A little exercise in the different paws and hands we see in the Sing universe :: [[ Feel free to use as ref ]]

I was drawing Ash and realized that I wasn't too sure how I actually wanted her paws to look? Because so far, I've just been using the "default hands" that the movies use- or just Buster's paws except with shorter claws and the normal amount of thumbs. But I'm wanting everyone to look a little more distinct than what we see in the movies, so I fucked around with some references and made anthro versions of how various paws look in real life.

NOTES :

Porcupine paws are probably my favorite to draw, with narrower fingers, claws, and messy fur, and perfect paw pads/beans.

I LOVE KOALA HANDS SO MUCH, I'm actually kinda pissed Buster doesn't canonically have two thumbs on each hand because it's genuinely SUCH a cool feature omg. I headcanon him being able to be super dexterous because of it [despite his clumsiness]

Pigs are by far the easiest for me to draw. They actually have beans too kinda? Like they definitely have some pad irl. So I draw it kinda emphasized so they can actually realistically grab stuff in-universe.

Sheep/Ungulates hooves are similar, except they're actually the HARDEST for me to draw. I genuinely hate how hooves are done in the Sing movies, like why are they fleshy. So I didn't really have any reference and had to basically bullshit the entire thing lol. Yeah the "hoof-fingers" bend at that part that looks like a joint. Yes it's gonna be weird technically.

Wolf paws are easy. Truly default. And cat paws are actually kinda similar, so I didn't draw them [laziness too lol]

Bear paws are just BIG Wolf paws. Love how wide they are. Can't wait to draw Harry, I love Bears so muchhh ughhghohjsud

Mice paws are weirdest, but I have fun with them. Really close to human hands. Love how they're pink on the bottoms <3 Mike's gonna be so cutie patootie

Gorilla hands were the second easiest to draw. Mostly because I'm pretty ok at drawing human hands, so it only really needed a little translation [don't ask me about drawing the rest of the Gorilla though, I'm still struggling to draw Johnny to this fucking day-]

Nvm, Elephant "paws" are the weirdest actually. That's just a circle- how do they grab literally anything in-universe? [I tried defining fingers, but it still looks a little odd. Might be weird looking in some drawings lol]

(These are life sized pinky and brain cut outs I made for Halloween in 2021 which I still think is pretty cool despite the older art, they are 4 inches and 6 inches...life sized 😭💖.)

Being annoying about each option under the cut

1- Ryunosuke has no other pictures of his bestie's face except for the one of his 'corpse' and that is Fucked Up, which is why I love it. this hc is based on the fact that during my playthrough I looked at the picture so many times bc I missed him immediately. Anyway 1-2 was the worst day of his life and the moment where he was given the photo for the first time really stuck with me.

2- They get to switch off being each other's judicial assistants and they both get to be different flavors of transmasc, I think it would be fun for them. Would they have to attend classes at Yumei to even be considered lawyers? who knows the point is they do it together and are like those cats that bond together and get sad when they get separated.

3- If they are in the same room together that sword is being switched back and forth several times, 'I think it matches your outfit today' or 'I'm on my period I shouldn't be in possession of a deadly weapon' or 'you said in the custody agreement that I get it on weekends' etc etc etc... Though it tends to go with Ryunosuke when they are separated for long periods of time. That sword is symbolic of so much gay shit in these games what's a little more.

4- my guy talks about 'the look' in Ryunosukes eyes so much during the last case, what are you looking into his eyes for? Heterosexual reasons? sure... (also 'fancy meeting you here' that is a pick-up line, you're in a prison, not a bar) Anyway his feelings towards Ryunosuke are complicated and he's so mad that at least one of the feelings in the emotional cocktail is something like attraction)

5- There's that disaster lesbian thing going on but also the situation was pretty stressful but one day she will wake up and it will hit her that her friend was still very interested in her even after she knew it was her in the disguise.

6- Sholmes keeps trying to refer to himself as 'the root of all evil' and how he's 'drawn to the darkness', he's trying so hard to be edgy but he's a six-foot-tall lanky blond man who is dramatic in the silly way and drapes himself over Ryunosuke at every opportunity. Either he's trying to build some kind of reputation or he wants to appeal to the local goth milf populace (Sithe and Tusspells) or even the reaper himself (there's some messy ex energy going on over there...)

7- I need Phoenix to inherit Karuma, he knows a bit about it but he doesn't make a big deal about it. He does have a few prosecutor friends who know the blade and are so annoyed that he's not super proud to own it. Also it's funny to me if the only family that Phoenix knows are a couple of victorian lawyers that haunt him. I think they should watch over him and be a little horrified. Ryunosuke was excited when he was intending to be a performing arts student as a fellow drama kid but it doesn't surprise him that he chose to become a lawyer. It's in his blood.

8- You cannot tell me Ryunosuke didn't want to fling himself off of that boat every night he was stuck in the room he thought Kazuma was killed in. He just didn't want to ruin Susatos trip to England by leaving her alone and he goes into a depression when she leaves for Japan, going so far as to avoid looking at the photo the 221b fam took before she left because it made him sad, which gets put up every time by Sholmes who Gets It. Meaning that he went up to the Naruhodo consulting agency regularly to check up on him. I like to think Sholmes was genuinely worried during the months he spent banned from the courtroom and without his weirdgirl who he bonded with through his best friends 'death'.

9- Wagahai is a good kitty, she can tell who the most depressed person in the building is and follows them around, sometimes Ryunosuke has a nightmare and wakes up with a cat right up by his face.

10- Ryunosuke starts the Naruhodo family tradition of not talking about their personal lives to people they care about and making their own little patchwork family for themselves. Practically all we know about his past is that he's afraid of doctors and studied English from a young age. And then like three months after going to a new country and meeting new people he's just like 'neat this is my family now :)' there is something going on there I swear. I have many conflicting ideas about what it could be specifically though.

The Void’s footsteps were silent as she made her way through the frigid marble dungeons. At this hour, only she and the mice were awake.

     Their nimble feet scurried along the chilled floor, little teeth nibbling at her boot-clad toes; their bites were like prickly kisses, but she welcomed them, embraced their affection as the dull ache of their teeth sank in with each step she took. She let herself succumb to the familiarity of pain, let herself relish in it the deeper and deeper into the cold she went.

    Her pace was unhurried as she passed the plethora of once-occupied cells reeking of blood and bitter waste. Phantom screams echoed in her ears as she continued down, down, down, but she paid them no mind.

     Each one of the victims, the ones that she had handpicked and captured one by one, was gone now, all of them dead by her hand; and they deserved it, deserved every second, every ounce of the pain she’d subjected them to.

     There was only one more to inflict her wrath upon.

     The scattered torches lining the walkway flickered as she reached his cell at last.

When he didn’t answer, she nudged his body slightly with her boot, ignoring his pained grunt as she took in the state of his injuries. “If I’m being quite honest, I thought you’d be done for at this point. Our last session was quite… efficient.”

     “Fuck you,” Atticus rasped, and he didn’t waste a single second before spitting at her feet.

     The Void clicked her tongue in distaste. “That’s disgusting, and not very nice. What happened to that Autumn Court charm I’ve heard so much about?” 

     “Oh, just you wait,” he snarled. “Once my High Lord hears about this, he’ll show you real charm. Right after he severs the head from your body.”

     She crouched before him, meeting his eyes through the obscuring mask she wore. “You know,” she whispered, voice low and sinister between the two of them, “your friends said the exact same thing before I killed them all. They all thought Beron was coming to save them, to avenge them. Well… they’re nothing but bones now. And. He’s. Still. Not. Here.”

     Atticus thrashed against his shackles and flared his nostrils, eyes glinting with unbridled rage in the light. “You’re lying.”

     The Void chuckled humorlessly. “I have no need to lie.”

     She reached up, grasping the edges of her mask and setting it on the cold, dank ground beneath her. She then stretched out two hands, her touch gentle on each side of Atticus’s temples.

     Bringing her face down, her dark and empty eyes met his. Her grip had tightened around his head, and his brow furrowed at the stabbing pressure. Long and sharp fingernails dug into the tender flesh until he hissed sharply and tried to yank his head away.

     The Void held firm. 

     She did not break eye contact, nor did she flinch away as his eyes raked over her features in alarm, as his eyes flickered to the mask laying a few feet away and back to her face, a certain familiarity shifting in his gaze at last.

     “You’re…” he whispered, voice trembling slightly, “you’re his daughter, aren’t you? Symeon Bloodsmith’s daughter. You have his eyes.”

     The Void bared her teeth in a menacing smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners in wicked delight, and nodded slowly. Kept nodding as she murmured, “Yes, I was. But you killed him, and now you must die.”

     And before Atticus could respond, before he could start begging for the Mother’s mercy, The Void tightened her grip on his head and splattered it against the cell wall.

     She sat there for a moment afterward, watching as his blood and brains trickled like a stream down the gray stone. Watching as a puddle of dark red pooled around his battered and twitching body.

     She pulled out a soft cloth from her pocket and dabbed at her bloodstained face with mute resignation, grabbing her mask when she deemed herself clean enough.

     Turning on her heel, she made her way back to the entrance. Up, up, up, she went, leaving the rest of his body for the mice to eat.

One of my favorite things when making an OC is thinking 'what do they eat?'. I don't know why, I just find it really entertaining! For example, Colin (my SM OC) is a vegan (which is funny to me, since he's around cannibals all the time), Winger eats mostly meat (small mice and whatnot, since he's a bird of prey), and Ruben...well, he's particular for an interesting reason!

You see, Ruben has ageusia...what's that? well, it means that he can't taste things. No sweet, sour, salty, bitter or whatever else. (which means his sense of smell is also fucked up)

He was born that way--no one else in his family has that, he didn't get an infection or anything, he was just born that way. Because of this, his preference in food comes from the texture of the meal, rather than the taste since he...yknow...can't taste things.

The thing is that in his whole life, Ruben NEVER found out that people Actually Taste Things. He thought when people said 'this food tastes good' they meant the texture, and that it was just some odd language thing where when you're talking about food you don't say texture, you say taste! (he's a little stupid, bear with him)

BECAUSE he relies on the feeling rather than taste or smell, he really likes trying new foods! No 'taste' in the way in case of putrid food, just pure texture. After he saw his mom get killed and ended up alone, even in the short while he was in solitude, it took a toll on him. Ruben is a social creature, so...being alone is the worst kind of torture for him.

At first, hunting was a bit disgusting, and he wasn't particularly good at it at first, so it was even worse. It made him feel guilty. Poor beast, innocent of any blame, getting killed and cooked (poorly) for a sinners' survival. But he slowly started finding it more and more interesting, biting and scratching as if he was a monster himself when the prey dared to fight back. Putting his hands in their guts, feeling the dying warmth of the carcass...not in a sexual way, please don't be weird.

Of course, this moved on to humans too. The feel of the knife at a mans throat, the sound of the blood starting to bubble at their throat, the panic in their eyes... Ruben REALLY enjoys killing with knives. It feels more personal.

His honor is pretty neutral, I suppose. He's not a good person, not a horrible one (although you might think so because of what I just said LOL), BUT, in the main AU his honor is mid-high....why? because of Javier. They talked about morals, helping people, friends and family, revolution! and it really helped Ruben become a better person. He's a follower, tell him something, and he'll stick with it. With Javier, Ruben turns his sadness into creativity; embroidery, sewing, baking, hunting. He's loyal, kind, still a bit sadistic, but he follows Charles and Javier, and they say that's wrong, so he keeps himself in line.

But...in alternate AU's where he doesn't start dating Javier... Ruben sticks with the Callander brothers. And in those AU's he turns out MUCH WORSE. With the callanders that sadness becomes rage. rage at everyone, at the government for taking what he loved, at the people around him for not understanding him, at himself for becoming this THING... He becomes a true sadist (not that he wasn't before, it's just that he lets himself indulge in it). His appearance is different too, much more scarred and a lot angrier.

He kills for fun, hunts people down for sport, just to see how long they can run. He becomes an issue for the van der Linde gang, and after the Callanders die, he just...leaves...

It's not that they don't talk about all that stuff, it's just that for Mac and Davey (who have been alone most of their life, always fighting for survival) life is just dog vs dog. It doesn't matter who you're killing, it's not personal, it's just to survive...and Ruben only hears the 'it doesn't matter who you're killing' part LOL

I just got a year long Dropout subscription before the price went up and I'm looking for suggestions of what to watch. I'm caught up on Game Changer, because I love that show so much. I'm definitely going to watch Um, Actually. I've watched Tiny Heist for the McElroys. Any suggestions of what to watch? My instinct for Dimension 20 is to start in chronological order of release, but I'm not sure if that's the best move and I don't know anything about any of the other shows. Thanks for any help!

With regards to Dimension 20 in general: Tiny Heist is really great and it was one of the first seasons I watched too. I obviously recommend Fantasy High too because it has the most content (canon and fandom) and there are currently three seasons (Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years) along with some one-offs and spin-offs (The Seven and Pirates of the Leviathan are both spin-off seasons). Honestly, I enjoy all the seasons with the Intrepid Heroes (the original D20 cast; Siobhan, Lou, Emily, Murph, Ally, and Zac with Brennan as GM) though I haven't watched s2 of The Unsleeping City or finished A Crown of Candy.

For the non-FH Intrepid Heroes seasons: The Unsleeping City is really great if you love urban fantasy the like; it's very popular but I personally think it's too American lmao. A Crown of Candy seems very sweet (heh) and fun but it is EXTREMELY intense; it's essentially Game of Thrones if everyone was food and it's much more emotional and violent and tragic than the beginning and the aesthetics would lead you to believe. A Starstruck Odyssey is so so so much fun; it's a scifi space story that is absurd and violent and silly and great even if you're not into scifi. Neverafter is a horror season and it's violent and intense with a lot of body horror and gore and themes of child abuse; it's actually one of my favorites but I HATED the epilogue.

For the other D20 seasons: Misfits and Magic is a Harry Potter-inspired story that is so so so much more than that and it does an amazing job at deconstructing a lot of tropes that Harry Potter used and popularized; the chemistry between the players and Aabria's GM work make both seasons phenomenal. Aabria also GMs in A Court of Fey and Flowers (fairies and magic and drama and romance! very little action but great if you're into either fairies or court intrigue) and Burrow's End (the characters are cute little stoats but do NOT be fooled, it's an intense and violent and tragic story that will make you bawl with the players).

If you're looking for something more fun and light-hearted, I highly recommend Never Stop Blowing Up (absolute absurdity and ridiculousness and it will make you CACKLE) and Coffin Run (vampire story inspired by old Hollywood Dracula films with frankly amazing prop work and a small cast with great chemistry). If you're looking for something more intense, I recommend Mentopolis (a mix of Inside Out and a classic detective noir film, with a blend of absurdity and seriousness; NOT appropriate to watch with kids in the room lmao) and Mice & Murder (anthro Victorian murder mystery with a lot of players who don't feature on D2O much if at all and bring interesting styles and perspectives to the game; it also takes advantage of social distancing and playing over zoom to really play with secrets and deception between the characters AND players).

You don't have to watch anything in order (except the ones that are sequels or spin-offs lmao), just go for whatever looks the most interesting to you! Though avoid the Time Quangle episodes until you watch the Intrepid Hero seasons.

Aside from D20: Make Some Noise!!! It's fucking fantastic, please please please watch it. Very Important People is also fantastic; the latest episode with Brennan and Izzy as the guests has got the entire fandom in a tizzy (in a good way). Smartypants and Thousandaires can be hit or misses tbh; they're usually very fun and enjoyable but there are a quite a few parts that just make me roll my eyes or get aggravated at the cast treating certain things too flippantly. Um, Actually and Dirty Laundry both make excellent background noise shows, though Dirty Laundry is NEVER appropriate to have on when there are kids around lmao. Breaking News is also great if you just want something short and sweet, though it's best after the first couple seasons when the cast gets to improvise more. Gastronauts and Parlor Room are very very new shows but I think they're definitely worth watching. A Message From the CEO is an older and extremely short series but it's also one of my absolute favorites to rewatch; Brennan shrieking about Oreos never gets old.

Aside from all that rambling, I basically just recommend scrolling through the shows and watching what looks interesting to you!

I just finished a Court of Fey and Flowers by @dimension20official, it was absolutely amazing, hands down the best AP I have ever seen, or imagine I might see.

As someone that is strongly anti-D&D 5E and Anti Wizards of the Coast, it took me a long time to give dimension 20 a chance, and I will strongly suggest that anyone in that same position give it a shot.

I am gonna talk about it below the cut here, cause this will likely be long, this will be things I both liked and didn't like.

So i'm gonna talk abit about my feelings and experience with games and APs, because we're all different, we all like different things in a TV Show and by extension those variable preferences would also expand to APs. So I want to give you a little bit of information about where I stand as I explain my thoughts. Sorry if this gets very SEO Recipe lmao.

If you don't care about all that, skip to the next bold line, however if you are gonna comment or argue or whatever, at least read the context first and then probably don't do that.

I've been gaming for 30+ years, I started very early, and i've played definately dozens, probably hundreds of different games. D&D doesnt even rank in that list, I didn't like it much as a kid, when i grew up and it was 3/3,5 I hated both it and pathfinder with a passion. I played 5E for a bit but its lackluster and very poor design led to a game of boring mechanical options and choices that quickly grew old. And if I was gonna play a narrative game, i wouldn't be playing D&D in the first place. 4E is the only edition of D&D I've actively enjoyed.

I was an immense Critter during Campaign 1 and partway through Campaign 2. Like... "my wife and I have Critical Role quotes engraved on our wedding bands" critters.

But I quickly fell away from both Critters and Critical Role, by and large Critters is the worst fandom ive been apart of (and I was a SuperWhoLock back in the day) and the CR cast talks a lot of nice ideals and backs them up with absolutely nothing but lip service. I am now, tbh, somewhat uncomfortable when I see any of them on my timeline.

Dimension 20 is the first AP my wife and I have tried to watch since CR (we find most APs to be unwatchtable in most situations, just our own preference), My wife was curious about seeing Brendan as a DM after watching him on Game Changer, so we watched Mice and Murder (it was fun, and good, but has NOTHING on aCoFaF), and then on a suggestion moved to watch aCoFaF).

Last piece of the puzzle, WotC is a fucking nightmare company that has harbored some of the worst pieces of trash imaginable (though tbf that is not unique to them, its a major "large/old ttrpg company issue". And I quite frankly would love to never have to hear or see about anything wotc ever does ever again, preferably because they burned down and everything they ever made goes with them (this sadly means I would lose 4E but sacrifices must be made).

Things I like about a Court of Fey and Flowers

The first thing I love about it, is its a very role play heavy AP, and it centers on matters of Political fey intrigue, and that is done so masterfully by every single player and by the GM. (I absolutely avoided D20 because of the DnD/WOTC connection, but I in retrospect absolutely understand the whole "Season of Aabria" that was going around now).

The characters were thrilling, dramatic, sneaky, nuanced and hilarious, and the storyline was gorgeous and beautifully made, allowing the players to make their own messes and their own relationships and romances. So much romances.

I absolutely loved that I didn't have to see dnd 5e be played most of the time. This is something, and one of the only somethings, you'll see me talk about in the "don't like" section, so it is strangely enough both. The system was changed and mostly ignored that I almost never had to see dnd played, the AP is so heavily social and rp and during the state of the AP only had two very very short combats that were more priority on the social implications of the combats than the combat itself. Overall it could have used any system and done what they did, but mostly I didn't have to see 5E played and that made it pretty solid, despite "being 5E".

I also love Brennan Lee Mulligan's Captain KP Hob, a very good bab and the first and only Bugbear PC ive seen in an AP (and I love me some Bugbear)

Thing's I didn't like about a Court of Fey and Flowers

This is gonna stay light, because really there wasn't much. The only thing really is that the system, while ostensibly "5E" the system was so lightly applied, used or stuck to that the game could have used almost literally any other system to better affect and I absolutely hate that they still gave 5E and WOTC some sort of props/bandwidth by barely using the system but still selling it as DnD.

10. Rollerdrome - really fun roller blading arena shooter that gave some fun Tony Hawk with guns kind of vibes.

9. Portal: The Lab - everyone says vr is a game changing experience but for me the only thing that has really felt noticably more immersive is being berated by life sized GLaDOS.

8. The Tartarus Key - mysterious first person puzzle game, love the puzzles, the characters and the way the game draws you in to the deeper mysteries at play.

7. Can of Wormholes - does one of my favourite things about puzzle games where you solve puzzles on one scale only to realize that the same puzzles exist but on a much larger scale.

6. Bombrush Cyberfunk - As good as Jet Set Radio Future and in some aesthetic ways even better.

5. Mice Tea - in some ways i'm not furry enough for this game but in other ways i am subby enough to enjoy elements.

4. Cavern of Dreams - the perfect n64 collectathon platformer.

3. Alan Wake II - While I think that Control is a more fun video game to play Alan Wake II is doing some incredible things with its narrative.

2. Slay The Princess - torn between trying to evoke some of the actual feelings i have about this game and the narrative it gradually tells and just saying 'good god The Tower can do whatever she wants to me any time.'

1. Solar Ash - maybe the most moment to moment fun game I played this year, and fucking beautiful.

10. Balatro - Extremely fun but also sort of a curse I've inflicted not just on myself but Malky as well.

9. Mouthwashing - The discomfort of playing this game is unparalleled.

8. Flock - One of the most pleasant experiences I had this year. Flying around this beautiful world adding cute little sky creatures to your flock is just a thoroughly nice time.

7. The Plucky Squire - This was the game I was maybe the most excited for based on its premise alone - go from 2d zeldaesque exploration to 3d platforming as you step in and out of the storybook the main character is from. It's a great concept the problem is (was) the pacing, constantly stopping and starting to hear some narration that gives away the answer to the puzzle you're about to solve or whatever.

Fortunately they recently added Streamlined Mode which perfectly solved the problem without hurting the comprehension of the story or diminishing the tone, and really allows the fun of the game and the strength of the mechanics to shine.

6. Still Wakes The Deep - An absolute masterclass in modern horror.

5. Another Crab's Treasure - I hate it in video games when I beat the boss and oops nope you didn't they had a second health bar. Another Crab's Treasure has a boss encounter where this happens and I cheered out loud. I think that counts for something.

4. Rise of the Golden Idol - Everything that made the previous game (Case of the Golden Idol) so good but with stronger connective tissue between the individual cases. The overall plot becomes a secondary puzzle you need to solve in between every few cases, drawing connections between the often disparate and out of order scenes you've seen to demonstrate a greater understanding of what is going on. It's great. It doesn't feel quite as innovative as the first game only because it's really refining what it does and making something wonderful.

3. Crow Country - An absolute masterclass in classic horror.

2. Astrobot - Ignore what I said about Solar Ash this was the most moment to moment fun game I played this year. Every level is fun. Every power is fun to use. Whatever you might think about the decision to make classic playstation brands into collectibles, collecting the little guys and seeing what games were chosen to feature in this game was a delight. And thats to say nothing of the fun little free updates that have been since added to this game (finally adding Croc and Gex in the most recent).

1. Ultros - is a delightful little puzzlebox of a metroidvania. Its a game with deep and interlocked systems, the extent of which does not make itself clear for quite some time, but gradually it gives you a perfect set of tools to manipulate these systems and do exactly whatever you please. It isn't what I was expecting what I went into the game and it might not be for everybody but the things it does it does spectacularly well.

Can someone please explain to me why everyone seems to hate this movie (apart from the fact that it's an Amazon original)? Because I've watched it twice now, and I think it's tons of fun. I'm not really a Camilla Cabello fan, but I'll watch this movie a hundred times over the live action Disney one from 2015 that everyone else seems to like for some reason.

It's got humor and camp that feels like it came out of the early 2000s (in a fun way).

Cinderella knows it's ridiculous that she talks to the mice. This movie knows what it is, and I bet everyone had fun making it.

"They made Cinderella into a girl boss!" Shut the fuck up. I'm putting the phrase "girl boss" on the high shelf. Giving Cinderella hobbies and a dream/goal for her future doesn't make her a "girl boss." It makes her more of a real person with an actual personality. She's not just "nice" or "kind" or "sweet." She wants to sell clothes and not be abused by her family. That's all.

Speaking of personalities, I love that the characters actually have personalities that subvert the original story. Even the step sisters! I love that the step mother wants Cinderella to marry the prince when she finds out it was her at the ball, because duh! Why wouldn't she want to have her whole family live in luxury? And I love that the step mother has a backstory that makes us understand more about why she is the way she is without necessarily forgiving her. There's a lot more humanity to her under the bitchiness.

I'm just gonna say it, I like this actor more as Robert than as Henry in the Red White And Royal Blue movie.

I like that Cinderella and Robert actually have fun and meaningful conversations instead of just "they dance at a ball and then get married." This has them act more like a regular couple, and I like that the end goal for them isn't getting married but getting to know each other better.

I like that Robert helps her leave the ball when he sees something is wrong and she's upset.

The songs are fun enough for the most part. We get Idina Menzel singing "Material Girl" and I love the "What A Man/7 Nation Army" mashup at the ball. And I actually listen to the cast version of "Am I wrong" all the time, unironically.

Love Minnie Driver in anything. She's so fucking funny in this movie (I crack up every time I see her measuring the thrones, I will not apologize).

Love Gwen. End of story.

Love the costume design for the other girls at the ball and the variety of styles for their hair and dresses.

Is this movie perfect? God no. Does it have parts I think are silly or dumb (*cough* the mice *cough*)? Yeah, but it's one of the more fun Cinderella adaptations I've seen. Again, it's got that early 2000s feel, so I guess if that's not your jam, I understand. But this has so much more energy and personality and humor than the hundreds of Disney live action remakes coming down the pipeline. So seriously, why do people shit on this movie so much?

AFAIK none have been greenlit. maybe one day max will get his shot at the spotlight again. if that happens, i think we're gonna see a MUCH different incarnation of max.

he was originally a very stereotypical rambunctious 90s kid/edgy angsty teen (as edgy as disney toons ever got anyway). unless they set the reboot/remake in modern times, it might feel a bit dated and played out. i don't think the 90s nostalgia market is strong enough to convince disney to bring back max atp

until then i am doubtful we'll see goof troop rebooted or another film featuring max.

as for max/bradley, i honestly don't care about it too much. i wouldn't go so far as to say i hate the ship. it just doesn't interest me by default? popular fanon doesn't align well with my tastes. i like enemies/rivals to lovers, but i struggle with taking him seriously as a romantic counterpart in fic/fanart lol. the only versions of the ship i am drawn to are where bradley and max are at each others throats, or through the lens of comedy.

i suppose in meme terms i only like maxley if it's toxic yaoi lol

Team Paradisia slayed though

I do like the conflict between the two, they may be twins but Nina-8 has a much softer personality than Nikki-4. And with her not being on the team until D'jok left, I wonder if she was already trying to distance herself from them a bit and try to live her own life. Which is pretty symbolic for an identical twin.

Well Mark's love drama has more potential than the love triangles they were doing until now, if only they'd given it more screentime and development

They always score at least one goal in their games, and he's pretty much always the one who does it. For other teams, the goal scoring is a bit more shared between different players. Plus it's still early in the cup.

D'jok seems to be perfectly back to normal and on friendly terms with the others as if nothing happened. Compare to season 2 where Rocket's Netherball stint had consequences and his return was not so smooth!

And Nork is like "you said it! Team Paradisia...." in this dreamy way again and Callie has to cough and change the subject? Hey what the fuck was that???? This season tried to be more blatant with the girl power messaging but then puts in moments like this?????

Oh I really love this interaction between D'jok and Luur before kickoff – no intimidation dance from the Xenons, just a meaningful handshake between a guy who almost plummeted to his death last season, and the player that saved him. Idk if the writers were intentional with this but if so, it's a really nice example of subtle writing and events of the previous season carrying over.

But it's also kind of hilarious that Brim Simbra's very last action as flux society leader... was to delegate the galaxy saving to Sonny Blackbones yet again LOL
