The visual thought of ep 28 is actually. so unsettling. Arthur being lifeless, empty, with his possessed hand still twitching and moving, wildly, desperately. I’ve always kinda thought that John has some control over the movement of Arthur’s eyes, so, even though they’re dull and half-lidded, they’re still somehow panicked, darting around, absolutely horrified. That contrast of ghostly movement, blood pooled around a shell of a body, that is somehow still squirming.

“I should draw my official design for John”? Babes I don’t even think he can come up with his own design.

You’re telling me that John, an eldritch being, a fractured piece of a literal elder god, wouldn’t just … change up his form every now and then? He’s a smokey figure to me. A wisp of something almost comprehensible, but then you blink, and it’s different. Always morphing, always changing — never the same. To stay the same, to be still, to stop moving, is to be seen, to be understood. He may exist, now, solely in the confines of Arthur’s noggin’, but he used to look like ‘something’. Emphasis on the ‘thing’. No, he can’t stay the same.

The color palette, maybe, the yellow and black suits him quite well, but an actual palpable form? Goodness no; John, to me, screams something/someone who is without palp! Impalpable, if you will. He’s a little squirming bug. A black cat in a dark corner. An ink blot being shaken around on a canvas. A puddle of water. Oil. Never the same. Never, never the same.

Malevolent posting uhh I think the idea of John ‘existing’ outside of Arthur’s head as a sort of ghost/shadow that no one else can see and can’t touch anything is both mildly funny (for the expressional range) and kinda. sad.

Because all I can see is Arthur going through the wringer again and John so desperately wants to help, but all he has is a single left hand to work with. So, even though Arthur can’t feel it, and can’t see him, John, I think, would smooth back his hair — or at least pretend to do so — and hold his shoulders steady, cup his face. Trace lines over his bloodied knuckles, adjust his tie, fake-fix him up as best he can. Even though it’s futile and fake.

But maybe Arthur can sense him. Like, the hairs stand up in the spot that John is touching. It’s subtle, and maybe it’s just the wind, but there’s something … soothing about it. Calming. He grows to appreciate the tenderness of it all.
