I made some sort of alignment classification based on whether they're impulsive or if they plan ahead for the Batfam. Feel free to correct me (politely please, I'll cry) or to add your opinion. I'm not trying to be super canon, just based on their characters' vibes.

Bruce Wayne: 100% planner. This man could be a Bene Gesserit, plans within plans, and they always work even if they shouldn't (because DC can't have him be wrong). It's like a choose your own adventure, you follow the plan and each time something new happens that is sure to chase things up he pulls a subsection specifically for it. Senior Justice League Members just don't question him anymore no matter what. "You had a contingency for getting invaded by mind controlling ballerina spiders? Yeah, sure, tell us all about it".

Barbara Gordon: she plans around her impulses. She is self aware enough at this point to know she's a bit of a hot head. It is what it is, she's called Batman an Emo Boy's idea of Therapy enough times to his face to know she just can't help herself with some stuff. So instead of working against it she plans around it. In the end, it was her plan all along. Canary thinks she could just hold her tongue, but considering the vigilantes Oracle manages, her experience in planning for these situations is invaluable.

Dick Grayson: Impulsive, not because he can't make plans or because he isn't smart. Quite the opposite. He just has that ADHD dog in him. He would be guiding the Titans through a mission and they'd be thinking "Woah, everything is going according to his plan", meanwhile inside his head is Bear Grylls saying "Improvise, Adapt, Overcome". It's not so much that he comes up with plans on the spot but he ends up changing it along the way because he thought of something better for that specific situation. He may use B's protocols for a general structure but then trusts his instinct to come up with something better on the spot.

Cassandra Cain: Neither. She's not one to be coming up with elaborate schemes but, as much as she relies on her instinct, she's able to stop before jumping. She doesn't need to plan, she knows what works. She observes and then takes the best course of action. When Bruce goes on and on about the importance of planning she just answers "Skill issue" and leaves.

Jason Todd: impulsive planner. This is a man that makes plans, okay? He's theatre kid coded, he needs to know his little monologues by heart. The thing is, he's also very emotional and has the impulse control of a toddler in front of the cookie jar. He can't help himself, he has to punch the asshole and make the witty comeback or he will explode. The outlaws have been grilled to death on the importance of following the plan but then watch him like ten minutes later throw it out the window. They find it both endearing and annoying.

Stephanie Brown: Queen of Chaos. She can plan. She's good at it too btw, she just doesn't want to if she can avoid it. She works best when she's improvising and it drives Bruce and Tim up the walls. They just hate to see women winning. She's the best one out of all of them at turning a mistake to her advantage in a matter of seconds. It's quite impressive.

Tim Drake: Chaotic planner. Everyone is so sure Tim is a mini Bruce and to a certain extent, if you squint your eyes, then yes. But Young Just Us know the truth: his plans are extremely effective but only in the most chaotic way possible. There's the Batman plan, and there's the Red Robin plan, which is like the first one but faster and with more fire. He also has to be periodically reminded to take into account his own wellbeing when making his little schemes.

Duke Thomas: plans on the go. I don't know how else to explain it but it's like those sequences in the Sherlock movies (the ones with RDJ) where he's watching his surroundings and opponents almost in slow-mo till he puts together a plan. It's similar to Dick from the outside, but if you pay attention you can see the wheels turning in his head as he goes along. He actually stops and thinks (metaphorically, most of the time his thinking is done while he distracts enemies).

Damian Al Gul Wayne: he's a strategist, not a planner. This is an important distinction because whenever Batman or Red Robin are explaining one of their convoluted plans he feels like he's actively losing braincells. He's closer to Cassandra in the way he prefers a more direct solution. He also gets palpitations anytime Jason or Stephanie just start doing things without thinking. If he knew what Dick's thought process was he would have probably developed an anxiety disorder in his time as Dick's robin. He doesn't understand the need for such high detail planning and hates the idea of making it along the way. No, he just needs to come up with the most efficient strategy and that's all.

Itachi saved Sakura so you should not say that any uchiha would't care, also she is not useless. She saved Sasuke from another dimension during the last fight and he held her. I am not SasuSaku shipper but these two boys cared for her to some extent.

Hi, okay Itachi saved/stopped Sakura but how does it translate to him being interested in her romantically? If there was any other girl like Ino, Tenten, Hinata etc. in the same place as Sakura, Itachi would still stopped them. He did not stop her because it was Sakura, he stopped her because in Naruto world, just like in ours, women are weaker physically than men and the fight that Naruto had in that moment would be dangerous for her. It is not bad to be saved by a man because men and women need each other and it was totally normal what he did. He did it in his own delicate way because it is his personality and manner. Coming back to Uchiha caring for Sakura, why would they care about her in any romantic way if Sakura fits into every bad stereotype about women? She has selfish, shallow personality, she only thinks about her looks and boys and she is weak in every stereotypical way. Uchihas look mostly about talent, skills and personality. Being saved as a woman and even as a ninja woman is not bad because it is men's duty to protect women and children but when we look at Sakura, she is just simply pathetic. She needs protection all the time, she cries all the time, she just goes into fight without any thinking, she does not have any strategy at all. Look at the scene with Madara. She just rushed at him without even thinking, she got stabbed, could not do anything, she had to be saved by Naruto and then she was thinking about her Sasuke-kun not noticing her. It is e.g. Sakura again wanted to rush into fight and Kakashi stopped her and said to her to not go unless she has a plan and of course she has not. Everyone sees how weak and stupid she is.

Even as an adult ninja woman while fighting Shin in Gaiden, she had to be saved again. She just rushes into the fight, she punches without any thinking and then she becomes tired. This is her whole ''strategy'' and behaviour. Some will say ''but Madara noticed her mark'' and so what? It was during a War, of course he would notice something like that. It even more shows that Uchihas look at skills and even if he has seen the mark he has also seen how weak and stupid she is. If he told Tsunade, who is a great example of a great ninja woman, that she is weak then I cannot image what he thought about Sakura. Now about Sakura saving Sasuke from other dimension and he catching her. My question again, so what? Do you think that one act of doing something by her can compensate for everything that she is? Sasuke does not consider this act like absolute help from her. When he caught her it was his small way of saying thank you but then Kishi pulls this troll where Sasuke thanks her jacket for saving him. Sasuke does not even consider her help like 100% from her. In his mind it is 50/50. How romantic.

Sasuke knows what a person Sakura is and later he is harsh towards her all the time especially when she again confessed her selfish love for him. I also want to add something about her appearance because I feel that I will get an anon response for calling Sakura ugly. It is canonical that she is not pretty, sweet or cute girl in Naruto world. Sai told her that she is ugly in her face, Naruto never defended or reacted when someone insulted Sakura's looks and when a child such as Konohamaru tells her that she is not pretty then she is not. Trust me kids are brutally honest. Compare Sakura to women from Uchiha clan, she is just average. I like Sarada but she is not that pretty either and is it a coincidence that we have an average-looking Uchiha woman that is Sakura's daughter? Nothing would even change if Sakura was pretty because Sasuke and Uchihas do not give a second thought about looks when you are pathetic. I don’t know if this is canon and idc if it is or not but one of the few reasons i believe both raven and dexter had fallen for each other in the first place is because of their similar world views and how they understand each other on a Deeper level, I say this because of the instant connection and trust they had in the books.

I also say this because of their similar struggles, Dexter did not know what his destiny was which made him wonder and question what was he preparing for? I assume he most likely had running thoughts about how the system works and personal hc would explain why he’s observant.

Raven had a common issue as well, her mother went beyond her story which made Raven question what she was preparing for, She asked HEADMASTER GRIMM this question when they had their first conversation in the books but instead of him answering he pretty much just dodged the question and praised himself.

So that comes with the case where they try and look into the STORYBOOK OF LEGENDS to know what they are preparing for, i personally like this because they have the same struggles and were willing to help the other.

I also would like to note the amount of love and devotion they have for one another, The way they find strength from the other. It also doesn’t hurt how supportive and loving they are to each other i think they have pretty much everything packed up for a healthy relationship.

My absolute top ships from KumoDesu are Shiro x Ariel and Shun x Katia x Kyouya so let me just post all my main reasoning in one post. I have 100% posted some of these before in Asks because it all comes from my Headcanons/Opinions Doc. And some of these are worded a bit all over the place but it’s the thought that counts.

On Shiro x Ariel:

Shiroai/Kumoko x Ariel… is good stuff. The way Kumoko talks about women… is just not heterosexual lol. Her joking about how she’s in love with them (calling herself a kept man with D and all her convos with Ariel about confessing her love) and staring at boobs. Also the quick and brief description of men versus how she talks about women (how when she talks about how Mera’s “probably a catch” sounds so unsure and like how a Lesbain would describe what to look for in a man). There’s a lot to support this of how they care about each other. And how they really don’t want anything bad to happen to each other. The “I’ll accept no other ending besides one where the Demon Lord is smiling” is cute af.

But on the Grandmother Ariel and Granddaughter Shiro thing. So I could see this being a reason for people not wanting to Ship Ariel x Shiro. But I always felt they joke about this because in reality they are not related like that. All of Ariel’s “Children” are technically made with a cloning skill so they’re biologically the same. And the Egg Laying skill the Queen Taratects use does the same thing as well. So it’s not incest it’s clone fucking. ALSO Shiro remakes her body with her own magic plus her mind is a God’s Deep Fake of a High School Girl and an Average Japanese Spider.

On Shun x Katia x Kyouya:

“They're weird about each other” is one of my favorite Shipping reasons because it’s so true. I mean Shun and Katia are pretty solid in Canon and I would say I’m just adding Kyouya to it to make it an OT3 but also once I see it I can’t unsee it. Just the fact that all 3 of them single out their “Friendship” as something special. I don’t think Katia super had other friends in her past life (being an uncracked egg will make that hard) but Shun and Kyouya did and they never really mention it. Shun was peak NPC and was not super close but friendly to most of the guys but he NEVER mentions it until running into them again (apparently he was on a soccer team and just, never thought it was important or that big a deal). And it’s Shiro who mentions it seems like Kyouya and Shinobu were friends in their past life, Kyouya barely mentions it even after seeing him again. Just the “you're weird about each other” being a way of saying “that’s a little more than a friendship I think” basically.

I think Katia is very protective of her boys. It’s kinda obvious when she meets Shun again and then when they get in dangerous situations. She’s so scared of losing the people she cares about (I think she’s often the most aware of how different and how dangerous the fantasy world is compared to their previous lives). I think the realization Kyouya probably isn’t on their side (because of how Oka kept avoiding the topic) probably hurt her a lot, because she doesn’t want to abandon him but also is too scared about losing Shun as it is (and I feel like when she puts everything together after the fact she feels super guilty for not pressing more). It kinda seemed she really didn’t have many people she was close to in her past life and the fact that Shun (and I’m gonna Headcanon here later Kyouya) still accept her despite everything that’s “different” (cough cough egg cracked) is huge to her. I’m glad in the Novel Shun always does a very good job conveying how much he appreciates, relays on, and trusts her because god she needs it.

Shun is an Emotional Support Dumbass. And anyone who hates him (usually people who only saw his botched Anime version) can meet me in the pit. I also think his general easy going-ness probably helped both Katia and Kyouya a lot in their past lives (because it seemed like neither of them had the easiest home life’s and then they have it rough again after being reincarnated rip).

On intent vs execution:

I think an important thing to keep in mind with Headcanons/Shipping is Intent versus Execution, basically there are things the Author might not have intended but do Read a certain way. Though in Headcanon/Shipping I am not against fun and you are completely allowed to like bonkers crack (as long as you don’t mistake it for Canon or force it on others like some Fanon people do). But Two things I will say with my Two Fav Ships for Kumoko (OTP Shiroai x Ariel and OT3 Shun x Katia x Kyouya) is I feel both of them may not be intended but they do strongly Read as Canon (or at least strong basis for), to me at least anyway.

With Shiroai x Ariel I feel the Author probably just is attracted to women himself but because of this parts from both of their perspectives come off as really Lesbain.

With Shun x Katia x Kyouya I would say “they’re weird about each other (affectionate)”. It took me a while to realize but all of them (maybe not Katia as much as Shun and Kyouya) have other friends, they may not have been as close but they did have other friends. So the fact they all single their Relationship out as something special reads as Romantic/Polyamorous leaning to me. Especially because they always mention the Three of them, as a Trio.

Your laugh drew Hunter’s attention across Cid’s to where you were sitting at the high-top with Omega. He should have been focusing on Cid’s quiet threat to expose him and his squad and the fact that she was now hanging it over their heads in exchange for work, but he found that you were a much better thought to muse upon. Your head hung back for a moment as you laughed, your closed eyes reopening as they sparkled upon Omega.

She really needed someone like that in this squad, someone like you—a person who could understand her in a way Hunter and the boys simply couldn’t. But Omega wasn’t the only one who was quickly attaching herself to you.

“Hunter.” Echo’s hushed voice was the only thing that could tear Hunter’s gaze away from you and Omega. He snapped his head towards Echo, whose brow was furrowed as he gestured with his eyes to you. “Do you really think we can trust her?”

Hunter’s jaw tightened. He should have been asking himself the same thing that Echo was now, but instead, the words came as a surprise to him. “What do you mean?”

Echo let out an incredulous huff. “The first thing she did was threaten us, and we know she’s on the run from someone.” Echo crossed his arms and frowned in your direction. “And she doesn’t seem to like clones, either.”

“She’s not the only one on the run.” Hunter raised his brow. “I wouldn’t be keen on hearing other clones right now, either. After what the Empire’s done to the regs, can you blame her?”

Echo blinked a few times in surprise. He then gave Hunter a once-over through narrowed eyes. “You don’t know her, Hunter. None of us do.” Echo shook his head aimlessly. “You’re not usually this quick to trust.”

Hunter shrugged. “What I know is that she chose to help me fight when she had the choice to run.” He lowered his voice, as if you would somehow hear him. “Even with a leg that’s in really rough shape.”

Echo’s head rocked back and forth before he nodded. “That’s true.” He exhaled and relaxed his arms. “I’m not saying we shouldn’t trust her. It’s just… we’re in a delicate position right now.”

Hunter set a gloved hand on Echo’s shoulder. “I understand, and it’s nice to have someone to keep me in check.” Echo let the corners of his mouth rise in a small smile at that. “But she seems to be in a hurry, anyway, so I wouldn’t worry about it.”

“I would not be so certain.” Tech entered the conversation with his nose in his datapad. He looked up and spared a hand to adjust his goggles as he glanced at Hunter. “Birdie’s injury is not simple in the slightest. Should she continue on her own, especially without proper medical attention, it is very likely that she will have to lose her leg—or worse.”

Hunter and Echo exchanged a wide-eyed glance. Hunter’s chest squeezed tight when he heard you and Omega laughing behind him once again. “How can it be fixed, then?” Hunter looked at Tech, his expression hardened in resolve.

“Well,” Tech started tapping around his datapad, “I have already drafted a schematic for a device I can craft that will offer her the necessary treatments in small yet effective doses. That, mixed with targeted physical recovery on the leg, should expedite the healing process.” Tech’s stare met Hunter’s again. “Though it will take some time, and some additional materials, for me to craft such a device.”

“That’s a lot to offer to someone we just met.” Echo’s tone was coated in caution. Hunter couldn’t, and wouldn’t, blame him for that. “Especially when our credits and supplies are already low as it is.”

Hunter glanced over his shoulder. You were smiling and talking to Omega about something that had the young girl’s face absolutely glowing. His chest warmed as he turned back to Tech and Echo. “Let me talk to her about it, see what she thinks. She may not even want to stick around as it is.”

Hunter stepped away before he could be convinced otherwise. Wrecker took his place, and Hunter just barely caught his exasperated “What did I miss this time?” before he focused his senses on you and Omega. Your gaze caught his as he came closer, and he was bewildered by the strange nervousness it brought him. But it wasn’t a feeling he wanted to ignore or fight away.

“Sorry to interrupt.” Hunter’s voice remained warm as he set a hand on Omega’s shoulder and smiled at her. Her bright gaze flickered over to him, and she was quick to return his smile. Hunter turned back to you and nodded. “Can I speak with you in private, Birdie?”

You offered him a small smile. “Yeah, of course.” You looked down, your lips pulling tight as you focused on the wrap. Hunter offered you a hand for support, and your smile widened as you accepted it.

He couldn’t help hearing the quickening of your heartbeat as you did so, or maybe that was his own.

You slid off the stool and used Hunter for balance before nodding at him in reassurance. Hunter let you go and led you over to a corner of the room, taking a quiet yet deep breath as he processed Tech’s words through a gentler lens. He faced you again and sat across from you, inviting you to do the same. He refused to make you stand with such a bad injury.

“I talked to Tech about your injury.” Hunter cut right to the chase.

You hummed. “Sounds like you took one for the team.” Hunter couldn’t muster up an amused response to your playful words. Your shoulders straightened in newfound severity. “What did he say about it?”

Hunter fought a grimace. “It’s… not good.”

He looked down and watched his arm settle upon the small tabletop before he glanced up at you again. Your brow was knit, but you showed no other signs of dismay.

“He’s come up with a way to quicken the healing process, but it requires both time and credits, and I know you’re itching to get out of here.” He curled the hand on the table into a fist. “If you want to stay for a little while and get that treatment, we can work something out. But if you don’t, at least make sure you get proper medical attention while you’re out there.”

You blinked at him, your lips slightly parted in awe. It took you a few more moments to actually speak. “What are the odds that Tech’s wrong?”

Hunter huffed, cutting his gaze towards his brother. “Extremely low. He’s rarely, if ever, been wrong.” Hunter loosened his fist and lifted his other arm onto the table, folding his gloved hands together as he went on. “You’ve probably noticed, but we’re all enhanced clones. Research like this is literally what Tech was made for.”

You shrugged, somehow managing to smile with amusement again even after receiving such bad news. “I hadn’t noticed, actually, so thanks for filling me in.” Your expression straightened in severity again as you held your upper arms. “It’s nice of you to offer all of this.” You shook your head and looked off to the side. “I’m just not in a position to be racking up any debts, and I really can’t stay in one place for too long. I’m already overstaying my welcome as it is.”

“You wouldn’t owe us any debts.” Hunter nodded at you. “We can make a deal.” He gestured with his head to Cid’s office. “Cid wants us to work for her regularly. I’m still considering her offer, but if you can manage to help us with some of the jobs for a while, then we can offset the costs of your treatment. Plus…” 

Hunter circled his jaw and looked down for a moment, considering his words.

“I’m not trying to keep my squad in one place for too long, either. You’re not the only one who has someone gunning for them.” Hunter gave you a hint about their own dilemma, but not Omega’s. Risking his safety was a lot different than risking hers.

Your stare met his again, and Hunter was quick to note the pure surprise he saw within its depths. Your heartbeat had quickened again, and you had taken a tighter grasp on your arms, but all you could do was ask one single question. “Why are you so willing to help me?”

Hunter let out a light breath, softening his expression as he gave you another nod. “Because you helped me first.”

Your gaze flickered between his eyes as you offered him a warm smile. Hunter’s gaze shifted to Omega, who had since struck up a conversation with Wrecker at the high-top.

“And it seems like Omega really likes you. She probably would’ve gotten us to help you, anyway.” Hunter let out a fond chuckle. “She’s very convincing.”

You laughed, a soft sound that instantly drew Hunter’s gaze back to you. There was a sparkle in your eyes that was new, brightening up the small space that sat between the two of you. “Yeah, I’ve gathered that.” You exhaled a gentle breath and let the amusement fade from your expression. “Thank you, Sergeant. Truly.”

Hunter nodded, the corner of his mouth pulling up before he could stop it. “You can just call me Hunter. We don’t really do the whole formalities thing.”

You smiled again and returned his nod. “Hunter it is, then.” You leaned forward and rested your crossed arms upon the table. “It’s good to know there are people like you and your squad in this galaxy. I’ve been losing faith in that for years.”

You stood, and Hunter did the same. He assessed your balance, but you were quick to steady yourself on your good leg. You stretched out a hand towards him and nodded.

“We have a deal.”

Hunter accepted your hand and nodded once more. The motion of shaking your hand was lost in the feeling of your simple touch, which could only be described as electric. Hunter wondered if his senses were accidentally working overtime, but his lack of a migraine seemed to suggest otherwise. The sensation disappeared the moment you both pulled away, and Hunter forced himself not to dwell on it.

“I’ll round up the squad and let them know.” Hunter walked forward and rolled his shoulders, focusing himself on the task at hand instead of the sudden, dizzying array of thoughts that were popping into his mind all at once. He raised his voice for his squad to hear. “All right, listen up.”

Echo and Tech turned to look at Hunter, as did Omega and Wrecker at the high top. You were just beside Hunter, a strong presence he didn’t even have to use his enhanced senses to pick up on. Echo and Tech walked closer as Hunter continued.

“We’re not in a position to reject any opportunities to make credits right now, and Cid’s offered to give us more work.” Hunter gestured with his head to you. “Birdie’s in a similar position. We could use an extra hand with these jobs,” Hunter’s voice lowered as he subtly acknowledged Crosshair’s absence, “and in exchange for her help, we’ll be helping Birdie treat her leg. Once it’s healed, she’ll head off on her own again.”

Hunter glanced over at you. You nodded at the group, your eyes kind but your face set in determination. No one would be arguing this decision and winning, not when both you and Hunter were clearly set on it.

“Birdie’s staying?” Omega lit up, her shoulders lifting before she hopped down from her stool. “This is gonna be so fun!” She clapped her hands together and beamed in your direction.

Hunter’s own lips spread in a small smile. It was the happiest he had seen Omega ever since she saw her room on the Marauder for the first time.

That thought seemed fresh in Omega’s mind, too. “You can stay with me in my room on the Marauder, if you want.” Omega was gushing as she walked up to you. “There’s plenty of room, and…” she lowered her voice to a whisper clearly meant just for you, but was also picked up by Hunter’s senses, “you won’t have to hear Wrecker’s snoring.”

All Hunter could catch was your smile before someone grabbed his shoulder. He looked up and realized Echo had approached him again, his lips pulled tight as he urged Hunter a few steps away from you and Omega. “Hunter…”

“I know.” Hunter set his hands on his hips and let out a heavy exhale.

Echo didn’t need to say it for him to know; even Hunter himself was conflicted between whatever strange, comforting feeling you brought him and the survival instincts he had learned both as a soldier and in these past few weeks on the run.

“But we can’t just send her out there with no ship and no credits knowing something bad could happen to her.” Hunter lifted an eyebrow at Echo. “That’s not what we do.”

Echo’s gaze fell. “I agree. This is the right thing to do.” His jaw hardened as he looked at Hunter again. “But we barely have enough credits to supply ourselves as it is.”

“Yeah.” Hunter crossed his arms and lifted one hand to his chin, his gaze scanning the floor as he thought everything through. “I can try to negotiate a better rate with Cid. If she’s got an extra person working for her, she should be compensating for that, anyway.”

“In theory.” Echo huffed and gave Cid’s office an unimpressed look. “I don’t take her for the fair type.”

Hunter also frowned in that same direction. “Neither do I.” He sighed again and shrugged. “It won’t be for long. Birdie said she wants to get going soon. Apparently, she can’t stay in one place for too long.”

Echo’s gaze flashed with concern as he gave you a quick glance. “Why do you think the Empire’s after her?”

Hunter shook his head. “Don’t know.” He tightened the hand on his chin into a fist when he remembered the only clue you had given him about your pursuer: he. There was someone specific in the Empire’s ranks who was after you, and it gave Hunter a sinking feeling. “I figure the less we know, the better. Keeps us all safer that way.”

“Agreed.” Echo raised an eyebrow. “Any idea when Cid’s gonna give us our next job?”

Hunter shook his head. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she put us to work again right after getting back, but… we have no idea how this all functions yet.”

“True.” Echo nodded in Omega’s direction. “I think I’ll use this time to help her with that bow.”

Hunter hummed in agreement. “Smart choice.” He stayed where he was as he watched Echo approach Omega, setting a gentle hand on her shoulder before guiding her over to where a target was already painted onto the side of some old machine. Tech and Wrecker followed, the former no doubt excited by the fact he would get to create a brand-new stats analysis from this brief training session.

Hunter’s chest warmed at the sight of his squad, his family, but once that word came to mind, the warm feeling vanished just as quickly as it had arisen. This wasn’t his complete family, and he had no idea how the hell to bring them all back together. Not after what had happened in that hangar on Kamino.

After Kaller, Hunter couldn’t escape that feeling of failure, and he was beginning to fear he never would.

“Hunter?” The sergeant was drawn from his heavy thoughts at the sound of your voice. Your brow was raised as you gestured with your thumb over your shoulder to where the rest of the squad had gathered. “Are you joining us?”

Hunter took a deep breath and nodded, resetting himself as his arms relaxed at his sides. He stepped forward with you to join the squad, though he and you hung back closer to where Wrecker was behind Echo, Omega, and Tech. Omega was trying, but she was off to a rocky start, and it was catching the interest of the two locals who seemed to frequent Cid’s parlor.

“Has Omega always been with you?” Your tone was curious, but Hunter could easily catch its lighthearted inflection.

“No.” Hunter kept his careful eye on Omega as she wrestled with the golden weapon, despite Echo and Tech’s close reach. He just couldn’t shake the protectiveness. “She’s only been with us for a little while.”

You crossed your arms and lifted an eyebrow. “Seems like you’ve all formed a quick bond, then.”

“She’s one of us.” Hunter recalled the moment Tech informed the squad of that revelation. He couldn’t have gotten back to Kamino faster if he had tried. “Time doesn’t change that.”

Hunter could sense the warmth of your stare on him. “It’s sweet.” He returned your gaze, just barely catching the end of a once-over you had given him. The tips of Hunter’s ears began to burn. “I bet she’s thankful to have such fierce and loyal protectors in a galaxy like this.” Your eyes focused on the floor. “They’re not easy to come by.”

Hunter’s brow furrowed. The clear longing in your voice proved you had seen an ugliness of the galaxy that threatened to make Hunter sick with both disgust and rage on your behalf. “She hasn’t seen much of the galaxy yet, thankfully.” Hunter returned his stare to Omega, who was cheering as she finally hit a part of the target. “She wants to explore more of it, but�� I know what’s out there.”

You nodded in understanding. “That’s a delicate balance to strike. Not wanting to hold her back, but also wanting to keep her safe.”

Hunter circled his jaw. “Exactly.” He watched as Omega’s faith was invigorated from her successful attempt, and in a series of three shots, she managed to land another inside the painted rings. “At least we can teach her how to protect herself.”

You stayed silent for a few moments after that. Hunter glanced at you, catching a mixture of concern and severity in your gaze as he did so. You spoke again before he could question it, your voice lower than it had been before. “I may not be able to tell you much about myself, but I want you to know that I would never hurt her.” You looked at Hunter with an expression more serious than any other you had shown him yet. “Or any of you.” Your gaze cut away from him. “All I want is to run. That’s it.”

Hunter asked the question before he could bite it back. “From the Empire?”

You considered his words for a long moment. Eventually, you nodded. “In a way.” You cleared your throat and shook your head. “That’s all I can tell you. I’m sorry.” Your stare returned to his. “It’s for your own safety.”

Hunter nodded. “I understand.”

Your lips stretched in a small smile of gratitude before you focused on the squad again. You took a light breath and changed the subject. “So, it seems like you’re all named after your enhancements, but I’m lost on Echo’s.”

“That’s because Echo isn’t an enhanced clone.” Your brow shot up at that. “He was a regular clone that the Separatists tried to make into a weapon of sorts. Our squad helped to rescue him.”

“That makes more sense.” You paused, most likely doing the math in your head. “Your squad was originally just the three of you, then? You, Wrecker, and Tech?”

Hunter tensed, his temples throbbing for a moment as his inner turmoil caused every one of his delicate senses to fray. He shut his eyes and let out a breath he hoped was steady as he attempted to calm himself. “There were four.”

He reopened his eyes, catching your sympathetic yet curious glance. The question you no doubt longed to ask him sat between you, but it was a line neither of you were willing to cross yet. Instead, you both focused back on Omega, who was beginning to lean even heavier on Echo’s encouragement to keep herself from giving up completely.

“Hey, Birdie.” Wrecker grinned at you as he gently jostled your shoulder on the side opposite from where Hunter stood. “Tech told me you’re gonna need some physical training for your leg, and he put me in charge of it.” Wrecker clapped his hands together over his chestplate. “Are ya’ ready?”

Hunter watched as your face began to light up. “Only if you make it a real challenge.”

Wrecker chuckled and nudged your shoulder again. “Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!”

Hunter looked between the two of you, and his lips instinctively pulled up in a smile. It hadn’t been long, but you had already shed your uncertainty for a sweet kind of comfort that was bringing you closer to everyone in the squad. You were fitting right in with the squad.

Before Hunter could dwell more on that thought, Cid made her approach, her footsteps catching Hunter’s attention well before she had arrived. He cut his gaze at her, straightening his posture and tightening his jaw as she announced her presence. “Glad you’re all in one place.” Cid set her hands on her hips, clearly pleased by whatever gathering she was interrupting. “I’ve got another job for ya’.”

Hunter furrowed his brow at her. “I haven’t told you whether or not we’re working for you.” Even if they had decided to work for Cid for a time, Hunter wasn’t a fan of her assuming the answer.

“Well, let me decide for you, Bandana.” Hunter rolled his eyes at the nickname. “You are.” Cid peered around the group. “I’m assuming you all know what a tactical droid is?”

The squad stayed quiet, including you. Hunter could sense Tech shifting his weight between his feet, fighting the urge to speak.

Cid raised her brow. “They’re—.”

Hunter grunted as Tech pushed past him. “The Separatists’ strategic—.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Cid held her hands up at Tech. “This is my briefing, Goggles.” She kept a single eyebrow raised. “Relax.”

Tech’s chest rose with a breath before he ultimately deflated. Hunter set a hand on Tech’s shoulder as he adjusted his goggles.

“They’re the brains of the Separatists’ droid army—or, at least, they were.” Cid shoved Wrecker, who had been leaning against a nearby holotable. His proximity to you meant that she had knocked his momentum right into you, but Hunter was there to catch you by the elbow, just like he had on the Marauder. You looked at him with a grateful smile, one that gave him pause.

Of course, it would be in this split second moment that Hunter would let himself truly relish in your beauty in the way he had the first time he saw you in the Zygerrian camp. There was just something about being this close, about having his sensitive sense of touch on you, that made him forget where and who he was for the time being.

But the moment vanished in a mere second’s time, as Hunter let you go as soon as you gave him a nod of reassurance. Whatever Cid was going to say, he would have to listen. He didn’t get the luxury of zoning out during a briefing. He never had.

“I’ve got a tip on a fully-intact tactical droid head in a factory on Corellia,” Cid went on, pulling up a holodiagram of a tactical droid. “I need it in prime condition. You hear that? Prime.” Cid wagged a single finger in warning. “No damage.”

“Corellia?” Hunter shook his head. “That’s too close to the Core for my liking. We’re trying to lay low.”

“Then it’s a good thing I didn’t ask what you like.” Cid shut off the holotable and tossed a chit towards Hunter. He recovered from his shock just in time to catch it. “I need this one done stat, so I expect to see you back here in no more than a few days.”

Her gaze settled on Omega, and she stepped forward to take the golden bow from her hands. Hunter’s hands tightened into fists, with one nearly threatening to snap the chit he still held against his palm.

“And the reason you keep missing, kid, is because of your flimsy noodle arms.” Cid lifted the bow and fired off three shots, all of which hit the target’s bullseye. She all but shoved the bow back into Omega’s arms. “Now get going!”

Cid was about to leave when her yellow eyes caught one more person. Her gaze glittered in curiosity.

“And make sure your new friend here knows all my rules.”

With that, Cid turned her back on them, stalking off towards her office once again. Everyone turned to face Hunter, and he let out a light breath before nodding. “You heard her. Let’s get going.”

Ranking AoS ships (canon & non-canon) bc I can:

FitzSimmons. If you don't have this as your top, I DON'T TRUST YOU. They are the blueprint, the very epitome of romance. If someone doesn't dive through a space rock to reach me on another planet, I don't want them

Dousy. Ik some people much prefer Sousa and Peggy, and they have a great relationship, but I don't know, I just like Dousy more. Maybe bc I want Daisy to be in a healthy relationship for once? But for only appearing in around half the episodes of s7, they don't feel rushed, and Chloe and Enver have great chemistry. They're so sweet together, I can't say much else other than I love them

Skimmons. Okay okay ik what a lot of people are gonna say, but I just think they're wonderful together. I've drifted a bit from shipping this, I do see the sisters aspect of them (I don't see them as sisters and romantically at the same time, that is WEIRD), but I still have a small soft spot for it. I think it's mostly Chloe and Elizabeth's love for the ship that sells it

Philinda. Tbh this and Skimmons could be switched, they're very close in my brain. While I don't necessarily feel too bad about them splitting up in s7, I like both the platonic and romantic versions of them, I think they were really great. They so obviously love each other, and what more can I say to that?

Huntingbird. 100% compatible 50% of the time, as Hunter puts it. I don't believe this to be the healthiest of AoS relationships, but not everything has to be perfect all the time. One moment they could be making jabs at one another, the next they're making out. Who knows? Their moments are a fun time either way

MackElena. I think what this ship needs is more time. Compared to the other relationships, MackElena doesn't get to share the screen all that much. I do love how they learn from one another, and they've always given me a kind of comforting type of vibe. They're just cute together

Simmorse. This feels like a relatively newer ship in the fandom, and I am all for it. I don't ship it massively, but I 100% see the potential, I think it's very easy to see that Jemma was crushing on Bobbi a couple times

QuakeRider. Just like Simmorse, I do see it, but I've never really been a big fan of it. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it has great vibes, I love the rogue x rogue type ship, I just don't ship it that much. I personally see them closer to older brother, younger sister type of dynamic. But I do see the potential

Staticquake. HEAR ME OUT OKAY? I used to like Staticquake a lot, but on my rewatches I see myself getting farther and farther away from it. It's not that they don't have good chemistry or that I don't think they're really in love, oh no, they have all of it, it's just not the best relationship for Daisy. There are more than a few moments where they're arguing, majority of the time Lincoln being in the wrong, and later Daisy apologizing for it? It always struck me as odd. I also feel like resolved too many issues behind the scenes, relying on exposition to make the audience believe they had gone further in their relationship

DekeDaisy. Idk if they have an actual ship name, so I'm going with this one for now. It's just wayyy too one-sided and doesn't seem like it would work anyway. Daisy was not in the right frame of mind for a relationship, and she seemed relatively blind to Deke's advances. Also considering that Deke sold her to the Kree earlier... yeah, it was never gonna work

Skyeward. It might get up one spot for the Framework version of them, but as it stands, the real life version of them is AWFUL. Ward lied to Skye on almost everything, hurt her, hurt her loved ones, kidnapped her, became obsessed with her, and countless other things I can't remember rn. They're so toxic and if you ship them (not Framework or pre-betrayal), I have genuine concern in your love life

This is a JJK post, so sorry to all the people following me for SVSSS lol

Moo, this au started as a stupid conversation about Gojo’d parents, which just done exist in canon for some reason. And I think it would be hilarious for them to also absolutely hate non-sorcerers.

They are so happy that their son is Satoru Gojo, holder of the six eyes and limitless! They are less happy at the friends he makes in high school. Oh sure, this Geto guy is already a special grade and that’s cool and all, but he doesn’t come from a family of sorcerers! He’s not good enough for their little boy! Gojo, who is in his teenage rebellion that he never leaves, is all ‘You guys just don’t understand >:( But daddy I love him 😭’

Of course, this all changes when they learn that Suguru Geto killed a whole village of non-sorcerers! Who knew he had it in him! Maybe this boy is good enough for their son after all.

And then they learn that not only has Geto become a curse user, he is also no longer together with their son!!! Unacceptable!!!

So they do what every set of parents have to do- call and nag their son about breaking up with the nice young man!

They don’t care about Gojo’s arguments, featuring things like ‘I thought you didn’t even like him!’ And ‘He murdered like 100 people???’ And the most repeated, ‘I didn’t break up with him! He broke up with me!’

“That just means you must of done something wrong!” His mother yells.

“Go and apologize, son, it will make everything easier. Trust me.” His father says.

They nag and nag at Gojo, and honestly, Gojo does really miss Geto. So he goes and finds him, since he had the Gojo Clan’s backing about bringing Geto back.

This is where it kinda falls apart lol. I can’t imagine a scenario where Geto comes back. My best guess is Gojo promises protection for the twins, and for them to be raised in the Gojo clan, around other sorcerers, but I don’t think that would do it lol

But let’s say it does! Geto still hates non sorcerers, but he’s no longer a curse user. He’s still a cult leader, but there’s nothing against being a cult leader and a sorcerer. I think it’s a really funny idea if no matter what other life path Geto takes, he always, somehow, becomes a cult leader.

Gojo still adopts the Fushiguros. His parents aren’t happy about it, but then they learn that they get to be the family of the Ten Shadows and Six eyes/Limitless? Wonderful, great, perfection. Welcome to the family, new grandson. The fact they have to act like they want Tsumiki as a granddaughter is merely trifles to pay for the look on the Zenins faces.

They also, of course, take the twins as granddaughters. And they of course have a tier list of grandkids, but if they showed it then their son won’t let them see any of them again! 😭 it’s sad, honestly lol

But they do make sure that Tsumiki is training to be a sorcerer. They do not care if she want to or not, and Tsumaki just wants the family that took her and her brother in’s approval, so she goes along with it. They get her some goggles that let her see curses, and I like to imagine she gets a bow and arrows! I think it would be neat. I also think she would be perfectly fine with being very very low ranked. She wants to be a sorcerer for the family approval, not be be a strong one.

There would be an episode about Geto disliking her, a child, and not bonding with her like he has with the other kids him and Gojo take care of. This upsets her, but she deals with it. Until Gojo is out of town on a mission, and she gets sick. But she’s not going to admit it to anyone around her!! To her supposed other guardian, who dislikes her? To her supposed grandparents, who tolerate her as long as she’s doing well? Absolutely not.

So she goes to her elementary school, and gets even sicker, and then before long the school has to call Geto to come get her. Maybe she throws up, or maybe the twins (who are around her age) snitch on her to a teacher because I would like to believe they care about her.

Geto comes, and is annoyed she didn’t just tell him that she was sick so he wouldn’t have to come out here to get her. She could have just stayed home! And they she starts crying about how she didn’t want to bother him, and she knows he doesn’t like her so she was trying to not be a bother and they she’ll stay out of the way. And Geto would realize how much of a dick he has been to a child and starts being a better parent to her.

(I need to note here, that in real life this would be a call cps moment. But this can be framed wholesome here I guess lol)

They only other joke I had here is Geto becomes the second year teacher at the school. Tsumiki and Maki (the twins went to the other school, to get away from their parents lol) would be in the same class, and they have a ‘Monkey Jar’ in the classroom, because Geto would keep making comments to Maki. Now every time he even says the word monkey, he has to put money in the jar, which the girls get at the end of the month. Tsumiki, of course, gets an allowance, and so let’s Maki have all of it.

This escalates to Maki goading Geto into saying the word to get more money. Not even just calling her one- any time he says the word. Even if he was only referring to the actual animal lol

I have this stupid idea of Geto taking the class to fight a mid range curse at an f zoo, that looks like a monkey, and he has to find new ways to describe it every time because he can’t call it the ‘monkey curse’ without Maki demanding money. And he can’t refuse because then he would be told on to Gojo, who would just be extra annoying to him as revenge lol

•I also think she's internally a very emotional and sensitive person, but due to her upbringing she doesn't know how to express herself (thats also part of why she started using drugs, it was a way of coping and also forcing her mom to give her the attention she craved her whole life);

•that being said, i think what she really needs is a girlfriend who even tough might not understand her struggles, doesn't undermind them;

•she would need a lot of reassuring, because as I've said before, I think that for her even the slightest change in attitude could make her spiral and think the other person hates her;

•I love love love her relationship with red and all I can think about is how actually sad and fucked up it truly is that the only time in her life when she had someone truly care for her in a motherly way was in prison;

•I don't remember if this is canon or not (it most probably isnt) but I feel like while in rehab the first time they took her away after luscheck ratted her out she would do crafty little art projects to district herself; I don't think she'd read much tough, especially during that time. reading usually brings you to think and she probably was looking for a way to disassociate, distracted herself from her addiction;

•I also don't think she had that much sex while in rehab (counterintuitive, I know). even tough sex is a great way of making you forget about your problems, I don't think she'd be up for it. with her situation I belive her libido dropped (shocking) so she didn't really feel the need to anyway;

Ok, so it took me a while to think this over, because there’s a lot here, and then talking it over with @demoiselledefortune I realized there’s even more than I thought! (still thinking about the genderswap jc one)

Also, poor, poor LWJ. 🙁 (LQR doesn't bear thinking about. That poor, poor man. I don't talk about LQR under the cut because it's too sad for me to contemplate.)

1) So the thing is, this isn’t a noticeably better accidental killing for WWX, because while the Lans may be less the powerhouse than the Jins, JGS will definitely try and use LXC’s death to turn against WWX. And it’s going to be stupidly easy, because LXC was a sect leader and the sworn brother of his son.

(I assume LXC was there because he was invited to JL’s 100 days ceremony and his passing there was a coincidence, while in canon he was already at Jinlintai. So maybe JZX is still in Jinlintai here, the confrontation happening earlier and thus before JZX departed; or JZX is here as well as he was in canon, and LXC was the one running late - in which case, JZX is alive and a witness and might speak up on WWX’s behalf at least to his wife and his BIL, at least to tell them that it seemed an accident. This turns out not to have much of an impact on the grand scale of things OR on JYL and JC’s understanding of what happened, bc they already trust WWX so much, but it does have an impact on JZX’s view of the world and himself. This is less about WWX than it is about politics in general and his father in specific. In that version he’s much more in-the-middle of things, much more aware of being personally dismissed. In that version there’s a chance he and JYL go live in LP.)

Besides the Jins, there’s also NMJ, who is a big fan of his sworn brothers not getting killed and of not shielding people from the consequences of their actions. Just putting it out there where we can see it. On the other hand, they’re not LXC’s most direct family. LWJ and the Lans are, so NMJ lets LWJ take point.

(There's a version of this prompt where NMJ qi-deviates when he hears about LXC's death. In that timeline should WWX get killed NHS' plans never feature bringing him back.)

2) Know for whom LXC dying instead of JZX changes things a lot, though? WQ and WN. When they decide to surrender themselves, they go to Cloud Recesses, not Jinlintai. LWJ and his sect I feel wouldn't punish WQ for LXC’s death. She wasn't there.

(WN, otoh, is very done for. There is no way GSL pulls a Jin to keep him around. He's a fierce corpse and the one who killed their sect leader at that. They execute him/lay his soul to rest. There's no further desacration of WN and that's probably the bitterest comfort WQ could hope for. WQ does try to shield WN when she realizes the Lans aren't planning on executing her, but she doesn't get that.)

WQ would easily get a promise of safety from LWJ for at least A-Yuan, probably Granny, maybe the others - on the sterner end of the scale for the adult cultivators. This is somewhat dependent on what JGS (and NMJ) are clamoring for but JGS wants the Stygian Seal more than he does the Wens and NMJ would be satisfied with the Lans supervising the fate of the Wen remnants. Besides, the most high-profile of the Wen remnants is WQ and she just surrendered herself. WN would say WWX isn’t responsible for LXC’s death, it was a freak resentful energy accident–

3) I think what LWJ does demand about WWX is... that WWX be given over to Gusu Lan. They can lock him up. And purify him of the resentful energy.

LWJ is in a frankly abysmal mental space - it’s only because his cultivation is so orthodox that he doesn't qi deviate. It’s all tearing him up, LXC’s death because of the guy LWJ has a crush on, LWJ’s want for WWX and LWJ’s wish that he could (imitate his father) bring someone back to CR and lock them up and LWJ suddenly being in the horrendous situation where he is imitating his father. The memory of the kiss is now a nightmare. It was always a mixed memory (how shameful, to lose control of himself thus - to take advantage of the one he loved - to lack even the courage to simply ask, either for the kiss, or at least for forgiveness) but now it makes him retch.

It's all twisted in the fact that LXC is dead, because of WWX. There can be nothing between LWJ and WWX now. Simply wishing there could be would be the worst betrayal.

(LWJ remembers the days of their youth, LXC’s delight and gentle teasing at LWJ’s inexplicable liking of WWX. The Water Abyss. And now LXC is dead, because of the boy he was so happy LWJ wanted for a friend. LXC always wanted LWJ to have friends, something akin to his own friendship with NMJ.)

0) (the Problem. The Problem is that I cannot see WWX staying in the Cloud Recesses if he's imprisoned there. If he wouldn't rather die at first, he will afterwards. LWJ thinks of his mother. If WWX dies LWJ would enter seclusion like his father once did. This isn’t something LWJ tells himself consciously.)

4) JC and JYL visit WWX in the Cloud Recesses while he's imprisoned there. JC hates LWJ for it, but I think he's self-aware enough to think “what if it had been Jiejie.” It’s hard to hate LWJ wholeheartedly.

5) WQ is in Cloud Recesses, too. She’ll never live outside the Cloud Recesses again, but it could have been far worse. She’s allowed time with A-Yuan (she is not in forced seclusion and neither is she A-Yuan’s mother but LWJ cannot let himself see them together, or else he starts to think of how she isn’t allowed to raise her kin herself.)

When it comes out *pretty damn early* that WWX doesn’t have a core, she’s the one who implies WZL got him.

(JC is in LWJ’s office clamoring, begging for WWX to be released into the care of YMJ in a hot minute after he finds out - which takes at least one or two visits, because no-one wrote to tell him, and it takes him asking a question about how getting WWX rid of resentful energy and not letting go when the answer’s too cagey to his taste for him to know. If it were just LWJ– but LWJ has elders. plus there’s also LXC’s sworn brothers to contend with; LWJ isn’t thinking of that, and JC will think of it later, after LWJ has refused to return WWX to YMJ.) JC is so so so angry at everyone involved - WWX for *lying to him*, why didn’t you *tell me*, I would have *helped* - WQ for hiding it from him AND not telling him when she told the Lans (to which she retorts that she isn’t exactly allowed a free correspondence. Hmph. Okay. JC allows that. WQ has negative scruples about lying to him about the core rn.) - LWJ for keeping WWX a prisoner here even though WWX is, is, WWX isn’t a cultivator anymore he’s a normal person let YMJ watch over him, let JC - even JYL for having something else in her life that she loves, that isn’t WWX locked up in another sect.

WQ is also the one who sees when WWX is seriously at risk of his life just fading away, and this time she tells JC: if WWX doesn’t get out, he will die.

The fic ends with WQ and JC breaking WWX out of the Cloud Recesses (it’s implied LWJ is looking the other way). WQ stays in CR, of course, but JC is taking WWX to Lotus Pier. There’s no plan for “later”.

I aint gonna lie, the method is hella random and changes depending on the character so next to each character I will explain my process! A lot of it is just vibes and self projection, but some have a fr fr reasons

Casey jones - I've thought this since I first watched the 2012 version as a child! I also see the 2018 version as being part Puerto Rican. The Casey Jones vibe ™ gives the super energetic cousin at a reunion

Luz Noceda - she is canonically afro-latina which is so awesome! She is confirmed Dominican which is also so awesome! The Puerto Rican headcanon comes in because in the background of s3 ep1 there is a Puerto Rican flag in the basement! I believe her dad (Manny) may have mixed Dominican + Puerto Rican

Mabel + Dipper - They remind me of me and my brother

Greg Universe - idk but I think he has a bunch of big pun tapes

Kunikida Doppo - I want him to be

Rigby - He is afro-latino. I know it. His papi is the Puerto Rican parent
