Do you ever think about how Bashir saw every example of his exceptionalism as a reminder that his bodily autonomy was violated and his mind altered against his will, unable to truly excel if he wanted as this could be used against him but also constantly pressured by his parents and himself Be The Best™ or else what was it all for?

Do you ever think how this dynamic relates to him being an Arab man and how many POC have to work twice as hard to be recognised and still have their achievements devalued in the fragile face of white supremacy?

Do you think about how the ultimate fear of genetic augmentation is eugenics and the elimination of traits seen as undesirable under neurotypical str8 white supremacy? And the view of those who are unaltered as lower? And yet Bashir, a goofy, twinky, Autistic MOC who shows these traits very clearly, is seen as one of the only functional, successful augments? How instead of cold, inhuman amorality associated with augments (as Garak accuses him of) Bashir's morality is so so human - every line he skirts and boundary he crosses a desperate attempt to save lives and connect with other people? How he views himself as lower than everyone because of these augmentations and views any accolades as bittersweet, a reminder of the boy Jules who he feels he murdered to live?

Do you ever think about how Bashir constantly lives with the blinding, consuming fire of Kahn noonien-singh above him, unaware he is the gentle shadow at his feet?

Do you ever think about the emotional rollercoaster of Julian Bashir and want to give him a hug?

Or do you only think of yourself?

the tale of "usakumya-chan"

"deep in the forest of a faraway land, there lived a stylish little bear. on a sunny afternoon, the little bear happened upon a very long-eared bunny. in that moment, his heart was stolen by those lovely ears. the little bear wanted nothing more than a pair of long ears for himself. thinking he too could have long ears, the little bear sat in front of the mirror and pulled on his round ears until they turned red. the little bear cried and cried every day because his ears remained the same.

then, one day, the little bear saw a lovely girl wearing BABY's clothing. she listened to his story from beginning to end, and decided to grant the little bear's wish! as if by magic, the girl presented the little bear with an exquisite bunny-eared bonnet. the little bear placed the bonnet on his head, and looked at himself in the mirror. all of a sudden, the tears stopped. the little bear looked just like a little bunny with red eyes from endless crying and long ears atop his head.

the girl exclaimed, 'so cute! where i am from, we call bears 'kumya.' from now on, you will be known as 'usakumya-chan.'' the little bear was so happy, he traveled to candyland, where the girl resides. everyone in candyland wears BABY's clothing, and everything there is cute and sweet. usakumya-chan and the magical girl spent many fun-filled days in candyland."

hi <3 so! islanders are mothfolk. theyre like actual moth sized theyre itty bitty.

sif meets the party and believes that if he cant keep up with them hes not going to be loved. if theyre not "useful." so they push themself wayy harder than they should to keep up with all his human friends. he mostly attacks via craft skills to keep up damage wise, and flies around to keep up with them speed wise.

siffrins life would be like. a million times easier if their friends didnt think they didnt like touch lol. i mean thats true in canon but especially here.

i haint watched the dang chibisode and idk if ill actually watch it with sound on sdfjk but i have a hurt feeling about them casually imbuing perry with speech for a one off gag because the idea that he needs to talk to communicate is fake. we had 4 seasons of wacky magic hijinks cartoon where perry never needed verbal speech to communicate. they couldve done this gag at any point in the show but they didn't, and the fact that they didn't felt significant. perry's muteness is such a core part of his character, to me, to the way i conceive of him/write him. i don't wanna overreact to a goofy little side cartoon (even tho i'm doing it anyway) but it's still the characters, and it still upsets me! ok that's it i've said my piece
