I am so unbelievably pissed off. FUCK HOAs
Oh, my trash/recycling bin can't be visible except on pickup day? Ok whatever fine I hate you but I can deal with this
Weekly inspections?????? FU FU FU FU FU
SECOND NOTICE ALSO WE'RE CHARGING YOU MONEY TO SEND YOU CERTIFIED MAIL OF THIS TOTALLY LEGIT TOTALLY SECOND NOTICE OF WHAT IS ACTUALLY A VIOLATION cue me: checks notes. Hmm. My recycling bin was. on the curb. on recycling pickup day. You know. The day it has to be out. The day it is motherfucking ALLOWED TO BE FUCKING OUT AND VISIBLE.
so. 1) not a violation
I have sent them the trash AND recycling pickup schedules, which are DIFFERENT, btw
I have disputed the fact of the violation
I have disputed the linking of this "violation" to a previous violation MONTHS AGO--their "first notice" in this case was a "Courtesy Notice" LITERALLY 5 MONTHS AGO and they've done so many inspections since then and my bin CLEARLY WASN'T OUT IN THOSE INTERVENING MONTHS so WTMFH
So I am posting like a crazy person here instead of sending the absolutely deranged email I almost sent (I did send a slightly less deranged version with the disputes, and requesting a hearing)
OMG. It has been. Less than one hour since I learned this fun fun news. My bin was out YESTERDAY, y'all. YESTERDAY. I am going to blow a gasket
#it's a relatively privileged problem to have (omg i have a home truly i am grateful) but it's still a goddamned problem and i'm allowed#to fucking complain about it#in case it needs to be said#*rolling my eyes*#i advocate for free/actually affordable housing for everyone who needs it because we ALL deserve a safe secure stable home#whatever type of home that may be#it is absolutely goddamned ridiculous that megacorps can buy all the housing#rent it out at extortionate rates and evict people willy nilly#and we're talking about a “housing crisis” and not a “STOP LETTING CORPORATIONS AND BILLIONAIRES HOARD ALL THE HOUSING” crisis#goddamn.#ha elect me president (ahaha don't do this i am not a good public speaker) and I'll push congress to pass some really neat legislation#hey be more direct: elect me to congress (ahaha don't do this) and i'll WRITE some goddamn nifty legislation and yell about it as long and#as loud as i can until people start to just fucking say yes to make me shut the fuck up#(i know that's not how it works. again. don't actually elect me to a government position)#exemplia gratis:#No individual person shall own more than 6 homes UNLESS they pay a Housing Market Shrinkage Fee for removing viable housing from the market#why 6 and not 2? 2 is a lot! it's excessive! but having A vacation home shouldn't be a crime. Having 5 vacation homes is ridiculous and#awful and whatever but it's not likely to be the source of all our greatest “housing shortage” problems. no. I'm aiming for the absolutely#monstrously greedy and egregious motherfuckers who---ok#hang on. how many homes does the average min and max homeowner own? I would like to see data on that. but anyway#the next part of the legislation:#Homes owned >6 shall be charged X% Housing Market Shrinkage Fee UNLESS they are rented for affordable (15% or less than renter net income)#housing and are actively occupied by said renters. Rented out and charging more than 15% of renter's net? still gotta pay up.#EMPTY housing >6 shall be subject to an additional Y% Housing Market Shrinkage Fee (tax? should I call it a tax?) which increases with ever#month that the housing goes unoccupied. no one living in it? sell it rent it or pay the fuck up. and still pay the fuck up if you rent it#for way too goddamn much money#but like. less. we only REALLY hate you if you sit on empty houses that you don't even let anyone use#ok that's individuals. now onto BUSINESSES#ok so immediately it gets a little complicated cuz like presumably there's rental management businesses that don't own the rental propertie#that they manage BUT there are also companies that just outright own a shitfuckton of housing and THIS is the truly egregious monstrous sid

Let it be known that Steve has zero problem with Eddie. Like, negative problems. So little problem that it kinda turns itself inside out and becomes a DIFFERENT problem. But, not like, a problem problem. Just a teeny tiny little maybe issue. Maybe. Whatever.
Anyways, Eddie's a hugger.
And, like Steve said, it's not a problem. Except that it kind of is.
"Oh, dude," Robin had said when he'd told her as much, and stared at him with this incredibly pained look in her eyes. "You have so many issues." And after that, he gets daily a Robin hug.
Which is great. But doesn't solve his not-problem with Eddie hugs.
Well, in a way, it does. Regular Robin hugs means that Steve isn't freezing up and freaking out when he gets an Eddie hug. Steve's really glad for that, because he'd been terrified that he was going to make Eddie think that Steve hated the Eddie hugs.
Which would be awful, because Steve kinda sorta maybe absolutely would-die-for the Eddie hugs. Steve loves the Eddie hugs, okay? Eddie should be hugging Steve all the time, actually.
He does, too. It's kind of awesome. Steve waives a late fee? Eddie's clamoring over the counter to hug him. Steve picks up the nerds from their nerd jail game? Eddie's half way through his window, hugging Steve's head. Steve brought pizza to movie night? Eddie gets his arms around Steve's waist and sighs happily into Steve's neck. It's pretty great.
It's the best thing ever.
And Steve knows logically that he's not special. Eddie's usually draped over someone for extended periods of time until he get's swatted off. He hugs everyone. Steve's not special. He does have to tell himself that a lot.
"Oh, dingus," Robin had sighed when he'd told her as much. Her look this time was a lot less pained and more exasperated. "So many issues." And he was rewarded with two Robin hugs that day.
Anyways, Steve has to remind himself all the time that he's not special. So it comes as a little tiny sorta maybe surprise when Eddie one night wraps Steve in his arms, sighing all happy and contented like he usually does, and says, "You're my favorite, Harrington. You give the best hugs."
And then he presses a kiss to Steve's cheek.
And a lot of things go through Steve's head in that moment. He doesn't have a clue what any of it is, but it all scrolls by like the Star Wars intro on too much sugar and too hard to read. Still, he arrives at the correct conclusion anyways.
"Oh," Steve says, before Eddie's lips have really left his cheek. "I'm in love with you."
Eddie reels back, his hands still on Steve's shoulders, big brown eyes now bigger than ever. Steve watches as his face goes pink, and pinker, and then bright red.
"Huh?!" It's a really ugly sound that Eddie makes, and Steve bites his lip to keep from laughing. It's cute.
"Yeah," Steve says. "I'm in love with you."
"... What?!"

OH MY FREAKKK?!
Little baby Poe has my heart :(
Would you consider writing something for little Poe and little reader meeting when they're young? Maybe in kindergarten, reader is more 'rough-and-tumble' than Poe is, getting dirty, climbing up trees, not bothered by pain. A shy Poe really wants to make friends with her but one day at kindergarten, he finds that her family have moved, which upsets him, but the two meet again when they're fighting in the rebellion?
Anyways, I fucking adored baby Poe, I love absolutely everything you write, have a great rest of your day! Huzzah!
Hey noonie! First of all thank you so much for your support! Your kind words mean a lot to me! I kinda went crazy with your request and ended up writing an almost 4k thing, but baby Poe just kept speaking to me! This AU has a hold on my brain and doesn’t let it rest. Had lots of fun making this request!
Thanks again and Happy Poevember!

--Warnings: none, just fluffy baby Poe!--
A/N: English is not my first language, so I apologize if there’s any mistakes.

In the quiet corner of a little kindergarten on Yavin IV, five-year-old Poe Dameron sits cross-legged, watching as you—the new kid—scale the tallest tree on the playground. Your elbows are scraped, and your knees are dirt-streaked, but you don’t seem to mind at all. You’re perched up high, legs swinging as if you’ve done this a hundred times. With bright eyes and a hint of hesitation, Poe clutches his favourite stuffed tooka doll, Captain Fluff, close to his chest, feeling something between awe and curiosity.
The droid teacher nudges him gently. “You need to make friends Poe, your father gave us instructions for us to encourage you into socialising with the other younglings, why don’t you go say hi?”
Poe glances down, feeling a bit of nervousness, he is not usually the type of kid that’s quiet, or shy around people, he’s always active at home, bouncing eagerly from place to place talking the ears off all the adults he has around, but ever since his mom had been going on missions, he had been having trouble adjusting and talking especially to the other kids that didn’t get him, being enclosed in his fantasy world on fighting for the cause, and just depending on his favourite buddy, Fluff.
Taking a deep breath, he adjusts his grip on Captain Fluff and walks toward the tree. Shyly, he looks up at you, your hair wild and your hands smudged with playground dirt, as you look down with a big, welcoming grin.
“Hi,” he says, his voice small but warm.
“Hi!” you call down, eyes twinkling. You don’t seem surprised to see him, as if you were expecting him to join you, after all you’ve noticed he’d been staring at you for a while now. “You wanna come up?”
Poe’s eyes widen, his cheeks flushing pink as he fumbles for words, his little foot nervously tapping the ground, shifting back and forth. “Oh, I… um, not really I was just… wondering what you were doing up there.” He points up, his head tilted back to see you better. “Doesn’t it, you know… feel kinda high?”
You laugh, swinging your legs as you peer down at him. “It’s awesome up here! You can see everything. Like the ships outside the fence,” you say, pointing excitedly to the sky. “When they fly by, it’s like you’re right there with them! Makes me feel like I’m up close to them.”
Poe’s eyes light up, his fear of talking to you, forgotten for a moment. Ships! A topic he is familiar with and can talk about them for hours. “You can see the spaceships… up close?”
“Uh-huh!” you reply with a proud grin. “Come on up, I’ll show you. It’s easy,” you say, reaching down and motioning him to grab the branch.
Feeling an excited flutter in his stomach, Poe puts Captain Fluff under one arm, holding on tight as he tentatively grabs the lowest branch. He starts climbing, a little unsteady, and hesitates when the tree starts to feel taller. You notice his pause, lean down, and give his arm a firm yank to help him up the next branch. He nearly laughs at your outburst of strength, and, before he knows it, he’s sitting beside you, feet dangling in the air.
“There, see?” You point beyond the playground fence, where ships take off and land in the nearby port, and Poe’s jaw drops, watching with wide eyes. The ships look like little metal birds in the distance, zooming by against the sky.
“Whoa… you were right!” he whispers, barely able to contain his amazement. “I’ve never seen them from here before. You can even see them getting ready for takeoff!”
As Poe settles into his spot next to you on the branch, he glances over, gathering his courage to introduce himself.
“I’m… I’m Poe. Poe Dameron,” he says shyly, his cheeks already turning pink. He glances away, quickly looking back up at you. “What’s your name?”
When you introduce yourself Poe repeats your name quietly to himself, as if savouring it. He whispers, as if it’s the most beautiful name in the world… (besides his mom’s obviously). He smiles, then blushes even more, his cheeks burning as he realises you’re watching him. “I think… I think it’s a really nice name,” he adds, glancing shyly at the leaves overhead.
“Thanks,” you say with a big smile, two of your front baby teeth missing from having fallen out recently. “I think Poe’s a cool name too.” When you take a closer look at him, you notice he’s holding something safely under his arm— a handmade doll with white ears and an orange body.
“Hey, who’s this?” you ask, leaning over to get a closer look at the stuffed tooka doll.
Poe’s shyness returns briefly, but he grins, holding out the doll for you to see. “This is Captain Fluff,” he says, his voice suddenly a little more confident. “He’s, uh… he’s my copilot! He goes on all the missions with me.”
You grin excitedly, “Really? You go on missions with him?” With a serious nod, you reach out and gently shake Captain Fluff’s little paw. “Nice to meet you, Captain Fluff, I bet you’re a great pilot.”
Poe beams, clearly delighted that you took Captain Fluff so seriously. “He’s the best,” he says, hugging the tooka doll close. “He always makes sure I’m safe.”
The two of you sit together in the tree, feet swinging as you trade stories about space adventures you’d both want to go on. He learns that you are all about exploring and learning about “vantage points” or all those big words your dad uses when he works on reconnaissance. Poe feels a new kind of bravery here, sitting high up with his new friend, talking about adventure and far-off galaxies. It’s the start of something he is sure he will remember forever.
Tumblr media
The weeks that follow your first meeting turn into a whirlwind of adventures for Poe and you. Poe, who once hovered quietly at the edge of the playground, now spends every recess chasing after you like an eager shadow, his shy smile lighting up whenever you invite him on your latest scheme. Whether it’s scaling the school’s low fences to chase after a lizard crab or daring each other to swing as high as possible, Poe is always at your side, wide-eyed and ready to be brave.
You show him how to climb trees without slipping, leap across muddy puddles without falling, and you help him to face up his fear of leviathan grubs, by using a stick and practically shoving it up to his face for him to see the little worm, you tell him they seem harmless but they are fearless predators when they grow up, but one that’s little as the one on your stick? Your loth cat devours them for lunch. Together, you also build forts out of fallen branches, Poe declares you as his “official lieutenant” of your own makeshift Alliance. Every day with you feels like a new mission, a new world to explore.
One afternoon after school, you and Poe are out exploring, looking for the perfect place to keep on practising “drills”. As you wander near the edge of the old market, you spot some ruins, crumbling and hidden beneath layers of overgrown vines and moss. The walls rise higher than anything you’ve climbed before, making it the ultimate challenge in your eyes.
“This is it,” you say, grinning. “This is going to be the hardest climb yet, Commander Poe. We’ve got to face it if we want to be ready for anything.” You point at the jagged edges of the stone wall, feeling the rush of excitement build up inside you. “It’s going to be tough, but that’s what makes it perfect for ‘recon.’”
Poe hesitates, glancing up at the ruins. His eyes widen with both excitement and nerves. “But… are we allowed to be up there?” he asks, looking around as if expecting someone to stop you.
You give him a sly grin. “Who’s going to stop us? Come on, Poe, don’t chicken out now. This is the ultimate challenge! If we can climb this, then we can face anything.” You nudge him with your shoulder. “I’m doing it—are you?”
Poe looks unsure for a moment but then puffs out his chest, trying to look braver. “I’m not a chicken,” he says, his voice a little shaky but determined.
“Prove it,” you challenge, offering him your hand. “Boost you up first?”
With a deep breath, Poe nodes, taking your hand. You help him up to the first ledge, encouraging him with every step. He climbs higher, using your tips for where to put his hands and feet. When he reaches the top, his eyes widen with pride. “I did it!” he cheers, a bit breathless looking down at you with a grin, lending his hand to you to take, tugging you up towards him, as you did the first time you helped him climb the tree at school. “Told you I was no chicken!”
You both bicker and chuckle for a while, treading dangerously on the ledge of the walls until the path narrows, you both decide to go back, but just as he’s about to climb down first, you both freeze. You hear voices on the other side of the ruins. Slowly, you both peek over the top and spot something unexpected: Kes, Poe’s dad, and your dad, alongside other adults standing together, looking over some papers and talking in hushed voices.
Poe’s face drops as he freezes, realising you’ve stumbled into a place you weren’t supposed to be. The two of you exchange a quick, worried glance, but before you can move, Kes looks up and catches your eye. His expression shifts from surprise to something a little more serious.
“What are you two doing up there?” he calls, crossing his arms.
Caught red-handed, Poe scrambles down, his face flushed with guilt. “We… uh… we were just doing some recon, Dad,”
Kes gives him a pointed look, his eyes narrowing. “Recon? Is that what you’re calling it?” He sighs, shaking his head. “You’re too high up. If you fell… Poe, you’re not just putting yourself at risk, you’re dragging others into trouble too. You know better than this.”
Poe’s shoulders slump, his stomach twisting as the words sink in. “I’m sorry, Dad,” he mutters, his voice barely audible as he avoids eye contact.
With a defiant grin, you think you can make things better, unbothered by the mild scolding of Poe’s dad, you try to speak for the both of you. “We were just training to look out for Empire spies,” you explain with a serious nod. “Poe and I have been training hard to be ready!”
Your dad steps forward, his arms crossed and his face hard with disapproval.“Enough excuses,” he says firmly. “You two. Climb down. Now.” His tone is firm, making it clear he’s not happy about this either.
The weight of his voice leaves no room for argument, and with a sigh, you carefully follow Poe’s lead, your heart heavy as you descend. Once you’re both on the ground, your dad grips your arm, his gaze stern. “We’ll talk about this at home, you’re in deep trouble.” he says evenly, the promise of consequences hanging in the air.
As you’re led away, you glance back at Poe, who lingers for a moment, his hands stuffed in his pockets and his head hanging low. He manages a small, sad smile, lifting a hand in a subdued wave. You return the gesture, your own heart sinking under the weight of guilt and frustration.
Despite everything, the unspoken understanding between you lingers, a quiet reassurance that, no matter the scolding, you’ll both bounce back from this together.
Tumblr media
After the incident, the weekend passes, and even though you were both grounded for what you did, Poe knows that he’d continue following you everywhere, eager to learn from you. Even if he’s a little nervous, he finds himself braver each time, when he’s with you, taking bigger leaps, climbing higher places, and facing every little “danger” you point out. For Poe, every scraped knee and every muddy shoe feels worth it, as long as you’re there beside him, his lieutenant and best friend.
When Poe arrives at kindergarten in the morning with a bright smile, he’s very eager to tell you about the spaceship toy his mom had sent him alongside a cargo that came to the rebel post. But when he reaches the classroom, his smile falters. Your usual seat by the window is empty, your backpack and coat nowhere in sight. His heart pounds as he looks around, waiting to see you run in late, maybe with a story about an adventure you had on the way to school, maybe you also have something to show him and are just  teasing his nerves, making him wait for your arrival at the last minute.
But… you don’t come.
The teacher eventually explains to him that you and your family had to move away suddenly. The words feel heavy, and Poe’s small hands grip the straps of his jacket as his bottom lip wobbles. He doesn’t fully understand why you had to leave or where exactly “away” is, but he knows it’s far enough that you won’t be coming back.
The following days are quiet. He drifts through recess and playtime without his usual spark, his gaze inevitably straying to the tree where you once perched together, where you’d both laughed and schemed like rebels in training. He thinks about the fact that you’re gone, maybe its his fault? Maybe he could’ve stand up for you in front of your dad, maybe that way you would’ve stayed, if you’d both hadn’t gone snooping around, maybe you’d still be with him.
Poe’s little cheeks are stained with tears and he spends more time holding Captain Fluff close, as if the little tooka doll might somehow fill the gap of your absence. At home, he tries to keep up with the “missions” you once led, braving solo ventures to his backyard and recreating your adventures, but the thrill fades faster than he expects.
In time, Poe will come to recognize these memories as something precious, realising how they’ve embedded a spark of adventure within him, a piece of you that remains despite your absence. The small voice you planted in him—an urge to climb higher, to be braver, and to dream bigger—will stay with him, shaping his path forward. He doesn’t know it now, but those days, even the bittersweet ones, will linger within him for years to come, forming a quiet foundation for the hero he’ll one day become.
Tumblr media
Years later, Poe stands in the middle of the busy Resistance base, his mind laser-focused on the upcoming mission briefings, the endless tactical updates, and the hum of pilots and soldiers passing by. He’s been on countless missions, and by now, the routine has become second nature—preparing his X-wing, checking the systems, reviewing the intel. His concentration is unwavering as a Resistance officer details the mission ahead, highlighting enemy positions and strategic points of interest. Poe nods along, mentally mapping out the path, fine-tuning his plan.
But then, across the room, something, no someone,  catches his eye.
Amidst the bustle of soldiers and pilots, talking with another Resistance pilot, is someone he feels he recognizes. His gaze sharpens, as he takes in the details—the shape of their features, the fierce but familiar set of their jaw, the gleam in their eyes that’s both determined and a little mischievous. There’s something about them, something he can’t quite place, but it stirs something in him—like the flicker of an old memory, buried deep. He watches for a moment, distracted from the briefing, trying to piece it all together.
It’s only when the officer calls his name, snapping him back to the present, that he realises he’s been staring. He shakes his head, refocusing on the mission details, but the pull of that familiar presence lingers. His curiosity gnaws at him. After a few more moments, he can’t resist and excuses himself and jogs towards the other side of the hangar.
“Hey,” he says, almost breathless, a soft smile growing as he studies your face more closely. And then, with a look of realisation, he knows it—it’s you. It’s really you. “Tree climber, is that you?”
You blink, momentarily surprised, and then a laugh escapes you. “Wait—tooka doll kid?”
Poe’s face goes crimson, his bravado faltering as he clears his throat. “I, uh—yeah, that’d be me,” he admits, scratching the back of his neck with a sheepish smile. “But, hey, I’ve got a name too, you know. Poe Dameron. Just Poe is fine, though.” he adds, his tone half-proud, half-nervous.
You chuckle softly. “Of course, Poe Dameron, I remember,” you tease, because of course you knew who he was. “Can’t believe you’ve gone from the shy, tooka doll kid that used to follow me everywhere, to being the poster boy for the Resistance.” You raise an eyebrow, a smile tugging at your lips. “Guess you really did become all important.”
Poe grins, his face flushing slightly, though he tries to hide it behind a chuckle. “Well, guess someone’s gotta lead the way, right?” he says, the cocky edge creeping back into his voice.
The two of you laugh quietly together, and Poe’s heart feels like it’s soaring, even within the chaos of the base. His gaze lingers on you as he shakes his head in awe. “Wow... look at you, reconnaissance now, huh?” He recognizes the badge on your arm and chuckles, eyes crinkling. “Just like your dad, and it tracks. You always did love exploring the uncharted.”
You smile, leaning in a little closer, your gaze wandering over him as you take in his strong features, the way his dark curls fall just over his forehead, and that lopsided, boyish grin that’s still the same as it was when you were kids. And those dimples—those same little dimples—are still there, deepening as he smiles at you.
“And you, a squad leader,” you counter back with a teasing smirk. “Not bad, Dameron.” You don’t tell him, but ever since you got assigned that week to move to the Yavin base, you’d hoped you’d bump into him somehow—just to admire him in his element, the confident leader of the Resistance.
Poe’s eyes drop for a moment, a small blush creeping up his neck, getting nervous as your steady gaze studies him, same way it did when you were kids, never faltering. Neither of you speak, taking in the almost surreal reunion.
Suddenly, he’s not sure what to do with himself. His gaze drifts over you as if seeing you for the first time. After all, it is the first time he sees you in your adult life. You're standing there, strong, poised in your uniform, that looks somehow both formidable and very fitting on you. But there’s something else—something about the way you carry yourself, the way the light catches your eyes, the quiet confidence in your stance. He catches his breath, his heart racing just a little as he takes you in, the same person from all those years ago but somehow... different. Gorgeous, even.
For a moment, he forgets how to speak. He’s pulled from his thoughts only when he realises he's been staring too long, he shakes himself back into reality, glancing up at you with a slight cough, trying to act nonchalant.
“You… you look good,” he says quickly, his voice a little unsteady. He clears his throat again, adding with a nervous laugh, “I mean—uh, well… you know. For someone in the Resistance uniform, I mean– this is not going very well is it?” His words stutter out as his hand rubs the back of his neck, but it only makes you chuckle.
“Smooth as always.” You shake your head in amusement at his flustered response.
Poe watches you for a moment longer, his heart still racing from the mix of nostalgia and admiration. As you catch his gaze, a warmth spreads across your cheeks, and you quickly look down, suddenly feeling self-conscious. The way he was looking at you made you realise just how much you had missed him—more than you were prepared to admit. But you shake off the fluttering feeling in your chest and decide to change the subject.
"So, uh... are you leaving soon for a mission?" you ask, your voice a little steadier than you feel. You focus on looking at Poe's forehead instead of his eyes, hoping that the lack of eye contact convinces your brain and distracts it enough for you not to make a fool of yourself, and avoid the heat that just started creeping up your cheeks.
Poe, still a little flushed himself, gives you a sheepish grin. "Yeah, actually, in a couple of hours," he says, eyes lingering on your flushed cheeks. "Lots of pre-flight checks and intel stuff to go through before I head out."
You nod, your mind briefly flashing back to the way he used to prepare for missions as a kid, always following your lead, but the first to volunteer for anything daring. "Sounds like you're always on the go," you tease gently.
Poe chuckles, his gaze softening as he looks down, his foot nervously tapping the ground, shifting back and forth, things never change.
"Well, you know me—always got something to do. But hey..." He pauses for a moment, looking at you with a slight hesitation, then asks, “Hey, after the mission and after I’m off patrol… would you want to grab a drink? Maybe catch up?”
You blink in surprise, a smile tugging at your lips, and for a moment, you can’t quite believe this is happening. Poe Dameron, the fearless pilot and Resistance leader, asking you to catch up. You might have been his childhood friend for a hot moment, but this still feels unreal, you shrug off the doubt and look him in the eye. "Actually..." you start, the idea suddenly sparking in your mind, "how about I suggest something a little more fitting?"
You step a little closer to him, eyes gleaming with a playful challenge. You point off into the distance, toward a towering tree at the far end of the base. "You see that tree?" you ask. "Right there, just on the far end of the base. It's pretty tall... you can see it from a long way off."
Poe follows the direction of your finger, his curiosity piqued. "Yeah, I see it. Pretty big for sure. What about it?"
You smile, leaning in just a bit, as if sharing a secret. "Been meaning to climb it," you say. "And I might need help doing it. So, would that be something that interests you?"
Poe grins, the idea instantly catching fire in his mind. "Climbing a tree?" he laughs, "You know, we're not kids anymore. I don't think this is exactly your idea of a good time as an adult, is it?"
You raise an eyebrow, the challenge in your tone still there as you look at him. "Oh, I don't know, what, you’re gonna chicken out on me, Dameron?"
Poe's grin widens, his chest puffing up as he shakes his head. "Not a chance. I’m not a chicken," he says with mock indignation. "I’ll show you just how not a chicken I am."
"Rendezvous by the tallest tree, then?"
Poe’s grin only grows wider as he gives you a mock salute. "Copy that, Lieutenant." He teases and makes you both laugh again. “I gotta go, but I’ll meet you when I get back.” With a quick glance back, he turns to leave, heading off to prepare for the mission ahead.
As he walks away, his heart feels lighter, his steps more purposeful. The collision of his past and present has left him feeling more confident, as if something has shifted in him. He’s reminded of the person he used to be as a kid—the one who faced challenges with a grin and a sense of adventure, rather than the constant tension and weight of responsibility that so often clouded his thoughts.
But now, with you back in his life, that spark of his younger self is rekindled. He finds himself looking forward to returning to base, eager to pick up where you both left off…

How to Punish Democrats in the United States for Being Pro-Genocide
I've seen a lot of posts about abandoning the Democratic party. (Because, really, is Be Anti-Genocide really that much of a fucking ask??)
And I've seen a lot of posts about how not voting Democrat means the Republicans will win, which means we'll end up with politicians that are both pro-genocide and a bunch of other awful shit. (Yep. This is true.)
But I haven't seen a lot of posts going around about other things people could do, especially with primaries literally being next year in which the entire House of Representatives and a third of the Senate are up for re-election.
For those not familiar with primaries, they are elections that take place before the general election and are the mechanism for how the general election candidate for a political party is selected. So a primary won't be Democrat vs Republican, it'll be Democrat vs Democrat or Republican vs Republican.
To start, yes, a lot of the below require a lot of time and effort. Yeah, the reality is is that the world's a shitty place because people who want to change it are struggling to exist under late stage capitalism. If there's something on this list you can't do, that's fine. What can you do?
This post is mostly not going to focus on Biden. He's not the sum total of the Democratic party, and if more of the party was against him, he'd have a harder time getting traction. That said, if you do have a presidential primary with him on the ballot, you should absolutely vote against him, just on principle.
Depending on the state, you may need to be a registered member of the Democratic Party to vote in the Democratic Party Primary. And, look, registering as a Democrat doesn't mean you have a legal obligation to vote for a Democratic candidate in the general election. There's no loyalty pledge you have to sign that says you agree with every single position the Democratic Party holds. There's not a membership fee. Literally, all it does is mean that your little voting card says you're a Democrat, which establishes that you want to have a say in how the Democratic Party is run. That's it.
Alright, first step. Who are your two Senators and one House Representative? Here's a link to find that information: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials
Second step: Are your elected officials Democrats? (Or Independents that caucus with the Democrats?) And are they pro-Genocide?
If they're a Republican, than your goal is to elect an anti-Genocide Democrat. (Or anti-Genocide Independent who'll caucus with the Democrats. Same difference. I'm just going to use "Democrat" from here on out, and you can substitute in "Independent" if it applies.) You still care about primaries, though. It's just that in the General election, the Republican candidate will be incumbent rather than the challenger.
If they're a anti-Genocide Democrat, send them a letter telling them you appreciate their position, and most of the rest of this post doesn't apply to you.
If they're a pro-Genocide Democrat, is there someone running against them in the primary? https://ballotpedia.org/ is a great resource here.
If they've got a primary challenger, is their primary challenger anti-Genocide? If they are, write them and tell them you appreciate their position. Then write to the incumbent and tell them that them being pro-Genocide is why you aren't voting for them in the primary. If the primary challenger is pro-Genocide or doesn't have a stated position, write to them and try to get them to adopt an anti-Genocide position. Pay attention to town hall events, and don't hesitate to contact the campaign. Primaries don't get a lot of attention, so if you can get a primary challenger to switch positions, there's not a big risk of blow back for them doing so. (In a general election, switching positions can get a candidate labeled a flip-flop, so keep that in mind.)
If there's not a primary challenger or if you need a better primary challenger, who in your community can run as one? Check with your local leftist organizations. Check deadlines and requirements to get a candidate on the ballot. It usually requires getting a certain number of signatures on a petition from people in your area.
Now that you've got an anti-Genocide primary challenger, consider volunteering for their campaign. And, something to keep in mind, turn out for primaries tends to be low, and the smaller the population size of the district, the lower that number will be. It may only take a few hundred votes to swing a primary election, if you've got a smaller district.
While all this is going on, you will no doubt be flooded with messages from Democratic candidates begging for money. For each, check their position. If they're pro-Genocide, don't give them money and then call, email, or write them telling them that their pro-Genocide position is why they aren't getting money. If they're anti-Genocide, and you can afford it, give them a bit of money. Yeah, in the bigger elections, there's ridiculous amounts of money in play, but a primary challenger might not necessarily be rolling in it.
Finally, vote in the primaries.

For everyone who's seen the unity "backtrack", please remember that the runtime fee is still absolutely bullshit and you should absolutely not use unity where you can. They've played their hand and decided that they can squeeze money from whatever bullshit they think they can get away with. DO NOT USE UNITY, DO NOT LEARN UNITY, DO NOT MAKE CONTENT FOR UNITY.
This is still an awful tos and absolute poison for the gaming community and the developer community. Install fees are poisonous for everyone.

October 2024 fic recs
I'm back with another TOS/AOS/SNW fic rec post! Here's some recent fics I really enjoyed!
SPIRK
I Shall Do Neither by onwhatcaptain. TOS. Mature. 166,262 words. Heavy angst, grief, pon farr aftermath. The writer chose not to use archive warnings, and I recommend reading through all the tags on this as well. This fic explores what might have happened if Kirk had died during the kal-if-fee, stretching across the months that follow. This is an emotional fic. There were chapters where I was crying the entire time I read through it. I won’t spoil what plays out, but I was completely satisfied with how this fic ended. It’s a heavy fic, and it’s not for everyone, but god is it good. Plus I love a spirk fic that really highlights the importance of McCoy in their lives; this one really shows how valuable McCoy is to them. I think this fic should be enshrined as a Must-Read when you enter the fandom.
I need a drink of cool, cool rain by Moreta1848. TOS. Explicit. 12,298 words. This fic was beautifully written. It introduces new ideas about Vulcan culture and rain and explores these ideas in a way that I really loved.
milk and honey by spaceisgay (ChancellorGriffin). SNW. Explicit. 28,651 words. Aliens made them do it, temporary amnesia, smut. Spock and Kirk wake up in a prison cell with no memory of who they are. They’re asked to perform an alien ritual… I’m sure you can guess what that entails. Really liked how this was written and it really nails characterizations for SNW spirk.
SPONES
Overthink, Overdrive by fangirlandiknowit. TOS. Explicit. 12,677 words. End of 5-year mission, getting together, love confessions. Aliens force a love confession, and McCoy and Spock handle it just about as well as you’d expect them to. I love when these two are just awful at talking to each other.
The Doctor and the Mailman by bongbingbong. TOS. Teen and Up Audiences. 9,606 words. Western. McCoy is a small-town doctor, Spock is the mailman. Everyone tells McCoy that he should stay away from Spock, but he refuses to listen. First in a 3-part series, I really enjoyed all three parts!
Ashaya (Tehs-tor) by Adenil. TOS. Teen and Up Audiences. 57,762 words. Fake dating/marriage, mutual pining. Spock goes to McCoy when he’s expected to take a spouse. I read this fic during one of my most-recent flights and it was exactly what I needed to sink into while killing time on my flights and at the airport.
Handle Me With Care by Affixjoy. TOS. Explicit. 5,234 words. Hurt/comfort, friends with benefits to lovers. While on an away mission on a cold planet, McCoy realizes he has appendicitis and has to perform the surgery on himself with Spock’s help. This fic is inspired by Leonid Rogozov removing his own appendix in Antarctica! The spones moments in this fic really tugged at my heartstrings!
MCKIRK
That's why I won't get vulnerable by strangenewwords. AOS. Explicit. 18,074 words. Academy era, 5+1 things, porn with plot, genital piercings. I love some porn with plot and feelings, and this one just hit. If you like McKirk struggling to use their words and instead using their hands and mouths instead, this fic is for you.
the way things unearth by kurgaya. AOS. Explicit. 11,299 words. Academy era, Jocelyn comes to visit. I absolutely love how this fic wrote Jocelyn and McCoy’s past relationship. Their backstory was so different from any other fic I’ve read. Jocelyn really felt like her own person in this, not just his ex-wife.
MCSPIRK
Moving across, then coming through by lesbobaggins. TOS. Explicit. 2,754 words. Starts as mckirk but turns into mcspirk. Smut, glory holes, a hot and funny fic where Jim finds out what some of the bathrooms on the ship are used for.
do you love your neighbor (is it in your nature) by Muir_Wolf. TOS. Teen and Up Audiences. 20,071 words. Hurt/comfort, corporal punishment, denied food as punishment. While stationed aboard a small vessel after volunteering to help when the medical staff comes down with a flu, McCoy is unfairly punished by the admiral in charge (of course, it’s far more complex than it may initially seem). I love how much time this fic takes to explore the aftermath of McCoy’s experiences—the comfort in this is so good.
GEN
Give Thy Thoughts No Tongue by WerewolvesAreReal. TOS. Teen and Up Audiences. 38,757 words. Mind control, misunderstandings. Spock is captured while on an away mission, and when he returns, he won’t talk about what happened—but not for the reason you might think. Loved this fic!

Buddie Post-Lawsuit prompt: With medical bills and lawyer's fees piling up, Buck is in serious financial trouble and even though he's back to work, Bobby doesn't let him on calls or work the extra hours he needs. Chim and Hen are sympathetic but can't do much. Eddie stubbornly holds onto his hurt even though he is painfully missing Buck. In desperation, Buck makes the awful decision that he is gonna sell himself for some much needed money. He goes to a seedy part of town to do the deed, only to be spotted by a certain police sergeant/mama bear before he does anything illegal. Athena gets both a meal in him and the horrible truth out of him and she is absolutely appalled. She takes Buck home and in no uncertain terms kicks Bobby out with a glare and no explanation. Next day Bobby, Eddie, Hen, and Chim will all have to deal with hurricane Athena when she comes to the station to clue them in on what's been going on with Buck and tear everything and everyone apart for her boy. CUE THE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF HORROR AND GUILT AND BUCK NOT FORGIVING ANYONE EASILY!
HURRICANE ATHENA MOMMA BEARRRRRRRRRRR

Hi I was wondering if you could do some head canons for Cassidy? Where is his s/o is a big gamer and they introduce him to red dead redemption 2. (Not sure if you know the game or not) I can image Cassidy getting really attached to Arthur and hating on Micah. I can also see them playing the online to get her and Cassidy is just enjoying the scenery and then they turn around to see their s/o getting dragged around by another player.
If you don’t want to write about this it’s totally fine but if you do thank you in advance!
Thank you for the ask , I tried by best .
Synopsis ; You are a huge , HUGE gamer . However your boyfriend , Cassidy , isn't as in tune with the digital world. So you introduce him to a game that you think he will like . ( Red Dead Redemption 2 )
Tumblr media
Cassidy isn't big on games, sure he likes watching you play them, (He just likes watching you do whatever) but he can never seem to win or even understand the concepts of a controller in his hand. The buttons are too confusing, and because you're a huge game nerd, you have multiple consoles with different controllers with different settings and oh my gosh he doesn't get it. How do you memorize all the different buttons, the moves, the characters? He's in awe when you play.
Usually, it would be you on the floor with some type of game projected onto your tv, and Cassidy’s head in your lap while you focus on your game. Occasionally Cassidy would ask you a question about it, but he generally just stayed pretty quiet and admired the screen, and you. That is how it usually went. Until you pulled out a new game, a game you had bought with the intention to show Cole. It’s something you had heard about before, but never really got into. Until you learned there was a multiplayer option.
You hadn’t told Cole about it yet, leading the day as any normal one with your boyfriend following you around like usual. When you loaded up Red Dead Redemption 2, you could already see the glint in Cassidy’s eyes as he sat next to you. You smile, already knowing your plan would work. You started as normally, eyes trained on the game as it played out in front of you. Cassidy was absolutely enthralled and would ask you many many questions about who was who, the premise, etc. He was just so happy to see multiple cowfolk in the media.
He seemed to really relate to and enjoy Arthur. But he absolutely despised Micah, and even booed when the man would appear on screen. He gave his opinions on other characters too, relating Sadie to someone he used to be friends with, and saying you reminded him of Charles. It was cute how he would get excited when you booted up the game. And you absolutely loved it too, the game was quite fun. And seeing how Cole liked it, made it a even better experience.
It got even better when the next day you had set up an extra tv, controller, and of course another copy of Read Dead 2. Of course you had paid the online service fee for both of you, something Cole will never know, leds he lecture you on spending money on him. But how could you not? The way his eyes lit up, voice carrying a happy tilt to it. It made your heart flutter, and now that you could play with him things would be even better. When Cassidy got to your home you greeted him with a hug and a kiss before eagerly leading him to your shared room.
He was confused at your sudden excitement, but smiled along with you as you practically dragged him. His confusion grew even more as his eyes set onto the extra tv setup. Though judging by your extremely large smile and you ushering him to sit down, he wasn’t too worried. You explain to him your plan, fidgeting nervously with your own controller as you tell him you want to try the online feature with him. He accepts almost immediately, though you have to spend some time getting him used to the controls.
The online wasn't that busy thankfully, and you and Cassidy would ride horses side by side and go sightseeing. You would look over at him and just watch him play and interact with the horses. It melted your heart how he would verbally hush the fake horse after accidentally hitting it. He was so kind, and so silly it made your heart swell. Other players would come up to you both, often riding alongside or causing some type of trouble, but it was primarily civil.
One afternoon, Cole and you sat down to play some online as you usually do, however you wanted to show him the lavender fields in Big Valley. Something you knew he would adore. The ride there had you both chatting idly, mainly about Cole's line of work in overwatch. It was going well, and as you two approached the beautiful scenery you couldn't help but smile at Cole. It seemed stupid, getting happy over a game, but seeing how happy your boyfriend looked just made you giddy.
Unbeknownst to you, and to Cole, a player had run up to you with their lasso out, snagging you and just dragging you around the land. Once you had caught notice of this, you let out a burst of laughter. This prompts Cole to look over as well, and the sight of you getting dragged causes him to let out his own hearty laugh too. He chases the player around, vowing to free you from your silly predicament. And he does, fairly easily. The other player finally leaves, leaving you two alone to look at the scenery. And just like you had predicted, Cole loves it.
Playing Read Dead became a sort of pastime for you both, something to do to relax and wind down. Of course Cole would be content watching you play the story mode, and sometimes he would prefer to. But all that you cared about was him having fun, and you achieved that goal.

Unveiling the Marvel: 10 Fascinating Facts About the Brooklyn Bridge
Step back in time to the bustling era of the late 19th century, where innovation and ambition converged in the heart of New York City. The Brooklyn Bridge, an iconic symbol of engineering prowess, stands as a testament to human ingenuity. As we embark on a journey to uncover its secrets, let's explore ten captivating facts that will transport you to the enchanting world of this architectural marvel.
When was the Brooklyn Bridge completed?
The Brooklyn Bridge, a testament to enduring craftsmanship, was completed on May 24, 1883. Imagine the excitement and awe that swept through the city as this colossal structure emerged, connecting the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Who was the chief engineer of the Brooklyn Bridge?
The visionary behind this grand undertaking was none other than John A. Roebling, an engineer with a relentless passion for suspension bridges. Tragically, Roebling succumbed to an injury during the early stages of construction, leaving his son, Washington Roebling, to carry on his legacy and oversee the completion of the bridge.
How long is the Brooklyn Bridge?
Stretching majestically across the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge spans a total length of 5,989 feet. Its dual towers loom high above the water, a testament to the bridge's grandeur and endurance.
What are the main materials used in the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge?
The bridge's construction harnessed the power of steel and stone. The towers were built using limestone, granite, and cement, while the span itself relied on a combination of steel cables and iron. This blend of materials ensured both strength and aesthetic appeal.
How many towers does the Brooklyn Bridge have?
The Brooklyn Bridge proudly boasts two towering sentinels, each standing as a majestic guardian at the entrance of their respective boroughs. These granite-clad towers not only serve as structural anchors but also as enduring symbols of the bridge's resilience.
Can pedestrians walk across the Brooklyn Bridge?
Absolutely! The Brooklyn Bridge welcomes pedestrians with open arms. Take a stroll across its wooden-planked walkway and revel in the breathtaking panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and the bustling river below.
Is there a fee to walk or drive across the Brooklyn Bridge?
Fear not, adventurers! Walking across this historic bridge comes with no price tag. However, if you plan to drive, be prepared to pay a toll. But trust us, the pedestrian experience is unparalleled.
What is the purpose of the Brooklyn Bridge?
Beyond its functional role as a vehicular and pedestrian thoroughfare, the Brooklyn Bridge stands as a symbol of unity, linking two boroughs and transcending the waters that once divided them. Its purpose goes beyond transportation – it's a living testament to human ambition and the relentless pursuit of connection.
How tall are the towers of the Brooklyn Bridge?
Stand in awe as you gaze up at the towering giants of the Brooklyn Bridge. Each tower rises to a majestic height of 276 feet, piercing the sky and leaving an indelible mark on the city's skyline.
How many cables support the Brooklyn Bridge?
The strength of the Brooklyn Bridge lies in its cables, and there are a staggering 14,680 of them! These cables, meticulously woven and anchored, provide the bridge with the support it needs to withstand the test of time.
Conclusion:
The Brooklyn Bridge, a marvel of engineering and a testament to human resilience, continues to captivate hearts and minds. Whether you traverse its walkway, gaze at its towers from afar, or simply revel in its historical significance, the bridge remains a living testament to the spirit of innovation that defines New York City. As you navigate its storied path, remember that you're walking not just across a river but through the pages of history itself.

Omg love love the latest update! Seeing more of a human side from Omega is so so fun!! Also, is this the first time we see Omega refer to Mikey as “Mikey” rather than his full name?
Tumblr media
Him screaming out like this seems like more of an impulse thing rather than a calculated move a computer would do. Along with what the previous asker said about the fonts changing, Omega’s “Donnie” side is really shining through.
Tumblr media
Also with April and the ddr game, him celebrating so hard and saying he “missed this feeing” is rather suspicious from an unfeeling AI, is he hiding something? Is this his own personality or simply how his code is telling him to feel? And the fact that no one mentions it? Makes it even more intruiging! UGHHH so many possibilities with this!!
Tumblr media
Also HOLY PIZZA SUPREME IN THE SKY this panel is just gorgeous!! The orange falling from Mikey’s mask and being the brightest thing in frame; all the shots from the movie but from Mikey’s pov; Casey and Leo having warmer, more yellow-orange lights surrounding them in times of hope; Raph, Donnie, and Mikey’s hands as he tries to make a portal having darker purple lights surrounding them in times of despair; Mikey’s mask colors mixing with the colors of the key to the portal from the movie (the second brightest thing in frame); the purple future vision ooze kind of wrapping around Mikey’s arm like a Krang parasite would; and the family photo being in the center of it all!!
Absolutely amazing work, it makes my day every time I see you’ve updated! So so so SO excited to see where this story goes!! (Also have fun with Mikey’s hair lol)
Aw thank you so much! That whole sequence was so fun to illustrate and I’m glad the point got across with the colors and all the shots being seen through Mikey’s eyes.
Yes we are starting to see more of Donnie shining through in Omega, or perhaps Omega is just becoming more lax in the way he holds himself. The way he talks about feelings is very similar to how Donnie talks about them in the show so it’s uncertain if he’s just mimicking or if there’s something more there. He’s a silly little enigma.

Seven summers, part 4.
Pairing: Draco Malfoy x female!reader
Summary: Every summer, Draco and y/n meet. First, by pure coincidence, then intentionally. Unbeknown to Draco, y/n's a muggle who has no clue he's a wizard. With the rise of the dark lord, how long can this go well?
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
Series Masterlist
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Fifth summer, July. (still)
Suffocating warmth. Y/n tries to shift, desperate for fresh air, but something is holding her into place. One of Draco's arms is wrapped around her firmly. She can feel how he snuggles his face into her hair. She manages to turn around in his arms. Draco groans in protest. Y/n starts peppering soft kisses along his jaw and then pushes her face into his chest. "Mornin'", Draco says groggily. "Good morning.", y/n chirps in a muffled voice. "What time is it?", Draco asks and reaches for his watch at the nightstand. "I don't care.", y/n mumbles and pulls him closer. When Draco finally gets hold of his watch, he groans in annoyance. "We need to get up or we'll miss breakfast.", he tells y/n. "I don't care.", y/n repeats, "I don't want to get up". Draco chuckles and ruffles her already messy hair. "C'mon, we can't spend our last day here laying around.", he tells her. "Actually, yes, we can. And actually, maybe that's exactly what we should do. I mean we don't get to do this again until... until whenever we can lie to our parents again, I guess.", y/n argues. "We can meet again some other time this summer.", Draco soothes her. Y/n immediately rips away from his soft embrace. "Really?!", she asks him excitedly. Draco smiles. "I mean... yes, right? We're boyfriend and girlfriend now. We should see each other as often as we can, right?", he asks her mischievously. Y/N nods frantically. "Absolutely!", she agrees. Draco sits up, as does y/n. "Then let's make the best of today and meet again soon for everything we didn't get to do today!", he tells her. Y/n sighs dramatically. "I guess so.", she says and rolls out of bed. After brushing her teeth and quickly putting on some fresh clothes, y/n follows Draco to the breakfast room. They're served by floating tableware and y/n has to suppress her instinct to gawk at the self-filling cups and plates in awe.
"So, what are you up for today? Anything you'd like to do or see?", Draco asks her while shoving some baked beans into his mouth. Y/n puts down her fork and thinks about it for a minute. "We could take a look around Stonehenge.", she proposes then. Draco nods in agreement. "Sounds like a good plan.", he says. They quickly finish their breakfast. Y/n proposes to take the bus at which Draco snorts. However, considering that he hasn't learned apparition yet and also wouldn't be allowed to use magic outside of school, he eventually agrees. On their way to the bus station, they stop at Tesco and get some sandwiches and snacks to have a picnic later. On the bus, Draco is surprisingly anxious even though he would never admit it. "Have you never been on a bus before?", y/n snickers. Draco shrugs. "I've been in a car before, though not voluntarily.", he tells her. Y/n grabs his hand in reassurance and tells him about a trip she took with her parents on a bus.
Little over half an hour later, they arrive at the historic site. At the ticket office, they pay the entrance fee at the ticket office. "They make us pay for this? Unbelievable.", Draco huffs. "Well, somehow they need to maintain the place.", y/n says. "That's crap. They're turning a profit. No muggle should have the right to exploit a magical site like that.", he grumbles. Y/n almost chokes. Stonehenge? A magical place?, y/n thinks to herself and looks at the giant stones. "Draco, I'm actually not familiar with British history. Can you tell me a bit about the place?", she asks him. She's too curious about how the place connects with magic. "Well, about 4000 to 5000 thousand years ago, witches and wizards that settled in the South of England erected the stones. It was a place for magical rituals and magical culture. Even today, at midsummer night, witches and wizards from all over the world travel here to perform magic.", he tells her. "Wow, I had no idea.", she tells him in awe. Draco nudges her. "Don't you feel the buzzing of magic all around you? It's ancient, I can feel it.", he points out to her. Y/n stares at the stones intensively. Nothing. They're just a bunch of big stones to her. She turns around to him. "This place is amazing!", she beams.
They spend some time walking around the area designated for tourists. Y/n spends her time reading the little information signs that inform the visitors about the history of the place. Of course, witches are not mentioned in any of them. Draco keeps spacing off while looking at the stones. Y/n guesses he connects to the place differently than her. In the afternoon, the two have a picnic at one of the picnic sites. Draco sneers at the sight of the muggle families and y/n feels uncomfortable about it. She really wants to tell him about the muggle thing but she feels like she's into deep now. She's afraid he'd break up with her and they never see each other again. After lunch, Draco pulls her to a less crowded place. They wander around and joke around until the sun starts to set and the tourist leave the place. They get comfortable close to the stones and watch the sunset. When it has gotten dark, they build a small campfire and roast marshmallows over the open flame. Meanwhile, Draco tells her all kinds of fantastic stories about the place his mother used to tell him before going to bed. Y/n snuggles up to him and listens to his stories like a child who's been told fairytales for the first time. She can't help but feel jealous that Draco gets to live in this fantastic, magical world while she's stuck in a world that sucks the fantasy and imagination out of children during their very early years.
She sighs and shivers. It's suddenly become quite cold and the fire does little to warm her. Draco's going on about a story of a witch who supposedly resurrected her child among the stones in front of them. Y/n snuggles closer to Draco and lets her eyes wander over the scenery. Suddenly, a flickering shadow above them catches her eye. It looks like a man in a long cape, she thinks. No, actually it looks like a ghost but instead of a white bedsheet, it's wearing a black one. Suddenly every hair on y/n's body bristles. She's having a really bad feeling. "Draco, what's that?", she asks him and points towards the ghostly silhouette above them. "What do you mean? There's noth-". Draco's sentence gets stuck in his throat. Immediately, he jumps up and pulls y/n with him. "Dementor!", he hisses breathlessly, "What is this thing doing here?". Y/n watches the black creature in terror. That's the thing that can suck your soul out of your body, she remembers. Draco immediately pulls out his wand and raises it in defense. The dementor notices them and swooshes down to them but doesn't attack them. Y/n feels like throwing up. "Y/n, quick! Your wand! Do you know the patronus spell?", Draco hisses. Y/n is paralyzed. She's incapable of moving and she doesn't know if it's her own fear or the creature in front of her or both. "Fuck, why don't they teach us apparition earlier!", Draco swears. He starts rummaging through his pockets. "Y/n, quickly, distract it. With a fire or ice spell.", he orders her. "Y/n!", he yells again but y/n remains unresponsive. "Fuck!", he swears and pulls her along. He throws an opened bottle with something green inside at the campfire and green fire erupts from the small fireplace. "This is probably not part of the floor network but hopefully we get out somewhere. Y/n think about the inn, then jump into the fire.", he says. This rips y/n out of her trance. Jump into the fire? Is he crazy?, she thinks. The dementor floats closer and seems to take a deep breath. "Y/n, go! Go!", Draco yells and pushes her into the bursting flames.
When y/n was little she loved to watch all kinds of cartoons. She always thought it was very funny when characters were shrunk and flushed down the toilet. Right now, she doesn't find it funny at all. Because she feels like she's been flushed down a toilet. She tries to focus on the inn, like Draco told her. Before she can fully realize what is happening to her, the green fire is gone and she stumbles out of a fireplace. "What the heck? What are you kids doing?", an agitated voice complains. Behind her, Draco also falls out of the fire. Y/n scrambles onto her knees and tries not to throw up. "What do you think this place is? It's a bed and breakfast, not a playground for you kids to do as you please!", the voice continues to scold them. It's Goover, y/n realizes after a second. Draco is quicker to get onto his feet. "There was a dementor!", Draco yells, "We must inform the ministry!". Y/n manages to find footing and lifts herself off the ground. "Dementors? What are you talking about, boy? This isn't Azkaban!"", Goover continues his rambling. "It's true, I swear! We just managed to get out of there. Why else do you think we ended up in your living room?", Draco says angrily. Y/n takes a closer look at her surroundings. They're actually in a living room that looks like it's located in the inn. "You are talking nonsense, boy! Now get out of my living room before I contact your father!", Goover threatens. Draco's face goes white and he grabs y/n's arm harshly. He pulls her out of the room and up the stairs. Y/n just follows him. Somehow, she dreads what comes next.
"What the hell, y/n! What were you thinking?", Draco starts yelling at her when they're back in their room. "I-i don't know...", y/n stutters. She still feels so unbelievably cold even though she literally traveled through fire just mere minutes ago. "Yes, clearly you didn't know. What on earth are they teaching you in Ilvermorny? Don't you know any basic defense spells?", Draco hisses. His hand is still wrapped around y/n's arm painfully strong. Y/n pulls at her arm and Draco lets go of her. "Seriously, you didn't even pull out your wand. What kind of witch does not think to do that?", he argues. "I-i was scared...", y/n tries to argue back but her voice sounds meager. "Oh, I'm sorry, y/n, you were scared, of course!", Draco says. His voice is harsh and angry. "It's the first thing you learn in school! Always keep your wand close!", he says and crosses his arms, still holding his own wand. "Where do you even keep it? Don't tell me you keep it somewhere you don't have immediate access to!", he continues to scold her. Y/n's heart sinks. Please don't ask me to show you, y/n begs internally. "Show me! You can't be this defenseless!", Draco orders. Y/n looks like a deer in headlight. "Draco... I-i don't...", she starts but doesn't know how to end her sentence. How can she explain to him that she lied to him all this time? "What? Y/n, where's your wand?", Draco continues to demand. He can see that something's wrong. He suspiciously observes her. Y/n kneads her own hand nervously. "Draco, you see... I don't have one...", y/n finally manages to choke out. Draco looks at her dumbfoundedly. "What?", is all he gets out. Y/n shrugs helplessly. "What do you mean you don't have one? Every witch has one. Where is it y/n?", he says, suddenly feeling nauseous. Y/n doesn't meet his eyes and just lowers her head in defeat. "Y/n... you're a witch, right? You go to Ilvermorny School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, right? Your father works for the Macusa, doesn't he? You said he works at the embassy!", he says almost horrified and desperate at the same time. Y/n can feel tears burning in her eyes. This is not how she thought it would be. She hoped that she could let him down gently. "Y/n! Say something!", Draco croakes and shoves her shoulder. Helplessly, y/n just looks at him with tear-filled eyes.
Draco looks at her for a solid minute before saying in disbelief: "You're a muggle". Y/n can only nod in silence. Draco rubs his hand over his face. "N-no... that can't be right...", he mumbles to himself and starts pacing the room. "I can't... This cannot... My parents will...", he rambles to himself and y/n can't help to watch him silently. Draco abruptly stops. "I can't do this.", he announces and starts rummaging through his bag that he dropped by his bed last night. He pulls out another bottle and puts some green powder into his hand. He shoulders his backpack and leaves his suitcase unnoticed on the other side of the room. "Draco!", y/n finally gets out. Her voice sounds hoarse. Draco finally turns to her. His face contorted in anger. "D-don't! You're not even supposed to be here! You can't be here! If anybody finds out...", he says not finishing his last sentence. "I won't tell anybody!", y/n argues desperately, "I haven't told anybody the past years!". Draco balls his hand into a fist. "That doesn't matter! I-i... I need to go.", he says and turns towards the fireplace. "Wait, you can't leave!", y/n yells but Draco already threw the green powder into the fire. The room is suddenly illuminated by green light and before y/n has a chance to say something else, he's gone.
Slowly, the green fire goes back to normal and warm, orange flames brizzle in the dark room. Y/n chokes and tears start to overflow. She sinks onto her knees and presses her arm against her mouth in an attempt to silence her sobs. She starts to sob uncontrollably and doesn't manage to calm down for a while. When she eventually gets a hold of herself, she loudly says into the empty room: "I need to get out of here". She quickly grabs all her things and carelessly pushes them into her suitcase. She shoulders her bag and then rushes to the door. Before she pushes down the door handle, she stops. I need to be quiet, she thinks. She looks around the room for a last time and then pushes the handle down as silently as she can. She tiptoes through the hallway. When she walks down the stairs, she stops at every squeak of the old wood beneath her feet. Her heart is beating a thousand miles per minute. She can't face Goover. Who knows what that guy will do when he finds out she isn't a witch. Probably hand her over to the magic police or something. When she manages to reach the front door, she bolts. She doesn't stop running until she reaches the train station. She sits onto her suitcase in front of the building. What on earth is she supposed to do now?, she thinks. She takes out her phone and checks her appearance in the reflection of her dark screen. She rummages through her bag until she finds some makeup wipes. She quickly cleans her face and slaps her cheeks. In an attempt to wake up from the nightmare she just experienced or to redden up her ghostly-white cheeks, she doesn't know. She checks her train app. There's one last connection to London, thank god! She'll call her parents when she arrives in London. If she calls them now, they will try to persuade her to go back to 'Olivia'.
She buys a ticket via the app and waits between two columns for the train. She really hopes no security guides are patrolling. They will definitely ask questions on why a minor is outside alone this late. She probably makes a pretty miserable sight. Looking all disheveled with her red eyes and everything. While waiting for the train, y/n's thoughts are racing. What will happen now? Will she see Draco again? Will he tell anybody? Will some wizards come to her house and get her and her family in trouble? Y/n can feel another crying fit coming. She swallows it down. During the train ride, she stares out of the window numbly and tries her best to dissociate. Upon her arrival in London, she phones her parents. The second she hears her father answering the phone, she's sobbing. Eventually, she makes clear to him where she is and they come to pick her up. Her mother stays on the phone with her the entire ride and when she finally sees their car pulling up, she practically throws herself into her mother's arms. She sobs uncontrollably and can't get any coherent sentences out. Her father is angry, she can see that. However, upon seeing his daughter's disruptive behaviour, he bites down his anger and helps her into the car. There's no conversation during the car ride home. Her mother takes her upstairs to her room when they arrive at home. While y/n is lying in her bed wide awake, she can hear her parents having an angry conversation downstairs. She'll have to come up with a good explanation until tomorrow morning.
She presses her pillow against her chest. She's been in trouble before but somehow it never felt like this. Suddenly, she feels incredibly alone. Hiding her face in the pillow, she wishes for nothing more but that Draco was with her. She can still smell his cologne lingering in the shirt she's wearing. You stupid, stupid idiot, she tells herself. Of course, it would end like this. You know how he thinks about muggles since the very beginning. You're such a fool. Did you really think he was so in love with you that all of this wouldn't matter? You lied to him and you probably could get him into serious trouble. Y/n can feel her pillow get wet with her tears. She didn't know her heart could feel like this. She read a bunch of books about tragic love stories. Nevertheless, no story in the world can prepare you for a real heartbreak. By the ache in her heart, y/n is sure about two things: firstly, y/n's feelings for Draco were true and secondly, she will never ever feel like that for a person again.
