Converting Fem-Frame Mesh to Masc-Frame

This tutorial assumes you have basic knowledge on blender and sims4studio, so i won’t go over basic things. As always, you’ll need to export the mesh you wish to convert first. Next, open it in blender and switch into edit mode.

Hit ‘UV sync selection’ to make the work easier.

Now, with the ‘L’ key, select only the body parts and separate with the ‘P’ key. Your mesh should look like this:

Then, hide the body (hit ‘H’ key or hit the eye icon in the outliner tab) and import the needed male body mesh. If your object is only a top or only a bottom you may not need the whole male mesh, but just to be safe, I prefer importing both regardless for a better view of how the weights look later.

Before editing the mesh, make sure to merge by distance so nothing breaks or gets crunchy in the sculpting step.

The Main Event:

aka sculpting the mesh to the male body. Go into sculpt mode and select ‘elastic deform tool’, either through the button itself or the keys ‘shift+space 8’. Then make sure to select ‘mirror: x’ in the symmetry tab so that everything you do on one side occurs on the other to keep it all even.

If all's well, when you move around the mesh, your cursor should look like this:

You may need to switch between ‘material view’ and ‘solid’ with x-ray on as shown in my recording to get a good look and keep everything proportional. 

Before moving onto weights, I usually look back at the original female body to see what parts were deleted as an outline for how I will now delete parts from the male body. Visually, the easiest way for me to do this is I select both bodies, with the female pre-highlighted and the male unselected, and then select parts while holding the shift key.

Separate and hide the other meshes, leaving you with something like this:

If you don't see any holes anywhere, we can now move onto weight painting.

Weights

 The first thing you want to do is to look for the cas-breast weights and delete them. Theyre not needed and will only fuck up things later LOL.

Now, go to the ‘spine_1’ weight, it’ll probably look like that, which we dont want. So hit the button ‘weights’ and select ‘normalize all’ as such :

After this point, weight painting is very dependent on the mesh itself, so, the most I can say is to un-hide the rig and rotate various bones to ensure the clothes move properly and/or don’t clip anywhere. If it does, those are the weights you'll need to fix.

When youre done, merge both meshes together and import it. Once it's imported, youll wanna export it again to fix the uv_1.

Why? Because we merged vertices earlier and that impacts the way the uv_1 turns out. Seeing lines go across every side of the mesh negatively impacts the way itll morph on the body in-game. Everything has to fit correctly. Example of a not well uv_1:

Once the mesh is re-imported, separate the body from the dress/clothes so the uv_1 editing happens /only/ to the clothes. Add a complete male mesh again, select your outfit and go to modifier properties and select ‘data transfer’. Make yours look like this:

After applying it, it should look something like this:

And now you're free to combine the two meshes and to merge by distance again!!

Finally, import and check how it looks in game. It's usually never perfect the first time…

How did this dress turn out? Well, like I said, its imperfect still but looks like this in-game atm:

Qimir and you originally met when you entered his shop to buy something for an illness you were experiencing.

From his perspective, a pretty customer--wide-eyed, slightly frazzled, but sincere--comes in walking in like a blown-in dandelion, and his brain halts at a blank. All of his senses were taking you in except for sound. He was picking up on your scent, taking in your appearance, trying to taste your fragrance like a madman, all the while he couldn’t hear a thing coming out of your rosy lips.

There are no quippy jokes, clever back and forths, or sarcastic upselling. He just saw someone with shining eyes and an unintentional constant pout to their lips as they explained their problem and he was just staring.

Through what he heard when he finally checked back in, you chose to entrust him with your health because of what you heard through grapevines and gossip which led him to take on a deep sense of responsibility to get what he was making down to the right gram.

From your perspective, you didn’t expect the apothecary to be so breathtaking. You expected to meet the face of an age-old man who you’d have to convince to take your symptoms seriously. So when you had materialized at the first jingle of the door and you saw Qimir look up, you’d almost waited for his master to come walking out of a room. Even as you spoke, you sort of hoped it would still happen since his sharp features but kind eyes were too overwhelming for your sensitive self to stomach. If he was to be your saving grace, you feared that your timidness to his aura would have you killed before a progression in your condition did.

Through nervous small talk from you and shaking hands that only Qimir could feel, he works on something as you watch with a look that could only have him describe you as a rabbit. In the end, he fervently insists that you return for weekly refills since swore he could only make so much with the supplies that he had. This was untrue. But you were so dazzled by the way parts of his warm hand ghosted yours when he passed the medication that you didn’t even think twice about it.

By a few months, you both had established an unspoken comfort that resided between each of your meetings. 

You were expected to call ahead so that Qimir could ensure it was just him and you in the shop. Your appreciation for the gesture made you believe that he was entirely selfless but let Qimir tell it and it would be the most selfish thing he did once a week. The days would meander as he spent time forgetting faces until he’d get a call in which in that moment, the time ran like a jackrabbit. 

There was a night when you called so late that the sun had already set and he was already in bed. He picked it up without a second thought and felt his spine turn into water when he heard you on the other end profusely apologizing. The name of the game was reassurance and patience as he tried to keep you talking. He so effortlessly did it that you would almost believe him when he said he didn’t mind the call if you didn’t feel immense guilt.

Qimir spent the time listening to you ramble about the series of unfortunate events that had led you to break your medicine vials and lose your travel ticket. The way your weak voice spoke and the shaking in your cadence made it clear to anyone who cared--so Qimir--that you had just been crying. 

“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” you heard from the other end. He waited for you to come down from your panic while twistedly picturing how beautiful you must have looked when you cried. Red eyes, clinging lashes, and swollen lips flashed across his mind just for him to say “I know a guy who can get you a much sooner ticket and when you come here tomorrow I’ll make you more. Free of charge. How does that sound?”

Another good amount of back and forth was spent with you refusing his generosity until his persistent rejection of your rejection caved you. Sure, you felt unworthy of the offer but you also were terrible at resisting the way he sounded over the phone. 

It was in that moment that Qimir determined to make you his permanent problem. From his perspective, he couldn’t stay just your good friend, but he wanted you to see him as the lighthouse that you were a permanent resident of. He was transfixed on the image of you and him together.

Did Qimir actually know a guy? No, but he wasn’t going to find a guy since he knew how to be both hell and high water.

On another one of your later visits, you made some remarks about your uncomfortable trip to his store as his hair curtain his face while he worked. 

Qimir saw this as a rare window of opportunity to take advantage of the trust between the both of you.

“You know, long trips are taxing on the body,” he said as he was dicing a specific plant.

“How else do you expect me to get here?” you teased as you layed your head on the counter and watched him so focused. It was when you liked watching him most. 

This was now routine for the both of you. You would pretend like you weren’t watching the way his biceps flexed and his brows knitted together when he was focused. All the while, Qimir was trying to use every bit of his self-control not to drown in your fresh scent and the warmth that came from your close body. If he didn’t use every bit of the discipline he was taught, he would have devoured once for every time he looked up to find you desperately trying to look anywhere else out of shyness.

“You’d walk here if you just lived in the city,” he told you while peeking through his lashes.

You sighed as you waited for another lecture from him that he practically had memorized but it never came which surprised you. He was playing offensive this time.

“The city is expensive,” you said.

“Hm” he quirked a brow in acknowledgment as he kept dicing. Although he was calculating, he loved the way your voice sounded when you were passionate.

“And who knows if I’ll find somewhere to live on such short notice.”

“So stay here.” he dropped so casually as he went to grab something off of a high shelf.

“Huh?” That was new.

Qimir didn’t say anything until he came back. He made his way back to the counter and leaned over it. You felt so scattered as you watched his striking features get closer as you swallowed. He was intentionally playing dirty.

“Stay here and you can work in the shop in exchange.” When he shrug so nonchalantly, strands of his hair framed his face so well.

“Qi-Qimir,” you manage to get out. “You don’t want me here,” you joked trying to get out of his intense soul-eating eyes. However, he took your hands as you tried to lean back into the chair you were sitting in.

“What makes you say that?” You almost lost your breath at the way he lifted his brow.

“You really want to become roommates with a customer?” you said only half teasing.

The way his expression shifted like a cloud had gone over him. You wondered if you had said something wrong. With his thumb, he made circles in your hands as he straightened out the fabric of your shirt. He was still silent as you held your breath until he said, “Did you really think I’d empty out a store on a weekly basis for just some customer?” His voice was steady as he practically loomed over you from across the table.

You had no response to his words but you were getting hot in the face.

“I don’t even answer Osha’s calls in the middle night,” he laughed. The way that he went back to his light demeanor and the smile that eclipsed his eyes gave you enough whiplash to say stupidly vomit “alright” without any clue as to what you were signing up for.

Nanago but gojo wins every strength based competition he and nanami have, only thru significant effort, because if it was literally anyone else he would've dogwalked them. If everyone lasts 1 second to him in an arm wrestling contest, nanami would last like-- 3 to 5 seconds. Which is a lot, considering gojo

Nanago but nanami could literally hold gojo on the palm of his hand. Like. Gojo is straight up standing on the palm of his hand. Could do backflips on that tiny surface with how stable he is.

A nanago where both of them are strong but nanami is stronger-ish than gojo is SO GOOD TO ME

Because like it makes sense!! IT MAKES SO MUCH FUCKING SENSEEE-- Both in his love and dedication to gojo, and in story

The first part is p obvious, hes much too caring and responsible to let gojo waste away and be taken advantage of by the higher ups. Hell knows that nanamis gone thru enough of that being a salaryworker taken advantage of and worked to the ground by his superiors. He's righteous, and wants only the best for himself and his loved ones--if theyre in a bad place and he can do something abt it, u bet ur ass hes gonna do it, even if it wont do much

2nd part is less obvious but will deffo hit u in the face like a sack of bricks if u think abt it. Nanami’s technique, Ratio, relies entirely on him and his own strength. Because while yes, you can make a weak point, what does it matter if you cant hit it properly? If you cant hit it hard enough? Its like going into a boss fight where the bbeg has a giant red glowing weak point. Yeah sure itll do decent damage if you hit it with a level 1 weapon, but if you hit it with a maxxed out weapon-- then holy hell baby, youre going to the races. So OF COURSE, nanami would get built like a brick shit house. He needs to to properly utilize it and bring out its full potential

I JUST--

Nanago where gojo is still the strongest but nanami wants to shoulder some of gojos impossible and back-breaking responsibilities on his own shoulders, so he becomes his own version of "The Strongest" in his own way

A rousing victory on all fronts!!

This is the best outcome that 3 could ever have hoped for. A Splatfest they were allowed to fight in, AND theyre winning team? Its a dream come true.

And Team Past winning is a message that they had hoped to hear for reasons that hit close to home.

On the more personal side, they chose this team because they had one good memory, one good year, and that single point in their life is going to keep them going. Theyre going to work so they can make more of that experience for themself.

Theyre a nostalgic soul. They want things to be simple like when they first turned 14 and left home.

But thats not all.

They believe that there has to be a return to form between the nations that participated in this fest. Long ago, they were all in harmony until the waters rose. Now that the nations are together again, they want them to just think of the music, the art, the food, the culture they can share with each other instead of fighting all the time.

Team past winning could be a show of a similar sentiment. Bury the hatchet. Lets hold hands like how we did it back then. Fucks sake -- most of Inkadia isnt even aware of Octaria. They were kind of just forgotten.

Inkadia is willing to open their arms again. Octaria is still a lil skittish but itll get better. They have reason to be, anyway.

Thing abt the two nations is that -- for several years now, migrations and travel have been more or less commonplace. Lots of Octarians in Inkopolis now, thanks to the platoon's help. Most people have relations with an Octarian. Inkadia didnt notice it at first. When they did though, there was apprehension. Thats where 3s peace talks come in.

Beyond the powers that be, regular Inkadians saw no reason to fear the Octarians (unless theyre part of those idiot fringe groups similar to Cuttlefish before). Theyve known these guys for years now, theres no harm.

The grandfest is Inkadia finally shaking hands with Octaria officially. Now even Octavio feels safe in bringing the dome dwellers up. Only reason he was strict with travel in the first place was his fear of Inkadians being nasty to his people.

Admittedly...yes, they were nasty to his people for a while. There was this subconcious bias/expectation that the Octarians should act a certain way to be accepted. To leave behind what made them Octarian, to blend in, assimilate. More passionate Octarians were usually excluded. There have been movements to bring light to these issues, which the platoon also participates in, and slowly but surely things changed for the better. Its not 100% perfect yet but its still moving forward.

And then team past wins?? Its like Inkadia is saying "we fucked up. Were sorry. How can we make up for it?"

It wasnt about returning to the past, (though the past that these winners fight for is a past when the two nations were in harmony) its all about learning from their mistakes to make a better present and future.

The win meant that society is acknowledging that theyve made mistakes and are willing to make up for it.

Its the best result for 3, really. They want Inkadia to face the fucking facts while they make up for everything theyve done wrong. They are an agent that relies on previous experience to get better. They observe past actions, they look at previous mistakes bit too much Ill say and think of how to improve themself (and others.)

To get better, you have to study the past. This is true for battle, and also personal growth.

3 has so much hope for the future bc of this, and they never thought theyd ever hope again.

Knowing that Inkadians are willing to do that effort really makes them believe in their nation more.

Their peace talks with the powers that be and their efforts of helping Octarians integrate with the surface Inkadians have paid off at last,,

Bc Inkadians tjemselves said that they want to make things better than how things were before

Theyre not alone in that fight anymore.

The Grizzco raids that stole a billion eggs back from the corporation was the first sign...and this win confirms their hopes.

Like when error first saw him he was screaming and crying for the hills bc it was also his first time seeing another outcode so. that reaction BUT with dream she was more filled with gentle confusion... this is a bit after she unstoned in the apple incident but still was new to au hopping and naive to most danger so they became friends!!! Questionably so.

-to elaborate, when they first meet dream is still stuck on the ideals of toxic positivity and pushing through hardship no matter what... i think this is something they eventually grow out of and dream will eventually learn to see the need for balance eventually but one of their first disputes happens when ink is running low on ink and most of whats left are the Negative Emotions within him alongside the especially strong panic that he usually feels when they get like this... dream would try to comfort him and try to say that itll work out in the end no matter what and that they just need to push through and that itll be okay like normal comforting words because dream is an empath and can sense feelings right,,i feel like its comforting in some cases but when things get Really Bad and especially when the main reserves of feelings that ink has are Negative, they heavily override his normal sense of self and i imagine they get a lot more. Snappy.... theres also the additional hc thingy of ink also really overexaggerating his feelings and overplaying them a lot for the sake of trying to feel more intensely (doesnt work, just drains him faster and will never truly feel natural to him...personally think that ink feels a lot of disconnect from his feelings) which could be considerably offputting to dream (though before adding swap to the group she thought it wass normal because she had only seen the fake pretend nice joy of the village influenced by her aura and not Genuine Feelings)

I think eventually through the years they would learn a lot from eachother...like with ink learning to be more naturally charismatic and dream learning to see past toxic positivity and have his perception on emotions change for the better (ie in learning that having different emotions are okay, so long as there is a balance)

id do alot more hcs but tbh what it boils down to is: toxic codependent yuri. intensely up and down relationship where theres an insane amount of love and attachment but also a lack of self from the both of them because they are only able to see themselves as a Thing to the other. Also exes who turned out to be besties. Thry got together and broke up wayyy before blue (they casually tell him stories about it and for the parts that he does know about he is horrified for.) Oh and they share hobbies and do parallel play alot. dream is more music oriented and can play the cello and flute. ink can play the ukelele but hes more familiar with drawing and painting duh. Also they have a garden. they love growing flowers but their favourites are sunflowers. Also have writing sessions together. Also may/may not also have beautiful princess disorder. (The both of them)

Those three words echoed loud in the cold air admist the darkness below your figure, each passing second felt more like an anomaly than the present taking over it's future. A dark whirling pressure pulls you down more, a completely dark void which surrounded you fully, an emptiness that induced fear, unknowingness, it was uncanny.

Despite the dreading pull along your feet, the same body parts you hated for walking - it walked you to your worst and hated places, it held you up when you would much rather decompose in the filth of your bed, something clung onto your hand and held you up even when the only vision you see is a complete reflection of your thoughts, empty.

Sometimes, you hated touch - that was a lie, you hate touch. You hate it when you get a hug that held no value, you hate it when others send warmth to your body, your cold, without any second thought. However, the hand that held yours somehow felt like holding a mug of hot tea, like intaking hot soup relaxingly burning down your throat.

The warmth that held you was a boy, you noticed the ivory complexion laced upon his warm hands, a different feeling than when he was wearing cold, leather gloves. "Dude- you gotta be shittin' me.." a husky voice sighs from the other side, hands deeply clung onto your own in a gravitational pull.

"I'm okay with falling! Just let me go.." you mumble, now you wouldn't have to meet expectations, or feel the dread of waking up ij the morning. You watched as the ability you were trapped in completely used your greatest fear against you; the dark.

You weren't sure how you got into this situation, when you were younger - some people were gifted with special abilities that defy science, yours was no different; but instead of joining an organization to be against or with humanity, you lived your life as somebody normal would.

Only now, your ability got sold for a high price on the black market, not only do criminals desire your skill, but government workers too; strangers from fucking hell. You were taken into the backropes of the Port Mafia, reigning from Yokohama, Japan; the wish was to transport you back to Yokohama in one piece, fuifilled by a trusted mafioso, Nakahara Chuuya.

He was like any other boy your age, he was a nice guy, actually; just in the wrongest, most immoral line of work, at the ripe age of what, sixteen?

And to you, a normal student, the normalization of superpowers was pretty crazy. Nakahara Chuuya was a shithead that showed you of that, he was chill but aggressive, moral but immoral, small but incredibly strong?

"No way I'm lettin' ya go, you're fuckin' crazy!!" he shouts, pulling your limp body up from the void, you pensively look down at the endless pit, reminicing moments where you were at peace. "I'm not crazy, you are! And stop fucking swearing!!" you scream back, dangling yourself and grasping onto the leather sleeves of his jacket.

"You stop fuckin' swearing!"

"Nuh-uh!!"

A heavy silence filled the void, and the sudden tug from his hands. "The ability uses your darkest fear against you, why the hell did you willingly fall?!" the boy shouts back, a little crack in his voice emerged, causing you to lower your eyebrows in slight embarrassment. "Because why would I keep living and fufill expectations I never asked to recieve?!" you answer, eyes flitting to every corner possible in that dark void, a star, a light - no, only his hand. "You can't be serious - I get it! Life is a bitch, doesn't mean you hafta kill yourself!" he argues, pulling you upwards as you dangle your body weight down.

"I am not killing myself!" you hiss, listening as Chuuya retorts with a scoff. "Yeah, you just let yourself fuckin' fall." he chews on his bottom lip stressfully, "Think of all the amazing shit you can live for; dogs, puppies, smoking!!"

"Gross!! Don't you know how much damage that smoking causes your lungs?!" you shout back, the sleeve of your uniform cuffing onto your held up arm. "Fine - alcohol!" Chuuya clicks his tongue, trying to find out luxuries of life. "That's disgusting! The blurry lines between a social drinker and an alcoholic are extremely thin!" the boy tightens his grip in annoyance, "What the hell do ya even like?! Parties?"

"Parties are a mix of sweat and loud noises that give me migraines! Not everyone is a fuckin' gangster, y'know?" the redheaded boy sighs begrudgingly, attempting to pull you up. "..I don't know what girls like, clothes...?" you pause and rub your temple with your free hand, "Just let me go already! Nobody has it worse than me!"

"Fuuck!" Chuuya groans at your dismissal, "I'll tell ya what I'm living for - I saw weird shit until I woke up in the real world when I was like 8?! Now there's a God living inside me!!" you grew silent, ".. I'm not your therapist!" you stammer, causing the boy to hiss. "[Y/N]! Let me help you so I can find out about the past I've never had." you bit your lip torn, hearing as the void went silent.

From the minimal interactions you shared with the ginger, his actions always seemed barricaded, as if he were put behind glass his whole life. And from his story, it seemed pretty right. He's far too loyal with that mafia, and blames himself for the short coming of his old organization. 'Nobody has it worse than me!' rung through your mind, god, how you internally facepalmed. You hated being touched, but you were sort of touched; and as selfish as you were, or are, you had to dress another morning successfully waking up.

"..Or else Ima call the God - O' grantors, of dark dispa-"

"Fuck! You can help me, alright?!"

Reading through the mafia au from the beginning... How do you think sapnap endeared himself to each mafia member in the very beginning? Clearly shadoune was already fond of him, but how did sap win over the others? Were there specific moments or things that sapnap did that made them decide he was worth the risk? Part if it was probably the mafia being very secure in their positions (no jockeying to move up the ranks like in dream's group), but surely they were at least a /little/ hesitant at first

They actually were extremely NOT on board with having Sapnap join tbh.

The lot of them did argue about taking someone like Sapnap, did throw around the idea of "what if they double cross us??"(lmao they guessed right kinda). Farfa was probably the most against it and that's a rarity cause he's always siding with Rich on these kinds of things. (Shadoune is trying very hard to make his case tbh)

Thankfully, Rich just knows an opportunity when he sees one. Did he plan from the start to take over Dream's family? No. Not at all. But the alliance still was able to give him a foothold to a powerful person.

I think I mentioned this once? But Sapnap was traded with Gia! Gia knows English and worked with clubs and bars and basically had the same kind of position as Sapnap, or at least. That's what everyone thought(again, no one knowing that Sapnap was one of Dream's closest). Sapnap’s key role in Dream's family were the underground fights, something wholly unique to him being able to set up(and participate in) and was the thing that convinced Rich to actually go for the trade, despite Sapnap not knowing a lick of Spanish and therefore gonna make it hard to integrate him into any of the buisness they actually do.

Which leads to Sapnap staying with the guys instead of going to wherever Gia was based at. It was never meant to be permanent though. This was just to help him get by before sending him to the area Gia was in charge of.

And it's. Awkward. Sapnap sticks with Shadoune a lot. I wanna say it kinda goes like dedsafio where they just interact and become friends over time. They're kinda forced by Rich to play nice anyways (even if they're kinda "playfully" mean about it)

I think a couple specific moments is when they order Sapnap to do something, jokingly, but he still tries to do it. I can imagine a couple of the guys maybe trying to prank Sapnap like, ohh go clean those guns out. But it's Spreen's guns and he hates anyone else touching them and they think itll be funny seeing Sapnap cowed by Spreen. But when Spreen happens upon Sapnap dutifully and very meticulously cleaning and taking care of them, color him impressed! Little stuff like that!

I think I put somewhere how Farfa gets closer with Sapnap was by letting him try and help with the paperwork. Most times, he just lets Sapnap in his office and allows Sapnap to pull up a chair and sit next to him. No talking. Peaceful. Nice. (May lead to other things ;3c)

I think most of them get cute agression when he earnestly tries to do as they say and also match their energy. He is Loud when they are Loud and that's probably the thing that makes them enamored by Sapnap.

Though I think pretty early on (and I mean like just a few day of Sapnap being there lmao) Farfa will quickly realize how....obedient....Sapnap is and will pass that on to Rich.

And Rich will consider and say Ya know. I've been wanting to get a new dog.

So Sapnap gets to stay with them :)

And his actual....training....is what makes them like Sapnap the most. Just being able to. Control him. And him looking so eager to please and do right and hope he doesn't make them mad. Knows when to bark for them and what not. Him so gladly taking everything they give him with little to no complaint. It's just. Kinda addicting!

In Sapnap's head, he's just trying his best to please everyone cause he does have the task of spying on them for Dream. He knows he might be sent away so he's trying his best to Not let that happen. It's just....he might enjoy doing what he's doing a little /too/ much. Oops!

okay so i like asking peoples personal experiences, so what were the most interesting things about getting ready for top surgery, the surgery itself or the recovery process in your eyes?

also how long did it take to get off of the binder after the surgery? thats the part i worry about the most bc i cant wear a binder bc my lungs are inept (affectionate) so i worry how thatll go but i mean itll be worth it obviously.

Thanks so much :) I'm answering this publicly in case other people find this information useful, but let me know if it's a problem and I'll take it down right away. Also feel free to message me with any follow-up questions.

I should let you know a lot of my comics are a bit dramatized for comedic purposes. I don't lie at all but sometimes I phrase things to be funny, not accurate ;)

Let's get into it - first of all, speaking as someone who needed top surgery but felt it was a pipe dream for soso long, I'll say a) it was well worth the wait and b) it wasn't nearly as hard as I expected it to be, both logistically and physically. I had the advantage that I live in a pretty liberal state in transgender law and financial aid, but the disadvantage of having a few medical conditions that I expected to make the surgery pretty hard on me (and that blocked me a little in terms of getting medical permission). If you live in the USA, I may have more specific legal guidelines for you if you want it.

In terms of the binder! I actually have a chest deformity that made wearing a binder extremely painful and probably damaging. I usually had to opt for sports bras etc., and this was a big concern for me, too, in terms of the binder that you have to wear after surgery. The vest the hospital gave me was problematic because it didn't fit me right and was causing a lot of pain. I'm not sure if my deformity had to do with it or not. But the point is: I told them the problem, and they gave me the option of just going out and buying Under Armour compression sportswear. This SAVED me, and it was FAR less painful than any binder or binder substitute I've ever worn. I could wear it 24/7 and barely even notice the pain, and it was only about $20 online. This is definitely worth asking about ahead of time to any potential surgeon. Even if this particular solution doesn't work for your case, they probably have others. There are a lot of us with bad lungs/ribs!

I was required to wear the compression shirt for 6 weeks. After that, I've chosen to continue wearing it on and off because I still have a little swelling. They expect that to be done by 6 months.

The worst parts were the vest (before I replaced it with the sportswear) and the drains. The worst part about the drains is they do hurt, and if the tubes shift at all you can feel it inside your body (BAD feeling). Unlike everything else, they were gradually hurting more the longer I had them. I got them out after a week, and after that recovery was no problemo at all. The drains are the hard part - I think most people agree with me on this one. Some people experience pain getting them removed, too, but for me it just felt a little weird.

The most interesting thing to me was the result itself. The wound, the bruising, the stitches, the glue, and the scars. Watching my own skin heal itself into a new shape was fascinating! I was allowed to change the dressing on day 2 and it was a pretty gruesome sight, but it also felt RIGHT. I was expecting a difficult adjustment. Even with the gender euphoria, a lot of trans people say they felt woozy or strange when they first saw the results. It can take a long time for your brain to adjust to your new shape. But for some reason, for me, it just immediately felt right. It's already hard to imagine my chest having ever been different.

video editing

related to the ask i answered from @whats-amata-you about video editing, i'm going to go into a more in depth guide on editing with CapCut on desktop under the readmore ^-^ there are other editors out there obviously but this is the best free one i've worked with so far

this is very long and im sorry for that, i just have adhd and wanted to talk about everything, i hope its helpful and if theres anything thats confusing let me know!

basics:

before you start you wanna go into your settings and make sure Proxy is turned on, this will help with lag from any big file sizes

to give a rundown of what i know about the capcut menu so far (and whats the most useful for basics imo):

the tool bar section essentially, for splitting/cutting down whatever section you have selected, mirroring it, rotating it, etc

the main edit section- video, audio, and speed are the basics that you'll need but ill go into some of the other parts listed in a few

how to resize the output ratio, depending on the ratio of your clips/videos you may need to resize them to whatever you want the output to be. i use 4:3 most of the time and resize the videos to fill the space correctly (if you mass select the clips you can resize them all at once)

the zoom bar for the timeline so you can work more precisely or quickly with clips

once you've got your new project started and all your clips and audio imported, you wanna click and drag those files down to the timeline and itll put them in the middle 'cover' layer, HOWEVER, you wanna drag video clips ABOVE the cover layer after, and then 'hide' the cover layer. this is because the middle layer locks video clips in place and offers very little freedom to work, doing it on free layers is better (when you drag itll look like the first pic, with a line highlighting above the main layer. the eye symbol in the second pic is how to hide a layer)

you can also edit the ratio of the output and mass edit the videos to fill the video player while you've got your clips in one place

NOTE: i try to move all the videos so that there is a good bit of empty space in the beginning of the project, this is where your song and actual edit will be worked on, and you want some empty space between the song and the videos you're using so that you have space to move them around and cut them down later on

from here, you wanna cut down the song audio you want to use and put it at the very beginning of the timeline. you wanna pay attention a bit to the intro and outro so things dont sound disjointed or off beat or have too much dead silence, but for the most part it doesnt have to be perfect. you can also edit the volume of the song in the audio menu top right so its not blasting your ears out while editing

also, a tip for audio: if you need a section to be shorter or longer, you can sometimes splice the audio up and piece it back together. its easier to do this if you zoom in really far and pay attention to the beats and sounds, but with enough practice you make a song work better for the edit while still flowing smoothly!

you should also decide if you want any speaking parts for your edit or any neat sounds and set those clips aside, the clips that you dont want to have audio you can mass select and right click them, there'll be an option to extract audio which you can them mass select and delete (if you decide you want audio later you can right click and do recover audio on any clip that needs it) if you have a clip where you only want part of the sound, you can extract the audio and cut it down so only that section of audio remains, but make sure to keep it synced with the video!

the next step is just fitting your clips to the audio! it doesn't have to be 100% perfect, nor do you have to have a new clip on every single beat, but it is good to use the beats of the song or the words as a general idea of where you should cut the clip to so it looks smoother. if you zoom in far you can see on the audio tracks where the beats are along with listening and you can use a marker (highlight in yellow on the first pic) to tell you where it is later, this will also help the clip snap into place when resizing (second pic)

EDIT: there is also a button on the tool bar that will mark the beats for you if you dont want to do them yourself (no, this is not gen ai, its just a beat detection tool)

this is pretty much the last of the basic stuff, aside from whatever little edits you want to do to size, speed, audio, etc. when im fitting clips i always do it all over the place so just take your time and dont worry about making it like a puzzle, just fit clips to wherever you think they look and sound the best

for everything after this, its not a necessity or anything, if you just wanna slap your watermark on the video and export it you totally can i do that all the time when i dont wanna deal with other stuff, but ill give the rundown of extra stuff just in case you want it too-

colors, sharpening, filters

so, while you can adjust each video's colors individually, its a lot easier to nab an adjustment layer from the top and pull it down to the timeline, then resize it to your edit (first pic). you'll mostly want the basic section which will give you clarity, saturation, etc (second pic), and the curves section which can help you edit the colors of the video, either to an extreme or light amount (third pic) i havent played with hsl too much but you can mess with it to your liking too! (if you need a few clips adjusted a certain way you can also split the adjustment layer so you only edit the clips it's above as well)

you can also use the pre made filters for this, right next to adjustments, but not all of them work great with animation

animations/transitions, text, edits

so to make your clips move and look more lively, you have two options: animations or transitions (or both if you want)

for animations, you click on a video clip and go up to the animation section where you can choose a combination of in, out, or combo. theres a lot of really fun ones here and you can adjust the durations of them until they look how you want, you can also add in AND out animations together on one clip

for transitions, you go to the section up top, pull one of the transitions down between two clips, and then you can edit the size of it. you cant add two transitions at once but they can go along with clips that have animation added to them so you can layer the effects!

effects and stickers are in the same vein of just fun stuff you can add, i havent played around with stickers a huge amount but capcut has a pretty good amount of neat things for edits tbh, but also if you want to make your own 'stickers' you could probably just import a transparent png image and put it on a layer above your video

for text, i usually just do default text and edit it to my liking but i know they have some neat premade stuff too, either way you wanna put it as the very top layer so none of the adjustment or effects layers are doing anything to it

theres a few other things that capcut has to offer that i havent explored yet or thought they were a little more than basic, but once you have all this down then the editing program is your oyster to play around with as you please!

exporting

after everything's the way you like it, you wanna delete all the extra clips/audios you didnt use, that way the program will default to ending at the actual end of your edit, then you wanna go up to file and select "Export" and you'll see a menu pop up

now it defaults to saving in a hidden folder in your appdata which is the most annoying thing in the world so you wanna select the folder to export (highlighted), save whatever folder is best for you, and then click export! it chooses video automatically so you dont really need to do anything extra, you also dont have to choose a folder every time, it will save into whatever you first chose every time after this

afterwards, you simply upload to your social media of choice with whatever caption and tags you want!

Kaveh was supposed to be in bed hours ago. 5 hours and 38 minutes, to be persice. Alhaitham had been counting. He did everything he though would work to get Kaveh to finally lay down, close his eyes, and rest, but nothing was working. Warm bottle, bedtime stories (he had read 7 different stories at this point), and even trying different stuffed animals and pajamas. Nothing. Alhaitham was exhausted.

“Hayi? Do da tree birdies sleep? Wha’ about… Oh! Wha’ about da creepy crawlies in da kitchen?” Kaveh had been asking nonsense questions like these all night, part of the reason he was still awake at nearly 4 in the morning.

“I dont know, Kaveh. What I do know-… Wait, whats in the kitchen?” Alhaitham began to answer before he registered what kaveh had said. He sat up in the bed a little bit and looked down at Kaveh. “What did you just say is in the kitchen?”

“Da creepy crawlies!” Kaveh excitedly exclaimed, a wide smile forming behind his pacifier. “Dey have 6 leg, 3 eye- BIG eyes, and are really teeny tiny. Dey walk around in da dark and eat da bread! Dats why it has all da holes.” Kaveh started giggling, his tiredness clearly showing in his speech.

Alhaitham felt puzzeled. More than when he was trying to figure out why Kaveh wasnt sleeping yet. But what was getting to him the most was the though of some spider-like creatures crawling around in his food while he didnt look. He shuddered, the thought of bugs in general making him feel gross. He rubbed up and down his arms for a moment, trying to get rid of his goosebumps, before pressing further into this. Surely it was Kaveh just being silly… Right?

“How do you know this? Who told you about these… ‘Creepy crawlers’?” Alhaitham asked as he tried to fight the tiredness in his mind. This whole talk took a turn that was not helping his already fatigued state of mind.

“Dey told me! I got mad ‘cause my sandwich had holes, and I asked and dey told me.” Kaveh explained trough slurred giggles and mumbles. “Dey very small, so is easy to make holes. I scolded dem like you always do for da holes…” The more Kaveh explained, the more Alhaitham imagined a ton of ant-sized abominations crawling around their pantry. He shook his head and tried not to gag.

“Kaveh, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ‘creepy crawlers’ arent real. You probably dreamt about them at some point.” Alhaitham tried to explain to Kaveh, but Kaveh didnt seem to want to believe it.

“What?!” He sat up in the bed with Alhaitham, jaw dropping and his pacifier almost falling out. “But.. But dat were so cute-“ He felt himself tearing up over the fact that the little creatures he thought were so adorable werent actually real. Alhaitham sighed, realizing that now he had to deal with a meltdown.

“How about you go to sleep so you can dream about them? Does that sound like a good idea?” He suggested as he tried to coax Kaveh into laying down again. The poor baby was so tired at this point he didnt realize that Alhaitham was moving him. It did seem to stop his oncoming waterworks, however.

Kaveh gave a small nod and snuggled back up with Alhaitham. It seemed like as soon as his head hit the pillow, he was in a deep sleep. That baffled Alhaitham. How in the world would Kaveh be so willing to dream about thousands- No, millions of little spiders in his food? If Alhaitham saw them, he would already have a match in hand to burn the house down.

However, Kavehs great big imagination never failed to impress Alhaitham. He just seemed to show it so much more whenever he regressed. A soft sigh came from Alhaitham, just accepting it. His little Kaveh would just have that sort of creepy imagination and he couldnt stop it… But he would still be checking the entire house for bugs when they woke up. No ‘creepy crawlers’ get to live rent free.

Binding for newbies

(This is not a comprehensive list and your welcome to add if i missed anything)

SO! You want to bind your chest, well your in luck i have some info and tips so you have somewhere to start off!

The 2 ways im familiar with binding is by using transtape and a chest binder.

Ill be talking about:

- What they are

- The pros and cons

- Application/usage (and removal)

- And the potential dangers

transtape:

is a tape made from cotton and spandex that you apply to you chest, you cut two strips that you apply on your boobs and then pull your boobs out to each side. Youll find it in rolls like this

Chest binders:

are a vest that compresses your chest. Theyre a very popular method of binding. They’ll typically look like this (you can also get a swim binder)

Pros!

Transtape:

- is great for shaping the chest into a masculine shape! It’s incredibly customisable because you cut the peices yourself and decide how flat you want it.

- It can be worn for up to 5 days! You can work out, shower, swim and do practically anything with it on and itll stick! Itll get a little icky after those days but you can enjoy your flattened chest for a whole week!

It usually comes in a range of skin-colours to match or you can get fun patterns and colours!

Binder:

- its much quicker to put on and its an easy everyday solution

- many say their chest feels flatter with a binder

-feels very secure because of the pressure

- its just one purchase that last years!

Cons

Transtape

- When you take it off your skin is sensitive and in my experience my nipples are very sensitive

-if applied wrong it can seriously irritate the skin, so the proper application method is a little slow

-its all about practice so you might not get the flatness you want on your very first try

- you have to continuously buy some instead of it just being one purchase (make sure to cross reference so you dont have to way wayyyy to much)

Binder:

- you cant do any sports because you arent able to breathe like you should. I mean it, do not do sports with a binder. (You can get a specific swim binder though)

- it can get dangerous if you where it for more than 8 hours a day

- its a bit tricky to put on and take off

- get sweaty so you have to wash them

Application/usage (and removal):

So the most important part about binding is doing it correctly, but its often hard to find info on what not to do and what to do, so I’ve compiled everything you need to know.

Transtape:

Application is tricky and i find writtten instruction is basically useless so i found some great video tutorials on how to apply it!

Small chest:

Medium chest:

Big chest:

And a very important part is taking transtape off again, now i have personally commited the cardinal sin of just ripping it off, dont do that you will fuck up your skin. Instead you have to lather the peice of tape in oil (any oil is good, i use coconut) and lather the whole thing so its very saturated, then wait a 1-3 minutes for the adhesive to let go and then peal it off. If you feel its sticking to your skin still, put some more on and pull softly.

In general the TransTape youtube channel is great for info about transtape, so definetly check them out if you buy some. Their website also offers transtape, nipple covers and oil.

Binder:

Binders are a lot quicker to put on as its just a vest, but its tight and its a bit tricky so if you can get someone to help you on your first try id recommend that.

Now there are a few important things to know about wearing binders, so you can wear them properly and not fuck up your ribs

1. Make sure to get the right size, this is very important for your chest health (your website should have a measurement chart)

2. Never wear it longer than 8 hours

3. Take a minimum of 2 break days a week (as in dont wear it) I usually do that in the weekend.

4. Never double bind, as in wear two at once, and never wear a tight sportsbra over or under it to make it flatter, again you will fuck up your ribs and you cant fix that.

5. If it hurts take it off, I know dysphoria is an incredibly tough battle but your health is more important. I believe in you <3

6. Never and i mean never do sports with a binder on

7. Wash it! it gets sweaty and stinky over time so definetly wash it. I wash by hand with some warm water and delicate laundry detergent but your specific binder should have instructions on how to wash it on the tag.

Dangers:

Both of these methods sadly have some downsides, but they are avoidable if you use them correctly

Transtape:

can irritate your skin if you put it on wrong, it gets itchy and if you scratch, you can cause sores, which then means you cant wear your tape till its healed. Ive tried this and it is a HELL so put it on properly!

Binders:

Are dangerous because they compress your entire chest and that means your ribs and all the important organs inside em, so when buying i binder make sure to buy yours size and if youre in between, buy the bigger one, under no sircumstance should you but a binder that is to small, it can seriously harm you.

When your ribs are bent, you cant unbend them and they will hurt when you sleep and breathe so please wear it correctly

All in all thats it! I sadly dont know every website for binders and transtape out there but these are the ones ive used (theyre DK specific)
