after him being frontstuck since 2018 i've never seen him gone for so long- this is from the duration of April - June he's finally getting the break he deserves,, so bittersweet and proud of him

Something incredibly satisfying about knowing your craft and the confidence that goes with it. Just the casual “yeah I could make that”. Want a band tee? Yeah I can embroider my own with the lyrics I want. Bridesmaid dress too long? Yeah I can hem it. Need new slippers? Yeah I can crochet a pair (and give them bunny ears). And of course it’s not perfect but nothing beats that feeling of being able to craft your own solution with your own two hands

here's the last paragraph i wrote! it's a random snippet of edwin's pov on his first meeting with charles, right after charles asks to stay.

Charles would tire of being a ghost soon enough. While it was the only option Edwin had, Charles still had another. He missed the sorts of things from life Edwin could not, never having experienced them; it would make the spectral plane a terribly lonely place for Charles. In due time he might even grow to loathe being dead. Already Edwin feared such a future for him—for this bright-eyed, overfamiliar boy, who sought his company so recklessly. What sort of companionship could Edwin hope to offer to a soul like Charles? He did not know yet about Edwin's tendency towards fits of the sullens, his attachment to his books, his exacting and difficult nature. But it would be all right, surely; for Charles could simply go where he was appointed, when he was ready. The world would return to its proper order, then.

(*90s-teen-movie-style splitscreen flash forward to edwin's love realization* it was most certainly not all right.)

So in your manor purgatory AU, do other costumes canonically exist?

Because imagine what'll happen when Norton realizes everyone connected to Fluorite's essence (including his and Alice's B tiers) has gemstones embedded into their bodies...

To some extent! From what I understand, essences are like alternate universes or story lines. While I don't particularly see the characters change backstories and memories with their skins in the eternal manor AU, I like to think they have some of these costumes in their wardrobes. They are granted these outfits by the strange forces of the manor, and they can use them on different occasions. Most of them prefer to wear their defaut outfits, though.

(This is a little besides the point, but I thought it would be a fun detail that the essence stories are written down in books and can be found in the manor's library. CoA is after all stories by Orpheus canonically. I'm unsure if the characters would be able to recognise themselves if they read them, though. I'm also still debating if Orpheus would be the one writing them all.)

I can see Norton would find it a little horrifying to find out that parts of his and others' bodies were made of gem stones. Despite it being a detail not unlike his hunter identity, getting turned into stone would horrify him because he has so many bad memories associated with the mines, which is pretty much the setting of the Fluorite essence. Yes, valuable gems and all, but also body horror.

Tip for nonhuman alters (or anyone else), if you have dysphoria involving claws, these "claw rings", sometimes similarly sold as "finger armor" are fantastic.

I know it's not halloween time right now, but some stores like Spirit sell them as well.
