Something I’m so excited for with Sunrise on The Reaping is that we will finally be freed from the shackles of mainstream Hayffie domination. Probably.
(This is lighthearted please take it as such)

the thing is that unlike providing bombs to the state of Israel, protecting Jews who are us citizens from being attacked by other U.S. citizens is in fact definitely Joe Biden’s job (and something the us gov had a rather checkered history of, considering the continuing prevalence of antisemitic hate crimes) and so while I have no trust in his gov to do a good job with online monitoring or to “fight antisemitism” in a way that doesn’t disproportionately shut down Muslim and Arab voices, I also think there’s a lottttt of people who need to think real hard about posting in favor of blanket violence against an entire ethnic group on social media, something many people take a shockingly dim view of. this wasn’t necessarily a domestic issue but people have worked hard to make it a domestic issues when they started calling for violence against Jews in the diaspora and turned that violence into a reality! Now it unambiguously IS the us, French, British, German, Canadian gov’s job to deal with on a domestic level and you’ve given pro-surveillance islamaphobes the ultimate fascism card by clearly and unambiguously supporting ethnic violence and terror oh my gd

Neuralink methods are unsafe at this stage given the animal deaths and shouldn’t be greenlit for human clinical trials. Calling it eugenics because of that is a bit much though.
There are other research projects doing similar, but safer, methods to help paralyzed people though. I hope people try to get on these research lists and don’t turn to musk out of desperation
It isn’t really a reach to call a procedure with over 60% mortality rate being marketed as a miracle cure to the disabled an example of eugenics. Frankly, there is a stronger word I’m tempted to use for it.
I don’t believe Elon Musk is unaware of the dangers. I don’t think any of the high profile scientists he hired are either.
At absolute best faith I can see Musk simply not caring about the risk and just using this as a desperate attempt at making back some money since he lost so much with twitter and SpaceX.
That’s giving him the most benefit of the doubt imaginable.
However, I would not call it overly cynical to suspect that this may be intentional. Is Musk really stupid enough to just think it’ll be fine because he’s the main character? Yeah, that’s plausible. It’s not any less plausible to say there’s an ulterior motive. Not when he rubs elbows with far-right figures often. Not when he’s a billionaire rich on his parents’ bloodied slave money.
I don’t trust a white man who grew up reaping the benefits of apartheid to be a friend to the disabled. I think the goal in this project has less to do with improving quality of life for the disabled and more for making the disabled less inconvenient to their abled caretakers. It’s very much giving 21st century lobotomy.

israelis get more upset over people pointing out that being a non-Palestinian citizen of israel means being a settler and often an active participant in apartheid, than they do over the fact that there’s an apartheid and genocide happening.
like sorry not sorry, but whenever I see an Israeli whining about how “we’re not our government” or “Israelis are ppl too” it’s like cool. so anyways they discovered another mass grave of Palestinians today.

I kind of hate the discussion on privacy/data selling because there will always be people who are like “I can’t believe all of you plebs let the apps know your data I use Linux so I’m safe 😌” and it’s like well no. I think people care but you can’t really do anything about it. Even you using your duckduckgo and having all your accounts separate from one another is not fooling the government . Like obviously that’s bad but no amount of protecting yourself as an individual will change how pervasive this stuff is in the US

QUICK PSA!
If you get a message from someone claiming to be in Gaza telling you a sob story and asking for a donation they are 100% actually a Scammer. Report them immediately. If you really want to help the victims of this genocide do some research and find reputable organizations to donate to, and of course listen to reputable sources about other ways you can help.

??? Someone was selling a skull they didn’t know what it was. I politely told them what it was.
Apparently 9 other people told them the same thing but they don’t trust people on the internet.
So they don’t know what it is.
???????? Ok??

my toxic trait is every time i post a news article screenshot i don’t link the source despite knowing my news article screenshot posts can and sometimes even will blow up because i am trying to subtly nudge people who use this website to use their search engines when they see an unsourced post and perhaps even get in the habit of doing so. this doesn’t work and i know it doesn’t work but i keep doing it anyway

Singlets stop talking about systems as if you’re an expert because you follow some on tumblr challenge (also warning the tags here are a huge rant so feel free to ignore that)
#first off I think most syscourse is stupid#at the end of the day you’re just arguing with strangers on the internet who probably aren’t going to change their opinion on anything#you’re not going to do anything but make yourself upset and waste you’re time#if someone’s spreading misinfo and they refuse to listen when corrected (assuming you’re actually trying to be helpful instead of just#yelling at them for being wrong because if someone did that to me I wouldn’t listen either) just block and move on#anyway to get the point of this post#I’m in a discord server with this one person and I can’t even remember why or how the topic of syscourse came up (it’s a fandom server)#and this person (a singlet) starts going on a rant about how having x belief about systems is inherently ableist and you shouldn’t trust#anyone who believes that#and it’s like you don’t even have the disorder you don’t have the lives experience to be able to talk on these things#like I guess have an opinion sure but don’t go around telling people (mostly other singlets) what is and isn’t right about a disorder that#your only info on is from people on tumblr#and I didn’t say anything about it because this server is really good for finding places to watch/listen to hard to find or expensive media#and I just didn’t want to fucking deal with it but like if you’re a singlet don’t go around telling people what they should believe about#systems or how cdds work especially when you’re not an expert and you haven’t done actual research into the subject#(also I’m purposely not saying the specifics of what was being said because I don’t want to deal with anyone seeing this and wanting to#argue about those specifics because as I’ve said before arguing about system stuff on the internet is largely pointless)#system#syscourse

This is not a new or unique thought, but the existence of carrds throws me for a loop every single day. I’m a person who grew up in the early internet days where we were constantly (RIGHTLY!) told not to share our personal info with strangers, and now I can spend 2 seconds on a stranger’s profile and find out their name and age and pronouns and location and disabilities and kinks and triggers and who knows what else Y’ALL. STOP THAT. That shouldn’t be normal!!
Like I’m now comfortable saying I’m in my 30s pretty openly but that’s just about all the personal information I’ll share on my profile. No stranger on here who just happens to head to my blog is entitled to any other information about me! And that should be the norm!

see my problem is that if I pray for long enough I actually start to believe I’m somehow going to have the random chance to talk to a celebrity I’m thinking might enjoy the conversation about faith and religion. and I’m like to myself ‘prob not but never say never’ but like. my brain fully believes it and starts preparing for it and I’m just like. sitting here like idk what to do or how to stop this process happening in my head and like. focus on something else

i never realized you were getting those rude comments I'm so sorry, ao3 has a newer feature that makes you able to block certain accounts from commenting, so if you're getting multiple comments from the same person you can block them
awwww I promise I’m just being sensitive & over dramatic because they really aren’t that bad! Im sure people get much worse & I truly get so many positive compliments I shouldn’t dwell on the handful I have gotten that I deem to be rude.
I did learn about that new feature on ao3!! It’s pretty cool they let you do that!
Thanks anon <3

in the midst of getting all of our news and opinions and information in general from social media so many people online have forgotten that it’s the wild fucking west and literally anyone can just lie and say they’re a doctor and that drinking bleach is good for you. I’ve been seeing so fucking many warning posts along the lines of “sometimes people online lie!! reminder that people online can pretend to be someone else and spread false information!!” like yeah I thought this was common knowledge. we as a society need to realize that the internet is not always a reliable source of information, and that the people on here hide behind a shroud of anonymity, allowing them to genuinely be anyone. do not trust xxboyslutxx on TikTok with how to treat your crippling acid reflux or lose 10 pounds or whatever. check your sources or read a book at your local library
