I think, since I'm on the Fiddleford and Pacifica train, that Ford would definitely become curious. Like he and Fidds are best friends and one day he starts to notice that along with his talks about Tate, and the twins, he talks about this girl named Pacifica. It's small at first, an occasional tidbit that passes then goes. But slowly it becomes more lengthy, and before Ford realizes it Fidds is talking about this girl a lot. Stuff like-

"Me and Paz were building this robot the other day and good golly she had the most brilliant idea on how to make it better-!"

Or

"Paz is really coming along! I'm really proud of her Stanferd. She's gonna be a force to reckon with I bet."

Like it's almost Tate levels of talking about this kid. And of course Ford's curious, he wants to meet this girl who's being mentored by his best friend. And it just grows more when he realizes that Dipper's got a crush on her and Mabel talks about her like she's a friend. So Ford tells Fiddleford to bring Pacifica along with him next time. As "extra help" for their projects. When the reality is he just wants to actually meet her under normal circumstances. And not during Weirdmageddon. So Fiddleford does bring her and they start their project and at first Ford has no idea how to approach Pacifica. She's quiet and seems to be snide and uninterested. And for a moment Ford questions what exactly Fidds sees in this kid until he actually watches her. It's when he notices the gleam in her eyes, the way she observes everything Fidds does. Taking everything he says to heart, moving around the machinery with more ease than kids her age would. He sees how she listens to the mechanic talk, paying attention to every word despite not seeming interested. And it's during this that he finally gets a chance to actually talk to her, when Fidds asks her to get a tool for him. She goes for the tool box, looking when Ford offers to help her find it. She's hesitant at first, before she agrees. They look for it and Ford just decides to go for it, explaining the project a bit. And Pacifica she's quietly listening and to his surprise she adds her two cents into it.

It's what breaks the ice between them. Soon, Ford and Pacifica are talking about the project. With Ford rambling and Pacifica giving ideas reluctantly before she warms up more to give them more easily. And as they're looking for the tool and doing this, Fiddleford sees it and smiles behind his mask, pleased and warm at seeing his two favorite people getting along. He'd been nervous about how Ford and Paz would get along, so seeing them do so relives a knot that was in his chest. Afterwards, the three work together, and the conversation flows more easily. It's a nice wonderful time.

Of course it’s okay! And I agree, Ford needs to be cuddles and coddled after all he’s been through!

Ford startles as a loud bang echoed out from outside the shack; flinching and covering his ears, dropping his Legos and Dr. Mittens. He pants, his chest feeling tight. ‘It can’t be’ he thinks to himself ‘I’m safe here. This is home, no one from those other dimensions can get here. Get me. Get my family.’ Despite these thoughts, his lips wobble and his eye sting with tears, what if someone came to hurt him? He can’t stop the cries that come from his mouth, his adult brain knows it’s probably just the trashcan lid falling, but he can’t think with his adult brain now. He’s feeling smaller now, his thoughts are smaller now. Logic and reasoning don’t always apply to his Big and Scary Thoughts.

“Ford, Buddy? You alright I heard-Ford! What happened!” Stan called out, his walk into the living room turning into a sprint when he sees Ford crying. “C’mon, tell me what’s wrong, huh? What hurts!?” Stan tries to calm his panicked voice, hovering frantically over Ford.

“Th-the-hic-the noise o-outside. C-coming to get me!” Ford wailed, turning and burying his head into Stan’s shoulder. One hand grabbing Dr. Mittens from the ground, the other going to pull his hair. His hand gets intercepted before it can do that, Stan pulling it away and holding it in one of his with a soft “please don’t” being uttered with the movement.

“Who’s coming to get you, Bud? Hmm? The noise was just Fidds’ raccoon wife getting into the trash can again, nothing more.” Stan doesn’t get it! Ford’s made so many enemies, someone is bound to come find him! He yanks on Stan’s hand in lieu on answering, finding it hard to find the right words to explain. Why can’t he just understand!

“Hey, we don’t yank or pull on limbs, Stanford. Come on, let’s dry those tears and calm down just a little okay? And then maybe you can explain what’s got you so scared.” Stan wraps an arm around Ford’s shoulder, pulling him into a hug, repetitively patting Ford’s arm in an effort to help regulate his breathing.

He breathes in and out with Stan’s tapping, his panting slowing down but the tears still coming fast and hot down his face. He swallows the lump in his throat, clutching Dr. Mittens to his chest, resisting to urge to nibble his ear. “The-the bang noise. ‘Scared me an’ I thought it-it was someone from that time coming to hurt me again an’, an’,” he buries his head in his knees for a moment, Stan letting his, before he takes a big breathe and finishes his sentence, “An’ I got Big Thoughts, Scary ones that wouldn’t go away.” He finishes lamely, closing his eyes as his brother wipes his tears with his top. His nose scrunches up at the smell at Stan’s sweat.

“Oh, those capital ‘Big’ and ‘Scary’ thoughts, it must’ve been really bad, huh, Sixer. But don’t worry, we’ve checked just today, no inter dimensional anomalies or presences, our radar would’ve gone off if there were.” Oh. Ford didn’t think of that. He sniffles, huddling in closer to Stan, basically on his lap, resting his head into the side of his neck. This is why he needs Stan, he’s always there to chase away his Scarey Thoughts, and if chasing doesn’t work, punch them away. That’s why Stan’s his Buddy. The thought of Stan punching his literal thoughts away brings a giggle to Ford’s throat. And more spill out as Stan ruffles his hair.

“Oh? What’s so funny now, you laughin’ at this old man?” Stan points to himself.

“No-o-o-o!” Ford giggles, his hair being ruffled makes him feeling ticklish all over, “Buddy! ‘M not!” He laughs loudly as Stan falls over dramatically, Ford clutched in his arms. They lay there laughing for a good few minutes, Eventually settling down as Ford clings to Stan’s front, not wanting him to leave him.

“Stay, Buddy?” He asks Stan, using his best puppy dog eyes, a weakness of his brothers, but one he’s willing to exploit. And it works, Stan holds him tighter and closer, nuzzling his head and tickling it a little with his sigh.

“Of course, Sixer. As long as you want. We can even nap here-“ Ford cuts him off with an indignant “No” because he has his designated nap spot and it’s not on the living room carpet, it’s his little fort in his and Stan’s room. “Okay, no naps in here then, guess I’ll have to move my brittle old bones alllll the way to our room, huh?” Ford nods his head, glad Stanley got it. But he didn’t make any moves, content to just lay here, not quite all the way calm yet. Besides, he doesn’t have nap time for another hour and-he calculates in his head-seventeen minutes, plenty of time to lay in Stan’s arms on the living room floor.

“Alright, alright. I’ll move you when it’s nap time, just stay here in my arms until then, I need some Ford Floor Time.” Stan squeezes him tighter, Ford melting into the pressure. Well, he who was he to argue with Stan needing Ford Time? Signing, he basks softly in the calming presence of his brother for the next hour-and-now-16 minutes.

Okay something that's been annoying me lately is seeing people who don't like Ford say stuff like, "well he's so narcissistic! He's a bad person because he's self obsessive and thinks too highly of himself!" But like, yeah, of course he thinks highly of himself, of course he thinks he's destined for greatness, of course he's obsessed with being better than others, he has to be!

He's been told his entire life by everyone around him that he has to do something great, that he has a worth he has to live up to, that he needs to make something grand of himself or he's a failure. So of course he thinks this is true, of course he believes people when they say he needs to do something great, he likes believing that over the insecurities telling him he's just a freak worth nothing. Not only that, but if that's not true, if he's not meant for something more, something better, that means he lost Stanley for nothing! He has to believe there's some world shattering goal he specifically was made to reach because if there's not, that means he removed his brother from his life for nothing. If there's no predestined path to greatness he's supposed to be following, that means his brother wasn't a roadblock to get rid of, he was just his brother who made a mistake.

He has to believe he was made for greatness because if he wasn't then he's just a pretentious asshole who pushed away his brother.

I know other people have probably already pointed this out, but I felt like talking about it. Yes, Ford has made mistakes because of his ego, but that ego is a drug everyone in his life has enabled him to partake in. We see that once no one is enabling him to believe in some greater purpose, his narcissistic tendencies deflate and he functions very well with others and is happy to just be Ford Pines, human scientist. He doesn't need the entire world to know him as the best, he can just sail the world with his brother.

Imagine if and when Ford ever decides to retire, maybe he'd decide to come live with you, his partner. Of course he'd come back to visit Gravity Falls every summer so he could see his brother and the twins.

But when he's at your place, he'd probably use any spare room you have as a little quiet study/work area. He may be retired from anomaly hunting, but he still likes his science and science experiments.

He'd go with you to the grocery store, he likes running errands with you. You don't need a shopping list because Ford is the shopping list. He remembers everything.

He documents what you eat in his journal...in fact, he just documents pretty much anything you do in his journal. He says it's for science but really he just wants an excuse to write about you...and draw pictures of you....he likes you a lot. Too much.

If you have a backyard, he'd go outside and sit on your back porch and read. And he'd use it for some of his experiments (You had to give him a stern talking to after an experiment had left alien adhesive on your walls on the inside of your home.... it's still there. It's permanent. Deal with it.)

Overall, it'd be a somewhat quiet, domestic lifestyle.

Had a few headcanons/ideas about Ford taking care of child!reader as his own kid and then Stan having to take care of child!reader after the portal incident- here ya go!

Pre-Portal incident

• In 1974, Ford found you abandoned outside his cabin one night when you were a baby. He didn’t know who your parents were but was reluctant to take you in.

• Ford soon realized that he enjoyed taking care of you, as it made him feel less lonely and more loved. He felt even happier when you started to speak and try to communicate with him, even though most of your words were just baby talk. He was proud of you, though.

• A few years passed, and you were now 8 years old. Ford couldn't have been prouder. He was happy to call you his child, especially when you referred to him as a dad. You didn't have to, after all, he had told you that he wasn't your biological father, but you didn't care and simply loved him.

• He will tell you stories of his adventures while searching for anomalies, and you'll be amazed by his tales of capturing and documenting them. He even shows you his journals so you can see the visuals of the anomalies.

• Your favorite activity to do with him was eating jelly beans with a side of popcorn and watching sci-fi movies. It's comforting for you and Ford as a family bonding time.

• He calls you his "jelly bean" too, which makes you a little embarrassed but you don’t mind it at all.

During paranoia period

• Ford started to get more paranoid and a bit unhinged that you couldn’t understand at the time, you were a kid after all. He will reassure you that he was fine but you can tell something was off with your dad.

• One night, you had a night terror. Ford immediately came to your side when you wouldn't stop screaming and thrashing your limbs aggressively. You don't remember what you dreamed about, but Ford seems to know, and he didn't look pleased.

• You started to feel more lonely after Ford had started to hang in his basement. You weren’t allowed down there so you had to wait for hours for him to come up. You miss him a lot.

Portal incident

• One day, a man who looked like your dad arrived, except he had a mullet and a rougher appearance. It turned out that he was your dad's twin brother! You were briefly introduced to your uncle before Ford told you to stay put upstairs while he and his brother, Stan, went down to the basement. You frowned at that.

• Oh, but you couldn’t help yourself! You had to know what your dad was doing, more so after you heard a lot of yelling between the two adults.

• As you got down into the basement, all you saw was your dad ascending towards a glowing blue light. You froze, you didn’t know what to do before screaming and running after him. Stan looks behind him towards you before the portal closes and gets wrecked in the process.

• You passed out due to the overwhelming sensation after the portal closed. Soon, you woke up on the couch and heard a commotion in the kitchen. At first, you thought it was your dad, but as you peeked out, it was your uncle Stan, and he looked wrecked.

• It was a difficult situation for Stan to explain to you why your father wasn't here at the moment. You couldn't comprehend why your dad had left you behind.

• Stan soon starts to realize that you don’t exactly remember how your dad exactly "left". Your memories were too fuzzy when remembering about the portal. Believing it was a dream or another night terror you had again.

Teen years period

• The year was 1987, and you were now 13 years old. Your uncle, Stan, had raised you since you were 8 years old. Your memories about the incident were still fuzzy to you, especially more when you tried to remember about your dad, Ford. It's almost like he didn’t exist in the first place.

• Uncle Stan tried his best to take care of you, though his parenting methods were questionable. Still, he had a good heart and tried teaching you the hardest he could.

• He taught you some boxing lessons too so you’ll be able to defend yourself after you've been picked on by a few bullies in town. You appreciated your Uncle Stan wanting the best for you.

• You did once accidentally called Stan, dad one time. He didn’t let it up and embarrassed you about it for a whole month. Didn’t mean it made him cry a little.

• Whenever you question Stan about Ford, he’s reluctant to give you answers. Sometimes, he would change the topic when the question was too much to bare to answer. You didn’t want him to get upset so you dropped the subject entirely.

• Your favorite activity to do with him was making new fuzzy creatures for the mystery shack he hosted during the days. It was fun and made you laugh when Stan would give voices for your creations you made.

Idk when Im gonna get over this cartoon

I already rewatched the entire Gravity Falls series aaaand didn't cry this time! The endings are always hard to watch for me especially when Im emotionally attached to a particular cartoon. But this time I have more to explore with it! Still waiting for the book and the website isn't completely solved yet!

Hope we gonna see something more in future, like with pines bros or smth.
