thinking about her today.

12 year old me, on an aphmau instagram fan account, declaring publicly she was aromantic. but 2 months later and now 13 years of age, deciding to take it back. i decided i was too young to know.

and after all this time… she was right. she had been right the entire 5 years succeeding this when i tried to deny my aromantic-ness before accepting defeat at 17.

i knew i was different from 12 years old, knew i was different in the way i loved, despite a complete lack of experience with whatever i thought ‘love’ was. i have known i was queer the entire time, i just didn’t want to go back to that label, because i thought it was a one-way ticket to dying alone.

obviously i know that’s not the case now, but it was a tough road to reach this point. hell, exactly two years after i added ‘aromantic’ to my instagram bio, i was getting into my first (cough, long distance…) relationship.

12 year old me would’ve been so confused on what i was doing. 14 year old me would’ve been even more confused to find out both of us in that relationship turned out to be aroace. and now they’re your one way ticket out of dying alone.

equally, 17 year old me would be confused why i’m so distraught again over being aroace… but the journey never ends, does it…?

you are never ‘too young’ to know if you’re aro/ace. and!!! as much as we can be right from a young age, we can also be very wrong too…!! and that’s natural…!! what’s life if not constantly discovering new things about yourself, and about your orientation?

it will never be harmful to change your label multiple times (if you even want one..!!). all that matters is the validation and comfortability in your own feelings. feel in the moment and worry about the future later.

I was at a harcore/punk show the other day and I had so much fun! This was the second time that I ever were in the mosh pit but it was so fun and i moshed like crazy! I think i... FUCKING LOVE PUNK! her latest project – a sanctuary for trans and gender-nonconforming people that she built on the property where she lives in the southern conservative state. She first called it House of GG, after her initials, but recently renamed it Tilifi, which stands for Telling It Like It Fuckin’ Is, something Miss Major is exceptionally good at doing. Next door to her house, connected by a path she painted bright yellow, is the Oasis, a guest home where she invites trans leaders and loved ones to stay, with a singular goal: to rest and relax. “I’ve gotta make joy here, because it doesn’t exist in the normal world,” says Miss Major … Visibility, she says, means the deaths of her people are now counted, but it doesn’t mean their lives are being saved and protected: “We got gay marriage, yay! But that doesn’t affect transgender people. The girls are being murdered more and more each year.” She rolls her eyes at the order of the LGBTQ+ acronym: “The T should be first. We’re integral.” … “They want us to live in the 1950s. No. Get off our fucking backs and let us live. They try to push us back – well, that means we gotta put the gloves on and fight again,” she says. “We have to get rid of the people in charge – the 70- and 80-year-olds who hold us down, who want to try to suppress us. You get rid of them, and we can build up, and move forward. People have to organize and get it together, and we also must vote.” She adds: “I know the world I would like to live in. as much as i love to criticize yellowjackets as i frankly think it's a fumbled attempt at an intriguing premise i CANNOT get behind the "yellowjackets is not as gay as advertised" crowd. i'm not even personally that invested in shauna/jackie and i know there have been dismissive comments from certain actors about the nature of their relationship and well rip to those people i guess because reading shauna/jackie as anything other than a budding lesbian romance tragically cut off before it could bloom is just. wrong? it's not even subtextual, it transcends the text, it's the most important relationship in the story, it IS the story, at the heart of every single thing that happens or doesn't happen is that these two girls were in deep lesbian love with each other. there is no other way to read it if you try to complicate or simplify it by making it about jealousy or identity or friendship you lose both the core sexual desire and the deep romantic love that were (and still are) driving and twisting and softening and ruining everything around these young women
