As for the robot figure itself I replaced it's head with the 2004 head that I also repainted

#hi im back and experimenting#ive had the gnarliest art block for the past like month and a half sorry! i made this to try to break out of it#for more context this happened on the night we got drunk and watched spiderman 2 (2004) and i looked up the soundtrack afterwards#and fell down a rabbithole bc switchfoot is on it#my dad used to listen to contemporary christian radio (probably still does) so i heard a lot of the more popular Christian hits of the 2000s#also christian stations will play what the fuck ever sometimes if a song can be read in even a little bit of a christian way#idk how christian the fray is (ig they did make 'you found me' but.) but ive heard 'how to save a life' on christian stations#and theres plenty of like. really lowkey christian bands. like switchfoot! and relient k!#most ppl alive in the 00s have probably heard 'dare you to move' just in nature. and christian stations loved that one#newsboys is on that spectrum somewhere i think. they did 'belly of the whale' for the Jonah a veggietales movie#and the dvd bonus features include the music video for that plus the video for 'a million pieces' which doesnt feel overtly christian to me#anyway! i hope everyone likes this vertical format! and the coloring. im still trying to adjust my style for that part#when csp says 'brightness' it does not nean 'color value' which is an issue for my new method#but yknow its a learning curve#furry#queer artist#smth smth#queer comics#trans artist

today i learned that we weebs are responsible for the existence of the .ass file type. #heritage
#花話#i actually learned this yesterday i've just been cracking myself up over the 'hashtag-heritage' thing ever since#.ass is a subtitle file btw!!! they're what make the really pretty ones with the elaborate typesetting and positioning n stuff#i always thought they did that shit by burning the fonts into the video via aftereffects or smth but it turns out#that while you could burn an ass file to a video for hardsubbing you can apparently just. like it's a text file you can use a text editor#and also turn them off when watching your stuff if you wish and god i was so surprised when i realized you could do that#with the pretty subtitles bc when using online streaming the soft subs were usually so ugly#anyway through a series of wacky hijinks i've ended up coding a subtitle file type converter these last few hours#and in looking up the standards for how .srt .ass and .vtt files are formatted i learned this gem#and you know what!!!! it makes soooo much sense#of course we weebs went off and made a file type for elaborate subtitle styling and positioning and timing#the intersection of art and technology in the weeb fan sphere is actually pretty cool!! there's niche ass software for so much shit#bc of the tendency of weebs to be into tech and stuff#in my spelunkinh around the old web i've also found a bunch of old specialized scanlation software from the 2000s!!! that's so cool!!!!#i just use a notes program and photoshop but they were out there in 2004 or so making photo editors that#could not only open up and edit multiple images in sequence you could page through but also load up your translation txt file#and i think also had specialized tools for cleaning text bubbles and stuff#and also obviously correcting scan issues and straightening things out AND THIS IS SO COOL!!!!#like we did that!! that's how things were done before i got into anime!!! back when i was a little kid; before i was even rlly sentient!!!!!

So. One Piece. It’s time to admit that my only prior consumption of it was…the 4kids version. 😅 Which I remember enjoying quite a bit as a kid, and I only really stopped watching bc it went off the air in the US, and when it came back, I was just finishing college and moving across the country. So like. Priorities. 😅
Anyways, so idk if it’s bc of the absolute botch-job of the 4Kids version, or simply that it’s been nearly 20 years, but yooooo I Do Not Remember Zoro being this hilariously aloof. 😂 I don’t really remember him having much a personality at all tbh. But I hope this live action version is at least semi-accurate bc his drunken deadpan is killing me. 😂

I love how my dumb ass had never realized that the tv stand/cabinet in the living room was deep enough to fit three towns of vhs tapes. It gets worse when it’s the exact same one my grandma had the big block of a tv in
#on the bright side tho I found so many other vhs tapes#I was shocked to see she still had the last unicorn cuz I thought she got rid of it#but I was even more shocked with the Zorro cartoon being there#and the fact that we still have the 3 tapes I had as a kid#cuz I spent the last hour trying to see if I could either watch it online or buy it on dvd but nope#apparently the show only had most of the episodes available on vhs#and only 6 episodes were on dvd in 2004#but when I looked it up it apparently had 2 seasons of 13 episodes each and yet I could only find a playlist on yt that had 11 episodes :/#and I found a rocky vhs set with an extra copy of rocky 4#man I am going to time warp this bitch so hard I just gotta plug in the player to the tv#and then I can figure out what tape is in there cuz it’s got one in there

it is always so wild to me reading gg fics that were written WHILE it was airing just because like yeah i was watching it i think from season 5 on but we didn't even have internet at my house i mean a good thing probably because me watching that kind of show at age 10 is fine whatever but reading fic at that age would've been bad but yeah like this one was all published after season 4 aired and i'm like yeah this is an entirely alternate universe but you didn't even KNOW what, if anything was ever gonna happen between rory and jess again after he asked her to run away with him and she slept with dean like. hell lorelai and luke had only just had their first kiss you hadn't even seen them as a couple yet it's wild

Everyday I think about how I wish puberty blockers had been more widely available when I was a child. How I wouldn’t have had breast at 8/9 years old and a period literally the month I turned 10. How much it would have helped my mental health and social development to have just a year or 2 more of being a kid instead of a “young woman.”

born in the 90s forever
#when someone (a student) told me they were born in 2004 last week i had a realisation. like.#we live(d) different lives.#i mean just the fact that they were still in school when the pandemic started!!#and that alone will have a lasting impact#or how at the polling station on sunday there were voters born in fucking 2006#idc about attaching generational labels to people but digitalisation and how we use the internet etc etc makes such a difference#mostly in an increasingly negative way. and has obsviously changed so much.#also thinking of that whole childhood experience#i might have been born in the late 90s but i am so glad to have had a childhood without THAT as well#only occasionally getting access to a computer and owning one for the first time in my teens (the same applies to a smartphone)#i've experienced a lot from the 90s through my brother and half brother who was born in the 80s#(until i was seven we were living in the same house together)#so i got a lot of nostalgia for physical objects and such that no longer exist#most of all for a time that will never be again#<3#oh and my parents are older generations so that would also have some effects#it can feel lonely sometimes to not relate to those supposedly in your age group... all my life i have looked up to older people#this is obviously very individual#just very grateful to have had that kind of life in spite of all the bad bits#personal
