i was thinking of post rdr2 Ruben and Javier

The grief Ruben felt, dragging him down, a feeling so dark like oil that stuck to everything. His feelings, his things. He saw Javier everywhere--in his clothes, in his mannerism, in the mirror...not that he was actually there, but more like a faint memory of having once spent time together looking at one another in the reflection. Such tender love, kisses and caresses. But now they didn't matter anymore. Him looking at the few clothes of Javier's he took, the ring they shared. The pain is so great it's nearly tangible in the now old rags. They're not what they were before, even if they look the same. They hold a baggage within them, you could touch it, move it--but should he? Should he wear them? would it matter? the man isn't dead, just very far away, but the grief is the same as if he would've. He died to him, in a way, left to never come back. Left him marked. A hole forever in his chest. In every nook and cranny and every last breath, no matter if he threw away the clothes or the ring or everything that he took--he'd still see him in the flowers, hear his songs when it's dark and cold, feel his warmth at the fire. Grief made things hard to function, hard to breath--like drowning, his head felt heavy and it hurt and he couldn't breath and... He misses Javier. They left things unresolved.
