Bonus statistics: the Really Funny Graph Awards

As I've pointed out before, it's often hard to notice voter fraud— even in large quantities— if you can't see, not just how many votes came in, but when and in what patterns. Accusations of fraud don't track fraud, they track controversy; the most fraud often happens in polls that nobody particularly objects to, because nobody was paying attention.

Unless you have a graph in front of you. Fortunately, we do! So here's a brief review of the graphs that made it very, very clear to the mod team group chat that someone was playing silly buggers.

Round 1:

Davekat vs Zolu would almost even look natural, if it weren't for that enormous spike at the day 4 mark. But what a spike! And Akeshu vs Supercorp has those spikes in the middle, but the beginning stages of the graph look maybe fine... if you weren't watching for the first two days, and didn't get to see the progression:

Round 2:

This, on the other hand, couldn't be mistaken for natural by anyone. Look at this nonsense. The stairstep lines! The sharpness of the peaks! The sharpness of the dropoffs, which is how you can tell that this isn't just the poll being reblogged by large accounts, it is one person putting in truly insane amounts of effort! The fraud continuing long after Hualian had a significant lead, apparently just to make sure Buddie couldn't possibly launch a counteroffensive! Isn't it beautiful!

Round 4-5:

And once again, Hualian voters— or, well, some particular Hualian voter— goes nuts. Usually in 1-day polls, the votes come in fast enough that even with a graph it's hard to see if anything's gone wonky. Not so here; that bend in both graphs at around the same time, where I can only assume our frauder stopped for the night and went to bed, is a work of art.

Round 6:

No visible irregularities in the graphs (I assume they were just happy with getting to the semifinals?) but I did see this ask pop up:

I didn't see responses from anyone who took them up on it.

Real talk: This sort of thing is the reason I run poll brackets. This is proof that one person with insane dedication and a lot of time really can be the backbone of a fandom. This is, and I know this is melodramatic but I am being entirely sincere here, a chart of human passion.

I'm highkey disgusted at the hate sent towards people who ship different things in TGCF. Let those people live their lives and love their ships. I have seen cute and beautiful artwork for ships like Huayin, fenglian, mulian, and other ships and I see so much hate. Sure, Hua Cheng waited 800 years for Xie Lian, but these people aren't spreading hate. To send death threats and mean comments to people who ship HUAYIN specifically is disgusting.

If you have hated on these ships or people enjoying these ships please dni w me. You can not like a ship but what happened to fandom culture? Smh y'all would not survive SVSSS shipping.

There is one artist I enjoy specifically who gets so much hate for their Huayin and they really don't deserve it because from what I have seen they seem like a kind person and the hate is unnecessary. I will scroll on tiktok and see people being like "Huayin makes no sense and I can't stand people who ship any of the main ship with other people" and in the comments it's like "this is about that one huayin artist isn't it"

SHUT THE FUCK UP HOLY SHIT. do not hate on people for enjoying a ship that is LEGAL and can make sense. Huayin can be cute and I enjoy the fanart a lot, and I am saying this as one of the biggest Quanyin and hualian lovers.

Rarepairs also hold a special place in my heart. If you can like rarepairs in other fandoms you can ignore ones you don't like in TGCF.

I am not trying to pick a fight and am not trying to say i am a proshipper. Proshipping IS disgusting and I do not support it but will not stand on hate for people shipping LEGAL AND UNRELATED CHARACTERS.

"MXTX doesn't want people to ship-" IT WILL INEVITABLY BE SHIPPED THIS IS FANDOM WE'RE TALKING ABOUT AND THIS IS ALSO PEOPLE WE ARE TALKING ABOUT. Would you stop shipping Quanyin, Fengqing, or anything else if she said she didn't like it? Or in other fandoms authors don't want people to ship VERY POPULAR ships but those are very often ignored. Mxtx cannot control her fanbase and as an author understands that stuff will inevitably be shipped in different ways. Like I said: SVSSS. Nobody gets mad at them for shipping Liu Qingge and Shen Yuan, do they? They move past it, TGCF fandom should learn from them.

This does not get addressed enough in this fandom and it really just makes me sad seeing all the hate :/. Especially on nice people. Sorry for the more serious post than usual but it makes me super upset seeing the disgusting things thrown at artists.

Ranking the Danmei I Read this Year

I got into Danmei this February, and wanted to do a top 5, but then realized I'd only read 5 this year lol, so instead I'm going to rank them from least favorite to most. So without further ado:

5. The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish

I picked this one up just because it sounded so ridiculous and funny, and never expected it to be so sweet! It's pure fluff and love. I've only ranked it low because it's just very low stakes compared to the rest of the series on the list. It's a great read in between much higher stakes series that constantly feel like they're ripping my heart out. I love Li Yu's character and how in love with him Prince Jing is. I'm looking forward tk getting the final volume next year!

4. Heaven Official's Blessing

We all know it and love it for a reason. I was absolutely enamored by hualian's love story. I love the lack of relationship drama because they trust eachother so completely, and I think it has one of the best confession scenes of any media ever. However, I did rank it lower because I didn't find the ending completely fulfilling. I know MXTX is doing an amended version and I'm anxious about her removing some characters but I am curious to see if I find the ending any better.

3. The Scum Villain's Self Saving System

It made me laugh so much, and then volume 3 broke my heart. I really love how related Shen Yuan is. It is MXTX's first series and it does feel like it is her first in a lot of ways, but this series has so much heart. I honestly would love to see more of the world explored, because I think it's so vast and interesting.

2. The Husky and His White Cat Shizun

I LOVE this series. I love our himbo protag living in the regret of his previous life, I love how much of a hopeless romantic CWN is behind his cold exterior and damn, it's good spice. I am spoiler free and have not even read volume 7 yet (it arrives tomorrow!) But it's definitely the longest series I've read, I belive it will have 11 volumes in total. I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out, but until then, I will keep all the related tags blocked haha

1. The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation

Anyone who follows my blog probably wouldn't be surprised by this. The series with too many titles, MDZS, was my first danmei and still sits atop as my favorite. I see a lot of myself in Wei Ying. His story breaks my heart, but his love story with Lan Wanji heals me. I love their dynamic, their relationship to the juniors, and their devotion to each other. I was to keep experiencing this series in new ways; I already am collecting the webcomic, I've started watching the donghua (and I'd like to buy it) and I will eventually watch The Untamed. Theres also the new stage play happening soon (no idea how I'll see that) and me hoping and praying for someone to pick up the manga for publication in the west. I love Wangxian so much!

And that's all I've read thus far. I know it's kinda basic as far as danmei go, but everyone has to start somewhere! I would love recommendations for what to read next. I do prefer the cultivation storyline, but I'm also open to Palace Dramas. I'm not particularly interested in Modern stories.

I'm likely to pick up Thousand Autumns soon, and I've heard Remnants of Filth is in the same universe as Erha, so I may also check it out. Feel free to leave other recommendations (please also note I'm currently only interested in series that have been published as books in the US, and not interested in reading fan-translations)

I apologize in advance, because my post will be long and it will be about my OC and his city, so the request will only be at the end. And here's the idea...

I was thinking of a story where my OC would finally be able to feel helpless again and learn to appreciate more that Hualian is around, and at the same time learn to ask for help. A old and basic idea came to mind, BUT... I like it. My OC, a demon and the god of Quiet death, manages his city as your OC and Hua Cheng do. Only for me his city at first looks like a large dark forest with lights of blue flame and animals whose fur is highlighted.. You know, like in Avatar, if you've watched it, or in Skyrim, there are such animals in one of the missions (google the "skyrim vale deer" and that's it)). And then the main part of the city is hidden under the arches of a cave in a huge mountain, where plants and tree grow thanks to magic. And plants highlighted too. It looks like an elven town in the Lord of the Rings, only in Chinese style. A very quiet place where demons and souls come to seek peace, a life they might not have had before death.

The main palace in black and blue tones, dark wood, elegance, expensive, but not fancy things around... HUGE collections of fans and poisons...

And of course, a temple for Xie Lian... It is not big, but extremely cozy, quiet, almost personal, as if the person who created the temple did not show how much he is ready to give to his god, but rather is ready to give extremely little, but no less valuable... His own heart...

So, near the city, an unknown creature began to rage in the village and my OC went to deal with it. Alone. Because, why not actually. Nobody wants to put loved ones' lives in danger, even if they are much stronger than you. And he defeated this creature... But he was cursed and turned into a child. Like... A newborn baby... (If you are not comfortable with children, then you can make him a kitten, small, white fur, frightened eyes and trembling from any rustle)

And just imagine, Hua Cheng and Xie Lian are worried that their beloved has disappeared, and then snakes come to them (pets of my OC, you can change it to birds if you feel comfortable) and bring them their beloved under a curse...

And I wonder how you see Hualian care and how they will remove the curse from their beloved reader X))

When Hua Cheng and Xie Lian saw you again they did not expect to see you as a toddler. As in a little boy. As in not your normal form. . .

You were all supposed to meet up at Puqi shrine, just to hang out, cuddle. You know normal lover stuff.

It seems you didn't make it peacefully, in fact it doesn't even look like you remember them.

Your snakes had apparently led the way.

They knew it was you because of the snakes of course. Also not just any little boy would be okay with snakes roaming over his arms, and neck

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian take you inside and start doting on you immediately

They've found nothing out. You don't remember them, or what happened

Xie Lian is worried, initially he doesn't know how to fix it. They don't know anything so how can they fix it?

Hua Cheng is worried but more so angry. Who did this? Was it a heavenly official or maybe a ghost? Whoever it was he'll track them down and take care of them for you

The important part is getting you back to normal first though

Xie Lian asks Ling Wen about what curses it may be

Hua Cheng is trying to think if this might be like the time he turned into a kid too but they crossed that out

At the end of the day they come up with. . . Nothing. Yet.

Xie Lian decides for the three of you that maybe rest is what you all need

So that night in bed a toddler lies between the two of them.

You look comfortable in their arms so at least you aren't crying from fear

Hua Cheng was very happy when you were not scared of him.

The next day Xie Lian and Hua Cheng decide something different.

They know you were at your abode so maybe the problem happened there?

Soooo that's where they go, of course with your snake's help, seeing as you don't remember anything

The whole time you're either in Xie Lian's arms or clinging to Hua Cheng's legs.

They're actually having fun with this whole, you being a toddler thing. Not forever though.

All of you get to your city with no problems. . .

Except when they get to the "city" it's a cave.

At first Hua Cheng is debating to tie your snakes together by the tails but Xie Lian calms him down.

Then they both panic because suddenly you're missing.

The little you ran into the cave!

They give chase and then suddenly are wowed when they see your city.

It was hiding in the cave the whole time. Huh, no wonder.

They also find you petting some strange deer with highlighted fur, like literally glowing.

Xie Lian and Hua Cheng have never seen something like this before, they've never had the chance to see your city.

You're always too embarrassed to let them in

They quickly pick you up and Hua Cheng keeps you in his arms this time.

After admiring the city they follow the snakes again.

This time they've been led to a temple.

Who knows what's going through those snake's minds but apparently they're giving your lovers a whole tour

Because the next stop was a temple.

It's not gaudy but not out of shape either. It's elegant, definitely meant for a well loved god or goddess

Xie Lian and Hua Cheng find out who it's for when they see Xie Lian's statue in the temple.

They look around a bit, surprised there aren't many offerings at all. But they notice why when they look at statue Xie Lian's hair.

A hair pin

It's the only thing that isn't a part of the statue, it's not the same material or anything. So what is it then?

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian carefully look at it. After a few minutes Hua Cheng confirms that the hair pin is made of ashes.

Your ashes.

Xie Lian is flustered and puts it back where it was. Hua Cheng is smiling at toddler you

You don't know what's going on just yet but they know what a hairpin means

Once they're done appreciating all the fine details you've made for Xie Lian they're led away once again.

Finally to the spot where you were cursed

Xie Lian guess by the dead creatures carcass you must have been cursed by it.

This won't be a hard curse to get rid of, just destroy the creatures body and get rid of the ashes. Then you should turn back to normal.

So Xie Lian hopes.

Hua Cheng does all of it though he wouldn't dare let Xie Lian touch something so dirty. He places you in the safety of Xie Lian's arms so he can do so

After that's all gotten rid of, toddler you poofs and turns big again

They catch you up to speed pretty quickly, then you get ganged up on by kisses and teasing.

They want to see more of your city before you guys leave

The final chapter of Mind in Madness, Heart in Peace (main story) has been posted! It was a beast of a chapter written during my time injured, and I have had my surgery and am currently recovering.

HI OMG IM SO SORRY FOR THE VERY LATE REPLY, IVE BEEN VERY BUSY BUT SURE! And since I'm a multishipper, I'll just list my top 5 ships out of fandoms I've been in

FengCui: Feng Xiao x Cui Buqu (Wushuang/Peerless) - The reason I love this ship so much and is my top 1 out of all the shows and books ive read and watched is because I'm so in love with their dynamic, development, and interactions with each other. They first start of as rivals then gradually start to fall for each other with each case they work and time they spent togther. I also loved the fact that the author didn't use stereotypical tropes with the main cp. While its enemies to lovers, to me, it's enemies AND lovers because when they do get together, their dynamic didn't change and they still remained the same. And that's one of the reasons why I love this pair so much.

2. Cezhou: Shen Zechuan x Xiao Chiye (Qiang Jin Jiu/Ballad of Sword and Wine) - I honestly debated if this should be my top 1 but I ultimately decided this would be my top 2 mainly bc I prefer fengcui's dynamic more, But of course, that doesn't make this ship any less great and amazing! In my opinion, this is enemies to lovers with sexual tension done right. I used to hate the trope enemies to lovers because of experience and personal things... But this ship changed my perspective on it a lot. Even though they got together early in the novel, they're still the ship that has the most amazing development and growth I've seen in such as a long time.

3. Hualian: Xie Lian x Hua Cheng (Heaven Official's Blessing) - Ah yes... the classic. I had to put them at my top 3 because TGCF and hualian is what mainly got me into danmei and to this day, I still adore them with all my heart and I'll never ever forget how they made such a huge impact on me... They're like romeo and juliet but done right. They're also the couple that made my standards so unrealistic to the point that I think I'll never ever be able to find someone to love as much as how much they love each other... As much as they're unrealistic, they also made an impact on how I view love in general. I also relate to hua cheng when it comes to appearances because dawg... I am also so insecure of that as well... and when Hua Cheng is insecure about it and Xie Lian is just telling him that he's gorgeous and not ugly like he thinks he is just makes me want to cry because that validation and comforting words is what all of us insecure people need. Just having the reassurance that we're perfect just the way we are...

4. Lucathy: Lucas x Athanasia De Alger Obelia/Athy (Who Made Me a Princess) - I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! Athy is so precious to me and I will protect her at all cost! And I love how their relationship just naturally progresses on the time the spent together and isn't just immediate love at first sight. And I also love how lucas went from "I'm going to watch this bc this is entertaining" to "If you ever hurt her, I'll destroy all of obelia" and bro... LUCAS IS SO WHIPPED FOR ATHY ITS SO FUNNY AHAHAH (Also reminds me on how Xiao Chiye is so whipped for Shen Zechuan but that's another time). And not only that, but I love how Lucas got back from his quest, heard about how Athy got humiliated, bro was like: "Should I kill him?" like bro did not care if it was her father, if someone did shit to her, he would deal with them.

5. LoidYor: Loid Forger x Yor Forger (Spy x Family) - BRO I IMMEDIATELY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SHIP!! Assassin x Spy? OH HELL YEA! I've honestly been waiting for this kind of trope for such a long time lol. Not only that, but I low how yor is such a girlboss and protects her family even if it isn't real. I honestly really like their progression so far and I hope that they honestly become a family in the end... I have nothing really much to say about this ship because I haven't been keeping up with SXF but I really love them and they're trope because I haven't seen Assassin x Spy trope in fandoms I've been in.

probably overthinking this subject but is it weird that i kind of don’t like most mxtx extras and tend to disregard them from what i imagine as the canon characters in my head and that i wish more fics did the same?

for example, i would love to see more post-canon scum villain fics that reimagined shen qingqiu’s journey of becoming more comfortable with his sexuality and with binghe all the way to their wedding starting right from the end of the main story. while the scum villain extras do have very nice moments (i do love the bingmei vs bingge conflict, sqq watching lbh’s memories in the dreamscape, the moments in between, etc), the extras just don’t feel fully satisfying and instead just seem like mxtx if providing the fan service that she left out of the main story. as is her right of course!

but i feel this lacking most significantly in the mdzs extras. so many missed opportunities for her to have rounded out the world and side characters, explored another layer of emotional depth with the main couple, whatever else, and we just got….incense burner and some other, much less memorable, stuff. not to mention that, while i’ve come to accept that wangxian in the book is incredibly different from their dynamic in the censored cdrama, the extras just kind of reinforce almost solely the physicality of their relationship and none of their actual day-to-day interactions as a couple or the emotional hurdles they still inevitably must cross together.

tgcf’s extras are the least offensive to me but they are also not super interesting to me. though hualian in general is probably the least interesting to me postcanon anyway since, more than wangxian and bingqiu, they seem quite in tune emotionally by the end of tgcf and so less opportunity for tension in that regard. but also the extras here being included in my perception of them doesn’t really negate the way i prefer their relationship to progress postcanon, unlike the other two couples.

anyway, this might make sense to no one at all and if so, ignore me. and if you love the extras for any or all of these, so happy for you and a little jealous! i guess my main point is that, while obviously they’re extras and just not meant to be integral to the overall story, i think that mxtx’s determination to just write what is effectively shitposting for her characters as extras is kind of frustrating to include in canon when in my mind, these couples are just entering these lifelong relationships, and there are still many things to unpack and learn about each other, and the extras just don’t align with how i think those relationships would go based on the main story, and so i wish more postcanon fan content pretended they didn’t exist lol…does anyone have similar feelings or am i just thinking too deeply about this…?

BINGQIU VS LIUSHEN/ANY OTHER SHIP WITH SQQ PART 1

BEWARE I HAVENT READ SVSSS IN A WHILE AND I MIGHT’VE MISSED SOME STUFF! Feel free to correct and give your opinions about this.

Theres gonna be two parts to this bc tumblr can’t take all my writing sooooo 😛

In the SVSSS fandom, I’ve noticed that compared to other mxtx’s novels, the mc gets shipped with half of the cast more often and is more widely accepted in the fandom compared to the tgcf and mdzs fandoms (if you ship Hualian or Wangxian with anyone, it will get you death threats, istg 😓). However, with Shen Qingqiu, while of course he gets shipped with his love interests, another really popular one is him with Liu Qingge and many other characters in the novel. I do think this also has to do with the fact that the fandom is more chill than the other two fandoms. Shen Qingqiu in general is just VERY shippable. But why? Why do some people like liushen more than bingqiu? Obviously, I know this is simply a preference, but why do people prefer it more than the canon couple? Well, I have some speculations. First, while I love Bingqiu, I can admit that their relationship is not for everyone; even for me, they’re my least favorite main couple of the three (it's just my opinion, DONT ATTACK ME🙏) because their dynamic can be seen as somewhat toxic. Luo Binghe is very obsessive and kind of yandare like in the novel, and yes, he does have character development and regrets his actions and never really wanted to hurt Shen Qingqiu. I personally don’t feel like we see as much of this development until the very end. At least for me, I feel like we should’ve spent more time with a changed Luo Binghe, and I KNOW he was influenced by Xi Mo. I still didn’t feel completely satisfied with the Luo Binghe arc. I do think we see more of his development in the extras, which is what made me like Bingqiu a lot more, but I just wish we could’ve seen this in the main story instead of optional extras because I think the extras really show Luo Binghe’s growth and his love for Shen Qingqiu in a healthier way. I am aware this boy is very mentally ill. While I’m not a writer, as a reader, I think mxtx could’ve done more for him because he can end up more dislikable for some people and just less appealing of a love interest. I personally LOVE Luo Binghe and how chaotic he is, but again, that is not for everyone, so I can definitely see why some people don’t like him as much. With Shen Qingqiu, this is a bit different. I felt that by the end of the novel he had massive progress and huge development for his character; even if he still has his flaws, you can really tell he has changed and grown throughout the story, but he’s still himself if that makes sense. I felt wayyy more satisfied with his arc than Luo Binghe's; however, I will say that Shen Qingqiu has this sort of shame. While I wouldn’t necessarily call it internalized homophobia, he does have this sort of stigma towards gay people and him being gay himself. And while it can be funny, if you really think about it, even by the end of the novel and in the extras he still has this shame of sleeping with Binghe and showing basic affection, but I won’t really criticize this much because he does improve in this a lot by the extras. By that point, it really feels more like shyness than the shame he felt at the beginning when he first discovered Luo Binghe's feelings. So I will argue that Shen Qingqiu arc is pretty well done and concluded by the end of the book; at least to me, it really did feel like he changed. Okay, so the second reason is because Bingqiu got together when they were both still ‘not at their best’. What do I mean by this? Well in tgcf Xie lian had to endure a lot of torture and experience several traumatic situations and almost released face disease and killed a bunch of people with it. He was clearly very mentally unwell! And for Hua Cheng, he also went through a lot of trauma with his mom dying when he was young and the abuse he went through from his father and the kids who made fun of him to the point where he wanted to end his life, and then later he became a ghost with his parasocial attachment to a god. We see these characters at their worst, but when they get together, they are already 800+ years old and have lived a long life and matured and learned from their experiences.

I am a librarian, and unrelated to stereotypes about my profession, I do read a metric shit-ton in a week. Most of it is fanfiction but hey, I thought maybe it's time I share my reads?

This is what I read this week:

1. Meet Cute (these dorks) by Mayvn (66, 951)

Summary: The instant he turned to dash into the fight, Liu Qingge froze as he saw Not Shen Qingqiu standing coolly over one unconscious thug, guqin in both hands and still in a pose that clearly showed he had, in fact, just bludgeoned someone with the end of his guqin. Not Shen Qingqiu smirked and tilted his head back cockily. --- LQG finds SY running away from a sticky situation and brings him back to Cang Qiong in hopes that he can keep the man from getting himself mugged. SY is just relieved he doesn’t have to pretend to be a girl anymore.

This was so dang adorable!!! It had the perfect amount of wholesome and little bit of angst.

Liu Qingge forever sleeping with one eye open because qi-ge and jiu-ge will not let him have a moments peace

This was visually stunning (as in the descriptions were beautiful, Shen yuan's magic is phenomenal)

4. Sit Softly On Your Shoulder by NebulusCharlie (149, 662)

Summary: Lan Zhan inherits a fabric shop from his late mother, and he doesn't know what to do with it. It needs to be renovated and updated, but he's not prepared for the amount of commitment it would take, especially since he runs an online antique business that is very much on the prosperous side. However, one silver-eyed young man is giving him plenty to think about...

This was such a soft fic! Almost 0 angst, all fluff, adorable little babes falling in love immediately.

I loved the healing and community this fabric shop brought all of the characters.

so so good! A wholesome as heck read. There is some light smut- I would call it more fade to black if that is important to you. The fic is not rated so I thought it good to let you know.

5. babytrap that guy and his sword but it isn't a babytrap or a baby it's just his sword by typeset (5, 846)

Summary: Liu Qingge can only stare. Cheng Luan rolls its eyes at him and tugs at the blankets again.

"Move,” His sword tells him, bossily. “I’m cold. It’s very weird without a sheath, you know? I didn’t think I could be cold, but now I am, and I don’t like it.”

He moves. Cheng Luan crawls into the bed and tucks itself right next to Liu Qingge, curling up in the gap between his arm and chest before pulling the blanket over its head. It’s very light, not in a glowing manner, though Cheng Luan is still glowing, but- it’s just. Not the weight he had expected. Do swords need food?

“Did you just cultivate to a human form?” Liu Qingge asks, suddenly very awake and aware of everything, including the cold bundle of... including Cheng Luan next to him. This is. Very unexpected. He's got no idea what he's feeling at the moment. There's many things happening. One thing. But considering that this thing is his sword becoming human and crawling into his rented bed, Liu Qingge feels as though his reaction's fairly reasonable. “Cheng Luan.”

“No. I don’t like being human.” Cheng Luan says, popping its head out of the blankets to look him in the eyes.

This was really cute! I kind of hope the series continues because I need to know what happens next with Liu Qingge and his humanoid sword

I admit I was confused when I started it but it was cleared up pretty quick

Summary: Three years after the Sunshot Campaign (and two years after Wei Ying shut himself and the Wen remnants into the Burial Mounds), something rips open in the bottom of the sea and unimaginable horrors crawl out. The cultivation world unites once more in the face of a common enemy.

Lan Wangji knows from the start that without Wei Ying, there is no hope of survival.

This was such a good read. I almost skipped it because I wasn't feeling angst at that time and I am so glad I didn't!

Also a sneaky and not talked about Lan Qiren finds love agenda which I could read an entire side series about but I will take what I get and gladly accept it.

There was too much horror trapped within the pages of those diaries for Jiang Cheng to comprehend.

omg this fic ruined me emotionally and spiritually but my god I would do it again

The absolute anguish that JC goes through- the healing it leads to [chefs kiss]

happy ending if you are worried about it- it is worth it for the remaking of the yiling patriarchs image.

10/10 incredible, so so good.

9 Hanguang-Jun and His Beloved Pet Rabbit by 96qutie (In progress fic, read chapter 36 this week)

Summary: A gentle touch stroked his back, and Wei Ying stiffened in surprise. He looked up to find pale-gold eyes staring down at him intensely.

He gulped.

“Are you hurt?” The young cultivator asked in a soft voice, as if he expected an answer— even though he was already prodding Wei Ying’s ears and legs to see for himself. When he didn’t find evidence of injury he seemed to relax. “Are you frightened?”

If Wei Ying were human, he would have blushed and tried to crack a joke to hide it. As a rabbit, he could only kick his feet like a shy toddler.

“Wangji? I heard a commotion. Is everything alright?”

With the swiftness of a child being caught up past their bedtime, Wei Ying was shoved inside a billowing sleeve.

“Mn.”

This is a ‘The Disabled Tyrant’s Beloved Pet Fish’ AU for Wangxian. That series captured my heart, so then this happened. For those who don’t know that story; you don’t have to read it to read this. I don’t follow the plot at all, and I even changed the premise a bit. It’s only loosely inspired by it.

Also just to be clear: Wei Ying is not a rabbit 100% of the time.

This is a good read in general, it is an in progress fic!

This fic has a unique take on WY resurrection/life/abilities? and I really love that about it

I love all the main couples, but just based on the pairing alone I'd say Hualian, from aesthetics to the journey they went through, it's all very pleasing to look at. As some say, Hualian invented love

2. All of the ships of SVSSS, a rarer favourite of mine being Zhushen. But I enjoy all of them, and I enjoy the character dynamics in any flavour of romantic, platonic or something more unique.

3. That one passage in SVSSS where it talks about Qing Jing being a daycare for ADHD children kills me every time, Xie Lian's iconic "I cannot get erect" and Wen Qing's and Wei Wuxian's whole "Thank you, and I'm sorry."

4. They're all super entertaining! No shade to Bingmei, Wangji-xiong and Mobei-jun but I'd have to say Hua Cheng, reason one being: He's the cuntiest. His jangly boots? Cunty. His monologues? Yes. (When his little monologue to Qi Rong was animated in the donghua I was OBSESSED. I need to be him.) Also I love what he's done with ghost city specifically.

5.Shen Qingqiu, AKA Shen Yuan.

The narrative style immediately hooked me due to its humor, and the special way he looks at the world in part due to transmigration and in whole due to his own mindset and character made it so much sweeter. His journey from beginning to end, especially when we get to the extras makes it so impactful when you return to the beginning and see such a stark difference. His little quirks, and how he's practically unarmed against politeness is hilarious.

Watching him struggle and come to terms with the personhood of the people around him was gratifying, and unfortunately for me, slightly relatable.

He's just so supremely enjoyable.

(Honorable mention here for Wei Wuxian, I adore the sibling dynamics in MDZS so much, especially Yunmeng Trio. I will be forever thankful to the untamed for it.)

6.a)Oh this is HARD.

I am only on Volume Six of TGCF, but from what I've seen of beefleaf so far... It wins. Qijiu devastates me continually, but He Xuan offing Shi Wudu in front of Shi Qingxuan? The tragedy is incomprehensible. The connection between beeflead is worse than dead, it's tainted irrevocably. And the worst part is I can't bring myself to blame just one person. Shi Wudu's motivations compel me, and He Xuan's are completely justified.

And Shi Qingxuan is caught in the middle. Losing a brother to a dear friend. He's the nexus of tragedy in this case.

6.b)

Devotion is the characteristic that strikes me as a throughline of all the pairings, Bingqiu, Moshang, Wangxian, Hualian.

(I'm going to try and keep this short lol)

Shen Qingqiu's devotion is fully demonstrated in the Holy Mausoleum arc, and Luo Binghe's is clear to anyone besides Shen Yuan.

Shang Qinghua's devotion is demonstrated during Maigu Ridge, and when Mobei-jun is left vulnerable during his subsuming of the ancestral Mobei martial aspect. And Mobei-jun's devotion is so beautifully and gently demonstrated through the pulled noodles.

Wei Wuxian's devotion isn't given as much of a spotlight due to the circumstances and time it takes him to get to the point of realization and acceptance, but his continual attentiveness and inherent trust in Lan Wangji, are clear even in his first life. The confession is a clear moment of devotion to me.

Lan Wangji's devotion is well chronicled. His very life is built around devotion. His musical compositions reflect it, his ideals are inspired by it, his family is grown by it. In Wei Wuxian's second life there isn't a moment where Lan Wangji isn't in a mindset of devotion. I think his greatest act of devotion, (though I think there was more than simple devotion at play) was his decision to take in Wen Yuan.

I cannot speak as well for Hualian, as I don't have the full context yet, but what is the bond between God and believer if not devotion? A beautiful form of devotion is worship, and Hua Cheng is a skilled master at all forms of it.

THE LOCKED TOMB PLEASEEEEE START THE LOCKED TOMB ON MY HANDS AND KNEES BEGGING. BEGGING PEOPLE TO READ TLT I LOVE TLT ITS SUCH A GOOD SERIES AND ITS ONLY THREE BOOKS (SO FAR) AND ITS GOT MYSTERY AND INSANE RELIGION AND LESBIANS AND SPACE AND LOVE AND DESTRUCTION AND PLS READ IT 🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎🧎

ahem. okay well while the locked tomb series is my favorite it is truly dependent on what ur looking for. tlt is rlly rlly rlly good its funny its heartbreaking its got so much depth to it theres like one million things you could talk about on each page and its just. really well done. however its definitely confusing at times and like. heartwrenching. griddlehark is near and dear to me and they kind of feel like being stabbed one william times #normallesbianrelationship. so you have to be Prepared before reading. but one of the main characters is a butch lesbian and the insane gender and relationship fuckery that occurs within the series is just. top notch. i could talk about it forever gideon nav i love you.

tgcf definitely did not leave me with as much emotional turmoil (though i did cry a few times) but its also a rlly good series :) definitely more of a traditional romance than tlt (though there is also some real crazy shit occuring). some of the most romance of all time was happening between hualian tho. like truly. if you want to be insane and happy about a ship this is the series. tlt on the other hand will just make you insane. it is long (8 books) but its definitely one of those series where u just dont wanna put it down. also the donghua is pretty good if that's more your speed (2 seasons out rn) and they make xie lian look so cutsie in it ^-^

okay i started the apothecary diaries today (literally on ep 10 of the anime i think) and its definitely worth the watch. very funny good animation interesting politics in the background. also i just like shows that are of the mystery/case of the week genre. the main chara maomao biggest idgafker around and her autistic demeanor has captivated me. and the love interest is giving tamaki suoh so i am enjoying him immensely (i fear ohshc did impact me greatly). i think there's also 11 light novels? which is what the anime is based on? so far the anime seems interesting enough that i might read them when i have the time

A/N: It's still October 14th here! We have a rushed ugly fic but I hope you enjoy it! Also, no beta read! Sooorryyyyy

Xie Lian giggled as he adjusted the eyepatch on his own right eye. He looked at himself in the mirror and his smile was so wide that Hua Cheng, who was watching from behind, almost felt heat on his always cold cheeks. Hua Cheng's red clothes were slightly loose and a little long, but from then on, the outfit fit him perfectly. Even that stupid hand-embroidered belt that hugged his waist. 

"I didn't know gege would enjoy wearing my clothes this much," Hua Cheng purred, a smirk pulling at his lips. "His Highness should've told me earlier."

Xie Lian turned to face his husband and his eyes twinkled. It was rare to see Hua Cheng wearing such light-color clothing and Xie Lian had second thoughts about this little game. His worn white robe looked ridiculous on someone as elegant and absolutely breathtaking as Hua Cheng. He looked beautiful in every way, but the clothes did not do justice to everything that Hua Cheng was. 

He hummed, frowning slightly. 

"What is the matter, Your Highness? Do I make that face often? That is something terrible."

Hua Cheng's comment made Xie Lian's lips spread into a bright smile, something very unlikely in Hua Cheng. 

"I am sure I do not tease you like that, gege," he said and he laughed loudly when Hua Cheng's eye widened. "What's the matter, gege? Did you like that so much?" His worries were quickly forgotten, he knew that Hua Cheng would never judge his clothes, in fact, he thought that after this little role-play, Hua Cheng would buy him three new tunics of the best fabric. 

Hua Cheng opened and closed his mouth a few times like a fish out of water and Xie Lian had to laugh, but he tried to make his laughter sound a bit deep and teasy like Hua Cheng's. Smirking playfully and mischievously like Hua Cheng always did, he hugged his lover's waist, one stray hand going to grab his ass. 

Hua Cheng gasped loudly, jumping a little. "Y-Your Highness! A-Ah," he gulped, jumping again when he felt another squeeze. "I- I mean, San Lang."

Xie Lian was around a head smaller than Hua Cheng, so he had to throw his head back a little to look at his husband's face directly. He chuckled when he saw how flustered he had become. His fair cheeks were as white as ever, no blood rushing through them, but he looked nervous and his eye was still wide, looking at Xie Lian. 

Xie Lian giggled. "Good job, His Highness. Don't forget who you are right now." 

"San Lang is teasing me too much," Hua Cheng said slowly and Xie Lian felt his ears getting a little hot when he heard that phrase he said at least twice a day. 

"Oh? I thought gege loved it when I teased him. Don't you love me anymore, Your Highness?" 

Hua Cheng was at a loss for words, and Xie Lian was very surprised to have his husband like this. It was extremely adorable, he thought he understood why Hua Cheng enjoyed teasing him so much. 

Xie Lian giggled, suddenly lowering himself so he could pick Hua Cheng up, bridal style. Hua Cheng gasped, clinging to Xie Lian's neck as the Crown Prince walked them to their divan, where he placed Hua Cheng gently before laying on top of him. 

Hua Cheng chuckled, his hands going to grab Xie Lian, but he held his wrists and quickly pinned them up above Hua Cheng's head, making him gasp. 

"Oops, did gege want to hold me? What a shame, now he can't."

"S-San Lang," Hua Cheng whined. "Why- ah! G-Gege, wahait, nohohot-"

"Ah-ah, I am no gege, Your Highness. I am San Lang and San Lang loves to tickle His Highness." 

Hua Cheng broke into loud giggles as he felt fingers skittering against one of his hips. He tried to pull his arms down, but Xie Lian was holding him tightly. 

"G-Gegehehehe-"

"That's you, silly."

"Sahahan Lahahang! Plehehease, nohohot tihihick- AHAHA!" 

Xie Lian giggled to himself as he squeezed Hua Cheng's hips, jumping from one to the other to have him jumping and shrieking with laughter. He knew his husband wasn't used to tickling at all, Xie Lian was on the receiving end most of the times, so a few squeezes were enough to have Hua Cheng laughing nearly in hysterics. 

He was so cute. 

"Oh? I always forget how ticklish His Highness is," he purred like Hua Cheng usually did. "I can't seem to get enough of his beautiful laughter so I must tickle him more!" 

"S-SAHAHAN LAHAHANG! Plehehease, not thehehere!" He cackled when Xie Lian moved his hands to his inner thighs. "Unfahahair!"

"How is this unfair, gege? It's not my fault you are so ticklish!" 

If Hua Cheng could blush, Xie Lian had a feeling he'd be flushing to his ears right now, or at least he knew he would be blushing out of his mind with his husband tickling him mercilessly, but that was something he often did.

"Maybe if gege gives me a kiss…"

"YEHEHES! Yehehehes, Sahahahan Lahahang!" 

Xie Lian laughed, letting go of Hua Cheng's wrists and quickly burying his hands under his arms to keep tickling him. Hua Cheng's laughter ringed deliciously through the whole Manor as Xie Lian tickled him. He never thought he'd enjoy this silly idea so much, but he hoped Hua Cheng would be up to try this some other time again. 

"I sahahahaid I'll kihihiss you!" 

Xie Lian giggled, "ah you're right, but I will tell you when!"
