My two babies meeting each other (they’re bonding over being British)
They purposely have similar designs btw cus I thought it’d be funny, like how some of the boys have a ‘girl counterpart/version’ in some eps.

Matthew Olmos is a musician, sound artist, audio/mastering engineer, and Nahuatl language learner and instructor. David Marcelino Cayetano is a teacher of the Nahuatl language and culture, poet, musician, muralist, filmmaker, medicine guardian and defender of the First Nations and has been active since 2015. Cuitlahuac Arreola Martinez is a Nahuatl language learner and teacher and Indigenous language activitist that has been active since 2016. From Martinez's language work at Marsh Park, Eastside Café and LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes in Los Angeles, CA from 2016 through 2018, he founded Speaknahuatl.com in 2018 as an online space for people of other places to come learn the language and be in community.
Olmos first met Martinez in 2017 at Eastside Café, a community space where Martinez and other members of the Tlahtoltapazolli collective taught Nahuatl language and culture every Sunday. Olmos returned to classes online in 2020 and eventually became an instructor.
Martinez first crossed paths with Cayetano on Instagram Live in 2021 when Cuitlahuac was giving a free lesson. From there, they connected online via video calls and formed a bond that turned into companionship and collaboration that revolved around teaching the language, culture and cosmovision with a focus on Indigenous rights from a decolonial lense.
In Spring 2021, Cayetano's and Martinez's first project was an online movie screening of "Tsontiajakatl / El último viento" from Cayetano's Bironga Films. This lead to Cayetano joining as a teacher and has been teaching with the collective ever since. Together with Olmos, they are a community-oriented Nahuatl language and culture collective dedicated to educating individuals of all age groups. They continually integrate effective language teaching methods, with dedicated teachers, students and their commitment to their online and in-person community via Indigenous language revitalization, reclamation, preservation, activism, arts, and cultures across Abya Yala (North, Central & South Americas).
With a strong commitment to Indigenous language advocacy and activism, their work is structured around the four seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Their core objective revolves around empowering their community via language, culture and the arts. They achieve this by facilitating Nahuatl language and culture classes, film screenings, workshops and speaking engagements at colleges, universities, museums, community spaces and theater companies.
These community engagements can be enjoyed both in-person and online to ensure accessibility for all. They also offer translation services that seamlessly bridges the gap between Spanish, English and Nahuatl. Charges have been filed against a third family member accused of participating in a shootout that left one man dead and three injured in Lakewood.
Pierce County prosecutors charged Juan Lucas-Gonzalez, 28, with first-degree murder, three counts of first-degree attempted murder, drive-by shooting and first-degree conspiracy to commit murder for the Aug. 25 shooting, court records show.
Lucas-Gonzalez is reportedly a full-time machinist at Boeing, according to court documents.
Julio Cesar Lucas, 41, and Matthew Cesar Lucas, 23, who are father and son, were charged in late September. Bail was set at $3 million for Julio, and $2 million for Matthew, The News Tribune previously reported.
Eduardo Mendoza Molinero, 20, was charged on Sept. 23 with the same crimes as the other defendants. He is facing an additional charge for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. His bail was set to $2 million.
Molinero was sentenced on Friday to 50 months in prison after pleading guilty in August to two counts of second-degree assault in an unrelated case. He will remain in custody at Pierce County Jail for the murder charges.
A plea of not guilty was entered on Lucas-Gonzalez’s behalf at his arraignment on Monday. Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner Philip Thornton set his bail at $2 million.
All four men are accused of killing 33-year-old Jose Lemus Castillo of Tacoma.
Charging details
Lakewood police officers were dispatched at 7:30 p.m. to reports of multiple people shooting at each other at 82nd Street South and 33rd Avenue South near a mobile home park. Upwards of 60 rounds were fired, and four people were shot, according to charging documents.
About 60 people in the area were frantically yelling and pointing when police arrived. A 2003 white Toyota Sienna van had crashed into the guard rail and was “riddled with bullet holes,” prosecutors wrote.
Castillo was lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was taken to Madigan Army Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Three other people were injured, documents show.
Julio and Matthew Lucas were identified as the shooting suspects through witness statements and surveillance footage that allegedly showed their 2020 Chevrolet Silverado truck driving away.
Activity from Matthew and Julio Lucas’s phones allegedly aligned with the truck’s reported movements before and after the shooting, documents show.
They were arrested on Sept. 19 in Arlington, Washington, without incident. Firearms and ammunition were reportedly found at the residence. Prosecutors wrote that the Silverado had a set of new tires, and a set of the damaged tired were inside a barn/garage.
Julio Lucas’s wife told detectives that her husband, Matthew Lucas and someone named “Angel” left the house together the day of the shooting. “Angel” was identified as Lucas-Gonzalez, prosecutors wrote. Lucas-Gonzalez is a relative of Julio Lucas’s.
Lucas-Gonzalez was with Julio and Matthew Lucas at a Home Depot following the shooting after the Silverado’s tires had blown out, according to another relative, prosecutors wrote. Surveillance footage allegedly showed a person matching Lucas-Gonzalez’s physical description in the Home Depot’s parking lot, mostly interacting with Julio Lucas.
Prior to the shooting, Lucas-Gonzalez and Matthew Lucas allegedly were seen on surveillance at a sporting goods store in Snohomish County purchasing a handgun magazine and ammunition between 3:04 p.m. and 3:06 p.m.
Phone records from Lucas-Gonzalez allegedly showed a similar pattern of movement as Julio and Matthew Lucas’s on the day of the shooting, prosecutors wrote.
He was arrested on Oct. 4 after a bench warrant was issued. Lucas-Gonzalez does not have any known criminal convictions, court records show.
A motive for the shooting has not been divulged.

The Representation of Race in Netflix Show On My Block
Representation in the media, which we are constantly surrounded by, is a topic that is being questioned in our society each day. Whether this applies to race, gender, sexuality, or all combined, representation in the media is crucial to shaping the opinions and attitudes people have towards others, especially minorities.
“...media are not insignificant audio-visual outlets that merely entertain and inform, but they are culturally expressive conduits that have the power to transform the popular imaginary into real world practices of love and hate, peace and violence” (Castañeda, 1).
Representation in the media is key to breaking stereotypes and forming valid conclusions about different groups.
LD-102423-Your-child-needs-these-3-factors-clients-edit (youtube.com)
This blog will specifically focus on the portrayals and representations of race in the hit Netflix show On My Block.
All forms of representation are crucial in shaping how the public views minority groups or the “other”. This counts too for racial representation, as the TV shows and movies we watch on the day-to-day, unconsciously or not, affect and shape our opinions and views towards minorities. Therefore, if the content we are consuming is reaffirming stereotypes and microaggressions towards minorities, we will carry those attitudes into the real world and reaffirm racism and discrimination here, too.
“The limited media diversity not only creates limited understanding of the social world, but can also produce real violence,...(Castañeda, 3).
Since the beginning of media, many minorities have been underrepresented and misrepresented. This rings true especially for Black and Latino communities (Dixon, 1), with them having either no representation at all, or often “representation” that reinforces discriminatory and untrue stereotypes.
In terms of Black representation, it was found that Black people of color are represented the most negatively in TV shows and movies out of any race or ethnic group. Black individuals and communities are often portrayed as lazy and disheveled (Dixon, 5).
In the representations of Latino people in TV and movies, they are often hypersexualized and put in low-professional-status roles (Dixon, 7).
African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, and Asian Americans (all historically marginalized and underrepresented) are often portrayed in the media as “hypersexual, violent, unintelligent, dishonest, and consistently poor” (Castañeda, 7).
TV shows like South Park and Family Guy reinforce many pre-existing, negative stereotypes about various races.
South Park Museum of Tolerance Racist Stereotypes (youtube.com)
Movies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Dumbo (1941) also reinforce multiple stereotypes, most prevalently those regarding Black and Asian Americans.
These shows and movies, among many others and, available at the click of a button (to pretty much all ages) misrepresent minority groups, further perpetuating racism and reinforcing our already biased ways of society.
Let’s skip to a brighter note.
In Netflix’s On My Block many minorities are represented accurately and persistently!
A step in the right direction for many marginalized communities!
In On My Block, we get a look into the life of Black and Latino teens growing up in South Central Los Angeles.
The four main characters:
Monse
Ruby
Jamal
Cesar
We follow this crew along in the show as they navigate through high school, relationships, and more difficult, but all too real topics like gang violence.
On My Block: Season 3 | Inside The Characters | Netflix (youtube.com)
There are few white people on the show, with emphasis on Black and Latino individuals and their perspectives (Matthews).
This diversity extends outside of the screen, too. Diego Tinoco (Cesar) stated in an interview, “We had Asian directors, Latino producers, Latino writers, African American writers,” “Everybody on screen is of color and everybody on the crew is of color" (Matthews).
Representation behind the scenes is something largely ignored but highly important. Diversifying staff and calling out misrepresentation is key to improving the portrayals of minorities (Yuen).
Brett Gray (Jamal) said in an interview that it’s important to make shows like On My Block to contribute to positive representation of POC “because they exist…and have the right to feel validated and appreciated” (Yandoli).
This kind of inclusivity is essential to proper representation in the media. White perspectives are not all perspectives.
On My Block sheds light on diverse communities and their tight-knit relationships. It sparks discussion on real topics that we do not see everyday in our media.

The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour - 017 09/07/23 Defy TV 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM EST Filmed at the Good Time Theatre at Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania
SEGMENT ONE (EIGHT MINUTES):
- The show opened with an In Memoriam graphic for Adnan Al-Kaissie.
- We joined Sudu Upadhyay at the commentary booth where he introduced his new broadcast partner, Raven. Raven was seated behind the booth with a tablet in front of him, Raven pressed his finger to the tablet and a clip of Squiggy from Laverne & Shirley saying "Hello!" played. Sudu welcomed Raven to the show and he again pressed the tablet this time triggering a clip of Bobby Bittman from SCTV asking, "How Are Ya?" Sudu questioned Raven about his contraption, to which Raven explained the Defy TV people thought Sudu was a little dour recently, so they gave him this soundboard to give the program a little juice. He then proceeded to play a variety of sound effects including horns, springs, and canned laughter. Sudu runs down the lineup for today's show but Raven plays a clip of Columbo saying "Just one more thing." Raven says that later in the broadcast he will present the first episode of his new interview series A Taste Of Honey and his special guest will be the hottest free agent in wrestling who has been making headlines all week since their sudden departure from AEW.
- The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour opening aired set to "Black Swan Lake" by Janko Nilovic.
Kevin Blackwood and Alan Angels vs. Alan Clayball and Sage Matthews Kevin Blackwood and Alan Angels defeated Alan Clayball and Sage Matthews with the Wing Snapper into the doublestomp on Clayball. (3:33)
SEGMENT TWO (SEVEN MINUTES):
- We return from break to a title card reading, "A Taste Of Honey - Brought To You By Bob Evans". We see an establishing shot of the Bob Evans restaurant in Phoenixville, PA before cutting inside where we are shown Raven seated at a table drizzling honey over a short stack of pancakes. Raven introduces his guest, saying they are the talk of the wrestling world since leaving AEW last week. Raven was joined at his table by Sonny Kiss. Sonny Kiss claimed that Ari Daivari bought out their AEW contract so that Sonny could come to CORE to personally oversee the TrustBusters Reserve. Sonny said that Hyan and Trench were already on the bubble, but following a first round loss at Trios Kingdom no one in the TrustBusters Reserve is safe. And apparently that goes double for Invictus Khash after his recent loss teaming with local talent on Ring Of Honor television. While taking a bite of his honey soaked pancakes, Raven voiced his surprise at the claim that Ring Of Honor is on television. Sonny announced that over the next few weeks, matches have been made for every current and prospective member of the TrustBusters Reserve, and the first two will take place during this very broadcast.
Hyan vs. Jazzy Yang Hyan defeated Jazzy Yang with the Beauty Sleep. (2:45)
- We cut to a shot of Starboy Charlie in Dorney Park watching the closing moments of a Peanuts stage show. As Snoopy hangs ten on a surfboard, Alex Taylor takes a seat next to Starboy. The two exchange pleasantries and we learn that Kerry Morton informed Starboy that someone from his Southern Six group would meet him here to take the place of the injured Marcus Mathers and Brogan Finlay. Starboy asks that besides Kerry Morton, Kenzie Paige, Silas Mason, and Alex Taylor, who are the other two members of the Southern Six? Alex Taylor tells Starboy that he could be one of them if he plays his cards right. Starboy points out that he's not from the south. Taylor slaps Starboy Charlie on the back and with a laugh states that Charlie is from Southern California after all before walking off into the park. Starboy Charlie rubs his own shoulder while saying to no one in particular that he's actually from the Bay Area.
SEGMENT THREE (NINE MINUTES):
Andrew Everett and "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams vs. TrustBusters Reserve (Big Dan Champion and Joshua Bishop) - During the match Joshua Bishop knocked Andrew Everett off the ring apron to prevent Hot Sauce from making the hot tag. Everett was grabbed and pulled into the audience. Jake Something and Vincent Nothing could be seen attacking him within the crowd. Tracy Williams was left to fend for himself in the ring. TrustBusters Reserve defeated Andrew Everett and "Hot Sauce" Tracy Williams with the Bishop Bomb from Bishop followed by a running splash from Big Dan on Hot Sauce. (5:34)
- After the match, Jake Something and Vincent Nothing went to the commentary booth to be interviewed. Jake Something voiced his frustrations with Giant Baba Yaga acting like she was the star of the group, Jake said that Baba intimidates her opponents by hiding behind a mask, but once they reveal her true identity everyone will know that she can be beaten. Raven pressed Something to reveal Giant Baba Yaga's name, Something disclosed that they've never seen her without the mask, but they have a plan. With that UltraMantis Black made his way to the interview area and asked if that was a challenge. Jake Something said there was nothing he'd enjoy more than a singles match with Baba, but they don't need to win a match to expose her. Something said that before their "disagreement" at Trios Kingdom, Mantis sent them a full itinerary for the month of September and they saw that Giant Baba Yaga is scheduled for a match on the September 21st episode of the Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour. Something said that there are only a handful of people in wrestling of Baba Yaga's stature. Something said that UltraMantis will soon be hearing about this from Baba Yaga, but he'll spoil it now; Jake Something will be using his signing bonus from Impact Wrestling to book every possible suspect to appear on September 21st during Baba’s match and the one person that doesn't show must be under the mask.
SEGMENT FOUR (EIGHT MINUTES):
The Production (Derek Dillinger and Magnum CK) vs. Derrick King and Ray Ray Sanders The Production defeated Derrick King and Ray Ray Sanders with a superplex from Magnum into a second rope moonsault from Dillinger on Sanders. (3:01)
. The Production continued to attack their opponents after the match. Fuego Del Sol led a group of CORE officials, referees, and local talent to ringside and The Production finally left the ring.
- We joined Daphne Oz at the CORE news desk for a complete recap of Trios Kingdom 2023 on the COal REgion Roundup.
SEGMENT FIVE (TEN MINUTES):
Team JTO (TAKA Michinoku/Ren Ayabe/Fire Katsumi/Akira Juumonji) vs. Black Generation International (Titus Alexander/Kaito Ishida/Flamita/Yutani) Black Generation International defeated Team JTO with a Chaos Theory from Alexander on TAKA. (8:50)
SEGMENT SIX (THREE MINUTES):
- Sudu and Raven closed out the show. Sudu previewed all the action for our episode next week and thanked CORE's newest promotional partner, Bob Evans Restaurants. Sudu thanks Raven which prompts a soundboard clip of John Witherspoon from Friday saying, "that's my pleasure!" Raven signed off and then played a sound clip of a door slamming shut to end the broadcast.
Next Week On The Great Pro-Wrestling Adventure Hour 2023 Trios Kingdom Winners The 37KAMIINA (MAO/Yuki Ueno/Toi Kojima) vs. Black Generation International (Yutani/Bendito/Emperador Azteca) Queen Aminata (with Raychell Rose) vs. Xia Brookside Also in action… folkstyle The Production Starboy Charlie and Alex Taylor

Hello! I was just wondering what your favorite books are. I noticed that you seem to post about books I really like but no one around me has ever read (like The Blue Castle), so I was just curious if we had other book favorites in common!
Sincerely,
Sirius:)
I don't know if I can narrow it down to a top 20 or anything, but I can provide a list of a few of my favorite authors and the books of their I most love. My taste isn't terribly obscure--most of the more obscure books were recommended to me by people here on tumblr--so it's likely we share several favorites.

Novotney: This is Our America
A millimeter to the left, and Donald J. Trump would have been shot in the face and a former U.S. President would have been assassinated. That’s the reality of it all because that was the intention of a 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a man from a community just one hour from downtown Wheeling. Not in New York City, or Chicago, or Los Angeles, but just up interstates 70 and 79. Just up by South Hills Village. In Bethel Park, a borough of more than 30,000 people where Peter’s Township and Mount Lebanon are nearby neighborhoods. That’s right, this one is much closer to home than any of us likes to admit, and that’s because we enjoy believing those nasty, hateful, awful, and ugly tragedies “never happen around here.” Instead, his right ear was injured by one of the five shots fired by Crooks, but one person (husband and father of two, Corey Comperatore) was killed and two were critically injured (now in stable condition) in an act of “political violence.” That’s the same term used to describe the killings of former presidents Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy, what took place with the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Political violence. Like Kent State, the desegregation of public schools in Alabama, and yes folks, like the Civil War, and domestic terrorism. We don’t know Crook’s “Why” or everything about his preparation just yet, and we also don’t know how the gunman remained undetected by Secret Service until he took his clear shots. What we do know is if Trump had not moved his head when he did, the former president would be a dead former president, and we also know Crooks was, truly, a child who believed his way was the right way to improve at least his world view. Folks on both sides of the political aisle are now calling for a “toning down” of the rhetoric and dialing back the aggression, and that’s a very good idea right now. But what we need to take away from what took place just up the road near Pittsburgh is the fact Thomas Matthew Crooks appeared to have learned that, in politics, one should push it way across the line and worry about apologizing for it later. Well, Crooks can’t do that, now can he? Read the full article
