tolkien's tendency to leave women off of family trees is annoying to me not just because it's an overall trend in fantasy novels that i wish wasn't a thing (to quote arya stark, the woman is important too!) but also because i desperately need to know who celebrimbor's mom was and which elf lady made the bold yet fantastically bad decision to marry into the house of feanor.

I tried but not very hard to see what the anniversary date was, and i decided to just prepare myself for the 16th or the 18th... it was the former. so, as always, but this time truly by accident... happy belated 17th birthday Black Butler!! I truly hope this year is amazing for us.

as someone who has sabred open one (1) bottle of champagne in her life, I am taking the firm stance that dedicated Champagne Sabres spoil the fun

either use a sword (looks really cool, the whole point of the exercise in my opinion) or use like a butter knife (economical, very impressive because most people don't realize that you use the dull side of the blade anyway so they'll think "whoa, this person can slash open champagne WITH A DULL KNIFE???")

there's nothing cool about doing it with a knife that's clearly not a sword, but also not a kitchen knife that you just happen to have lying around for other purposes and casually use to show off your sabrage prowess

#also how often do you really have to sabre open champagne in your everyday life #if it's every day I think you may have a drinking problem #you're supposed to do it outdoors anyway so what you take everybody outside and you carefully take out your Special Champagne-Only Knife #and then you open it and everybody applauds politely and you take your special knife back to the cupboard for another month or so?#now a sword can serve other purposes #even if it's just there to look really cool #champagne sabres don't look cool. I looked them up. they're sad tiny baby sabres #and expensive! like just get a real sabre at that point! a decorative repro will do and probably be cheaper!
