pro tip!

if you use alt text on a photo in your post, and some else adds in an in-line text image description, don't explode in capslock anger about "there already being an image description" because guess what! Tumblr breaks alt text all the time, and not everyone can use alt text that needs image descriptions.

You can either thank people for taking the time to copy your alt into an in-line image description, or you can ignore it, but if you decide to blow up and rant at people for wanting posts to be fully accessible for all....... are you actually an ally to disabled people???

[Updated] HK Miscellaneous Items Ref

I decided to make this its own post rather than tacking it on in a reblog. If you’ve seen my previous Hollow Knight Reference post, then you’ll know I had a ref for miscellaneous items, charms, abilities, etc.

While working on that ref I was frequently having to move around and resize the sprites to keep everything organized. If you’ve ever used Procreate you know that repeatedly resizing things causes them to lose quality and get blurry. So, I’ve now gone back and updated all the images so that they’re higher res. I also moved some stuff around and added a few new images/sprites. There’s a more detailed changelog w/side-by-side comparisons below the cut

Changelog:

Doubled the size of the canvas from 5”x3.3” to 10”x6.6”

Added: Left and right half of Kingsoul charm, alt Kingsbrand sprite, Salubra’s blessing icon, essence sprite, 6 more old/cut charms, cut items from Sly’s shop, (speculated) preview of ability granted by the “White Crystal Ring” item, flying lifeblood seed, and labels for cut-content

Rearranged/swapped around the placement of the tradable-items/currency, keys, mask/soul UI icons, misc rewards, and quest items

Rearranged the cut-content items and made their designated box bigger

Added this image and a version of it without the cut-content labels to the google drive folder

I saw two last things this morning- the royal palace, and the Van Gogh museum. The royal palace was very lovely but I felt pretty limited in what we could see, compared to others I’d been to; it’s a lot of peering in through doorways at rooms instead of being able to go in. The Van Gogh museum is amazing though; they also provided drawing supplies to visitors which I thought was really neat and I did do my best to copy a painting I liked.

These photos were taken in the garden of the Rijksmuseum which I passed on the way (didn’t go in that day as I’d been in earlier in the trip). Then I hopped on the Eurostar to London!

number one: the soil tiller!

i have had multiple people ask me whether or not we were gonna bury people in it.

number three: the actual woodchipper!

honestly we should probably put more effort into childproofing things like that.

number four: that random pile of miscellanious chunks of concrete and stone!

there's more underneath the dead leaves and weeds. it's like three feet tall and 15 feet long and four feet wide.

number five: the doorstep without a door!

not included are: the narnia lamppost, the several gallons of non-childproofed gasoline, the junk yard, the ex-garden/reclaimed-by-nature spot, Mount Doom, the door to nowhere, that random stack of bricks, and the train tracks.

It's my 3 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳

(Well, technically yesterday now…)

It was August of 2021, I was sitting in my late aunt’s recently-emptied bedroom in my grandfather’s early 1970s house in central Ohio, in the middle of an Ohio heatwave, the retrofitted air conditioning and ceiling fans unable to keep up with heat that would have seemed impossible when the house was built or the AC added.

For the second summer in a row, I was writing a lot, a couple of hours before bed each night, sometimes maybe even three. (Even finishing an occasional fic, too 😂) And I had lots of thoughts and wanted to interact with other Hosies, have a blog where I could talk about my ideas and writing and so forth…

And the rest, as they say, is history… 🎂🎂🎂

(Seems fitting that yesterday I also published the first part of my latest fic, number 35, after a long break without getting anything across the finish line.)
