Galadriel was never "under Sauron's thrall." That's something ROP made up. In Unfinished Tales, she was the only one in Eregion who suspected that Annatar was lying about being an emissary of the Valar. Celebrimbor was deceived by him. She was not. She was certainly not "under his thrall." No, not even because she had Nenya.

Yes, when Frodo offered her the One Ring, she was tempted. It could have given her the power to prevent the fading of Lothlórien. But when she makes this speech in the book, and in the Peter Jackson movies, it's her own thought, she's not repeating something that Sauron said to her once:

“You will give me the Ring freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!”

These are Galadriel's words. Her words. Not Sauron's. And she was tempted by the One Ring because she could have been a more powerful queen, not Sauron's queen. Like, you guys really took one of the most powerful and complex female characters in Tolkien's works and you made her story all about a man and his power over her and his manipulation of her. Fuck off.

And stop tagging ROP as Lord of the Rings.

I thought I'd post this for for celedrial week because I just found out it was happening. I actually drew this a few months ago, which is why it doesn't fit the prompt for today. I'm hoping to draw something new for one of the days coming up, but I thought this would be fun to share for now!

This one is a bit on the rougher side, and I wasn't as practiced with markers at the time, but I still think it's pretty cute.

elrond through the ages based on one glorious panel from chapter 95 of Black Butler (hopefully i got that right....). in the context of this sequence, i always thought it was sad to think abt how many people elrond has lost throughout his life alongside how remarkable he is to remain "as kind as summer" still by the time the hobbit rolls around 🥺

i redrew elrond's poses based on ciel's in the original panels BUT i forgot what page exactly the original panel sequence is... however!! if you scroll down to the middle half of this blog post you can find the original reference pic :D warning that it includes heavy spoilers for the black butler manga so u could just alternatively google 'ciel phantomhive running' and it'd probably be one of the first results that pop up haha

The funniest scene of the season so far has to be Galadriel waxing poetry on how Sauron so masterfully deceived her, played her like a puppet, and Elrond's in the back like "girl be so for real, you knew he was a red flag, you just thought you could fix him" like oop- 😶😶

does she speak a phrase that her mother used to use often, which makes elrond freeze for a moment? when the sun shines and shadows her face a certain way, does it look like celebrian did the day before she left middle-earth? when she sleeps with one hand resting on her chest, does it keep elrond up all night because it is exactly how his celebrían used to sleep? do they have the same pointed canines? do they laugh in the same gentle tone? does arwen wear the gowns that her mother left behind? i think about this very often
