I want to hear more about Amnesia Island :) what does Dream think Sam is to him? Does he go poking around places he shouldn't? How does their relationship change as Dream starts to remember?

Dream is…puzzled about the nature of their relationship, to say the least. They aren’t married, but they live together and sleep together. So what are they? He asked Sam directly once, which resulted in Sam getting upset and talking in circles for a while; they spent the rest of the day in stony, strained silence. Sam calls himself Dream’s “warden.” That should be enough. Dream doesn’t want to rock the boat; he senses that would be a bad idea. The spell might break.

Because they can’t talk about it, Dream has no choice but to define their relationship in terms of what they do for each other: namely, that Sam keeps him safe and keeps other people safe from him. That last bit is crucial. Sam has repeatedly stressed the importance of keeping people safe from Dream. Sam says that before he lost his memories, Dream was a wicked man — a criminal, in fact! He tells him that Dream is still wicked, that this is the reason for Dream’s unending quarantine. Dream’s afraid to ask what specific evil deeds he wrought upon the world, but judging by the way Sam talks about those days, it must have been ugly. Really ugly. (Sometimes, Dream gets flashes: Black, orange, red. Obsidian, lava, blood. He killed somebody. He knows that, at least.)

The memories don’t come back all at once. First, they come in the form of nightmares. Then, disparate shards of memory that cut through Dream’s daily life (images, smells, sounds) and vanish again before he has a chance to process them. Dream handles this by doing what he always does: he keeps going. He brushes it off for as long as possible. He ignores it until it can no longer be ignored. During this period, Dream’s instinct is to dig his heels in and cling to Sam as tightly as he can. He’s afraid he’s losing his mind, afraid that he’s going to do something bad, something evil, just like his warden warned him about. He defers to Sam in all things, he follows every rule, even the ones he doesn’t understand, the rules he used to push back against in small ways. He needs Sam to know he’ll be good. He’ll do whatever it takes.

When Dream starts to remember in earnest, it does change their dynamic. Before his memories return, Sam’s presence is a source of comfort to him. He trusts Sam with his frail body and his anxious mind and whatever evil impulse lies dormant inside him waiting to hurt people. He trusts Sam completely, even when Sam treats him harshly or, less frequently, with open contempt. During this period, Sam is a reassurance above all else. But once Dream’s memories begin to come back in bulk, Sam’s presence becomes a source of fear and confusion. 

Does Dream go poking around places he shouldn’t? Oh boy does he ever! In fact, the point where Dream begins to suspect something is seriously wrong is when he discovers the Tool Room :) i.e. the storage chamber beneath the island house, only accessible via the secret door and ladder behind the bookshelf as shown in the first 15 minutes of this stream. Dream’s doing some light reading, or maybe a chore (dusting, perhaps?) and accidentally uncovers the hatchway that leads to a long dark tunnel. He enters, climbs down, and discovers a small room that’s mostly empty, save for the item frames on the wall. A suit of armor stands in the corner; Dream feels like it’s watching him as he slowly moves down the row of tools. Each weapon is labeled in Sam’s neat, legible handwriting: Warden’s Will, Warden’s Mercy. The list goes on. Dream doesn’t exactly recognize these items, but suddenly he doesn’t feel so safe anymore. Suddenly his brain is telling him to run, hide. Get out now.

What do you think Odile does for a living? She feels teacher like to me. What do you think she would do post canon?

ive seen a lot of people hc her as a teacher / professor so i!! think that suits her pretty well. specifically as someone who studies + specializes in different types of craft (that would be why shes so proficient in multiple craft spells. also how she was able to figure out the loops stuff, AND to find something that could prevent siffrin from looping back).

post canon i am not sure… i am always torn between how the party would handle things post canon. obviously they would keep travelling for a bit, odile alongside her family without the stress of. constant sadness encounters + a king to kill lol. i think maybe she would get to take her time, reeaally get to know vauguardian culture when not within. a crisis. as was her original intention.

eventually. EVENTUALLY. when the family settles down somewhere (i am a “they all get a big house together” believer lol) she would get back into craft stuff. maybe go back into teaching too—surely people would be eager to hire a saviour. especially though i think it would be neat of her to try looking into wish craft etc, as a long forgotten form of craft. to satisfy her own curiosity, for siffrins sake, or just as a way of preserving the countries culture in whatever ways possible.

everyone be nice to me and politely avert your eyes while i post about the horrible it movies in 2024 but I really do love to think about richie from the horrible it movies as if he were a real man with the worlds realest and most confusing career in comedy. anyways really enjoyed this hate comment on a youtube clip of the documentary now spalding gray parody episode because while it is confusing to the point of nonsensical it does charm me deeply in its recognizability as a mean thing one could say of richie it movies, a man who is real and alive and my friend

i also love the idea of someone who earnestly believes midwesterners are harmfully appropriating new england culture and is really mad about this

We need a Total Drama character who gets amnesia (because of trauma, injury, psychological reason, etc.) between season 1 and season 2. In season 1 they had some friends, enemies and a mutual love interest. When they appear in season 2, they are shocked of everyone who speaks to them. They never lost their previous skills and can use them successfully as good as the new one which were developed since their “new life”. All around them are very familiar faces. But they have no idea why the campers and the hosts know them so well. Every day, they desperately try to remember their life before the illness and before going to bed, they say to themself: “I want! I want to remember! I want to remember! I should remember! I should!”. The more they understand having amnesia, the more they find it hard to take the living without their past. Later, after being worn up while another effort, they have some sudden memories in which they hear some conversations and fragments of phrases, but do not see the faces of the speakers (they seem to have been erased from memory with an eraser). They have some colourful dreams which show some memories. Their friends and lover help them a lot to recall all about their life, despite the risk of losing their own chances of winning. They recreate the most meaningful events: first meeting, first party, first fight, first kiss, first date, etc. Little by little they begin to recall the past. The amnesia person suddenly recalls everything in the middle of a challenge (no matter in the finale or in the late merge) after seeing something strange or unusual. All these events help a lot to become closer both the friends gang and the lovers.

I am but a measly 2:00:15 into the genre-defining "Riku is Gay" video, but like. Damn, Tennelle Flowers is a cinematic genius. I've remained so thoroughly enthralled by the tasteful spacing of audio commentary, clips from the games, and excerpts from the novels/writer interviews that I've hardly even noticed the time passing. What is this video laced with, man- I love video essays, but usually I have to rewind a gazillion times due to my attention slipping against my will.

That collage of comparison clips from KH2 Beast's arc and Riku's KH1-KH2 arc is killing me, man. Ever wish you could tattoo a part of a video to your forehead? Apparently, now I do.

Ohhhh boy. Amnesia Island is a rough time for everyone. This is the AU where Dream is mortally wounded and almost dies in the prison, so Sam transfers his mind to a clone he made of Dream’s body without his knowledge. Y’know, so he can ensure his prisoner stays alive. It’s nothing more than any responsible warden would do! Surely nothing could possibly go wrong.

Of course, some part of the transfer process does go wrong, like immediately, and Dream wakes up in a new body with no memories of the events of the last 3 years. In other words, everything that’s ever happened in DSMP canon is gone. He remembers the original members of the Community House, of which Sam was one, but very little else. It’s unsettling. It’s horrible. It’s also, in many ways, a welcome respite from the nonstop trauma that the past few years have brought.

For the first time in ages, Dream isn’t afraid (except when Sam is mad at him), Dream isn’t constantly looking over his shoulder (except when he’s accidentally broken one of Sam’s rules), Dream isn’t in pain (except when Sam decides he deserves it.) He and Sam live together in the island cottage. They’re happy together. At least, Dream is pretty sure he’s happy. He’s supposed to be happy, right? He can’t remember a time when he wasn’t happy. The nightmares don’t count. Those aren’t memories. They can’t be.

In Sofia the First, which villain do you wish hadn't been redeemed? Or, which character do you wish had been more antagonistic?

I've been playing octopath 2 lately (just got through all the chapter 1s) and it's amazing, it's just as good as the first, but something about the characters kind of has me cracking up Because like Partitio and Agnea? They're extremely normal. Both of their motivations (eradicate poverty and become an entertainment star) are very normal things that people want to do in the real world. And on the other end of the spectrum, you have characters like Throné and Osvald and Hikari who have extremely dramatic goals (escape a life of slavery in a crime ring, get revenge on the man who framed him for the murder of his family, kill his evil brother and take back his kingdom) that are straight out of fantasy novels. The group dynamic must be absolutely insane.
