I wish the Mythbusters were real cause then I could ask them to test if Serena Williams can deflect an RPG with a tennis racket if she swings hard enough.

and i do wish stories with characters getting stabbed would focus more on the aftermath of the situation more often. they always like to timeskip the recovery but like maybe i wanna see that cartoon character spend 20 minutes poking different parts of their arm because the nerves got messed up. maybe i want to see them forget halfway through recovery and bump the wound by accident and scream with the power of a thousand suns.
#^ two things i did a lot in the month or two while waiting for my hand to heal after the foolish midnight woodworking incident#because the deepest part was between my index finger and thumb the nerves were strange in multiple fingers#theyre great now i got all feeling back but its wild#and also for some people the feeling never comes back the same. my dad accidentally got a chunk outta his finger because of a#plate explosion incident (very old plate that mustve had weird secret faultlines waiting to crack randomly) and he has like 90%#of the feeling back but even years later it still feels a bit odd. and these are pretty minor injuries compared to like#a cartoon character getting a 4 inch knife in the arm. i wanna see the consequences. show me the quences bro

i love cyberware. it's so intimate
#personal#it's so. versatile as a storytelling device and just as like. extension of yourself. there's so many things you can do with it#obviously there's the weaponry cybernetics like the mantis blades gorilla arms etc which already fucks on its own#because you can combine it with your oc's fighting style... like reid has a single mantis blade and a monowire#and he combines the two to land sickass combos in combat and it's FUN#then there's sooooo many options for medical cyberware but at the same time there's the whole cyberpsychosis risk that has to be#taken into account for stuff like that. but also you can think about how that would set in and how it can be prevented and all#cassidy has a lot of cybernetic bones to replace his own because a lot of them got shattered in a very bad accident he was in#mikhail has a spine replacement and protective plating to strengthen it#there's the obvious use of prosthetics but also think of like. implants and more invisible pieces of cyberware that could be#used to like. relieve or even get rid of [chronic] pain [that the user would otherwise have]#there's the whole intimacy of the personal link... being able to connect yourself to others and whatnot#i loooove thinking of like. people going through information on a datashard together by having one of them plug it in#and then the other person connecting through personal link to see the information too#or just the act of slotting in a datashard for someone else. waaahhhh#letting your friends give you decorative cyberware how some people would let their friends give them tattoos...#the process of taking care of newly set cyberware to make sure the part of your body around it doesn't go numb etc etc#and then if it's cyberware with open parts or whatever you can STICK YOUR FINGERS IN IT!#dev has the chest cavity thing with the wires. you can put your fingers in that. he would like it#beckett has the maw. when it's closed there's the one cybernetic line and guess what? you can put your fingers in that#and he would like it#anyway i can probably say more because this is definitely not everything that i'm thinking of but also my brain zoomed out#but like. do you understand me

So I've been pulled into some Mechwarrior shenanigans and I truly forgot how much I liked the concept of 'its a fancy walking tank and it's unwieldy but can take a hit and is incredibly effective in the hands of a good pilot' over the 'i get in and become superman' style. Both are good, I just like one better. Also probably why I enjoyed the MSG: The 8th MS Team more than a lot of other MSG's...also early Code Geass fights
#the vulnerability makes the stakes higher and the actions more meaningful to me#some of these its like cool youre untouchable now#and thats all well and good#but also my giant fancy tank can trip because i got cocky and my actions have consequences#rip a robot arm off with your other robot arm and smack someone with it because shit hit the fan and thats what youve got#eject out the back/top after taking too much damage because what matters is the pilot#the concept of extreme modification also appeals to me and i like it better when its very visual#like yes i do want to see that you upgraded your shoulder mounted cannon with an artillery-style barrel thay shoots AP rounds#dont just say 'oh its 30% faster' like no show me give me a cool doodad#add frontal armor plating and extra jump rockets and cockpits full of big switches and levers and displays and buttons to use it all#otherwise it feels like such a disconnect to me and boy i sure am rambling whoops

hell day today and i'm only two hours into my EIGHT HOUR SHIFT
#9 to 5 by dolly parton starts playing in the background..#literally had to open up shop alone 2day and also was entirely alone for the first 45 min. of my shift so that was already a negative start#to the day + i heard that i can't have my break later than two thirty which is very bad for me bc 1) there'll be a lot of ppl all around me#when i'm eating which i already dislike and 2) like 85% of ppl taking their break around that time are VERY noisy eaters so even worse and#then 3) it'll be really loud in the room as well bc everyone's talking loudly and eating and the cutlery's clanging against plates and such#and also some ppl have actual full-blown arguments with each other in the break room bc half the ppl here hate each other's guts so more#negatives to the day and then on top of that we've had sooooo many annoying customers already today who r just. intent on making u stressed#out and upset and literally will tell u to your face to 'do your job better' like bro...i can easily tell you haven't worked in retail....#also someone hung their clothes on the rack outside the fitting rooms which is where u hang ur clothes when you're DONE fitting them & don'#want them bc they don't fit or don't sit right or u just don't rlly like them after all so if clothes are hanging there we the ppl working#there WILL take them and hang them back in their original places what did u expect to happen?? anyway someone hung the clothes they had#tried on already and did want there and i reached out to take them bc like. that's what we do here..we hang the clothes on the 'discard#rack' back in the store bc else the rack gets stuffed and the woman literally grabbed my arm and said 'those are mine what do u think you'r#doing' LIKE?????? GIRL THE RACK'S THERE FOR A REASONNNN ofc i'm going to assume u don't want them anymore if they're hanging there that's#why it's called the DISCARD rack....also how am i to know those specific clothes are yours HONESTLYYYYYY STFU AND GET OFF ME#ALSO some dude was like (to his child but like. looking at me while he said it.) In 5.6 days I could have a 25% scale Outrage MK.II, as opposed to 16 days for making a 1:1 scale Outrage... I'd have to do it in 4 pieces at a time at 25% so I generated a gcode for the first 4 just to see how it goes. Tomorrow I'm gonna test some different settings and if they go well I might give these parts a try, since it takes as much filament/time as the big ps2 HOS models I've been doing. Idk if I'll end up doing all 16 parts at 25% scale though, but it'll be a good test for the precision of my printer since they have assembly pegs that need to be exact.
Each part is approximately 1.5" (38mm). These are parts 1 through 4:
It would be about a foot long at 25% scale (1:1 is near 4ft exact). I won't attempt the 1:1 scale version until I have an upgraded motherboard and install the second Z-axis on my printer.
