The Wayward Guide to Sleepy Hollow: Chapter 2

“What can I do for you?” Matilda asked again. “Need a spell? Poultice? Tarot card reading?”

A shudder seized Paul, and he instinctively covered his face. “NO! Bad cards!”

Matilda stared at him, doing a double-take. Tilting her head as if trying to puzzle him out. “Huh… Bad experience with tarot?”

“You could say that,” Artemis muttered.

“Hm.” She seemed to come to a conclusion about Paul, then switched back to customer mode. “Well, while I think I could change your mind, I won’t push.” She pulled out something from under the counter. “What about crystals? We’re having a sale.” She spread a set of multicolored crystals out in front of them.

“Actually, we’re here for information,” Artemis said, taking out her recorder. “Artemis Schue-Horyn, this is my brother, Paul.”

Paul straightened up, trying to look professional. “We’re podcasters.”

Artemis gave him a side-eye. “Investigative journalists... who publish our work as podcasters, yes.”

Matilda’s customer-ready smile dimmed. “And you’re here for?”

Artemis clicked the RECORD button. “A few months ago, Devlyn Versace, a Platinum-level Youtube influencer and professional prankster, dies in a horrific – and public—skydiving  accident.”

Paul cut in dramatically with, “One week later, she shows up on livestream here in Sleepy Hollow – and creates a killer viral remix video – all in one day, only to vanish.” Paul simulated a “poof!” with his hands.

“Yet what remains of her body – sans head – is still in her grave, on the other side of the state.”

“Some said it was her final prank! But we think something stranger might have happened.”

Artemis held the recorder closer to Matilda. “Thoughts?”

Matilda glowered. “What, you think just because I’m a witch I had something to do with it? Very original.”

“No!” Paul stepped in, taking on the personal relations role, as always. “No, we only wanted your expertise. You’re a local, you know magic. If something weird did happen, we figured you might have heard something. But we understand your concern.”

“Although, if you weren’t involved,” Artemis asked, eye brow raised, “then how come we saw you in the livestream?”

In Spies Are Forever, Owen is left-handed but the DMA is right-handed. This is just because Joe Walker is right-handed, but if you ✨️think about the implications✨️ Owen has trained himself out of left-handedness (as was common in that time period) to add another layer to the mask that is the DMA. He really is a separate character. It makes me think that with Curt, Owen was able to be himself, to freely show his left-handedness without fear of judgement, because he trusted Curt more than anyone else in his life. It's one of their shared secrets, a symbol of their trust and devotion. As the DMA, he plays a character whose first instinct is to draw his gun with his right hand. But when the mask is taken away, when Owen is left alone with Curt... he uses his left hand again. But this time, it's because he's fully subscribed to Chimera's philosophy of having no secrets, so that he can’t be hurt by them again. never talks (obviously), but communicates through stimming and drawing!!! for example: pointing to a drawing she made of a thing she enjoys, excitedly stimming and squealing and flapping his hands

is in love with rita. um. this came from nowhere i just like the idea of it let me have this

desmond is one of the only people who's spoken to crispin before she stopped speaking!

crispin was always pretty quiet even before the whole not speaking thing. she just thought talking was stupid and kind of annoying and he never really spoke anyways so why not just stop? and then she did. only ever says ANYTHING in moments of extreme distress, mostly meltdowns. if he does speak, they're just simple one or two word phrases that either express the distress he's feeling or the problem causing said distress. if she was having a meltdown over an uncomfortable shirt she was wearing, for example, it would either be cursing or a word/phrase based on the problem ("itchy," "shirt," "itchy shirt," "feels bad," etc.)

emphasizing that speaking is INCREDIBLY RARE for him, he does NOT have meltdowns often

knows some basic sign language. chooses not to use it because she literally just doesn't want to talk to people

So do talking dogs, since Charlie from SAF was in SISBIB. Dogs that are intelligent enough to speak and understand their words must be sapient, right? They're definitely not like parrots, just repeating words without comprehension, because they could hold conversations with humans in SIS. So, think about those implications. Sapient beings who are locked in cages, collared and muzzled, forced to serve humanity. I hope I'm not the only one horrified by that. And I know that SIS is a parody of Scooby-doo, but it clearly exists in the same universe as WGFTUE and SAF. Are the talking dogs related to werewolves in some way? Maybe talking dogs are descended from werewolves who met under the full moon?

And Chimera Worldwide. Do they know about the existence of the supernatural? They must, right? Connor Creek is so small and insignificant that it may have skipped their notice... until two twins made a popular podcast about it that is sure to have caught their eye. How many werewolves in Connor Creek are affected by this after Chimera finds out about them? An organisation that runs on blackmail and manipulation is sure to have a use for werewolves. And Connor Creek's discovery about trace amounts of silver could be very useful to Chimera. Imagine what Chimera could do with werewolves who can choose when to transform.

Think about the implications.

the implications of chimera existing in wayward guide are terrifying to me, but also extremely absurd because werewolves canonically exist in the saf universe and that’s kinda hilarious
