Okay! So, is there an RPG that's more rural, like farms and fields, windmills and carts, swamps and forests, but also still like big monsters and magic? Vibes wise, something akin to Amphibia the show, or Atomicrops the game. I'm sure one could just repurpose any regular RPG to make a world like that, but I'm curious :3c

THEME: Farming Plus

Hello friend, so I have a few games here that feel at least slightly fantastical, as well as a game that definitely works as a post-apocalyptic kind of game, although I don’t think any of the games listed here have the cartoonish-ness of either Apmhibia or Atomicrops. My main goal was to find games that felt like they communicated a slice-of-life style of game, while making room for a setting that feels outside of our normal experience. I hope you still find something that works for you!

Take Root, by katykoop.

You've achieved the dream! You have a farm, in a cool place full of forests and the mysterious dungeon keep, and there is the promise of glory-- with a festival at the very end of the year. Play against several farmers, with a world master controlling it all, to win by having the most points in your farm display. 

Each season is condensed into 9 days,  with harvest on the 4th and the 8th. Unlock cool items through random events with NPC's, buy livestock, and traverse the dungeons of Dungeon Keep. 

This is take root. 

Take Root is a very procedural game, with each player responsible for their own farm, which they are tasked with caring for until harvest and the bringing of your fruits to market. The phases of the game are (predictably) sorted into 4 seasons with 9 days in each season, with two market days per quarter of the year. Different seasons have different basic crops, and certain items are more valuable than others.

However, you’re not just farming in Take Root - you’re also venturing into dungeons, and trying to romance select NPC’s. Diving into the Dungeon Keep is dangerous, but could have you coming away with rare items that give you money for seeds or items that allow you to fulfill mini quests - such as wooing the love of your choice, for example. The end of the game results in a winner - the player with the highest accumulated points, acquired through selling items, adventuring, and romancing NPCs.

All in all, Take Root is streamlined and simple, and yet manages to combine both dungeon delving and farming into one neat little brochure.

Farmtasy Simulator, by Guanaco Games.

The goal of this game is to build up your farm by managing resources, while dealing with threats both mundane and fantastic. Using cards for the encounters and dice to determine the outcome of actions taken, the player will gain resources and try to figure out how best to use them to continue building their farm. This game is meant to be played with one player and a GM. Farmtasy Simulator can be used as a supplemental mini-game for an on-going fantasy campaign, or as a standalone to enjoy some agricultural fantasy hijinks.

This is meant to be a two-player game, with one player and one GM. The character has dice and five stats with varying modifiers, while the GM has a deck of cards that they will pull from over the course of each year, used to generate encounters that will make the farming difficult. Farmtasy Simulator appears to be primarily designed as an add-on to another game, incorporating farming mechanics into a larger story. I think it might be a neat way to watch time pass for one character who’s trying to settle down and start a farm - perhaps each player takes their turn running through the simulator with the GM, or the GM use this as a mini-session with the only other player available to build their backstory before they went adventuring.

What’s So Hard About Farming?, by K.Petker.

This is a game about working on a farm and dealing with the triumphs and hardships of such a life.  It might not be any kind of farm or farmers you’re familiar with, but the connection to the growing green and the earth is still there.  Regardless of the season, there’s work to be done.  And things might get a little weird.

I don’t own this game, but my experience with What’s So Cool About…..? games is one of light rules and plenty of freedom to let you take those rules where you like. What I expect from this game is just enough rules to give you a reason to roll dice, and the rest of the world is up to you.

On the plus side, this means that if you want to farm in a swamp, or in a post-apocalypse… well, you can do that! On the downside, the experience won’t fundamentally change according to to the setting unless you decide to do a bit of game design yourself, which is a delightful challenge for some, and an unnecessary amount of labour for others, so take from that what you will!

Mectors, by Harper Jay.

After the war, thousands upon thousands of bipedal mechanized fighting vehicles (or “Bimechs”) were left scattered across the land. Many were brought back to the capital cities to be repaired or scrapped, but the majority of them were too damaged to be easily transported. With the war won, the victors simply left their mechanical refuse in the battlefields to rust and wither. 

In Mectors, players take on the role of a farmer, miner, fisher, carpenter, or some other worker in a labor intensive field. Mector Owners come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some own a Mector that’s been in their family for generations. Others came across theirs recently, through purchase or luck. And a rare few have managed to piece their own together using scraps from decommissioned Mectors, but this is even harder than it sounds. No matter how they got it, they now have a powerful tool with a long history.

I’ve recommended Mectors before for a similar request, and I think it definitely holds up as a great option for a fresh take on the slice-of-life farming sim - because it involves mechs! The setting is post-war, in a country that has learned to beat their technological swords into highly efficient plowshares - and the troubles that plague your settlements are less sinister and just the problems of a small community, such as the mushroom fungus spirit who is willing to guide lost travellers out of the cave, but also can’t seem to stop herself from feeding them mushrooms that also leech away their memories. If you want to tell stories about people solving everyday problems, set in an agricultural setting that’s wholly divorced from our own, I recommend Mectors.

Weeds in the Waste, by Megan Cross.

Weeds in the Waste is a solo storytelling game about tending a garden in a post apocalyptic wasteland.

Determine the state of your wasteland, create your gardener, plant your seeds, and tend your garden as you play through the seasons in the wastes. It is a narrative, storytelling game played using 2d6s and a 6x6 grid, as well as a series of prompts. 

As primarily a solo game, much of the tone and pace of Weeds in the Waste is set by you, the singular player. This includes describing how the world ended, and how your garden started, as well as what kind of gardener you are. The game moves through different phases for every season, indicating what parts of your hard work pay off, and what parts are unfruitful.

The end game (and reflection phases) revolve around what withers, and where - which I think is truly reflective of the post-apocalyptic themes in this game. Try as you might, the current conditions of the wasteland can only be so fruitful, and you will have to learn how to live with a drastically reduced yield in comparison to the work that you’ve put in.

There are also rules for multiple players of Weeds in the Waste, so you can also make this a collaborative effort, answering the questions together, and strategically planting your crops as best as you can.

I was going to make this like a big lore post but I realized there's a bunch of things I wanna figure out first and a bunch of things I'd have to explain and I don't wanna leave this in my ask box for. Months! So instead I'm gonna use this post to talk about my current design process hell. I'm like aware self insert designs don't need to be complicated or directly match the source material but. Mine does actually! No it can't just be me it needs to fit with the LORE

a big problem I've been having recently is colors... I would consider my s/I to be like... part of the main quartet to some extent and all of them have main colors I associate with them.

Allen is generally white or a pale grey but I could understand if someone argued for red because of his scar and arm, but red is more an accent color than a main color for me. when illustrated in a simpler way Hoshino will usually focus on including his pale-ness before his red accents so I consider that more important in his color hierarchy

Lenalee is obviously purple. her hair is canonically black but whenever hoshino stylized her its just. purple. and she also has purple eyes either way. shes purple.

Lavi's in an orangey red or just orange in the a very "He is a ginger." type way. you could also just say his color is ginger and i'd be like. yeah.

and then finally, Kanda's is very much blue, even in canon I think during the Alma arc when he went insane his hair turned blue. even if that wasn't true, like Lenalee his eyes are blue is canon, and when given the chance his hair is also stylized as blue.

that being said when the characters are so clearly color-coded I find it important to also color code my self insert a little which leads to the dilemma of: which color do I give them?

i know my blog's theme might lead one to believe otherwise but my favorite color is red, so of course that was my first choice, but even with red not being Allen's main color. it's still very prominent in his palette and felt like stepping on his toes a little, plus even excluding Allen, Lavi will often stray into red and i don't want to deprive him of that versatility in my art just to differentiate the two color-wise. there is the option to make them into more of a pinkish red so when i push Lavi into more red, they'd become more pink so palette-wise they stand out from each other but I'm iffy on that.

this is also to say it isn't unheard of for characters to share a main color but it's usually with purpose. Like Alma's main color is arguably blue but i think that's purseful seeing as Kanda and Alma's stories are extremely intertwined. it shows that they're connected to each other in a way others aren't, these two characters' bond is unique.

I also like to think that Kanda and Lanelee having similar colors with Kanda occasionally slipping into more indigo than his usual blue shows that they have a unique bond in their own way too but :3c that's more just wishful thinking on my part...

Allen's mentor Cross's main color is red, which very much makes sense to me with Lavi and Allen's dubious claims to red as their central color since all three of these characters have a connected history. I would get into how the histories are connected but then this post would NEVER END so we can't do that. not today at least.

that being said I DID consider my self insert blue as a central color because my character is obviously very connected to Kanda, but I didn't like the idea of them having the exact same shade of blue so I thought of making it maybe a little lighter or a little darker. i also did not like that though because it reminded me too much of one of my moots ships. WHICH IS NO SHADE TO THEM BTW I love his ship a lot and that's partly why I think my brain has decided they have a claim over that specific color combo.

besides even if all of the above wasn't true I think Alma and Kanda's bond is very specific and unique and I feel like sharing their color might... intrude upon that instead of building upon it, if that makes sense? My s/i is still connected to BOTH in a way but, at the beginning of their relationship especially, not in the way they're connected to each other. I don't like the idea of them signifying a sense of unity with Kanda by sharing a central color with him when that's simply not true for them until WAY later. maybe they'd wear each other's colors to show that or something...

At the moment I'm really considering yellow for multiple reasons...

an orangey yellow to be specific! partly because it would still connect them to Kanda and Alma in a weird way of being their opposite of the color wheel but also showing their distance by again, being their opposite. i think it also goes with some design themes I was playing. them being a warm yellow in contrast to Kanda's cool blue... i also liked the idea of their ability to involve a flash of light somehow. especially since i planned to make them light-sensitive and get migraines like meee :). its funny to me.

i believe that is all my thoughts for now!! at least the coherent ones. i might post some design concept later... for nyow, thank you for coming to my ted talk! like genuinely if you read all this thank you!!! i talk a lot.

“Come on buddy, don’t ya wanna make a lil deal with lil ol’ me?”

I’ve been on a bit of an equivalence high recently as anyone following me may have guessed haha ^-^

For anyone who’s interested I’ve written some of my thoughts on demon!Mabel below the cut :3

First things first let's talk about her style and general appearance, cause I feel like I’ve deviated a fair bit from the previously established fancy suit she’d been portrayed as having like Dipper.

My logic for the change (outside of wanting to try drawing something that isn’t a suit haha) is that I feel she would have more varietyin the outfits she wears compared to Dipper. Looking at the show Dipper was out there wearing the exact same outfit for an entire summer while Mabel (admittedly wearing the same type of clothes) had significantly more variety, wearing a different sweater every episode, some episodes even having more than one, and I feel this would continue to reflect here.

Dipper has his suit and doesn't venture much further then that if he can help it (obviously not to say he doesn't but you know what I mean). Mabel mean while would have a new outfit every day, multiple per day sometimes!

Most of the time I think she would default to a more punk, diy aesthetic because of the inherent creativity of it (which for a typically detail averse artist such as myself was certainly a decision haha), not to mention I can imagine Mabel being like “I’m a literal demon Dipper I gotta go for the outfits with the spikes and chains!”

At the same time she would definitely enjoy trying out a whole host of different styles (to a point though. Some just aren't comfortable, not any more at least, a part of her stolen away with the Transcendence).

I'd need to do some research into clothing styles to say specifically what else she would enjoy, but I can say it's a lot of black with small splashes and highlights of colour. She's also, regardless of style wear lots and lots of jewellery and piercings cause I think she’d like them :3

Switching things up a bit I wanna quickly go over her pins (ie, her queer identities). My hc for demon!Mabel is the same for normal Mabel, being bisexual with a masc preference, and a demigirl (she/her/they/them exploring and trying out various neo pronouns as she encounters them, rotating through them depending on her mood).

Slightly serious tangent, but I know the previously established lore for EAU was that she would be aroace, but in all honesty that never quite sat right with me. Like the only reason she, or subsequently Dipper in the main TAU canon, are aspec is because of the demon-ness, and while I love demons and the demonic as much as the next aroace person, and I adore representation of my identity, the implications aren’t my favourite in the world. Obviously no disrespect to the people behind that decision, (in fact I applaud them on exploring how a character like Mabel might react to people assuming she wants that in this lil fic here :3). Only the maddest of respect to the people who make characters the identities they want them to be :) I just wanted to address it for anyone who like me has read every bit of eau content they can get their grubby lil hands on and noticed that particular difference :p

Besides, this way we get to explore the logistical and moral implications of a character being allosexual while also being an incredibly powerful and immortal being, especially when you get into questions of how she ages herself compared regular humans :3c (I think I'll leave that for another post though haha)

On a different note, another design idea I had was that it'd be really cool if she had a dynamic and moving tattoo that would constantly change and show new (typically pig and star related) designs :) this definitely wasn't inspired by my own inability to come up with and stick to a particular singer design, definitely not.

I also thought it would be neat to differentiate the demonic aspects of her and Alcor's design by giving her feathered wings, rather than the typical bat wings. I mostly just thought it could be nice to try drawing something different, and while Dipper and Mabel are very close and have a fair amount in common they are still very different characters, so it would make sense for their demonic features to differ, even is only slightly. On that note I also gave her a pink outline to her pupils as inspired by this art cause I thought it was neat :3

Anyway I accidentally posted this before I was finished so Imma just take that as a sign to stop and put my other thoughts in a different post haha 😅

4. Mythical creature I think is real? I’ve answered this question before somewhere at some point but I’ve got 3 main ones:

- Ghosts. I don’t know why, they just make sense to me. Weird stuff just happens all the time; why not ghosts? (Do they count as a cryptid/mythical creature?)

- Mothman. For, uh, reasons~. I’d like to think he exists.

- Loch Ness Monster: I don’t care how many times this one gets debunked, the idea that there might be some sort of plesiosaur-like aquatic reptile still around isn’t far fetched to me at all!

16. Thoughts on mint chocolate chip? I like it! People who say “oh mint tastes like toothpaste! Blah blah blah” are pedantic at best and generally no fun. It tastes so much better when someone’s not telling you not to like it. Mint and chocolate, especially in a cold dish, are an A+ combination (still more of a peanut butter gal when it comes to my desserts but nevertheless)

as per usual with these, analysis/breakdown under the cut <3 this one's a little less specific/in-depth because a lot of my association for this is based on Vibes and Reboot. but i've managed some things >:3c

now it is important to note that as i said this is very Jailbreak to me and not a lot of anything else and that Will be reflected. sorry but not really lol.

okay so i mostly have thoughts for the "all's well for now, just tell me how we lose" however those are very much so reboot-based and not canon based sooooo. not a lot for right here. BUT. i cannot find the post for the life of me (hellsite fr) but there's a post somewhere that points out that sly 2 is very much so about losing in general; sly & murray get arrested, the clockwerk parts are reclaimed, clock-la Exists tm, bentley's spine, etc.

in a canon jailbreak context, i suppose "just tell me how we lose" is probably mostly bentley being an anxious little dude. it esp. reminds me of murray being all Spicy tm; "all's well for now" and it's "tell me how we lose" bc he's with sly, but they're still losing bc murray is Losing His Mind.

as for the beginning ..... shrug emote? i'm imagining him saying it to sly, but i'm not entirely sure why.

bentley is so incredibly stressed out all the time, especially during jailbreak when he's flying solo. i'm sure the week vacation they take is just as much for him to relax as it is for murray to shake off the spice-ness because ancient knows he needs it ! he needs a nap and a hug

okay back into the throes of jailbreak here bentley's "hanging on to what [he's] heard" is very much so him running recon on the contessa with his weird ass sound vibration darts. "when it comes to you, i don't forget" is ALSO very him at the contessa but that's also mostly Vibes.

what's he not forgetting? who's to say. possibly himself, if the contessa were to get her weird-ass lobster claws on him. but in general this is just very Running Recon tm.

"Delirious, a fear of us / It's fine, but why so serious?"

this one is BLUE. that's intentional. this is moreso associated w/ jailbreak than with bentley specifically and therefore there's some sly shenanigans in there. "delirious, a fear of us" is almost too easy to apply to sly and murray while murray is literally trying to murder him while they're messing with the agitators.

and, taking canon and running with it, "it's fine, but why so serious?" is absolutely sly downplaying the effect the prison had on him because that's just How he Is. there's no way one is not Traumatized tm from the extended visit to the contessa in general, and he was in the hole for Who Knows How Long. and of course it would be bentley who is being serious because like sly That's Just How He Is. he sees right through sly's facade.

thinking about this harder i think this is kind of. bentley about sly n' carmelita esque. i know that doesn't happen until A Tangled Web but it's just a matter of principal y'know. the "you" is of course sly and presumably "the apocalypse" metaphorically speaking is carmelita herself. bc sly's got a big heart and is a goober and will save the cop that's only making their job harder.

and if this angle's a bit unstable, i'll live - character development the beloved. like okay sly 1 and early sly 2 bentley is very rigid and stick to the plan and no, sly, shooting yourself out of a cannon is NOT a good thing!

but then jailbreak comes along and he's forced to do a lot of scrappy improv and he learns that he's actually really good at this. which paves the way for our much more calm cool & collected bentley that we see in sly 3 !!

bentley's character development is my absolute favorite thing, can you tell ? :]

I may not have gone out and dressed up for Halloween (partially because it's getting colder these days), but my kid OCs still can!

First up is Ellie, dressing up as her idol, Goombella! Complete with her own Tattle Log for all her RPG needs! No clear ideas on where her big adventures could start, but whenever adventure calls, she'll be ready!

Kinda hard to find decent refs of her that weren't… y'know. For adults =w=""

Second is Tuno, as one of his favorite heroes, Young Link! He was introduced to the Zelda series with OOT and MM, becoming glued to the latter game while Tuna preferred the former.

Armed with a sword (that hopefully isn't real) and shield, Tuno's ready to defeat all the monsters and save the land! Look out, Majora, there's a new silent protag in this world! And he's all too glad to take you down!

Third is Leon, as Kirby! Specifically Yo-Yo Kirby, because hey, yoyos are Leon's thing already and he likes how versatile Kirby is.

And I guess one of the perks of being a Koopeleon is being able to change your hair and tail color whenever ya want. Lucky bastard; never has to worry about hair dyes or contact lenses for cosplays! I don't even cosplay and I'm jealous!

Fourth is Tuna as Ness! Most of his understanding of Ness comes from Smash Bros, but that kid's baseball bat was all Tuna needed to see in order to declare Ness as his favorite character of all time. Oh, if only he could send people flying with a single swing just like Ness… It'd be so awesome! Totally worth the inevitable scolding from his parents!

Leon was originally going to be Ness (Ness uses a yoyo and wears stripes, Leon does the same, etc.), but lost a game of rock paper scissors XD

Last but certainly not least is Dusty, dressed as the one, the only, The Great Gonzales Jr.! He hopes to one day be as strong as that Yoshi, maybe even take on the Glitz Pit when he's older! Then and only then can he prove to his sister once and for all that wrestling is better than kickboxing! >:3c

Admittedly this costume was not my favorite to color. Or draw in general, since wrestler outfits seem to range from "Just Spots All Over" to "Who The Fuck Designed This And Why The Fuck Would You Wear It." I guess there's some appeal that I'm missing because I'm not into wrestling myself… o3o

VERSES UPDATE: 5/?

what is it?

Sam Winchester used to be a Specialist in training at Red Fountain Academy and he never had a problem with fairies until his 16th birthday when he discovered he was one himself. His wings and powers had suddenly appeared while in a panic to save his older brother Dean ( @tobeblamed​ ) from an enemy while on their first solo mission.

Instead of informing anyone about his powers, Sam and Dean decided to hide them for the rest of the school year. It was a task easier said then done though and just before the end of their second semester, Sam decided to visit their rival school, Cloud Tower for witches, to see if they could remove his powers or, at the very least, just his fairy form. He was quickly laughed out. 

At the start of the new school year, Sam finally relented and joined Alfea’s school for fairies where he was quickly welcomed in with open arms. He couldn’t say he felt the same though and spent his first year trying to avoid his fellow classmates whenever he could. He also spent that year avoiding his brother as well due to his disapproval of switching schools and just being a fairy in general (fairy-phobic).

It was during his second year as a fairy that Sam finally started accepting who and what he was. He became proud of his powers and even thought his wings were pretty badass. It was at this time that Sam finally became confident enough to visit Dean again and started making friends. 

After graduating, Sam started to apprentice at the school’s library and after several years, became the new head librarian and a member of the school’s board.

hakuno & achilles. i want hakuno to see right through achi and how he's burying some things far deeper than he should be and its not healthy. to have that surface level dynamic of him dudebro-ing his way through life but also catching those hints of his grief and shame beneath. pulling on the threads a little, y'know?

hakuno & leonidas. sometimes we deserve something light-hearted and a little silly, and he wants to get hakuno involved, training and jumping around. bringing hakuno into the community, encouraging her to take part and ensuring she's never left out either.

hakuno & hei. okay but hear me out. this is genshin verse but i could also reskin him a fate verse too. but this is another charlie and lynn explore identity because omg. okay so hei basically has this whole deal that he uses his face and normal appearance as a disguise and he's only really showing his true feelings when he has his mask on (except also there's more to it than that it's more he want to erase who he was and make the mask his new identity) but in g.enshin he's using this to do undercover work for the fatui and i just think it would be neat if hakuno saw right through him. because this cheerful, pleasant server who is occasionally clumsy and has a big appetite is acting the part but his eyes are dead. and she sees that because she would. unearthing this fatui spy completely on accident (making an enemy?) and then dealing with the fallout of that.

Who initiated the relationship, how did it go?

I know most people would think it was Toki who was the one to ask Skwisgaar to be in a relationship with him. I know some people think it was Toki who fell for Skwisgaar first.

Well let me tell me you’d be wrong. Skwisgaar was the one to fall first and ask Toki to be in a relationship with him. It was a slow fall but when it finally rolled it rolled fast.

Personally I think it was out while they were with the yard wolves, Skwisgaar is most at peace when he’s out with his babies they offer peace and make all the thoughts racing go silent. It wasn’t anything fancy or outlandish like you may think.

No no, he’d glanced over at Toki who was on is back being absolutely smothered in kissed by Skwis’s favorite wolf. His giggles and snorts could be heard as he tells the wolf halfheartedness to get off.

Skwisgaar would ask him in the heat of the moment if Toki would be his lover he had such a soft pure joy filled smile when he asked Toki nearly couldn’t concentrate over the hammering of his heart.

He said no. It was like everything shattered. But he was quick to explain that he couldn’t be with Skwisgaar, not until he knew he was the only one from him.

It was about a year later when Skiwsgaar had asked him again with the wolves around calming his nerves though he was prepared to wait longer. He, for the most part had stopped his sleeping around ways and even agreed to have a trial “dates” with Toki.

Toki of course said yes and now they’ve been happily together for years.

Did they have an official first date? If so, what was it like?

As I just said they had “trial” or “practice” dates. If we exclude those no not necessarily. They didn’t really have what others would consider a “first date.”

But they did have choose a day that they wanted to be their anniversary ( June 6th ) they had made a big party for the rest of the group to announce that they are in fact lovers, partners and will not be shamed or be seen as less brutal for their love.

Charles who set the whole thing up, gave a them an halfway awkward hug and sincerely congratulated them. Pickles growing up in the 80’s age zero fucks like yeah I’ve fucked dudes too it’s not a big deal for for it. Nathan was uncomfortable but quickly grew to be fine with it. Because yeah guys you’re right it’s Italy brutal to be gay. Murderface was mm less enthused by it.

But by the time they all got sloppy drunk and had a night of their lives to further “congratulate” the two lovebirds he was coming to terms with it as long as they didn’t do anything gay in front of him. What was their first kiss like?

Not as charming as you’d think, at least for the very first part. It’s actually kind of a funny story. For the sake of it I’ll try to keep it short.

Toki was thrilled to be out in public with someone who he’s learned so much from and learned to love, he may or may not have in his excitement end up slamming his head into Skiwsgaars meaning to kiss him as they threw up their latern.

Let’s just say Skiwsgaar was not very enthused about his beautiful face being smashed but he could understand the thrill and the butterflies fluttering and set aside his pissy-ness ans gave Toki the most love filled and tender kisses he could.

I won’t go into more detail but it did to more fun times ; ) lmao

Were they each other’s first anything ( kiss, relationship, etc ? )

On Skwisgaars part Toki ( strictly in this SkwisTok pairing or the beginning of a Poly SkwisTok relationship ) was his first real love. He had never felt such a real genuine love from anyone in his life the way Toki loved him. It was new and very scary but god did he fall fast and hard for this man.

For Tokis part I feel this would be his “first” real anything. Sure he’s slept with te hookers ans he groupies but none of it was real. And what he had with skiwsgaar was honestly such an eye opener for him. To know love, stability, and finally have a sense of safety in another person.

What’s their height difference? What’s their age difference?

I’d say not very much for height, I headcanon Skwisgaar to be the second tallest at 6’7. Toki i headcanon at about 6’3. So maybe a 4 inch difference, but not very much.

For age? I don’t have a clear grasp on it. Some days I want to say Skwisgaar is in his mid or early 30’s and Toki being in his mid or late 20’s. So this one I apologize you may have to think of it on your own.

What’s their relationship with each other’s families?

Once Tokis dad is dead, I like to think Anja became somewhat kinder to Toki and gave him a slight more lee way with emotions and speaking up. I’d like to think she’s a true neutral or at the very least kinder neutral once her husband has passed.

So with that in mind I’d like to think Skiwsgaar will be civil with her but not fully excusing her acts with his lover. The very ones that still keep him up at night, with horrified screams and or the days where he goes full silent the dead loo on his eyes.

But however he does acknowledge she’s trying to make a difference to be good so as I said he’ll be civil and a low key charming way. But still giving her a neutral look of displeasure when she says or does something to toki he doesn’t like..

As for Toki and Serevta.. hmm that’s a good question, I like to take a different approach where Tokis very clear in his intentions of siding with Skiwsgaar and how he will not tolerate her berating him in that smug manner she’s does. It’s like a half hearted “oh I’m sorry honey I was doing my best with being a single mother”

Toki however is not going to be civil about it he will make a snide comment right back and give her a very obvious glare while pulling skwisgaar away telling him she’s wrong. He is good and his feelings are valid. Of asked he can play nice but he much rather not.

Who takes the lead with the social situations?

Pickles. Aha you thought I’d say one of them yeah? No wrong most people who aren’t around them along enough cannot understand a word they say. After awhile they get used to it and just sorta go along with it.

Pickles does help if they can’t pick up what either of them are saying. So uhh neither lol. I can’t explain further I just they speak in such horrible choppy English most are so very confused.

Who gets jealous easier?

I personally think Toki would more jealous because this is all so new to him, if he sees someone all over Skiwsgaar, he gets insecure then jealous but it’s often nipped in the bud by his lover who will smile and kiss him deeply. Toki knows when this happens he is the one and he doesn’t need a reason to be jealous or worried.

I hope these are ok! Some of these I don’t have it quite as fleshed out as others so they may be shorter. But these were fun thank you for asking 🖤🖤

24. Dust floating in golden sunlight - Apollo/Hancock :3c

Apollo stretches lazily in the golden light pouring in through the window. It’s quiet and sleepy and warm. It’s a beautiful hour, in a world broken long ago but still alive, still surviving. The dust hasn’t settled and instead floats around like glitter...

“It’s really pretty here,” he says, watching little motes swirl around. “I know it gets bad and dangerous, but it— It’s nice.”

“Yeah?” Hancock asks from where he’s reclining, hat over his eyes. “It can’t be as good as before the war.”

Apollo tilts his head, thinking it over. “It’s better,” he decides.

Hancock peers past his hat at that. “Yeah?”

“It’s quieter,” Apollo says. He reaches into the sunbeam and watches the golden light catch his skin. “Not just loudness, but busy-ness. People— People always moving around, doing things. Pointless things. Trying to keep up appearances, trying to make money, trying to pretend everything is alright... But in the here and now, it’s...” He looks at Hancock, catches him watching him intently.

He feels a bit self-conscious, or perhaps that’s just the sunlight in his eyes.

“I—” He stumbles a bit but continues. “I feel more like I can be myself, in the now. Always had to hide, with Rig, with everyone. Maybe there’s more weapons in use around me, maybe more threats and struggle to survive... Or maybe it’s just as much as before and just more in the open with how little everyone else has to hide. But it’s...” He waves at his head. “Not as hectic in here... Dust in the sunlight, floating like glitter in the air. Still hasn’t settled, in a broken world still alive and in repair... A moment of peace where I can think and compare the beauty in survival, revival, and care where long ago I wouldn’t have the sunlight to share.”

“You really got your own perspective on things, don’t you?” Hancock chuckles. “Not even the General or the good ol’ private dick would have that kind of view on things.”

“You’re beautiful too,” Apollo says. “That’s another thing better than before. You’re here, in the now.”

Hancock laughs. “Hey, stop. I’m supposed to be the one wooing you.” He leans his cheek on his fist and smiles at Apollo, so lovingly that Apollo can’t help but smile back. “Look at you, golden in the sun. You really are like a sun god, aren’t you?”

Apollo tilts his head. He stands and crosses out of the sunbeam into the shadows where Hancock is resting, and he sits next to him and curls into his side. “...I’m not like a god,” he says at last. “I’m just here, alive, and with you. That’s all I need to be.”

Hancock smirks. “You’re just trying to butter me up to let you wear my hat again.”

Apollo beams at him. “Maybe!”

“Alright, just this once,” Hancock says, like he says every time. He takes off his hat and places it on Apollo’s head. “You’re lucky I can be bribed with flattery.”

“One day I’ll get the coat too,” Apollo says, adjusting the hat to his comfort.

“Ha! You’ll need a pretty great poem for that.”

“One day,” Apollo says again. “Just you wait.”

Last Song I listened to: 'Glock 9' by Ameer vann. This dudes a pretty good rapper and the song absolutely slaps, very cool vocal performance constantly switching between powerful anger and dispassionate laid back rapping

Also; last song I listened to on youtube was 'Vesti la Giubbia' by Lucianno Pavarotti. It's from the Opera 'Pagliacci' about some silly misogynistic clowns.

Last Movie I watched: 'Ip Man' a deeply interesting martial arts movie in mandarin and japanese. Made in 2008 by a chinese team it tells the story of a martial arts master of the Wing Chun style of kung fu. It covers the brutal occupation of his home town by Japan in world war 2 and has strong vibes of state funded historical movie. It's split into two VERY distinct halves

Pre Invasion we have a lot of upbeat, light hearted martial arts duels that establish ip man as the absolute best fighter in the village. We also see him established as loving father and husband who really needs to spend less time fighting and more time with his family. Also he spanks a rude man with a feather duster during their duel.

Immediately as soon as the war begins all colour seeps out of the movie. The entire palette becomes grey as we see the effects japanese occupation has had. Starvation is widespread in china and martial arts has ceased in the country as people have no energy to practice it without rice.

However, the japanese general in control of this town has begun kung fu tournaments between himself and his soldiers, versus local chinese martial artists. If they win their duels they're rewarded with food. His intent is to prove the superiority of japanese martial arts and overall culture over that of china's. Ip man intends to stay out of it, he doesn't seek to entertain the japanese but eventually, his hand is forced and the reckoning begins

Overall I found the movie incredibly enjoyable but found there was an unsettling feeling of a state propaganda to the whole affair. 8/10

Currently reading; um, a summary of Sri Lankan history on Brittanica . Com. It's super interesting so far especially the period of irrigation and waterworks that went on that was really fascinating to me. My brother just got engaged to a new zealander whose parents are from Sri Lanka so I'm educating myself on both countries for fun and good first impressions.

Currently watching: nothing! At the moment i'm eyeing 'Cobra Kai' on netflix but I don't know if it's worth the time investement when I could watch/play/read more fun things like I am at the moment.

Yes!! I've been worldbuilding in my spare time for a passion project of mine. It's a fantasy setting I want to write stories in and dm for. Currently i'm focusing on two cities representing two civilizations. One is distinctly Islamic, probably aroujd the 10th century and the Other i'm thinking of basing on that period of irrigation and rice kingdoms in sri lanka I mentioned.

The basic idea I have in mind is that one of the towns has their society based on mutual aid, co owerrship of things and a strong sense of community.

The other is more of a feudlistic society where the labourers are seeing very few benefits of the expansive material wealth their culture is experiencing.
