great question ty @agentlizardofowca! of course they can, and should, in some really dark fanfic that i'd like to read someday (im just screencapping cuz i have hangups about tacking stuff onto people's posts)

(as u may be well aware) realistically plats have a bony structure under the fleshy/cartilaginous exterior and only the front tip is squishable -- analagous to a human nose that way. thankfully i haven't read any reference to a plat with a broken bill but, like with any body part, it could happen. and yeah it would suck. they're pretty sturdy (like..extensions of their skull) and well-vascularized structures, though they often get fishhooks caught in their bill shields which frequently tear and scar. but with treatment they'd heal up well, i imagine perry wearing a bill splint or something, stuck eating through straws for a while. if he actually lost part of his bill entirely that would mean losing part of his electrosensory organ -- which wouldn't affect perry too badly, since he's terrestrial and they only really function usefully in water (or maybe mud). but there's no replacing that fleshy squishiness... (unless you have a magic scientist bf who can do whatever)

Juvia Headcanons because I love her:

-Juvia is one of the more terrifying members of the guild. Pissing her off is a death sentence.

-She often gets lost in thoughts and runs into people. Which would be fine if her magic didn’t react on instinct and cause her to turn to water to pass through them, leaving them soaking wet.

-Juvia could easily get S-Class if she wanted. But she refuses to use her full power on her friends.

-She has a really hard time understanding social cues due to being alone most of her life. Gajeel has gotten into the habit of telling her if the tone changes and stuff so she doesn’t feel lost. Eventually the rest of the guild picks up on it too and help her out.

-Much to everyone’s surprise, Juvia has no problem calling Gray out when he’s being an idiot.

-Juvia and Evergreen are besties. They love getting together and gossiping

-Speaking of besties, Juvia and Natsu have formed one of the most chaotic duos in the guild. The two of them so much as sitting next to each other sparks fear in their friends. Especially Gray.

-Juvia and Gajeel have matching piercings. Guess where.

-She doesn’t have a team because she tends to hold back with others around.

-Juvia will make you a friendship bracelet and you will wear it. She has so many that her arm is filled to the elbow. She will never take them off.

-her favorite genre of music is metal
