Sagittarius Placement Observations

To all of my Sagittarius placements, ensure you have people that are open-minded and optimistic. Or else that shit is gonna bring you down and feel like shit. Be wild and free. Dream big and that will manifest.

What is covered: Mercury, Moon, Venus, Mars, & general/random observations (at the end).

Mercury

Usually have humour that people find offensive. They're also very sarcastic. Ie, The UK has humour that many find offensive and don't understand when whatever they're saying (to them) isn't meant to be taken as offensive or to heart and that is just their way of bantering/joking around. Curse like sailors when they're upset/mad about and sometimes even when it's about something that they're passionate about. As much as they love to be playful and all, they are very optimistic and open-minded which makes them great for deep conversations They love to exaggerate things and be drama queens even when things weren't deep or serious (and they know it .. usually). It sometimes like a mix of Leo and Gemini energy if you ask me. But due to this they may have a tendency of jumping into conclusions. May struggle with paying attention to detail and the nitty-gritty of things. Bold.

Moon

Usually very adventure, craving challenges and new experiences. May also be spontaneous due to this. Often they're smarter than you think they are and they tend to be sly about their intelligence. Carefree and optimistic in nature. Might've grown up with optimistic mother, hence their optimism. Ride or die type of friends. Applies for all Sag placements but I see this especially with Sag Moons.

Venus

May enjoy traveling with their partners and trying new things. Enjoys a balance of independence in their relationships. Might feel restrained to love because they have a lot of love for those that they love and may not want to seem clingy or overwhelm their partners. Tend to be go with the flow with their relationships.

Mars

If you ask me ... Sagittarius Mars are the scariest. Jupiter (Sags home) is the planet of expansion. You put that together and boom, you got a ruthless ass Mars placement.

May get annoyed with people with narrow mindsets, double standards, liars, being controlled/those who try to control others, arrogance, complaining, lack of action to things. Laughs shit off even in awkward situations. Tend to be very energetic. Playful and may act like a kid.

General

Really well educated and may have thought about getting multiple degrees, a PhD, etc. Really intuitive. Loves to travel and may/often have either been to a lot of places or plan to go to a lot of places. Also tends to travel often. Enjoys learning and trying different cultures, languages, and cusine/food. Might have deep voices. Tend to be detached and have detachment issues. Might also have a avoidant attachment style. Are able and may tend to be the ones making/willing to make the first moves. Due to your 10H Virgo, you may prioritize and care for your career and profession a lot. Often taking your time and however much is needed/necessary to prefect your craft and profession. Really wide range of music they like and listen to. Might be open to drugs or at least trying them. Usually are wild when they're younger but chill down as they grow older. Easy going and don't like to be tied down. Due to Sags 2H/3H being ruled by Saturn you may be sensitive or struggle to singing and making different sounds from your voice. Tend have deep, philopshial questions about life, universe, and even themselves. Wants to find out the truth of things. Tend to have a lot of skills and hobbies.

so i was having bubble tea earlier and i started thinking,,,,what cod characters would like it? i feel like price def wouldn’t,,simon wouldn’t mind it but he does def think its too sweet and proper tea is superior and blah blah blah (i acc don’t know im kinda divided on that like i hc him as a sweet tooth but bubble tea,,,ehhh i feel like he wouldn’t like it all that much like he’d be all grumbly about it,,, idfk

but after your deployment, you are the one to arrange where the 141 meet up. it's a little ritual you guys have developed to stay connected in between missions, one that makes your friendship seem a bit more real. sometimes the only thing that keeps your eyes open and heart pumping. and since you're an absolute fucking menace, you ask if you can meet around the heart of london- and then drag them all into the nearest bubble tea store you can.

price... doesn't end up liking it. takes a total of two sips, nearly chokes on the pearls, and then sets the cup down. he claims he's been around long enough to know that this- like many other foods, is probably some 'trendy millennial bullshit that'll disappear in a solid few', but that doesn't help ease the insane side eye that he gets from the cashier.

but to your surprise, ghost seems somewhat okay with it. his face doesnt really change (from what you can tell- his mouth is still hidden due to some face mask he put on), but he seems neutral, relaxed, even. he mutters something along the lines of how it isn't too bad, but it doesn't beat a cuppa- to which you chose to ignore, and how he'll probably just stick to having an earl grey in the mornings. but a few months later, you catch him at the same boba store, and you cant help but giggle to yourself.

soap fucking inhales the drink. its genuinely concerning, to say the very least. he seems to like.. unhinge his jaw like some kind of snake, and then inhales the whole drink in what you think is a millisecond. and since he's the only scotsman on the team- thinks the whole 'tea n biscuits' ritual his colleagues have is utter stupidity, so not only does he now FREQUENTLY drink boba because he likes it- he also drinks out of utter spite.

gaz is the only one with a seemingly respectable opinion about boba, unfortunately. he's had it before, multiple times- it appeals to his sweet tooth and is the occasional treat after long missions. but unlike you, gaz does not value peace, and seems to keep egging soap on in chugging unreasonable amounts of the drink. (and he doesnt mention it, as he does not want to face the same punishment as you did, but he thinks that bubble tea is sometimes, just sometimes better than his cuppa.)

As I said, I am having a Finrod phase, in particular a "Finrod talking to [a character I never before realized he would interact with]" phase.

So, Sauron. No, not the song duel. But a couple of things, more or less noncanon. [Long post after cut, mentions of Sauron's various deeds but not detailed]

Sauron early (just after the War of Wrath, he goes with Eonwë) redemption arcs.

So how would the interactions between him and Finrod look?

First, there's the "I tortured you and got you killed" issue. I think if Sauron was actually remorseful, Finrod would forget that without a problem. (Again: in my reading of it, as opposed to many people's readings, Finrod is not traumatised. It was hard, but he did heal, mentally too.)

Second, there is the more difficult issue of "You fed my men, for whom I was responsible, to a werewolf". finrod would not let it slide unless all of the Ten forgave Sauron. But I think they eventually would, following Finrod's example. Not as fast as him, but not very slowly either.

Third there's the "You tortured my half-cousin at Morgoth's orders," which is even more of an issue, because said cusin is in the Halls of Mandos (at best) and probably won't get to forgiving anyone for a long time. So, for sake of exploring the situation, let's assume that Morgoth did the torturing himself, because, I don't know, he found it fun?

And the general "You tortured people and spirits" but this is not personal, so Finrod would not feel like it's his job to be angry about it, it's the role of the Valar to judge Sauron, and they did. (Have I forgotten something ugly that Sauron did in the FA?)

So assuming all that, and assuming that Sauron— ok, I should call him Mairon at this point— would be allowed to roam relatively freely and talk with people, I think he and Finrod would get along relatively well. Not very well, but well.

Because assuming all is forgiven, and looking just at the personalities — Finrod loves bling and gems and gold. Mairon in many fanons loves bling too, and even if he personally doesn't, he's a Maia of Aulë (even if he shifted to, say, Nienna, because it fit more with his mental state now, he still has a lot of skill). He would be great working with gems, we know that he canonically was great working on jewelry with elves even when he was evil, and I would assume being good makes him more attuned to beauty.

Also, I have a strong HC that Finrod would build something similar in style to Nargothrond (simply because it was beautiful) and I can very well see Mairon helping with that, and trying to convince Finrod to make everything more symmetrical (with little results).

And Mairon, being one of the few have-been-evil Maiar (and much calmer than Ossë) would, I think, understand a certain melancholy that Finrod has. the mourning of the things we lost by our bad choices. Like Nienna's mourning for Arda Marred, but more personal. More "we have a part in this".

And this would first take some convincing (probably by the Teleri) for Mairon to agree, but they would reenact the song duel. It would feel liberating for both of them, to be able to face it and smile. And they would learn that they really like singing together, like making arguements in the form of a song. (Often about the role of symmetry in art)

Mairon would not understand Finrod's deeper philosophical, how to call it, unrest? But he would respect that there's something he can't understand (It's probably one of the most important lessons he needed to learn to come back). That's why they would never be really close: their deepest passions are just too different.

2. Canon Sauron

They would not talk after Finrod's death, of course, but Finrod would have thoughts.

Imagine: Second Age, Numenor is built, Finrod visits it once in a while, then they get a little less friendly and he gets distracted by an architectural project, or child-raising, or whatever and when he emerges back into the world, Tar-Palantir is nearing the end of his reign and everyone is forbidden from visiting Numenor, because it's too dangerous for the Elves (morally, spiritually).

And then Pharazon claims the throne and the repressions return (those things are known in aman to those who are interested and trusted to be able to handle difficult knowledge — like Finrod — because the eagles and the palantir of Tol Eressea and wasy like that).

And those Men are claiming what?

Finrod begs to be allowed to go there, to talk to them, because he would tell them all the things— he is denied, and of course he knows better than to disobey the Valar. But it does take Námo for Finrod to stop asking.

And then Pharazôn captures Sauron, and this feels bad, this feels so bad, and it does become bad, and the palantir cannot see into the golden dome, but a lot of Men start appearing in the Halls of Mandos, and some of Námo's Maiar, unlike their lord, do gossip.

@edennill you asked in one post: do all the Númenoreans even land at the Halls? I would say: there won't be a clear, provable no (Námo does not say and none of the Maiar knows all what's going on in the Halls) but there would be such gossip. And a lot of speculations as to what this means. And the Maiar would bring the discussion out to all the Eldar who would be interested in listening to it. Definitely they would gossip about it to Finrod, after all this is the kind of thing he seemed interested in.

Imagine Finrod standing at a seashore cliff, looking East and screaming in a powerless rage until his voice runs out.

And then the fleet sails and again it takes a very clear and direct order for Finrod to not wait for them at the shore. And after the sea settles, after the Undying Lands are sundered, he stands at the shore again, wailing, mourning, screaming wordlessly, because he would not dare say the questions that are circling in his mind.

(And just after he calms down enough to return home, he gets visited and yelled at by Curufin's wife or whatever relative that stayed in Aman for not having been there with the rest of the family, and doesn't he even care aboyt Tyelpe? And he asks "What happenned with Tyelpe?" and gets slapped in the face.)

(Yes, Finrod, like all the Noldor, has some hyperfocus tendencies. And maybe not very much contact with the Feanorian side of family at this point.)

And then he learns that, by the way, Glorfindel was sent to Middle Earth to deal with Sauron. Because, you know, there may be a Balrog involved eventually. And no, he cannot go too. First, there may be a need for stealth and second, he clearly is not impartial about the whole Sauron situation.

It takes some processing and some more questions for Finrod to realize that yes, Sauron is very likely still alive.

And then he probably goes to yell on the cliffs again.

3. Late redemption arc Sauron.

…basically the same as above, but with more bluescreening on Finrod's part.

I mean, just imagine it. Finrod is so furious, and justly so, because. Just: because. (And also, tyelpe.)

But also: Sauron has been judged already and it's really not Finrod's job.

But also: he is so angry.

And it would be crazy for Mairon too — I mean, in addition to the normal crazy— because Finrod would be one of the evry few people who Gets Is. Who just get a) how bad it was b) which parts were the worst c) all the implications of him eing still alive d) how insane that is. But also, Finrod would not talk to him, or see him, because he just can't stand it mentally.

And then one day Finrod would, when wandering the shores, find a monument in the memory of Númenoreans —all of them— and there's something about it that resonates with him. there is some truth in it (even if it's too symmetrical). He would plant flowers there, and sing for long. Sometimes he would feel watched, but nobody would appear.

When he would return, there would be more flowers, and the best parts of his song carved into the stone, more intricately than he ever could. He would sing more and it would reeat for a long time: a dialogue of mournings.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Laws of Attraction (Sat iQIYI) 2-3 of 8 - Oh good, we now know that Thailand has the same statutory rape laws as the US. Dub con is as dub con does. MEANWHILE Oh my God I love evil lawyer cutie so much. Him and his beautiful weaponized smile, maybe my new favorite character. I like the way this director is playing with noir mystery tropes, settings, and archetypes too - it’s feeling very 60s pulp, I’m getting gay Travis McGee vibes. Grandma knowing that her grandson likes boys is so sweet. I have to be completely frank here, this is what I wanted from both Manner of Death and KP. I truly love this show

Hidden Agenda that isn’t hidden (Sun GMMTV YouTube) ep 3 of 10 - It’s a very Cyrano de Bergerac kind of narrative... If Cyrano fell in love with Christian instead of Roxanne. Mock date was fun.

Dino is getting a bit too controlling and obsessive for me so it slid down the ranks. I much prefer La Cusine’s version of this dynamic. The friends protecting Dino’s interests were funny tho - boy is so obsessed he outsources his stalking.

I have to say, I watch this show after Tokyo on purpose. (I need the pallet cleanser.) Still, I’m scared that the perception will be that Bu Xia is using Jiang Chi, not in love with him, when the truth about ghosts comes out. Why doesn’t BX’s useless sister do something for her disaster brother? I guess JC likes a needy boy? Oh no, the kiss confusion. Lip touch but rejection (?). Nooooo. I suppose they have to draw this out for 10 eps. Gah, they’re so cute. But BX is a bit dim, isn’t he? Poor thing. 

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) 4 of 12 eps - Shin is such a worrywart, over protective, over the top boyfriend. I guess we saw a little bit of give from Minato? More than usual, baby steps. This is Japan after all.

Tokyo in April is... AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 7 of 8 - Japan’s favorite trope = the running of the gays. Kazama knows everything now. Ep ends on one of my few triggers. SKIP! Japan you better NOT go there.

Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 11-12fin - terrible ending, he turned back into a cat and the whole thing was pointless. I am very annoyed. 4/10 FATALLY FLAWED

SO I did a quick strip about the kids meeting Ray a while ago.... I think it was one of my first redbomb drawings

In my head it was meeting Red & then the kids birth that pushed Buggy to reach contact with Ray again. He was probably reluctant to it at first, but having three gremlins screaming in his ear 24/7 that they wanted to meet "gramp Ray" ended up killing his will.

I like to think that Ray and Shakky were absolutely delighted by meeting Red and the kids, since they don't have any child on their own. Plus with Ray basically adopting Luffy during the TS it put another coin in my "Buggy kids and the strawhats are like cusin" box, pretty much to Buggy's displeasure.

Also I think that Shakky and Red get along really well (and Red just love asking Ray about embarassing childhood memories of her clown hubby. Poor Bugs. Everyone is against him at the end of the day.)

Reading Rachel Laudan’s Cusine and Empire which really got me thinking about like- decolonized and deindustrialized food ways and what that looks like practically as well as the possibilities for new food technologies that remain unexplored due to the homogeneous adoption of the ingredients and processing of the colonial palate.

Just take wheat flours and refined cane sugar for example, the demand for which has for centuries justified the mass theft of land, forced labor of enslaved people, and widespread ecological destruction in order to cultivate. These products have unique qualities but are only one of hundreds of possible flours or sugars that can and have historically been processed by the human animal for consumption. But the vast majority of alternatives have ended up in stasis (at best) after colonization pushed aside traditional staple starches and sweeteners made from local ingredients and using regional methods. Food sources and technologies of course spread through more friendly means, not just via subjugation / cultural genocide, and when exchanged willingly can still outright replace extant staples but it’s infrequent. More often they are adopted alongside preexisting cuisines, ingredients or techniques mixed and matched with those already at use in a region.

Considering my own locale as an example i wonder what my diet might look like if methods of acorn meal and manzanita flour refinement and extraction of sugars from fruits and saps had been allowed their natural course of advancement. It also encourages me to get into more projects around this line of thought: making sustainable foods that are of place both in material ingredients and the processes of their transformation. Reforming the palate is a piece but we also continue to limit ourselves creatively, nutritionally, and practically by not looking beyond a small selection of staples. Literally a million sources for protein, carbs, fats, sugars, salts, etc and as many ways of refining said necessities without monoculture, factory farming, exploitive labor, or mass waste. And there are a lot of resources to start from when it comes to indigenous recipes and food ways, most of that knowledge isn’t totally lost it’s just been undervalued and ignored. Anyway… a long and likely incoherent post all to say i wanna start compiling a regionally specific cookbook for the post-industrial world.

Hi. Sorry, if this is anyoing. I find Rick Riordan's portray of some of the gods, and goddess interesting, and like le, not all but some. For exemple I really like Hestia, Horus, Seth, Artemis, Nephthys, Thoth, Bess, Tawaret, Anubis, Apollo, and Hermes (I can't really have an openion about how he portrays the Norse gods, because the Magnus series haven't been translated to my language yet, and buying and ordering books in English here costs a lot of money, so I have to wait (there is a gossip that they will publish it, but they say this sainc at least 3, or 4 years)) . And I have to thank Rick Riordan's books that I got into mythology, and started learning it, and that I new want to write stories based on it, and started watching Overly Sarcastic Productions. But there is a need to criticis how he portray some gods, and goddess, and then there is also a something that both him, other writers, and people who talk about mythologys forget.

One problem is Demeter. She didn't tried to kill everyone, so they give her daughter back, the reason why everything almost died was her sadness. The sadness of the mother when they child gets married is a thing (for both sons, and daughters at least I heard it), which is a somewhat common thing, even if the realetionship of the child, and they partner is healthy. I was at my cusins wedding, and my mother said that she will cry aty wedding. This is because they child, is no longer a child, but an adult. Yes I know that in the story can mean something else, because of it's age. But I still think that "Demeter sadness", would be a lot more better then "Demeter tried to kill everyone, so she can get her daughter back because she is an opsesed mother".

Next problem is Hera. I don't want to excuse her actions, by any means. She married Zeus, because he raped her, and out of shame because of it. And this marriage her only source of pride, and probably a way to try to get rid of the shame she feels. Zeus's affers brings her the feeling of shame back. It gives more deapht, portays Hera more humeanly, and is more acuret to mythology (there is just this one version of this myth). And with good write this could be writen in a way that no justify what she does to Zues's other victoms.

Next problem is Zeus's portray. I think the only thing I have to say, is that Zeus is the only gods who doesn't have any version where he don't rape someone. (the only god who don't raped, or kidnaped anyone in any versions is Ares.)

Next problem there is no cannon, and many myths have many defrent version. This is true for Medusa's origin story. In some versions she was a monster from birth, alongside her sisters, in other version she was once a human. We all know this version but it has two version. One where Poseidon rapes Medusa in Athena's temple, then Athena cursed her to punish her. And in the other older version Medusa consented to the act. And there are many more versions of almost every myth, in all mythologys, and I think this can be interesting thing when it cames to writing stories based on mythologys.

Sorry if I sound stupid, or anyoing, and sorry that this is long. I just wanted to write this for so long. And sorry for the grammar, and spelling mistakes English is not my first language.

I completely forgot I had an inbox for a while so idk how long this has been here but I’ve finally got around to it! I find this sort of discourse very interesting, and I agree for the most part with what you’re saying!

I heavily dislike interpretations that villainise Demeter in Persephone and Hades’ story too. Lots of modern retellings do this to romanticise Persephone and Hades, and its quite sad (and frustrating). Demeter freezing the crops is such a powerful story about a mother’s love, and its tragic that its been so twisted in modern retellings of the myth. Web comics like ‘Lore Olympus’ and ‘Punderworld’ come to mind for this, but (and maybe this is because of my ass memory of the series… it’s been a while since I read it) I don’t remember Persephone and Demeter’s story being touched on much in the Riordan’s books. I feel like it may have, but I can’t remember explicitly. I remember Hades and Persephone’s relationship being quite rocky though!

I hear what you’re saying about Hera too! She’s been under a lot of fire recently and I know the PJO series plays a large part in that! I can think of ‘Blood of Zeus’ being another factor in this villainising narrative of her, and even though there were some efforts to make the audience view her as sympathetic in that show, it seemed a little backhanded (overemotional woman blinded with rage and taking it out on the wrong people). I agree that it seemed a bit much to portray her as a villain in the series, but I’ll raise two things:

PJO was a series created with children or young teens as the target audience. so the series can’t be that loyal to the original myth, considering how dark it is.

Hera was a good antagonist, and her values and motives in the series were the most accurate to how the Greek gods actually were at the time. They simply did not view mortals as anywhere close to equals, but tools to bring glory to their names. They looked after them as long as they served their interests. A lot of her ‘hate’ stems from the fandom’s misogyny, I believe. It also doesn’t help that the other Greek gods in the series were reduced to caricatures of what they actually were, such as Ares (mean and violent), Aphrodite (shallow and vain), Hades (cold and distant) and Poseidon (cool swag fish dad ig). In all honesty, I understood Hera’s motives the most and I think she was written pretty well. I don’t understand why the fandom hates her so badly unless it’s misogyny or the fact that she was too good of a villain, and felt like a real threat to the characters (the Greek gods were badass, but super scary!).

However, there was that book that Riordan did write about the Greek gods that no doubt contributed to Hera’s ridiculing (that being ‘Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods’ told in the perspective of Percy). He mentioned Zeus ‘tricking’ Hera into marrying him, but disregarded the seriousness of it and continued to make fun of her. I understand its still a kids book so he couldn’t do much, as well as its in character for Percy to ridicule her, but still… I see why some people get upset at that portrayal of her as well. Especially because Hera has had a long-winded past of being villainised and made fun of for her actions, which all stem from deep-rooted misogyny.

Zeus’ portrayal fits hand-in-hand with Hera’s, to be honest. Riordan couldn’t explicitly show how he actually was, so he omitted some stuff, which was fine. It’s funny you make that point about Ares being the only god who never encroached the boundaries of his lovers, because he’s depicted as a misogynist in the series towards his daughter. Which irks me a lot.

Medua’s depictions are also very contested. I believe, and I don’t know if I’m 100% correct, but I’m pretty sure that in the original Greek myth, Medusa had always been a gorgon, and was never human. The myth of Medusa being raped by Poseidon in Athena’s temple is a Roman adaptation, and I think that story is the more popular interpretation currently. I also think that’s the story Riordan was kind of going with, considering he wrote Medusa in the first book to be in love with Poseidon (and in the original myth they had no sexual relationship). Which is… yeah. Disgusting. Again, not saying that Riordan should’ve strictly stuck to that very graphic interpretation, but he didn’t have to portray her like that. And this could’ve been avoided if he did enough research on more interpretations of the myth.

All in all, I don’t think Riordan was genuinely malicious, just ignorant to the implications his portrayals of the gods would have. There’s also the fact that he probably didn’t know how big of a hit Percy Jackson would be, and how much influence it would have over general media surrounding Greek mythology (mostly Greek mythology, but Norse and Egyptian too!). I wasn’t even aware of how problematic it was until this account started gaining a larger following, and so I also had to do research on the topic myself! There’s an assumption that Greek gods don’t have influence over people today, but there are some out there who worship them, and we shouldn’t dismiss that because its a smaller religion.

recipe 1

as per my deal with a hungry entity, i am posting the occasional recipe. i am not a professional chef, and these are not written formally. i hope these humble offerings will still suffice.

avgolemono soup

this is basically a creamy soup with no dairy, instead using a mixture of eggs and lemon juice. many different cultures have versions of this as a sauce or a soup. i'm using the greek name as it is the most common in the u.s.

personally, i'm familiar with it through sephardic cusine. kosher law forbids mixing dairy with meat, and thus most cream sauces and soups were forbidden. this proved a wonderful substitute. the ingredients are easy to come by, and while it requires some concentration it doesn't take that long to make.

tools

a pot. i use my dutch oven but pretty much any pot will do. just don't use a saucepan.

large heat proof bowl

whisk

spatula. i prefer to use a wooden one.

ladle.

cutting board

knife. it just needs to be sharp enough to chop onions

ingredients

salt and pepper. i like kosher salt and have a pepper grinder with a blend of black, white, and red peppercorns, but that's just me.

3ish tablespoons olive oil. just enough to cover the pan and cook the onions. i've tried shmaltz and butter as well, and while i wouldn't recommend substituting it can be done in a pinch.

1 yellow onion. or a white onion. just not a red one. i've tried using a few shallots instead and i wasn't a fan, but some people might like it.

3 or 4 eggs. this will impact texture. 3 eggs to 1/2 cup of lemon juice will result in a slightly lighter and fluffier soup and four eggs to 1/2 cup lemon juice will be slightly thicker and creamier soup.

8 cups chicken broth. i just use better than bullion. if you want more control over the saltiness, i'd recommend getting low-sodium broth and salting to taste.

1/2 cup lemon juice. use fresh lemon juice. it's one of those cases where you really can taste the difference, and citrus juicer are inexpensive. if you're unsure how many you'll need, just grab a bag.

1 cup orzo. arborio rice (a starchy short grain rice used to make rissoto) can also be used, although i'd recommend only using 1/2 to 3/4 cups of that.

shredded chicken. just get a rotisserie chicken and shred it yourself. i prefer breast meat in this dish, but you can add dark meat or even chicken skin if you want. add as much as you want. i'm not your mom.

fresh dill.

instructions

shred the chicken

chop or dice the onion according to your preference. if you don't know how, just google some techniques. and use the cutting board. if you don't have one, get one. you need it. season with salt and pepper.

if you haven't already, juice those lemons and measure it out.

gather all your ingredients and tools. trust me, it's way easier.

heat the olive oil in your pot/dutch open/whatever over medium heat

add the chopped/diced onions and sautée until softened. how much is up to you.

add the chicken broth and bring to a boil.

add the orzo and cook until tender.

in the mean time, combine the eggs and lemon juice in the heat-proof bowl and whisk together. don't half ass this. you should end up with a fluffy, light mixture.

now here comes the tricky part. when the orzo is cooked, reduce the heat until the soup is at a gentle simmer (i'd aim for low-medium). then, SLOWLY add about one cup of hot broth to the egg-lemon mixture WHILE WHISKING THE MIXTURE. you can use a measuring cup or your ladle. this can be tricky to do alone, so if you prefer you can get someone to pour the broth or whisk the mixture for you.

then, slowly begin to add the mixture into the soup while CONSTANTLY WHISKING THE SOUP. if done incorrectly, the soup will curdle and you'll end up with something more like egg drop soup. go slow, and pay attention. if the soup gets above a gentle simmer, turn down the heat more. don't stop whisking for more than a few seconds though. i told you this part was hard.

add the chicken. it shouldn't take more than a minute to heat through.

remove from heat and adjust seasoning. serve hot, and garnish the soup with fresh dill. you can skip that last part if you want to, but i think it really brings the dish together flavor wise.

-funfact: he was checking the time on the day of the strike and his sister too did a double take upon seeing his face in combination with the clock. But she wasnt like “oh i thought this was my brother” but instead “oh i thought this was my father for a second, but since he’s way young it isn’t him” and didn’t think about it any longer.

ohhh nonny keronian cuisine is definitely something i need to go into deep deep thoughts about! i would say its not as developed as id like it to be, id love to draw out specific dishes and stuff.

the complicated fun of the cuisine of space faring species us the fact that they almost definitely brought over, or took inspiration from the foods of other planets, if demeed edible for a keronian. like how in america several dishes from other countries got modified into more "americanized" forms, as we as humans all have different ways of preparing our food to out tastes, which can also vary from region to region... this opens up the world of dishes from other countries within keron itself as well LOL. i need to think about that too!

but im running my mouth off. in my interpretations keronian diets started off as primarily insect-based, with fruit/plants as the secondary component (i know that there arent actually any herbivorous frogs on our earth, but since these guys are aliens i do loove playing around with their biology haha :-)) and then meat being thrown in a bit later on. kerons love for insects still goes strong - you can find them candied/carmalized, fried or breaded for more of the crunch factor, spiced or sweetened, however you like, larvae toasted or boiled (you can get a glimpse of one in my girodoro pmv - its a little lightly sweet tasting guy usually eaten at campfires. gross marshmallows for us humans) limbs of particularly large insects being sold as snacks (one of keroros disappointments when coming to earth was finding out just how small the average insect is there. i have a doodle somewhere. pekopon has fallen...) and insides being grinded up to a nice cream and such. thats a tadpole food mainly, but i dont see why grown keronians cant eat it!

you can imagine that being combined with fruit (well. vegetables too. the two blend together in my head due to the nature of being a Thing From Plant That You Eat) a plenty, i think plenty of bugs are fed with them before being prepared (iirc thats a thing that we do, people give their feeder insects vegetables for a more nutritous meal for their pet later on... its called gut loading!), which reminds me that i imagine zeroro being fed the healthiest, top-quality and absolutely fully sanitized and parasite-free bugs as a kid. hes got a rich as fuck family they couldve hired a private farm for all i know. its funny to think about. but coming back to plant stuff, i imagine juices and teas would be a hit as well, there is a doodle i posted a while (...about a year) ago that shows a tea made from glowing leaves from another glowing plant post that i made. the ziv stuff goes deep im sorry. ya think it stains tongues like those ice pops they sold back in the day? makes you think....

fruit alone just opens up so much for the world of baking. i dont like fruit in my pastries, but i definitely respect the grind. we put that stuff in everything in so many forms its kinda wild. just imagine all the cutesy designs that could be made for them...

in the anime, they are very much shown to like and eat earth foods, in fact i dont think a lot of alien food shows up other than like, these weird food monsters, burei cola aka kid friendly alcohol, the keron figs from kero zero (love them...) and the yumyum bars from a chibi kero episode that are like, just chocolate bars i believe? i could throw in some funny quirk to them myself i think....

i do recall them eating foods that are oretty much 1:1 to earths in chibikero? the lame side us that no one on the staff really thought about designing any cool space stuff for them to eat, but the cool side is that it can imply some importing from earth. ya think thete are some sellers who just casually work with aliens or is it a weird process of an alien disguising as human -> getting the foods -> getting them to their planet? i like to lean more towards the former since the earth in keroro gunso just really seems to have a bunch of weird connections to aliens outside of the main cast. most of them are from the past (the pyramids where sababa rests, all the kiruru ruins, the unknown human and keronian from the saburo and kururu episode where they fight the sound guy, and i think the kappa the ghost girl knew is implied to be a keronian... but i havent really watched those episodes) but i definitely dont doubt that they still have connections in the modern times. its a lot of fun to think about when it comes to interplanetary trade.

i always had just a biiit of beef with how keronians just settle in with earth foods and other things so casually, i really wish they were a bit more like irkens where plenty things that are ordinary to use pose harm to them. but also kg doesnt have the same gross aspect as iz does so i can understand why they didnt do that. no keroro getting horrid burns from baloney for me....

A Typical Day

She enjoys her breakfast with her family. Most mornings after breakfast are spent training with the troops. After training she freshens up, and gets dressed, she heads to the markets and interacts with the public — she loves shopping and buying from the artisans that have set up for the day and buying fresh produce from the farmers. She always makes sure to get something for her family as well as something for her ladies-in-waiting. Once she’s done at the market she goes back home and distributes her gifts, and if she got something for herself she loves to try it on and make different outfits with her already extensive wardrobe. After a snack she does some light studying, it’s always something different; some days it’s the history of Cinnabar, maybe different fight/sword forms so she can improve even more, she just wants to keep learning. If she’s not in the mood for studying and just wants to have fun/let out some steam she goes to the dance hall and practices her dancing. Sometimes she’s in there alone but other times others join in on the fun. Once she’s satisfied with her practice, it’s usually time for dinner with her family. Dinner is a big deal at the Cinnabar castle— most staff join the royal family for dinner.

Cinnabar is a nation rich with culture, art, cusine, and ore. Cinnabar started out as a small civilization that settled in the area. Slowly it expanded, and eventually the people discovered ores within their earth and the nation quickly expanded and improved. The first ore was Cinnabar which is how the nation would gain its name. As the nation expanded they found other ores to which they attribute their growth too, they would name their bigger cities after these minerals.

Besides ores and minerals, Cinnabar is abundant in fertile soil thus they have a variety of crops not found elsewhere and enables them to trade and make profits from other countries.

Cinnabar is a kingdom rich with culture. Its unique culture is unlike any other. With dishes that are hard to replicate, not only due to the ingredients that are unique to Cinnbar, but no precise measurements are ever used. Cinnabar also has traditional dances that date back to before Cinnabar was established. The more traditional dances feature rhythmic drum beats along with colorful headdresses. Cinnabarian modern dances feature lively melodies that often feature guitar and recently developed brass horns. Cinnabar also prides itself on its traditional embroidery that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, this embroidery is often donned on dance wear of the modern dancers.

But all the eventually changed when Obsidian unexpectedly invaded, destroying a village near the Cinnabar-Obsidian border along with a large amount of land and crops. This day is known as “El día de oscuridad” (the day of darkness) in Cinnabar. King Maximino was also killed on that day. It’s unclear as to who murdered him, but there’s a rumor that the First Princess of Cinnabar is the one who did it. Ever since Cinnabar closed its doors to outsiders, nobody knows the inner workings of the once hospitable nation. The royal family no longer makes any public appearances outside of their country — should there be a meeting with another nation only a handful of representatives show up in lieu of a member of the royal family. This irritates the others but they can’t bring themselves to be angry since Cinnabar always delivers the results they promise. Outside of Cinnabar there’s rumors stating that Cinnabar is unstable, but anytime people trying to sneak into Cinnabar, they are met with the well trained troops stationed at the borders. But one recent rumor has everyone shaking with anticipation— Cinnabar is re-opening its borders soon.
