I sometimes think about Desmond in a transformers au, where he'd either be a human trying to avoid the whole alien robots coming to earth or is a bot trying to stay out of the war

(I like to think he'd transform into a motorcycle lol)

I mean… why not make Desmond’s life miserable (affectionately) by making it both?

So let’s do the usual Desmond is the ultimate isekai protagonist and kick him in the Transformer universe of your choice after he dies after operating the device.

Desmond finds himself in a world very similar to his own that the only difference is that there are no Assassins or Templars or even Isus in this world. If you want to give him a headache, this world has Assassin’s Creed as a fictional franchise that started out as a video game.

And it’s only small blessings that the name Desmond Miles is not that weird and he doesn’t look like the game Desmond Miles because the game Desmond Miles always have a different face in each game.

So, anyway, the Autobots and Decepticons start their war again here on Earth and Desmond is trying not to be part of it.

Unfortunately for him, it seemed that the war keeps following him for some reason.

Desmond thinks it’s a coincidence and he’s just focus on helping people escape the destruction that comes with the Decepticons not having any problems with collateral damage and the Autobots only being able to prevent so much before having to focus on actually trying to take down the Decepticons.

Then…

Desmond almost gets crushed by the rubbles…

Only to be able to get into safety by turning into a motorcycle.

What. The. Fuck.

He doesn’t know it yet but…

The reason why the Decepticons and Autobots are always in the vicinity where he is or seemed to be going the same direction?

They’re looking for the same thing:

The Allspark, a powerful artifact from their world that is said to be able to create new Transformer life.

And they can only get the ‘area’ where it’s supposed to be, not its exact location.

Something that they find to be strange.

They believe that one of the humans might have it but that’s not possible because the AllSpark cannot be held by a human.

None of them can even think of the possibility…

That the AllSpark has taken human form.

needy. a boy who wants more and more from you, who feels himself drained by any contact other than your own. he treats you as if you were a charger, clinging to you awaiting your restoration to his social battery. hes not big on words, preferring to show his affection with actions. laying his head against your lap quietly, leaning against your shoulder, hugging you from behind. small yet romantic gestures in which he finds healing. a safe haven where he can unwind in a most vulnerable way.

attentive in every way. it’s as if he had a third eye, constantly lingering over you. monitoring you. noticing your every action, if your eyes have faltered slightly, or your eye twitches at someone in dismay. he’s notice it, and taken note of it. his read on your body is incredible, the ability to aid you in escape from an uncomforting situation without even a word from you is a special little skill he claims to have learned from time spent with his crew.

shows you off like you’re the biggest prize hes ever won. to him, you’re worth more than any trophy! the amount of times your name has slipped off his tongue without him noticing might break a record. his eagerness to ramble about you is endearing.

a place where she belongs. somewhere she feels shes truly appreciated, truly cared for within someones presence. she’d struggled so much with being left out, mocked for what she thought was impressive. but to you? its different. the difference in your attitude toward her ultimate and identity allows her to display her upmost honest self with you. her nerdy comments, her attitude, her vulnerability. who allows herself to become lost within your presence, long enjoying the safety and sense of security you’ve given her. there couldn’t be anything she could ever thank you with.

sweetest girl ever, though thats a given. worships your body with praise, kisses your everywhere. places you’re insecure about, places you think are odd, places you think are unique. she’ll kiss them until you love them the way she loves you. she appreciates every part of you, from the inside to the outside. if you’re insecure, she cheers you on. she helps you build a good view on yourself. if you’re confident, she feeds into it. she’s your number one supporter. nobody is perfect, yet to her, you’re the closest thing there is.

spoils you. shes worked so hard, so why wouldn’t she? to her, any money put toward you is worth spending. expensive stuff, fancy dates. though she doesn’t enjoy throwing around cash for the sake of it, maybe you’re an exception. someone like you who indulges in her interests, who is willing to listen to her ramble about future business opportunities and handle her busy nature whilst still loving her all the same. your patience is rewarding, as long as everything is put to use.

despite her outgoing, overwhelming spunk, chill days have become a frequency with her. days where you two take time to indulge in each others presence, enjoy games and shows, simply being together. not that its any less chaotic, of course shes still energetic as ever, yet off camera within the walls of your home, it allows her to be a more clingy version of herself. one that allows herself to bury herself within her partners embrace, paying less attention to games, and more attention to the person in front of her.

a darling who wants to learn from you, someone who represents the figure of an older sibling to her, someone who means so much to her. she clings to you. she takes after your actions, your thinking style, your way of speaking. taking words and forming them within her own speech, following you around like a curious puppy eager to learn the things you’ve been indulging in. she enjoys your time, and wants to be like you, wholeheartedly.

- my crack theories were wrong but yk what im SO GLAD this is better than i could ever imagine

- DAMON AND DIANA YOU ARE SO REAL TO ME. she stood up for him when nobody else would. he stood up for her when nobody else would. damon, someone so stoic and logical, was moved to question such a seemingly open and shut case at the sound of her tears, at the impact of her kindness (in the pathos route ) AH😭😭

- the difference between eva and damon…is that deep down damon slowly started to accept others kindness…while eva chose to deny it no matter how obvious it was that some people truly did care.

- i am a SUCKERRR for characters like diana so highly driven by empathy that it is simultaneously their greatest strength but also their weakness. she feels so deeply for *everyone* and it’s what causes her to keep her chin held high even after everything, but the sheer savior complex that’s starting to develop makes me worry for her

- DAMON DAMON oh my god the first time he let his guard down and trusted someone even after scolding everyone else for doing so it blew up in his face. seeing him with tears streaming down his face at the sight of eva’s death (looking almost unaware of the fact he is crying), just to revert to blank shock afterwards, and finally harden into frustration and distrust—oh my god. like i really have to applaud how accurately they captured the behavioral nuances of being emotionally stunted

- the daily life segment was so charmingly written, highly elevated my opinions on characters i previously felt neutral about—namely kai and desmond. they are both very dear to me now. also as much as i somewhat dislike using the term “tsundere” to describe emotionally complex characters…tsundere damon was so real this chapter, very funny to watch

- on this same note damon allowing toshiko’s nickname for him while shooting down the others…they are the siblings ever

- i just really like how these characters try their best to intelligently approach the killing game the way actual people would. when tragedy strikes, it’s all the more chilling knowing you would’ve tried problem solving the same way

WIP excerpt for inkwell; Billy adopts Conner and it actually goes pretty good! (( chrono || non-chrono ))

“Oh, you don’t have to do those, you’re the one cooking,” Billy says. Lynn pauses again, then looks up again with another frown. 

“What?” he says. 

“Um–if somebody cooks for you, the polite thing to do is do the dishes for them after. So I can do ‘em,” Billy clarifies, because probably Cadmus actually wasn’t really very interested in teaching Lynn, like, normal manners and stuff, come to think. Because Lynn wouldn’t have needed to know that, if they weren’t ever gonna be letting him go be normal. 

Jerks. 

Lynn stares blankly at him again. He’s holding a dish. Billy hopes he’s not embarrassed or anything. It makes sense that he doesn’t know, obviously, and even if it didn’t make sense it’s not like Billy’d hold it against him, but, like–obviously Lynn doesn’t know that kind of thing yet. 

It’s probably gonna be a while before he does, Billy figures. Though Lynn’s technically still really little, so he might have an easier time letting his guard down a little? He hasn’t really had much life experience to tell him he shouldn’t, so . . . 

Billy . . . well, he learned pretty quick not to let his guard down too quick in a new foster home. Or, like . . . ever, really. At all. 

He’d like it if Lynn just . . . didn’t have to, though. Didn’t have to learn that kind of thing, he means. Like–yeah, definitely Lynn should keep his guard up on patrol and missions and stuff, but not at home. 

There’s not any kryptonite in the apartment for a reason. Pretty much the same reason Billy wants Lynn to be able to let his guard down. 

“You want to . . . do the dishes,” Lynn says slowly. 

“Yeah,” Billy says. “I mean–if you like doing them yourself it’s fine, just since you cooked I thought I should at least, you know, offer?” 

Lynn stares blankly at him some more. He does that a lot. Billy wonders if Lynn’s maybe just not very good at using facial expressions yet, come to think. That might make sense, right? He saw some pictures of the other genomorphs in the mission report, and most of them didn’t have very expressive-seeming faces either, and almost nobody actually human-looking spent too much time working down on Lynn’s sublevel, it seemed like. And also the head security guy apparently wore a helmet with a half-mask involved, and Dr. Desmond was, um . . . maybe not a great person for Lynn to be taking any cues from, considering–plus who even knows how hands-on he was in the lab anyway–so maybe Lynn just still hasn’t seen all that many expressions yet. Like, outside of his uploads and stuff, anyway. Or maybe he just didn’t see all that many of them “growing up”, depending on how awake he was for that? 

Or both, maybe. Maybe just both? 

Cadmus did not do a very good job teaching Lynn how to be somebody outside Cadmus, Billy is pretty sure. Which, well–yeah. Of course it wouldn’t have. 

Cadmus didn’t want Lynn to ever be somebody outside it, or even be outside it at all. 

That’s just so, so messed up.

He is trying desperately to be like Eris as much as possible. But after that whole USB incident, he always has this kind of doubt in the back of his mind. He always tries to push it away, but...

He is very proud of himself at this moment to finally become someone who is well loved not just by Eris but by others. I think internally he has a bit of conflict with never wanting to be like his past self but also not sure if he is ever able to let go of it completely.

When Desmond tells him about what Eris has done before, he tries to distance himself from Eris. Let's say he's soul searching and kind of confused. Maybe he thinks that the people around him can fill that hole in his heart.

I don't know if he believes Desmond completely about what he says, but I think at that point he is aware that he is not the type of person to say anything that he doesn't believe, even if he is a bit misguided at times.

I think he wants to return to Eris, but like a cat, he wants to roam around and explore. It's too bad Eris wants a house cat, not a roaming one.

PreViolence Milo

He is happy that he's much stronger now physically. Nobody will bully him and in fact they're kind of intimidated at how fast he changes. None of the bullies that used to come after him want to look at him or even approach him.

He is very happy and loves Eris. I think he's having the time of his life and feels loved finally. Sure, their methods were kinda scary at first... but he understands. It's to protect the ones he loves- the one he loves.

He definitely can see the improvement from back before he was weaker. He doesn't actively try to run away from his old personality like Manipulation Milo does but he knows he will never be the weaker person he once was. And it will stay like that.

When he first meets Poison, he's genuinely scared. He doesn't really know what to do- I mean he has trained for fighting but watching the person he loves be hurt... it's scary. It's really scary.

I like to think when he does start beating everyone up, he doesn't actually remember a lot of it. It's like something in him snapped when Eris told him he was suppose to protect them. The aftermath was scary too... but..Eris was there... and safe...

I think he was slowly trained out of that fear. Eris knows how to best train their guard dog, after all.

So just think about Becky trying her best to help with Anya's first love (mission) spontaneously mentioning that her older sibling shares class with Demetrius, Damian's older brother.

▪︎This obviously piqued her interest, being naturally curious about Becky's older sibling Since she haven't mentioned her a single time.

▪︎ Later Anya forced Becky to take her to her sibling's classroom while babling something about a mission which Becky assumed is Anya confessing her undying love (hate) to Damian.

▪︎ You couldn't hide your confusion as your little sister with her friend started vomiting milion words at once, but the most loud ones were definitely "love, siblings, Anya, Bond? Anya's mission? Desmond D-"

▪︎ Wait one of the Desmond dudes was your classmate!

▪︎ Let's say one thing let to another and you had to make an agreement with your little sister since you owed her for a thingy she helped you with in past.

▪︎ You were now assigned a mission too. To befriend one of the Desmonds, more concretely the one who's attending the same class and year as you. And not just be close, but close enough to invite your little sister AND her friend over to his family's house which any normal person would exlect to be in MONTHS... maybe even years.

▪︎ You weren't interested in politics and definitely not with your classmate who happens to be the chairman of the National Unity Party of Ostania. He wasn't on your list of enemies or anything, but you have never spoken to him in your whole life.

▪︎ Was your classmate you never interacted with surprised that some nobody suddenly spoke to him?

... To be honest you don't know yourself with his facial expressions.

Luckily embarrassment and an attack to your heart wasn't the only thing you ended up with. Him not minding helping you with math was more than thousand times bigger step than you expected, but asking you for YOUR help in English was too much for you.

▪︎ So obviously after few weeks of studying together he would open up a little or at least relax a bit around you, right? You were so wrong...

▪︎ While you got used to his robotic like personality he was still staring into your soul whenever you solved anything wrong.

▪︎ Okay so, studying together did not help, maybe because it's so important to him?

▪︎ Why not just risk it all? Was the last thought you had before asking the older Desmond on a date... yes you heard that right, a date.

▪︎ The rejection was kind of what you expected, it was either staring into your soul and then leaving you or rejecting you cuz of his lack of time (or your lack of being what he wants from a partner).

▪︎ At least he was nice enough to do the second one.

"I think you misunderstood our studying lessons..."

"Oh?"

"I didn't agree to study with you because of any romantic interests, you are simply one of the best students in English and i wanted to know my English level in comparison."

This was probably the longest thing your heard him say.

"And from the other side?"

"What side are we talking about exactly?"

"About me, why not date me? I cannot be that bad."

You weren't even sure about formulating your sentences anymore and just desperately tried to blurt out sonething.

"I don't wanna date for fun, that's waste of time. If i will ever date someone it will be to marry them."

"I would marry you."

At this point you had no idea what you were speaking or why you were so desperate, but the worlds came out of your mind on their own.

Another moment of silence.

"Alright, I will introduce you to my parents on this Friday evening. "

That you were shocked was an understatement, but you weren't able to say anything since Demetrius was already on his way out of the classroom.

I don't know how to tell you, but Norma Desmond on the left there is doing a caricature of over the top silent movie acting. The point was that even in the 50s, nobody was acting like that! (Nor was actress Gloria Swanson in her actual silent movies.)

Wip time!

I had a story idea where the kids go to an orphanage and are like very judgemental of the whole place. Mainly Becky, who sees it as a sad poor people place that she has no reason being at. Obviously her words hurt Anya but she's a bit too self centered to notice.

It also affects Damian surprisingly because when he was in the hospital, he met a lot of these kids. In Ostania, orphans get free health care, so parents who have sick kids abandon them and force the city to care for them. Doesn't always work, but it works frequently enough that it fills up orphanages. Ostanians really look down on illness so have a disabled kid is really stigmatized.

So, in BYLM, Damian was sick n the hospital for a long time. Hence, he met the orphans. But he in particular met a girl named Clara, but she goes by CiCi.

Donovan would only visit Damian in the early morning and late evening, while Demetrius would come in the afternoon after school. Melinda would stop by, but she'd normally sit in the waiting room or something before leaving. So, during the day, he didn't have anything to do, which is why they would send him by the orphanage kids. He gets to go to school and socialize and get out of the hospital for a few hours every day.

Another thing to note is that no one knows what Damian looks like. He was born at the peak of the war so Donovan heavily restricted any media coverage about his kids which meant no one really saw Damian save for a handful of times. The last time they saw him was after a "vacation" in Greece where he had long curly hair and a dark tan. He was also like 2 and a half. So now the gp just doesn't know what Damian Desmond would actually look like.

So when he shows up at the orphanage, nobody is able to clock him and they just think he's one of the other abandoned sick kids who stay at the hospital. And he doesn't correct them.

He ends up getting really close to Cici because she thinks he's also an orphan and they bond over life without parents. He lies about everything as much as he could, pretends to be poor and everything and everyone buys it.

Of course everyone finds out they get mad at him but then he makes a big donation and throws Cici a massive birthday party where she gets to be a princess for a day (it was a dream that she shared with him). Then he talks it out with her and she forgives him and now they're friends again.

Now no one at Eden knows what he had going on so they don't know he's cool with these people. So when Becky and them start acting all posh and judgemental it makes him pissed off. And he just let's in on her ass, tears he to shreds.

And that's how far I got.

She dislikes and hates him slightly due to his attitude and his initial comments about everyone, she doesn’t like stuck up people in general so she probably wouldn’t like him even if he didn’t say that stuff.

“What a jerk, totally not cool! Every talent deserves a spotlight. No matter how small, it breathes more passion into the world.”

I imagine he probably does not care and is like “why is this girl glaring at me”, very much a one-sided beef. Due to her talent being more on the academic side he probably respects it more than the others, he doesn’t really have a reason to dislike her especially since she keeps her hateful thoughts to herself.

Eva Tsunaka

She has complicated negative feelings toward Eva, she doesn’t like Eva due to her own inferiority issues, she thinks Eva is smart and pretty and is jealous of that. Other than that, she dislikes Eva due to the reason the group doesn’t like Eva in the game.

“That girl totally gets on my nerves! We get it, you can say big words and like to bring the mood down! I wish she’d just shut up!”

Eva would not care about her, she has bigger issues to worry about, plus what’s one more person that doesn’t like you?

Grace Madison

Grace reminds Fumiyo of her older sister, and it’s something she can take comfort in while she’s in this situation. Even if Grace isn’t the nicest, Fumiyo doesn’t mind, she just feels a sense of safety around her.

“Grace can get like really angry but I can tell she has a good heart. She’s just like my sister!”

Grace doesn’t really feel much towards Fumiyo, one less person annoying her makes Grace like her a little though. Fumiyo knows how to handle people like her.

Wolfgang Akire

Fumiyo is mostly neutral towards Wolfgang, but can’t help but not trust him entirely. Fumiyo hates sticklers and Wolfgang just happens to be one.

“I mean he’s like fine, but people should be free to do whatever they want, he’s too uptight!”

Wolfgang probably likes her as much as he likes the rest of the group, they don’t really know each other because they don’t approach each other. He may like her a little more because he seems to have a soft spot for the younger people in the group.

Toshiko Kayura

I can imagine them getting along fine, they’re the closest in age together so they’d probably trust each other more. Fumiyo likes Toshiko, she has a lot of deep conversations with her and takes her seriously.

“Toshiko is cool. I wish she’d slow down on the spelling bee words though, it’s a little hard to understand what she’s saying.”

Toshiko probably likes her because Fumiyo is close to her age and takes her seriously, but I don’t think she’d be very attached to Fumiyo immediately.

Eloise Taulner

Not much to say, I just think they’d get along.

“I like Eloise, she’s so soft-spoken but when you mention something she’s interested in she totally lights up! Fencing sounds cool!”

I can imagine Eloise viewing Fumiyo as a little sister in a way, I think Fumiyo would be someone she could learn confidence from.

Desmond Hall

You may have noticed at this point that Fumiyo doesn’t really prefer to keep men as friends, this is due to a lot of reasons that lead to her viewing men in a negative light. She trusts men a lot slower than she trusts women. Desmond happens to be one of the men she is beginning to trust. She feels comfortable around him.

“Desmond is cool. He’s always down to talk about whatever. He’s good company, and now I can ask him questions about weapons for my stories!”

Desmond just respects her like he respects everyone

Jean Delamer

Jean is someone Fumiyo trusts, she views him as a big brother in a way. She appreciates his willingness to lead the group even if Wolfgang is trying to as well.

“He’s so nice! I feel so safe around him, at least I know nobody will try anything while he’s around.”

Jean cares for her like he cares for his crew, he doesn’t like her as much as she likes him, but thats mostly because there’s not a lot of common ground between teenage girl and an adult man.

Diana Venicia

Fumiyo views Diana as one of her best friends, she’s close in age to her so she immediately felt a sense of kinship to her. They also have a common interest in makeup and fashion. There’s a slight infatuation because its mostly a little crush that’ll go away in a week.

“Diana is amazing! She’s like so talented, I’ve seen her work before, oh my god it’s so amazing! She’s so nice too, I can’t wait to teach her how to do gyaru styles.”

Diana seems to easily trust people and see the good in everything so I think Fumiyo would be an easy person for her to be friends with.

Kai Monteago

Fumiyo is probably the closest to being what Grace and Eva described as his target audience. Fumiyo does have a little bit of a celebrity crush on him (obviously that is never going to happen) she doesn’t have a good reason to like him as much as she doesn’t outside of that. She was probably a Kai defender in someone’s comment section at least once.

“OMG! I can’t believe it, I get kidnapped and then Kai Monteago is there! I’ve read stories like this! I’ve written stories like this. But it was One Direction instead of Kai.”

Kai in his FTEs states he doesn’t like to talk to his fans for more than two minutes, out of professionalism. So I can imagine he probably doesn’t like being stuck in a building with one of his fans. Him and her don’t talk much, because he knows she’s and a fan and she is too anxious to approach him so he’s mostly neutral towards her but does like her a little because she is one of his fans and he is in a situation where any sense of familiarity is probably gonna make you like someone.

Jett Dawson

Not much to say here, they don’t interact very often as there’s no common ground, though she dislikes him a little due to his loudness. She also subconsciously associates him with the gas that knocked them all out.

“Jett? He’s fine, he’s like really loud though.”

Jett seems like the kinda guy to just like everyone until he’s given a reason not to.

Mark Berskii

There’s like nothing here, at most she likes him because of his fashion sense.

“I need to know where he got that cute beanie from! What animal is it again? Alligator? Crocodile?”

He’s entirely neutral about her.

Cassidy Amber

They’re mostly just acquaintances, not much to talk about and they’re kinda different personality wise.

“I think she’s funny but she needs to chill a little, I mean I’m right in front of you, not in the other room! I wish I could pull off the tomboy style.”

Cassidy seems to be in the same boat as Jett, but even after being given a reason to not like someone, she seems to be willing to forgive ( with Eva)

Wenona

Wenona reminds Fumiyo of sticklers so she doesn’t like her. She also doesn’t like how condescending she is. But she is a little infatuated with her based on looks, she loves Wenona’s sense of style.

“I can’t help but sigh when she starts talking! She acts like she’s so high and mighty but she got kidnapped just like us, what’s her money gonna do to help her now?”

Wenona literally could not care less about Fumiyo.

Ingrid Grimwall

I can see them really getting along, especially seeing how Ingrid was taking care of Toshiko.

“I love Ingrid, she’s so kind and willing to see the bright side of things! She keeps telling me to unroll my skirt though, it’s for fashion!”

I can imagine she’d care for Fumiyo similar to the way she cares for Toshiko, but a little less because Fumiyo is older.

Ulysses Wilhelm

They don’t really interact much so they don’t really have a solid opinion on each other. Though Fumiyo doesn’t a slight disdain towards him due to her bias. He’s a man, but he’s also into history and she hates school, especially teachers.

“Ughh, so boring! I like his little glasses but he needs to get a new hobby, who cares about history! I always sleep through that class.”

Ulysses doesn’t have the memory or enough interaction to form an opinion on Fumiyo.

emphasizing that speaking is INCREDIBLY RARE for him, he does NOT have meltdowns often

“This is such bullshit,” Wally bites off, because it's not like he's not Wally, he's been Wally all this time, nobody could tell the fucking difference including Uncle Barry and his parents and Batman and his teachers and friends and him–except they're not, none of them are, the Flash is his uncle but he's not the Flash's nephew, he–he–

He’s not. He remembers them, but none of them remember . . . remember . . . 

It’s a different Wally West that they’re all remembering. A different Kid Flash. A different . . . 

They think he’s different. They think he’s not . . . 

He’s not Wally West to them. Not to any of them. 

He doesn’t–he doesn’t know what . . . what’s going to . . . what’s he’s going to . . . 

“We must only wait, my friend,” Kaldur says like they’re even actually friends at all, but Wally doesn’t know how to think of him as anyone else. He is Kaldur, same as–he remembers everything Kaldur remembers and he’s genetically identical to Kaldur and he’s actually technically probably more Kaldur because everything he did was something Kaldur would have, because he didn’t know the stupid difference! He’s Kaldur, just three months farther along. All he ever did was what Kaldur would’ve done. 

So he’s Kaldur. He’s more Kaldur than the real Kaldur. 

And literally no one else thinks that. No one else thinks that, and if Wally ever actually said that, they’d all think he was about to go fucking supervillain on them or something, which actually maybe would be justified, if only because supervillains get to do shit like burn down or explode or disintegrate entire fifty-three level labs and every single doctor who’s ever worked in them and also break into Belle Reve and personally vibrate Desmond’s larynx out of his fucking throat! 

It’d take longer to kill him than the heart would, and maybe Wally really is going to end up a supervillain. Maybe he’s a shitty person or he has mind control somewhere in his head that just hasn’t gotten triggered yet or– 

“I am actually very not-good at waiting, that’s kind of my whole thing is being bad at waiting, if you forgot,” Wally cuts his own thoughts off with, forcing his hands not to vibrate with speed–or Speed. “Or it’s Kid Flash’s whole thing, anyway, and my stupid ass didn’t know the difference.” 

The Flash kept looking at him like he was worried about what he was gonna do and his–and–and the Wests are gonna be so, like, upset and horrified and probably be upset with themselves, too, since it’s not like they tweaked he wasn’t really there–wasn’t their–wasn’t the same kid they’d been raising all his life, and Batman told Dick he was sorry, which–how often does Batman even do that, say he’s freakin’ sorry like that?! 

And–and the Wally who’s been in stasis on sublevel 53 for the past three months is gonna come get his life back and not know anything that’s happened or anything that’s going on, and–and–

And M’gann and Artemis are gonna be so freaked out. Like, Conner’s one thing, they came in knowing about Conner being a clone and he does, actually, look different from Superman, what with the whole “being half his physical age” thing, but them–they all look exactly like the guys whose lives they stole and maybe they do have freaky mind control in them, maybe they’re not safe to be around, maybe they’re creepy awful evil sleeper agents or–or– 

“And yet the necessity for the waiting remains,” Kaldur says gently, the total actual asshole who can only act like that ‘cuz he got cloned from the most chill and most responsible sixteen year-old who has ever walked the fucking earth, Wally is pretty sure, and he got made out of a socially-inept loser who literally no girl alive would ever look twice at and who can’t just slow down when he–! 

“Sure it does,” Dick says, then lets out a mean, bitter little laugh. It’s not a laugh Wally’s ever heard from him before. 

But he heard it when Dick told him about . . . told him about the circus, and Zucco, and . . . 

That’s not even something that actually happened to him. Not even something that happened to this Dick, which–actually, yeah, never mind, Wally will take the socially-inept loser who can’t slow down compared to remembering watching the Flying Graysons fall. Remembering watching that from their kid’s perspective, all the related thoughts and emotion and–and Dick remembers all that awful stuff, remembers losing his parents and his life and his whole world, and he doesn’t even get to feel anything about it anymore. 

He never even met the Graysons. Never lived with them or travelled with the circus; never performed in front of cheering crowds like he remembers loving, never knew any of those people, never actually felt all that rage and grief and helplessness. 

So no one’s going to think it counts, now that they know he’s not the Dick Grayson that actually did do all those things.

And now Dick’s actually lost his parents and his life and his whole world, because none of it them were ever his at all, and he remembers feeling that twice, and remembers exactly how awful it was the first time. Remembers what it did to him the first time. How it changed him, and what it made him, and . . . 

Yeah. Wally will take the socially-inept loser of a gene donor, actually. The socially-inept loser of a gene donor is looking pretty good right now.

I realise this probably never got the payoff it promises, but in terms of themes, this is fascinating from Tom Taylor in Nightwing #93 (2016).

Heartless threatens Blockbuster with his heart-removal device. Blockbuster. What’s one of the big Blockbuster plotlines from Dixon’s Nightwing? Blockbuster’s heart problems and heart transplant (from a sentient gorilla from Gorilla City).

But after bringing up the spectre of the previous heart transplant, Heartless (a villain all about removing hearts!) says that there’s no point. That nobody would miss Roland, because as far as we can see his mother, the driving force behind the transplant, isn’t here.

But then, at the end of the issue…HEARTLESS needs a heart transplant.

And he doesn’t have to go through the stress the Desmonds did to get a heart; he has an entire WALL of options.

It’s just really interesting in terms of themes, because we know TT has read and likes Dixon’s run. And here he is alluding to an old storyline but deliberately choosing not to repeat it.

It’s…hmmm. It gives a lot of fic storytelling potential. Because I hadn’t even lined up the overlapping factor in these two villains until that exact threat, and then it smacked me between the eyes and I went ohhhhhh. Oh that’s a clever reference.

Have an idea for a Professor Layton fic. (Based on my disappointment at Flora not being in the new trailer)

After being left behind again, Flora decides that enough is enough. She runs away from home and returns to Saint Mystere, the closest thing she’s ever had to a proper home.

Things have changed since she last left. Bruno had passed away, and there was nobody around to maintain the robots inhabiting the town. At least, that’s what Flora thought. She then notices that all the townspeople are still in top working order, even though they were without a mechanic for a long time.

She decides to investigate Bruno’s workshop, and she finds out that the town got a new mechanic. This mechanic is none other than Desmond Sycamore. Desmond, while searching for something to do with his life, settled down in Saint Mystere, found out about the robot secret, and realised the townspeople were breaking down without Bruno to fix them. He decided that he had nothing better to do and placed himself in the role of the town’s mechanic.

Flora and Desmond awkwardly bond over the course of the story as Desmond teaches her how to build machines. Flora learns that he’s Hershel’s brother, and she realises that there’s many things about the professor that she doesn’t know. When Desmond finds out she’s Hershel’s ward and the fact that she’s always being neglected, he grows protective of her and vows to rub it in Hershel’s face when he eventually looks for Flora.

All in all, it’d be a nice story about Desmond reliving what it’s like to have a daughter again, and Flora experiencing what it’s like to have a present father in her life.

Do y'all think that nobody told Anna that Desmond was going to die soon? Like... it seems like everyone (except Captain Silvier) knows about it. Anna doesn't seem like she's aware of Desmond's "last wish" either, which will make his death even more heartbreaking. Anna basically has to sit by and do nothing while her adoptive father, the only person she has left, is bound to die and she's unaware of it. She's a true damsel in distress. Like... if she doesn't pull and Elsa move and blast the of the ones who will kill Desmond with ice powers, then I will riot /j

Out of work and trying to provide for himself and his daughter, Desmond Anadem is offered something by his former employer: a chance at his old job back.

All he has to do is complete their training using a VR training system.

Even though they sent an off-the-shelf headset as a sign of good will, can he trust that even for a second that he will be safe?

Desmond Anadem was currently re-evaluating his life choices.

After getting fired, and then fired upon, he thought that Fazbear Entertainment was finally done with him. But they weren't.

After the Raid on the megaplex, which he took part in whilst his daughter decided upon staying outside as a sentry - something that definitely had something to do with what she did prior to the 'Breach' - to monitor what went in and out, he thought that Faz Ent would finally give up the goat.

But instead they sent him an off-the-shelf VR headset that was still in it's packaging, a pair of controllers that were also off-the-shelf, and a copy of their VR training system (it was not the VR environment of which his daughter had spoken of; this was a peice of software that had been made in a game engine that was not owned by Faz Ent, and was just a game used to train up new human staff).

It felt like an awfully grand gesture of trust building, to send him a VR system that had not been touched by Faz Ent. Likely because they knew that he knew what happened to many others who used Faz Ent proprietary headsets, and the VR environment that they had been stuck in.

But Sylvia's sister was using a non-Faz brand VR setup when William posessed her. They'd had time to talk about it during the Raid: he had known that Ness was posessed, but during the Raid, Sylvia and Ness had explained the how behind what happened. Desmond did not disclose his involvement in tampering with the arcades to make freeing Ness easier; nobody had deciphered his sigils yet, so nobody needed to know.

Turning his attention back to the letter, all it told him that he was just going to use the training program and nothing more. The only Faz-touched tech was the game itself.

The box also had a letter. It read that they planned to re-hire him at a better salary, but he'd need to re-complete his certifications, as they had been voided when he had been fired.

'Blaming me for you fucks trying to shoot me again, I see.'

Yet despite that, he didn't seem to be able to refuse the offer. Faz Ent knew where he lived, and until the police got around the red tape of securing him a job and accomodation far away from here, he'd need to play safe.

When he told Cassie about it, she agreed. This was the safest bet.

Get the certifications back, see where things went from there.

After completing what he thought were all the minigames, he grabbed the in-game faz-wrench and opened the secret door, deactivated the inhibitor, and noticed a poster.

'Remove your mask?' Desmond thought to himself, 'Faz Ent kept trying to introduce these masks, but we just kept on using the eyepieces instead because those masks gave me and everyone else the creeps. Here goes.'

He reached his hand to his head, hearing the controller clack against the VR headset he was wearing, and removed a mask from the player avatar's face.

The room around him looked as abandoned and decayed as the megaplex did after the raid.

He returned to the computer monitor, and he noticed something that wasn't there before; they had hard modes.

'Expecting more out of me than before I see…' he grumbled as he begun the second gauntlet, and as he did, something irked him.

The animatronics that appeared in these new minigames also looked somewhat as they did during and after the Raid. Expected. The Daycare Attendant was a destroyed mess after the second fire in Roxy Raceway destabilised most of the megaplex and so was the DJ, and this game reflected it. The memory of seeing the DJ so beat up during the Raid haunted him, as did the sight of the miserable sun he saw that night. The fact that they had only gotten worse after the Raid made him feel sympathy for them for the first time. And after the so-called earthquake that Desmond was sure was an explosion the other day caved in parts of the megaplex further, he found himself worrying for the mental states of those robots for the first time too. Also, he was certain that Fazbear Entertainment only wanted him back so they could repair thier severely damaged bots. Maybe they made this game to specifically train him for that.

If he got near those robots again, the first thing he'd probably do would be to talk to them and see how human they are. A thought that would have been foreign to him three weeks ago.

Once he'd completed the rest of the minigames and re-earned the most useless certifications to ever exist, he found himself surrounded by staffbots that had appeared out of nowhere - a recreation of what Faz Ent wanted to happen to him and his colleagues no doubt - and after the staffbots attacked, the screen turned to static.

He tried to remove his headset, but he couldn't.

He called out for his daughter, but received no reply.

He stepped about in his panic and tripped over a cable, so he was definitely still alive. And when the static cleared as he crawled to his feet, he saw a staffbot's start up screen.

'What in the…'

And once it finished loading, he found himself seeing through the visual feed of a staffbot.

And then he saw his daughter.

He tried calling out to her, but she didn't seem to hear. The bot didn't output his audio input.

He tried to reach out to her, and the staffbot he was viewing the world through reached out.

And handed her that mask that only he and his daughter's sleeper side had seen. The Vanny mask; the mask that William had made to control Sylvia's sister. The mask that Sleeper had stolen before it had been used, and then lost after she saved Gregory and caused the Breach.

The mask that Fazbear Entertainment had tried to model technician masks after.

His daughter's Civilian alter, Civ, was currently fronting; he could tell from her eyes. She had never seen the mask before.

He tried to call for her to stop and put the mask down, but again, the staffbot didn't output his audio input.

He felt himself collapse to his knees as he watched Cassie put on the mask. And as she did, the staffbot shut down.

He could remove his VR headset again.

He threw the thing off with such force that it skidded to the other side of his apartment, landing under the shelf that held his father's retro Bonnie mask. He didn't care if the VR headset was broken or not.

Sweating, shaking, and disoriented, Desmond took a moment to breathe before clambering to his feet and calling for his daughter.

He didn't get a response.

Whilst he had been training, Cassie had gone off somewhere. And if that was really her who he had witnessed through the eyes of the staffbot, she was at a Fazbear Entertainment controlled facility. Though there was no way of telling which one.

Any Faz Ent facility could have staffbots. The mask could have been taken anywhere.

Cassie could be anywhere.

So he put on his work boots and ran outside.

Someone had to have seen his daughter, right?
