Rewatching season one has been so interesting for analyzing Penelope and Colin. First of all I forgot what a good friend Penelope was to Marina (before publishing about her pregnancyâŠ) and how hard she tried to dissuade her from tricking Colin.
Their conversation is so interesting though. Marina says that Colin is not interested in Penelope because he sees her the same way he sees his younger sisters, not implying he sees her in a familial way, but that he sees her as still being a girl. AND SHES RIGHT. And this isnât a case of Colin being oblivious to his feelings- she does come off so much younger than the other debutants. From her shyness to her fashions to her makeup. I actually think the costume and makeup is purposeful to make her look as young as possible. Colin IS clearly fond of Penelope. He KNOWS heâs fond of Penelope.
So then I think of âI would never dream of courting herâ or âyou do not count you are Penâ and like. I get it. Yes it was not considerate to her but if MY younger sisters friend looked and acted similarly young I also would be like âthatâs a kid not a womanâ ya know.
Itâs also really interesting to me the kinda reoccurring theme in Bridgerton about how women in the society find ways to take agency of their lives. From main characters to barely mentioned widows- it comes up near constantly. I think pre season 3 Penelope felt completely helpless in society. She felt she had no agency, that all she could do was stand by and hope to be noticed. All of her desire for agency and attention is poured into Whistledown. Or out through Whistledown? Anyway basically the second she takes some agency of her life outwardly Colin (as well as other members of society) are quick to pay her more attention. Like yes the clothes and hair and makeup helped but those are just ways to show her inner attitude has shifted.
So Colin is always fond of her (very openly, heâs really so sweet in season 2 until the very end), but the MOMENT she signals a shift in her attitude and intentions heâs like wait đ this is a woman. A beautiful woman. A woman I love talking to.
Idk I think we should give Colin more credit. Like Penelope may have known she liked Colin sooner, but neither of them were REALLY ready before.
#polin#penelope featherington#colin bridgerton#bridgerton#Iâm at the airport at 4 am sorry if this is incoherent#Iâm not rereading it to find out

so, i've been thinking about laios's relationship with his mother. we all know about his daddy issues by now, but no one thinks about his mother. i mean, he disowned her as well. he hardly talks about her. he has a lot to say about his dad but when it comes to his mother, the most he'll say is "idk, she was kinda sick a lot."
and i think it was because he did hold her on a high pedestal. she's his mother, his protector. i know for sure she babied him a lot. mothers who's first-born is a son mostly do.
she was the one who even gifted him his precious monster manual!
so, what happened? why did he also lump her with his father and decided "i'm never speaking to them ever again." ?
to put it in simple terms, it was falin. laios was so upset about how his parents treated the situation about the villagers' abuse to falin. both of them didn't know how to handle it, but they both failed at protecting her. the best their father can come up with is sending falin away to the magic school. (without explaining why bc their dad sucked at communicating with his family.)
their village was also very conservative, especially towards magic-users. i always found it to be odd since magic does seem to be the norm in the "dungeon meshi" world, however evidence shows it's not all well-known all around the world. i mean, rin's parents were burnt to death for using magic that was thought to be "black magic".
and falin's natural magical talent being "talking to the dead" would make anyone nervous bc that could be linked to black magic.
their mother is always described to be "frail", and i bet it's mostly because she's very superstitious. gotta be honest here as well, she maybe wasn't mentally healthy. this is just an assumption but their mom comes off as paranoid and anxious, and then does these made-up rituals to try to "heal" her daughter.
hurting falin like this was the final nail in the coffin for laios, because maybe he thought he could rely on her? "hey mom, can you tell dad not to send falin away? please?"
yeah, she had "good intentions", but she still abused her daughter? because she made the situation about herself and went "oh god, it's my fault my daughter is a freak. i have to fix this."
also, laios looking so stressed and haggard here makes me so sad. like, what if their mother did something similar to him when he was younger? he wouldn't care about himself getting hurt, but seeing his own mother doing it to falin is nerve-wrecking.
the way both siblings are portrayed as autistic in different ways is important to their characters. just because falin understood why their parents did what they did, doesn't make it okay. they still hurt her, and laios knows that. and in a way, they hurt him too.
if their parents couldn't protect them from awful, nasty people and expected their children to just bare it, how can laios trust them?
this is scary to see for a child.
after that, he pretty much gave up on his parents and never looked back. but i also think, if he misses them, it's more his mother than his father.
afterall, he did his best to keep his monster manual safe.
#dungeon meshi#dungeon meshi spoilers#delicious in dungeon#delicious dungeon#laios touden#falin touden#laios and falin's mother#gothie's opinions#btw what i meant when i said their mom probably did similar rituals to laios when he was younger#was that he seemed to be nonverbal as a toddler if that one extra about the day he met falin is the only comic of baby!laios#and autistic children during those time periods were always thought to be something evil or something similar#so who's to say their mom didn't try some of those weird made-up rituals on him too? đŹ#that's mostly a headcanon tho but tbh i wouldn't be too surprised

AITA for asking someone not to make my art about a ship I hate?
This happened a couple months ago, but Iâm still kinda unsure if I handled it correctly.
Basic rundown of events: I posted some art of a character on their own in the evening, and when I woke up the next morning, someone had reblogged with an addition about a ship thatâs a big notp for me. I messaged them to ask they delete it as politely as possible, because people had been interacting with that version of the post specifically and it made me uncomfortable. They responded by saying I was being immature and needed to learn not to police what other people do on the internet. We exchanged a couple more messages, and I tried to explain my position my throughly. Neither of us was overtly hostile or anything, but I felt extremely talked down to by their tone of voice. After our conversation, we both blocked each other, and that was that. They never did delete their addition.
Why I think I might be TA: we werenât exactly friends or anything. Neither of us followed each other. Iâd seen them around in the fandom, and theyâd reblogged some of my art in the past, but I think messaging someone I didnât know instead of just blocking them might have been a bit of an overreach. Plus the ship in question is canon, and not particularly controversial or anything, so most people in the fandom probably wouldnât have minded.
On the other hand, the ship being so unavoidable is a big part of the reason it upset me so much. Itâs hard for me to exist in this fandom without having to see it constantly, and I donât even ever mention the other character in it for fear of this exact thing happening. Iâve had people be assholes on my posts about the ship I prefer, or go out of their way to interpret my romantic posts about them platonically, or add tags to my art about how they only like my ship as backstory and not endgame. I donât want to have to put a disclaimer every single time I post about this fandom. I just want to enjoy the things I like without being negative all the time. Which is why I figured messaging privately was more polite than making a stink where everyone could see. I specifically mentioned that I knew they wouldnât have known and wasnât mad.
No one actually ended up reblogging their addition, which is also a strike against me, but I got a lot of likes on specifically that version of the post, which made me scared they were going to. I hated the idea of having to turn off reblogs on a piece Iâd worked pretty fucking hard on because a version I found so upsetting was in circulation. If it was just tags, Iâd have blocked, but it being an addition is different. I donât think asking people not to make my posts about it is âpolicing what other people do on the internetâ. Youâre in MY house, on MY post with MY art I spent hours on. Making additions to art posts already seems somewhat rude to me, thatâs just not something you do, but I guess thatâs a matter of the corner of tumblr culture youâre used it.
Also, their response felt very aggressive and condescending. They implied I was, like, a kid, and I do think Iâm somewhat younger than them, but the only information about my age in my bio at the time was that Iâm an adult, so it felt like a rude assumption. My age doesnât have anything to do with it.
Again, though, I do absolutely see how my initial message could read as entitled. During the rest of our messaging, I did lose my temper a little bit at one point; I said something about how Iâve had to deal with shit in this fandom before, and I donât remember the exact words since, again, we both blocked each other, but I know I swore at them. That mightâve come across as more aggressive than I wanted, and probably didnât exactly help deescalate. (Canât say for sure, I donât have their side of the story)
Like I said, this situation was a bit ago now, but it upset me pretty bad at the time, and Iâm still not entirely sure whoâs in the wrong. So, AITA?
(Also to get ahead of this: please donât make this about shipcourse in the comments. Itâs not about that. They and I have similar opinions on that discourse from what Iâve gathered anyway. Thanks.)
What are these acronyms?

Okay I have to yell about Koleda Belobog Zenless Zone Zero because I feel like I love her in a very specific way that I havenât seen a lot of people talk about. More under the cut because I have,,, so many thoughts.
Koleda is such a good portrayal of someone who struggles with their perception as an adult. A pretty easy conclusion to make with the first thing she usually says on the character select screen being âHey, donât look down on me!â, but it definitely goes a lot deeper the more you spend time with her. Specifically, she seems to struggle in her perception of herself as someone much more mature than her younger peers, but still not on the same level as the adults in similar positions of power as her. I kinda. Hate zenless for not explicitly stating how old she is, but given she rose to her position at Belobog âwhen she came of ageâ (which honestly, I still canât give a concrete answer to what hoyo means by this? Some searches I found claimed the working age to be 16 in China, Iâve seen others online claim 18 but thatâs not reliable. Hoyo I'm begging you put official ages on your characters it's a cool and based practice), she waited for a significant amount of time before taking up her role as president. She is an adult from what the game implies, and a core part of her character is fighting against the constant infantilization she faces due to how she looks.
Letâs start with her love of desserts (and a honestly this is the reason I started writing this). Itâs her most highlighted character trait (it is also the first known attribute in her trust rank profile when you unlock her), and most of her trust events on 6th street revolves around them. Initially, she hesitates in proclaiming her love for them, likely to avoid being perceived as childish.
Her rank 4 trust special event is, admittedly, my favorite, but itâs one of the best breakdowns of this.
In order to maintain her image as a mature adult, she uses her position as company president to get around having to request a special dessert drink by name (in her defense, "Sweet Girl Fluffy Marshmallow Lambkin Milk" is an insane mouthful of a product name). At the end of the event she admits that saying its name âwasnât as bad as she thoughtâ, but her initial kneejerk reaction was a complete rejection of even entertaining the idea of doing something that could put the image she worked so hard to create and maintain at risk. Despite this, she still refuses desserts that aren't tooth-rottingly sweet, even if they are seen as the more mature or "refined" option. It's only around people that she really trusts does she allow this part of herself to be known, because she knows they wouldn't misconstrue this behavior as childish.
I also think her perception on the differences between kids and adults is interesting ("thank you agent story quest" we all say in unison). She doesn't ever feel like she fits in with other kids, probably due to all the responsibility she had to take on as the eventual heir to her father's company. But she also holds a vocal distain for many of her adult peers. Her declaration of "When I was younger, I thought the whole world was rotten, trying to make people just as rotten when they grow up." is a reflection of how she struggled to find her place in the world as she was forced to suddenly transition into adulthood, while still trying to understand the actions of the adults around her.
Her relationship with her father becoming strained contributed significantly to her world outlook as well, and may have caused such a specific distinction of what she deems "the world of adults". I don't want to dive too specifically into that because spoilers and the game is only a few weeks old so. Pin that for another time maybe? It definitely matters in the sense that the loss of her father is the catalyst for the loss of her childhood, but a lot of the specifics in how that affected her are speculative (and I don't wanna get too headcanon-y in this particular post) and she explicitly chooses not to discuss it too in-depth with the proxy (which, girl. Valid). But she's slowly learning to cope with that loss, at least it seems that way by the end of chapter 3. Honestly I could probably find more to add about the agent story in particular, but I would have to replay it to get a better idea.
To me, Koleda Belobog is very solid representation for women who had to grow up too fast, struggle with the perception of being seen as an adult, and hold guilt about indulging in acts that can be perceived as childish by their peers because they never fully got the chance to just be a kid. It truly did resonate with me, and it feels like such a specific "if you know, you know" kind of experience that I don't feel is talked about as much in media, especially with people who identify as female during their youth.
Also, also! I hope they dive in a bit more on how she got/has so much hollow corruption at a young age. Because they imply that she is so short as a result of this hollow corruption. Like that's so damn interesting conceptually and I know they delved on it more in Rina's agent story but. It was more of a mental affliction than a physical one.
Anyway I've been working on this for like 2 days now but that's all I have in terms of like. A canon-compliant character analysis.
TLDR; Koleda is such a perfect example of "God forbid short women exist" and I love her for that. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

She makes me insane I love her so much#Koleda belobog I will be your biggest truther#forgive me I'm still figuring out how to tag posts#I may do more stuff with her in the future but it will. Probably lean on some headcanons and probably (definitely) some ocs#Just. Know that I love the Belobog Heavy industries family very dearly

PAIRINGS â Fitzwilliam Darcy x fem!Reader
SUMMARY â Referred by a close family friend, reader finds herself a job tutoring a lovely young girl and begins to form an unlikely connection with her older brother
WARNINGS â slight angst, non main character death, breastfeeding (non descriptive, idk if this i need a warning for this but)
NOTE â okay so I know some of my fics in the past got kinda niche with concepts and some characters but honestly I think weâre entering a new era with that, but either way I hope those of you who like P&P enjoy this just as much as I do :) also I wrote this with Colin Firthâs Darcy in mind but I think it could just as well work with Matthew MacFaydenâs (This can be considered to happen after his proposal to Lizzie but like if they didnât end up working out)
You tried desperately to shake off the nerves that overcame you, it was not like this was the first wealthy family you had tutored for, but something about Pemberley just seemed so out of your grasp. You had received the position only through an old colleague who was moving to Scotland to be nearer to his family and had communicated with your employer via mail. From what your friend had shared his former boss wasnât one who was warm and open, he might even be considered a little standoffish, but all he wanted was what was best for his younger sister who you would be tutoring.Â
Heâs a good man, heâs just maybe not as warm as youâre used to.Â
And according to friends you were used to a lot warmer than most. Your father was never shy showing his affection to his children and you all loved him more for it, but it seemed to make you just a little off put with the way everyone acted in such a closed off society.Â
With one final deep breath you knocked and the door was almost immediately opened by one of the servants.Â
âI-Iâm here to see Mr. Darcy,â you explained. âIâm the new tutor for Miss Darcy.âÂ
âYes, Miss (L/N) is it?âÂ
âYes, maâam,â you gave her a polite smile.Â
âRight this way, Mr. Darcy is in his office.âÂ
You followed the housekeeper inside and had to keep yourself from gasping at the beauty of Pemberleyâs interior.Â
After your presence was announced to Mr. Darcy, you were allowed to enter the room and gave a quick curtsey to get the formalities over with.Â
âMr. Darcy, itâs nice to finally meet you in person,âÂ
The man nodded, but offered no response.Â
âI am assuming you have gone over the subjects I would like Georgiana to go over?âÂ
âYes sir,â you nodded and bit the inside of your cheek. It was your job, why wouldnât you have done that?Â
âVery well, then that will be the extent of our dealings today. Someone will take your to Georgiana so you can meet her and being your studies,âÂ
âThank you, sir,âÂ
Hamish was right, Mr. Darcy was not as warm as you were used to.
The lady who had shown you to Mr. Darcy beckoned you to follow her again and took you down the long halls and up the grand staircase which took you to the young Miss Darcy.Â
When you saw her she was hunched over what looked like a piece of sheet music, making various annotations and comments in the margins. You remembered a younger version of yourself doing something similar to remind yourself of where there needed to be extra emphasis on things.Â
Georgiana Darcy had a quiet shyness even just to the way she carried herself, but in that way she reminded you of your younger sister closest to you in age. She was maybe a year or so older than Georgiana and even from having barely known her a few moments you knew if they were ever to meet they would be great friends.Â
âMaâam,â Georgiana looked up and noticed you in the room, quickly shuffling away her papers while introductions were made.Â
âItâs nice to meet you,â you smiled. âIâm close friends with Mr. Morrison, heâs told me a lot about you.âÂ
âYou know Mr, Morrison? I was so sad to hear he was moving so far away,â Georgiana sighed. âHe was a very engaging tutor,âÂ
âI hope I can live up to his standard,â you chuckled. âYour older brother gave me the impression that youâre prepared to begin your lesson today.âÂ
âI am,â she confirmed. âI was hoping we could start with something a little lighter though, but knowing my brother and his curriculum that might be impossible.âÂ
âHe does have very high hopes for you,â you noted. âHe mentioned to me in one of his letters he hopes for you to have the tools to be a smart, capable, and independent young lady.âÂ
âAs long as being independent doesnât mean being sad and alone,,â she giggled. âCome, I have a space set up in another room for lessons.âÂ
Georgiana took your hand and dragged you off to her study room, decorated by he you assumed, with flowers, paintings and lots and lots of books. There was even another piano in the corner of the room and she gauged your reaction to the space.Â
âItâs beautiful,â you grinned. âYou did this all yourself?âÂ
âAside from moving the piano, yes,â she nodded. âBut I told them where to put it and my brother helped me pick out the paintings.âÂ
âWell, you both have very good taste,â you praised. âWhich might be a rather nice segue into our first lesson,âÂ
âAre we going to paint?â Georgiana asked, she even looked a little excited.Â
âI hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately not. Itâs a review of art history, but I promise Iâll try to make it as bearable as possible,âÂ
âI trust you,â Georgiana smiled and sat down at the table. âAs long as you can keep up with my endless questions we should be in good shape,âÂ
âIâll try my best.âÂ
You smiled as you set down your papers and lesson plans. You would have to send a letter to Hamish because this may just turn out to be the best job youâd ever have.Â
â
It had been a few months of you working at Pemberley and you couldnât have been happier. Your walk to and from the village everyday was a little long, but it was worth it when you had a student like Georgiana. It really felt like you were spending time with your younger sister and you thought she maybe even came to see you as an older sibling.Â
You had only really spent a handful of moments with Mr. Darcy and most of the pleasant ones involved his younger sister. You hadnât much inclination to spend time with him although you didnât complain when he came to sit in Georgianaâs study room to observe or read quietly while you went through your lessons with her.Â
There was a quiet handsomeness to him and although he was not outwardly warm and fuzzy at least he was like the works of art you would review with Georgiana when discussing sculpting during the Renaissance.Â
One afternoon during lunch, you noticed Georgiana was sending her brother some sideways glances, as if she wanted him to say something and when he wasnât understanding her signals she cleared her throat and turned her attention to you.Â
â(Y/N)-,âÂ
âGeorgiana, weâve spoken about this,â her brother scolded.Â
âNo, itâs quite alright,â you assured Mr. Darcy. âWeâve made a small agreement to refer to each other by our first names,â you explained.Â
âI am well aware of the agreement, but that doesn not change the fact that it demeans your position as her tutor when she refers to you so plainly,âÂ
âI didnât think my name was that plain, sir,â you remarked and ate a bite of your salad while Georgiana chuckled. That seemed to silence him so his sister continued.Â
âAnyways, I was meaning to ask you about your walk to Pemberley every morning, it must be terrible when the weather is poor.âÂ
âI must admit it worries me to catch a cold when I should be fit enough to work, but I donât mind the walk too much,âÂ
âI believe what my dear sister is trying to express,â Mr. Darcy jumped in. âIs that weâve cleared a room for you to stay at Pemberley if you wish to do so.âÂ
âA room here?â you confirmed and Georgiana nodded with a wide smile. âYou wouldnât have to get up so early in the morning anymore and if youâd like to walk you can always do it around the grounds.âÂ
âT-Thatâs an incredibly kind offer Mr. Darcy,â you looked at him. âAre you sure this is something you would be alright with in the long term?âÂ
âIâve given it extensive thought and it seems to be the best course for Georgianaâs studies and to ensure your continued good health.âÂ
âWell then, in that case Iâd be honoured to accept your offer,â you smiled shyly. âIâll move my things this weekend.âÂ
âFitzwilliam and I can come and help you,â Georgiana suggested. âCanât we?âÂ
Mr. Darcy looked at his little sister and you thought you might have caught a flicker of a smile before he nodded his head.Â
âWe can bring a carriage down and help load it up,â
He very well could have people come and do that for him, but there was something interesting about how he was so casual in accepting the suggestion of his sister.Â
You would have assumed helping his younger sisterâs tutor move into his home to be something quite beneath him.Â
âThank you, thatâs a very kind offer. Iâll be sure to have tea waiting for when you arrive,âÂ
Georgiana clapped her hands together as if having you move to Pemberley was the best news sheâd ever heard. You couldnât help but wonder if the closed off and distant Mr. Darcy was doing all of this to please his younger sister, but when you took a moment to glance at him you saw how his eyes were already fixed on you and maybe it wasnât just Georgianaâs doing after all.Â
â
Something you would never come to understand was how the gardens of Pemberley were so pristine no matter the time of year. The hedges were perfectly trimmed, flowers beautifully in bloom and never wilted.Â
During the summer months it was warm enough to go outside and sit without a jacket by the lake which you enjoyed doing on the weekends, bringing a good book and soaking up as much of the sunlight as you could get.Â
You were so engrossed in your novel, oftentimes you wouldnât notice if someone had come to call on you, or anything around you for that matter.Â
So it came as a shock when you heard a voice that was in very close proximity to you, making you jump with fright.Â
You placed a hand on your chest to steady your beating heart as you looked up only to find Mr. Darcy there.Â
âOh, Mr. Darcy, I donât think Iâve been scared like that since⊠well, itâs been a long while,â you tried to catch your breath and steady it.Â
âI apologize,â he said. âMight I ask what has inclined you to sit out here,âÂ
âWell, the sunlight for one,â you noted. âAnd a good book which I was reading until I was so frightfully interrupted.âÂ
âRight,â he nodded. âI should take my leave so you can continue-,âÂ
âMr. Darcy Iâm afraid you misunderstand me,â you interrupted him with a small chuckle. You were only teasing him, âIf youâd like to join me you're most welcome to. This is, after all, your home.âÂ
Mr. Darcy lifted his coattails and sat himself down on the grassy knoll next to you, looking out towards the lake.Â
âIs your family all in good health?â he inquired.Â
âYes, as of last week they are,â you nodded.Â
âYou have how many siblings?âÂ
You took a moment to count on your fingers, whispering the names of each of your sisters and one brother until you had the final count of six.Â
âSix, sir. I assume itâs just you and Georgiana?âÂ
âYou are correct in your assumption,â he nodded.Â
There was a moment of awkward silence between you both before you figured you would probably have to be the one to break it.Â
âI do enjoy myself greatly at Pemberley, Iâm very thankful for your hospitality.âÂ
Still silence, but as if he wasnât sure how to answer.Â
âMr. Darcy are you alright?â you asked.Â
âQuite,â he cleared his throat and nodded. âYes, Iâm quite alright,âÂ
His eyes drifted over to your book and noticing its title he pointed to it.Â
âM-May I?âÂ
âOf course,â you nodded, sliding in your bookmark and handing the novel to him. His fingers brushed over yours and you could feel your breath hitch at his touch.Â
He examined the binding and structure of the book before its contents, scanning the first few pages, but you were too focused on the burning feeling that he left on your fingertips. You gently massaged it away hoping he wouldnât notice the way you had reacted to such a simple thing, but desire was nothing to be fooled with.Â
âH-Has it passed your inspection, Mr. Darcy?â you asked, glancing down at the book, then at him, your hand still folded in your lap.Â
âI have no objections,â he agreed. âA fine choice.âÂ
âIâve only just started it,â you told him. âIâm rather anxious to see how it ends,âÂ
He took one last glance at the title as if he wanted to commit it to memory before handing it back to you.Â
âI shall look forward to hearing your thoughts on it once you finish,âÂ
You smiled when he said that, you knew what Hamish had said when you first came to Pemberley, but now that you had been there the greater part of four months you wished to believe that maybe Mr. Darcy did have a soft side.Â
âAnd I shall look forward to conversing with you,âÂ
You noticed the faintest twitch of his lip as if he was fighting away a smile, but he quickly brushed it off and gave you a polite nod before standing up and wishing you a good day.Â
You opened your book back to where you had left off, but your mind was distracted. It was safe to say you didnât get much further.Â
â
âFitz, you have to help me convince her sheâs being very stubborn,â Georgiana eyed you and you tried to focus on eating your dinner.Â
âIâm sure Miss (L/N) has a very good reason to not be convinced of whatever it is youâre asking of her,â Mr. Darcy came to your defence.Â
âBut-,âÂ
âGeorgiana,â her brother warned, but the young lady would not have it.Â
âFitzwilliam,â she mimicked him. âSheâs planning on staying bolted up in her room during our ball you have to do something,âÂ
Mr. Darcy looked up from his plate to you, his hands holding the utensils relaxing as he eyed your curiously.Â
âYou wonât come to the ball?â he asked.Â
âNo sir, I was not intending to,â you shook your head.Â
âMay inquire as to why?âÂ
âI-I donât have anything to wear,â you admitted. âAnd I do not want to make yourselves or myself out of place with the company you shall be hosting,âÂ
âIt would be more cumbersome for us if you werenât there,â Georgiana tried to convince you. âMost of these balls are out of societal obligation and Fitzwilliam and I would be better off with your company, not without it. Lord knows how much he hates small talk,âÂ
âGeorgiana, now thatâs enough,â Mr. Darcy ended whatever was left of the conversation. âMiss (L/N) is a grown woman and can make the decision herself on whether she will attend the ball or not,âÂ
You thought that would be the end of it and that you would stay in your room with no questions asked, but a few days later when you walked into your room there was an unfamiliar package on the bed.Â
You picked it up and unwrapped the carefully folded paper packaging to reveal a beautiful dress, one of the latest fashions from London. Something you could never imagine being able to afford.Â
Attached to the package was a note, you quickly unfolded it and read what was written.Â
I hope you understand that I only wished to remove any barriers preventing you from joining us next week. The decision is still yours, but I hoped this might help.Â
Darcy
You looked down and examined the dress again. It was in a colour you remembered having mentioned â perhaps it was to Georgiana â you liked and the detailing was something like youâd never seen.Â
You closed the door to your room and slipped off the dress you were wearing, replacing it with the one from the package instead.Â
When you saw your reflection in the mirror you knew then and there you could not let this dress sit away in a closet to be eaten by moths. This dress deserved to be worn. And even though the very thought of it made you sick with nervousness, it deserved to be worn at a ball.Â
â
âI cannot tell you how happy I am that youâve decided to come,â Georgiana linked your arm with hers once you entered Pemberleyâs ballroom.Â
âIt would have been foolish of me to stay in my room with a dress like this,â you looked down at yourself, still unable to believe you were wearing it.Â
One of the maids had helped you with your hair, it was in a different style than what you normally wore day to day, but she had done such an amazing job with it you figured it would be hard for people to figure out you didnât really belong.
Georgiana was your saving grace for a while, helping you start conversations with others and introducing you to their guests, but eventually â just like all good things coming to an end â she was pulled away by one of her friends and you were on your own.Â
You poured yourself a glass of punch and stood off in a corner, observing everything that was appening in front of you.Â
Georgiana was now dancing with the others and you realized that the whole night you hadnât caught a glimpse of Mr. Darcy. Your eyes scanned the room for him, but there were so many new faces it was almost becoming dizzying looking through them all.Â
âI see youâve taken my approach to the ball,âÂ
You jumped at the sound of his voice so near making you spill your punch and staining your new dress.Â
âMr. Darcy,â you gasped. âI hope after this encounter you come to realize how easily I am frightened,âÂ
âAgain, I apologize. It wasnât my intention to scare you,â he was sincere, but there was a hint of a chuckle in his voice.Â
âIâm sure it wasnât,â you took a deep breath and set down your drink, wiping your hands on a napkin and turning to give him your full attention. âI must say Iâm surprised to see you on the sidelines.âÂ
âI believe Georgiana was ever so kind in mentioning that I detest small talk,â he reminded you.Â
âAnd dancing?âÂ
âIt depends,â he looked straight ahead, his eyes finding Georgianaâs in the crowd.Â
âOn?â you urged him to continue.Â
âWho Iâm dancing with.âÂ
You looked at him thoughtfully before remembering the stain on your dress and you knew there would be no way you could remove it with a little scrub of water alone.Â
âIâm afraid youâll have to excuse me, Mr. Darcy,â you sighed. âIt is unfortunately not acceptable to dance in a punch stained dress.âÂ
âOf course,â he nodded. âAlthough, Miss (L/N),âÂ
You turned your head back and looked up at him.Â
âYes?âÂ
âI would be very grateful if you would allow me to accompany you.âÂ
âAccompany me?â you confirmed. âTo remove the stain from my dress?â
âYes⊠or to perhaps mysteriously disappear from my own ball and not return,â he offered and you quickly lifted a hand to cover your mouth and stifle a laugh which finally revealed to you Mr. Darcyâs smile and what a beautiful sight it was.Â
âI would be happy for you to accompany me Mr. Darcy,â you nodded and waited a moment for him to catch up the few extra steps to be at the same pace as you while you walked out of the ballroom and towards the bedrooms.Â
You could still hear the music faintly in the halls and you admired the peacefulness of it all.Â
âDoes it ever feel too big?â you asked.Â
âPardon?âÂ
âPemberley. Does it ever feel like itâs too big?â you asked him.Â
He took a quiet moment of reflection and you patiently awaited his answer.Â
âItâs all Iâve ever known,â he admitted. âIâm not sure what smaller would look like.âÂ
âItâs more about what it feels like,â you expressed. âIncluding my mother and father there were nine of us at home while I was growing up,â you began to explain. âOur home was not as small compared to a lot of the others around us, but in contrast to Pemberley it seems miniscule. When I wanted to get away from everyone I would have to leave the house, go take a walk in the field. Here I can just go to my room and Iâll be left alone,âÂ
âDo you miss your home?â Mr. Darcy asked. âSurely you wouldnât stay there forever.âÂ
You looked at him curiously and he clarified,Â
âWhat I mean is a woman such as yourself will eventually get married, perhaps move away.âÂ
âI do miss home sometimes, but itâs mostly my family. There is something about the quiet here, itâs so serene.â you clasped your hands together to stop them from swinging at your side.Â
There was another spell of comfortable silence before it was broken again by Mr. Darcy.Â
âMiss (L/N), if we stopped by my office I may have something that can help remove the stain from your dress,âÂ
âYou do?âÂ
âWhen I was younger I had an awful habit of spilling tea on my white shirts so the maids started to give me something so I could get them cleaned faster,â he explained. âI-Iâm not sure if it will work, but it might prove to be useful.âÂ
âPerhaps you should go grab it while I change out of this dress and into another?â you suggested. âYou can meet me at my room.âÂ
Mr. Darcy nodded and quickly took the turn to his office while you hurried your pace to the end of the hall where your bedroom was.Â
As quickly as you could, without damaging the dress, you removed it and laid it on your bed before picking out the nicest clothes you had out of your own belongings, but it came nowhere near even the simplest dress at the ball.
A couple moments after you had gotten dressed there was a knock on your door and you grabbed the dress and opened it.Â
âWe may need an area with better light,â you looked at your dark room only lit by a small candle.Â
âBring the candle, if we take it to one of the balconies it should give us enough to work with.âÂ
You nodded and did what he suggested before following him to one of the balconies in question.Â
Mr. Darcy held out his hand for your dress and you gave it to him seeing the jar he held in his opposite hand.Â
He hung the dress along the balconyâs ledge and opened the jar, pouring some of its contents on the stain.Â
âVinegar?â you asked.Â
âAnd lemon juice,â he nodded after placing the jar down on the ground and scrubbing the affected spot.Â
âMr. Darcy, if youâd like I can take care of it,â you reached out and offered to take the dress off his hands.Â
âI-,â he stopped himself as if he was unsure how to word what he wanted to say. âIt would mean a great deal if you allowed me to do this for you, Miss (L/N),âÂ
You nodded your head and retracted your hands, holding them against your stomach, watching as he took extra care until, by the warm light of the candle, the stain was almost completely removed.Â
âThank you,â you said while taking the dress carefully back in your own hands, folding it and placing it on a table inside before coming back out.Â
You could hear the music clearly coming from the ballroom, you suspected the windows were open and the sound was travelling. You thought it was a shame you didnât get to dance, but that was partially your own fault, if you werenât hidden off in the corner perhaps someone would have asked you.Â
âMiss (L/N), I know it is just the two of us, but if I noticed correctly you did not dance tonight,âÂ
âI was just thinking about that myself,â you nodded.Â
âIf you would do me the honour of sharing a dance Iâm sure we can change that,â he offered his hand. The music was slower, not something one would typically dance to, but maybe Mr. Darcy knew a different style of dance than that which you were familiar with.Â
You cautiously took his hand and he brought you close to himself. You placed your other hand on his shoulder while he placed his just above your waist.Â
âHave you ever waltzed before?â he asked.Â
âNot that I can remember,â your voice was a whisper unable to comprehend how close you were.Â
âItâs very simple,â he explained softly, âItâs three steps and you just follow my lead-yes like that,âÂ
You kept watch on your feet until you got a hang of the movements, allowing yourself to look up and see Mr. Darcy staring right back at you.Â
You felt like you couldnât blink, that if you did the whole moment would vanish.Â
âI-Iâm sorry I ruined the dress you bought me,â you apologized and looked down again at your feet, any excuse to tear away from his burning eyes that you sensed were reading your very soul.Â
âNo, I should be the one to apologize for frightening you,â he said. âWith or without the dress you could fit in here, Miss (L/N),âÂ
You could feel your cheeks grow warm and you thanked him quietly for his words.Â
The music came to a slow close and your movements stopped with it. You stood a moment, in that same waltzing position like you were waiting for another song to start so you could continue, but it didnât. At least not one you could waltz to.Â
You let go of Mr. Darcyâs hand and you were about to let your hand drop from his shoulder when you noticed a stray curl had fallen on his forehead, and out of instinct â perhaps from years of caring for your younger sisters or maybe even once or twice with Georgiana â you moved it out of the way, only realizing what you had done when it was too late.Â
âOh my-I-I donât know what came over me,â you quickly stepped away. âIâm so so sorry Mr. Darcy. I should-I think I should take my leave,âÂ
Your movements were almost frantic as you quickly brushed past him and stepped back into Pemberley, grabbing the dress on the table and rushing to your room, overwrought with embarrassment.Â
As if dancing with him so closely wasnât enough, you scolded yourself behind closed doors, angrily lighting a spare candle and sitting down on the chair in front of the vanity.Â
You looked out on yourself, a simple woman, from humble beginnings, desperately wanting something that could never be yours.Â
â
â(Y/N), I am absolutely utterly restless, must we continue this lesson immediately?â Georgiana asked you as she looked down in dismay at her French grammar assignment.Â
âI suppose not,â you hummed. âWould you like to go for a short walk perhaps? We can both get some fresh air and come back with a clear mind able to conjugate verbs,âÂ
âThat would be amazing,â Georgiana shot up, out of her chair and was already halfway out of the room as you grabbed your things.
You linked arms with her and she eagerly led the way out of Pemberley and towards the lake.Â
You saw a figure walking from there in your direction and you squinted trying to figure out who it was, but soon became distracted by some of Georgianaâs questions.Â
She asked about the small town you came from, what it was like there, if you missed your family (the answer to that was yes, but the letter you had recently received from your father helped a little with the homesickness).Â
You smiled at her curiosity, but your smile disappeared when you looked up and were face to face with a very indecent Mr. Darcy.Â
Your eyes grew wide as you saw him in nothing but a soaking white undershirt and pants while Georgiana tried to hide a laugh.Â
âGeorgiana, Miss (L/N).â he addressed you both.Â
You hadnât spoken to Mr. Darcy â aside from light chatter at the table while you ate your meals â since the ball. You were far too embarrassed to try and converse with him after what you had done, but now here he was in front of you, hardly dressed and making your stomach flutter.
âMr. Darcy,â you nodded.Â
âShouldnât you be doing a French lesson Georgiana?â he asked his young sister.Â
âWe decided to take a break,â she explained. âWeâll get back to it soon,âÂ
âA-Are you enjoying your walk?â he asked, but his eyes were locked with yours.Â
âYes sir,â you nodded.Â
âAnd your family is in good health? They are all well? Y-Your mother, father and siblings?âÂ
âYes, from what I have last heard.â you confirmed.Â
You stood there the three of you, staring at each other for a moment before Mr. Darcy finally excused himself to go dress more appropriately.Â
After he was out of earshot Georgiana turned to you and with a quiet chuckle noted that her brother enjoyed swimming in the small lake on the property occasionally in the summer to cool off.Â
âI donât think I've seen him quite so flustered before,â she said. âHeâs often so composed but I havenât seen him stutter and stumble like that.âÂ
âIâm sure he was just cold,â you lied, hoping more than anything you could quickly go back inside and forget about the incident all together.Â
â
Mr. Darcy walked down the halls of Pemberley a couple weeks after the lake incident, simply trying to go to his office, but when he heard a loud shriek come from your room his adrenaline raced and he ran there as quickly as possible, knocking on the door to see what was the matter.Â
âMiss (L/N)?â he called. âMiss (L/N), are you alright?âÂ
There was no answer so he announced that he was entering the room, worried for your safety, only to see a letter dropped at your feet while you clutched your heart.Â
âGood God,â he ran up to you, almost offering you the solace and comfort of his arms before remembering that it wouldnât be appropriate. âWhat happened?âÂ
âI-I-,â you gagged and covered your mouth. âI think Iâm going to be sick!âÂ
Tears were streaming down your face and your heart was racing far faster than it should have been, you wanted to tell Mr. Darcy the terrible news you had received. What made you cry in horror, and withered your very soul, but you felt dizzy, your dress far too constricting and making it harder for you to breathe.
â(Y/N), you must let me call someone, a doctor, you are unwell,âÂ
You shook your head, but not as a sign of refusal, you werenât even aware of what was happening anymore, everything was becoming fuzzy before your knees buckled and it went black.Â
You were lucky Mr. Darcy was right next to you as he caught you before you fell and quickly carried you to your bed, laying you down before rushing to the hallway and calling for help.Â
Georgiana was closest and she came running down the halls wondering what her brother needed.Â
âGeorgiana, I need you to get Evangeline to call a doctor immediately and bring me a towel soaked in cold water and the smelling salts.âÂ
âWhat happened?âÂ
âIâm not sure,â he admitted. âShe read something and became distraught by it. She wasnât well enough to tell me before she fainted.âÂ
âIâll be quick,â Georgiana nodded and ran back down the hall to do the tasks her brother had requested of her.Â
Mr. Darcy headed back into the room and kneeled down next to your bed. He couldnât help but reach out to hold your hand and give it a squeeze, the worry shimmering in his eyes. He could care less about propriety at that moment.Â
He needed you to be alright, desperately, whatever the news was, when he found out he would do everything in his power to assure your comfort.Â
Georgiana came back quickly with the requested items and Mr. Darcy sat himself next to you on the bed. gently dabbing the cool towel on your forehead.Â
Georgiana placed the smelling salts under your nose only getting a slight twitch from you before Mr. Darcy told his younger sister to leave it for a moment before continuing.Â
âGeorgiana perhaps you should be at the door when the doctor arrives,â Mr. Darcy said quietly, his eyes never leaving your still frame.Â
âOf course, please do call someone if you need anything though,âÂ
âI will,â he nodded and she slipped out of the room leaving only you and Mr. Darcy.Â
He placed the cold towel on your forehead and gave it a moment before he tried the smelling salts again, this time with more luck seeing you begin to stir and wake, realizing all over again what had happened.Â
You barely even had a chance to sit up when your body erupted with sobs, your chest heaving and shoulders shaking. Mr. Darcy, again, desperately wanted to offer you comfort in an embrace but giving you any sort of added shock dissuaded him from doing so.Â
Georgiana, presumably having heard the sound, ran back into the room and fell at your feet her hand tightly grasping yours.Â
â(Y/N), what happened?â her voice was gentle but carried the pain she knew you were feeling.Â
âI-Itâs my father,â you pressed your lips together and shook your head. You couldnât bring yourself to say it, covering your mouth with your free hand.
Mr. Darcy grabbed the letter that was on the ground and with your permission skimmed its contents before passing it on to Georgiana.
âMiss (L/N), given the circumstances I believe I should escort you to your family home,â Mr. Darcy shared. âAfter the doctor has come and checked on you. Iâd like to make sure youâre in good health before I return you to them. They need you in one piece.âÂ
You nodded your head and sniffed, wiping away your tears with the sleeve of your dress.Â
âA-And Georgiana, what about h-her? Her st-studies?â
âNever mind me,â Georgiana shook her head and looked at you like you were being silly. She sat next to you on the bed and wrapped you in a tight hug. âIâll manage for a while. Go be with your family, they need you and you need them.âÂ
âI canât thank you both enough for your continued kindness,â you whispered. âEspecially at a time like this.âÂ
âOf course,â Mr. Darcy nodded.Â
Georgiana offered to help you pack a bag and you accepted it graciously while Mr. Darcy insisted you stay seated until the doctor came around, not wanting to deal with another fainting spell. It was frightening enough the first time.Â
The doctor arrived around five minutes later and assured Mr. Darcy you were alright, just greatly overwhelmed. He recommended for you to take time to rest and relax, but both you and the Darcys knew that would only come when you were back home with your family.Â
So with your bag in Mr. Darcyâs hand, you walked up to the prepared carriage. Mr. Darcy helped you inside and he followed shortly after securing your bag, taking the seat next to you, but leaving a decent amount of space between you.Â
As the carriage began to make its way off the property you stayed quiet. Watching outside of its window at the gardens passing by, thinking about how long it had been since youâd seen your father and how you wished you could have been at his side when he left this world.Â
Your eyes flicked to the empty spot next to you, noticing the way Mr. Darcyâs hand was resting next to his side. You carefully inched yours closer to his, wanting to ask for comfort, but not knowing what reaction it would bring. He was â after all â a very proper gentleman.Â
You turned your head again and watched the scenery outside when you felt the faintest brush against your hand, to be sure you looked once more and saw how Mr. Darcyâs hand was now even closer to yours, as if he was making sure it was alright.Â
You slowly stretched your fingers out slightly to him as he made the last move, placing his hand over your own and giving it a gentle squeeze as you both continued to look out of your respective windows. You didnât dare turn to look at each other.Â
When the carriage stopped in front of your home, Mr. Darcy was the one to let go of your hand, but only for a moment until he helped you out of the carriage. He told the driver he would handle your bag and after he handed it to you, you thanked him once more for his kindness.Â
âAnd not just this, Mr. Darcy,â you sniffed and wiped away a few remaining tears. âItâs not lost on me what you have done for me in the time Iâve stayed with you at Pemberley. My room, the dress, the small parcels of books youâd leave on my desk every month,â the thought of his generosity was enough to bring a small soft smile to your face.Â
And if he had the chance to do it again, Mr. Darcy knew he wouldnât change a thing.Â
âThank you for bringing a light back into Pemberley that I havenât seen in many years. Youâve done me a service just as much as you have claimed I have for you.âÂ
You gave him one last fleeting smile as a goodbye before you knocked at the door of your home, waiting for one of your siblings to let you inside.
â
It had been three weeks since you had left Pemberley and as much as you wanted it to be, it wasnât a pleasant feeling to return, knowing what was in store.Â
Once you were let in, you headed straight for Mr. Darcyâs office where Evangeline said he would be. You knocked on the door and as soon as you heard permission to come inside you entered.Â
âMr. Darcy, I need to speak with you urgently.âÂ
âMiss (L/N), I-we werenât expecting your return today. Iâll send someone immediately to prepare your room.âÂ
âThereâs no need, sir,â you bit the inside of your cheek. âIâve come here to hand in my registration.âÂ
âResignation?â Mr. Darcy was not expecting that. âI-Is this because of the passing of your father?âÂ
âIn part,â you nodded. âIâve been given time to reflect on the matter and I have now realized that during my time here there have been many boundaries of which I have crossed,â you continued to explain. âThis has nothing to do with either your or Georgiana, this is completely my own mistake and I wish to own up to it.âÂ
Mr. Darcy was speechless, he wanted to argue with you, tell you how foolish you were being and that nothing of the sort had happened, but he could see your mind was set and if this was something that would make you happy, he didnât want to be the person who got in the way.Â
âI understand your decision, and although I do not necessarily agree with it, I will not stop you,â he said quietly.Â
You pressed your lips together and nodded, âIâll go pack my things and give the news to Georgiana.â
You left his office without another word and headed to your room to begin packing.Â
After everything was complete and your belongings were in the carriage you looked around for Georgiana, finding her by the piano playing a quiet melody.Â
Her playing stopped abruptly when she noticed you were there and she ran over to give you a hug.Â
âYouâre leaving arenât you,â she mumbled quietly into your shoulder and you nodded as the young girl squeezed you tightly.Â
âIâm so sorry Georgiana,â you apologized. âPlease know that I have loved every moment I have spent with you. And I love you very dearly, as if you were one of my sisters.â
âI love you too,â she cried softly and you held her close, clutching a letter you had written for her in your hand.Â
You gently pulled away from her, only to be able to wipe her tears and place a soft kiss to her forehead.Â
âYou can come visit me anytime youâd like,â you assured her.Â
âI will. As much as I can.âÂ
You handed her the letter and she held it close to her heart.Â
âIâll see you again, I promise,â you tucked a small strand of her blond hair behind her ear and pulled her in for one last hug goodbye before leaving Pemberley and your heart behind you.Â
â
Two months laterâŠ
âFitz,âÂ
âHello, Fitz?â
âFitzwilliam Darcy,â Georgiana snapped her fingers in front of her brotherâs face and he finally blinked out of his trance.Â
âWhat is it Georgiana?â his voice almost sounded like a sigh, the past two months at Pemberley had been gloomy to say the very least.Â
âYouâre unhappy, Fitzwilliam,â she stated. âMelancholic, miserable, despondent, however you put it, it doesnât matter.âÂ
âWhy do you think that is,â he sat back in his seat, listening to his sister.Â
âBecause you miss her,â
âHer? Who is her?âÂ
â(Y/N), you miss (Y/N),â she said. âAnd do not try to deny it. Youâve been grumpy since sheâs left and all youâve done is mope about. You love her, Fitz. Which is why you should go after her because I think she loves you too,âÂ
Mr. Darcy only shook his head at his little sister, but it was more to save his own image than to disregard what she was saying, because he knew it to be the truth. At least for him it was, why would you have left if you loved him.
After lunch he sat in his office and attempted to get some work done and unfortunately his productivity was not particularly fruitful. Evangeline came in later to bring him a cup of tea and he thanked her, hoping maybe a warm drink could get him back on track. Instead, he knocked over the cup and spilled its contents on his white shirt as he cursed himself for his clumsiness.Â
He grabbed a spare shirt from his room close by and went to try and remove the stain from the dirtied one. As he pulled out his mixture of vinegar and lemon from one of his desk drawers he paused, his mind drifting back to the night of the ball.Â
He remembered holding your dress in his hands, insisting that he be the one to help remove the stain, it was so simple yet to him it felt incredibly personal, he hoped it showed that he cared. The way you danced together, slowly, close to one another, scandalous by all definitions, but how you had both become lost in each other's eyes and how you hadnât missed a beat in fixing an unruly curl that had fallen onto his forehead.Â
Upon a moment of reflection, he realized that perhaps his reading of your behaviour had been wrong, that maybe everything you had done, even leaving, youâd done because of him.Â
He didnât want to inflate his own ego, but there was only one way he would be able to get it out of his mind and that was to ask. The worst that could come of it is things would stay the same. Mr. Darcy would be alone while the woman he loved moved on with her life. But if there was even an inkling of a possibility, he wanted to take a chance.Â
He left his office in haste and asked the driver to prepare the carriage for him. He informed Georgiana that he was going out and that hopefully he would return by nightfall.Â
The carriage ride seemed to take forever and Mr. Darcy waited impatiently for them to arrive at your home. He knew this was an unannounced visit and it was as rude as one could be, but he had to know, he could not wait even another second.Â
After he knocked on your door, he had half a mind to leave, to abandon this foolish pursuit completely, but before he could give it another momentâs through the door swung open.Â
You had to blink a couple times to make sure you were seeing things right. You carried your little brother on your waist and he had his head tucked into your neck, not wanting to expose himself to the stranger in front of him.Â
To Mr. Darcy you had never looked more beautiful.Â
âI-I do apologize, I realize how rude it is of me to come unannounced.âÂ
âYes, quite so,â you nodded, still shocked by his presence.Â
â(N/N) who is it?â one of your younger sisters ran to the door to come get a look at their visitor.Â
âIris,â you hissed quietly. âGo back inside.âÂ
â(Y/N), be nice to your sister,â your mother came to join the three of you by the door all staring at Mr. Darcy. âSir, you must accept my apology for my daughterâs apparent lack of manners. May I ask who you are?âÂ
âThis is Mr. Darcy, mother, my former employer,â you introduced.Â
âThen what is he doing standing outside, please come in.âÂ
Your mother took no hesitation in pushing you out of the way so that he could enter and by that point, the rest of your sister had gathered around to see what was happening.Â
Mr. Darcy stepped into your home and he was able to adequately see what you were describing the night of the ball. Your home was obviously much smaller than Pemberley, but comfortable enough to house you, your mother and your six siblings. He could understand how it might easily get loud and boisterous, but it gave him just that much more insight into you.Â
âMight we offer you some tea Mr. Darcy?â your mother asked and Mr. Darcy shook his head.Â
âNo thank you, but may I ask for a moment of Miss (L/N)âs time? Thereâs something I wish to discuss with her in private.âÂ
Before you even had an inch of room to answer, Julia, the sister closest in age to you, swooped in to take Peter out of your arms and pushed you in the direction of Mr. Darcy.Â
âOf course, you both can use the sitting room,â she smiled and motioned for the rest of her sisters to follow her upstairs.Â
Finding no other option, you led Mr. Darcy into the sitting room. He walked to the opposite side and when you closed the door you crossed your arms over your chest, waiting to hear what he had come all the way from Pemberley to say.Â
He stayed silent, unsure of how to string the words together and so you tried to prompt him with a question.Â
âHow is Georgiana?âÂ
âSheâs well, in good health,â he nodded.Â
âAnd Pemberley?âÂ
He opened his mouth to say something then paused.Â
âItâs not the same.âÂ
âWhy not?â you frowned.Â
âItâs not the same without you,â he finally admitted. âThe estate is always quiet, Georgiana isnât engaged in her studies, she misses you, I⊠I miss you,âÂ
âMr. Darcy-,âÂ
âPlease, allow me at least to finish and then if you wish me to leave and never come again I will respect that.âÂ
You nodded your head, signalling that you were listening and ready to hear what he had to say.Â
âWhen you left you said that it was because you had crossed boundaries and you wanted to own up to your mistakes. I didnât agree to that from that start, but if that is how you see it then I am just as complicit in crossing those boundaries. I will admit to that, but I crossed those lines becauseâŠbecauseâŠâÂ
âWhy Mr. Darcy?â you stepped closer to him, just a few inches, but it was enough to see the hurt glimmering in his eyes.Â
âBecause I had fallen in love with you. I still am in love with you. I wish for nothing more than to have you be the first face I see each morning and the last face I see each night. My heart is in agony, ever since you left us, I only wish for that pain to be soothed.âÂ
Now it was your turn to remain silent. You could feel the tears welling up in your eyes, in all your time spent with Mr. Darcy you could have never imagined that something like this could occur. He was a gentleman of high status and you were just a girl from the country.Â
âI know itâs selfish of me to ask of you to come back for this reason, but I would be beside myself if I didnât ask if you would even consider doing me the honour of becoming my wife.âÂ
âI-â your voice was caught in your throat as a couple tears escaped from your eyes. âI would gladly take that honour,â you nodded with a sniff, wiping away a few tears and walking up to him and taking his hand in yours. âAnd I will carry that honour with me as gratitude for allowing me the opportunity to marry the man I love.âÂ
Mr. Darcy gently lifted his hand to hold your face tilted towards him as you leaned forward to rest your foreheads against each other. His thumb wiped away a few more stray tears before you moved his hand to your lips, pressing a gentle kiss on his fingers.Â
âIs there any chance I may convince you to kiss me?â you asked. âIf our relationship consists of boundaries crossed we may as well continue to be consistent.âÂ
Mr. Darcy chuckled and tucked a finger under your chin, allowing his lips to meet your own in a soft kiss filled with love and admiration for one another.Â
When you pulled apart, Mr. Darcy couldnât help but hold your face in his hands, with a twinge of a smile on his lips.Â
âMy dear, I know it is customary for one to ask for the blessing of the father when getting engaged, but given the circumstances, I would like to ask your family. Would you be alright with that?âÂ
You nodded your head, and held one of his hands that was pressed against your cheek as you turned to kiss it.Â
âIâll go get them and make some tea while you talk,â you said.Â
You didnât want to let each other go, but you knew for the time being it would be necessary. When you stepped out of the room, as you had predicted your family was gathered around the door, waiting for some sort of news.Â
âMr. Darcy would like to speak to you all,â you said. âIâm going to go make some tea.â
â(N/N) what did he say?â Julia asked.
âIâm sure that will come to light soon enough,â you nodded. âGo on.â
You shooed your siblings off into the room and your mother followed closely behind with a slightly skeptical look on her face.Â
You sat and waited patiently in the kitchen with a cup of tea in your hands until when you looked up at the door you saw Mr. Darcy standing at the entrance.Â
âWell?â you asked.Â
He simply nodded his head and you couldnât help the grin that had become plastered on your face.Â
You had to contain your excitement and simply stood up to meet him and extend your hand for him to take.Â
With one look to each other and a simple nod, you were both ready for whatever would come next.
â
The sun peeked through the curtains on a clear Thursday morning, you yawned and stretched, reaching over to your side only to be met with empty covers. As soon as there was a frown on your face you saw your husband emerge from the adjoining room with two glasses of water in his hands and your expression relaxed.Â
âGood morning, Mrs. Darcy,â he said softly, placing the glasses on the table next to the bed and taking a seat next to you.Â
âGood morning, Mr. Darcy,â you yawned with a chuckle. âHave you been up long?â
He shook his head, âJust a few minutes.â
âCould you stay?â you asked while fixing a few of his tousled curls.Â
âOf course,â he nodded and leaned forward to press a kiss to your lips only to be interrupted by the sound of a soft cry coming from the room next door.Â
You were in the middle of pushing yourself up to attend to it, but a careful hand was placed on your shoulder and encouraged you to stay down.Â
âIâll get him donât worry,â he assured you and not even a minute later, Mr. Darcy walked back into the room with your son cradled in his arms. âI think he wants his mother,â he said while watching the little boy squirm.Â
âOh heâs just hungry,â you pushed yourself into a seated position and held your arms out to take the baby while Mr. Darcy came and sat next to you on the other side of the bed.Â
Just as you had predicted, the squirming immediately ceased while he was being fed and it made you chuckle.Â
âWhat is it?â Mr. Darcy asked.
âNothing, itâs just you get cranky too when youâre hungry,â you let a laugh escape while your husband shook his head with a smile.Â
âMy darling, you wound me,â he teased and you simply smiled back up at him.
âIâm sorry Fitz, what can I say? Like father like son,â you replied as he wrapped an arm around you and he used his free hand to gently stroke his sonâs head, suddenly overcome with overwhelming gratitude that he took a chance to be happy.Â

Hi. I donât have tumblr so my brother let me use his.
So I have recently started looking into the fandom side of gravity falls. Good show, easy to pirate, and lots of fun mysteries (not supporting Disney tho. from the river to the sea Palestine will be free âđ»đ”đž). And I saw that there was an AU titled âMonster fallsâ. This obviously peaked my interest because I was hyper-fixated on monsters when I was younger. Specifically selkies. So I started looking at the art more and more, hoping one of them would be a Selkie. And I noticed two things. 1. No selkies
2. Each characterâs monster kinda fits their personality in a way. Except for Mabel.
Now, everyone loves a good mermaid here and there, but Mabel just doesnât give mermaid vibes. And my brother (owner of this account I borrowed for this post) thought that she was a mermaid because of Mermando. And that canât do. Albeit, Mabel is definitely boy crazy, but her monster shouldnât be based off of a boy she had a crush on. And being a unitaur was all cool and stuff until I remembered that unicorns are kinda jerks in gf, and Mabel isnât a jerk.
So, to better decide her monster, letâs talk about her personality a bit. Mabel is shown in the show to be weird and silly, but nice. And very optimistic. The gravity falls wiki describes Mabel as âbuoyant, cheerful, bouncy, optimistic, energetic, and full of spirit.â Mabel is the most optimistic out of both sets of pines twins (at least in my opinion). Sheâs also really boy crazy.
So what kind of monster would she be? What kind of monster has these attributes. First, I must tell you about the common goat. Goats, in my opinion, are one of the best animals other than cats. They are really fucking weird, but in a funny way, and they can have family bonds for a lifetime if in the right setting. They can also be a bit silly, as can all animals. But theyâre weird and family oriented. And they can be really friendly. So why am I talking about goats?
Because Mabel Pines would be a satyr.
Itâs become so obvious to me as time went on. Mabel just gives satyr vibes. I could imagine her being her fun optimistic self, but as a satyr. Goats tend to keep family and long-term companions for life. Mabel seems to have a crush (possible long-term companion) every few episodes!!! And she loves her family to pieces. One of the main plot points of the finale was about her going home without Dipper. She would do anything for her family, and so would goats. And I havenât forgotten that Mabel loves arts and crafts. Goats are well known to have really strong metabolisms, and can eat almost anything.
Imagine how much easier Arts & Crafts would be if you could eat the project.
Not to mention, eating almost everything would have been really useful for when the mystery twins were stuck in that crate. Enough said. Thank you for listening to my tedtalk. Mabel Pines would be a satyr.

Major spoilers for Hades 2!! (I guess? Kind of? If you want to go through the game blind donât read this)
I wanted to share my thoughts I had while I watched the livestream soâŠ
OMG it looks so cool?? I am digging MelinoĂ«âs design (I have also been pronouncing her name wrong all this time whoops)
And the new characters??? I shouldâve known Hecate would be involved since MelinoĂ« is, you know, a witch and all. Can we talk about Nemesis? Omg mommy please step on me. I love her design! And we get more of Nyxâs children
Also⊠Nyx can only have twinks and butch women as her children. And Moros? I saw the white hair and knew he looked familiar (Thanatos my boy where are you)
Ok but the new gods? APOLLO!!!! And I am assuming Artemis functions like Thanatos did right? I was not expecting that voice from Hestia, but I am all for it. Hephaestus too! I didnât think the other gods that appeared before would get new designs, but hell yeah. Demeter looked so cool. I think the only one of the 12 Olympians missing is Hera right? I kinda wanna see her
And Selene? I LOVE HER DESIGN SO MUCH!!! The art in Hades never misses. (I was also not expecting Odysseus like hello). I was a huge mythology nerd as a child so I instantly recognized Arachne
Skelly! And Dora reminds me quite a bit of Dusa
Hecate being the first boss is cool af. And MelinoĂ«âs whole thing with revenge against Cronos is something I like (Cronos being the big bad? Percy Jackson much huh). I didnât think she was that much younger than Zagreus, but they were taken away just when she was a child? Thatâs cold. I am actually liking her character tho. Zagreus will always have my heart, but Iâm interested in what happens as you progress more
I am super excited for the game to come out, and I am going to not shut up about it once it does

Obey Me - Mains as Wild Cats
m.list
TW: swearing Characters: main Writer: Ahegato
Really this is just an opportunity for me to share some big kitty facts lmao
I'm called Gato for a reason y'kno?
please talk to me about cats, they're my hyperfixation and I don't get nearly enough time to talk about them :'(
LUCIFER = Jaguar
the jaguar is no doubt the fiercest big cat out there
tigers and lions may be bigger, but their bite force is significantly weaker than that of a jaguar
and the jaguar also bites through the skull rather than the throat, which is hardcore af
if the lion is king of the jungle, the jaguar is the god of the jungle
â
MAMMON = Cougar
just like mammon, the mountain lion is all meow and no bite
they're actually big cowards and would rather run away
will only fight if they get pressured and none of the bluffing managed to scare you off
known to be one of the cuddliest cats in captivity and, differently from big cats like lions and tigers, they can still purr like a cat
â
LEVIATHAN = Cheetah
cheetahs actually have crippling anxiety and often need emotional support dogs when in captivity
only built for speed and nothing else, they heavily lack in all other areas, which makes existing rather difficult for them
they often get their meals stolen from lions, leopards and hyenas, similar to how Levi feels like his brothers are stealing you from him lmao
â
SATAN = Leopard
not the biggest, not the strongest, but god damn do they get a lot of pressure from competition
leopards literally have to pull their meals up a tree just to get it to themselves
to make the above fact more crazy, the food they put in trees are usually bigger than they are
hyenas and lions often bully the smaller feline, which would probably leave them with a lot of pent up aggression towards them (similar to how satan feels about lucifer)
the only difference between leopards and cheetahs regarding that pressure is that cheetahs basically give up right away while leopards might put up more of a fight
leopards also seem to be rather hissy in captivity
â
ASMODEUS = Lion
lions arenât that much more sexual than other large kitties
BUT male lions literally has like a harem of lionesses
also have you SEEN a horny lioness before? theyâre downright slutty
also also
the lion is the only feline Iâve heard of that has âšgay sexâš with each other (and funnily enough, a male is often more gentle when mating with another male than with a female)
â
BEELZEBUB = Tiger
tigers are friendly and surprisingly familial for solitary animals
stranger tigers can in some cases share meals together and they do it without practically starting a civil war like lions do with members of their own pride
tigers like to greet each other by chuffing, and they even do this to other creatures (including humans) they like
I love tigers so much man please help
â
BELPHEGOR = Snow Leopard
neither are very social and they prefer to be by themselves
only difference is that snow leopards arenât dangerous to humans while belphegor definitely is (was)
they also prefer not to get into fights
â
DIAVOLO = Liger
yes yes I know, this is technically not a wild cat since theyâre all born in captivity
but come on. you can see the similarities, right?
first of all, ligers are fucking HUGE. like seriously, look them up
they weigh twice as much as the siberian tiger (which is the largest wild cat in the world)
â
BARBATOS = Clouded Leopard OR Jaguarundi
straight up vibes here too
they just kinda remind me of Barb for some reason??
â
SIMEON = Lynx
not at all dangerous to humans and would much rather hide or run away from a threat
theyâre more like extra feral house cats than something like a lion
theyâre smol and actually rather talkative with humans in captivity
(the ones you see on youtube that are growling or hissing are usually bobcats, which is really just a grumpy, younger cousin or sibling of the lynx)
â
LUKE = Black Footed Cat
known as the deadliest cat on the planet, with a hunting success at 60%
coincidentally also one of the smallest cats on the planet, weighing in at 1-2 kg
thatâs less than that of a domestic cat, which are usually at 4 kg
there isnât really much more that put them together, but you can see the similarities right?
an alternative could be the sand cat, but they're a bit larger
â
SOLOMON = Serval
itâs just the vibes, man
servals are very playful kitties, but they also donât let you get too close to them or they get hissy
kinda like with Solomon, as he does enjoy your company but still has a wall that keeps you from getting closer
zoomies, hissing, pouncing

Due to the overwhelming majority of positive votes on my poll, this is a small snip of my as of now unnamed destiel fic. Please please please talk to me about how I can improve or what you liked about it <3
âââ
Cas was alone. Again. His roommate had fucked off, predictably, and left him to stew alone in their half unpacked room right before his first classes of the year. Normally, heâs fine being by himself. Thrives in it, really. But after the way he left things with his family, heâs craving human contact more than ever.
His parents will tell you he âran away,â but, really, he just never told them he got accepted into KU. He just packed his bags, and left for the fall semester. He had been working jobs since he was fifteen and had saved every last cent of his pay, so he had some money to help with tuition. He also got one mean scholarship, so all he really needs are the books. But that won't stop his parents from calling him âselfishâ and âentitledâ when all he really wants is to live his life not being constantly squished into the image of the perfect son that hasnât fit him in a long ass time.
It also doesnât help that they are super religious and did not support him coming out as gay. They insisted it was a âphaseâ and âwould pass.â But Cas had known for years that he was into men. He knew it before when he picked a girl in class to âlikeâ just so he would fit in. He knew it in Senior year when Hannah, a girl in his school, invited him over to her house to study, or so he thought. She said she was going to change into something more comfortable and he figured that meant pajamas, but apparently that meant buck ass nude. He was embarrassed and, frankly, grossed out. He made a speedy exit, and avoided her for the rest of the year. His parents, Chuck in particular, kept asking him what ever happened to âthat lovely Hannah girl.â Well, now they know why they never saw her again.
Pushing away the thought of his family, he rises from his bed to get ready. He throws on a pair of worn dark wash jeans, a black shirt, and pulls a battered gray zip-up over it all. He grabs the old messenger bag he was able to snatch from his father before he left, and fills it with the books heâs going to need today.
The walk to class was pretty uneventful. It was a nice day, and Cas only got lost once. He quickly asked for directions, and was relieved that he wasnât even that far off course.
He was still pretty proud of himself when he got to the lecture hall. It was relatively full, but not so that it was hard to find a seat. He ended up picking one close to the middle next to a small redhead with glasses. They shared a polite smile before she reached her hand out for him to shake. âHey there. Iâm Charlie.â
Cas tentatively grasped her hand and gave it a firm shake. âHello, Charlie. My name is Castiel.â
âOh, thatâs so cool! I might have to steal it for my new DnD character,â she playfully shoots back.
âYes, well, you would be too late considering itâs already the name of mine.â His lips tick up in a smile as he sees her face brighten.
âDude, you should totally come over and play sometime! Iâve only got one other friend who plays, and his younger brother whoâs usually our DM.â Her eyes widen a fraction before she continues frantically, âI mean, obviously you donât have to, and this is kinda weird since we know basically nothing about each other and-â
âI would love to join you, Charlie.â He cuts off her rambling before she can talk herself out of his invite.
Her face splits into a wide grin, and sheâs beaming again. âDid we just become besties?â she asks.
âYes, I believe we did,â Cas amusedly answers.
-
The Queen: handmaiden, come quick
emergency dnd meet in my room
now!
and bring the good popcorn
-
Dean gets the text as heâs finishing his last class for today. Heâs pretty drained from all of the âintroduce yourselfâ and âget to know youâ chats that he was forced into all day. The sunâs setting, and all he really wanted was to curl up in bed and maybe watch Tombstone for the millionth time. But he loves Charlie, and he canât refuse his queen. He shoots off a text saying heâll be right there, and heads for his room to get the requested snack.
Ten minutes later, heâs standing outside Charlieâs dorm with the half cheesy, half caramel popcorn that she likes. He knocks once and is utterly unprepared for what he sees when he lets himself in.
âHey, Charles-â
He stops in his tracks as he takes in the scene. Charlie and some guy are sitting on the floor as Charlie is very animatedly ranting about something or another and the guy is just sitting there, softly but excitedly smiling at her. Upon second glance, the guy is hot. Heâs wearing a shirt that hugs his shoulders perfectly and matches his messy black curls. The guy also has a straight nose and full lips. When he looks up at Dean, heâs struck by just how blue his eyes are. Blue enough to drown in. Shut up, brain.
Their impromptu staring contest is interrupted by Charlie springing up from her spot on the floor and practically yanking him all the way inside the room. âDean,â she says, âthis is Castiel. We have English together and he mentioned he plays DnD, so I invited him over to see if we could coerce you and Sam into getting a game started.â He raises a quizzical brow and her responding look says âjust go with it.â
âUh, hey, man,â he says, transferring the nearly forgotten bag of popcorn under his left arm, reaching the other out for the guy to shake.
âHello, Dean.â And damn, if he hadn't thought this guy was hot before, he definitely thinks so now. His voice is whiskey smooth yet still has a gargling gravel quality to it. His handshake is strong, too. And just as he realizes that fact, he also recognizes that heâs held this guy's hand for a beat too long and was staring again.
He clears his throat and extracts his hand, trying to control the flush heâs feeling. Judging by the small smirk on this Castiel guyâs face, heâs failed miserably.
Turning back to Charlie, resolutely ignoring the self satisfied smile on her smug little face, he extracts the popcorn from under his arm and offers it to her with a small bow. âMâlady,â he recites.
âWhy thank you, handmaiden,â she says liltingly, and pats him on the head.
âAnything for you, my queen,â he says as he straightens.
He throws a glance back over at the guy, who is doing a comically adorable squint-tilt of confusion. He sniggers a little to himself. Where did Charlie find this guy? âSo, Cas,â he starts, âare you a sweet or salty kind of guy?â
The squint deepens until the whole look smoothes out. âWell, I prefer sweet to salty snacks, if thatâs what youâre asking. Although I do believe that opinion is almost entirely based off of my older brother sharing his sugar addiction with me.â His face turned contemplative and almost yearning.
âWell, thatâs good since that half and half crap she has me pick up is more 70-30 on carmel to cheese. Now it works out,â he grins, âyou two can split the 70 and Iâll get the 30 all to myself.â
âThatâs⊠agreeable.â
His smile widens much more than the comment earned, but he canât help it. Heâs swooning and the man only said two words. âGreat, Iâll get Sammy on the phone. Charles, why donât you and Cas set up the game?â
Sam picks up on the third ring, predictably still awake and not trying to ignore his big brother. âHey, Dean. How did your first day go?â
âAh, it was alright, Sammy. Met some people, found some classes, nothing real eventful until now.â
âUntil now? What does that mean?â He sounds equal parts concerned and cautious.
âNothing bad, you can relax. Charlie found herself a new bestie, and we were just wonderinâ if your dungeon master skills could be brought out for a quick game.â
Thereâs a large sigh on the other end of the phone before he inevitably relents. âFine. Put me on speaker, Iâll go get my notes.â
âYes, Sammy!â he shouts excitedly âThis is why I love you.â He puts his phone on speaker and flashes a thumbs up at the other two in the room who had looked up at his outburst.
âThereâs gotta be more reasons than that, jerk,â Sam replies petulantly.
âWhy donât you come over here and find out, bitch,â he throws back.
There's grumbling and shuffling on the phone, and Dean grins triumphantly, even though the comeback didn't make much sense. âOk,â Sam pauses, âam I on speaker?â
âYeah. Hi, Sam!â comes Charlieâs reply.
âHi, Char. And, uh, hi, Charlieâs new bestie?â
âHello, Sam. My name is Castiel. It is good to speak with you.â Dean could listen to Castiel read an organic chemistry textbook and never get bored.
âHello, Castiel. Itâs nice to meet a fellow nerd,â Sam jokes.
Cas laughs and if Dean likes his voice, he loves his laugh. He could bottle it up and get drunk on it each night. God, when did he turn into such a sap?
They stay on the phone with Sam through a two hour adventure that he found lying in his notes. Afterwards, itâs pretty late, but they stick around and chat for a bit. They find out some random things about Cas, like, heâs 20 (just a year younger than Dean), his favorite animal is a bee (âBut thatâs not an animal, Cas, Itâs an insect.â âAnd insects are a type of animal, Dean.â), he has one older brother, and apparently is in a band.
âNo way, dude! Thatâs so cool! What do you play?â Charlie practically bounces off of her perch on the edge of her bed in excitement.
âWell, I play guitar, but I also sing, sometimes.â He shrugs, âWeâre very flexible with who takes the lead, though. It usually comes down to who wrote the song and what they want to do with it.â He then smiles shyly, âThen again, most of the songs are mine as well, with more than a few written by my friend, Meg.â
Charlie nearly chokes on her own spit. âWait, Meg, as in Meg Masters?â
The squint-tilt is back. âYes. Megara Masters. Do you know her?â
Charlie scoffs, âKnow her? No. Know of her? Hell yes. What kind of lesbian would I be if I didn't know the hottest gay in school?â
âHey,â Dean protests, âthe hottest gay is obviously that Aaron guy.â
She reached over and gently laid her hand on his cheek, âOh, sweetie,â she said pleasantly, âyou keep telling yourself that.â She pats his cheek lightly before she withdraws her hand. The whole exchange leaves Cas more than a little confused.
The topics ebb and flow however it wants, and soon theyâre debating the merits of each Hogwarts house.
âI donât care what either of you buffoons have to say, I gotta back my girl Harmionie,â Charlie yells.
âWeâre not talking about characters, Char, Weâre talking about the house itself!â Dean yells back.
âBut if we were talking about characters,â Cas chimes, âThat would give Hufflepuff a point because of Sedric.â
âOh, yea?â Charlie snaps. âAnd whereâs Sedric now, Cas? That's right, heâs dead,â
Dea narrows his eyes, âThat was a low blow, Char.â No one disrespects Sedric and gets away with it.
Cas is about to speak, presumably to come to Deanâs aid, when his phone chimes. âOh dear,â he says.
âWhat is it, Cas?â Dean asks as nonchalantly as he can, but if the look Charlie shot at him is anything to go by, it didn't work very well.
He laughs breathily at his phone and begins tapping away, speaking distractedly as he goes. âIt looks like itâs much later than I thought, and Gabriel seems to have been trying to contact me for quite some time now.â He bites his lip thoughtfully before he starts typing again. Dean tries not to let his gaze snag on the gesture.
âIf you gotta go, man, thatâs cool,â Dean relents.
âYeah,â Charlie chimes, âwe should all probably get some sleep, anyways.â
âYes I think I might do just that,â Cas answers. Just then his phone starts buzzing in his hand. âI have to take this, but it was lovely meeting both of you, and I hope we can possibly do this again sometime?â
âOf course, dude,â Charlie answers and goes in for a hug. Cas is a bit awkward, but heâs smiling, so it canât be too bad. âWe nerds gotta stick together!â she declares.
Dean sticks his hand out for Cas to shake. Itâs firm and strong and lasts a little bit longer than a normal handshake, but Deanâs probably just imagining that. He also probably imagined when Casâ eyes seemed to flick down to his lips. He had to have imagined it. No way would this guy be interested in a sack like Dean.
Cas seems to come back to himself abruptly when his forgotten phone starts buzzing again. He answers swiftly with a sort of fond and annoyed look that belongs to most younger brothers. âGabriel, ya kak raz sobiralsya pozvonit'. Chto vam nuzhno?â He casually shoots them a wave, and closes the door on his way out.
Dean and Charlie are left staring after him in shock. Was that Russian?

im not one to usually pay attention to ships much, especially in the slenderverse fandom, but this one is genuinely super gross to me and my friends. i feel the need to talk about it â
evlex aka evan myers x alex koval.
ive seen people edit them together with romantic audios and claim its just a headcanon about alex having an "unrequited" crush on evan. the audios and themes displayed kinda make that hard to believe sometimes.
this ship is genuinely uncomfortable to see, mainly because my friend rocket and i happen to identify with the characters involved, but theres other more important reasons too.
why is this ship bad?
evans and alexs relationship shouldnt be seen as anything other than brotherly and platonic. in the most known clips of them interacting, evan is 20/21 and alex is 16/17. evan is an adult meanwhile alex is a minor.
hes also the younger brother of one of evans close friends, so that just makes it weirder imo.
i dont even want to hear anything about the age gap not being a lot, i dont care. its still wrong. this is still an adult x minor ship. that is gross.
i see people in this fandom throw around the word "proship" a lot. if you are looking for a ship that is ACTUALLY a proship and needs to be called out, its this one. this ship is pedophilic.

sae rlly js wanted rin to not rely on him for his sole motivation to play football as that doesnt really get you to be the best. so by giving rin sort of a reality check (if u can call it that) it provided rin a new inspiration to be the best - by beating his brother n vengeance basically.
rin's playstyle is rlly quite similar to sae's when not awakened and i think it's because after sae left for spain, he took over as like the highschool team captain (replacement for sae basically lol) n by doing what sae did - midfielder, controlling the field, and playing for the team. that had never developed rin's ego as his own but just as a watered down sae for the team. so when sae came back n saw that rin was following in his footsteps rather than finding what kind of player he was himself so yeah... he got a lil agitated lol.
i think the reason why sae had said "as long as ur hung up on being my brother, you'll never surpass me." (smth like that) was because he wanted rin to be unique, to succeed because of his own plays and be known as itoshi rin. he saw rin's talent from very early on n that's why he had told rin that "rin, you're incredible. play football with me" because he knew rin could achieve far in life. for the entire time that rin has played football, he's played it with sae. so when sae left, rin had a hard time actually playing football. it's like when u play videogames n u have a duo u play w frequently, when they get off the game n ur forced to play solo (especially in team games) it's hard to navigate the game w/o them as all the others in the team js can't comprehend the things u do n why u would do them. but your duo did n helped enable u to do those things + another example is when u have fun w ur duo in the game n then they hop off, suddenly the game is much more boring. (sry for the metaphor ish thing but i kinda wanted to compare it to real life events)
rin found football, without sae to help him with it, almost suffocating in a sense that he wasn't able to be enable to hit shots n score goals comfortably. so instead of developing the ego of a striker in which he play independently, he decided to become the captain that leads the team to score the victory goal rather than the star player who scores the victory goal. the highschool football team also kinda enabled it since y'know... they're side characters. after sae got like reality checked HARD in spain and came back, he had completely changed his dream n unbeknownst to rin, decided to pursue a dream of becoming a midfielder rather than a striker.
i think in the little argument they had, what rlly ticked sae off was when rin said "i'm the younger brother of the world's best striker!" it's also kinda evident in the manga as well because his eyes widened a bit. i also think this is when sae realized that rin was following in his footsteps rather then finding his own path. sae had also said in the convo "so i'll be a midfielder n you'll reach the top as a striker." sae wanted rin to pursue his own dream n reach the top through his own ambitions rather than rely on him for it. he didnt want rin to just be 'itoshi sae's younger brother second best in the world to him', he wanted 'itoshi rin, best in the world.' i also think the 1v1 he did w rin rlly just confirmed his suspicions abt rin following in his footsteps. 1v1's in a sense require more skill rather than just brain n good passes. it doesn't require teamwork. i think that shows to sae that rin hadn't evolved as a striker who plays for himself as he can't even beat sae (a midfielder) in a 1v1. - sorry if i do not know what i'm saying btw.
i also think this is why sae worked well w shidou in the u20 match because shidou was an embodiment of a striker (excluding barou lol) he had a n ego n if he did ever pass, it was for his own self benefit to score. talking abt u20, rin's flow thingy. isagi mentions it n it's kinda ironic but rin n sae's flow states r completely different. polar opposites even. i think that shows how much rin had restricted himself from being a striker when sae left as he was hung up on being second best. in the u20 match, when sae like... trash talks (idk how to call it) rin again, that's what really enabled rin to go into flow state. and i also kinda lost my flow so i dont know what i'm saying anymore.... :3. i actually think rin was ROBBED in u20 but like it's whatever now. still though, even if rin didn't score, sae was proud of him. it's evident on his face but he knew that rin still needed time to develop this new ego of his so like he decided to... say isagi was good (dick move btw hubby like srsly give rin a break). but i think it's what rin needed bc he's popping off rn in the pxg match n his ego seems more developed!!!!!!!!! also the fact that sae had went directly to rin right after the match ended (shidou doesnt count >:( cuz shidou went up to sae) plusssssss forgot to mention, rin actually held his own in the second 1v1 against sae so yeah, i think that also shows to sae that rin improved (and i like to think he would've liked to say that)
all in all, this was a rant from ur's truly bc i had finished all my work and i had nothing to do except think about my 2 pretty boys :p + agree with the post anon gave me :)

1.
Gaz huffed as he grappled over a rocky outcrop. He was glad he remembered to put on his gloves for this mission. He had previously forgotten to pack his gloves for other missions and ended up with scuffs and scratches. A hand appeared in his line of sight. He reached up to grab hold of his Captainâs open hand. The older man grunted as he helped pull the younger man over. The rest of the Task Force had just made it up as well.Â
They were on a reconnaissance mission to find different routes to an AQ compound. They also had to make note of their patrols, numbers, and any movement to and from. The known compound was hidden in a steep valley within a mountain range in the United Republic of Adal. If Gaz recalled correctly, Al Mazrah was just over 50 kilometers away from their current location.Â
The Captain was making conversation about his grown daughter that Gaz had learned about at the beginning of the Task Force. The team was in the Captainâs office when Johnny was the first to notice a framed photo of a rather pretty lady, thinking it was his girlfriend or something. A scowling Price said that she was his daughter and that she looked more like her mother than him. That he had her at a very young age and her mother was never in the picture almost immediately after her birth. Now his Captain was trying to set him up with her. His face burned at the thought of dating his Captainâs own blood. He was feeling kinda proud that he would be considered worthy enough for Priceâs daughter. Johnny was snickering at him with a grin so wide Gaz wanted to smack it right off his face. He scowled at the Scot.Â
Ghost was on point with Soap just behind him. He and the Captain were in the back watching their six. They had made it down the other side of the rocky hill they climbed up to and weâre now making their way through a dry creek bed. The bed was dry with cracks splitting the top layers of dirt. The dry flecks crunched under their boots.Â
Ghost rounded a bend and paused. âFuckinâ hell. Hold.â He raised his clenched fist.Â
Captain Price moved closer to Ghost. âWhat is it?â
âA bloody massacreâŠâ His words and the lilt in his voice made Gazâs blood run cold.Â
~~~~~
There was carnage left behind from this most obvious ambush. The two vehicles were blasted to bits, likely from an IED or smaller explosives. The Marines here put up a good fight. Dozens of empty round casings littered the sandy ground. Although some died in the blast before they could make a defense.Â
Four bodies were laid about around the vehicles. Based on their position they were fighting on two sides. Soap and Ghost began checking the bodies for any inkling as to why these Marines were here. They never received intel about another team being out in this region of Adal.Â
Gaz and Price covered them, searching along the bluffs nearby and further upstream. He stood by Soap whoâd crouched to grab something from the Marineâs pocket.Â
âOh, fuck!â Soap exclaimed. Gaz looked at him confused. Johnny help up the⊠photo⊠of a person Iâm rather revealing clothing. Or lack of clothing. Why did her face look so familiar?
Then it clicked! That was Priceâs daughter. She was much older in her semi-nude photograph but it was the same girl from the photo on Priceâs desk.Â
âI donât think Iâll be getting that date with your daughter.â Gaz let out an awkward chuckle. He was definitely not going on a date when they went back.Â
Price was confused by his words. He walked closer to the pair. âWhat do you mean, Kyle?âÂ
Soap makes sure her privacy was covered and shows it to Price. His frown was almost instant.Â
âIs that⊠that.. a um,â he swallowed hard and shook his head. âA nude photo of my baby girl?âÂ
Ghost came closer. âHmm⊠seems soâŠâ
The Captainâs body was stiff and then he turned his head down to the man that was in possession of such a photo of his not so little girl. His brow in a heavy glare. âWho the bloody hell is this bloke to have a fuckinâ nude photo of my-!â He gave the Marine a rather disrespectful kick to his side.Â
âWoah! Captain!â In the heat of the moment, trying to pull Price back before he did anything else he would regret, Gaz almost missed the soft groan that came from the body.Â
âOh meh god, heâs fuckinâ alive!â Johnny heard it too and yelled, falling to his knees to check the Marineâs pulse. ââŠItâs faint but there. He must of passed out from blood loss or pain.âÂ
Gaz looked at his shocked yet still confused Captain. âWe need to call for a medevac.â
âSoap and I will stay and complete the mission as fast as possible.â Ghost slapped his large gloved hand on Priceâs shoulder. âWeâll wrap the rest up before the helo comes and when you get back, you can handle whatever the âell is goinâ on âere.â
Price shook off his hand but agreed with what Ghost said. He called over the radio and a helicopter was inbound in 30 minutes. Gaz and Soap did what they could to help the Marine out. Wrapping him in bandages where he was shot. A bullet hit him in the right shoulder and another two in the left leg. From what Gaz could discern, the two bullets just missed his bone but he wasnât sure if any major arteries were nicked. He wasnât certain but the convoy must have been ambushed within the last 24 to 48 hours since this guy was still alive. The rest of the Marines were placed in body bags that they all carried in their packs just in case a mission went south.Â
Just in time, the helicopter arrived just down stream from the ambush site. Sand blew around them in large puffs of clouds. All the bodies, dead and alive, were loaded up. The medics on board were immediately on the Marine still alive, treating his wounds and placing and IV drip before the doctors back on base could look him over and perform surgery.Â
Price yelled into the headset he wore the moment they got on the helo. âWho is this man?â
The medic pulled out a metal chain from the Marineâs shirt. His dog tag. âHe appears to be a Gunnery Sergeant⊠Miguel Juan CortĂ©z. A-positive blood type-.â Price waved him off.Â
~~~~~
When they arrived on base, the medics took the lead and had the Gunny offloaded and halfway to the med-tents before Gaz and Price could even stand up. They both made it to the tents when the Gunny was rushed into emergency surgery. They sat outside the operating room on the old wooden benches. They creaked when they sat down.Â
Several hours passed before they heard steps rushing towards them. They looked up to see Kate Laswell speedily making her way towards them. She stopped just a foot or so in front of them.Â
âI heard down the grapevine that you brought back Miguel Juan CortĂ©z?â She rushed taking in only a short breath.Â
âYes, why?â The Captain was still upset but had time to cool off somewhat.Â
âGood! Good, actually thatâs perfect!â Laswell sighed in relief. Their raised brows in confusion alerted her to their lack of info. âHeâs important, well, very very important to the people on The Hill right now.â
âPoliticians?â Gaz cringed. Laswell looked back and forth between them.
âKyle, John⊠Gunnery Sergeant CortĂ©z is two Senatorial votes and a Presidential signature away from being a Medal of Honor recipient.â The intensity of  Laswellâs eyes showed that she wasnât messing around nor was it a lie. Both men straightened in their seats.
The Medal of Honor⊠an award so prestigious that it was rarely given to anyone. A soldier had to go above and beyond the call of duty at risk of their own life. An act of Valor.Â
Just who was this Gunny Cortéz?

any thoughts on team strq that you havenât already touched on? like their relationships with each other and oz? you talked about how theyâll play a role in volume 10 but im wondering if you have any other insight into their characters
gestures vaguely in gretchen was the spring maiden and all things must die is about how raven feels abt summers betrayal <- related to whateverâs going to happen wrt team strq in v10 and onward because imo "what exactly happened to the last spring maiden?" and "what exactly happened to gretchen rainart?" are central narrative questions on the same level of importance as "what happened to summer rose?" just less obvious because gretchen/spring isnât connected to any of the main characters the way summer isâŠ
âŠbut gretchen is hazelâs whole motivation, the last spring maidenâs death is what shattered raven, and in v8 the narrative specifically 1. informs us that salem herself personally tracked down hazel and let him kill her over and over again for HOURS before he tired himself out, and then started talking about his sister, and 2. asks why? why did she do that? why did she choose hazel, specifically? (the answer oz suggests is that hazel is just easy to manipulate, which isnât really an answer at all. how did she even know about gretchen?)
and then like. the spring maiden vanished âover a decade agoâ (so within the last 10-20 years). summer disappeared about 12 years prior to the start of v1. gretchenâs death is less concrete but 1. she and hazel were twins, 2. she died between 17-21 at the oldest, and 3. character ages are really hard to gauge but hazel seems to be in between cinder (mid 20s) and team strq (who must be at least 38 if yang was not born while they were attending beacon) which would make hazel⊠probably in his early thirties. if heâs 33 at the top of v4, then he and gretchen would have been beacon student age⊠12-16 years ago.
interesting how summerâs disappearance, the last spring maidenâs disappearance, and gretchen rainartâs mysterious death on a training mission all happened right around the same time, isnât it. đ€
shrug. neither raven nor hazel are prominent enough characters for their respective "what happened?" bereavements to be so narratively important⊠but if gretchen was spring and she died in connection to summerâs last mission? all three big questions turn out to be really the same question. it clicks together suspiciously well.
assorted miscellanea:
i think both the âpoly STRâ and infidelity angles wrt the tai/raven -> tai/summer drama are both a) pretty boring ways to interpret the known facts and b) working against the text itself. i also (with apologies to the rosebirds) remain unconvinced that summer/raven was ever⊠a thing, ravens doomed unspoken little crush on summer notwithstanding.
what DOES interest me abt that whole . mess is the turnover. i think its very unlikely that raven and tai dated through most of beacon (because of the whole "learning how to kill huntsmen" thing) and i would bet yang happened at most a year or two after the team left school. depending how long raven tried to stay thatâs like, at most a 5-6 year long relationship that ended evidently because raven felt inadequate as a wife/mother. summer being the rebound, ruby being two years younger than yang, and summer leaving when ruby was about three would similarly suggest a relationship of at most 4-5ish years, by the end of which, as we saw, summer seems to have been very well-practiced emotionally masking around tai.
taking that into consideration with⊠everything we know about yangâs childhood after summer left, the very quick rebound from raven to summer, and taiâs⊠at best, insensitivity and emotional immaturity in v4 its kinda. well ok. he acts like this NOW, in his late thirties or early forties, and still thinks the really quite mean prank he pulled on his new roommate on day 1 at seventeen is fucking hilarious, he presumably was like this in his twenties too. raven left her relationship with him feeling deeply insecure and inadequate, summer did not feel able to emotionally confide in him before she also left him, and neither womanâs relationship with him lasted more than five years. interesting.
thereâs a lot of speculation out there (mostly: summer/qrow and summer/raven secret parentage nonsense) that takes the very fast rebound and (since v9) the emotional disconnect between summer and tai in 9.10 as textual evidence for summer never having been romantically involved with tai at all, which to be blunt is an unserious and countertextual way to interpret the story, but like. gestures at raven. this happened TWICE with the same guy, back to back.
or thereâs the somehow even more off the wall take that wah poor tai got strung along in loveless relationships by these cold-hearted women :( which. hello???
anyway i want to know how summer rose feels about him with fourteen years of hindsight because from where iâm sitting, with the facts we have available, it sure does look like tai is perhaps the common denominator. shot in the dark based on his characterization in the present and the way he talks about raven now? iâd guess charming, bit of a hopeless romantic, fairweather partner who deals with conflict by blaming the other party. tbh.
as for. qrow. his relationships with tai and summer are harder to get a read on than raven (with whom he has a fairly straightforward "siblings who both feel rejected by the other and deal with it by being prickly and jabby at each other" situation going on) âcause like on the one hand qrow clearly admired summer a lot and he and tai have some⊠unspoken resentment under the surface but on the other i really donât get the impression that summer and qrow were especially close and while tai seems to have a problem with him, the opposite doesnât seem to be true.
qrowâs the one who stuck around and kept trying and wanted raven to come back, and his dedication is specifically because he felt like ozpin (not his team) gave him a place to belong. itâs. hm. between his semblance-related social aloofness and the romantic entanglements of the other three i get the impression that qrow tended to be sort of the odd one out but also the one who most wanted them all to be a real team. which i imagine fueled his devotion to ozpin.
what elseâŠ
oh the hero/monster complex with regard to summer and raven is SUPER interesting. the silver-eyed warrior and the bandit training to kill huntsmen. i thinkâthis is very tentative speculation bc itâs based mostly on fractals and why i think summer joined salemâbut i donât think summer ever particularly bought into the black and white fairytale way of looking at the world except insofar as she felt the pressure herself. we know qrow stayed because ozpin gave him a place to belong; i think raven stayed because summer treated her like a person instead of a weapon.

I never made a request before but I glad to see more love in the fandom! It is possible to have Buffaloman, Kinnikuman, Brocken Jr., Warsman relationship headcanons with a s/o whoâs a female Chojin with similar powers as Boa Hancock from One Piece or personality like Nico Robin? Iâm sorry if itâs too much, you can do one character if itâs easier for you if you like.
I havenât put a chara cap on things just yet so youâre good! And oh what an interesting combo~ Letâs see how these boys fair with such beauty and grace!
Buffaloman, Kinnikuman, Brocken Jr, Warsman x F!Chojin S/O HCs
Buffaloman
Talk about a powerhouse couple, my goodness! Buffaloman acknowledges her strength and beauty only when he wants others to know just how amazing his SO is. Heâs not the best at expressing his feelings directly to his partner at times but he dares anyone to question her ability. Because he will make it a known fact exactly how he feels about her as if that is the only fact that exists in the world.
He finds her power to be unique and impressive to witness being unleashed against her opponents. Almost taking a bit of selfish pride in her abilities. Maybe this is partly because he spars with her so he knows just how good she can be in the ring and out of it. He values that his partner is also smart as well. Sheâs not one to be easily out bested and I pray for you if you disgrace her in any way because the first person youâd have to answer to will be Buffaloman. He will not stand for anything less than respect for his partner and doesnât care who you are. There are no exceptions.
Kinnikuman
If this woman has the same power Boa does, their first meeting results in him turning to stone. Heâs weak, WEAK to her charms and looks he cannot help but fall for her on first meeting. Begs her to be his fangirl because how could she no? They would make such a gorgeous and powerful duo! Of course sheâd say yes!
Everyone who knows them is baffled why a smart and beautiful Chojin would be with someone like Kinnikuman. If asked about their relationship she most likely will give the reasoning of âhe makes me laugh and feel lovedâ because itâs true! Heâs a silly guy with a big heart and even though there are times she feels unsure of depending on him, Kinniku will be there for her when she needs him most. Heâs the type to show off and brag about how wonderful his SO is to anyone whoâd listen (and those who wonât suffer a bit). They have the âyapper and listenerâ dynamic as she happily sits and listens to him boast about his victories and make him sound so much cooler in his retelling then the actual events. She knows whatâs true and whatâs false but she lets him give his version because she adores listening to him regardless of the accuracy.
Brocken Jr.
Being on the younger, less experienced side, I feel like Brocken Jr. also ran into the unfortunate fate of getting turned to stone by his (future) SO. I feel it was a bit more involved than Kinniku, in the sense it wasnât on sight as much as simply a moment of weakness. Heâs kinda embarrassed about it to this day but is a good sport about it when his friends tease him for it. Cause who can blame him, his SO is indeed gorgeous. Outside of that incident, Brocken is very respectful and proud to be his SOâs partner. He is quick to cheer her on in the ring and first to be there if something happens. He wants to be their support, someone she can turn to when thereâs trouble or concern.
Something sweet between them that they share is a love of reading. When not training for the next battle, the two will read books and often exchange titles to see what the other thinks of the work. I can imagine they donât always like the same genres in books but enjoy the recommendations and give it a fair chance to see what their partner enjoys. Itâs sweet.
Warsman
How Warsman and his SO got together is another interesting story Iâd imagine. Heâs a lot more reserved (and shy) when it comes to getting together with a partner so I feel his SO had to make some first moves. Warsman has a lot of internal struggles he deals with and when he thinks about how strong, smart, and attractive his SO is he feels littleâŠless then. He doesnât feel she does this to him at all, he just wants her to have the most deserving partner. And sometimes he worries heâs not enough physically to deserve her. Whenever these feelings start to show, his partner is quick to course correct it. Holding his face lovingly in her hands and giving sweet, gentle promises of love and devotion to him. So many it makes his heart swell with love and adoration, âI donât deserve youâŠâ But hearing that gentle âYou do. You deserve me and all the love I can give you, if not moreâŠâ Finally those nasty doubts that plague his mind go silent. Heâs thankful and shows it through thoughtful gestures. He will do what he can to show his love and gratitude in any way he can. And sometimes it results in being protective of her over the smallest things. Heâs quick to be defensive of his partner from any negative comment from the crowd during a match or any physical harm that might come at her. He knows sheâs strong and capable but it doesnât mean she should face the world alone (she wouldnât let him do it so itâs only right he does the same for her) If she needs anything of him, she only needs to ask and itâs done.

OMG I cannot take this anymore, Iâm so tired of expressing my opinions on team black and getting backlash for it. TB supporters need to learn to not be so aggressive when it comes to defending their âInnocentâ team. Iâm not a green supporter either but I find myself sympathising more with those characters because I feel like they have reasons as to why they are what they are.
When Iâm watching the show, I find myself disliking Rhaenyra. She constantly complains about being a female but yet she never does a thing to support her cause. In the books, Iâve heard she disinherits Lady Rosby and Lady Stokesworth on account of their genders and gives everything to their younger brothers. I did read the passage on which it says this and it was said that both girls were never named heir but they were the firstborn and is it not Rhaenyraâs movement to show that women can rule?
Back to her not doing anything about it, she does things, not a lot but the stuff she does do is extremely damaging to her image yet she still acts on them impulsively; Going to the street of silk with Daemon which leads to her marriage with laenor WHICH leads to her bastard children. Had she just not gone and not interacted with Daemon, she could have picked what man she got to marry, it didnât necessarily have to be love but she could of picked one that could perform their duty and she could be friendly with. She could have done this because her father was allowing her to pick which was rare in those days and just further proves that Viseryâs would ignore the customs for her.
I truly do agree with Viserys when he mentions that Jeaharys would have disinherited her and I donât think Rhaenyra realises how lucky she is to have him as a father. She abandoned him for 6 years, knowing he was dying of an illness and only comes back to beg him to get out his bed and put himself in pain to defend her which he does because he loves her. Adding onto this, Rhaenyra expects to come back to kings landing and everyone to just follow her just because she was named heir, she didnât stay there to prove her worth or anything. She left it for the greens to manipulate and take over and she is mad that she has no allies there when sheâs the one the went into hiding. Sheâs been named heir for around 20 years at this point, most of the men that swore to her are dead and like they said in the show, most of those oaths are stale now.
The greens are definitely more politically savvy than the blacks which is how they gained so much support, had Rhaenyra stayed in the court and worked on making allies and proving her worth to the realm then maybe the Dance wouldnât have started. Her hiding away in dragon stone also definitely helped the greens to take the throne because had she been in kings landing then she could have known straight away that her father was dead and the greens would have had a harder time getting the throne, but she left it open for the taking and gets mad when it is taken.
Forgive me for all this, Iâm just so incredibly annoyed right now.
i completely agree with you, anon. some TB stans are just impossible to talk too. i usually love it when people with different opinions that mine leave comments on my posts, but i've gotten soooo many disgusting and disturbing messages calling me names, being racist, being incredible misogynistic towards alicent and just being very weird and aggressive.
idk it's very weird how personally TB stans take the criticism towards rhaenyra and daemyra. i mean, daemon gr00med and choked her - a lot of people are obvs NOT going to support this couple and find it very problematic.
i'm not a huge rhaenyra fan too . her character is kinda boring for me, she's giving me an overprivileged-rich-soccer-mom vibes. and yeah she def was not politically savvy (part of the reason i dislike her lol) and made a lot of mistakes. i think that rhaenyra is def a product of viserys's bad parenting skills. he never prepared her to rule, always justified and defended her mistakes (i mean, how are you going to grow as a person when your daddy defends everything you do no matter what?) and he gave her a false sense of security.
