While I am still enjoying Link Click Season 2, dear god the pacing is a mess
#don't mind me having a moment#link click#normally I complain about shows rushing through scenes#but here everything feels stretched out to the maximum#there is a fight scene in Ep 7 that serves no purpose but to waste the time of the characters forced into it#and clearly also the audiences time#how was season 1 able to tell interesting 20 minute stories#while also building up a greater narrative#but now that that narrative is the focus it just need to stretch everything out as much as possible

What I loved about Cinderella's Castle is it is so entirely about Ella. We know starkid can handle a show with tons and tons of characters but I found it quite refreshing for it to be so wholly her story? I think it was a lovely choice for this show and man Bryce did such a perfect job of it, she is truly such a star
#starkid#cinderella's castle spoilers#cinderella's castle#cc#cc spoilers#I think I want to rewatch it a couple of times to actually ascertain how I rank it with other starkid shows but. yeah what a great show#they used that money well too every aspect was STUNNING#and I could go on and on about the choreography maybe the best from any starkid show it looked so fucking good#anyway. justice for my girls Justine and Lucy I miss you#OH more things I loved! no romance! starkid write fantastic romances which I love dearly but again it was so nice#to just see Ella discover herself and her power. and yes I know her and Tadius are heavily implied but! I love that it was allowed to#just be the very beginnings of whatever they might become!!!#I will say that I predicted the Justine and Lucy thing which is heartbreaking I miss them#but anyway I loved it as a version of Cinderella and I loved it as a musical and MAN the music FUCKING SLAPPED#I made like 7 pages of notes because I regret that I don't remember my immediate reactions to bf and npmd#they are insane and most of them are just 'oh my god' and 'he's just a little boy' whenever crumb was on#ALSO WHO THR FUCK WAS THAT MASTER DWARF CAN WE GET MORE DETAILS ON THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHI IS HE AND HIS WOODBLOCK#OK ALSO ALSO oh my god there are too many thoughts in my brain. also. so it's basically confirmed they want to be Beauty and the beast and#snow white now right?#were there any other fairytale references?#ok fuck it finally last thing verrrry intrigued by how much the audience were clearly part of the story

The funniest thing about Jayce is that while yes, he's juggling other peoples' interests/loyalties, he's only sort of malleable and mostly kind of uncontrollable. People can tell Jayce something and he will in fact listen to it, absorb the new information, but it's a genuine gamble to guess what he does with that information.
Heimerdinger tells him exactly how to avoid punishment for his trial and Jayce DOESN'T do it. Jayce decides to defend himself and the merit of his work. The Medardas want hextech weapons (for varying reasons), Viktor says no, meanwhile Jayce already has blueprints laminated and framed in his room.
Jayce didn't ask to be a Councilor, but he immediately throws himself into rooting out corruption. When Mel tells him he's gonna need to play ball to stay alive politically, Jayce goes, "Ball is life". Then Jayce manages to amass enough political capital to kick off HEIMERDINGER of all people.
Second to Jinx, Jayce is the character that asserts the most agency in the cast. People really try to pull Jayce in this and that direction, but his character, his morals, just who he really is pushes at any supposed binary others try to place him in. The choices he makes always align with his core, and it inevitably puts others in a position to accept the consequences of bringing up the issue to him in the first place.
#arcane#arcane meta#jayce talis#jayce is such an interesting guy who amasses me political power over others who think they're getting something from him#but in reality he really just does his own thing and SOMETIMES it's what the other party wanted#but mostly just blows upmin their face i.e. marcus#jayce is the male piltovan version of jinx if her life wasn't awful and she was an only child#hope that makes sense#i need to make a longer post about how jayce and jinx are misunderstood by the audience as somehow unable to assert autonomy over themselves#when in reality they do it all the time and it constantly affects the rest of the cast#it's just the fact that they're both depicted as emotionally vulnerable that a lot of the audience miss the fact they're#the narrative's heavyweights in terms of affecting the plot#They're the ones making choices and forcing other people's hands#also they're clearly both lionized and held up as symbol of their respective city-state

putting this all under a readmore and not tagging i just wanted to put my thoughts down somewhere .. talking about marius and his fans & tw for mentioning csa / sa
personally. i understand that the marius/armand relationship has been a popular part of the book series for decades and it's fictional and yes i get it. but. i dont understand those fans who encounter people who find it purely horrifying or upsetting and then get mad at them for it. just because of how it's framed in the books as a beautiful gothic love story (filtered through both the author's intention & the skewed perspectives of the two characters involved in it) doesn't mean EVERYONE has to romanticise it and it's only babies or idiots or show only fans who "can't handle gothic fiction".
and then the people who try to convince everyone marius is armand's saviour who only ever treated him with love and kindness really confuse me. like, is it a wholesome relationship built on mutual love? or is it abusive and awful AND loving and caring at the same time? aren't the people who deny marius did anything wrong to armand really the ones who can't stomach enjoying gothic romances and have to twist it into something else?
it's a story of a fully grown man, a millenia old vampire, rescuing a teenager from sex slavery by purchasing him for himself, renaming him, showering him with affection, sexually abusing him, genuinely loving him, treating him like a child and an adult and student and son and lover all at the same time, making his entire world revolve around his master, punishing him emotionally and eventually physically whenever he gets too clingy or aggressive. and it's all done, not under just the 'guise' of love, but from a place of genuine love, and that's how both characters see it. it's entirely damaging and fucked up and the aftereffects of it on armand's mind and sense of self are present for centuries, compounded by everything else he went through. he still draws both comfort and pain from thinking about his past now and even tries to partially recreate the dynamic with someone else both in the book (with daniel, armand taking the role of the master; and keeping young 'mortal slaves' for a time) and in the show (with louis, armand taking the role of the slave)
it is a super fucked up relationship & i'm not one of those people who thinks you shouldn't be allowed to enjoy those in fiction. there's a lot of them that appeal to me obviously, and of course everyone has their own boundaries when it comes to that too. AND i know it's not all marius fans or even all marius/armand fans. i literally don't care what people like in fiction and i think we should all just mind our own business honestly
but it's the people who act like they're the only ones who get that it's just a tragic beautiful romance, that nobody else can read apparently, that 'marius haters' are just looking for things to be mad at that make me go ???????
#or they get pissed at the show for apparently 'making him worse' but. he was already worse#nothing in my opinion in the show has stated 'yeah he was ONLY ever awful and abusive' because clearly A looks back on his time with M#with a kind of sad fondness and reverence. the main source of his pain is how it all ended#the show is just taking the pre existing abuse and making it more obvious to the audience the outside viewer#even if it isnt recognisable to the character. he makes a disctinction between the abuse he experienced in the brothel#and the 'worshipful mercy' of his master#he feels bitterness at the 'donations' but he also felt bitter at M sending him to the brothels to get him out of his hair basically#and then yknow. hes also punished and pushed away for enjoying that#clearly hurt and confused and upset because he doesn't know how to please his master and make him love him all the time#and M DOES love him above all#but sanitizing all of that and making out its NOTHING BUT a tragically romantic monster/human love story..... i dont understand it#im the same with DM yknow its horrifying and beautiful all at once#you have to commit to it if youre gonna enjoy relationships like that i think. embrace how horrible it all is

so much for (tour) dust, the healing tour of all time
#it’s fine like whatever#it doesn’t even affect me#im totally absolutely completely chill about it!!#and i had to cut it out but after they played cfc pete made a point of saying “andy hurley's been dying to play that one”#and he seemed so happy after they played 27 the first time and pavlove the other night#just like....the fact that patrick seemingly had himself thoroughly convinced that the rest of the band hated the record#or they weren't proud of it or didn't really like how it came out#or that he “pushed them too far in a direction they didn't want to go”#but they clearly love the album and wanted to play it and have it be appreciated by the audience just like he did#whatever!!#it's fine!! i'm FINE!!!!!#and thinking about the fact that there was a chorus of people yelling for pavlove when pete said they were gonna play the Holy Grail#im gonna be SICK#also there’s one clip that’s not tourdust …. it’s from when they played headfirst slide the first time in the uk this year#but idc same energy same vibes same ✨healing✨#fall out boy#fob#patrick stump#pete wentz#joe trohman#andy hurley#so much for (tour) dust#tourdust

This is what I did during my spare time... I'm fine.
Side Notes: I didn't add any of the actual players for simplicity's sake, but I did add characters played by the CCs that aren't their main characters such as Arin, ElQuackity, and Sapo Peta.
It will be too complicated to add ex-alliances and spy-related stuff... but if I did! Jaiden will be between the "knows the federation" and "sides with the players" and Etoiles will be between "understands the codes" and "sides with the players" just because there are no real secrets about it if you watch their POVs.
#qsmp#this is what I did in Valentine's Day because my aro-ace ass couldn't think of anything better to spend my time on#also the thing that shock me the most out of this is THAT THE FUCKING DOG WORKS FOR THE FEDS WHAT#also the Watcher may hate the Federation and stuff but only really knows about Egg Island and nothing else#so he is included in the same area as Cucurucho Mr Duck and the Bunnies#and the Fed workers are in between because they LIKE the players 80% of them are friends or more that the other workers ARE NOT#Creation is so new but I think I'm okay in the placement for now just because is not attached to the Players enough to move to where Arin i#also there's a glee on seeing Ayrobot and SOFIA (Max's robo-daughter) in the same place just for perfectly for my little aymaxo brain#also I'm putting all the Cucurucho's on the Feds because there's not much distinguishing Cucurcho from Osito Bimbo and Ourson#also that's Madagio not naked Slenderman... although both of them would be in the same slot#and all the individual gods like Mine Kristin/Mumza Matt and both Cellbit's and Philza's individual god entities are still there#because we know them as the audience but we don't know what the fuck they know and what they can do even if they canonically exist#also I don't know what the fuck is @v@ so clearly deserves that spot despite being able to infect players federation works and the codes

just got a dm abt one of my posts and y'all please don't try and show the hermits (or any minecraft youtuber or content creator for that matter) my posts, i'm uncomfortable with it and don't want any of my posts shown to a cc. if they stumble upon it naturally that's unfortunate but i can live with it since i do maintag a lot (something i REALLY need to stop doing tbh i already know i need to make a tagging system just for my blog that wont clog results) but going out of ur way to show a cc is entirely different and something i am not comfortable with.
no hate to the person at all but even if i wasn't a little silly and weird with it sometimes i wouldn't be comfortable with it, i want my blog to be a purely fandom only space with none of the creators involved <3 please respect this
#which is imo how a fandom space should be#i'm old fashioned and it breaks the fandom etiquette rules i stand by#i ship and stuff and absolutely NO cc needs to be subjected to that please and thank you even if it's a non-ship post#not saying hermits and others cant hang out and interact if they wish hell no but like....#if you as any person with a following willingly go into a fandom space you have to expect to see some things you find weird#doesn't even necessarily mean ship just stuff the cc finds weird :v idk im not phrasing this right but like#the rule with shipping around any sort of media has been to keep it away and not show the creators anything !!! and thats fallen out#of practice the past few years with ppl getting more and more comfortable demanding boundaries and personal info from creators#which isn't right imo bc its like you're trying to see how much you can get away with. u want a guide on how to interact and social skills#which is... huh??? just be polite and keep anything weird away from them like what we were doing#some folks nowadays need “permission” to ship stuff even from SHOWS and shit with no real people and its like wow... huh....#u need it to be canon?? u need everything told to u by the show?? wheres the imagination. the spirit.#the making of everything so far removed from what it once was#like that guy that played nick from heartstopper that had to be outed to play a gay guy. like#idk im so sick of the boundary fandom ppl in mcyt 'what if they saw and made it uncomfortable!! im going to show them!!!!'#you are making them MUCH more uncomfortable than i am by GOING INTO THEIR FACE AND DEMANDING THEY LOOK AT IT!!#AND DEMANDING BOUNDARIES N SHIT... CRAZY.... idk the hermits especially its weird to me bc clearly they understand fandom etiquette#and the dynamic im talking about. most of them understand that by going into fandom spaces they will see things they dont like#which is why a lot of them only like fanart and answer questions asked by fans. even on tumblr !!! where the weird ppl are!!!#they also all seem to understand they are playing characters (citing joel cleo and grian as examples) for their audiences#which is. smth the audience itself doesnt understand most of the time anymore. oh my god they all died in real life in hermitcraft season 8#idk hermitblr used to be a lot more okay with hermitshipping n then a bunch of ppl from other fandoms moved in and its all more negative#and makes me sad. idk...#i never meant for this blog to gain almost 500 followers i just wanted to make silly little ship posts and now im scared to#bc ive gotten hate and its.... bwugh.... tempted to remake blogs and make one thats very clearly just for me and a few weirdos#whatever i went off on a tangent in the tags as usual just pls dont show creators my posts even non-ship ones for this reason#jamies bad posts#talking in tags#serious posts#<- ig??? idk

I had a dream last night where In Stars and Time had gotten a fucking Broadway musical adaptation and I gotta say, waking up to that was confusing but also disappointing because it's not real
#Mari's text#In Stars and Time#I very clearly remember the creator of the game pitched the musical thing like#'The audience for this game are also musical nerds and they NEED a ISAT musical'

Thinking about the train hostage arc in the first Trimax book....and I have some thoughts on some of the takeaways I've seen (in other places).........
I'm ngl it kinda bothers me when people read into the train hostage arc in trimax as "Vash is 100% in the wrong, just like his brother", because that was very much not the intended reading...it wasn't just supposed to be a "look how flawed Vash's ideology is in practice" moment (that's the hospital yuri arc ❤), it was supposed to be a "look how hard it is in this world for Vash to abide to his moral code, and yet he still does it despite the negatives" moment. He wasn't exactly happy with the end solution and wasn't exactly fighting super hard to stop the father from shooting the accused killer—he almost let him do it, even—but he wanted to ultimately stop the cycle of bloodshed and was willing to make himself look like a jackass doing so. The arc is a narrative set-up for the penultimate conflict of the series; it's not so much about the merits of righteous violence vs. pacifism but rather setting the stage for a showdown between vengeance vs. absolution.
Now, would I do the same if I were in Vash's thigh-high boots? No of course not, fuck that one dude in particular lmao. But I don't exactly think Vash is weaker or unprincipled for choosing the option he did, either.
#trigun maximum#trigun spoilers#trigun but also discourse :( sorry guys :((#tbh an interesting thought exercise would be to change certain characteristics of the main conflict and see how the audience opinion change#but I don't think anyone would like that much because those are hard and not actually much fun when you dig into them 😬😬#also this was inspired by the fandom on The Other Site. Nobody specifically here lmao#also also I just want to say I wish more people would analyze this chapter from the perspective of Vash having recently regained his memory#he went from “dude on a crusade of revenge against his brother with barely restrained anger simmering under the surface”#to “dude who completely remembers his childhood trauma and is also aware of the fact that he's a living weapon with a deathcount”#he very clearly doesn't wanna be a weapon and the guilt over killing innocents really obviously weighs heavily on him#and the guilt only becomes more severe over time and feeds into his self-loathing and martyr complex the more clearly he remembers#it's way easy to recognize that he doesn't want people to suffer the way he does even if it makes them seem cowardly to onlookers#once again hitting that “how can I forgive myself if I can't forgive other people and by extension my brother” note#actually this post may be the equivalent of dousing myself in honey and setting myself by an anthill full of bullet ants......hm#hope it doesn't cause drama for people here.....I'll put it under a cut just in case..........#discourse#<- just in case

Willing to bet that Joe Locke’s dialect coach is straight and it’s causing me stress like his pronunciation is fine but that’s not how a queer American person would say that slang
Anyway I’m not opposed to hiring Brits to play Americans but I do think having queer writers and actors is not actually sufficient in this case
#It’s after midnight and I’m being cranky#maybe I’ll delete this in the morning#agatha all along#I’m not blaming Joe to be clear#accents are hard#but I think a production choice was made and it was probably the wrong choice#especially if you are going to cram in a bunch of stereotypical queer American slang into the writing#which is also a Choice#reminds me of the time I was doing a play and the actress couldn’t pronounce Staten Island Ferry correctly#she kept emphasizing the word Island#and a New Yorker will know immediately that it’s wrong#It’s not the pronunciation it’s the way you say the words together#slang is tricky especially intra-community slang#so you better have someone who knows what they’re doing on the production side#especially when that’s clearly your target audience

reading alison weir's new novel; she's adapted and altered the primary source material she's clearly using in a way that is...um. something?
#i mean it's a novel. and it is not called creative license for nothing#i also know im not the target audience and that#the vast majority of the people reading this book are not like me (insofar as i've#read what's available from the archives/state calendar papers from 1533-36...#probably. front to back altogether; chronologically; about a dozen times or so? taken detailed notes etc )#*so i doubt it's a bugbear for many; if any; other than myself#but i was very easily able to pick out the primary source quotes ; and her intent in#placing; for example; a quote from a chapuys report of 1536 in late 1533#and switching the identities of certain people (here; norfolk subbed in for shelton ) for certain incidents#so as to bolster certain theories she clearly has about certain people and their loyalties...#i mean again it's a novel but this is what she does in her nonfiction too; she just has had more liberty to do so here#and there is a reason training in history is important to being labeled 'a historian'#you are to develop your theories from the evidence. not vice versa.#(or more specifically...she does literally the opposite of what historians are trained to do. she molds the evidence to fit her theories. )#anyway. review forthcoming...maybe#i'll have to read her author's note once i'm done with this section to see if she admits to any of these specific alterations#evidence first; theory after! otherwise we end up with all these superficial renderings

Happy birthday Will!
In honorary of this day, I shall share my favourite moment/quote of his:
The time he asked his brother the reason why he has no friends is because he’s a freak.
And the time he woke his friends up at the crack of dawn on summer vacation to play dnd because all day yesterday they said no.
#if they were real people#mike better be hosting a dnd campaign for his birthday or else you will see me on the news#also wills right#his brother at that time has no friends#because my question about jon’s relationships in season 3 will always be who the fuck fagin and the gang is#also the scene in the first image is really heartwarming#sorry im late with a birthday post for him#i did not forget his birthday like clearly everyone in season 4#stranger things#will byers#target audience ->#byler

Speaking of the hypmic stage actors, I've seen a few comments on twitter/x where some were sad about the recasting mostly because they really liked how Takano-san and Hirono-san portrayed the Naughty Busters and the two seem to get along well. Are they good friends IRL? I've yet to see any vids on them hanging out so I got curious about it. (sorry if this is a weird question)
ITS NOT A WEIRD QUESTION I MISS THEIR NAUGHTY BUSTERS TOO LIKE EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO THE MUSIC THEY MADE TOGETHER THEY PERFORM AT EACH OTHERS CONCERTS AND DO EVENTS TOGETHER AND I HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO DO SO EVEN IF THEY DONT HAVE A HYPSTAGE SIZED EXCUSE TO CAPITALISE ON
#vee got an ask#IM GONNA CRY THEY DIDNT HAVE TO GIVE US THEIR VERSION OF THE NB BREAK UP (where ichiro has kuukou’s bandana) BUT THEY DID#hirono-san clearly thinks akira-san is a funny guy bc he tends to bully those he likes lmao and the same goes for akira-san lol#like that last abema interview with the leaders was so fun hirono-san kept making comments from across the room at akira-san#and it kept making him laugh lol#and akira-san’s awkwardness charms hirono-san lmao#hirono kuukou was also pretty handsy with akira ichiro and that’s definitely a facet of their ichikuu i’ll miss 😭😭😭😭😭😭#lol a bimi story i think fondly of is that time hirono-san was a guest performer during one akira-san’s concerts#akira-san and hirono-san have very different audiences in music tho so a while later lol#hirono-san suddenly changed his pfp to something not metal and begged akira-san’s followers to come back pleading he’s not a scary person#and akira-san laughed in his replies LOL#ohhhh and then there was the time akira-san fired hirono-san from team leader in an event he was hosting LOL#hirono-san after btching about it loudly on twitter eventually got revenge(?) by smacking akira-san with a plushie in the event after talk#akira-san was in the middle of reading out mc stuff too it was so funny LOL#i miss them 😭😭😭😭😭😭

you ever just
#just makes me a little#she goes from essentially begging him to stay alive for the people who care about him (for her)#to having him prove in maybe the most unambiguous possible way that when it comes down to it she means more to him than his revenge#to him looking right at her and saying pretty much the exact opposite#the whiplash but also idk the words vs actions...#more than words he couldn't express his feelings with words so he did it another way#his actions have always shown his truth but she needs his words she needs to hear it from him she needs to know he understands it too#brings me back to s6 (what doesn't tbh) - all their missed opportunities all the times they were interrupted or couldn't find the words#how much weight is given to those words even though at this point it's clear to everyone around them and the audience and even to THEM#(even if they only just realize the full reality of it) how they feel about each other something about the showing and the telling of it#you can't imagine how good that feels to say out loud i needed to get to this and you deserve to hear it did you mean what you said#yes i meant what i said every word of it SAY IT AGAIN#and then little yellow house when it's again clearly such a big deal - to lisbon especially but to them both - for her to SAY it#idk i just love it i love a show that gives me endless opportunities to annoyingly and gleefully overanalyze#tm

Fat Man on a Beach (HTV, 1974)
"I'm going to read some more poems now. Erm. It may be that if you want to go and have a cup of tea, this would be a good time. I know that's what you masses are like. The mention of poetry and off you go."
#fat man on a beach#b.s. johnson#classic tv#documentary#htv#michael bakewell#aled vaughan#a frankly incredible and truly unique piece of television. according to Johnson's biographer‚ the novelist Jonathan Coe‚ this film was#described in tv listings at the time as a documentary about Porth Ceiriad‚ a rather beautiful beach on the Llŷn Peninsula in North Wales#it.. is not that. i can only imagine the baffled reactions of an idle audience tuning into HTV in 1974. true‚ this is entirely filmed at#Porth Ceiriad‚ but any element of travelogue (or even really of documentary) is dispelled almost immediately: the first lines heard are#those of an unseen narrator who tells us we are about to watch a film about a fat man on a beach. 'Do you really want to watch that?' he#asks incredulously. it's a challenge‚ the first of several from Johnson‚ who spends the next 40 minutes variously pottering about the sands#mugging to the camera‚ reciting poetry (his own and others; literary and dirty) and baring his soul. I've never seen anything quite like it#I'm not sure that much has been made that is quite like it tbh. Johnson was a fiercely original‚ brilliant mind; he was a novelist#a poet‚ a critic and a filmmaker. he was also‚ when this first aired on uk tv‚ dead. a few weeks after completing filming on this‚ his#final work‚ he sadly took his own life. i mention it not as a grim factoid but because it is a vital contextualisation of this film; the#play has been described before (and play is not the right word) as a sort of loose form manifesto from Johnson‚ a laying out of his own#peculiar philosophies and interests in a disjointed manner‚ peppered with asides and distractions and filming mishaps (all kept in the#final product). for me‚ the feeling was inescapable that this was like viewing a suicide note. whether Johnson had already come to some#conclusion on that front or not‚ the fact is that his own obsession with morbidity‚ with the spectre of death and of decay (it runs right#through his work‚ particularly his work in film) transforms this into something almost confessional. there's a section of the film where#the author recalls witnessing the aftermath of a traffic accident‚ a motorcyclist thrown through wire fencing and sliced like cheese#the absurdity of the comparison is lingered on‚ Johnson almost stalls and appears to lose his train of thought (briefly discussing instead#the modern mass production of cheese) but he also seems clearly affected‚ delivering the tale in a halting‚ reverent tone#not that this is all darkness and gloom; it's just as often funny‚ or surreal (the film frequently cuts away to a bunch of bananas‚ only#later explained by one of Johnson's biographical recollections) and includes visual puns‚ bad jokes and a few moments of physical comedy#the writer doesn't seem distressed. rather‚ he seems... if not at peace‚ then as though he has come to terms. confident in his own beliefs#and ideals. but perhaps that's reaching too far‚ or reading in what the viewer wishes to read in. the sad fact is that Johnson took his own#life‚ but he left us with a body of work unlike almost anything else‚ and which is still being celebrated and analysed today. rip bsj
