In the movie canon, Haymitch Abernathy shrunk a little.

To put it in practice:

1. A person wants to write a post about how they hate Hayffie. They can and should be able to express that without going into the territory of being mean/inflammatory towards others who like Hayffie.

2. Another person comes across a post that expresses a hatred of Haydove. Just because it expresses hatred of Haydove doesn’t mean it’s also shitting on people who like it.

Half baked post but I do think it’s possible to dislike something in (fictional) media, AND express that dislike, without being mean (towards others).

And I mean this two ways:

People expressing their dislike of something can and imo should do so without being mean to people,

&

People expressing their dislike of something ≠ being mean to people.

I think all of the casting choices were done without “malicious” intentions (at least I think they view it that way), but yeah the actual impacts and how it reads are like atrocious (SotR casting specifically). I am happy for Gale’s stage actor but I am curious to see the rest of the lineup and how it’ll look when it’s all said and done. Hopefully this version of Gale is more sympathetic rather than leaning into him being more of a negative force.

Another minuscule movie/book canon difference: when Katniss says Haymitch was “kind of a looker,” in the books, she was probably seeing someone who looks closer to Gale (Seam features), and in the movie she’d be seeing someone who looks closer to Peeta (blonde)

Though it doesn’t really matter anyway bc Katniss doesn’t say/have this scene in the movies-

Hey uh, asking for a friend…how do we think a trans man would be able to get gender affirming care in THG universe?

‘Realistically,’ I highly doubt the Capitol would allow district citizens or victors that much autonomy over their own bodies. But what do yall think? Could there be a suspension of belief element to fanfics that include this?

Part of me is thinking I could get away with a victor having top surgery or smth similar, what with their new access to resources after winning. I feel like it could also make sense in an OG trilogy centered world where victors are given a tiny modicum of autonomy, almost as a way to subdue them from rising up against all the other issues.

Apparently I was very well timed with my epilogue post today! I didn’t see this before I posted it, I just finally bit the bullet and shared my basic thoughts about Effie and the epilogue and it aligned eerily well. ANYWAY I WOULD BE HAPPY IF THEY CONFIRMED IT (even though…was it really ever a question? I guess it was, but still).
