asoiaf fandom like these are not real characters these are dead people who serve as set dressing and we only know them through the warped memories of our heavily biased povs dogstar isn't real and neither is this

i love t4t paldulcie and i think it adds a level to them never seeing each other and only knowing what the other looks like by self description and how cam turned those descriptions to portrait. iirc dulcie said she wanted her portrait after she died to be the one cam drew for her and that always read read as very trans coded for me, the desire to be remembered visually as she had been known by the ones who actually got to know her as the person she wanted to be (or came as close to knowing her as she was able to let them) instead of the dying symbol / figurehead her illness and house status had relegated her to

YOU GET IT and there is such an overlap of that trans experience with how like.... if you are a type of sick that drastically impacts your appearance, especially if you experience that chronically starting from childhood, there's just this compounded body horror of having never really gotten to live and desperately not wanting to die but also specifically not wanting to die looking like this. not wanting people to remember you like this. not being, necessarily, *in control* of if people remember you like this.

and there's like, the intimate horror of feeling trapped by the physical shell you exist in and knowing your memory will be distorted that is especially relevant to Dulcie as a young person with cancer who is literally held up as a figurehead/symbol of her house, and has been held up as such for her entire life. the horror that people will forget who you were in exchange for the inspiratory figure they want you to be. when you are valorized to absurdity, but no one notices or cares because you were a young person with cancer who died and once you're dead it becomes about everyone else instead.

And the almost comically massive differences between the memory-of-you-and-you wrt critical illness is magnified and.. explicitified? made more explicit? when it is, again, a horror that is compounded by being trans in a way I think can be sooooooo narrativly meaty. a lot of room to play around in here.

I’m actually starting to love the idea of Grace and Diana becoming friends (or at least comrades) after Ch. 1. They’re both easily the most grief-stricken over Wolfgang’s death and will both no doubt cope with it in unhealthy ways (Grace will likely double down on her aggressiveness and distrust of everyone around her and Diana will try to copy Wolfgang and likely fail), but I can see them eventually having a heart-to-heart over it (maybe in the second half of Ch. 2’s Daily Life or in Ch. 3). They both also lost a bunk buddy and might start sharing a room (again, probably not for a while until Grace starts getting character development).

Also, in the CG of everyone in the trial room at the end of the prologue, it kind of looks like Diana is looking at Grace in concern (the latter did just got her face suddenly grazed by a bullet, so it makes sense, but still). And in Grace’s echo art, both normal Grace and the Grace with Diana’s hair are sitting in a field with content expressions, which might be foreshadowing their eventual friendship.

Sorry if this sounds incoherent or clunky, but I’m really hoping they become friends later on (and are both survivors, but that’s wishful thinking).

Grace and Diana being allies is such a 50/50 that I can't confidently predict how they will end. I can see them having a heart to heart about their grief about Wolfgang (and perhaps their some feelings about Eva as well cuz it seems like Grace didn't even really mind Eva much after the talent reveal until it turned out she murdered her friend but even then I don't she thought she deserved to die like that) and I would want that for them, but I feel like that would happen much later, if at all. However, Diana trying to mimic Wolfgang is something I can also see putting Grace off-- and rightfully so, if that'll be the case. Someone impersonating the mannerisms and behaviours of a loved one that literally died yesterday in such a horrible way while you're still guilt and grief stricken will likely rub you the wrong way entirely, and since Grace will no doubt be a lot more aggressive and anti social as a result of everything in Chapter 2 I can see that being a further motivator for her hating Diana too (as well as misplaced blame for everything that happened with Eva).

Also, despite the fact that they're the only two left without a bunk buddy, there's no guarantee that they'll be bunking together. Especially after a murder, the shattered illusion of hope with it the confirmation that the people around her are indeed capable of murder (and very gruesome ones at that), I don't think Grace will be willing to be vulnerable enough to sleep in the same room as someone else for a long while. She wouldn't want to be alone in foreign territory that is someone else's room, and with how protective she is of both hers and Wolfgang's rooms even after his passing she'd be damned leaving them unguarded, I think.

I think Grace's Echo art being of her with a version of herself that looks like Diana can be foreshadowing for them getting along later down the line (especially since her "what are you?" in the imitation art book answers "a friend"), but I think it really depends on where both of their characters will go. Right now, I can see Grace being more ideologically aligned with Damon than Diana (but only on the inevitability of more murders and being paranoid of the people around them, her and Damon are pretty incompatible otherwise surprisingly), however Damon is... well, Damon. Even ignoring how much of a dickhead he is, he had a lot of involvement in Wolfgang's murder and I'm on the fence on whether or not she will hold him to it (she should. she should punch him again actually). Diana is a decent candidate of the few that can even be entertained as a possibility of becoming her friend but that's only because it will actually snow in hell the day Grace considers Wenona, Eloise, Desmond, Jett, Mark or Ulysses a "friend". And Cass, Jean and literally everyone else are on some thin ice here-- including Diana. I think Wolfgang will be the closest she is willing to be to someone in this killing game, however I do hope that she can get some allies she can trust despite that. I can see her burning bridges and ruining her chances with people due to her paranoia and aggressive/antagonistic behaviour (as well as her blackmail potentially being revealed by Eloise and ruining her credibility due to how fucked up it sounds out of context), which would be a very cruel play on how "history repeats" with her, but by God I just want this woman to have friends. God knows she needs at least that much.

DIANA AND GRACE WILL SURVIVE!!! DIANA AND GRACE WILL SURVIVE THE WHOLE GAME TRUST (well Diana is kinda cooked actually but Grace will live and have the best character arc trust 🤞)!!!

I have a lot of older conservative relatives, most of them are surprisingly sympathetic towards Luigi (though a lot of it has to do with him being a handsome white man, rather than any appreciation for his supposed bravery.)

They’ve suffered decades of denied claims, and have lived long enough to realise that there is no peaceful way to fight back at the system. Regular people have no legal recourse to seek justice when we’re screwed over. Most of us are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy. The American healthcare system is so skewed, so evil, I don’t quite know how to express it to someone who hasn’t experienced it first-hand.

And yet, “murder is bad” is so deeply ingrained in them that they think he deserves some sort of punishment. They don’t want him to go away for life, but they’re also too stupid to realise that the chance to “reasonably” punish him ended back in December. He needs us Americans to disregard the evidence shown to us in court, to display some collective moral intelligence for once, to do the right thing even when it’s the antithesis of the law. We have to vote Not Guilty even if they show is a goddamn Livestream of Luigi doing it.

Unfortunately Americans as a collective voted for this disaster. And the disaster is much bigger than what’s happening to Luigi. Look at the state of the country. I’ve been asking every older conservative I know, and they genuinely want him to “do a few years” not realising that few years is not an option. They simply cannot justify letting a killer walk free, no matter how justified the crime. These idiots don’t understand how it works. They don’t know that it’s all or nothing. If we don’t save him, he’s going to meet a fate much darker than Brian Thompson did.

I will tell you this, the hardcore MAGAs want him to fry. There are people who vote red because they’re genuinely conservative, and there he has some chance, but the ones who vote conservative out of malice? They want him tortured and executed in public. i've had basically this exact conversation a few times and there are more asks currently waiting in my inbox talking about this, and i think Luigi's only hope of walking lies in KFA's capability of enforcing voir dire to make sure that he gets a female majority jury, with most people being people of colour. i cannot frankly see any hope otherwise.

How many forms of the 72 changes could cultivated animals/yaoguai handle? You said that the heavenly soldiers could only handle a limited number.

I don't think I said that they "could only handle" like it's not a requirement.

It's more like an observation. And this is my PERSONAL take based on these observations

Overpowered (Wukong and Erlang) - 72 transformations

Powerful (Highest rank soldiers/runaway heaven yaogaui)- 36 transformations

Strong (Most celestial solider/Demon Kings) - 18 transformations

Impressive (training immortals/stronger earth yaoguai) - 1 to 2 spells

Common (most yaoguai) - humanoid body

Weak (cultivating yaoguai) - cannot speak

We see that Wukong having 72 transformations is considered unusual. On the level of like a once-in-an-immortal-lifetime kind of genius that happens once in a million years. The only other person we see with this same power is Erlang Shen who is considered the best fighter in all of heaven and the only man that can go toe-to-toe with Wukong. I cannot stress enough how powerful Wukong is as a demon and how he being able to single-handling take on all of heaven is something very unusual and a massive threat within himself.

So from that we can easily assume since only the two most powerful characters in the novel have the 72 transformations have this kind of power that this is not common and that other demons shouldn't not be able to have it. Personally I think that no one else but Wukong and Erlang have this level or even come close.

Then we see what is the next level with is the 36 transformations. This is what we see that Zhu Bajie has. Bajie who was the Canopy Marshall of the Reeds, who was in charge of 80,000 men alone and only answered to the Jade Emporer himself because he was so highly ranked. From this observation, we can assume that Marshalls or other extremely high-positioned celestial soldiers have the 36 transformations. Pretty much every powerful celestial that isn't Erlang Shen himself.

I would argue that only MAYBE some Demon King could have 36 transformations, but this is highly unlikely as most yaoguai cultivate through eating humans and not through proper training under a teacher. There could be leeway that perhaps heaven-runaway animals that claim to have cultivated through heaven-means could have this power. This makes it so that maybe 5 Demon Kings out of the nearly 30 could have this level of transformation, and especially the ones that have said they cultivated because they gained knowledge in heaven, not just ran away. I would say this is like Yellow Wind Demon, Yellow Robe Demon, Golden and Silver Horned Kings, Scorpion Demon, and Bull Demon King.

And last is the 18 transformations. This is what we see what Sha Wujing has and he was a Curtain-Lifting General, which is a slightly higher position but we can assume to be closer to the common celestial solider power-wise. This is what I believe that most celestial soldiers have been able to master and is the standard. And what I think that most Demon Kings are able to master as well. I would find it impressive if Demon King could gain a human form, let alone master other spells. I would say this is like Black Wind King, White Bone Demon, Singled Horned Rhino King, Nine-Headed Insect, Jupiter's Rival, Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord, and White Deer Spirit.

We see only higher rank demons like Generals able to perform maybe one or two transformations and that was to escape combat. Only Demon King seem to have one to more than one spells. Or we see that some demons are able to master serval spells I would but they are not powerful as Wukong is easily able to overpower them. I say these impressive demons are like Tiger Vangarud, Tiger Immortal, Elk Immortal, Antelope Immortal, all Eight Tree Spirits, all Seven Spider sisters, and Iron-Backed Grey Wolf.

As for normal everyday yaogaui that have cultivated on their own I would say that they are not capable of transformation spells at all. Most demons we see on this journey are underlings and we see none (that I remember) perform any spells. Just that they are able to cultivate by eating humans to understand language and gain a humanoid body takes all their accumulated power, and they are under a teacher to learn more, they are following a demon king to serve. We see this like Sly Devil, Wily Worm, Hill-Pawing Tiger, Sea-Lolling Draong, Going and Coming, and Springe Grace.

And demons that are still cultivating and cannot speak like the Python Demon.

I would love to know how the writer for my hero chooses who dies bc a lot of the deaths just seem so random in a way I can't quiet explain like sir nighteyes death the end of the fight happens and nighteye makes it to the medics alive but dies in the hospital? like I get they wanted that bit with all might and Mirio but the pacing was just off
