I unfortunately picked up Bravely Default 2 again (I bought it back when it released) and then started over since I last played it in June 2021. And. You know what. I like these silly beans. And then I saw concept art for Dag's expressions and I am not the same. Why did they decide to give him huge fangs in it.

It's been more than 20 years and for some reason I feel that Gosho hasn't given Kaiao any development, how can more than 20 years pass and Aoko dynamics, relationship and feelings remain the same? At this point I feel like Gosho is just going to make them date because "they already liked each other" they remain in the same status quo

Hey, if we go by DC romance progress, they've been going too fast. We've already had suspicion of identity chapters, and that didn't happen until more than 400 chapters in DC. /j

Since heists have taken over any character development recently, I don't even know if Kaito and Aoko will even get any romantic progress. Maybe the actual identity confrontation will happen down the line, since that's thief drama, but atm, it really wouldn't surprise me if they only ask each other on a real date at the very end of the manga.

Like. I'm sure Gosho would love to make MK a love drama as well, but he writes MK so rarely, and usually as hype for something Kid related in other media. So the MK stories tend to be heavy on drama that can only take place at Kid heists. (To the point that the new chapters just. Use Kid as the plot device to show off a new character. Even Hakuba's never gotten so much 'look at this character being a detective' treatment in MK.)

-sighs- I just feel bad for MK as a series at this point. I like the characters, I like the general story idea, but. It's been going down a very steep hill with Gosho wanting things exciting, but not wanting any real progress in. Anything. But unlike old MK, the new stories aren't even nice standalone setpieces of story, they're... mundane. They could be high stakes, if you purely look at the scenarios on paper, but. We all know nothing's gonna happen to Kid. Nothing even happens to him when the actual bad guys show up, much less one-time antagonists.

We need actual character focus and development, not heist drama. Badly. Not even romance, though that'd be a nice change. Just any character expansion of our limited cast of characters. Gosho wants big, all the time, meaningless big stuff, when small would be so nice.

I was gonna write an essay months and months ago on why I personally didn’t feel like I needed chapter 2 of 8:11 because I feel there’s enough in the story to hint at what happened prior to the game and where the game is going and that a completely open ended story was kind of cool and that it would be fine if dubuk felt he no longer needed to continue it for whatever reason. And I didn’t bother finishing it because it felt contrarian and pretentious as hell, and now that dubuk has actually made a statement on not finishing it, it just feels . Weird i guess.

God, Otto can just fuck alllll the way off. What a compete shit human being. What never came across in people talking about how he went evil to try to save the woman he loved is that she didn't want him. He's a creepy stalker obsessed with his imaginary relationship with a lesbian woman. You might think I have strange priorities to find that worse than literally trying to end the world but too bad.

I know I'm still early and my thoughts may change with later story but for now I want to say: Can we not compare him to Stelle ever again please. Let us compare her to Kallen instead:

It's honestly wild to me how closely I wrote Stelle to these other women without knowing about them and despite it being a pretty big departure from canon Stelle (so far. She's grown a lot through 2.x). Makes me feel more justified in changing her like that. Like I correctly identified a major theme of the franchise.

Of course another major theme of the franchise is "immortality bad" and I kicked that one out the door, so.

I love the items in acnh and I sometimes fantasize about playing the game again, but then I remember that the first month after you make your island is the most taxing AND the most fun you'll have and then everything after that is mind-numbingly boring

It’s interesting to me that I often have a lot of kind of angsty fic ideas and sometimes even get a little ways into writing them, but those are never the ones I finish/get hooked on.

My Fare Lady is probably the darkest one I’ve got that’s gotten as far as it has, and I definitely think that the angst elements are both why I wanted to write it and also what prevents me from working on it unless I’m really in the right mood for it.

Not that I can ever bring myself to write straight angst, it’s always hurt/comfort with slightly heavier hurt depending on the fic

Anyway this post is me trying to dissuade myself from writing a more somber Harvey/oc fic with a Gotoran oc so we can talk about the war and also so I can unpack what I call my ancestral trauma dream about the bombing of Hiroshima WHICH IS, YOU KNOW, PRETTY DARK FOR A SDV FIC
