I HATE tiktok and the Internet in general rn for the obsession with "oh this person's smellyyy" "Brother it STINKS over here" "BOO 💧🧼🧽🚿" and stuff like that. I wish I could put into words how demeaning and patronising that whole idea is and people implying anyone they don't like doesn't wash.
For one there's something grating about being insulted in a manner like we're in nursery again. But also WHY is that the go to insult. Why do you associate these things? Especially to those you deem "chronically online". Like I don't want to sound pathetic but it feels so nasty to me.
is it extreme to say this feels tied to ableism? And classism too?
#“take a shower” me sitting here with depression and no will to even move rn. That doesnt make me feel worse or anything#dry to wet change is also evil. and i get decision paralysis a lot and just struggle to motivate myself to do basic human tasks#and thats just me#what about the people with physical disabilities that struggle to find the energy and strength to do these things#And also like environmental factors too?#like kids can be unhygienic cause they arent being cared for and learning properly#people with learning disabilities and neurodiversity too may struggle with not being taught properly as its a “basic thing everyone knows”#people are homeless karen.#people cant afford to wash regularly#people grow up or are forced to live in unhygienic places and surrounded by smokers and alcoholics#people who are smokers and alcoholics and generally people with addiction can smell#people with health issues that cause them to sweat more#Like the list goes on#but idk maybe I'm just sensitive#anti anti#profiction#proship#neurodivergent#cringe culture#ableism#classism

Am I the only one that feels like NTs HATE saying 'I don't know.'
You will not believe the amount of times I'll ask a basic objective question about a situation and they'll give me an answer, only for later the answer to be completely wrong. And then when I ask them why they would give me wrong information - they say 'I just guessed.'
I didn't ask you for your guess. I asked for the information. If you didn't have the information don't just GUESS. Say 'I don't know.'
I feel like NT don't realize that WRONG information is worse than no information.
If I want to know when an event will end and you say '5pm' - I'm going to be mentally prepared for 5pm. And if it DOESN'T end then, not only will I be out of energy, but I'll be irritated and confused because I'm in an unfamiliar situation with NO INFORMATION
Had you just told me 'I don't know what time it ends' instead of GUESSING 5, then I would've prepared for the worse. But now I have to literally rearrange everything in my head and talk myself down from meltdown cause I was given inaccurate information and also I thought I was going home.
But they act instead like saying I don't know is a moral failure.
My father used to yell at me all the time to not say 'I don't know.'
He'd always demand I figure it out and come up with SOMETHING no matter how uninformed or vague and that's how you have NTs walking around feeling like it's a crime to admit they simply don't know something
and instead they'll just shamble something together and hope that's good enough regardless of whether in the information is actually helpful or correct.
IT'S SO ANNOYING. JUST SAY YOU DON'T KNOW.
Stop guessing and giving me WRONG information because it only makes the situation worse and more confusing. Say you don't KNOW. It's FINE.
#ro rants#neurotypicals communicate clearly challenge#today on: actually NT are the ones with empty and illogical communication patterns#I refuse to believe I'M the disordered one when they're the ones acting on no logic whatsoever#stop trying to protect your ego and just Be Normal and tell me what I need to know#'Autistics are bad at communication cause they're too blunt and rude-'#or maybe.. you just have no idea how to speak clearly#neurodivergent#actually autistic#autism#audhd#neurodivergency#neurodiversity#actually audhd#actually autism#actually adhd#autistic

Question!
Neurodivergent peeps of Tumblr, I have a question.
I know that "nonverbal" or "selectively mute" are specific terms that mean "I cannot force words out no matter how hard I try," so... is there a term for "I can speak if I have to, but right now it requires extra energy?"
Like, I'm autistic. I have times where I can speak and even hold conversations, but stringing a verbal sentence together takes effort, the same kind of effort lifting a heavy load with your body would but in your mind. I can be perfectly eloquent and verbose in text when this happens, and sometimes I'll even make some of the limited signs I know in ASL without an issue, but speaking aloud uses up all my mental RAM and I can feel the metaphorical fans of my mind-computer whirring in overdrive. X3;
It's exhausting, too. Usually if I've been verbally social for a while, that's when it kicks in.
I can understand spoken words just as well as other times when this happens, as long as I don't have to speak to reply. If I have to speak, the mental effort and stamina needed to do it tends to push details aside in an endeavor to save processing power. ^^;
I know autism is a spectrum, and I'm hoping someone might have a name for this "not QUITE nonverbal but verbal words are VERY hard right now" feeling ^^; "Partially nonverbal" or "partially selectively mute" doesn't seem quite right.
Help?
#question#neurodivergence#autism#selective mutism#nonverbal#selectively mute#neurodivergent#sometimes I pretend I've lost my voice if I need to go in public when I'm in that headspace#folks are a lot more kind toward 'I lost my voice'#than 'speaking is REALLY HARD right now'#I just want to be able to use the right words for my experience#and maybe find some help#sometimes I write letters to give like my doctor or something if I worry I'm going to go words-hard during an appointment#doctors have actually been really happy about it and kept the letters for my records#because even neurotypical folks forget things during an appointment!#writing things you want to discuss out on paper beforehand helps!#but dang#sometimes for more spontaneous situations I wish I had a text to speech device#because if I try to talk while I'm like that I sound 100x stupider than I actually am

I don't understand the hype around "neurodivergence." I don't get it. I don't get what you guys are talking about. What do you mean when you say "neurodivergent?" Do you just mean "thinks differently than everyone else?" Okay, well, everyone thinks differently than everyone else. We're all unique; nobody's interior world is exactly the same as everyone else's. So what is neurodivergence?
Some people talk about it like it's meant specifically to refer to people who are on the "autism spectrum" but that's not how I'm seeing y'all use it. Online, people say "autistic" and "neurodivergent" in sentences and contexts where the word "creative" or "artistic" or simply "unique-personality" would work better as descriptive words.
And what's a little more perplexing is the...romanticization of it. I just made a post about Mulan, the character, talking about how well-done her character trait of "creativity" is, and someone reblogged it and said she was "neurodivergent." When the whole point of the post is that she was creative: she solves problems with her own unique spin. That doesn't mean other characters in that movie don't also have a unique spin--Mushu ties tomatoes to her arrows to cheat at training. Is he "neurodivergent" too, or just creative? Why do you say "neurodivergent" when you mean "creative?"
What's going on here? Explain it to me, if you're more knowledgeable than I am and I'm just ignorant. Because really, I'd be glad to hear that it's not just one more case of our internet-drunk society creating an exclusive sub-culture with no reasonably defined traits to idealize and identify with.
#Neurodivergent#discussion#neurodivergency#neurodiverse#maybe I'm just out of my depth here#autistic#it feels like words are over here losing their useful meanings again#Mulan

Edel dying and becoming Uzura is one of the most powerful things to me in Princess Tutu to me. She is a great parallel to Mytho. Mytho loses his emotions. He lives without them, and he has to learn how to deal with them again when he get's them back. Edel never had feelings. She never got to learn. She had to be reborn to properly learn her emotions. Some day I want to do a breakdown of this because Edel and Uzura are the same but different. I think Uzura joining Drosselmeyer at the end is also really important. She fulfills the same job as Edel, but now she is her own person. Unlike Edel who was always told she is a puppet without emotions and had come to "pretend" to have emotions, Uzura is a girl with emotions first and informed she's a puppet second. I truly believe Edel had emotions because she has no logical reason to do what she did if she didn't care for the main cast. She even died expressing a want to see Mytho and Princess Tutu dance together. Wanting something is an emotion even if Edel says it is all pretend. I believe Edel was compartmentalizing her feelings because of her identity as "just a puppet." Uzura is a second chance. Uzura gets to feel freely. Being a puppet isn't something to hold her back. She loves. She's curious. She's a person.
As someone who has highly compartmentalized their emotions to the point where they have trouble identifying that they have emotions, Edel and Uzura are so special to me. When I have tried to start feeling again, I often get called childish and told I'm overreacting. This has led me to stop trying to feel and go back to compartmentalizing. I think this is why Edel had to die for Uzura to get to feel. Because only a child is allowed to deconstruct emotion like that. I love the little wooden dolls. They are everything to me.
#i'm tired#sorry if this doesn't make sense#maybe after my rewatch i'll have put together thoughts#this and my aro rue posts may eventually exist#but maybe they will just stay nebulous ideas#also my roommate would def call me autistic for this#i am peer reviewed neurodivergent#princess tutu#ptutu#text post#miss edel#uzura#ptutu uzura#ptutu edel

I kinda wonder what it is about ultrakill that uh (how do I say this without being an asshole) that attracts so many systems (?)
I like statistics so I wanna like, study what it is about certain games or series that seems to collect folks like that. Is it how the fandom treats a piece of media? Is it the demographic? I donno!
Like if we all just decided to treat doom 2016 the same way we treat ultrakill would introjects n stuff start popping up over there too? (I picked doom cause it's a bloody shoot em up with religious undertones and insano angst potential, but feel free to insert any other game here too) I'm just genuinely curious about it all
-
#ultrakill confessions#ultrakill#I think it entirely depends on the audience something markets itself towards#Ultrakill markets itself towards queer people which have a lot of overlap with neurodivergence (including mental illnesses like OSDD/DID)#Autistic and ADHD hyperfixations can lead to newly formed alters in a system pulling from media (since dissociation is a coping mechanism-#-and too much dissociation in early developmental stages leads to dissociative disorders both with and without alters -#- and hyperfixations usually end up being sources of comfort if someone is currently dealing with stressful occurrences)#I'm not entirely a professional but I love psychology (it's one of my special interests) so I may as well ramble a little bit here :3#Classic games (including DOOM afaik) have historically marketed themselves towards a cishet masculine male™ audience#The stuff I've seen of classic game marketing is very “cool guy”-esque and not really “traumatized gay”#I've noticed a lot of Rain World fans end up being fictionkin or systems though (and that also has religious themes but more in a Buddhist-#-than Christian way)#But maybe there's a pattern there? At this point I'm just rambling lol sorry if I'm a little incohesive

Tryna get advice for anything to do with your own schizospec disorder on Google be like:
"tHe 4 SuBtYpEs:" "PaRaNoiD sChiZoPhReNiA" "Healthline" "WebMd" "My schizophrenic mother was an abusive a-hole so now i will NEVER trust another schizospec again"
We get that you are hurting but we are not your mum and we are hurting too!
#literally someone said that#and just all the Reddit results were about surviving your schizophrenic mother#😡#like I'm sorry that happened to you but we are by no means all the same!!!#saneism#tw saneism#tw ableism#schizospec#psychoticspec#actually schizospec#actually psychotic#somedays the stigma just feels more real and alienating#especially when you have to hear it in slurs at the mental illness group you were put in that is anxiety & depression centric#bc not much long-term support let alone acceptance exists for actual first-hand sufferers of schizospec/psychosis#so they leave us to just remain scapegoated/the so-called villains/demons of society#the joys of Quora eh#actually traumatized#actually neurodivergent#disabled#disability#SchizAuSpec#mental health awareness#mental health#mental illness#actually mentally ill#psychosis#schizophrenia#schizoaffective#a similar thing exists for autistic adults (esp late-DXed adult women/AFAB) in which we are seemingly forever a child#or maybe they think we simply grow out of autism? or maybe that we become someone else's problem after 18 i guess?

the more I think about it and rewatch his scenes, the more I cannot help but realize that Colin is coded as a neurodivergent character. At least, I can very clearly see how Luke Newton, a neurodivergent actor, is playing Colin as a neurodivergent character
a special interest in Greek mythology? in traveling? neurodivergent
taking people's word at face value without 'reading between the lines'? neurodivergent
not being able to read Penelope's feelings regardless of how 'obvious' they are? neurodivergent
brain constantly bouncing around from one idea to the next (as in the books)? neurodivergent
not saying the 'right thing' and admitting to having to rehearse important conversations? neurodivergent
all that rejection sensitivity and regret he had well over a year after his engagement blew up? neurodivergent
masking in public? the whole 'charming facade'? neurodivergent
the man straight up STIMS, I mean how often do we see him fidgeting or playing with something? he has an oral fixation like no one's business, always eating, rubbing his mouth, licking his lips
I just can't unsee it
and, one day, i hope our fandom is going to be ready to recognize how many of the things we've unjustly called him an 'idiot' or 'stupid' for is actually just him existing with a neurodivergent brain and how hurtful that can come across to us neurodivergent peeps who identify with him
#colin bridgerton#polin#bridgerton#luke newton himself has ADHD like i'd eat my HAT if he's not playing colin as ND#sure maybe colin doesn't have the words for that in the time period he's in. . .but nd folks have always existed#even when the language for us doesn't#hell. . .even his reaction in S2 when no one is interested in hearing about his travels#TELL ME THAT'S NOT AN ND RESPONSE??? how many of us have infodumped about our special interest#and had no one listen to us? it really does hurt!!! it discourages!!! and we get upset about it just like he did!!!#we stop talking about it *just like he did*#we dismiss it- JUST! LIKE! HE DID!!!!#anyway 'colin bridgerton is an idiot' is my villain origin story#we're leaving that shit in 2023#colin bridgerton is a chaotic little gremlin is SO much better of a trope#also also cause it's just on my (neurodivergent) brain.#a lot of the polin shippers who have been made to feel unwelcome in polin tend to be colin fans. . .and a lot of us are nd#inch resting#colin is a neurodivergent character#he is my baby boy#and i'm tired of the ableism#and even if he ISN'T explicitly ND- a lot of the behaviors we call him stupid for. . .are relatable to many ND people#and seeing the reaction be a blind 'he's so dumb' is really sad#we're not stupid- our brains just work and process differently#that's all

i have seen a lot of headcanons (& fics!) about bucky doing crochet or knitting that i LOVE but i also need everyone to consider --
steve watching his mother doing irish crochet; maybe she even teaches him some simple things when he's sick and needs something to occupy him so he'll sit still and rest; its a creative outlet for sarah and that artistic streak is something she and steve share almost a century later, crochet comes back into fashion with millennials and gen-z, and steve looks up a youtube tutorial. he doesn't have many physical things left from his mom; but he can make some stuff that she would have loved and it helps him feel close to her.
#marvel#steve rogers#bucky barnes#stucky#ive been thinking about this a LOT lately#ive been looking at a lot of vintage crochet patterns lately and it had me thinking about sarah rogers and the fact that this would 100%#have been something she was exposed to/taught as a young girl. ofc as a single mother she wouldn't have had a lot of free time.#but making little things here and there as a hobby is far from out of the question#also since i hc steve as neurodivergent (adhd and possibly autistic) its entirely possible sarah was too#and crochet is just. such a good stim.#also lots and lots of headcanons about steve getting bored when he was sick#sitting in bed is BORING and im sure at least a few sketchbooks were filled that way#but maybe also a mother who is desperate to get her small child to calm down so his body can heal. will go “hey wanna see what i'm making?”#ik everyone has headcanons about bucky doing traditionally feminine stuff and sees steve as more traditionally masculine#bc that was gatekept from him bc of his disabilities#but let me have this

the fact that i don't think i could ever truly in my life be bored or unfulfilled as a single person on my own.
like i'll never run out of books i want to read, tv shows and movies i want to watch, things i want to write, fan communities to join and participate in, hobbies i want to take up.
the way (alongside my job) all of those things totally fill my cup. it's never empty.
and i have my audhd to thank for that.
#audhd#neurodivergence#thinking out loud#abbie.txt#like i'm actively dating atm and i'm v open to finding love but also this will never not be true#maybe that's why i'm so particular and never really have long term relationships#it has to be so right competing against the joy i find in the independence of just doing this all the time to feel worth doing to me

It sure is something to listen to an album that really rips you open as a chronically ill (probably) neurodivergent person in a good way and then hearing about how a Pitchfork review called it "unrelatable" and overly emotional.
Well, professional critic, you may not get it. But she's speaking to me specifically.
#the probably for “not formally diagnosed and still not sure if I want to be” reasons#anyway if you are neurodivergent and chronically ill go listen to the Great Impersonator#I know I'm not the only one who feels seen by it#shockingly the professional critic doesn't get having songs throughout the album asking God to make you not sick#idk maybe he just hasn't had the feeling
