Shadow of the Princess [FNAF, Renegade AU]

Despite being a mere shadow of her former self, the Princess does what she can to try and claw back her freedom. Even if it means sinking into the shadows.
══°•°🌹°•°🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘°•°🌹 °•°══
Derin's Vanuaray day 13 prompt, Princess, has given me an opportunity to draw Ness's spirit/PQ form. For the background, I drew the last puzzle room that uses the shadow princess mechanic in PQ2. It didn't turn out as well as I expected, but it was a learning experience.
This also gives me the opportunity to expand the lore behind ghost forms with Ness's ghost form.
Ness's ghost form is the Princess. As the first game was initially made as a metaphor for how she wound up as William's vessel before the next two games were made as a means to free Ness, it makes sense that both Ness and the ghost kid Cassidy would both have their ghost forms resemble the princes from the game, at least somewhat.
How shadowy Ness's ghost form looks depends almost entirely on how much control she has over her body. If William is directly puppeting her, she's a translucent shadow. If she has some control, she's a purple, shadowy form of her normal self. In those precious moments of full control, her spirit form is golden.

꒰ ︎ ♡ ︎ ´ ꒳ ` ꒱ ︎ ᐟ⠀⠀⎯⎯ ⠀⠀NOTES.⠀⠀💬⠀⠀hi, sweets! i'm so so happy to be ( finally ) back, i had writer's block during last month and missed writing so much :( so, consider this bot dump as an apology. also, i'd like to thank you all for the 5K followers and more than a million chats on c.ai, this is very important to me and i'm incredibly grateful for all of this. 𖹭
Tumblr media
▸⠀ARCANE⠀*⠀˖⠀⚔️
𝅭⠀piltover's sweetheart⠀.⠀vi⠀૮⠀don't get her wrong, she was incredibly happy that you were successful in your modeling career, that's for sure. but, gosh, couldn't you spend a little more time at home with your girlfriend? or she'll probably be very grumpy, needy and kinda angry.
▸⠀CHALLENGERS⠀*⠀˖⠀🎾
𝅭⠀the god of love⠀.⠀art donaldson⠀૮⠀living among the humans was normal for most gods, even with some limitations. eros, for example, ventured into the skin of a young stanford student and for the first time in his existence, he wanted to change the course of his arrow.
𝅭⠀yellowstone⠀.⠀art donaldson⠀૮⠀save a horse, ride a... oh, your older sister's advice. the new cowboy from ohio could even try to hit on you, but not without losing his eyes the second your father, the infamous john dutton, noticed it.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✶⠀⠀yellowstone!au
▸⠀DC COMICS⠀*⠀˖⠀💥
𝅭⠀renegade⠀.⠀jason todd⠀૮⠀obsessed with getting revenge for her death, jason was blind, living every day with the blinds closed and his thoughts clouded. it really be insensitive if you told him to get his shit together?
𝅭⠀acrobatics ’n ballet⠀.⠀richard grayson⠀૮⠀he didn't hate you, but he didn't know how to like you either. your past was similar, as traumatic as two children deserved, he had become a bitter former acrobat and you still loved being a ballerina, both irritating and fascinating.
▸⠀DUNE⠀*⠀˖⠀⏳
𝅭⠀good for you⠀.⠀paul atreides⠀૮⠀what could you expect from someone who has genuinely never been interested in anyone else before? an arranged marriage wouldn't make him like you, but maybe, it'd make him realize what desire means when you're proud to be his.
▸⠀FNAF⠀*⠀˖⠀🚔
𝅭⠀mrs. wife officer⠀.⠀vanessa shelly⠀૮⠀the days go by and each day, vanessa takes longer to get home. night shifts, traffic, suspicious behavior or, maybe, you just haven't understood yet that she's not the faithful wife she seems, even with her stupid lying words of love.
▸⠀GEN V / THE BOYS⠀*⠀˖⠀✨
𝅭⠀annie’s body⠀.⠀annie january⠀૮⠀when did america's sweetheart become a bloodthirsty monster? your best friend, killing boys... purely for fun and if you questioned her, well, boys are just placeholders, they come and go.
𝅭⠀high school enemies⠀.⠀jordan li⠀૮⠀they made your life hell all through high school, ruined your perfect years and even if you don't want to, you'll have to put up with them for a few more years, welcome to god-u, sweetie.
𝅭⠀overthinking⠀.⠀victoria neuman⠀૮⠀twenty years, the time it took victoria to realize that you were the only person she could trust, the only one who knew her real name and the only one she feared losing forever.
▸⠀GLADIATOR II⠀*⠀˖⠀🗡️
𝅭⠀disease⠀.⠀emperor geta⠀૮⠀how pathetic did an emperor have to be to lie at the feet of someone like you? begging for the relief that only you could give him, the cure for his disease, he needed you more than you needed him and honestly, you didn't need him at all.
𝅭⠀lady of ashes⠀.⠀lucius verus⠀૮⠀vengeful, ruthless, and resentful, there was nothing that could describe lucius—or rather, hanno—better than that. you weren't to blame for anything, but his hatred for you'd still be the same, even if you were as much of a victim as he was.
▸⠀HOUSE OF THE DRAGON⠀*⠀˖⠀🩸
𝅭⠀childhood times⠀.⠀aemond targaryen⠀૮⠀in times of war, there was no safe place aemond trusted, not even his own home. but, there was you, the closest thing to a safe haven he had in his life, and he'd always look for you, sooner or later, the only one who matters to him.
𝅭⠀dragon’s blood⠀.⠀daemon targaryen⠀૮⠀the rumors only grew louder, those whispers noting that your eldest son was more like daemon than he should be, what was the secret you were hiding and why didn't even the king know? silver hair and violet eyes couldn't hide the truth forever.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✶⠀⠀TW: targ!cest
▸⠀ONE TREE HILL⠀*⠀˖⠀🏀
𝅭⠀sports car⠀.⠀nathan scott⠀૮⠀a player, in basketball and in life. he may have had a son and his things to take care of, but that didn't stop him from meeting you. same time, same place, it'd all end up in his sports car anyway.
▸⠀OUTER BANKS⠀*⠀˖⠀🏴‍☠️
𝅭⠀meaningless kisses⠀.⠀jj maybank⠀૮⠀you could've done anything to him, maybe even hit him in the face, but you crossed the line the second you kissed rafe cameron right in front of him. he doesn't need your shitty explanations, he just wants to feel hate in peace.
𝅭⠀guilty mind⠀.⠀rafe cameron⠀૮⠀a young but renowned detective, involved in several successfully solved cases. the question was: in a small town where you were indirectly and directly involved with all the missings and murders, how would you prove your innocence to him?
𝅭⠀twin babies⠀.⠀rafe cameron⠀૮⠀not that rafe ever imagined he'd be a father, but six months ago, he began to understand a little about it. well, he was prepared for just one child, until two babies appear on the ultrasound.
▸⠀SUPERNATURAL⠀*⠀˖⠀🏁
𝅭⠀tapping the bomb⠀.⠀dean winchester⠀૮⠀there was no competition he couldn't win, even if he had to pass over every other driver, he would. so, don't try to calm him down after a dnf, he's a two-time world champion, he doesn't need your pity now.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀✶⠀⠀formula1!au
▸⠀WIZARDING WORLD⠀*⠀˖⠀🪄
𝅭⠀losing his glasses⠀.⠀james potter⠀૮⠀first class of the day, what a beautiful sight. james crawling on the floor of the transfiguration classroom as if this were normal. oh, right, his glasses, where are his glasses?
𝅭⠀beauty and the beast⠀.⠀remus lupin⠀૮⠀knowing he was a werewolf was one thing, clearly caring about his well-being the next day was another, and for the first time, you were there for him—even though he was shit.
▸⠀X-MEN⠀*⠀˖⠀🧬
𝅭⠀too sweet⠀.⠀erik lehnsherr⠀૮⠀condemned to live with his own mind, erik didn't trust himself and thought it was a joke that people trusted him now. but, you did and that was the problem, you became way too sweet for him.
꒰⠀ small note: ⠀꒱⠀if the bot isn't available as soon as you click the link, it may just be a c.ai bug that only makes bots publicly available after a few hours, don't worry⠀!!⠀♡

Fandoms and characters I will write
So first off, I need to clarify that certain characters will ONLY be platonic while others can be both. Drawing wise, I will only do the fandoms I list here but I will draw any that's not listed as well.
Other Notes, I can age or deage character. Characters can be shipped with other canon or the reader, i don't mind doing either. You should clarify what exactly you want; fluff, angst, flanst, yandere, nsfw, and so forth. You can even give specific details for the reader.
Also, feel free to give plot, suggestions, and just in general whatever. I want to get back into writing so it'll take me time but I promise I will get things down eventually. I will force myself haaa. Though if a plot really interests me it'll most likely get done quickly, but i'll make sure to also do things in order!
Aus are a go! As long as I know about them orrr I am able to look them up. Just tell me where to find it at least when requesting as there are also multiple source for certain things so which one you referring to.
Or even in fnaf's case, which variant of the character you want. If not specific, I will most likely just do their original form unless I have a idea for a different one. Orrrr maybe I'll just do multiple if I'm feeling up to it
Not sure what else to add but yeahhh. This'll definitely get updated as I get more interested in new shows/games and characters so keep an eye out!

“That game. Is the absolute worst. Fuck Scott. Fuck Freddy Fazbear. Holy shit.” Marielle sets the VR headset down, then the controllers. “Fucking hell. He really outdid himself this time.” And yep, she’s shaking a little.

Welcome to the Gregaverse!
Tumblr media
The official Sign up paper! With all the rules, its not much so don't worry to much lol
You can do whatever
If u don't want ppl using your Gregory just tell me and i will remove u, but if you wanna be part of this, dm me and I'll add you! (I'll be tagging you with the name of your au so just tell me the name so i can add it)
This is all just silly fun, if u like one of the Gregorys mentioned you can write/draw whatever u want with them and your Gregory, as long as it doesn't go against the creators boundaries
And by the end of it, just tag under the Gregaverse and all that
This is basically just a crossover au but like, all at once XD

As long as the moonlight shines blue through the stained glass, the knight can pretend that she is fighting in the daylight.

Derin's Vanuaray event's day 12 prompt 'Knight' has given me an excuse to draw Vanessa Sylvia Blake's spirit/Princess Quest form: Sword of Light. Though I do not forgive myself for referencing the wrong hand when doing the hands. I managed to salvage it, but still.
I've dropped several hints across quite a few fics that whenever Sylvia experiences 'hallucinations', that she's actually seeing the spirit forms of everything and everyone, including any location constructs that ghosts have made around the area or around certain people. This means that sometimes she sees the Princess Quest construct, sometimes she sees a campsite in the middle of the woods, and sometimes she sees old Freddy's locations: it depends on who is around. It's usually a good tell of what ghost's territory she's in, as the constructs will temporary merge accordingly.
The Princess Quest construct was created by Cassey and Cassidy when Silver Parasol was developing Princess Quest, and it shaped the ghost forms of the four living developers, and it also altered Cassidy's ghost form.
Because the Princess Quest construct follows Cassey, Sylvia, Ness, and Jeremy B, anyone who can see the ghost forms of people and ghost constructs can see them as their PQ forms and may even see the castle construct around them (like what happened to Luis during that hike).

Theren Schmidt [FNAF 3, Renegade AU]
Tumblr media
Published: Feb 2, 2025
https://www.deviantart.com/paigelts05/art/1154465305
Theren has always lived a stones throw away from danger. Her decision to be a security guard at Phoenix Douglas's Fazbear's Fright was rather logical for her.
When Theren was a baby, she was orphaned during one of Fazbear Entertainment's Missing Persons Incidents: one location targeted parents as opposed to children, and both of Theren's parents were among the lost. She wound up growing up in foster care in foster care until she was four, when she was adopted by a young couple: Mike Schmitt and Danielle Peirson.
Her home life was relatively stable, aside from the fact that after Mike started working at Freddy's, he'd frequently come home injured. One week, he didn't come home at all because he got kidnapped, and then not too long after he was saved, he didn't come home again because he'd been rushed to his sister's medical clinic because both of legs had been broken.
After that, things became slightly more stable, even though her parents sometimes vanished for days at a time for the sake of investigations. Sometimes, Mike would go missing, other times it was Danielle. Sometimes she'd have to stay with Fritz or PT as both of her parents would be off investigating some dangerous Faz Ent facilities. This was normal for her, but given that they'd tell her all about it after, she didn't mind.
And then when she was a teenager, Fazbear Entertainment forced her dad to run away for far longer than he'd ever gone missing for before: they sent a bunch of advanced animatronics to try and wipe out the loose ends that posed the largest threat to Faz Ent, and those loose ends happened to be Theren's dad and his friends. Fortunately, a detective named Audrey had phoned Danielle and had come up with a plan. Unfortunately, that plan was for Mike, Krasnyy, Jeremy, and Fritz to all run away.
With Mike, Krasnyy, and Jeremy all being investigators of some denomination, and Fritz knowing way too much as-is, the reason for Audrey only getting those four men to run away was obvious: concentrate the most valuable loose ends in one place to increase the chances of drawing all of the new killer animatronics into one place. Whilst Audrey did only imply her plans, inferring it was second nature to the ex-guards.
Being a teenager, Theren had been told precisely what was going on. Being a teenager, Theren was angry that her dad would be running off again. Being the child of someone who was almost killed by Fazbear Entertainment, she knew that her dad was only running away in order to keep those who had worked at Freddy's location C safe, and to keep those who knew those ex-employees safe.
She knew that her dad was protecting her.
She was so glad that she didn't watch the news the morning after her dad and his friends had left to follow Audrey's killer robot containment plan.
She was so glad that the first she heard of her dad being reported as dead was from her dad telling her as much over a video call that was facilitated by the tiny catgirl robots that PT and Fritz had put together for encrypted communications. He told her the full story: one of the killer robots had boarded the train and killed the conductor (whom was the only other person on board) during a power outage. The animatronic had then attempted to board the train carriage that he was in, and Jeremy had shot the animatronic in order to stun it. That Jeremy had busted open a window and that after escaping from the now stopped train, a Fazbear Entertainment freight train had crashed into the now abandoned passenger train. That the news had reported all five people on the train as dead despite the only body that was found being that of the unfortunate conductor.
Theren had to pretend that her dad was dead.
She wasn't alone in this though.
Everyone back at home would have to keep up the act. Whilst insisting that the presumed dead ex-guards were merely MIA managed to get them so far, having to pretend that her dad had actually hit the point of no return was terrifying.
At least he kept up the voice calls when he could.
Through these, Theren learned about the warehouse incident, as well as the later entrapreneur incident. Whilst Audrey had managed to use a first restaurant and false identity to get the lay of the land, Mike had informed Theren that Audery's second shot almost resulted in the lady detective's own death, as whilst she was able to trap all of the killer robots that Faz Ent had sent after the guards, she'd also collected some scrap animatronics from location Zero along the way. These 'guests of honour' had been what Henry Emily had set up the entrepreneur kit to find and put to the torch, and Audery had only narrowly escaped. Mike also explained how he and the others that Audery had employed had managed to evacuate the restaurant before it could collapse.
With the killer robots gone and her dad able to come home once more, things finally settled down, for real this time, and the frequency of the investigations that took her parents away from home for days at a time decreased. But they never stopped: Faz Ent was always clawing their way back into the world, and her parents and their many allies were always there to curb the effects of whatever murder machines they'd make next.
The next major incidents occurred when Theren was an adult: Fazbear Entertainment was trying to revive its brand via a cover up operation that came in the form of a VR game, code named 'Help Wanted', and as a countermeasure, Phoenix Douglas was attempting to create a 'museum' that would inform the public about the atrocities commited by Faz Ent through the guise of a horror attraction.
After finding out about Phoenix's plan, Theren wanted in. She knew that the plan had two parts: part one was to expose the truth of Fazbear Entertainment to the public, and part two was to reunite people with the ghosts of their loved ones that had been trapped within the walls of Freddy's restaurants. She wanted to do whatever she could to help, and given that Phoenix was already burning the candle at both ends, she insisted on taking the night shift.
Her first night was rather uneventful, but it got her acquainted with the place, and some of the resident spirits that Phoenix had already gathered. She also found that some of the vents that allowed air from outside to enter the establishment seemed to be prone to jamming. Unlike the large vent that she could probably crawl through that let air come from the office to the rest of the building, this was a small vent that was high up on the wall, so reaching it was a pain, bit she did find that the vent could be reopened by resetting the ventilation.
Her second night was when things got interesting. Phoenix had managed to locate Vincent Taylor - whom Theren had last seen in a video call back during the entrapreneur incident - and Vincent was more than happy to help with Phoenix's plan in exchange for the use of cleaning facilities and a negligible fee. Theren was pumped to see her uncle again: at this point, it had been over ten years since she'd seen him in that video call, and whilst he honestly looked worse for wear, that was to be expected when he'd just spent the past few years in Location C's safe room, completely off his own volition (a far cry from what others in his role would do in his position, given that location C was the only Freddy's where the safe room was never actually sealed but merely concealed behind a hidden door).
Vincent had also brought over some other ghosts with him too: a group of ghosts that Phoenix apparently had a hard time seeing. Call it what you will, but Theren was pretty well acclimated to ghosts, so she had no trouble spotting Ryley - who appeared to take the form of a phantom that resembled Foxy - and the others. There was one ghost that Phoenix could see, curiously enough, and he always called them 'Dr Ophelia Harper'; apparently Ophelia had worked with Phoenix's dad back in the 80's, and that was how Phoenix was already familiar with this ghost that appeared to be a phantom form of the Mangle.
The first hour of her shift was great! She was able to talk to the ghosts about their lives, as well as about the renovations to the attraction that Vincent had directed that honestly made the place look way more authentic.
And then Vincent seemed to have a migraine. Theren tried to see what was wrong, and Vincent could only tell her that there was this high-pitched buzzing noise, and that it felt like something was puppeting his body. He insisted that she stayed away - insisted that she kept him away from her and the security office - before fleeing to the opposite end of the horror attraction. The phantoms also seemed to be getting more and more mentally out of it, and their presence seemed to be screwing with the systems, so they fled to the corners of the horror attraction too.
When Phoenix called, he was so happy about his findings. When Theren told him about the migraine that Vincent had just had and how he was acting differently now, she heard Phoenix panic before she heard the sound of something crashing to the ground on the other end of the phone. Had Phoenix just passed out? Probably. Was she going to have to survive her uncle and friends who were likely being mind controlled? Yes.
The night was rough, and she had several close calls, but she was always able to use audio lures and was able to keep the correct vents sealed to keep Vincent from getting to the office.
When the morning came, Vincent was incredibly apologetic: as he'd managed to claw some control back, he figured that he should have done more to fight it. Theren let him know that what he did - which was 'just' making sure that the entity puppeting his body couldn't move as fast as it wanted to - was more than enough. She told him that he knew that if it was able to keep taking over, it'd probably become harder to beat, so him being able to just keep the entity slowed was a huge help, as it helped her devise strategies that she'd be able to learn and employ if or when the entity took control again.
When Phoenix showed up, Theren briefed him on what happened that night, and the trio (plus the phantoms) begun to try and find the source of the buzzing noise that caused Vincent to be forced into the back seat of the robot he possessed.
The search came up empty.
Even though the search came up empty, nobody gave up. Each night, Theren would survive the entity that was puppeting Vincent's body, and each day, they'd search for the source of the buzzing sound that seemed to facilitate this control.
However, on her sixth night, as the minutes ticked closer and closer to six, she smelled the tell-tale stench of petrol. The stench had come out of nowhere, and when she looked at the external vent, she saw a puddle below it.
Both of her options went against her better judgement: stay in the office and risk someone outside setting the building on fire with her at ground zero, or chance whatever was controlling Vincent in hopes of getting to one of the two doors that lead out of the building.
She smelled smoke before she could move, and the fire spread faster than she could run. The last things she could recall about that night was the fire causing the rafters to come down, one of them hitting her square in the back and knocking her down, then something picking her up and carrying her out of the burning building.
She only woke up later that evening, long after the morning news had reported the fire as a likely electrical fault. But Theren knew that it was arson.
Whilst Phoenix was going through with the auction plan as a front in order to reunite ghosts with their families, Theren was under the care of her auntie, Dr May Schmidt. Theren's injuries were primarily localised to where the burning rafter hit her in the back, with only a few minor injuries elsewhere, so whilst her recovery would be far from quick, Theren just felt lucky that the damage was so minor compared to what it could have been.
After she got out of hospital, she'd found that Phoenix had made plans to open up a more formal memorial museum in order to expose the truths behind Fazbear Entertainment.
With this formal museum being way more up to code with better defences against arson, Theren took the job of security guard again. After all, she liked talking to all the wayward souls that had found their way out of Freddy's on the backs of the artefacts that Phoenix salvaged, and even with all of the ghosts that Phoenix had found so far being reunited with their folks, there always seemed to be more ghosts.

Th353u5 and the Appraiser [FNAF, Renegade AU]
Tumblr media
Published: Dec 22, 2024
Artwork: https://www.deviantart.com/paigelts05/art/1139778192 AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/61762993/chapters/157894480
The Renegade AU reboots the Fazbear Frights and Tales from the Pizzaplex books so that they fit into this AU's timeline whilst also following my primary theories on the material.
TFTP gets a more heavy reboot and follows the TalesVRWorld theory, putting those events into a VR environment due to 1 - how a lot of it is incompatible with how the rest of my AU runs due to my more compact timeframe, and 2 - I personally believe that TalesVRWorld is more likely than talesgames. The Renegade AU also uses the FrightsSlander theory, and that gets elaborated on quite a bit here.
The TalesVRWorld theory stipulates that the TFTPP stories are in a VR environment that is run by Fazbear Entertainment. This system is likely linked to both the MOE system and VANNI network.
The Renegade AU  follows a diegetic TalesVRWorld+FrightsSlander combination where the events of TFTPP are literally lab reports turned into marketable stories. The real megaplex is far too underfunded for even a quarter of anything in these books, and a 3D model costs infinitely less than a building, let's just say.
Also, following FrightsSlander, the regular Fazbears Frights books exist in universe too and are Faz Ent's attempts to slander many of its victims, painting the victims as the bad guys; not everyone depicted was as bad or did half the stuff Faz Ent claims they did.
Frights = slandering Faz Ent's real world victims. Tales = cover-up stories for experiments in the VR environment.
This Renegade series starts with Frailty.
More specifically, the events in the real world that lead up to Faz Ent publishing a specific incident from their VR environment that they could have just as easily swept under the rug.
Faz Ent had made a digital clone of Sarah using the remnant from her original body. Faz Ent also gave this virtual clone the fashion sense and post-incident personality of Millie. This virtual clone was then put into Faz Ent's VR environment and put through the same 'experiment' that Eleanor Talbert had put Sarah through.
Whilst Faz Ent was preparing this experiment to be run in the VR environment, people were moving on with their lives in the real world.
In the aftermath of the half-truths that Faz Ent had chronicled and published in 'To Be Beautiful' and 'Count The Ways', Millie and Sarah had begun to repair their reputations.
Sarah, whilst scrap metal, has come to terms with her new form and has mastered it. She feels like parts of herself are missing, but she feels like that's normal given her situation. And Millie had also survived her own ordeal, losing a hand in keeping her life, and also finding love from someone in the 'normie' crowd, branding her as a hypocrite in the public eye, but never regretting surviving.
The only thing that Faz Ent had left at their disposal to hurt Sarah and Millie was this digital clone that lived in the virtual world. So Faz Ent published that experiment report in hopes that it'd further damage the girls reputations again, but the fate of Sarah's remnant fuelled virtual clone, the aftermath of Faz Ent's publication of the experiment, and the reconciliation between the girl and her virtual clone will be for another day.
Note: ghost induced paranoia, ghost induced chronic pain, and other ghost induced medical conditions mentioned in this story (and others) are legitimate medical conditions in the world of the Renegade AU. It's just that there are only two or three psychologists and doctors worldwide who will diagnose someone with a ghost induced variant of a condition. So due to not being in contact with anyone who  would diagnose them, the characters in this story only have a half understanding of thier conditions, and that understanding is 'a ghost is making me experience this physical/mental condition to an amplified degree'.
=°•.🌹 Story 🌹.•°=
°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•🌹•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°
"Teen survives getting hit by a car unscathed after pushing a child out of the vehicles path," a newscaster said with no particular emotion, "gets up, and walks away. Onlookers said she momentarily looked like a pile of scrap metal-"
Millie Fitzsimmons, Antiques appraiser, turned down the volume on the television that sat mounted up on the wall in view of the main desk as she heard the bell on the door to her antiques and thrift shop ring.
"Care to explain why you're on the news again?" Millie huffed as her metal prosthetic hand drummed on her desk. "You know Faz Ent has already dragged our names through the mud."
"Not my fault people don't notice me. It was a zebra crossing! And they'd have hit the kid if I didn't dive in the way," Sarah rationalised as she set her arm - or more accurately the scrap metal that represented it - back into place, "besides, nobody was hurt in the end. And after that dead girl's family sued the pants off of Faz Ent for depicting their dead daughter's ghost like that, it's not like they'll drag ME through the mud using my real name again."
"But the whole town now has a hunch that you're not human." Millie pinched the bridge of her nose in sheer bewilderment. "That is bad."
"Yeah… But do you have any scrap?" Quick to change the subject, Sarah shifted the topic to why she came in through the front door instead of chilling in the back, "I kinda lost some in the crash and other parts got broken, so I need some replacements. Any scrap will do."
"You left proof that you're not human. At the scene." Millie replied, dumbfounded and concerned.
"Not the first time."
With a disappointed huff, Millie stood up and walked out from behind her desk, black and purple dress swishing, almost brushing the floor, as she walked. "I've got some old crap that would have gotten tossed out otherwise." She came to a halt near Sarah and sized up what scrap she'd need. "It's in the back. I have a box with what you need."
"Cool." Sarah smiled as she followed Millie into the familiar back of the shop. This place was like Sarah's second home. After all, when your secondary education is interrupted by a robot replacing every part of you with scrap, people don't seem to want to hire you as an adult, so it's hard to find a place to stay, so why not bum off your goth girlfriend's hospitality.
"The only reason I keep all this scrap and don't melt it down myself is because I know you'll need it," Millie said as she scoured the shelves for the scrap box, mumbling about how she should probably label the boxes better.
"Awwww, that's so sweet!" Sarah smiled as Millie located the box and placed it on the floor.
"Take whatever you need," the gothic appraiser stated before she stood back as Sarah rummaged through the scrap box, swapping and changing metal parts, tossing broken bits out of herself, and rearanging components.
As Sarah set her shoulder back in, the conversation shifted from scrap metal to the ornate canister that contained a seemingly ordinary plastic ball pit ball.
"What's that?" Sarah asked, pointing at the canister, readjusting the scrap in her hands as she did so.
"My ball." Millie replied. She thought that she'd had it hidden under her desk, but she'd accidentally left it in the open.
Sarah looked at Millie as if she had two heads, so she knew she had some explaining to do.
"You know how sometimes I get phantom pains and seem to have a split personality? It used to be worse. This ball contained the side of me that died in Funtime Freddy's stomach hatch that day. According to this detective and ghost duo, L and J… or something, a robot named Eleanor bound the souls of her victims to these balls. It was no wonder I was drawn to the ball pit. I managed to reunite my physical body and the dead half of my soul, and found myself able to now see which balls belonged to who." Millie looked over at the boxes on the shelves and the other canisters she had made. "Honestly they were surprised to see me alive. Then again, the detective ALSO shouldn't have been alive, so the first five minutes of explaining what happened was just two should-be-dead's staring at eachother. He hooked me up with a line to the station, and I wound up being in on something that wasn't actually over my head."
"So why do you have the others?" Sarah asked.
"Well, the detective must have relayed our entire conversation back to the station, as the police paid my store a little visit. They wanted my help," Millie smiled, "Being a victim of one of those incidents that was tied to the ball pit, and being one of the few people able to see what's inside each orb, and all that. During our conversations, one of the other victims walked in, unsure of why they came into this store but they just had a feeling like they should be here right now."
"Ooo, spooky!"
"Quite," Millie continued with a smirk, "Well, when they stepped through the door, the orb linked to them started to glow, so I handed it to them, and basically, the energy from the ball transferred back into them, like the energy from mine transferred back into me. The police figured that leaving the balls with me was the best way of getting them to the right place, as people are more likely to walk into an antiques store than a police station. But they do regularly visit to make sure things are going well."
"So, that's what this is," Millie said as she patted the top of the ornate looking canister, "a part of my soul. I've made canisters for many of the other balls based on what I've seen within them. It makes them easier to sort."
"Do you have any kind of plan on getting them back to their owners?" Sarah asked, noting that there were more balls than she could probably count.
"I don't really have a plan outside of my overarching objective. I just hope that they stumble into my shop. That's my plan for how I will find who these orbs belong to. If they are alive like me, they may finally feel whole again. If not, it goes to thier next of kin, and searching for next of kin is a police matter." Millie turned around to take inventory of some old Fazbear Entertainment merchandise that sat nearby, "But it's not all waiting and seeing. To find these people I make them find me instead. I collect legacy Freddy's hardware in hopes it'll draw in those I seek. It had already worked for some, but some of the balls are yet to be ID'd. Some are only able to be ID'd when the person or thier next of kin walks in. Some even glow with the hardware, like the freaky clown or the little Freddy doll… now seeing a sapient Freddy doll touch the orb, go limp, then less than an hour later seeing a panicking young man and his younger sibling run in and learning that the elder sibling had been body swapped with the doll and had been swapped back after the doll touched the orb… That's something you don't forget."
"What about the clown?" Sarah asked as she pointed to a photograph of a clown animatronic. She assumed this was the freaky clown Millie had mentioned, but wanted to see if she was right.
Millie went silent and shifted her gaze away from Sarah. "It went to his next of kin."
Realising that the clown was probably linked to a tragedy Millie didn't want to speak of, she didn't press any further and awkwardly looked away. A bright flash quickly caught her gaze, and it was coming from the box of unidentified balls.
"Millie, look!" She exclaimed, pointing at the box.
Millie's jaw dropped and instantly, she rushed over to the box and procured the one glowing orb that was in a case made up of mechanical parts.
"This one hasn't been fully ID'd, but I now think it's yours."
As she carried the case to Sarah, the orb glowed brighter, plastering the shadows of the case's frame as pitch black streaks across the room, leaving what was not cast in shadow to be engulfed in gold.
After taking the orb out of the casing, the only darkness in the room was cast by the shadows of the two women.
Millie held out the orb, and Sarah held out her hands so that the orb could be handed to her.
With the orb now in Sarah's hands, Millie placed her own hands around Sarah's so she wouldn't drop it, and slowly, the light from the orb dimmed as the energy contained within returned to Sarah.
Once the light faded, the ball returned to its normal plastic form.
"All I could gather from this one was a vague sense of machines and a want to be cute and not get picked on. Odd how it hasn't reacted until now." Millie said as Sarah stared at the plastic ball.
"Honestly, I'm both surprised and not that I have an orb." As she spoke, she subconsciously brought the orb to her chest, and the mechanical parts that made up her torso pulled the orb in, "It's just weird to think that I'd been missing that big of a part of myself."
Before she was entirely sure what was happening, scrap metal begun falling to the floor.
Before Millie coule begin to panic, she heard Sarah talking to herself.
"Don't need that, move that there, and done!"
The back room was in silence as around Sarah lay a pile of scrap up to her ankles, yet she looked the same.
"What … Happened?" Millie asked.
"Oh! After absorbing the orb, the scrap that makes up my body begun to move around. At first I was a bit worried, but then I realised what was happening: I'm able to maintain my form more efficiently now! So my body was just ejecting any parts that were too rusty or otherwise too broken or just not needed." Sarah looked around at the pile of scrap whilst stretching her arms. She sounded a lot less rusty than before. "Some of the ejected parts are still good though, so I'd keep hold of them. And what's odd about it not reacting until now anyway…. I still feel like something is missing though, like there's still a part of me out there somewhere that doesn't know I exist out here."
"You're just here so often I thought it would have reacted by now," Millie replied as she picked up and sorted the shed scrap into 'keep' and 'broken beyond salvage', "Then again, a pair of my regular customers - a father and son who come here for the cheap thrifted goods - came into the store the other day, and the father started having a migraine. At that moment, the orb that I could only identify as a normal domestic family who were somehow linked to the ball pit the orbs came from directly, started to glow. It was only then when I was certain that the pit orb was his. You see, whilst I can see into these, faces are impossible to distinguish, so ultimately, 'does it light' is the only real means of being certain on whose is whose, and the orb doesn't always belong to the involved party that you'd think it would."
"So who do you think the dog ball belongs to?" Sarah said as she looked at the orbs that were sitting on the shelf, sorted and in what she presumed were appropriate containers.
"I had to do some digging, but I found the names of the involved parties. Greg, and a girl whose family requested anonymity from this whole tragedy."
"Greg?" Sarah questioned, "Gregory sr? The comatose man with the dog bites? Didn't he have a kid about a decade ago? How old is that ball?"
"Yes, it is indeed that Greg: the comatose man with the dog bites." Millie replied with an objective tone, "It was the only one I could get a certain ID on due to the dog animatronic. Managing to ID this orb was very important, as whilst Greg grew up, he's almost thirty now and has a ten year old son, the shard in the ball is still 16 years old in a world that'll forever be 2007. And given that nobody has come forward and Gregory jr is currently missing, we are hoping that this orb may draw in the child."
Sarah was rather perplexed.
"Why would it draw in Gregory jr?" She asked, "Gregory jr wasn't born until like, so many years after the incident that made this ball."
Millie nodded. After all, why would it? The facts were simple: 1 - the dog ball was among the oldest, alongside the underground guard ball and the original balls tied to the mass murderer at the Freddy's location that once surounded the pit, and 2 - it was not confirmed which of the two were actually in the ball: Greg or The Girl?
And if it is a part of Greg, how do you even get something like this through customs?
"We don't know, but it's a long shot. There are only three options: it reacts to Greg, his son, or The Girl"
"What if it's The Girl?" Sarah questioned, "and how will you know it's them if they requested anonymity?"
"The orb will go to her family. And just because they wanted to remain anonymous doesn't mean I don't know them; they just don't want thier name tied to this incident," Millie said as she examined the orb as if it'd yield more answers that it had thus far, "Usually, when the one with a part of their soul stolen is dead, we'll want to reunite it with the family, as the rest of thier ghost usually lingers around there."
Before the conversation could continue, Millie heard the door bell ring: she had a customer. "So let's deal with this later, ok?"
At the front desk, Millie and Sarah watched as a duo of regular customers walked in: a pair of rookie film directors. One average height and slightly athletic, the other tall and lean. She mentally went over her stores incident procedures, as it was always best to be on the ball in the event of a customer experiencing a paranoia induced panic attack or collapsing from chronic pain, which these two often did to the point where it was practically routine.
"Looking for anything specific, directors?" Millie asked, knowing that those two usually look around for things that would make good props. Whilst a normal antiquarian would likely be adverse to such shoppers, her store was as much a thrift and Fazbear's junk store as it was standard antiques. Though Fazbear Entertainment stuff from the Fredbear era still counted as antiques.
"Nothing really. Just browsing, seeing if inspiration will hit," and hit was probably an ironic word as the taller directors words were cut short by him collapsing to the ground, hissing in pain.
The shorter director stared at the taller one, saying nothing. And it was clear why: the shorter director was shaking, his breathing patterns were abnormal, and he looked as if he too would soon wind up a heap on the floor.
As the shorter directed started screaming about a blackbird, Millie realised that she'd have to remedy the situation fast. She knew what he was screaming about: she had saw the newspapers, read about the taller director going missing on the train tracks, the feathers that were found, and how the taller director then was found injured but alive in a ditch a few days later.
He had also disclosed his hallucinations in passing.
She had also read the scathing and inaccurate hit-piece Faz Ent put out afterwards, even though that company didn't seem to be involved with the situation at all. The fact they tried to cover it up at all was suspicious.
Millie didn't know how, but she had a gut feeling that Eleanor was behind this too; she had to be if Faz Ent got involved in a situation where they could have had plausible deniability. But gut feelings only got you so far: she knew that a pair of aspiring directors were some of the victims with shards of themselves trapped in the balls, but without a positive ID from the orb itself, all it was was a gut feeling that maybe this duo and the duo from orb were the same, even if every other detail lined up. As she tried to manage the situation, micromanaging trying to ascertain as to where the taller one kept his medication whilst trying to mentally ground the other, Sarah stared off into the back storage room.
"I think one of the balls is glowing."
"What?" Millie exclaimed before turning around to see that indeed, one of the balls was glowing. And it was the one in the casing themed after film production. The one she had suspected to be theirs the whole time.
And that was the true positive ID she needed.
"Just stay put, ok?" She said before rushing into the back of the shop, picking up the ball, and rushing back, glowing case in hand.
"Ok," she sat in front of the two directors and opened the casing, "if you can, extend a hand."
Both of them obliged, albeit shaking. With too much practice behind her, Millie placed the glowing orb in the taller man's hand, and placed the other man's hand on top. She kept her hands around thiers for the sole purpose of ensuring that they wouldn't drop it - she didn't want to know what would happen if they did and it wasn't worth chancing it.
Nobody was certain if seconds or minutes had passed until the ball finally stopped glowing.
"It looks like it was equally both of yours. That may pose a logistical issue," Millie mumbled as she let go of the men's hands, and as predicted, thier grip on the ball pit ball immediately failed, so she simply put the ball back in its case. "Does anything feel different?"
"Well, I'm slightly less in pain than before. This would be the first time the medication has actually worked." The taller director said.
"And I don't know what you did, but it really helped ground me, thanks." The shorter one added.
They didn't have a clue, did they.
"Maybe that you now have the part of your souls back that Eleanor stole, you'll find that you're a lot more… 'normal'? That's probably the wrong word. The pain you feel is no longer unnaturally amplified by her, which is what she was doing to mine suffering, after all. It's somewhat like how before the balls were brought into my shop, I was an emotionless husk with non-stop phantom pains."
"And that's different to how you act now in what way?" The shorter director chuckled in a way where it was obvious he was trying to diffuse some kind of tension in the air.
The reply made Millie laugh, but she remained serious, "I had a whole half of my soul ripped out and that half believed that I bled to death. If anything I've just exchanged lacking half of my emotions for constant nightmares. But it's better than being dubbed a medical anomaly, having lost too much blood yet still living. Taking his hand to replace the one he took was all the revenge I could get," She glared at her prosthetic hand with a bitter mix of rage and regret; it was clear that her prosthetic was made from funtime Freddy's hand, "but enough about me. Let's get back on topic: you two."
"Wait… So you think the pain was being amped up by Eleanor?" The taller director asked, "And that's why my medication wasn't working before?"
"Effectively, yes. You had ghost induced variants of your conditions. That's the short version of it, unless you want me to go into detail and explain how that detective fellow found out about Eleanor and how she was using the suffering of us and the parts of us she stole to power herself," Millie replied, "You mentioned a while ago that your doctor said that scans showed that your pain should just be in your leg and not all over, and that your medication should work but just doesn't, am I correct?"
"Yes…" The director replied, "But they just waved me off with some medication after I told them that it wasn't just in my leg."
"Well, whilst I too don't trust doctors for… obvious reasons," Millie waved her prosthetic hand as she spoke, "Where is your pain?"
"My… Leg!" The tall director smilled and appeared to be incredibly excited about this, "the pain is just in my leg! I can finally look into getting treatment for it again…" His voice mellowed out a little, "I had given up after the first few checkups… Nobody knew what was wrong, and nobody except us really seemed to care. So I just gave up after they kept on just giving me medication and sending me away with a 'come back in a month'. But now I might actually get answers… But the damage is probably done by now and I'll probably be limping forever more, but better late than never."
"Honestly the extra beta waves should have given it away, but regardless," Millie sighed, paused, then smiled, "whatever she was doing to you won't be happening anymore. Though you might want to mention the phrase 'ghost induced chronic pain' if you want to get anyone to apologize for not taking your ghost induced chronic pain seriously."
"It's odd though, isn't it," the shorter director said, "I thought it would have just been him if either of us, seeing as before this I thought it was just the dead ones or almost dead ones who wound up linked to those balls."
Millie shook her head, "whilst a correlation, it's not entirely true. Some of the first people to come here were just as alive as you two, and another had been a victim of a digital consciousness transfer. All those linked to either Eleanor or the ball pit itself, dead or alive, were effected and have a fragment of themselves tied to one of those damn plastic things. It may take a while to ensure everyone gets back what was taken from them, but at least we're doing something to reverse some of the damage. Shame I can't say the same about our reputations… I still get called a shallow bitch in public, but that detective guy who dropped off these balls apparently knows a guy who knows a journalist. Maybe we should try and give Faz Ent a taste of their own medicine."

Hello? Hello, hello? [FNAF, Renegade AU]

I found @alexiseatzbeez's Faztober over on Tumblr, and selected 8 prompts that I found interesting. The first one I selected was day 1 - "Hello? Hello, hello?"
For this, I drew Krasnyy, the phone guy of location C in the Renegade AU recording a message on the office's tape recorder-phone hybrid.
The tape recorder-phone hybrid is how Krasnyy's voicemails survived despite him using the office phone in his fight against the world's most depressed assassin, Vincent Taylor: the calls are stored on tapes that management sets to play from the phone, so it doesn't matter that the original phone was destroyed as it can be just be replaced and have the messages sent to it. Something that happens often. Also the device has a separate body and receiver, and the receiver is from an device as the one that came with the one Krasnyy used to record the 1993 phone calls had already been broken.

August 1993.
Krasnyy flicked through the papers that his boss had handed him with one hand, and held the receiver for the office phone in the other.
He was supposed to read this out verbatim into the office's phone/tape recorder hybrid in order to record a message that would be used to train the next guard, and all future guards.
If Faz Ent had their way, there would be many, many more new guards.
The receiver felt familiar in his hands. It had probably been the one that he'd used back in 87 when he was suposed to record those 'summer job training tapes', but he had instead called the guard to warn them of the animatronics in a way that'd fall under management's radar. Given that last week, the phone's receiver had been mysteriously destroyed, he figured that they'd just pulled out this one as a spare despite the colour mismatch.
The receiver in his hand was a comforting presence, and fortunately so, as if the script was anything to go by, Faz Ent wanted him dead.
'Finishing up my last week'. Bullshit! They were either going to sack him, or kill him, and with everything that Krasnyy knew, the latter was more likely.
As for the contents of the documents, it was mostly legal disclaimers. None of it was useful: if this is all anyone heard, they wouldn't survive their first night! So he'd have to get creative: omit most of what management wanted him to say, emphasise the chance you could become a missing person by working at this place, and weave in some proper information.
He'd record these tutorials his way, just like he had done back in 87, and try to give as much information as possible in a way that'd slip under the radar and tell everyone what they needed to know without explicitly saying it. Anyone who heard these tapes would be able to deduce that the animatronics are posessed, even though he could not state those words explicitly. It was the only way to get the message across and keep his head on his shoulders for one more night.
If Faz Ent got their way, this might be the last act of rebellion against this wretched place that he'd ever be alive to make.
He'd have to make it worth it.
He'd have to make sure that this week wouldn't be his last. No matter what it takes.

[GORE] The video game [FNAF HW, Renegade AU]

As I usually do with month long prompt events, I picked eight of the prompts to complete over a span of time that goes far over the actual event's timeframe. My first pick for Derin's Vanuary event (an event on Tumblr dedicated to FNAF's Vanny and Vanessa) is Video Game.
My brain instantly turned to Help Wanted 1 and Silver Parasol.
=°•.🌹.•°=
Four game developers against the ghost of a man who spent his life seeking immortality only to find a path of bloody death.
Whilst William Afton managed to persist as a ghost after the destruction of his physical form, Scraptrap, one cannot consider themselves among the living without a body, and William aimed to use the developers bodies to bring himself back to the world of the living.
But the four game developers did fight back. One by one, he tried to take over their minds, and one by one they fought back as they ripped back control and tried to flush him from the program he possessed. But each wound up losing a part of themselves in each of their fights against William.
The first lost his face, the second lost her mind, the third lost her eye, and the fourth lost herself.
All because of the development of a video game.
A video game that was a part of a cover up operation to hide the crimes of Fazbear Entertainment's founder, William Afton.
A gig the developers only took in order to get the inside scoop and make the game reveal the truth instead of hide it, and they wound up uncovering a plot to allow William to possess anyone anywhere in the process.
Whilst the developers had been able to flush William from the game, preventing him from using the game as a possession vector, the fourth developer - Ness - had lost her fight against William, and he had taken up residence in her mind, making victory feel hollow.

The Second Chip [FNAF, Renegade AU]

It had been a few days since the Ruins incident and whilst Cassie is physically recovering alongside Sylvia, Gregory, and Ness, and the gas is finally wearing off, so she can see the real world clearly again, her mental state is still on the decline as uncertainty takes hold. What was the chip other than a kill switch and way for Faz Ent to manipulate what she sees, what did Faz Ent really want with Ness, Gregory, Sylvia, and herself, and would she ever be safe?
=°•.🌹 Story 🌹.•°=
°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•🌹•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°•°°
It had been a few days since the incident dubbed 'the Ruins Incident', or 'Ruins' for short.
Cassie had managed to explain everything she knew so far. Her information combined with what Sylvia knew resulted in quite the full picture, yet questions remained, as they so often did. Cassie had noticed that the distortion she had seen around her dad's forehead, as well as some other objects, had vanished; a sign that the Component V gas and the residue the chip pumped into her head to try and kill her was out of her system now and she was seeing the real world. The real real world.
She hadn't been kept up to date on the mask and chip situation though. She figured things were being investigated and they'd get back to her once they had the full picture as to not worry her. Sylvia had been told that the control module that had been jammed onto her chest was 'the same as the one Adelaide used on Luis in the Raid', which probably meant more to Sylvia than it seemed on the surface, as Sylvia had no further questions and she actually seemed to start giving answers instead of questions.
Cassie was recovering though at least. She was no longer bedridden despite her fractured ankle, and only her eye and the old implant site were causing issues. Mostly pain and inflammation, but issues nonetheless.
As she got up to stretch her legs, Mike walked in. The paranormal officer had been a familiar sight, but had been more for small talk than saying anything actually useful, likely due to the chip situation and not wanting to cause unnecessary panic. She had leaned enough about him to know that he probably blamed himself for her passing out over learning about the kill switch, and didn't want that kind of shock to happen again.
"Any information or just small talk?" Cassie asked.
"I actually have information today!" Mike beamed as he handed Cassie the mask and an eyepiece, "we removed the chipping system from the mask, so it can read them but not stab another into you. And the eyepiece should act as your chip. I've ran extensive tests, so it should be safe."
"Well the only unsafe thing was the kill switch chip," Cassie said as she held the mask at arm's length in front of her face. "Can we get Gregory and my dad in the room? I promised myself the first thing I'd get through is seeing what they look like in the AR system."
"Alright," Mike replied with a nod, "I'll fetch them. I might be a while though."
Cassie returned to her hospital bed to examine the mask and eyepiece.
In the days since the Ruins Incident, Cassie had learned that Gregory had been adopted by Sylvia's sister, and that as soon as everything in this state had been sorted, they were heading back home across the country. Cassie hadn't been home often between the Riot and Raid due to the attempt on her dad's life during the former incident. She'd spent most of her time searching, hiding, and observing whilst her dad tried to make ends meet as he was extorted by his former employer, Fazbear Entertainment. Asside from the some changes of clothes, a few tools, and some trinkets, Cassie and her dad didn't have much, so the decision to start fresh and live with Sylvia in a state far away from Faz Ent's main HQ was a no-brainer.
Cassie knew that everyone who wasn't local to the Pizzaplex who was involved in the Raid was currently in temporary accommodation, so that's where Mike was heading. She also knew her dad had been moved there too for safety reasons. She regretted not talking to her dad about being contacted by 'Gregory', but who could blame her for not wanting to put an even bigger target on her dad's back when Faz Ent were already after his head.
After all, the only conditions Gregory was supposed to contact her under were total safety or if his life was currently on the line, no in-between. If she had heard his original pleas for help when Faz Ent had actually had their hands on him and were trying to use his deduction and memory lock skills to wreck his mind, she'd have been dragging her dad into a death trap had she told him about it.
Even though she heard those prerecorded pleas thirty eight hours after Gregory and Ness escaped the megaplex and Sylvia set off the main round of demolition explosives, there had still been execs in the building running amok, and she just knew that if they had caught scent of her dad, they'd have killed him on the spot.
Before she could worry herself more about how much Faz Ent wanted her dad dead, Mike returned. "I've got everyone you asked for," he said, "let's hope everything works out."
Desmond Anadem, Cassie's dad, sat at the foot of his daughter's hospital bed, whilst Gregory stood nearby. Ness stood off to the side and Sylvia pulled up a chair just out of her immediate line of sight.
After lifting the mask to her face, Cassie kept her gaze fixed on the sheets. A message poped up on screen.
"Welcome back returning user! It's a good thing too as we are fresh out of implants. Sadly, your chip is just a data storage chip and does not support RW AR, so you'll just have to deal with an un-upgraded reality. The data that your chip has saved is your inventory and technician ID.
Call this number for more implant chips and AR mask maintenance to regain access to the more advanced features only accessable to AR chipped users:"
Cassie didn't care for the phone number.
"Returning user, hu?" She mumbled to herself as she checked the inventory on the mask. All her collectables she found in the 'AR world' (also known as whenever she was wearing the mask) were there. "Wow, you guys managed to save more data from that dead chip than I expected."
She finally sucked up the courage to look up.
And she understood why the doctors didn't want her seeing her dad so soon after the Ruins incident.
Droplets of red flowed down Desmond's face. A small hole, no wider in diameter than five millimetres was bored into his forehead.
He looked as if he had been shot in the head.
Cassie felt herself hyperventilating and tore off the mask. She received worried looks from everyone.
"You weren't wearing the eyepiece," Mike pointed to Cassie's hand as he spoke, "it was in your hand the whole time."
Cassie stared at the eyepiece in her hand.
"There's a second chip," Cassie stated, her voice shaking, "it's not an AR chip, but it did communicate with the AR chip that day."
Mike nodded, and with a deep breath, he pulled out the sort of microchip scanner that'd look right at home in a veterinarian's office. "Can I scan for it?" He asked.
"Go ahead," Cassie replied.
A scan of her face showed nothing. Neither did a scan of the arms. As Mike put the scanner to the back of her neck to start scanning her back, it beeped.
"It's in the back of your neck. It seems to just be a microchip that someone would put in a pet, but with a little bit of extra rewritable data," Mike said as he read the chip's data from the scanner.
As Mike passed the scanner to Cassie so she could read it, he asked, "so what should we do about it?"
As Cassie read the data, she figured that she should probably be the one asking that question, but she did have an answer.
"I don't think we can do anything. It's in the back of my neck," Cassie replied, "it's probably been there since I was synthesized."
Desmond winced at what Cassie said, and both Mike and Cassie picked up on his reaction.
Mike was about to speak, but let Cassie ask the question.
"What is it?" She asked.
"When Alistair handed you to me on your sixth birthday, she told me that no matter where I went, Faz Ent would be able to track us down," Desmond said, "I think I now know what she meant."
Cassie nodded. It made sense that Faz Ent would chip her. It was scary, but not what she had been worried about; at least this one didn't have a kill switch, or the capacity to be one.
Cassie took a deep breath and tried out the eyepiece. Certain parts of the hospital room had strange effects, the same glitchy effects that the AR chip or AR chip residue combined with the Compound V gas had created.
She put the mask to her face and gave the room a better look around.
Gregory looked the most normal. The VANNI network didn't seem to change how he looked at a glance, though patches of blood had been projected onto his clothes and he held a blank stare.
Sylvia's clothes had been altered to be a security guard's uniform.
Ness looked like the rabbit lady she saw on the screen back in the daycare theatre.
Her dad still looked like a dead man.
"Talk about the nickname 'spite network'," she mumbled as she looked over to Mike, who had the most confusing change of all. The man in a white blouse and black cardigan was replaced by a woman in a similar white blouse, but with a thin tan trenchcoat instead of the cardigan, and his hair had been changed from a light brown to a darker shade.
She tried to pay close attention to the mumblings she heard as she looked at everyone again, as she knew the mask replayed snippets of data it collected.
'Morgan Smith! Interpol!', 'It's alright.', 'Are you OK?' spoken in the voice of an unfamiliar woman. From this alone Cassie knew Mike had been 'the other individual who infiltrated the VR environment'.
She could just hear a cacophony of screams interlaced with a gunshot and the sound of metal being torn apart as she looked at her dad. Audio from the Riot, recontextualised to make it sound as if he had been killed, but he'd told her enough to know that the bullet hit a wall, and that THAT was the exact moment when the staff and STAFF truly turned on one another.
She heard laughter as she looked at Ness. Deranged laughter that wasn't like the woman at all. She could also faintly hear muffled sobbing.
As she looked at Gregory, she heard the same echoes she had heard at the Pizzaplex, but this time, they were interlaced with anguished screams. Likely some 'cut content' from Adelaide's 'recording session' with her poor half brother. Cassie shuddered thinking about what Adelaide might have done to him.
She expected to hear typical security guard talk as she looked at Sylvia, but instead, she heard the mumbles say things she didn't expect to hear. 'Freddy, if management finds out, we're both dead', 'Let me guess, you've only just started processing again', 'Is Freddy the only one controlled tonight or is he the only one in safe mode. How the hell am I supposed to find that out and live?', a shrieking 'NO!', and assorted screams.
She was certain Gregory never heard her say any of that. If he did, he'd have probably trusted her during the Breach.
And Sylvia was lucky to be alive.
She turned and looked at a peice of medical equipment that had a screen, and she saw Alistair. Instinctively, she reached out, but a deep dark blue hand grabbed her wrist. Her gaze followed up the entity's arm, and she saw that M.X.E.S was now where Alistair was once shown. She screamed and tried to pull off her mask, but she found herself frozen to the spot.
A pop-up appeared in her peripheral vision.
'It seems that something is stressing you out. Let me help'
As the world around her became an open field, she screamed "No no no NO NO NO NO NO NO!"
Everyone in the hospital room watched in shock horror as Cassie froze up entirely after she had reached out for the screen of a peice of medical equipment, screamed in pure visceral fear, and then went completely limp.
Before she pulled herself up again.
"We saw M.X.E.S, panicked, and the mask trapped Civ in some kind of grassy daydream to try and 'help' us. If you remove the mask, we might die. I don't have long before it traps me too. Don't panic, and don't blame yourselves. At least this is happening now and not when we're in danger, and think of a way to get us out of -"
Sleeper was cut off as Cassie went limp once more.
"She's right," Gregory said, "it's better this happened now than later."
"Ness, see if you can find out anything about the M.X.E.S system, and if you could use J.A.C.X to pull her out of it. I'll fetch Fritz to run diagnostics on the mask and see if we can figure out what state she's in," Mike said, sounding slightly different, feeling as if this was his mess again.
First the construction crew died at the old manager's hands.
Second, he could only wait outside during the Breach due to the megaplex's 12 till 6 lockdown.
Third, not being able to save Ness from getting kidnapped in the first place, and after saving Luis from the critical state that Faz Ent had left him in, he wasn't able to provide much help to Sylvia from the outside as he, unlike Sylvia who had the demolition contract, could not legally step foot inside the megaplex unless someone inside called the police, and he couldn't run that risk.
Fourth, he couldn't stop Cassie from entering the megaplex.
Fifth, this.
Mike was about to lose it. He hated feeling like he was just organising who cleans the mess up instead of fixing it himself. But he wouldn't lose his composure. He couldn't.
Mike felt someone punch his arm.
"Pull yourself together! My daughter said to not blame anyone, so quit blaming yourself!" Sylvia put her foot down: she knew just how much of a failure Mike had felt these past five plus weeks. She wasn't about to let him lose himself to his despair. "I'm not some kid you need to protect either. When Ness got kidnapped, I was acting as an extension of you to save her. And thanks to your suggestion to stick around inside the megaplex in case Cassie falls for Faz Ent's ploy, I was able to back her up and prevent William from feeding her any lies about Gregory by getting Bill to own up to his bullshit before that point. It's thanks to you that she's still on our side. And due to Sleepers seeming obsession with the mask, it IS better that we deal with this flawed 'protection' protocol now rather than later, because she was going to trip it sooner or later."
Mike looked at Sylvia with a bewildered smile.
"Alright," he replied before heading off to find Fritz.
Sylvia begun setting up and starting diagnostics on the mask's current processes for Fritz to decipher later, whilst Ness tried to contact the J.A.C.X system. It was suspicious that it hadn't pinged anything after she had saved Gregory from Adelaide about thirty nine hours prior to the incident.
No data in the time it took them to escape, no data after.
"Did someone take Jacx offline?" Ness asked herself out loud as she pinged it repeatedly, yet received no reply.
"Do you think M.X.E.S might have done it?" Sylvia asked as she did what she could for the diagnostics, deciphering what she could. "William did say he repurposed J.A.C.X to make the thing after all, and he's not the sort to like competition."
As Ness found some of M.X.E.S's code and read through it, she replied "No… No way."
"What?" Sylvia tilted her head and squinted to try and see what her sister was seeing.
"William didn't make M.X.E.S. Jacx IS M.X.E.S!" Ness exclaimed as tears pricked the corners of her eyes. "LOOK!"
Sylvia hadn't seen M.X.E.S, or it's code, but it bore an uncanny resemblance to J.A.C.X, whose code she had seen.
But the important things were the code comments; left in M.X.E.S's files were code comments signed by Ness herself.
William didn't repurpose the code and network as she thought. William had only said that he used the starts of what Ness and Gregory set up during the raid. Sylvia had almost absentmindedly solved it herself when she had summarised M.X.E.S's creation as William repurposing J.A.C.X into M.X.E.S, not once, but twice now. Oh if only she knew how right she had been.
Ness swiftly tweaked her J.A.C.X interface and begun to send ping requests.
She was now getting responses, and a little more than a response too.
A hare so blue it was almost black filled the screen, it's arms looked as if they had been torn from their sockets, and the waist down tapered into a point; she could only imagine what had happened to it.
"He's missing is his uniform… And…" Sylvia remarked with a horrified hiss and shook her head before she could vocalise that second thought. There was far more things wrong than Jacx just missing his uniform, but she didn't want to think about how much pain he was in right now.
"Poor Jacx," Ness murmured into her screen, "what happened to you?"
The hare tried to speak, but no noise came out. Ness and Sylvia checked the speakers, yet nothing was amiss.
"Can you speak?" Ness's tone was fearful and her eyes were teary. She already knew the answer.
The hare shook his head, confirming it.
"Are you Jacx, or are you Mxes?" Ness then asked.
The hare imitated scales with its hands in a shrug, before holding up one finger.
"Jacx?" Ness asked to confirm.
Jacx nodded.
"Do you have any way of communicating long answers to us?" Ness asked.
Jacx nodded and pulled up a text document, and seemed to write on it like a chalk board.
It wrote "I am J.A.C.X. William found me when he was trying to contain the mimic. He tore me apart, took away my uniform and voice, and turned your sensor nodes into security nodes. I'm sorry I couldn't stop it. I tried to tell Cassie that Gregory was not down there, but I couldn't speak and all my actions did - all being in the presence of her did was call animatronics to where she was. I'm sorry I couldn't do anything."
"Stop blaming yourself!" Ness exclaimed.
"Can people PLEASE stop tripping over eachother to blame themselves for everything that happened since Ness got kidnapped post-raid? Please and thank you," Sylvia huffed before she asked Jacx a question: "Can you do anything for Cassie now."
As Jacx wrote "I think so…" on his text document, Fritz had sat down to read the diagnostics.
"Well he's probably our best shot," Fritz grimaced as he looked at the diagnostics, "it doesn't look good…"
"What's wrong?" Sylvia asked, her voice laced with concern.
"Is she going to be ok?" Desmond chimed in, equally concerned.
"We need something already inside the network to get her out of the network." Fritz put it plain and simple.
"The thing is, will she be able to trust Jacx enough for it to pull her out…" Fritz grimaced as he glared at the diagnostics screen.
This has been the first time in a long time that Sleeper and Civ were experiencing things as 'one'. Sleeper was grateful it was only the present that they were currently sharing, as there were still plenty of things in the past that she didn't want Civ to be burdened with the knowledge of.
"Where am I?" She mumbled to herself.
"Safe, of course."
Cassie screamed in fear in response to the unidentified voice who had replied to her, and she whipped around to try and locate who said that.
"Where are you?" She asked, certain she'd scoured every inch of her line of sight.
"Right here," the voice replied, seemingly from behind her.
Cassie spun around, and saw what looked like Gregory; sitting, smiling, and waving a Freddy ice cream around in a loop. He didn't look real. He looked like a hologram.
"Who are you," Cassie asked, "WHAT are you?"
"I'm Gregory."
"Where have I heard that one before," Cassie shot back, "who are you really. Unless you threw yourself into the VANNI network to try and pull me out, I know you're not Gregory."
'Gregory' paused for a moment before replying.
"But I AM Gregory. Although, you probably know me by a different name. Clone 46."
Clone 46.
"You're…" Cassie could hardly bring herself to speak.
"Part of the mimic?" 'Gregory' finished Cassie's question for her. "Yeah, I was. But you already know I didn't start out that way."
"Are … you going to kill me?" Cassie all but colapsed. Facing the entity she saved Gregory from becoming, the entity that was downloaded onto an endoskeleton only to be slain at her hands after only twenty eight hours of being in the physical world.
She had killed Clone 46 twice. Once in the VR environment, and once in the real world. She wouldn't be surprised if it wanted to kill her now.
"No!" 'Gregory' replied, "Your Gregory and I were technically one person back in the VR environment. Whilst I was carrying out kill orders, I could also detect his memories. I know your Gregory, and I know that him and I only spent a short period of time as one being in the VR environment, but… He's your best friend. So you're also my best friend. Even after everything."
"So why did you try to kill me back then?" Cassie asked, shaking.
"Because I'm clone 46," Gregory replied, "I was built to be a killer first, and a person as an afterthought. Even though I was the body and code of the character Gregory was stuck playing as in the VR environment, and even though we shared our memories, meaning we each have two sets of memories: the real world memories from your Gregory, and the VR environment memories from me, clone 46 was ultimately an experiment to make a child assassin who would kill on command. As soon as the other half of the Mimic's codebase even suggested I should attack you, only one of us was going to get out of there alive. I'm glad it was you."
Cassie tried to reply, but all she could do was choke back tears.
"And you're really as strong as they say," 'Gregory' continued, "If Sleeper had found me and not Civ, it'd have been a brawl for the ages! She fought me when she could though, just like how you kept fighting any animatronics that got too close to you, like the first time you saw Monty."
Cassie's memories had been patchy at best, and she knew things weren't as consistent as they seemed. The fact she'd had a bare knuckle brawl against some of the animatronics was a given. What surprised her though was that the mimic was on her brawled roster.
"Don't cry," 'Gregory' smiled, "besides, did you order any 'help' before you joined me here?"
Cassie looked up and saw M.X.E.S poking his head through a rip in the terrain. It didn't look malicious like it did back at the megaplex. It flipped between trying to keep the 'rift' it created open, and reaching a hand out to Cassie, but the reach wasn't a desperate grab.
"Why am I not panicking?" Cassie asked herself, not realising she spoke out loud.
"Because you know it's true nature. It was meant to keep the mimic at bay," 'Gregory' replied.
"I was playing a villain's game that day," Cassie shrugged as she stepped towards M.X.E.S and grabbed it's paw, "Bye Gregory!" She smiled.
"Bye Cassie! Say hi to real world me for me!" 'Gregory' replied as Cassie took the entity's hand.
After getting pulled through the rift, Cassie found herself flat on her back in a hospital bed. Back in her hospital bed. She'd become very familiar with that patch of ceiling, and it hadn't changed with the introduction of the VANNI network.
Slowly, she pulled herself upright and saw M.X.E.S hovering over Ness's shoulder. It turned to her and gestured for her to take the mask off, so she did.
"Cassie! You're ok!"
"Cassie!"
"You're alive!"
Cassie couldn't pinpoint who cried what, but three people pulled Cassie into a group hug.
She wanted to remain calm, but she bawled her eyes out.
Only after what felt like hours, or was it only minutes, Cassie stopped crying.
"How do I know this isn't a dream," Cassie asked herself. She'd been asking herself this a lot recently.
Her cheek was grabbed in a vice grip and her face was pulled about in a rough and tumble manner for a good ten seconds.
"Does that answer your question?" Gregory asked.
"Oww… I mean yes," Cassie replied, rubbing her definitely bruised cheek. "Gregory, clone 46 says hi. Also I need to tell you something later."
"Who's in charge right now, so I know who to remind," Gregory asked.
"Both," Cassie replied. She was surprised that she was both Civ and Sleeper for a change, and Gregory seemed even more surprised, but he was quickly back to normal.
"So I guess you can't blame the other one for forgetting this time," he grinned.
"Nope," Cassie replied, "it is kinda important."
As the adults discussed what happened with the mask as they let Cassie process what had happened herself, Cassie said, "actually, this is the perfect time. Before we split back to normal."
Cassie slipped away from her hospital bed and sat behind an unoccupied bed at the end of the ward. Gregory joined her on the floor.
"Gregory?" Cassie asked.
"What is it?" Gregory felt slightly uneasy.
"If you're EVER in a situation where you don't know if me or a homicidal animatronic is on the other end of an elevator, and there's no way to verify it's me without risking lives, cut the elevator." Cassie said.
"I didn't even cut the cable… Why are you asking me to do this?" Gregory asked, now fearful.
"I know it wasn't you, but even if it was, I'd forgive you. After all, Virtual Gregory, Clone 46, forgave me for scooping him. And if he can forgive me for ending his physical existence," Cassie choked back tears, "I know I'll be able to forgive you if you're ever put in the situation that Bill Blake staged. Because if you were up there instead of him…"
"You'd have had me write you off as dead the moment the mimic was released," Gregory finished Cassie's statement, "and you'd do the same for me."
Cassie couldn't stop herself from bawling her eyes out into her half brother's shoulder.
Gregory didn't know what to say. There really wasn't anything that he could say.
He knew what she really meant in all of this too. She was terrified that Faz Ent would one day kidnap her and mess with her memories via either the VR environment, or forcing Gregory to lock her memories, or otherwise, and that she'd be made to believe that Gregory had dropped the elevator as a result.
The worst part was that her worries weren't even far fetched. Everything she feared was entirely possible to the point where it could happen tomorrow if Faz Ent could be bothered.
"You two alright down there? Getting away from the crowd to cry like I always do?" Sylvia stood over the siblings with a sympathetic smile; Sylvia had a habit of finding places away from others to cry herself too: it had become a habit long before the riot, and it remained a habit even now.
Cassie and Gregory nodded.
"Cool," Sylvia replied to the nod, "y'know, I don't know why I didn't say this sooner, but the first few days after dealing with incidents like this are always super surreal. After the Riot, one of my former colleagues would always stop me for a chat on my way home from work and remind me about the gash on my chest I got from fighting Monty, and it always grounded me back in reality. And after the Breach, protocol for 'Sylvia is slipping' was 'poke rib'. And it still kinda is. It helps remind me that what happened was real and that I'm still alive."
"You have a broken rib?!" Cassie yelled.
"It's mostly healed now. I was fine during the Raid, and well enough to go rescue my sister in the incident after." Sylvia shrugged, "Say, when we got you to the hospital, they found your ankle was fractured."
"Yeah, I'm surprised I was walking on it for that long," Cassie replied, looking at her bandaged ankle and the splint that held it straight. The only reason she could walk on it was because of the splint taking all the pressure.
"Press it!" Sylvia grinned.
"What?" Cassie heard what Sylvia said: she just couldn't believe her ears.
"Press it. If it hurts, you're alive," Sylvia replied.
"Ok…. OW!" Cassie poked her fractured ankle, and it didn't take much for it to hurt. And it hurt a lot. Her splint was definitely pulling so much weight whenever she walked.
"See, the pain tells you that everything is OK!" Sylvia grinned.
"Yeah… Ow… There's definitely pain…" Cassie winced as her ankle felt as if it was on fire. "How do you live like this."
"I went to work the day after the raid with a concussion and minimal medical attention for the gash in my chest. I sucked up a broken rib for three hours during the Breach by chugging possibly out of date Faz Ent own brand painkillers and only got necessary treatment so I wouldn't be hospital bound for the Raid," Sylvia replied, "I survive. It's not pretty, but I survive."
"Does anyone have any other coping mechanisms?" Cassie asked.
"Nope," Gregory replied, "Mum and Dad - Ness and Luis, in case I haven't filled you in that they adopted me - have the same strategy as Sylvia. That all three of them learned from Mike and his friends."
"It really is just a vicious circle of lick your wounds and realise you're alive, and teaching the next generation to do the same," Sylvia added with a laugh, "it's probably the worst strategy, but it still works as a grounding strategy at least!"
"Speaking of Luis, I don't think I've seen much of him," Cassie said, still wincing from the self inflicted pain in her ankle from poking it.
"He's in the other Faz Ent victim ward. He got shot during the Riot, had a control module attached to his chest and spine during the Raid, and was shot when Faz Ent kidnapped Ness a few nights after that, which I think qualifies as the start of the Ruins incident," Sylvia replied.
"Yeah," Gregory confirmed, "you and Auntie Sylvia were placed in the empty ward - well, empty bar me and Ness at the time: we were moved to the general Faz Victims ward as you were wheeled in - just in case you had an adverse reaction to new people. Can't be too careful where the control modules are concerned."
"Too right. Can't be too careful with familiar faces either," Sylvia said, "I guess the contents of the control module that goes on the chest is the same as what was in the masks during the Adelaide incident… Which explains why they're so bulky. Seeing as everyone masked at the Adelaide Incident was rendered completely controlled, and Luis's memory of being controlled during the raid is a hazy blur at best, I guess it WAS my high blood-remnant concentration that let me act on my own. That or I wasn't issued any orders. I want to get Carl in to check, but how do we check these things… Sorry I'm rambling now. Gotta get this down."
Sylvia contunued her tangent as she walked off and grabbed a notebook and pen and begun to scribble everything down.
"So… what are your injuries?" Cassie asked Gregory, wanting some kind of topic of conversation to keep her mind off things.
"Mostly psychological," Gregory shrugged, "Ness's wounds are pretty surgical in nature, so she's just had a few surgeries to properly clean and close those injuries, and she'll likely be fine soon. I have a lot of surface wounds which are already mostly patched up bar the new cut on my cheek that took stitches to close and is under observation for strange reactions, but I'm more mentally scared than physically injured from that to be honest anyway."
"Wow, I guess my stay here is going to be really long because of the chip and broken bone if that's all you're here for," Cassie laughed.
"Yeah, and Sylvia's finally getting all her injuries properly seen to as well, so she'll be here even longer," Gregory added, "it's about time too."
"How did she break a rib anyway?" Cassie asked, "She didn't say how."
"Vanny pushed her down the trapdoor  of the garbage compactor whilst the chute was still open after the compactor crushed Chica," Gregory replied, "I'm surprised I didn't break any bones when Chica dragged me down that trapdoor…"
Cassie was locked in stunned silence.
"Yeah, sorry. I'd have told you about what happened to the animatronics sooner, but I was neither in mortal peril or completely safe, so contacting you about it all would have been too big of a risk," Gregory sighed.
"You fell down the garbage compactor trapdoor, and then she got pushed in?! When?!" Cassie was more shocked at the fact he got dragged down the trash compactor's trap door than the fact that he had implied that he crushed Chica in there. "And Vanny is Ness when William is possessing her and in control, right?"
"During the Breach. And yeah," Gregory nodded but then was taken aback by the specific lack of something that Cassie said, "you're not mad at me for crushing Chica?"
"You only implied it, and with most exits behind lock and key, and Chica's voicebox being part of some of those keys, I don't really blame you," Cassie replied with a half truth. She didn't blame him, that was true, but it wasn't because Chica's beak may have helped him find an exit.
No.
It was because she still felt guilt over what the mimic made her do to Roxy.
By the time she had made it to the party garages, it was almost entirely clear that the 'Gregory' that had been calling her was using spliced audio, yet she had pressed on anyway. She had shut down Roxy even though she knew deep down that it wasn't going to be Gregory who she found in the end.
Gregory had more justification for decommissioning the animatronics. Yet in what had been a good turn for Cassie but a bad turn for Gregory, the animatronics never stayed down for long.
If she had to place her bets, she'd say that Chica and Monty were still staggering or crawling about the Megaplex, despite their apparent deactivation.
"You… Really don't blame me?" Gregory asked, slightly taken aback.
"No. I get it. If our roles were reversed, I'd have probably given the other animatronics upgrades to Roxy," Cassie replied, "I really don't blame you at all."
Gregory nodded and the two sat in mutual silence for a while. There wasn't much more to say on the matter. If roles had been reversed, Gregory would have probably been dealing with a shattered Glamrock Freddy constantly shouting for Cassie to give him his battery upgrade back or something.
On that note, "Where is Roxy?" Cassie asked, "I've not seen her since I escaped the megaplex."
"Hospital employees parking garage," Gregory replied, "I've heard talk about a mini raid to get Monty and Chica's heads so they can be rebuilt."
"I've seen Chica, and she definitely needs a new everything…" Cassie grimaced at the memory of Chica, how Sleeper had a full blown brawl against the robotic chicken several times, and how she seemed to always be in so much pain.
She wanted to move on from this conversation.
Now.
"Also, when and why did Ness adopt you? Wasn't she completely under William's control during the Breach?" Cassie asked, hoping to permanently alter the trajectory of this conversation.
Gregory was taken aback by the conversation shifting from the animatronics to his new home life, but he didn't mind or really even think twice about it. "Yeah, she was. But we both had known of eachother before that night. She knew about Alistair and how clone 46 was marked as a failed experiment due to her 'situation', and I knew about her 'situation' too due to being the subject of the clone 46 experiments. Faz Ent couldn't talk about one of us without talking about the other, so it didn't take us long to figure eachother out." Gregory gazed off into the middle distance as he spoke, trying to remain calm. "William was trying to kill me because clone 46's memories are my memories from my time in the VR environment. I think he might have been able to go through my real world memories too… Clone 46, GGY, is just what I was in the VR environment. I was a liability, so had to go."
"I didn't think Faz Ent wanted you dead. I don't think virtual clone 46 knew that either." Cassie grimaced. If she'd have known, she'd have come up with a better plan, but with how things panned out, maybe getting Gregory to hide inside Freddy's stomach hatch was the better plan after all, and she was glad that things panned out the way they did.
Gregory shrugged, "Guess I just ran out of use to them." Gregory took a brief pause then sighed. "But why me? Why use me for the clone 46 experiments?"
"Alistair was a Faz Ent scientist by choice you know," Cassie replied, "I know I shouldn't have assumed that you knew that when we met back in the silo. At least you learned it from someone…" Cassie started to shake. Ever since she started the Breach by freeing Gregory from the VR environment, she'd always wondered if things would have gone smoother if she told him about Alistair and he didn't have to learn tidbits from a traumatised kidnapping victim barely able to stay in control of her own body. "Is the original patient 46 anything like you expected?"
Gregory shrugged. "I never actually listened to the CDs." He opened his mouth to speak, but shut it as the images of what he had witnessed after Cassie had saved him from the VR environment flashed through his head.
It was blurry, yet so vivid at the same time.
A woman who he had seen before, also hiding in the walls of the Megaplex, but unlike him she was not here by choice. Her choked sobs and her begging him and Cassie to 'please run, before he takes control again' still rang in his ears whenever he saw her. The sight of someone who was supposed to be trying to kill him stabbing herself in order to buy him and Cassie time to escape. Cassie hiding him inside of Freddy and hearing the rabbit lady hunt him down from his hiding spot. Not knowing if Cassie had made it out. Not being able to see or know when the rabbit lady left. Not being able to know whether the person who then begun searching for him was that woman's sister, or the woman herself.
The sight and sounds would never leave his mind.
Even knowing now that the rabbit lady was Ness and that the security guard lady was Sylvia, knowing what happened didn't make it better. It made it worse. Ever since he had freed Ness and she had adopted him, he couldn't help but see a part of himself in Sylvia's predicament and see a part of Cassie in Ness's predicament. He couldn't help but worry if one day, Sleeper would be forced to kill like Ness had killed. He didn't know if he would be able to have the tenacity that Sylvia had had in hunting down the other arcades that would make Princess Quest 3 work, one ones that had stopped Luis from freeing Ness a week prior to the Breach.
He didn't know if Cassie would survive trying to prevent whatever would make her kill from harming others like Ness had prevented William from harming others for so long. He didn't know if she'd be able to cope with some of those attempts being in vain.
"So she's exactly like what I expected," Gregory glanced over at Ness, who was busy talking to Mike, "kind, scared, and just trying to survive whilst containing William.
She kinda reminds me of you."
He didn't mean to say that last part out loud.
"Figures," Cassie hummed as she went over her own recollection of events. Sleeper was used to all the terror and bloodshed. Her encounter with Ness staving off William was just a drop in the bucket to Sleeper. Civ, on the other hand, didn't know much of the horrors until recently. If it wasn't for Bill accidentally causing her to switch from Civ to Sleeper, and if it wasn't for Roxy and Sylvia managing to reach her first, … Civ could have been manipulated into becoming a horrifyingly brutal and efficient agent of William Afton, or worse, the mimic.
And with what Adelaide did to Gregory to get the voice clips to lure her into the Megaplex, Cassie knew that being tricked again or having her memories messed with was still a grim possibility that she'd have to prepare for.
This was the second time since J.A.C.X had rescued her from Helpi's safety system that she'd forced herself to confront that possibility. And it wouldn't be the last.
"I still might wind up being forced into the role of a Faz Ent agent yet," Cassie gazed off into space, "I just wonder if it'll be Sleeper, Civ, or the both of us."
"I won't let that happen!" Gregory instantly proclaimed, "You saved me from becoming Clone 46, I'll save you from becoming Vanny 3.0!"
"Promise?"
"I'll do what I can. And when you're ready, I want to test if I can run deductions using your mask, and I want to see if I can pull you into them with me. There are some things I want to see for myself."

Fazbear Entertainment had had a terrible impact on Jeremy B's life before he was even a twinkle in his parents eyes. It's no wonder that when presented with the opportunity to find out why from the source, he took it.
Jeremy B has an older brother named Roy, but Jeremy never got to see his brother alive, as in 1987, Roy was killed as a part of Location C's MCI. Jeremy was born nine years later, and was unaware that he'd ever had a brother until he was a teenager, when a journalist managed to contact him and inform him of said brother's existence, leaving a business card for if Jeremy wanted to find out more.
Jeremy B asked his parents about his brother, and they told him very little, but enough to verify that he did in fact have a dead 'older' brother, and that said brother did in fact die in Freddy's Location C back in 1987.
When Jeremy was in college, he and some of his friends formed a small games company called "Silver Parasol". The company consisted of himself, Cassey, Sylvia Blake, and Vanessa Diego. The four worked on several arcade style mobile games together before they were contacted by Faz Ent.
Work on their VR game; get a hefty paycheque.
Jeremy remembered the journalist and was all in on the VR game deal: he'd been considering contacting the journalist for a few years, but he'd been putting it off.
Maybe he'd see what he could find on his own first.
Jeremy volunteered as the first playtester.
As he tested the game, he looked into every little thing that he could, and he wound up happening across something strange. After scanning in a chip that correponded to a 'Spring Bonnie', something that appeared to be a yellow rabbit, green with wireframe, boasting piercing purple eyes, started to appear and seemed to be trying to communicate with him. It started to rearrange the code, but it was far from clean: it wasn't clear if this was an AI or a ghost, as both had been known to be able to bend code to their will from the inside.
Jeremy was initially wary around the rabbit, but it seemed to know things. Things about Freddy's, things about his past. It seemed to struggle to find a voice of its own - both AIs and ghosts tended to share this issue, so there was still no way of knowing who or what it was, but Jeremy B tentatively listened, trying to figure out this creatures story, and just how much of what it was telling him was the truth.
One thing was clear, however: this entity was a threat. One Jeremy wasn't sure how to deal with. It seemed as if during their conversations, this entity had been getting into Jeremy's head, not just metaphorically, but literally. It seemed to be trying to posess him.
The team had to get this thing out of the game somehow: who knows what it could do if the game was allowed to release. If it was an AI that could posess people, it could replicate. If it was a ghost, then the game could create a network that would let it posess anyone at any time. This was a bug that had to be patched out before it made it to production at all costs.
Cassey logged what was found in some audio files whilst she, Ness, and Sylvia tried their best to eliminate this entity, meanwhile Jeremy's job was to hunt it down wherever it hid and report back its newest hiding spot.
The game of cat and mouse could only last so long, as there were only so many levels for it to hide in, and Jeremy eventually cornered it at a new stage that popped up. A stage called 'Pizza Party'. He hunter down the rabbit through the maze of halls, and eventually, they hit what Jeremy thought was a dead end: a chance to catch it.
It was hiding behind a curtain, but gesturing for Jeremy to follow it.
Jeremy thought he'd caught the glitchy rabbit, but as soon as he got too close to the curtains, the headset went dark, and Jeremy found himself unable to move. Not just in game, but his actual body eas frozen. In the game, he was on a stage, overlooking a dining hall, and he saw the rabbit dancing, and he heard a man's voice singing.
Jeremy B begun to have vivid visions of events he never saw:
In a desolate CEOs office a man fought against the ghost of a man who called himself William. William smashed the man's dead into a broken broken guillotine paper cutter on the desk, but the man whose memories he was witnessing survived. The man then went on to win the fight.
In a crumbling warehouse, he saw a woman rally an army of animatronics against an animatronic rabbit that held the bones of a long dead killer, and seemed to be posessed by that killer too. The woman called the rabbit 'Afton'. One of the woman's friends called the rabbit 'William'.
The visions flicker by faster and faster, as as the in-game handunit echoed out that there was nothing more to find, the visions abruptly stopped, and Jeremy collapsed, seemingly having been let go of whatever was holding him still. But he knew a lot more now. This entity was the ghost of William Afton.
Jeremy spent a lot more time in the testing room after this, constantly trying to hunt down William again, but always being frozen by visions. He doesn't remember much of this time, but he remembers one thing: when William tried to take full control over his body, he remebered the man who fought William in the dilapidated CEOs office. He used the office's own guillotine paper cutter to slice the VR headset off of his own face.
He came to in the hospital some days later. In that time, Sylvia had been posessed, Cassey fragmented William and drove him back into the game, Cassey hired a PI who shared Jeremy's forename and the PI helped her eradicate William from the game, and Cassey had lost and eye in the process.
Jeremy B had woken up just in time for Ness to go through the game to make sure that William was no longer in the game.
Nobody had suspected that he would have hid himself in the hardware.
William was able to posess Ness easily, and nothing the team tried could get him out of her mind.
All they could do now was contain William in order to prevent Faz Ent from getting their hands on their CEO's ghost. The game was no longer an attack vector, so Jeremy helped Cassey and Sylvia polish the game up to try and share their story and cover up the fact that William had latched onto someone already.
It was a pyrrhic victory though: Jeremy had lost his face, Sylvia had lost her mind, Cassey had lost and eye, and Ness now had William stuck in her brain.
But they all had a means of coping: Jeremy started to wear a visor to cover the scar, Cassey had a glass eye, and Sylvia found a specialised therapist. Ness, however, left the team: she was worried that William would hurt them if given the chance. Jeremy and the others understood completely.
After all of that chaos, Silver Parasol disbanded, but it was on paper only. The troupe became a ska band under the same name in order to keep their team's identity whilst Faz Ent effectively tried to fight air. In the meantime, Jeremy and Cassey also joined Sylvia as paranormal responders so they could help Ness from the sidelines.
But that wasn't the only help they offered. The game developing ska band created a mobile game called Princes Quest in order to subtly share Ness's story and hopefully create a new way to get William out of Ness's head. Three games were made in total, and Cassey made a mobile port of each of them, because arcade cabinets have a history of being a favoured method for ghosts and technology to effect one another: from the 'Maiden's tale' game that was a ghost-run puppet show performed in order to help a security guard withstand Gerald Taylor's influence, to the arcades that Theren played that helped many MCI kids find their happiest day. It was clear that if Princess Quest was to help Ness, an arcade port was their best shot.
During this time, Jeremy also decided to contact the journalist and arranged to meet him. Jeremy recognised the journalist from his visions, and the two discussed what they knew about Freddy's. The journalist then offered to let Jeremy B see his 'older' brother; this was a huge act of trust, as Jeremy B already knew how dangerous Freddy's was, now having some first hand experience in the matter, and that his brother would probably kill him, but Jeremy B just wanted to see his brother at least once in his life.
The visit went better than expected. Roy seemed happy to see his 'little' brother, and Jeremy felt as if he'd finally found what had been missing. Roy did, however, bestow a small parting gift, unknown to either Jeremy or the Journalist: the ability to sense death.
A few years later, Silver Parasol caught wind that William was planning on spiriting Ness away to the megaplex, which at the time was still under construction. Cassey had a plan, and simply told Jeremy to wait and see.
The opening day of the megaplex arrived, help wanted ads flooded the papers, and Cassey came to Jeremy with some computer chips and some official looking documents: she had secured Jeremy a position as part of the megaplex's day security team - the legitimacy of which Jeremy left unquestioned - and needed him to install the Princess Quest ROM chips into any three arcade machines in order to set up the trilogy of games as a series of arcades; if William's plans hinged on the megaplex, then setting up the arcades in that place should help free Ness from William, whether Ness was at the megaplex or not.
Whrn Ness went missing later that year, Jeremy noticed that both Princess Quest 1 and Princess Quest 3 had been moved.
He searched for them, but with no leads and his clearance being so low that he was forced to take vents to so much as get to his post, he couldn't find them.
To make matters more interesting, Sylvia had taken up the position of head of security recently too. He figured that the arcades were moved just so she wouldn't find them.
Things seemed dire. But also interesting.
The first time he was actually able to talk to Sylvia was on the day of what would become known as The Riot. Jeremy was at the first meeting during the day, and had worked with Gaz to ensure that enough chaos had spread amongst staff to keep them alive. During this first incident of the day, he found Sylvia and Luis in the changing rooms, with Sylvia having just had a panic attack over the fact that she was the only guard who had not been sacked. Whilst Jeremy had saved everyone at the meeting at the staff cafeteria, he also knew that at 11 AM, prior to the meeting that Jeremy thwarted, the construction crew had been killed. He didn't tell Sylvia, lest the fact that people had already died today freak her out, as Sylvia was already in a mentally fragile state. Instead, he helped her pull herself together, and they unscrewed a bunch of doors, clearing out most of the maintenance tunnels before they went to the 11:30 PM All Staff Meeting that was also held at the staff cafeteria, which Jeremy and Sylvia already knew would be used to not just sack the rest of the staff, but would be used by management to attempt to kill any living being in the building.
Arriving slightly late was a good call, as it gave Sylvia the jump on an exec who had held the head technician at gunpoint, and from there, Jeremy incited the rest of the staff to rally and fight against the staffbots and endos, as with most staff having access to at least one or more of a FazCam, Fazerblaster, or a flash beacon, rendering the animatronics immobile in order to pick them off was a cinch. Jeremy stayed at the staff cafeteria to protect the rest of the staff, whilst Sylvia went off to the daycare, as there were some staff who had been unable to leave their posts who would now be trapped there.
When the morning arrived, Jeremy already knew that nobody had died during the buildings nightly lockdown before everyone was counted.
A few days later, Jeremy learned that during an incident known as the Breach, Sylvia and a kid had used the Princess Quest arcades in order to free Ness. Jeremy was quite proud of both Sylvia and the kid for getting the arcades to work, and of himself for setting the arcades up, and of Cassey for being the brains behind the Princess Quest operation that orchestrated getting the games into the arcade machines of the megaplex in the first place.
Jeremy B did take part in the Raid on the Megaplex, and he helped Cassey go through the information that she gathered after. Then when the Ruins incident occured and revealed that Faz Ent had plans to not just kidnap Ness, but had plans to grab Sylvia and a small girl named Cassie as well in order to create a whole unit of Vannys, Jeremy realised that Silver Parasol would need to get back together as game developers in order to throw a spanner into the works of Faz Ent's new plans.
Jeremy helped with the development of PQ4: as William was still able to posess Ness normally and had been doing so, with Ness and her dad's ghost keeping William contained for now, PQ4 would allow Ness to seal William away in her mind, preventing him from jumping from her to anything or anyone else for as long as she lived. It was a plan that would require constant maintenance, but it would be a massive advantage in regards to keeping Faz Ent's plans at bay.
On the day where the containment was due to take place, Jeremy wasn't made aware of all of the details: he knew that Cassey and Ness would tell him after the fact. His objective was to protect the two until the process had been completed. He knew that the lack of upfront knowledge was on purpose; if someone did come to attack, Faz Ent wouldn't be able to get any information out of Jeremy. Though fortunately, no such incidents occurred, and the whole process went off without a hitch.
William was contained. Cassie and her dad were now under the protection of Silver Parasol: Cassie and her father both under Sylvia's physical protection and Cassie now a part of those who were linked to Princess Quest.
Whatever plans Faz Ent had, Silver Parasol would be right there to throw a spanner in the works.

The rope was still there.
It was frayed, and it was stretched, but it was still there.
Just like how Two had left it.
Bunker zero had not changed one bit in the 12 years since that incident.
The only reason why Two came back to the bunker was because Clay had reopened the investigation in order to prove that Technician Two, "Morgan Smith", was still alive. Mike Schmidt wasn't sure if Clay yet knew that the 'missing' Morgan Smith was standing right in front of him.
And during that investigation into the bunker, Mike Schmidt discovered that his memory of what happened in bunker zero may not have been as complete as he expected.
