SWORDTEMBER DAY 2: STONE

Forgotten Prophecy, of old magic and unfulfilled destiny 👑🪨 Long after the last monarch was slain, and their golden blood wiped from the flagstones, we can still hear the echoes of their voices. Burrowed deep into the stones and the dirt, their magic is stubborn, outliving its parents. Like a parasite, writhing under the skin, ripping it out can only do more harm than good.

SWORDTEMBER DAY 1: TEETH

Greatmaw, of warm skin and gnawing hunger 🦷👁️ Warm, wet flesh wraps between your fingers. I feel your hesitation, the hot breath against your salty skin. A hunger aches from the deepest part of me, the part of me that is cold, and metal. My teeth, suddenly, feel so dry, my lips chapped and bleeding. How long have I been this thirsty? From the back of my throat, I feel myself salivate.

What’s the noun form you use to describe how comfortable something is?

Because in fibercrafting/textiles/fashion content I see online, I keep hearing a completely different form than the one I’m used to, and I don’t know if it’s an age thing, a field thing, or something else.

For example, changing a design element or the fiber content might change how comfortable a garment is — it impacts the _______ of the garment.

On the brink of possibilities

June 1, 1986

Well, here it is, June 1. I’m again in Huntington Beach, California visiting Doug and Kevin. The month I turn 31 is here. Sounds oh so old and mature , doesn’t it? So, enjoy 30 while you may! Long drive down through the beautiful San Joaquin valley heat. Smelled the aroma of roses passing  the Delano Winery. Had a good talk with Doug  regarding  life changes. He said “Change now. You have another  5 to 8 years before it’s too late. After that, you’ll be too old to hold a job and prepare for retirement." And, a move to a metropolitan area might enhance the chance of a male-male relationship. It would b less detectible. He said that I should try such a relationship. I said that I wouldn’t know how to begin. He said it will be like any other relationship in your life has been. I feel happy. On the brink of possibilities. Content in the now.

I met Frank and Forest at Doug's. There was talk of AIDs deaths. They know 5 who have died of AIDs.

In a 5/21/1988 margin note to the above entry, I wrote: “Doug has always been my great benevolent guide. I listen to him. 

I wrote in the same margin note: “I heard a guy the other night on the radio say he knew 69  people who had died of AIDs.”

Note: 9/2/2025.  

This is an interesting entry in that, Doug was counseling me on how to enter a male to male relationship and in the same visit his friends were discussing people they knew  who had died of AIDs. I couldn’t enter a relationship with another man without working with the possibility of HIV exposure. Relationships in 1986 were a potential life and death game. There was no cure for AIDs at that time. 

Doug was a friend I met in law school. Kevin was his gay partner for many years. I lost track of them in the late 1990s. But, Doug, and later Kevin, played a huge role in my life for 20 years.
