It's Luffy's birthday! In celebration, here are my cursed Luffy screenshots from the ASL episodes!

I feel I should put this here, that Lilith and Sanguinius had a great relationship and he was an excellent father before the Emperor came. It was just after the Emperor showed up that things started to go downhill from there, especially once Sanguinius reunited with his legion.

I don't think Sanguinius at first even realized just how different Lilith's blood thirst was to that of the blood angels/revenant and had treated it the same way he did theirs. As a result Lilith ended up getting a lot of Sang's insecurities by accident, as well as a few of her own because suddenly in this new place, her mutations aren't as accepted as they were with the blood. It's also a part of why she took so long to reach her full height/ had such a long adolescence. She wasn't feeding as she needed which caused her to become rather weak, and sickly.

Probably during this time, Sanguinius wasn't very able to notice that was something was horrifically wrong because like Sanguinius, Lilith is very good at hiding things if she doesn't want it known, along with the fact she started wearing veils around the same time she stopped drinking blood, or rather stopped drinking it as often as she should have been. Really she was only drinking enough to keep herself from falling into a coma. Probably wasn't that good of a fighter and likely some Luna Wolves noticed that she was weaker, but didn't know how to approach it.

Meanwhile the Emperor was using her to see if it was possible to get her to not be able to drink blood, or if it could be used to control her. Which is how she ended up in a coma for nearly six months and also when it was realized she was growing far more feathers then usual. I imagine it wasn't until Jaghatai came along that things really changed because Jag just saw a young teen suffering and nothing more. Like I imagine he asked her to remove her veil and when she did, he saw just how sickly she looked. He may not have understood much gothic at the time, but he definitely almost immediately tried to bring her back with him.

He's also the one to make Sanguinius fully realize that something was really fucking off. Sanguinius kind of knew, but the Emperor had pretty much been placating him by saying that He was taking care of her. Suffice to say he was not and Sanguinius was both not happy at all, and blaming himself because he should have known something was wrong.

Jaghatai is pretty much responsible for the woman Lilith became. He basically became her new mom, because even though he was just learning how the Imperium worked and getting used to his new status, he was not going to just stand by and allow Lilith to continue on. Or Sanguinius for that matter. She really started blossoming underneath both him and Sanguinius. Probably earns himself the nickname of Ibu, which is mom.

There's particular reason why I choose Jag for it, it could have easily been Vulkan considering Vulkan was found before Sanguinius. However, Jaghatai feels like he has the most common sense of his brothers and he's also from a nomadic tribe like Lilith. Also the most likely to not take Emps at his word, aside from maybe Corvus. (I realize Sang is probably also in this category but the man believed Emps when he said that He didn't kill Amara even tho he 100% did, so Jaghatai gets to be the one with the braincell, because Corvus is one of the last to be found)

i feel like not enough ppl are factoring in the cultural clash between laios and shuro and the many micro agressions shuro faced while being in their group. literally the name 'shuro' in itself is one

his name is toshiro 😭 lets also not forget that he has his own communication issues, in the opposite way that laios does- thats literally a factor in their argument, that his envy for laios's ability to express himself sincerely manifested as part of his distaste for him.

ig all this to say like, was their fight heart wrenching, especially when reading laios as autistic? absolutely. anybody whos ever been in laios's position knows how much it hurts to realize someone you thought was your friend doesnt actually like having you around, especially when they didnt tell you and you had no way of knowing due to not understanding their cues. but im begging yall to step back and see the nuance of this situation cause im gonna be real a lot of you are kinda just brushing over it acting like everything is toshiros fault and that hes a terrible person when in reality hes an average guy who really, really clashed with laios and it led to a very long misunderstanding due to their supremely opposite methods of communication. even laios and toshiro, after letting everything out in their fight, were able to come to an understanding and start a foundation for an actual friendship built on better communication

ok yknow what Edit: i shouldve made it even more explicit at the end of this post, i hadnt thought i would need to since i started the post with this, but i think a few too many people are missing my point so i just wanna clarify. i shouldnt have said 'really clashed' and left it at that because yeah they did, but it wasnt just their opposite methods of communication, it is also very much that toshiro was experiencing microaggressions via laios. it may have been unintentional on laios's part, but it still happened and wore him down, made it harder for him to communicate on top of both the more subtle social cues that he was raised with and his own communication difficulties. i also want to say that the fandom reaction to toshiro and the complete ignorance of this point is also racist tbh or at the very least ignorant. i understand that the anime did not cover this panel, and neither did the manga, as this was an omake, but im gonna be real with you guys. there are enough context clues within the story to clue you into this. if you didnt pick up on it thats ok, but i think this is a good lesson in picking up subtext in the stories that youre watching and/or reading. kui shouldnt have to explicitly say 'by the way laios was racist to toshiro' for this point to be understood, and at the very least, when the author portrays a character in a sympathetic light (as kui clearly does) it should make you question Why they are doing so and what makes them sympathetic, rather than youre immediate and only reaction to be 'well i hated what this guy did/said so i hate them and they suck'. idk exactly how to finish this, just. idk. question your biases and gut reactions to things you see in media and stories, and think about whether or not theres subtext that youre missing.
