I am not a part of any proship movement so I will not speak to anything involving that.
There can be good things gained when talking about when a fandom treats a character like shit because they're black, or a woman, or because the media these characters are from treats the character like that to begin with. But there is a real feeling in fandom right now that these discussions are a replacement for real activism.
I was specifically trying to respond to the idea that the reason we see racism and misogyny and ableism in a new fandom we move to is because we didn't police it in the previous one hard enough.
The way I interpreted OP's posts is that they're suggesting fandom works like:
Tumblr media
When actually it's working like:
Tumblr media
We might change a couple of minds here or there, but the overall problems with fandom is, in fact, that people entering into it are from a culture that has those problems.
Also, OP saying we can't 'let people do what they want' makes me envision nothing more than the harassment of marginalized creators for not writing fanfiction a certain way. Because I see this far more often than helpful critique of various -isms in fandom. So you're right, I do view the maturity of fandoms cynically. I tend to view posts like this one with a bad faith reading.
But I find it a little insulting that you immediately jump to wondering if I actually want these issues to be solved in the first place. I do. I've also seen that this line of thinking more often leads to antis/feelings yakuza/lil morals cops being empowered to shriek their holier-than-thou beliefs at people for writing darkfic than anything effective.
the problem with 'let people do what they want' is that fandom spaces will churn out the same bigoted content into perpetuity

Me being proship has nothing to do with your trauma. It's not about you.

I (26, NB) dropped a long-term friend (23, not disclosing gender, I'll call them X) for being a proshipper, and now they're trying to get in the way of my other friendships.
A little more than a month ago, an old friend from when I was an itty bitty teen on the internet (we met when they were 12 and I was 15 or so) messaged me on twitter asking if we could share discord since they're more active on that platform, and they missed hanging out. Ok, no prob!! I missed talking to X and life was going kinda icky for me at the time. We exchanged discords and started talking more frequently, before we would talk through twitter dms maybe one day every few months, and we went from almost no contact to talking every single day. It was like being a teenager again; we still shared similar interests and we really fast clicked over old and new fandoms we were in. We talked about college and how they're starting to get the hang of their new job but needed support, talked about our family lives, etc., and in general I felt really comfortable and happy to be chatting again with someone I've known for so long. We were inseparable for weeks.
However... of course, as adults, and having known each other for YEARS, we started talking about fandom ships and fics we enjoyed. We didn't have the same taste in pairings, but that was okay. Until it wasn't anymore.
I shared my NSFW twitter with them, and they followed me. A few minutes later X told me, "I see you have "proship DNI in your bio, I just want to let you know that I am a pro-ship and enjoy some things in fandom that you might think is gross. I hope that's okay."
I was kind of weirded out, and told them that as long as they didn't like anything that would be criminal in real life, that's fine. They told me they *did* enjoy things in fiction that they "wouldn't condone in reality" and even though they "don't talk about it publicly" they still wanted me to know. For some reason. ?? Even though they KNOW that I have an irl history of abuse as a kid, they still told me this.
I was so fucking uncomfortable and really, really sad, and honestly I felt betrayed? I stepped away from my account for like, an hour before messaging them back and saying I didn't want to continue talking to them anymore. That I didn't know they were that kind of person and I'm not comfortable being their friend. I didn't read their response to me because I soft-blocked them.
While I was getting over that and trying to move on, a few days later I was talking to another mutual friend of ours when they asked if I was still friends with X. I got chills remembering how I broke off with them, and said no, we weren't talking anymore. That they were the kind of person that made me really uneasy and uncomfortable to be around. The mutual friend, I'll call R, said that X was "feeling kind of down about losing a friend recently" and talked about it in a discord server they share. X didn't mention my name but R wondered if it was me who dropped them since I was really touchy about boundaries online. I freaked out a little thinking about them talking about me, and asked what else they said, and R told me "not much, just that they felt sad but it was your choice in the end because you two were different" and I don't know why but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Were they trying to make people seem like I was the bad guy or something?? Idk.
I told R the reason why I stopped talking to X, and that X is a proshipper who likes things like inc*st and rape, and R wasn't as supportive as I thought he would be, saying that he understood how I felt but if X was being honest and open about their interests, it probably meant they trusted me and didn't want to "lie" to me. I don't understand how that's even relevant if X is a fucking proshipper. I don't want their trust in the first place if that's who they really are, and I felt betrayed that someone I knew for so long was hiding that for me until we were bonding again. R basically dropped it there and said "idk then" and I told him I was going to shut off my notifs for a bit. I really don't want to talk with him again right now especially since he didn't seem THAT bothered by X being a proshipper who's into really criminal shit.
Since then, friends of mine who are also friends with R (because he's a friend of X still, for some reason), haven't been replying to me as much anymore and I'm super sensitive to noticing these things, at first I told myself it was nothing, but there's an obvious decrease in our interactions. I can't help but think that X actually said bad stuff about me, and R didn't want me to know, or maybe X convinced R that I was a terrible person or something. I still haven't read X's reply to me because I genuinely do not want to interact with them ever again, but for the past few days I've been so angry and hurt by my other friend's actions that I can't help but want to blame them, since this all started when I left them.
AITA for dropping a friend because their interests made me SEVERELY uncomfortable? I don't know what to do.
What are these acronyms?

This is long and Idk how to put this, but antis seem to have this strange... obsession with fictional characters they can pretend are kids. They put this idea of innocence on a pedestal because they need to "white knight" them. But if they try that with kids and teens they'll be treated as weird and told to stay away from them or the kids/teens will act against their expectations, making them realize they're REAL and have their own personalities and wants that won't align with theirs and break the antis' delusions. But with characters they can make them helpless, force them to be helpless and more importantly, keep them that way, making them need antis to protect them. Antis can be their heroes and get praise and admiration from them. And they can force them to always be in danger, always need them. That's why they couldn't care less about people, even kids, but are so gung-ho about characters. And why they're only focused on sexual things. People are sadly used to violence these days, and the religious idea of "sex being a sin" is also commonplace imo, and these characters are used physical danger so they can save themselves. But sex is a "bad thing" and something they can pretend the characters aren't used to even if they're high schoolers, so antis can swoop in, saving them from a "traumatic experience" earning the characters' worship for however long they want. Being an anti is an ego thing, it's not about being a good person or about morals, it's purely and inherently a self-centered idea created solely to allow the person to feel special. Since most antis are teens, Idk if they're scared because they realized how uncaring the world can be and took the idea that you have to make your own meaning too far in the wrong direction, or, as the cynic in me believes, they grew up on social media which made them develop main character syndrome and have a severe lack of empathy for anyone but themselves. If all this makes sense. Idk, I'm just spit-balling because I don't understand how being an anti is the hot new trend among the youth even though proshipping is the standard and how things have always worked, and the world didn't end, murderers and pedos didn't increase in numbers, because again, the proshipping stance is how it's always been but antis are suddenly trying to create a problem where there's never been one and keep trying to force reality to conform to their fantasies. I just don't understand how people could look at the world and then genuinely believe the world works the opposite of how it actually does, like flat earthers. And Idk why so many kids would fall for this nonsense and why antis are so commonplace nowadays. Imo, antis just...really need therapy cause it feels like they have this debilitating NEED to be a modern fairy tale hero you know?
I sometimes wonder if being an anti is a final, desperate bid for control after a lot of them realize that life isn't exactly something that can be controlled to the extent they want it to be.

Hey! A few fellow contestants told me to try this app out, and so far it's been pretty neat.
[ooc] being redrawn 😔]
Feel free to ask me questions!
Tumblr media
RULES!
Ships are alright, as long as you don't make it uncomfortable. Don't expect me to be all "mwa <33" either, Tree's an adult man. That's not how he'd roll.
If I don't answer an ask, don't spam my inbox with it. There's probably a reason. You can ask me if I've seen it, though, if you're looking for said reason.
Crossovers are fine in moderation.
No NSFW. Sure, you can make one suggestive joke in my inbox, but after that, don't pester about it, or this rule will change.
NO PROSHIPS OR COMSHIPS! I'm NOT a fan of that stuff.
I think this rule's a bit loose but understandable. Just don't be weird. It's easy.
I'll try to fit in with others' hcs sometimes depending on if you've interacted or not. Don't try to shove a hc at me, though.
I'll try to be as in-character as I can while still keeping things interesting. If I fail to reply in a way you want, just give constructive criticism and move on. Don't go "I HATE THIS BLOG NOW GRR HWHSJSJDJ" over a statement I might not have thought through.
DON'T abuse magic anon stuff, If your ask is WAY too bad or I don't know how I could ever do it, I'm not answering it.
The blog isn't totally serious, so keep everything done with that note in mind.
Rules will probably change. Keep an eye out for when they do!

you have proship dni in your bio, but you also don't intimidate me in the way a lot of people who say that do, so I'd like to ask: what does that mean to you? i don't call myself proship, but i worry that i am in the same way "I'm just not political 🤬" people are often just conservative. i think saying fiction doesn't affect reality at all is a bit silly, but i feel like it often turns into being against anything but the softest kinds of play between adults, and pedojacketing people for, like, being diaperfurs, or calling people abusers for liking cnc. I've been in proship spaces before, though, and i think people who are entrenched in that community tend to be aggressive and sometimes follow this weird policy of "nobody ever does anything bad if it's sex actually". i get very confused on when people mean "proship dni" as "dni if you believe fiction can portray bad things in a self indulgent way without it being morally reprehensible" or "dni if you are proship and see yourself as part of that space/ideology". i am always worried people will be morally disgusted by my dog girl intox yuri and stuff, and i don't want to put myself in front of those people and try to become acquainted if they would be.
I'm glad I don't intimidate. I feel like the problem with these labels is they are so euphemistic as to enable miscommunication and paranoia. I put it there not because I believe "fiction=reality" or something, or because I think kinks make you evil, but because... well I'm a victim of the internet and (most of) those people just trigger the fuck out of me lol. But also because I don't think it's ethical to post everything online without moderation and I don't like ideology that implies so. And also because saying this just stops me from getting weird anons or requests for things I'm uncomfortable drawing, because people assume I don't draw XYZ thing. Which usually I don't.

//long rambling
There is a vent in the last part (about pro ship:/+ wired shipping + block list) it's naturally negative so reading at your own risk.
So in the new Batman and Robin issue #7 Nika's sister making an appearance, got me thinking of other possibilities for sibling characters to come back.
Mostly I’m thinking about Respawn since he is Joshua Williamson's own character. And He made Respawn appeared in the last issue of Robin(2021), he also brought back Mara in that run too (just some appearance in the later issue).
And now Joshua Williamson is writing Batman and Robin, so naturally he can bring some characters back in this run. He had said in an interview that he might have figured out a way(try) to bring back Maya.
Tumblr media
Throwback to 2022 of this old wip/art I made, is about what I think the emo teens of Lazarus squad dynamic would look like.
I imagine Nika and Respaw are irritated/tolerate with each other but would stay for Damian because Nika is Damian's girlfriend and they want to stick together. Meanwhile, Damian likes to include his half-brother in some fun activities (Respawn is acting reluctant bc of his own issues but he actually likes to have friends and feel include).
I haven’t finished this art bc I was going to add more wips (with other characters like Rose and Hawke) to make it a post. I didn't finish this art back then bc I was afraid Talia fans would be mad at me for drawing Respawn.
Trust me, I hate that Talia gets associated with Deathstroke like this, but I think Respawn is a confused/mistreated teen character and Damian (bless his heart and soul) still wants to be his brother regarding the whole mess. I will explain/talk more about my thoughts on Respawn as a character and his situations once I finish these drawings and get ready to post them.
Writing/typing words is harder than drawing for me personally. Drawing is like channeling my energy into a picture and forming an atmosphere and hopefully people will understand what thoughts and feelings I was trying to convey. Writing is using more brain powers to choose the correct and cohesive words, so people would not misunderstand what I'm talking about. Especially when English is not my first language, and even so I normally don't talk(write) much in my mother tongue either…(I'm not a quick thinker, it took me a longer time to think things through, writing literally exhausted me physically and mentally more than drawing.)
It doesn't mean I don't enjoy writing, it's just not my first choice to convey thoughts… but considering I can't draw everything I have in my mind and it takes even longer time to finish any art, I just need to write down things first from now on. Tumblr is the only place I can think of that has this longer text feature blog post and I'm more familiar with this platform format. So I will still be here posting my fan content.
.
(↓Vent, if you want to avoid being block by me then read down below.)
I must say I will forever hate respawn x flatline as ship, cus I know who started this ship and their reasons behind it—Don’t let the new character develop naturally as the story goes, let’s put them in made-up weird situations first so I can prop up my own ship!😍 And get both of the new characters out of the way, since no one would defend them so I can fanon the hell out of them by making them look bad all around!🤞 (What if I stone you first hand🪨🪨💥)
And I will continue to dislike/against any shipping Damian's sibling to Nika. I simply don't like the unnecessary sibling conflict just for romance tropes! So go away boooo I hate you‼️ Not to mention the ignoring of different age range multi-ship hide behind poly… that's straight up proshipping I hate you even more!!👎
Also for people who said Nika should be crush on Damian's mother instead of him… I hate you twisted proshipper rotten smooth brain‼️‼️ She dating a boy her age and has mutual connections with him, why would she crush on her boyfriend's mother instead?? Just because Nika is a big fan of Talia??? So you telling me young ppl can't idolize adults normally without being labeled as romantic nowadays huh??( Not saying you can't crush on adults, but why crush on your boyfriend's mom? ) Your weird ass mind is showing with this ass hc be fr. Again, why would you imagine that? You just wanted to push a fake narrative of Nika being wired so you could have an excuse to make Talia and Damian dislike her (which is not true), but in fact is YOU are the weird one projecting your twist thoughts/hate onto Nika‼️💥🪨🪨
I will start to block ppl who are shipping/liking respawn x flatline (+proshipper) and STILL interact with me, read the room!! My art is not for you weirdos‼️Go away BOOOO💥 🪨🪨🪨💥💥
Can't believe I need to type this all out cuz some of you weirdos will still do these things and think is okay to interact with me and my post/showing in my notifications BOOO👎🪨🪨💥🪳🪳🪳🩴🩴🩴
(sorry for venting about random weirdos/Nika haters again, and thanks for reading.)

saw ur post about going incognito into spaces and stuff and i wanted to add my own thoughts about my experience of basically being stuck in places where proshippers r hated (not against wut ur saying! i definitely agree that theres no benefits and honestly its not that fun)
the fandom that im currently in is.. very toxic. someone got harassed to the point of having to delete their account bc they "supported" a proshipper (it was literally just them saying that u shouldnt harass this person just bc theyre proship-). a lot of my friends were very supportive of this person and agreed that ppl shouldnt be harassed over shit like that and many of them seem to have similar viewpoints as me (anti harassment and all that) but prefer to stay away from that stuff
the fandom is basically ran by antis. theres a small corner that some ppl have made where they talk about proship stuff freely (love those ppl so much theyre genuinely so nice) but overall its. not the best place to be if ur proship. which is interesting to me bc theres actually a shocking amount of proshippers that just... dont say anything. on my side blog ive had multiple ppl interact that i thought were anti (or at least just. not proship in some way) but would literally go and like all my posts about incest ships of the characters.
and sometimes i think about it and how theres actually a bunch of proshippers but we're so heavily harassed and silenced that we just- dont say anything. but the fandom is small and we cant exactly separate ourselves from it if we really like the show. and i feel especially bad for some of the bigger blogs that ppl love and adore bc i know wut would happen if somehow ppl found out and made some big post or wutever.
i dont pretend to be antiship but i dont outright say im proship unless i really trust that person
im currently trying to make my own lil space with some friends so at least if anything goes wrong i at least have a few ppl but its a bit scary to think about honestly-
Although it can be full of snot-nosed superiority complexes, I do recommend using the AO3 Subreddit in order to find likeminded people for your fandom. The very vast majority of the AO3 Subreddit is proship or at least proship neutral. Antis are generally eviscerated on sight whenever they try to poke their nose into it.
If you have any other fandoms that you are active in or have friends within, there's also no harm in introducing them to your small fandom.
From what I understand the Marvel fandom did kind of the same thing you're describing with the Starker shippers, but they flourished and supported each other anyway.
I know its easy for me to simply say 'do it anyway' as someone who generally could not give a fuck about anyone's opinion of me, but honestly. Do it anyway. Form your little collective. Support each other. Learn how to write and draw and make GIFs so you feed your own portion of the fandom. You physically do not need those people, it just unfortunately takes a bit of effort and means potentially a bit less content until you start really generating your own.
Fandom spaces do not start out from nothing. Promote the shit out of your fandom. Draw people in. Comb through the proship tags and send asks to blogs like mine asking other proshippers to check out the source material.
People in small fandoms are easy to bully because you're so enclosed into this circle of the exact same people. They happen to be the majority in the room and they're weaponising it.
Force them into a bigger room.

𝙰𝚞𝚝𝚞𝚖𝚗 𝙻𝚎𝚊𝚟𝚎𝚜 [𝙳𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚢𝚂𝚑𝚒𝚙𝚙𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙵𝚒𝚌]
lmao quick fic i wrote last night. ive been sleep deprived for a whole week sorry this is kinda bad
ao3 version (i need to find a better site than the shitty proship filled one but whatever)
If you were to ask the ninja what their favorite season was, most of them would say autumn. “Not too hot, not too cold” Nya would say, and Lloyd would agree. “It has Halloween” was Cole’s reason. Morro never gave a proper reason, but for him he liked the mood autumn came with. It was always oddly calm during the season, so he enjoyed being outside more during fall.
Although one thing he never liked about autumn was raking leaves.
Master Wu always had Morro raking the leaves as a chore when autumn came around, and apparently almost 50 years and a revival later Wu still had Morro raking leaves. Morro sighed as he moved the rake, flinching for a moment when he accidentally dragged it against rock.
“Wow, I didn’t think you could try any harder to make my ears bleed.”
Morro paused for a moment, looking up at the view tiredly. He turned around, staring at his boyfriend with a grimace on his face. Kai was leaning against his own rake, visibly as uninterested as he could be.
“I think we both know I can do worse.” Morro said to him, turning back to the small pile of leaves in front of him. Kai sighed and rolled his eyes, continuing to tediously rake the leaves near him.
“Can’t you just, I dunno, use your powers to pile them all up?” Kai complained. “Or we could use spinjitzu, just anything to get this over with.” Morro sighed at the whines. “You know how Master Wu feels about us using our powers for chores.” He said, making Kai groan. “Don’t remind me.”
After a couple minutes Kai yawned, looking over at Morro. “Wanna grab a coffee after this?” He asked, setting his hands on the top of the rake and then resting his head. Morro glanced at him, raising an eyebrow.
“We have coffee here.” He simply stated, making Kai roll his eyes again. “It’s not the same, I wanna grab an unreasonably priced seasonal coffee, it’s like, tradition or something like that.” Morro just gave him a strange look. “You want… to waste money?” He asked, completely pausing his work.
Kai smiled, holding back a chuckle. It had been a few years since Morro was revived, and despite having learned a lot of modern day culture he still clearly had a ways to go.
“Calm down, I wasn’t being serious,” Kai replied. Then his face fell a bit. “At least I hope I wasn’t. They’re not gonna charge too much for seasonal coffee, right?” Kai set a hand on his chin, pretending to think. Morro just shook his head, going back to work. “Just hurry up and rake the leaves, I wanna finish that show Jay told me about.” Kai pouted.
“So no coffee?” Kai swiftly moved out of the way when Morro suddenly threw a rock at him, the fire ninja letting out a loud laugh. “I’m joking!”
Despite the cool winds blowing up on the mountains Morro had to shrug off his jacket at some point, promptly ignoring Kai with a blush on his face when the man whistled. Morro was almost done with his side of the grass while Kai wasn’t nearly as finished, and Morro chalked it up to the man goofing around most of the time rather than taking the chore seriously.
Morro was deep into thought when Kai suddenly startled him, placing a hand on his shoulder. The green-haired boy glared at him, immediately noting the smirk on the brunette’s face.
“Hey, we never jumped in leaves together before, have we?” Kai asked, and Morro cocked an eyebrow in confusion. Kai just smiled at him wider, and suddenly went to a nearby pile of leaves that Morro had raked not too long ago. “Bring another pile into this one, trust me on this.”
Despite Morro’s gut instinct to immediately shove Kai away and in fact not trust him, he instead just sighed, and listened. Soon enough there was a large pile of leaves in front of the two, and Morro set his hands on his hips.
“There, are you happy?” Morro looked down at the pile, muttering about how it would take longer to put the leaves in bags now. Kai just handed Morro his own rake, taking a few steps back. Morro, slightly concerned with Kai’s actions, also took a few steps back, and before he realized it Kai sprinted back towards the pile, jumping straight into it.
Morro gasped as leaves flew everywhere, and he glared at Kai, who was giggling deep into the now slightly smaller pile. “Are you trying to give me more work?!” The man scolded, dropping both rakes out of spite. “I’m not raking those again! That’s your job now.” Morro finished by crossing his arms, and Kai chuckled.
“Yeah yeah, I’m a terrible boyfriend and I give you such a headache” Kai mocked, making Morro scoff. “You do, for the record.” It was a lie, but Morro would sooner jump off the mountain than admit it. Kai just shifted his hand a bit and patted the leaves next to him.
“Jump in! It’s comfy.” Morro shook his head. “Kai, I’m almost certain there are bugs in there, I’m not doing that.” Kai smirked.
“What, is the big bad Morro scared of a couple bugs?” Morro glared at him before walking right up to him, setting a foot on the man’s stomach. Kai’s eyes widened, looking up at Morro concerned. “Uh, babe? What are you-“ but before Kai could finish he let out a loud huff as Morro shoved him deeper into the pile, his face getting mostly covered by the leaves now.
Morro stood proudly with a smirk as Kai spat out the leaves, shaking his head trying to remove as many as possible. “You dick! What the hell was that for?!” Kai yelled, wiping dirt off his face. Morro simply placed a hand over his chest, a fake evil expression on his face.
“Oh, I thought I was the big bad Morro, are you surprised that I’m being bad?” He mocked, his grin widening when Kai glared at him. “We should’ve left you in the departed realm.” He said, sitting up. Morro rolled his eyes, and held his hand out for Kai to grab. “We have to finish raking these leaves, come on.”
Kai looked down at Morro’s hand, then back up at him. Morro’s eyes widened, but before he could pull away Kai quickly grabbed his arm with both hands, yanking the man down into the pile of leaves next to him. Morro’s vision was a blur for a moment, and for a second everything was soft around him, before the itching feeling of leaves was on his skin, and he immediately sat up, eyes wide.
Morro could hear Kai laugh loudly next to him, and Morro could only imagine his boyfriend was doubling over. The former ghost quickly began wiping the leaves off his arms, shifting uncomfortably on the ground.
“I’m never helping you up ever again.” Morro threatened, and all he got was more leaves falling over his head. Morro paused, turning to face Kai with an unamused expression. Kai was giggling, one of his arms almost completely hidden from the way he leaned into the pile of leaves. Morro almost felt frozen as he stared at Kai, analyzing his face. The scar over his eye, the bandage next to his eyebrow, the small wrinkles Kai so desperately denies having. Morro never forgot just how beautiful Kai was, but whenever he took moments to just look at him, he was absolutely floored.
And Kai could only do the same. Kai stared at the markings left by Morro’s years spent as a ghost, left by the preeminent when she dragged Morro into the sea with her. He analyzed every scar, noting the ones he had as a child and the ones he gained during his time as a ninja. Morro hated his face, he was ashamed of the markings, to him they were a reminder of the foolish boy he once was.
To Kai they were like scars, reminders that Morro had survived. Despite all that he went through, he survived, and he changed for the better. Kai was proud of Morro, and he would always remind Morro of that.
Kai leaned over and rested a hand on Morro’s cheek, and almost instantly the man leaned into it, setting his own hand over Kai’s. They laid in silence for a few minutes, simply enjoying each other’s company.
Soon enough Morro realized they both needed to get up, and sighed softly. “C’mon, let’s just finish up here and we can grab that coffee you wanted.” Morro spoke up, sitting up a bit. Kai smirked. “Oh? Had a change of heart?” Morro shook his head, smiling softly. “You have a way of changing people’s minds.”
Kai laughed softly, and before Morro could get up Kai suddenly pulled him forward, making him yelp. Morro fell on top of Kai, and the ninja wrapped his arms around him. Morro looked down at Kai, a blush clear as day on his face. Kai looked back up at him, smiling, before leaning in to steal a kiss.
Morro practically melted in Kai’s arms, moving his hands to cup the brunette’s face. They refused to pull away until they couldn’t hold their breaths anymore, and even then they couldn’t stay separated for long, almost immediately leaning back in.
Eventually Morro pulled away, just a bit. Their breathing was heavy, unable to break eye contact. Kai’s fingers scratched Morro’s head lightly, his hand having found its way into his hair.
Morro glanced down at Kai’s lips, momentarily distracted from his thoughts. “We need to get up.. these leaves are itchy.” He complained softly, and Kai chuckled. “In a minute,” he responded. “Just stay here another minute..” Morro didn’t complain as he leaned back in, his lips connecting with Kai’s.
If Wu asked why they took so long raking leaves he could just blame Kai for distracting him.

you know, i think you're pretty based honestly
every so often i see posts made by proshippers (not that often cause i dont purposefully go out and look at ship discourse) and find myself agreeing with a lot of it. seems to just be anti harassment and anti censorship at its core (unlike what ive been told) which i can absolutely get behind. i think maybe i should look into that
I’m not gonna tell you what you should and shouldn’t identify as, but I will say that the proship community has been extremely helpful to me. Basically, I used to identify as an anti, condemning people for making “icky” things I didn’t like. But I eventually caught myself justifying things that just weren’t right- I convinced myself that genuine threats of violence against people who really were just having fun was okay. And I stepped back and realized that wait, that actually isn’t a cool thing to be okay with. I should actively vouch against it, actually.
Skipping over the research period, asking active proshippers what the label meant to them and realizing that my definition was incorrect and stuff like that, I started using the proship label and became active in the community. And I realized that it was really the community that I’d rather be in- one that was based around kindness and freedom to do as you please instead of hate and strict rules.
I definitely recommend that people do look deeper into what being a proshipper actually means, rather than just parroting the idea that they’ve been spreading for years on end. Just in general, I think it’s very important to consistently ask yourself why you believe in certain stances- why you think this is good and this is bad, this is moral and this is not. Because even though the answer may seem incredibly obvious, blindly supporting and blindly being against something, without any real idea of why you support or against said something, is a very unwise thing to do and is one of the ways that people get pulled into these (oftentimes bigoted) echo chambers of concepts without realizing it.
I think it’s good that you’re rethinking some of the things you’ve been told! I feel that too many people nowadays, online and just in general, are very stubborn and afraid of change. Nobody really ever likes to be wrong about something. But everyone is gonna be wrong about something eventually. What matters is how we react to our being wrong- whether we accept it with grace and try to change from it, or double down and deny everything.
I’d much rather be with the people who own it and change accordingly, yknow?

☆ Viburnums - Chapter 1: The Fucking Sun ☆
Thank the heavens for holiday leave. You weren't sure how much longer you could stand the bitter cold that seeped through the barracks windows back on base. At least here at home, even if it wasn't much better insulation wise, you weren't tossing and turning all night from the chill. Not that you could really move much to begin with, sandwiched between Johnny and Simon like this. Although, come to think of it, you're all pretty pent up, so maybe it isn't so bad after all. Granted you can balance getting your last minute Christmas shopping done with getting your back blown out, of course.

a/n: Hello!! This will have a few more chapters, so some of the tags will be relevant within the next chapter. Will hopefully have that out in a couple days. Enjoy! o7 [ao3 link] [Masterlist] [Chapter 2 (TBA)]
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simon awakes first. Much to his surprise, actually. Typically you're the one that rises at dawn with him following close behind.  He doesn't blame you, though. The trip home, what with all the holiday crowding in the airport and the traffic after, took a lot out of all of you. By some miracle you'd managed to hold it together enough for the three of you combined, but he could tell it'd left you exhausted. He rolls over, inching himself closer as he drapes his tattooed arm over your midsection, brushing against Johnny's hand that rests down by your hip. Briefly, he watches to see if the other man will stir. Then his gaze flickers to you. Neither of you even shift. Wrecked clearly. Suddenly finding himself a little more content with the idea of simply going back to sleep, he sidles up against you proper, nuzzling between your shoulder blades and using your warmth to lull him into drifting off again.
Later in the morning it's you that first withdraws from slumber, albeit slowly. You suck in a breath and stretch out your legs, yet in doing so you come to realize that someone's thigh is wedged firmly between them. You crack an eye open to investigate, only to wince when met with the sliver of hazy sunlight that's peeking in through the space between the curtains. You relent and decide to put off the task for later. It's not like you've ever minded being tangled up with the boys, anyway. Whoever's thigh it is can stay there. Isn't half bad in that spot, actually. ... Jesus, how long has it been since the three of you had simply had some time together that you're genuinely starting to get worked up just from this? Wracking your memories only turns up mission after mission with training filling in the gaps apart from a fleeting tryst in the locker room. One that'd gotten cut short when Price nearly walked in on the three of you, calling through the door that he needed Johnny for a moment. Speaking of the Scotsman, you can feel him move beside you. Probably startled awake by the way you jerked when the morning rays attacked you seconds prior. His fingers curl in, hand lazily feeling over your waist as he wakes up, trying to regain sense of his surroundings and figure out why it's so fuckin' hot in here. You tentatively open your eyes again just as he's turning away from you a bit, body twisting sideways enough to make his meaty thigh press harder against your clothed sex. Maybe it'd be more bearable if you'd had either him or Simon in you at all in the last month.  When you make a small noise at the feeling, Johnny finally seems to remember you exist. Blinking the last ties of sleep away, he turns his attention over to you. "We're outta milk," he mutters.
What??  "Just remembered." You squint at him, an emotion akin to befuddlement written across your face. Of course, kudos to the man for having his priorities straight. You did need milk and.. Well, the whole lot of other standard groceries to be honest. Such is life coming back home every odd couple of months or so. Still, a, 'Good mornin' lovie,' would've been nice to hear first.
"Simonnn," you groan, quickly and haphazardly disentangling yourself from Johnny to roll over and face your other partner instead. "Your boyfriend is being fucking weird again." All the sudden flopping around is enough to rather abruptly rouse him, earning a gruff sound in response. He rubs at his eyes, trying his hardest to listen to whatever the hell it is you're saying so soon after waking him up. Laying damn near completely on top of him while doing so, at that. Truth be told he missed most of it, but he did make out something about Johnny being his boyfriend. At least he's pretty sure he did. "Yeah?" he hesitantly agrees, voice still thick with grogginess. "Was yours, too, last I checked?" Johnny isn't paying you two much mind. He has other plans and fully intends to see them through, so while you're preoccupied whining to Simon he slips out of bed unnoticed. Only when he's leaning over, fully dressed and ready to brace the snowy weather outside, planting goodbye kisses atop each of your heads do you pick up on the absence of his warmth beside you. You sit up, almost trying to chase him for another kiss, equally surprised and curious about his unanticipated departure. "Goin' to the market," he answers before you can even ask. "Ye ken I won't be long." As you two watch him exit the flat, Simon pulls you back down into his arms. He's not particularly excited about seeing Johnny go either, but he knows he'll be back within the hour and certainly won't object to having you to himself until then.

What is this "proshippers" stuff that I have been seeing all over the internet? Is it a bad thing?
Good morning, anon!
I just gotta say before I start, your timing 😭 I absolutely love this question because you're making me research and I have a lot to say, but I just finished the gym so please picture a trembling T-Rex over the keyboard as you read this.
Short answer: Proshippers are people who believe in 'ship and let ship', even if the ships can be viewed as problematic, but not all proshippers ship problematic ships. It is not a bad thing, if you take into account the whole picture and not just specific problematic examples. BUT over time, people have come to use proshipper as 'problematic shipper' so it depends who you're talking to?
I'm not an authority on what is bad or good, the best I can do is give you the different points, and let you decide how you feel about the topic.
WHEW, THIS GOT LONG AND PERSONAL SO BUCKLE UP!!
This Reddit thread sums up what proshipping is really nicely, and I'm just going to add onto what's already said there.
CONTEXT
As an older fandom member myself, and back in my day, proshipping and a lot of the labels you see floating around wasn't a thing. At least, not to me. Back when I was active on Tumblr over a decade ago, everyone just kinda stuck in their own corners, doing their own thing with their niche group of people.
Then, as time shifted, the fandom became more popularized and acceptable, you have more people coming in to engage with the culture. As I mentioned in my ACOTAR fandom analysis (which can be applied more broadly), fandom really started as the weirdos being weird together on our weird little site (and I say this with the utmost affection). With more people participating, you have more opinions coming into the mix with more discussions happening. Not to mention, how the pandemic brought fandom to the eyes of the general public making it a lot easier for them to shame and comment on something they don't necessarily understand.
One thing that you'll see me repeating on this blog is that art is a form of expression, exploration and therapy. Art can be problematic and it can be harmful to some people, but the beauty of fandom is that tags are a form of etiquette to help cater your experience and I do see most people trying to do it. You are in control when you are in fandom. You do not need to engage with anything you do not like, but the responsibility is on you (not others) to manage your experience.
TWO WAYS TO LOOK AT PROSHIPPING
As mentioned above, at its core, to be pro-ship means that you are all for people shipping whatever the hell they want because it's none of your business. By that definition, you could look at it more as a movement or a belief system, rather than a 'label'. It's a belief of freedom of expression and being anti-censorship rather than focusing on problematic ships.
As of late, and with my return to Tumblr after an eternity (it feels like a whole new place, btw), proshipping has morphed into meaning 'problematic-shipping'. I see people tagging their blogs as 'proshippers DNI' and then list that they are anti-incest or underage content. This is a totally fair request, but it lumps the idea that you have the right to ship anything as you're specifically pro those two things or anything that is specifically problematic.
THE PROBLEM WITH 'PROSHIPPING' READ AS 'PROBLEMATIC SHIPPING'
If you're someone who stands by the second definition and that proshippers are all, by default, people who stand by problematic ships, you may risk falling into the trap of extremes, generalizations and censorship in a way that I find is harmful to people who use fandom as an escape.
Where do you draw the line about what's problematic? Some people say that age gaps are problematic, but as an adult, I think that a 30 year old dating a 50 year old is not inherently problematic. At 30, your brain chemistry changes and you are mature enough to make these kinds of decisions. There is a certain age where the ages start to blur and you don't really feel the difference between generations. Then, there's a hundred other questions you can ask. Did those two people start dating now at those big old ages? Or did it start younger? What was the context?
Speaking of context, there are a lot of people who will see a tag or a ship and immediately deem that work as problematic. It's important to remember that there is so much more at play than just the text itself, and you can't always make a direct moral correlation between the art, artist and perceiver. All three of these present a different perspective. The art is the finished product, the artist comes with their own set of experiences and so does the perceiver.
SOME EXAMPLES & DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES
(tw: abuse)
Two more things I'd like to add.
I haven't yet read the Death of the Author which a theory that says you shouldn't take into account the author when you are reading a text, but rather how the text or the art makes you feel, but fandom is so tightly knitted with creators that this is a tricky approach to take. With larger more traditionally published works, there's a separation between you, the perceiver, and the author. It's easier and better for discourse to disassociate so you can discuss with your peers what you got from the text.
In fandom, you are among peers and you are already in the community. I am not absolving any problematic ships and I do have personal hard boundaries that I enforce (and do not engage with), but I will say that there are things I can empathize with. There's a reason in fandom that we always so 'don't like, don't read', or why we don't leave critical reviews or why some people think it's bad form to censor/police others.
In fandom, you are creating for you or directly for your community.
Now, I'm gonna get into more personal examples.
As someone who has been neglected, abused (every version under the sun -- physically, sexually, verbally, emotionally, financially, etc.) and other stuff I don't want to get into, writing is my outlet. I don't personally claim the label of victim for personal reasons, but for all intents and purposes, I am one. I am someone who has spent most of my life alone, with my emotions (alone) and my thoughts (alone) because any form of vulnerability or imperfection was punished. When I look back at my life, sometimes I wonder why it feels like I lived the Murphy's Law of abuse.
That said, I only had writing. From the age of 11 to my big old age now, it's the number one way for me to work through emotions without ever having to put my name on it. I didn't have to be the victim and if I needed it, I could write myself a hero. It's a question of reliving experiences or exploring themes in a setting that I can control.
What if my character is assaulted? But what if someone came to comfort them afterwards? Made them feel seen and didn't diminish that pain? Or what if they did take away that pain so the main character doesn't have to carry it for as long as I did? What if I write about power dynamics because having someone you can inherently trust with everything brings me peace?
What if the violence I portray is my way of feeling in control of a situation like that? What if I support women being violent in my work because they deserve to stand up for themselves with the same force of the violence committed against them?
What if I write about ugly things because I see myself as an ugly thing and I want to celebrate that? I love villains. In the eyes of my abusers, I am the villain. (Have you ever been under the thumb of a narcissist? Many narcissists? They are always right, and you are always wrong.) Did you know that as a woman of colour (depending where you are), the more your stand up for yourself and the more you maintain firm boundaries, the more you're treated as a bitch? Or some kind of poison to the world around you? Some men will go out of their way to make you submit, even professionally.
All that said, I do not wish any bad thing on anyone and when I'm done writing my silly little work, the only reason I share it is because I hope someone sees a part of them in this and feels a little less alone. When I finish writing, I log off and live my life bringing as much positivity as I can to every person I interact with because I don't know what they are going through.
I never shared my writing before this year, and let me tell you, the number of people who have told me that they cried, they felt sadness and felt seen by the way trauma was depicted in some of my work -- THIS is why I share. The world is so big, and everyone is so focused on fitting in, or hell, just surviving, and it's easy to feel alone.
So, I can't imagine taking that label of anti-proshipping, or bringing that whole energy of trying to silence and police people when some of the 'problematic' content you see might actually help someone work through some things in a way that works for them without harming real people. (These are works of fiction, and art.)
Would you prefer wiping the entire board because there are some people, yes, who glorify problematic things, but there are more people than you know who see themselves in seemingly 'problematic things' and it heals a little part of them? I'm not saying everyone has a 'valid' excuse, but who am I to play judge and jury? That's not a task I'm personally willing to undertake in a fictional sandbox. I block and move on, that's it.
If, after everything I've said, I do fall under proshipper, please keep in mind that I am fighting for the people who find community, the people who are healing and the people who just want to get away from the performance that is our daily lives.

guys i dont mean to hate or anything i really don't, so i'm sorry if it sounds like that. i'm just a little confused, though. i really just wanna see proshipping from your perspective since i'm very confused and i wanna see it from all perspective. also i'm really sorry if this seems rude i swear i'm not trying to be i just wanna understand 😭
You’re good, no worries!
Proship is being decent to your fellow fans. It’s recognizing we all have different tastes, and understanding that those different tastes don’t mean one of us is automatically wrong. There’s no “right or wrong” when it’s a matter of opinion because opinions are not facts.
Here’s an analogy I hope will help.
Think of fandom like a party. Parties are fun. You come here to have fun.
Now think of fiction as the food you find at the party (since we consume it). To really narrow it down, let’s use pizza.
Tumblr media
There’s the classic cheese pizza (genfic), pepperoni (fluff), olives (angst), olives and pepperoni combo (hurt/comfort), sausage (smut), and pineapple (darkfic) to name just a few. They’re all side by side at the table, and each one is in its own big pizza box labeled with large letters so you know exactly what you’re getting from which box. CHEESE sits on one end of the row, PINEAPPLE sits on the other. None of them are touching each other.
Let’s say you really like cheese. You’ll eat all the cheese pizza you can get your hands on, but you hate pineapple. You think it’s the most disgusting thing in the world, and you wouldn’t eat it for $1mil. In fact, you wouldn’t eat it if it was the very last morsel of food on earth and you were starving.
You arrive at the party and make your way to the table, ready to chow down on some quality food. But on your way to your beloved cheese pizza, your precious, you pass by the icky and dreaded pineapple pizza.
What would you do?
A) ignore the pineapple pizza, take your cheese pizza and walk away from the table
B) warn other people not to take the pineapple pizza because “it’s disgusting!”
C) make a scene about it, screaming “OH EWWWWWWWWWW WHO PUT THAT GARBAGE ON THE TABLE WHERE THE FOOD IS?? YUCK! GROSS! THERE ARE CHILDREN HERE!”
If you answered A, that’s what being proship is. Proship isn’t blindly approving of everything at the table just because it’s there for you to consume—it’s supporting the right for everything to be there even if it doesn’t do anything for you. (ex. I like incest, but I don’t care for smut, and if I happen to see that my bestie is reading smut while sitting right next to me, then I hope she’s enjoying herself!) It’s labeling the pizzas so people can take what they want and avoid what they don’t want. You understand that there are other people at the party, and not everything there is exclusively for you, and that’s okay. That’s great, actually, because you can eat cheese with party friends who also like cheese, and for those friends who don’t like cheese, guess what? More cheese for you! No one feels bad, it’s a win-win all around! Party on!
If you answered B, that’s less okay. While your intentions may be good, it’s ultimately not your call whether others will find the pineapple as disgusting as you do. While you could be saving someone from a potentially horrible and traumatizing experience, you could also be depriving them of a really good one. It’s up to them to decide whether they like it or not, not you. Things are a little awkward, but still salvageable.
If you answered C, you’re an anti. You make the party a lot less fun with your outburst, and now people are afraid to go near the pizza for fear of taking the “wrong” one (even though there’s no wrong answer—never has been and never will be). You think everyone who likes, much less actively chooses to consume, pineapple pizza has something deeply wrong with their brain, and if you find out a disgusting pineapple-lover so much as breathes in your direction, you’re going to personally kick them out yourself because people who eat the literal garbage that is pineapple belong outside like the disease-ridden RATS they are, not inside at parties where they could poison everyone—especially the young, vulnerable, impressionable CHILDREN—with their RABIES. And while you’re busy moralizing over pizza, making it your business what other people put in their mouths, the other party-goers are feeling bad about themselves for the crime of... simply having a different preference to yours. They can’t help what they like or dislike any more than you can. They’re not rats, and they definitely don’t have rabies. They’re not going to infect you or the (literal or figurative) children with rabies they don’t have. Some of the pineapple pizza lovers might be children, are they condemned too? Or have they simply become “lost” and you’ll “fix” them to like the “right” things? Oh, but it doesn’t stop there. Once the pineapple is gone, then sausage is the Bad Pizza, and then olives (oli&pep combo is on thin ice), until there’s only one or two “safe” options to pick from, and if the party-goers don’t like them, they’re just as bad as the pineapple-lovers, and the sausage-lovers, and the olive-lovers. Filthy vermin, all of them! Banished! Begone! And when that party has died down, you’ll find another party to go to and do it all over again! Sounds exhausting, and I don’t recommend.
...this kind of got away from me but I hope it gives you something to chew on! Let me know if I need to be clearer! I tried to make this as short as possible!

yes I know part of proship culture is calling out the harm that antis are doing and whatnot but my god at this point I should just scroll through the anti tags instead because guess what guys screenshotting someone saying that I’m a worthless piece of scum and calling that person a moron idiot doesn’t really make me feel much better because at the end of the day that person still thinks I’m a worthless piece of scum and I only know that because YOU told me
I swear I’m gonna make a side that’s solely for spreading proship positivity and joy like we need it so bad. We need more like @/proshipblackoutpoetry and @/proship-culture-is please I’m begging you guys. Our entire ordeal is not caring and having fun and the proship tags just aren’t very fun sometimes for some reason
I get the point you're trying to make, but this is an extremely funny ask to send to an account that's based almost solely on the controversy. With that being said, since the proship stance was spawned of ship wars, and while it would be nice to have a chill place, it's not that surprising that the tags are mostly full of posts talking about the drama. And frankly, I wouldn't be shocked if anti tags are extremely similar.
That unfortunately tends to be the case with drama-centric stances.

Let’s have a…serious talk.
It has come to my attention that some of the people interacting with this blog are Proshipers…Look I know I never explicitly mentioned that I don’t want ANYONE like that interacting with my blog. And that’s my mistake, I’m still new to this whole thing. So I’ll be better about this in the future. However since I have your attention, I might as well tell you who I DON’T want interacting with me or my account. Obviously Proshipers, don’t interact with me. I don’t do NSFW, I will never do NSFW, so even if it’s not “SEXUAL.” Anyone asking me things that come remotely close to that I will BLOCK you. I don’t feel comfortable being shipped with OCs, or people of that nature. Look I don’t mind Pacifica for the main reason that the owner of her account is literally me— like I decide what she says and what she doesn’t— (and it gives me an excuse to be blunt.) but when you try to force OCs on me or ask me…weird asks I just- I feel bad saying this to everyone, because it’s not everyone. But I wanted to make it clear where I stood. For everyone who’s not in trouble (lol) thank you for listening to me ramble about something that’s been bothering me lately.
