I made this for the mini reverse big bang with @gaslightgallows, who wrote this very sweet fic to go with it. The original sketch looked quite a bit different, but his fic was so sweet I wanted to change the piece to match it.
thank you to the @do-it-with-style-events mods for another fun event, you all work so hard to make these collaborations go so smoothly and you are so appreciated!

ETA: the link has been fixed! Apparently I forgot how copy and paste works…………
I’m like, crying my eyes out, this was just a little work in progress shot but this is so nice of you, and your tags are just. wow. you are all so nice 🥺🥺🥺
@dr-lemurr Thank you so much! Really good question - it has two answers.
The background squares are a pre-made brush in photoshop, though since they are simple shapes this would be pretty easy to duplicate or even customize by changing the size and position of the squares.
The “wheels” are actually made by taking a pre-set pattern and using a specific type of palette knife brush created by Android Jones for Corel Painter 12. In this case the pattern I used the most was a blue and black butterfly wing. Different colors appear and disappear according to the kind of blending modes I use. The brushes are REALLY cool but I haven’t yet found a way to mimic them in photoshop or even Painter 2019 yet, though I would imagine there must be some equivalent out there.
In short, I paint over a lot of stuff, but many of the base patterns are from brushes and preset patterns that I manipulate before rendering 💕💕
