Call me Ambrosia or Ambi for short, I'm a plural system that likes to come up with AUs to the point of complete absurdity. My base pronouns are plural they/them but if you want to use neopronouns you're allowed as long as you make them as creative as possible. I want to see pronoun sets I could never have conceived of.

mmm, how hard, you ask? well, i mainly have problems with anatomy, because learning every vertebral notch and groove, every cranial sinus, etc is pure hell. i wonder what will happen when we start studying internal organs next semester,,, there is only a year and a half left to study, and i will be free. other than that, pretty much nothing else bothers me, even pharmacology or latin, which are also quite complex, but for me they're much more interesting. actually, i would like to do some research too, it sounds interesting!! but i'm afraid to make plans for the future, so as not to be disappointed again. so let's hope that wherever we end up, we will be happy eventually

Woah... I absolutely get the memorization struggle sobsob. I'm studying mandarin, and even though I'm learning simplified, memorizing the characters is so tough... especially when trying to write them without a reference. Hehe I can't relate to that much, my favorite thing ever is to dream of the future <3 it's what keeps me going!!! One day, I'll be in an Ivy League university, and then when I'm done I'll move to Taiwan to work as a researcher in a university.. (I hope)

My mom doesn't really mind. She's pretty open about stuff like clothing, and even if she finds dark girly a little silly, she doesn't really care. My dad doesn't like it, but he doesn't exactly forbid me to wear it. He just nags me about how much he dislikes it. But I've never really been good at listening to them about style anyways X)

Where I live there's a lot of white people, so it's pretty liberal for the region it's in, but wearing something so cute and frilly is definitely seen as childish and weird... There's The Fenton Siblings at Gotham University, which isn't one-sided romance, but it does show Tim as being in the wrong for his "investigating" of Danny.

Anyone have any recs for DC probably-crossover fics with one-sided romance with “stalking as a love language”-y stuff?

Like, one of the Bat Family’s kids has a crush on someone, and does the stalker-y stuff researching/spying on them that i’ve seen pretty often in such fics. Except their feelings are not reciprocated and it’s treated more realistically in a “stalking is really bad” way.

There’s nothing wrong with stories including not-super-healthy stuff in romance, but like I’ve seen that plot point often enough want to see it deconstructed/subverted.

I’m most familiar with the trope in DC crossovers with Danny Phantom or Miraculous Ladybug, so I’m mainly looking for those, but I’m open to other crossover types or pure DC fics as long as they fit the request.

Heck I’m cool with it not even being romantic as long as the “criticizing stalking” part is sufficiently present (e.g. Stalking Astronauts: Gotham's Latest Social Media Craze! has similar actions be criticized in relation to adoption jokes that make Danny uncomfortable)

The Appeal of Doctor Doom

My new friend asked an innocent enough question about the particulars of one Victor von Doom and about my appreciation for the character. This is what I had to say in the chat:

I have a fascination with benign dictators, in the vein of Vlad Dracula. It would be nice if such an arrangement worked and would be even better if the next dictator wasn't terrible but the facts are against.

Call this a personality thing. I am so very ISTJ.

Doctor Doom is among the smartest people on Marvel's Earth. His country (he rules a Balkan state, you know) is free from want and everyone has dignified work and the place is even a safe haven for GRT caravans, Doom himself being a gypsy. But there is also no free determinism. That's the trade off. Doom rules with a literal iron fist.

He's conquered the world on more than one occasion and solved fundamental problems overnight. Mind, he gets bored without challenge and lets control slip from his fingers but he's nonetheless great at world rulership.

But let's stop pretending about his good qualities and look at his flaws.

First, psychologically and philosophically, he is more sorcerer than scientist. He's about the lore, not the process of getting answers. Heaven forbid Doom change his perspective on anything.

His motivations are (and here I equate him in DC with no one more so than Lex Luthor) ultimately deeply selfish and self-agrandizing.

Like in the original Secret Wars, when he got ultimate power, before he did thing one for the rest of the universe he fixed his own face.

He spirals out. There's a great recent series where he's going to solo patch a black hole developing on the moon (comics, right?) That accursed Richards calls him up during the countdown to thank him and wish him success. Doom can't comprehend such a gesture and convinces himself that Richards knows something he doesn't, so he makes impulsive adjustments to his outputs and blows himself into an alternate universe. That's Doom all over.

He's so close to something grand and good but is too lacking of character to be that.

I also just love how OP he is. He's in the top five of everything (brains, magic, tech, ass-beating, a-fine-country-you-have-there-ness) but it's EVERYTHING so when you put it into one package you get a guy who can trounce the Fantastic Four on a monthly basis and laugh at them from behind diplomatic immunity.

Doom gains and loses godhead like it was fast fashion.

So bottom line, a rich and multifaceted antagonist defeated again and again by his own flaws and inability to shed those flaws. That's good fiction.

End chat. I would add to this first that I love his fraught friendship with Namor the Submariner. Those two deserve each other.

I also am still floored by Doom's willpower. He can disregard the Purple Man at a distance of two feet.

Now, bear with me while I try to pin the ISTJ personality on Peter Parker (I would accept arguments that Peter's more of a ENFJ or that the Spider-man persona is more of a ESTJ and then we'd have to straighten out which persona is the base personality. And then there's ambis who are going to loudly try and debate me over the entire legitimacy of the Myers-Briggs when I'm just trying to have a fun discussion about fictional characters from the funny books. I digress.) I think Spidey and Doom share a lot of territory, only Spider-man is humble, selfless, long-suffering, forgiving of the smallness of his charges and detractors, and deeply responsible. Spider-man is who Doom would be if Doom could grow as a person.

I was thinking about something similar to this recently. Like, what's with the focus on Kokichi's love of carbonated drinks and a fan translation of his talent when Gonta's backstory is barely a step removed from an antisemitic conspiracy theory?! "There are actually lizard people around that live in hiding from normal human people" like excuse me. I'm kind of glad that we've all pretty much chosen to ignore that part of his backstory when it comes to fanworks, but at the same time, it deserves acknowledgement when we're trying to discuss actual problems in DR's writing and themes – certainly more so than singling out Kokichi for iffy design details, at least. This is a trend, not just a problem with one character.

Was gonna go on a big rant about it again but god I am so tired of people saying Kokichi's "whole design" is a reference to Nazi Germany (even if they're explaining Japan's unfortunate approach to the whole thing) when characters like Kiyotaka, Korekiyo, Fuyuhiko, and Monaca (who has LITERALLY SWAZTICAS in her eyes) get away with no criticisms relating to their off color design elements (Kiyotaka and Korekiyo wearing militaristic outfits with red arm bands, Fuyuhiko LITERALLY being a mob boss)

(In before any of you dare come at me with "But Monaca is Evil!" I am biting you and reminding you that she was an abuse victim living with a literal pedophile who was manipulated by Junko, Kodaka's intentions of her be damned she is a CHILD.)

Like there is a CLEAR PATTERN here in Kodaka's work that you all are Just Pinning On Kokichi Because You Want Reasons To Hate Him. Stop ignoring the fact that Kodaka, like many Japanese people, glorify/idolize WW2 crap in general just so you can isolate Kokichi for a problem other characters have.

Arien/Ballister headcanons

This is just a thread of headcanons with Ballister and Arien, an OC made by goldenheart-supremacy. Bro also made fics and arts so go check them, they are really nice to read. Helped me with my headache. First one is focused on Goldenheart, second one includes more stuff with Arien.

Also this post is bloody subjective so I'm not claiming that it would happen if Arien was real.

So there's my impression of dynamics between Ballister and Arien

Throughout fanfic, Arien helps Ballister with flowers, even though at the time Bal had not so good reputation. He does it with "Ugh, fine" attitude since it means actually doing something. But the thigh is, he becomes one of those people who can see the real side of Ballister, even though he doesn't interact with him as much.

Therefore, I think his attitude towards Ballister will obviously change. And for me personally it would change from "Neutral" (you exist, but I don't really care) to "Positive neutral" (you exist, and I'm okay with this).

So at the moment when Ballister hugged him after all his help, I'm sure he didn't really mind it and was pretty much like "Mm, It's fine". I'm also convinced that he pushed Ballister off himself is bc Ambrosius was watching, so the more they stayed like that, more headache he will gain himself in the future. Maybe if Ambi wasn't there, he either will wait for him to let go or will ask "You're done?" if he wears out of patience.

I also think that he might've help him sometimes, not straight up but still. For example: - He might've seen Ballister sneak up to train more, but if guards asked him, he will say he saw nothing (although he might just think "snitches get stitches")

- Flower language. Because what if HE was the one to give the idea to gift Sunflowers? Like if he visited his sister (and she after a talk with Ballister thought about the best option of flowers might've asked Arien about his opinion with no particular context) and suggested sunflowers. Bc now I'm convinced that if this man has a nerdy side then he will be nerd for flowers. Probably will know every meaning and peculiarities.

- Arien might've been one of the reasons Ambrosius understood his feelings for Bal. Bc if someone hugs your "friend" you won't react like that person just kidnapped your puppy.

HOWEVER I also think that he will also not hesitate to help him straight up, just not so active. Like when he gave him his cloak, although he might've not and simply not care. Another thing that caught my sick brain is possibility that Arien helped Bal with training, adding little notes of why Bal wasn't able to do some things correctly (since Arien and other knights were a bit more experienced at the beginning)

Quick to adulthood. I want to think that they sometimes can chat nicely about casual stuff, just getting to know each other nicely without pushing too much, enjoying each other's company. So maybe they will trust each other enough with some personal stuff they don't normally tell people. I just thought about the scene where they both looking at the kingdom from the wall, accidentally meeting each other before, casually talking, which ended up with some deep personal things. And at this exact moment when both will suddenly realize that "Oh. We are friends" or something like that. Bc they won't say it out loud, especially Arien - he will think that it's unnecessary.

That's pretty much it. I can write much more but my brain is dying so no, not today. I'll just leave you with dirty Arien doodle which I tried to draw but ended up hating.

[ TALA !!!!!!!!! Thank you for sending this anon, I'm happy to get to talk about Tala! ( I know this is super late, I'm getting to these v slowly bc I gotta be in the right headspace to write them to write them properly and not rush them !! ) --- ANYWAYS. Tala is easily one of my favorite people on here. Also one of my oldest friends. We have been following each other for ??? Ever ??? She is a big inspiration to me. I'm always in awe at how many amazing, unique and thought-out characters she is able to create. Making OCs is ( imo ) pretty difficult, and she does it with such ease. Not only that, but she also manages to write them all differently, giving them all a different voice. They don't bleed into each other. I'm fascinated and impressed at all the original lore concepts she has, and how she manages to create such deep connections between both her own OCs, and other people's muses as well. AND ALSO, in addition to having insane creativity, she's also a wonderful writer. She has such steady story-telling, so you can really see the scenes come alive when you read them. The details, the way her characters dialogue is written? SUCH a good read. I always feel spoiled when she answers my asks and there is a whole waterfall of beautiful paragraphs to read.

I have been fortunate and blessed by her friendship. She's always been supportive of me. She's kind, and interacts with my posts. Seeing her on my dash gives me good vibes. I love reading her little OOC posts and her little dash commentaries. Like, when she's gotten an ask from someone (Ambie, for example), and she posts a heart-eye gif T - T So cute and precious. She has such a sweet personality that just makes you want to be around her and interact with her.

I'm lucky to get to write with her. She has SO many interesting characters. I've only been able to write with a few so far ( compared to how many she has in her roster ). I have a few favorites, of course--- Santa Teresa, for example ( hence the icon ). But also Sasaharu, Kerb, Yomi, PChan, Uekawa, Shane, Hachi --- yeah the list goes on.
