#also i can't imagine what it was like to have that horrible book written about her in the late 90s

Note
I feel sorry for everything Priscilla has been through especially recently but my thing with her is she mostly trashed Elvis in her book, but now she constantly praises him and refers to him as the love of her life..
Now Priscilla is allowed to have mixed feelings and has a right to speak her truth and I’m not arguing Elvis was perfect, far from it. Being married to him couldn’t have been easy, but her book (which she’s backtracked a few things she’s written about him in it) is a large reason people still trash him to this day 🤷🏻‍♀️
i don't know if she intended it to come across that way, and i feel like people warp it to draw the worst possible conclusions when that was never what she meant. i also wonder a bit if she wrote it...in the wrong frame of my mind, or maybe too soon, or under some outside pressures. because, as you noted, there are things she's circled back around on and reframed. she had a co-author and she was still navigating how to publicly share with people. as a small example, i read this recently: https://www.elvispresley.com.au/priscilla/elvis-and-me-memorializing-elvis-presley.shtml "I feel much more comfortable with crowds, with people and with talking. I just want to clear up so many things that have been altered or perceived differently. I want to put the record straight from my side." this was 2017, but the book was written 32 years sooner. someone and their perspective can vastly change in three decades.
i feel like there were some fundamental differences between them - despite how dearly they loved each other - that they were so unable to breach, that she had trouble understanding for a long time. people make their relationship into this thing that it wasn't, which i imagine was also hard to deal with.
that page says, Priscilla exposes a man of exceptional vastness. he was such an expansive person, and just. the way he was trying so hard to be all things to all people, the way he put that caregiver responsibility on himself (and he definitely did this with priscilla), the way he held this almost idealistic vision of what their life could be, the way he strove to guide and get the best for people even when he did that mistakenly, it all paints this portrait of this vast and unique/unusual soul who kept giving and trying. i can see where she had mixed feelings (regarding the mm or other women or fame and lack of privacy or feeling like he wasn't present for her often enough because he was giving so much to his audiences or the struggle of his addictions and not being able to assuage that and so on). speaking for myself, it feels so easy to empathize with him, but i'd imagine being up close and personal with it, giving your life to it, would make it more difficult to wholly view until later.
people who are looking to trash him aren't going to explore that vastness, they strip him for parts, so they can never possibly understand or lend sympathy to it. i'm not excusing any of the slander that's thrown around at him or how cruelly off-base it is, nor saying either of them were blameless, but i can't fathom that she ever wanted people to weaponize her words or her life with him, and that's probably an additional reason why she's tried to be stalwart in the years since about his impact and furthering his legacy, why she does praise him as a musician and a man, and why she does call him the love of her life (which i don't doubt is true). he had his serious missteps and he had his flaws, and so did/does she, but it doesn't negate that their love was real, nor their fondness for each other even after the divorce, nor how remarkable and often wonderful he was.
i grant her a bit of grace for the fact that she had this whirlwind of a life with such tumultous emotions and then to lose him so suddenly, when they were still dear to one another, when their daughter was still so young, and then to be interrogated over and over again about him, about her lived experience. and of course my heart breaks for her in losing lisa marie, and the current situation happening regarding graceland which would all...just shatter el tbh.
idk i just had a conversation about this a few hours ago with chelsea (and am borrowing thoughts from her!), and so many elements play into what happened between them.
these excerpts are where the quote from earlier came from:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'll quote what chelsea, who has been a good sounding board for this!, said because it was insightful:
"you have to apply an innocent, nurturing gloss to his relationships and understand that if his significant others felt claustrophobic or smothered, it had mostly to do with the lack of privacy and him seeing himself as the best judge of what was best for them, sometimes wrongly but i think always sincerely trying to be helpful...there's a lot of evidence that he saw her as a little sister at times and treated her very preciously and carefully, even while trying to share his interests and life with her. they tried awfully hard to be what each other wanted and expected and that's the main thing that made them grow apart, i think...also think he was thinking about what kind of person gladys would want him to be with. priscilla reminded him of gladys, reminded him of his promises to her, and made him want to try to settle down and share his heart. he had a fairytale view of changing for someone else, and he learned very late that that wasn't possible and that it was a mistake to impose an ideal of perfect domesticity on him and priscilla, which they both did. because i think it would have been too heavy for him to acknowledge at that time that he might never "have" a normal life, so he felt like he had to kind of force it on himself...elvis wanted to be everything for his friends, but he was so weird and big that he needed more than one person to approximate what he needed back. cilla not really being very spiritual is a big thing where they were just going to have to grow in different directions and find other people."
i think cilla had to spend a significant time untangling her identity from him, and processing everything he was, and i'm sure that she has regrets that anything came across in a darker or more negative way than she meant. loving someone that much and always being a part of them, and they a part of you, and yet growing apart and knowing you cannot make it work no matter how hard you try to create that perfect picture must be so hard and demoralizing in a sense. that heavy heartache of loss and failure. then couple it with grief. i think about what (iirc) kathy westmoreland said about him, which is that the grief is never-ending in a specific way, because he's so much in the world. most of us grieve privately, and of course it never "ends," it changes, but with someone like elvis he's always there and always absent all at once. everyone who loves him - directly as a loved one or indirectly as a fan - pairs that with grief, so we're all experiencing this continual pang of sorrow. i don't necessarily want to hold her difficulty coming to terms with all of that against her (unlike, say, people who really have been out to belittle and besmirch him over the years), when i do believe the true heart of it is love. she said, "Elvis was absolutely the love of my life, and there's no sadness about it because I have my memories, and they're delicious and they're all mine," but you know there's a grief existent in it regardless.
she also said, and i think most importantly: “It’s hurtful, for a man who has given so much, to have others pick him apart. I’ll die defending him and his legacy. Because he deserves it.” i think that's her clearest truth, and the people not willing to hear it are doing her a disservice, and also an incomprehensible one to him. i do worry a lot that eventually this is going to be lost even further, which is where it's like...it falls to us to carry and defend it when we can. because he deserves it.

Every time I see or otherwise imagine a Daemon AU (a story borrowing the concept of "physical soul animals" from the "His Dark Materials" book series), I get distracted thinking about aaaaall the logistical issues and cultural changes that would happen if the world was different in this way. Especially if it's a story that's set in the modern day!
Mostly, I'm distracted by cultural changes that are, uh, let's go with "silly". Like, I think people would put in cat doors and ramps for their daemons. I think people would put their turtle daemons on hot wheel cars and let their rat daemons drive miniature cars. I think some miserable people would be unreasonably outraged by "assistive devices" for daemons and call it unnatural. I think people would post online like, "I just watched my grandma's elderly dog daemon spend ten minutes trying to climb onto the couch." I think that there would be Tumblr polls asking: "Are daemons allowed on the furniture in your house?" And some people would be like, "Absolutely not, that's disgusting," and other people would be like, "Yes?! Of course?!?!?!"
I think some people would put their daemons in outfits. I think some people would wear MATCHING outfits with their daemons. I think there would be a huge market for daemon accessories like collars and scarves. I think you could find someone who would argue to their dying breath that putting a collar on your daemon is a form of abusing yourself. I think there would be daemons who would straight up hate wearing anything, especially the daemons of young children, and shed collars immediately. I think some people would get their daemon's ears pierced.
I think people would take photos of their daemons getting stuck in stupid places. I think people would take photos of their daemons making silly expressions. I think these photos would be used as memes. I think this would be included in the "don't take photos of strangers and post them online???" arguments. I think some people would try to get animals that are the same as their daemon forms so that their daemon could have a "friend". I think the exotic pet trade in this world would be horrible, especially in relation to modelling and acting industries, and that some people and their daemons would work as "substitute daemon actors".
I think that people would judge other people based on their daemons, sure. I also think that daemons are incorporated into things like astrology and matchmaking in ways that our world can't imagine. "Oh, I only date guys with dog daemons. Guys with cat daemons are too feminine," would be a constant sexist / homophobic sitcom joke and also a real thing people would say. There would be sex books written taking daemons into account and I'm not going to get into it more than that except to say...
The furry "discourse" that must exist in a Modern Daemon AU is operating on a level that we cannot possibly fathom.
Most of this stuff is not relevant for most Daemon AUs, but I feel like when doing any kind of cultural worldbuilding, we must face the fact that many people love and hate nothing more than to sincerely and insincerely get into extensive Twitter arguments over pointless bullshit. And also, on a lighter note, that "Draw yourself and your daemon!" would be a classic Day 1 of school activity for children. Confession blogs would have people saying, "My mom and aunt and grandma all have parrot daemons, so until I was four, I genuinely thought all women had bird daemons. When I met a woman with an iguana daemon in a grocery store, I asked her what kind of bird it was supposed to be. My mom has laughingly brought it up every few weeks for the past twenty years."

love me, ever so gently
pairing: austin butler x reader
summary: you recently moved to a new apartment, making new some eccentric friends along the way. but what you didn't expect was falling in love with a stranger. a stranger you somehow couldn't stop thinking about
words: 2.1k
warnings: depictions of domestic abuse, dark themes of relationships
author's note: i made this on an extremely impulsive whim and i have never been so terrified of posting this. my anxiety of trying to make this story went from writing this for three days straight to now suddenly having multiple parts. i'm literally almost done with part III so we'll see how far this goes. hopefully you like my very first fic... i haven't written in years... ehh... and thank you in advance for reading this :3
next part
part I
"you're either incredibly talented or horribly lousy."
george stated right before you tore down the stack of books from the pile. you groaned in frustration, ignoring that thing buried right under the surface of your heart. if bookstores and libraries could make something aesthetically pleasing, then so could you. just like you were able to do a year ago.
you huffed once more before starting the process over again.
george took your silence as a precautionary warning, tentatively placing a small cup of coffee next to you, hoping maybe a little space and some caffeine couldn't hurt your pride more than he did.
"as long as you don't make a mess, it makes my job a thousand times easier," he offered you a toothy, yet slightly lopsided grin before leaving you to your uncomplicated complicated endeavors.
george circled around the remaining tables that were also still being set up for the fair at the community center. you were a regular volunteer for these events, moreso because your neighbors invited you to them in the first place. one of your neighbors being george, who hobbled right back to where you were, smiling proudly at his empty tray.
"well, my services are done."
he flashed another innocent grin before leaving you be, "make sure you get that done before cass sees you!"
"george I'm going to throw this empty tray at you."
he let out a belly laugh, even though he was as thick as a twig. he pulled you over to him, wrapping his arm around your shoulder.
"there she is!"
you rolled your eyes at him, but couldn't help a smile. you still remember when you met him for the first time.
~ ~
your first week at the new apartment building was stressful enough, splitting your belongings in each individualized box and suitcase. and somehow through all that stress, someone as joyous as george just so happened to crash right into you with all of his groceries.
and he had this distinct smell, something between a book you haven't opened in years and an old worn out knitted sweater. at the time, he greeted you like you've been friends for years, something you deeply missed when you moved away from your hometown. from everyone.
"welcome to the neighborhood!!" he screamed in your ear, forgetting his hearing aids before he left for the store. you let out a polite, yet awkward, kind of laugh, thanking him for his very enthusiastic greeting. it's funny to look back on it now, a stranger you would've never imagined becoming friends with. including everyone else you met along the way.
~ ~
evelyn and cassandra peered from the hallway behind you, coming from the kitchen. cassandra with her big box of jewelry for her stand, while evelyn followed suit.
"did george call me cass again? i hate when he calls me cass. it sounds like ass."
"because you are an ass."
cassandra shot him a quick glaring look before he started laughing again, placing her boxes down. she pointed a shaky finger at him.
"you know one of these days, i really hope i end up dying before you. i can't stand that laugh of yours." she grumbled, which made you laugh.
"can't keep a happy man down cass. you're stuck with me forever," he bellowed, leaving a messy kiss on her cheek before she swatted him away. george dramatically saluted them before hobbling away again, wanting to mingle and socialize before the fair officially opens.
cassandra gathered her things once more as she eyed your table with a sense of pride.
"you never cease to amazing me sweetie. i always love how you decorate your books."
her words swelled in your heart and that thing that was buried right under the surface dissipated, only just for a moment. and you were completely and utterly okay with that.
"thanks cassie..." your voice drifting ever so softly. like she was going to catch it in the end like she always does.
~ ~
when you met cassandra last year, you heard her voice before you saw her. you were seated at the lobby of your apartment building, waiting for a blind date that never picked you up. it was about two hours before you decided to call it and when you looked up, you saw her.
she was a bright eyed woman, her grey hair tossed behind a small pink scarf, something you've only seen worn a few times or rather only in movies. she looked at you with a look of concern. you weren't crying of course, why waste tears on some stranger right?
but you got your hopes up immensely high and someone as experienced in her years as she was, she could tell a disappointed look when she saw one.
"oh my dear, what's the matter? are you hurt?"
you shook your head no, having no energy to formally respond with a voice.
"come here love, let's bring you back home. do you live here?"
you nodded.
she waddled her way towards you, keeping you close to her. she was a tiny woman, hunched over slightly as she led you to the elevator. once you were both inside, she asked what floor you were on and pressed the appropriate button for you. her floor being the one below yours.
"sorry we have to stop at mine first..." she began and you shook her head to stop her.
"don't be. it's okay... i was heading up anyway." you finally had strength to talk again, "i should be saying sorry for keeping you from getting home."
she scoffed at your response, displaying one of the warmest smiles you've ever seen.
"sweetie, you're doing me a favor."
the elevator dinged and opened to her floor, the woman turning to walk out.
"i am?" you asked her and she nodded, standing outside the elevator doors.
"yes. because no man deserves to make someone as lovely as you this sad."
your face went from feeling defeated to utter confusion as the woman smiled again. this time knowing exactly what you were going to ask.
"i know disappointment when i see it."
and just like that, the elevator door closed.
~ ~
"how are you feeling otherwise?" cassandra asked you, momentarily glancing over at your beautiful table.
"better. only sometimes," you responded, a lump suddenly appearing in your throat. feeling as if you were half lying somewhere.
"that's okay. just remember that someone who's broken you then doesn't deserve to break you now," she gently held your cheek, looking at you as if for the first time again.
"and besides, who knows who you'll might meet today."
~ ~
cassandra's words rung in your ears, weighing heavy on a hopelessly romantic heart. being alone was easy and you weren't lying if you admitted that to anyone because it was true. that was one of the perks of moving here, along with meeting all of your new friends.
but being lonely... that was difficult. especially when the fall season would blend into the holidays. one night after the other. because everyone seemed to find their someone by the times gifts were supposed to be given. which is why you wanted to put everything into the community fair this year.
and because heartbreak anniversaries were apparently a thing on your calendar.
you glanced over at your table, the last few books lingered for awhile. some people glancing over at them, while others would pick it up just to place it back down again. you didn't really know why seeing a book not being chosen hurt a small part of you. but it did.
or maybe you knew but didn't want to face it.
soon enough, you noticed someone hovering near the entrance, like he was contemplating whether or not to let his curiousity get the best of him. it may have been a little more than an hour or so when he actually approached your table.
you quickly stood up in response, as you noticed him eyeing a few of the older books. his hands lingered on each cover, not saying a word. his hair was blonde, wavy and messy, like he'd just woken up. the rest of him was covered by a black mask.
you did notice the way his hands moved though, hesitating to pick something. shaking a bit, a shadow crossed your peripheral and you could've sworn you saw a bruise somewhere on his knuckles.
"do you need help finding anything?" your voice coming out a lot softer than you had hoped. he looked up and you felt this entire weight lift off of you. like something encapsulating you just shattered into a million pieces and suddenly you could breathe again.
his eyes were so blue, like you were swimming in this endless ocean full of life and somehow you couldn't tell the difference between the stillness of the water or the blueness of the sky.
you could see a slight smiling forming on his face before he shook his head no.
"oh well if you want anything... i really recommend any of the classics."
his eyes glimmered a bit, letting his hand linger on one of the few books he was eyeing before.
"how much is it?" his deep tone caught you by surprise as you hesitated to respond. your own voice catching in your throat.
"oh um... everything is free."
"really?"
and just like that, you noticed something switch in him, a sense of curiosity filling those calm waters.
"which ones have you read so far?"
you didn't realize it, but your eyes lit up at the question. and he noticed. a small smile forming on his face.
"oh this one is my favorite... i haven't finished it, but it was really good from where i left off," you pointed at pride and prejudice.
you smiled at him, like your excitement was taking over and he could tell how much you loved talking about books. his gaze never wavering as you spoke about the stories that overwhelmed you and the others that never lasted a few pages before you decided to stop. he listened with such intent, such intrigue, it made you feel like you were someone he had known for years.
his aura was beautiful and a part of you wished that something would lead to something which would lead to something else. you didn't even feel anything in that regard, not yet anyway, but that same part. it was pulling... gently. ever so gently tugging at your heart.
"thank you for all of your recommendations," he began, holding on to ever single book you spoke about. you were about to protest that he didn't have to, but he was adament on keeping every single one.
"are you sure you want to get all of them?" your voice wavering on worry, but all he did was smile at you, letting out a soft laugh.
"i'm sure."
his voice was so reassuring, you almost forgot to offer him a bag. there was a slight pause before you realized, eyes widened in embarrassment.
you quickly apologized to him, running to the back to get a bag. you left the table feeling this overwhelming warmness flow through you as you noticed your heart beating against your chest. you tried to hide the excitement, but your heart was already getting your hopes too high.
but when you came back, your heart instantly dropped right into your stomach. a woman was now standing next to him, but something was different in his eyes. the oceans were no longer waves crashing against the seashore. they were climbing under thunderstorms. drowning in its own current.
her hair was dark red in color, flowing to accentuate the curves of her body. she was unbelievably gorgeous and your heart sank even more. but there was something about her that you couldn't figure out.
"here's your bag, i didn't mean to—"
"why your table is absolutely gorgeous, isn't it austin?"
he didn't glance at you or her or anyone. all he did was nod. you noticed the grip she had on his arm. it was tight. suffocating.
you offered the bag to them, but she shooed your hand away, like you were merely just a bug.
"no need sweetie, we were just on our way out. he was just looking anyway."
you tried your best to keep your composure, but you were fuming on the inside. only cassandra could call you that and at least when she did, it was endearing. not spiteful.
she flashed you the biggest smile that fueled your fire even more as she pulled austin away. you noticed him stiffen when they left the table. he couldn't even look at you.
and he couldn't even say goodbye.

WHAT I HOPE HAPPENS IN SEASON 7
Alright buckle up because this might get long. (also if somebody else has already made this theory I apologise)
To start, let's recap a few Important Events in season 6.
Rayla promises to kill Callum if he gets controlled by aaravos again.
Callum does the cleansing thing, and is told that if he does dark magic again he will be consumed by it.
We already know aaravos can control dark mages.
It's been said many times by many people that there is a lot of foreshadowing for Callum using dark magic again in season 7 to save Rayla, and therefore 'being consumed by it' and/or falling victim to Aaravos's control once more. In this scenario, Rayla has promised to kill him (and we all know Rayla refuses to break her promises).
There's a lot of takes on this. Some people say that Rayla will, for once, break her promise and refuse to kill Callum; but I frankly hope this DOESN'T happen, because i think it'll be wildly unsatisfying.
I've seen other people point out that there is one remaining Quasar Diamond, and it'd be an INSANE chekovs gun (or whatever the phrase is) to leave that unused. The general theory goes like this:
Callum uses dark magic to save Rayla
Aaravos controls Callum
Rayla kills Callum
Rayla uses the Quasar Diamond to bring Callum back to life
But here's the thing (and correct me if I'm wrong, ofc) isn't the Quasar Diamond unable to revive someone who's actually passed on into the afterlife? Aaravos was stuck in a prison similar to the coins, just made with primal magic, and the COINS were explicitly stated to be a plane between life and death where spirits got trapped. When Rayla's parents passed on, the left they coins but didn't return to mortality like Runaan.
So for the singular Quasar Diamond to revive a dead Callum, something ELSE would have to happen first...
Here's what I imagine in my dreams of Season 7:
At some point in the season, maybe Rayla or Callum has learnt the spell that Viren used to trap people in the coins (we know Callum has studies dark magic...I find it easy to believe that he could've written down the notes for it in his spellbook). I'm pretty sure the Staff of Ziard is required for this spell, so lets just say we have that as well. This will come back in a bit.
Rayla is in some dire moment, about to die, and Callum remembers their conversation at the ship - he remembers promising to choose the greater good over Rayla if it came to it. But he just can't. And somehow, who knows how, he has the opportunity to free her...but only by using Dark magic a third time.
It's no choice for him, of course. He does the spell and Rayla is saved but now Callum is corrupted for good and Aaravos possesses him again (or he just does something villain-arc-y idk). So now Rayla has to fulfill HER promise and even though she's beyond angry and heartbroken with Callum breaking his, she's not about to stoop to his level.
There's a dramatic-ass fight scene between warrior and mage - spells flying everywhere, Rayla battling with swords and arrows and all sorts. But eventually she overpowers him (because of course she does) - shoots an arrow through his heart or stabs him in the chest or something like that. And as he's there, bleeding out in her arms from a wound she inflicted, she gets an idea. A horrible, awful idea but its her only chance to fix this.
Without thinking (because how are you meant to think AT ALL when you're one true love soulmate is DYING-) she picks up the Staff of Ziard, finds the place in Callums book that lists the spell, and digs Runaans blank coin out of her pocket.... and suddenly Callum's dying body is gone and the coin is no longer blank and Rayla. Has. Done. Dark. Magic. GASP-
Anyway no idea what would happen after that but I just really like the idea of Rayla using dark magic and understanding Callum being unable to let her die. I feel like it'd be a GREAT moment and a really confronting and horrifying thing for her and daaammnnnnnn......

Headcanons I've written in my discord server over the span of ~10 months
Warnings: Lust mentioned at the very end, will be under a cut, The last part of Horror's section is also under the cut for an implied ED, and emetophobia
Misc/AU instead of Sans related, multiple at once:
All actual Sanses have the same birthday, but they celebrate their creation days as one too, if they know it most Sanses talk in sans-serif type fonts  Only Classic talks in Comic Sans  Dream, Nightmare, and Fresh don't talk in a sans serif font at all Error's* font is also different Outertale: When you're in a quiet spot, you can actually hear the stars twinkle (hc inspired by a part of my comfort MLP fan animation Snowdrop) AUs have cultural differences, and I'm not talking about stuff that's obvious like Underfell You know how some creators speak more than just english? What if it's because their underground is located under a mountain in a different part of the world Not only do AUs have different languages sometimes but also different accents
Classic
Classic doesn't have inside or outside clothes, he sleeps with the clothes he wears outside He'd love Weird Al's music Would absolutely wear crocs  Smells faintly like books and chemicals even if he hasn't been in a library or lab recently Do you think he washes that jacket if it's not stained? Absolutely not  Sci: smells like plastic wrapped books that have just been opened
Killer
is really good at pretending to be sober when drunk (In the more fanon bad sanses dynamic) forces the rest of the bad sanses do take stupid BuzzFeed quizzes Smells like handwritten books Stage 1/2 has a lot of quiet moments where he just analyses listens to Set It Off
Cross
listens to Nightcore music & Set It Off
hogs blankets
Cross, I love you...you use axe body spray
Absolutely illegal that people think Cross is taller than Dream, he's shorter
Any time Cross and Epic are in a room together, they're glued to each others side even if theyre currently arguing
Nightmare
has a high alcohol tolerance, you can't tell me those apples weren't rotten enough to be alcoholic would talk in the Money Penny font
Ink
The star sanses go to cafes and judge people's outfits jokingly, as if Ink with his toeless socks can judge anyone
Their  alcohol tolerance is highly dependand on what vials he drinks before
sends either an insane amount of small voice notes or one really long one, no in between
They're strong enough to pick people up but it looks so funny because they're so short
Ink, as a parent, would be the exact opposite of those 'Beige moms'
He refuses to deprive his kids of sensory input like that Would be fascinated by Killer's soul
They sneeze like a dad
Coffee has no effect on them
We all agree his vials are like mental illness medication right?
Error:
Can hear Undertale's soundtrack sometimes and it drives him wild
*His font is partially comic sans, partially other sans serif fonts
Gets headaches very easily
Smells like comic books, especially those that smell more like printer ink
We already know Error's eyesight is shit, but it's especially horrible and close to nonexistent on his smaller eye
Geno
Soul beats very unevenly
gets drunk really easily bc he's constantly bleeding, so there's less alcohol-free blood in his system for it to filter out (cough cough CPAU)
I feel like he would die from a sip of energy drink
Once he gets to the surface, he'll suffer from chronic headaches and other pains
He would would drop his backstory exactly the way dads drop Dad Lore (if you know, you know)
Geno looks like a coffee drinker but drinks tea
Smells like old books, specifically dry basement ones
Reaper
has haphephobia that stems from his death touch
At the same time, touch starved af
He drinks coffee despite having tea drinker vibes to people
Fell
Sometimes he just imagines random shit happening that would make him angry, and then gets angry over that
His summer outfit is the exact same but a sleeveless sweater under his jacket instead of a normal one
can only make 3 recipes and burns those sometimes too
giggles after getting kissed (he will deny this)
Uses Old Spice deo
Short king short king
has shoplifted before
Swap/Blue
gets hungry really fucking quickly
(I have a huge hc list specifically for him)
Dream
is a coffee drinker
He gives me the vibes of old people trying to use modern slang, but doing so incorrectly
sucks at modern technology
Once he finds out about emojis, it's over for everyone
is into astrology
the opposite of a Disney princess. Animals don't like him
Dream's insults hit harder than Nightmare's, he just knows what hurts you
High alcohol tolerance
Ccino
exhausted
has a Morning Special he makes himself before working at his cafe. It has way too much caffeine in it
One day Dream walked into his cafe, Ccino took a good look at him and gave him his Morning Special™
Only certain people can drink it though - this means both that only some tolerate it, but also that Ccino only gives it to some
Dust/Murder
Soul beats faster than others' souls
has absolutely horrible posture
jumps to conclusions easily
Dust hated Swap as soon as he first met him
I mean, Dust doesn't like himself much for he did, ESPECIALLY to his brother
So a Sans who acts kinda like a Papyrus? Nuh uh
Is this the basis of Dustberry?
Anyway
Smells like an old, slightly burnt book
Concept: Phantom Papyrus but he used to be a hallucination that turned into an actual ghost somehow -> Phantom and XChara can see each other
Horror
doesn't like horror movies much
he's seen enough shit
Likes chickens
Hc for fanon horror: cooking for the bad sanses, at first didn't trust anyone else
Canon Horror probably can't cook very well
Faint smell of damp books
TW ED, TW Lust
Horror has moments where he binge eats and then regrets it later
Lust
Is like the only Sans who enjoys warm weather
Infertile, compromises by being a cool ass babysitter
Loves flowers
A tea drinker

I don't know who else to tell 🫣🫣 Steve feeds my little pain kink so much 😔 he looks good bloody 😳😳😳😳
Tumblr media
Anon, have you been spying on my AO3 history?
You can tell me this shit aaaall day 😘
I just worked my way through "The Least Difficult of Men" from isozyme. It's a stony fic (and I bet that one anon from the other day will be baffled by that 💀💀). Typically, stony isn't my cup of tea, no disrespect to the people who prefer the drink, BUT I am weak, weak, weak for masochistic Steve, and the tags drew me in. How could I resist? And I have not been disappointed at all! It is so fucking good, I finished it a little bit ago and there's so much visceral ✨️pain✨️
The imagery in that fic fuck.
I think a lot about Steve in general--let's be real--but I think a lot about the faces Steve makes specifically, and lately, I've had Steve's face in (consensual, of course) pain in my head.
Who wouldn't want to see that pretty face contorted in pain, enjoying it perversely. Taking something that should be so awful but feeling it so good. It's intense and hot and stinging and painful, but god, it hurts so good.
So good.
Imagine...
((stucky masochism/sadism below the cut))
Imagine Steve, struggling beautifully underneath the weight of the biting sensations he's being made to feel. Controlled and commanded. He's strung up, restrained, and totally helpless to the assault Bucky is waging on his body. Steve's arms are stretched out to his sides, straight, so he can feel the strain in his muscles every time he breathes--heaving, chest expanding, then contracting, shoulder blades shifting, muscles over his ribs rippling, his stomach clenching. The ropes coiled around his wrists tightly paint red across his fair skin. He doesn't need to move, so his ankles are also bound, not as wide--he can stand, but it's not so easy on him. That's part of why he keeps tensing and squirming. But it isn't the whole story. He's squirming and tensing, his muscled body tight, because Bucky keeps hurting him.
Oh, God.
Steve chokes, his blue eyes welling until they glisten like jewels. He's so close to overflowing, nearly sobbing, but not yet. He can hold out for longer... right? He won't start crying yet?
But-!
Bucky's fingers are delightfully, horribly cruel--scratching deep lines in his fair skin until he looks like he's been mauled by a wild animal, lines down his back and across chest and up his thighs, lines underscoring his desire; slapping bruises across his ass until his poor backside is nearly purple, throbbing with heat; biting and pinching his hips so they're dotted with fingertip bruises like obscene flower petals; twisting his nipples until they get puffy and swollen, abused hotly; thumbing the slit of his pulsing cock until Steve feels raw and achy, leaking all over himself, making a mess. All of that torture and more. So much more that Steve can't fucking keep track of it all. It's so overwhelming. He can't--
He doesn't--
He doesn't know what's happening. He just knows that it makes his nerves all burn and crackle with an inferno he can't get anyway else. Nothing else sets fire to him so completely.
Nothing feels like this.
Fuck, he doesn't know what to feel because it all feels so good. It's so overwhelming in every way. Steve doesn't know where to look. He can't look at Bucky with that evil, gorgeous smile on his face--all teeth, dangerous and divine. He can't look at nothing, focused somewhere out in front of him, because then all he has to go off of is the way his skin sings.
And he can't fucking look down at himself because then all he sees is the evidence of how far he's willing to go for pleasure. The evidence of his pure depravity written across his skin as if he's a book. If he dares to look down at himself and feel the throb of flooding arousal, his teary and blue, so blue, eyes find hazily that his skin is blushing. He's sweating so much that he's glistening. Glowing red. And, Christ, his nipples are so red and hard over his round pecs that move with his gasping chest. His chest! Steve squirms as much as he can--his chest is scored with marks. Below that, if he can keep his blurry eyes open, his stomach is tight with lust, but his eyes skim over it much easier to stare down at his weeping, twitching, throbbing cock. He couldn't be harder if he tried.
Jesus.
Pain takes him from every angle, but it sharpens and deepens until he's wailing when Bucky flicks the head of his cock. Bright. Bright. FUCK. It's so bright and awful and good. White hot, teeth-gritting pain that cuts through him. Slices into his chest and makes it so he can't breath. The sensation viciously rips up from his cock into his belly and, and, and--
Steve screams when he does it again. Flicking the overly sensitive head of his dripping cock.
He's sobbing.
There's no choice in it. Sobbing. Steve can't choke it down or bite it off. He's sobbing whether he wants to or not now. He doesn't have a choice when he's burning alive, relishing in it. Maybe he's insane but, GOD, it hurts so good that he never wants it to stop. Clenching his fists until the bones in his hands creak.
Flick. Flick. Flick.
Ah! AH! AH!
It hurts so bad that he wants it to stop right now. Never. Stop. Don't. He cries harder. He moans louder.
Steve struggles so hard under the eating, all-consuming sensation that he loses his footing, gasping, the ground disappearing beneath him with a terrifying suddenty. Heart thudding in his chest like it might speed out of control, rising into his throat.
Scrambling with muscles melted, Bucky has to help Steve back to his feet to give him what he craves. More pain. More pleasure. More torture--merciless and so goddamn perfect.
Bucky. Bucky.Bucky.Bucky that's all Steve has besides glorious pain.
Bucky.
Bucky is so good to him. Marking him up, stripping him down completely to his bare bones, killing him by how alive he makes him feel.
Bucky is so good to him.
Bucky could use an implement on Steve rather than his hands, something, anything--a crop, a flogger, a paddle, vampire gloves, clothes pins, clamps, anything. Anything. But he isn't. He's taking Steve apart with his bare hands, making him whine rustily and cry desperately and ache for a taste of mercy.
Using nothing more than his hands to leave his mouth hanging open, sobbing, squirming pathetically weakly, sweetly garbling, "h-hurts! AH! It huurts!" when he can't take it anymore, he's gonna fucking cum. It's so much. So good.
Bucky cocks his head to the side, "aww," he clicks his tongue, pouting at him as he steps in closer, intentionally rubbing his thigh against him so Steve can feel the raw head of his dick catch Bucky's pants, the friction making him want to scream all over again, muscles tensing and quivering, wrecked, "it hurts, does it, baby?"
Steve moans low in his throat, exhausted in the best way, hanging his head, barely nodding.
"Poor thing," Bucky wraps his arms around Steve's neck, playing innocent while pressing his knee to Steve's heavy, tight balls. Totally unrelenting as he flinches and sings for him, crying out in pain.
"Nnngh!" Steve whines raggedly, stretching to get onto his toes. The pain of his balls getting smashed against the thick, corded muscle of Bucky's killer thighs is, is... it's gonna, yeah, God, it's gonna kill him. He's gonna die. He's gonna cum. Now. Bucky is ruthless, making him hurt deliciously everywhere. Fuuuck.

MDZS Fanon VS Canon: 2/?
Wen Ning fits Jiang Cheng's list of requirements for a wife
Rating: FANON – NEUTRAL
A lot of ships involving Jiang Cheng will use a list detailing the characteristics of his ideal woman as evidence for one pairing for another, and the character brought to me to evaluate as a suitable match was Wen Ning. Unfortunately, I have to rate this as fanon because Jiang Cheng's wife requirements... aren't canon to the novels.
In terms of the official adaptations, Jiang Cheng's requirements for his perfect wife seem to be Untamed-only canon, as part of the Jiang Cheng/Wen Qing subplot the drama invented. However, the MDZS Fandom Wiki (which, side note, is a horrible source for anything) credits the following list of requirements to a since-deleted Tumblr post:
Naturally beautiful, graceful and obedient, hard-working and thrifty, coming from a respected family, cultivation level not too high, personality not too strong, not too talkative, voice not too loud and must treat Jin Ling nicely. (source)
Using the Wayback Machine, I managed to find the original Tumblr post in question (seen here). According to the user who posted it, this is a translated excerpt from a Weibo post written by MXTX herself, listing 10 supplemental facts about the books – supposedly posted a year before The Untamed was first announced.
I do not have Weibo and cannot verify this claim, but regardless, I do not consider "word of God" to be canon for the purposes of this blog. Whatever MXTX's intentions were when writing this list, Jiang Cheng's requirements are not mentioned anywhere in the actual text, and so I cannot rate this suggestion as anything but fanon. You, the reader, are free to choose whether you think MXTX's supplemental material is canon-accurate.
As for Wen Ning himself: Canonically, Jiang Cheng "could never tolerate" him (Seven Seas Ch. 19, p. 251), and so unfortunately this ship cannot officially sail. Even if Wen Ning does fit every entry on this list, Jiang Cheng would not consider him a prospective match. I do not consider the list canon, and so any attempts to figure out if Wen Ning fits the letter of the list (if not the spirit) can not be anything but subjective.
But, well, this post is about the list itself, not Jiang Cheng's feelings about it. So while I'm here, I might as well have some fun with it.... Feel free to use the notes to debate whether or not you think Wen Ning is secretly right for Jiang Cheng's dubiously-canon standards.
Naturally beautiful: Wen Ning is ADORABLE and I LOVE HIM. You can't look at him and NOT call him cute; even Wei Wuxian thinks his "side profile [is] delicate and refined" (Seven Seas Ch. 12, p. 141). Would Jiang Cheng think this? Um,
Graceful and obedient: He's pretty meek and he's described as a yes-man (Seven Seas Ch. 16, p. 22), and he does what Wei Wuxian says a lot (under magical flute coercion or otherwise), but he can be pretty stubborn when he wants to be. I wouldn't call him falling off a roof "graceful," but I suppose that was after he was zombified.
Hard-working and thrifty: Yes – I can't imagine he got all those Wen subordinates by being completely lazy. And if anything he's kind of the pack horse for the Burial Mounds crew lol.
Coming from a respected family: Technically? Yes. The Wens have historically been a powerful and influential family, and Wen Ning is the younger brother of someone of "a rank on par with Wen Chao" (Seven Seas Ch. 12, p. 148). Functionally? Uhhhh
Cultivation level not too high: This one is debatable, but probably a yes. We don't receive much information about Wen Ning's cultivation level, since his fighting prowess isn't really plot-relevant until he dies, but he is described as "unremarkable" in comparison to Wen Qing. Just like, in general, I guess. (Seven Seas Ch. 12, p. 149)
Personality not too strong: See #2. I would say yes with some caveats. Especially (and ironically) when Jiang Cheng is involved.
Not too talkative/voice not too loud: Also a match! Wen Ning stutters a lot and doesn't really raise his voice unless he's angry, so he's pretty quiet. Remember that time he and wangxian were on that boat and Wei Wuxian straight up didn't notice him for like five minutes? Poor guy. Can you believe this happened to him twice.
Must treat Jin Ling nicely: Do we count murdering his dad? Because if we don't, then Wen Ning treats Jin Ling very nicely. He even saves his life multiple times!
In conclusion: ?????????

You have to love the hypocrisy of the show acting as though being a pimp is so much better than being a slave owner; like it isn't still human trafficking, and as though in that time and place, black women wouldn't have suffered the most from it. It's a seriously disgusting thing to pretend that it's this cutesy, morally fine thing to do: if they're fine with Louis being a sex trader, than they should have been fine with portraying the actual story of the books - he's meant to be a passively bad person. The story is about evil deserving empathy. It would be different if they used the fact that he's a pimp to explore the fact that he's always profited off of human lives and was passively evil in life, that would have been different (though that's exactly what the books do, so it still would have worked with the original story and then the show might have been good), but it was used as a way to make Louis a morally fine uwu baby. I fucking hate it. It's disgusting for the show runners to pretend sex trading is okay and doesn't harm people, it's dishonest to pretend the show is a discussion about the legacy of race in America without actually discussing the way in which black women suffered as a result of misogynoir and how they were sexualised and their sexual exploitation was ignored (but we all know how the show feels about black women given what they did to Claudia), and it's ridiculous to pretend that it's a gothic story when it veers away from the moral complexities inherent to the gothic genre. It's a poorly written, malicious, badly developed show with subpar actors, and I hate how popular it's become. It feel as though it's defiling the legacy of the books. And apparently Marius is a pimp now too. I hate even engaging with it, but I had to vent. I hope it gets cancelled as soon as possible and the fan base dies down, in the meantime, I'll try to enjoy the books and the circle of book fabs that remain here. Of which your blog is a wonderful example. Love to you, hate to AMC.
I absolutely agree with every single word lol. As a woman and as a iwtv fan i am disgusted by the treatment of women in this show, but apparently the show writers and the majority of audience don't care about women representation, neither black nor white. Also the fact that they portrayed the sex workers (in the few scenes where they appear) as 'relaxed' women that seem to have a friendly attitude towards Louis (who in this show possesses a strong ambition for business) is weird and gives to the viewer a distorted view of reality. The narrative focused a lot on the issue of racism, so why not showing briefly the suffering of black prostitutes? Because the male gaze doesn't want to recognize it? I don't know. And don't get me started on the other female characters.
What happened to Claudia was completely avoidable and unnecessary and still rj opted for this version and said that the r4pe was 'a horrible thing that happened to her, but it has toughened her up'. I guess it is a self-explanatory sentence. I can't even imagine how SA victims felt while hearing him say it. It completely downplays the trauma of SA and implies that women get something positive out of it. I felt that episode and the scene in one of the first episodes where Louis burns the tapes of the '70 interview (the book….) were disgustingly disrespectful towards Anne Rice and her fans.
Last year I got into a heated argument with some show fans on twitter because they kept reiterating that 'at least prostitution gives more freedom to women/people than slavery', 'louis is a good pimp, he treats his girls with respect', 'he defends the prostitutes from cruel men' , 'at least he didn't enslave my ancestors unlike book louis', it was annoying and i was astonished of reading all their statements, very misogynistic.
Regarding pimp Louis: not only this is a way to avoid probing into the character's psyche/moral (and not include one of the most important themes of the novel), but it is a way of de responsabilize (and deny) the past. Louis is a man of his time and, with an accurate work of writing, it would have made sense to contestualize his privileged position and explain what it meant for him to be in charge of a plantation, it would have been interesting to show what it meant to be a landowner and slave owner at the time and the consequences of his actions reflected on his slaves, maybe introducing some of them into the narrative in a more concrete way (or do the same with the pimp/brothel storyline in the show, because it's equally evil), since it is a topic basically not explored in the book. But the showrunner decided that nowadays one should not represent these issues on tv and you have to disregard the past. It is extremely hypocritical.
And it's awful that for this reason they chose another historical setting, changing century and not addressing the fact that there were just as many issues in 1910/20 as well; apparently for the writers the XX century was a historical period with minor social problems where no difficulties existed (aside from racism, it was pretty much the most prominent theme in s1). And I doubt that the reconstruction of the New Orleans society of the time is faithful lol (and where is the voodoo?). All this imo denotes great laziness in the writing.
And clearly this series does not belong to the gothic genre, it's more a teen drama. Beyond the surface level thrills, the gothic literature holds a profound mirror to the complexities of human psychology that here are totally absent. I also doubt that the show writers did extensive research on the figure of the vampire in literature.
We were all eagerly waiting for the cancellation of this garbage that is NOT iwtv/tvc and the immediate disappearance of the show fandom ahahah but unfortunately it has been renewed for s3 😔
Thank you for the compliments mwah! hugs!

Another Rant
I think its funny how people will say that Sarah has had this series planned since 2015/2017 and convince themselves that this means elucien is endgame because they are already mates on page because she said "not much has changed" and that this must mean that gwynriel is real, too.
Like I'm pretty sure it only started out as the first 3 acotar books and the novella anyways. "Not much has changed" means that she didn't go with mor/az and elucien. You can literally see the moments in acowar where she changed this. And please don't forget about acofas. The one where Sarah said that we would have an idea about what Elain would do with her bond. And then in acosf when she literally made Elain and Lucien's only moment together so incredibly awkward. That moment was so telling. And do I really have to go into detail about all of Elain and Az's moments? By the end of acofas I was convinced of elriel and acosf only confirmed it for me. That bonus chapter confirmed that both Elain and Az are attracted to each other and were willing to explore that.
Like first Lucien was meant to be with Nesta and then she realized that wouldn't work out cause Nesta would have destroyed him if he ran up to her after she was turned and told her he was her mate, so she stuck him with Elain. I believe she did this to keep Lucien in the story for one little part of the koschei plot and she has done absolutely nothing to prove that Elain will ever be happy with him. Like I don't honestly see anymore how Lucien could be important anymore. I used to think that he would be this vital thing for the koschei plot but when you think about it, they really don't need him. The only thing he could do is realize his spell breaking powers and free Vassa. That's it.
And Gwyn? All signs point to her being a lightsinger and I don't know why people can't realize that. Az AND Nesta both react to her powers in almost the same way. His shadows reacted to her powers, her music or singing. They also danced to the music that was played off of Bryce's phone so I can't believe that his shadows dancing is a sign that Gwyn and Az are mates. I do not see any kind of attraction or hints of gwynriel. If anything, I think Gwyn just wants to prove herself to everyone around her, especially the one who rescued her and seen the horrible thing that she went through.
And whoever thinks that Nesta would not be happy for Elain and Az because it would "leave Gwyn alone and without a love" clearly do not understand Nesta. Elain is her sister, her favorite sister, and Az is quickly becoming her best friend. She supposedly "hated" Feyre and look at what she did for her at the end of acosf. Feyre, Rhys, and Nyx would literally be dead if it wasn't for her. I can only imagine what she would do for Elain. Yes, she has found true friendship with Gwyn and Emerie, but Elain is her sister, her blood. I believe that Nesta would be ecstatic for Elain if being with Az is truly what she wanted. She would support it. The last time we seen Elain on paper was when she was walking basically arm in arm with her sisters on a happy stroll in Velaris. And I want to know why everyone thinks that Gwyn is ready to be in a relationship anyways. She can't even leave the library yet. And I highly doubt that the first man she will be with is the man that saved her, like that would be a constant reminder of that night for me. And what's to say that she is even interested in men? Like why does everyone assume that she just has to be with Az?
And yes, I know these are characters and not real people. Yes, I know Sarah will write whatever she wants. And yes, I know I could be completely wrong, but based on what she talks about, who she talks about, and what/how she has written things, I can only believe that she is going to make elriel endgame.
That's it for my rant this time. I kinda rambled on in this one lol.
And by the way, HAPPY ELRIEL MONTH 💜

Hihi! What are 5 things that make you happy? (bonus, ask the last 5 people in your notes :0)
TMNT - Seriously like every show and movie is GREAT and I'm currently reading the IDW comic. I've literally adopted each and every turtle as my own son.
Trigun - Vash the Stampede is my BABY GIRL and MY HUSBAND. I've been into Trigun since I was a lee wass. I love Vash so much. I got my dad to actually watch Trigun with me so it's something really cool to bond over with family. Trigun stampede is also like SO good. I also read Tri Max in the library and didn't publicly cry. :)
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle / XXXholic / Magic Knight Rayearth/ Clamp - I'm super into these classical shoujo series. They shaped how I am as a person to this day. Clamp was a lot of firsts for me in terms of manga reading so they're forever in a special place in my heart.
Scum Villain's Self Saving System - This book lives rent free in my mind. I can't believe how funny it is. It's so insane and I love every second of it. How am I somehow Binghe and ShenQingQiu at the same time, but lowkey I want what CumPlane have IRL. that's the ultimate romance to me and they're platonic .
Lout of the Count's family - LITERALLY go read it this series. Cale Henituse, young master silver shield, is EVERYTHING. That sweet man who adopts everyone is just like me FR except we're nothing alike BUT I STILL LOVE HIM.
My secret 6th - DO YOU KNOW Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint is written by a married couple???? Kim Dokja is apparently modeled after the wife??? Hello??? I'm not normal. I'm not sane.
I'm asking you next @noname-nonartist @wrathofnature @wallstoothin @wizard-finix @tinyballerinadancer1 :>
real answers below
Art/ Creative Expression! Being able to draw pretty neat stuff whenever I want is so awesome! It's more then drawing, I like writing and making stuff by hand too.
Super generic answer but my family! I have a pretty small family and a bunch of pets. We're all super close and they bring me joy. I like helping and taking care of them and I like it when they help and take care of me!
Another Generic answer, my friends! Sometimes they're the reason I get up out of bed! Friends are awesome like that.
Brainrot! Zoning out about my latest brainrot is my life copium. I like to imagine my current fav character being horribly tortured by the narrative but it's ok because my brainrots always have hurt comfort. Or I just imagine bundling up my Oshi in a blanket and giving them a warm bowl of soup. It can go either way really.
Cartoons, Anime, Movies, Media/entertainment in general - I can't get enough of them. They're just so delightful especially the ones with whimsy.

Like promised in my Lucifer and Lilith post: here's my redesign and character changes for Charlie
Like always, notes under the cut. Drawn in Clip Studio Paint and with Photoshop CS6 for final touches. Okay to reblog, Feedback is encourage.
Charlie's character in the Pilot/canon:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, I really don't have any complaints about Charlie's design in the pilot. I think it's cute. I can't say the same for for the show itself though. Her hair is fine, but I don't like the outfit at all. Too much red and within a show that already has too much red, it all blends together and honestly isn't pleasant on the eyes. Honestly, I can't imagine what it'd be like for color blinded people heesh.
However, her design is the least of the problems I have with Show!Charlie. My major grip with Charlie in the show is how she's written.
There's a lot of things you can say about Charlie in the Pilot but what you can't say about her that she was unrealistic. She had good intentions and while she did come across as naïve, she wasn't stupid. She knew that her idea for the Happy Hotel could end up in disaster and maybe was dead in the water from day one; but she liked to believe that there's good in everyone and people deserve a second chance, or at least a chance to change for the better.
She also didn't come across as sheltered or a pushover like she did in the show neither. Charlie knew why people are sent to Hell and some are truly horrible people; some that she may have found out aren't worthy of redemption, let alone want to be redeemed. Also she knew when to put her foot down and not take shit unlike in the show where she just doesn't want to use her power as Princess of Hell because 'that's too mean' like giiiiiirl...
A part of me likes to believe that Pliot!Charlie would have no problem standing up to Valentino and get Angel Dusk out of his clutches if it meant not just for a chance Angel becoming a better person, but because he is her friend and believes no one should be abused like Val does to Angel.
(She also wouldn't call Angel Dusk a loser for being SA'd and R*ped like the show did with Husk. I know what Loser Baby was trying to do with it's message but it comes across as tone death being you can't really compare Husk's problems to what Angel is going though but I digest. There's better people to speak about this topic than me, honestly. I highly recommend Limus' video in regard to how Angel Dusk is written if you want to hear from an SA survivor's PoV)
About the redesign and character changes:
Honestly? I didn't change much from her pilot design because there really wasn't much to change in my book. Why fix perfection after all? If anything I just added onto what was already established plus added features from her redesigned parents. I gave them more golden hair with red hues along with Lilith's little horns that also grow when angry or in full demon form. I've seen a lot of people drawing Charlie with goat like features and couldn't help but not find that adorable so I ended up going down that route as well. (my Lilith also had animal ears but my Lucifer has more goat features in his demon form) They do still have there red suit jacket which they likely wears most of the time but I just really like her suspenders I want to show them off. Look I just think they're neat.
Her personality is closer to the pilot than it is the show, with her world view slowly changing as the story goes on. They also grow closer to the tenants of the hotel so that she can help them better suppose to doing day camp activities and thinking that's enough to get someone redeemed. I mean there are a few things from the show like trust excuses that I can see her putting the cast in being trust can be a virtue, but otherwise her methods become slowly just...talking and listening and finding the root of why they are the way they are with some of them perhaps tried to do good when still alive but always gotten dragged back into whatever sin or horrible thing they got themselves for what ever reason it may be. The only expectation of this is Alastor who doesn't really change much outside of growing fond of Charlie and some of their better qualities possibility rubbing off on him but considering he was a serial killer and cannibal when alive, I don't think there's anyway he's getting anywhere close to Heaven. XD
Her and Vaggie (who I will be renaming to Agatha, or Aggie for short in my AU) aren't a couple. At least at the very beginning of the story as I plan on going a more slow burn approach with their relationship suppose to them being a couple from the get go. I like the idea of Chaggie but found their relationship in the show was kinda wasted potential and (that seems to be the underlining theme of Hellaverse at this point) boring honestly. They had some chemistry and cute moments but I feel like the writers had really little interest in their relationship to begin with outside of wanting a wlw romance and from my understanding the reason why Chaggie is a thing is because a few people on Viv's team shipped it while none of the writers really cared much idk? It being slow burn in this case is more of a personal preference than it is to fix the problems with the pairing as a whole. Honestly for a show who claims to be 'female focused' it sure doesn't seem like it cares about it's woman characters at all? It's like the showrunners wanted to pull an excuse out of their ass to avoid taking accountability for poor writing in Helluva Boss' female leads...
Tumblr media
They're non binary and go by she/them pronouns. Why? Well, Why not?
Honestly I don't have much more to say about Charlie being I'm basically taking what was given in the pilot and working with that as a base. Maybe I'll talk more in depth about her relationship with the tenants later but as of now I think I may have said everything I needed.
Next on my design agenda will be Archangel Michael (replaces Adam), following redesigns for Kesha!Bee and Stolas. I also need to finish up my second part of my Pride Ring post. It's about done but I need to clean it up a bit...

What is your opinion on the "Female Space Marines" thing, Lady Mirdan?
Are you trying to get me cancelled, my good man? 😅
Strap in. This is gonna be an unhinged and unfocused ranty wall of text.
Short answer:
Female space marines are a primaris level of a bad idea, and I really hope it doesn't become canon.
Slightly longer answer:
I feel like people forget that the Imperium are bad guys. Even the Emperor's “dream” for the Imperium is a fascist utopia, with all its horrible connotations going along with that.
There are good/interesting people/characters mixed into this mess, and I find it so interesting to see them interact in a world where the morals are (sometimes not) so radically different from the one we are living in.
The Imperium is a horrible, xenophobic, misogynistic, misanthropic hellhole.
The rotting carcass of the Emperor on a golden throne is a perfect metaphor for this.
The only thing that matters is brute strength or power/resources.
Human lives are very cheap in the Imperium. I have heard the argument “It doesnt make any sense to ignore half of your population when making space marines”, yes it does. Geneseed is rare and valuable, but humans are not. There is always someone willing to give up their son for a chance to get the God Emperors' blessing.
But let's say it is possible. Geneseed is fully compatible with female anatomy. Would someone still do it?
My guess is: probably not.
The Imperium can't even come up with a new pair of shoelaces without the inventors risking being called heretics. None of the bigger, more established chapters would risk it. Entire chapters have been wiped out for less.
I would also expect that the Ecclesiarchy would be rather unhappy with the Astartes dipping their toes into their own military recruitment pool. Terran bureaucracy is not a thing to be taken lightly.
Can’t Roboute Guilliman just go in and make it a thing?
Maybe, but why would he want to? What has given anyone the opinion that Guilliman is a “good guy”?
He often (in my opinion) wrongly gets accredited as the primarch of reason/tactics/politics when he is clearly the master of Propaganda.
He is memed to be this chivalrous boy scout when he absolutely is not. That is his carefully crafted public image.
Look at what types of men he chooses to promote when given the chance. Strong and dumb, every time.
But how about the chaos space marines?
Here we actually have an argument to do it. We have seen in several books (Nightlords, Fabius Bile etc,) that human fertility drops dramatically in the warp.
Here every body counts, and they have to be more economical with their initiates.
Fabius Bile himself is working hard to make this a possibility. Even though he wants to do his own thing and not just more space marines, they are close enough for me to be called female space marines, and I'm fine with them. The EC can have them… but do we really want them to?
What about the other Traitor Legions then?
Most of the traitor Legions leaders grew up in the Imperium and shares a lot of their sensibilities and morals.
I would doubt that the Black Legion would be fine with it even IF (big if) Abaddon himself were ok with it. A lot of his warbands would be pissed. There aren't good and rational people; they are just as brainwashed as the imperials. (I imagine a good re-enactment of this happening would be the Templin institute’s comment field on their video about this, but with (actual) curses and no profanity filter)
But GW has done bigger retcons in the past!
Yes, they have. And most of them have been handled badly.
I fully believe that female space marines CAN be introduced in a good way.
Do I trust GW/BL to do this well? Absolutely the fuck not.
I have read a good number of BL books by now, and I think I have come across well-written female characters… twice?
But my friend has a kitbashed army with female space marines, and he wants to play with them. Hell yeah! Can I see it? I love kitbashes, and I much rather see a female space marine on the table than an “Angry marine”, for example. I’m not bothered in the least by anything fan created. It is GW I don't trust.
You don't want female space marines because you are a sexist!
I'm not gonna bother defending against this because that would make me a hypocrite.
Yes, the primary reason I don’t want female space marines is so I can have a harem of imaginary big, buff boyfriend waifus that will never ever have an unmotivated, badly written love interest written in. Do you have any idea how rare that is to come across in a fandom?

The experience of just casually reading Warrior Cats and something like the Bumble scene just comes out to metaphorically whack me in the head and make me ask what the hell just happened. I’ve been mostly enjoying Dawn of the Clans, been liking most of the characters, but the Bumble just feels so out of left field. It’s also really confusing narratively as well. A conflict where Tall Shadow wants to protect her cats against Clear Sky’s cats could be really interesting, and some sort of mind game subplot with Wind could be interesting as well, but the Bumble scene is just such a contrived and poorly written way to convey whatever the hell is happening.
Considering the new story team took over during this part of the arc, I can imagine that so many things got bungled plotwise. The mountain cats being kind of wary of things associated with the twolegplace due to dogs and monsters and the supposed untrustworthiness of twolegs as well as the death of Shaded Moss is something I’d at least be willing to buy as to why they would be at least a bit wary around Bumble, but every previous indication of their feelings about kittypets felt more like “I don’t get why cats would stay with twolegs” rather than “kittypets all suck actually.”
Also I think the whole Bumble situation goes against a large theme of the arc about a group of cats from different walks of life banding together, and the trials and tribulations they face. Given the rapid pace of Warrior Cats’ books releases, I’m not surprised stuff like this slips through the cracks.
I completely and utterly reject that this is a problem of the new writing team. I hear that in just about every 3rd comment about DOTC's awful writing. This sprawls back just as far as Sun Trail and you can't hide from it-- Sun Trail was the exact moment of onboarding for the team as confirmed by James Noble, with them having enough influence on this arc as to push Gray Wing's death off at least 2 times.
And everything shitty about Gray Wing goes right back to Sun Trail
Possessive of his love interests and where they go? This trait of Gray Wing starts in Sun Trail, with Storm, and eventually with Turtle too when she decides he's treating her like ass and Bumble's making a good offer.
Excusing his brother's garbage actions, completely ignoring the tone of wider scenes? Starts in Sun Trail, when he has a casual chat with Clear Sky after almost being murdered by Fox, killing him, being disavowed, and Storm evaporating
Misogyny? Storm AND Bright Stream were fridged in the same book.
Abuse apologia? Storm is in an argument with Clear Sky, her movement and freedom being restricted, in the very scene we find out she's pregnant. "He's just being protective" passed all around, leaving because he's being godawful, and her dying horribly because he was right all along about Her Needing Him. She dies apologizing to him.
Xenophobia? The Tribe cats distrust kittypets almost immediately, even being attacked by rogues, with Gray Wing hating Bumble the second he sees her (probably because she makes Turtle Tail happy).
I don't remember if he calls Bumble fat in Sun Trail but if you make me go back into it for evidence I'm going to Hunt an Erin
Sun Trail has a high note near the end, with Gray Wing announcing he is Thunder's father now. It's one line, not actually showing us anything about how good their relationship is. It's already strained by Thunder Rising. Gray Wing learns the same lesson about his brother being the devil at the end of every book and it never sticks
It was never good about families, it was never good about ableism, or abuse, or misogyny, these cats were jerks from practically the beginning.
And no I also completely reject that this arc at any point, let alone as a "Larger Theme" was about "cats of different walks of life banding together." When?? When they gave Wind and Gorse a ridiculously hard time about joining? When the Tribe cats pressured them to change their names to 'fit in'? When the Moor group was pissed off that Turtle spent the winter in Bumble's house and almost didn't let her back in?
When Clear Sky was shown as a Big Savior for kindly bringing civilization to all these lawless rogues, or was it when he was being portrayed as a bully who "didn't care" who fights for him when Snake and his stinky breath come on screen?
Or was it when they were fighting One Eye and Slash, two pure evil foreigners they had to conjure out of the ether because they decided that Clear Sky's sooo sorry now, getting rid of their main antagonist because they REFUSED to have a member of the Good and Wonderful Tribe cats remain a villain?
No, no no no no. The Bumble Debacle isn't out of left field, it's the whole goddamn arc. It's just the most egregious, undeniable moment of DOTC's ghoulishness and the part that puts its flaws on full display

I know it's No Nuance November, but I'd like to attempt a nuanced perspective on The Election.
It has become apparent that Kamala's campaign was atrocious, much worse than I realized, in fact (I don't live in the USA, so I wasn't aware of some of the more egregious aspects like Liz Cheney's involvement or the Bill Clinton incident). It is unfair to blame her loss on the left, Palestinians, or even third-party voters this time. She fumbled this hard and she absolutely deserved this loss. Fuck around and find out.
With that said, it is also unfair to characterize everyone who did vote for her as callous racists who don't give a shit about Palestine. Many of us were led to believe there was hope for Palestine with Harris/Walz. Walz had expressed sympathy for Palestinians in the past, and even Harris had entertained the possibility of a ceasefire. It was a slim hope, to be sure, but it was hope nonetheless, and people can't be blamed for clinging to it. Even some Palestinians and other Arabs were voicing support for Harris/Walz by the end.
Even for people who weren't invested in what is happening in Palestine for whatever reason, preventing another four years of Trumpism was a legitimate political goal. Not enough to run a campaign on, as Harris learned the hard way, but still a very valid goal to strive for. Trump and his cult have done immeasurable damage to the US and the world in general. Reproductive rights have suffered a severe blow, conspiracy theory crank is rampant, more and more young people are geing radicalized by culture war influencers, and Elon Musk is the worst. A Trump loss wouldn't have put an end to it all overnight, but it would have seriously hindered the movement by denying its leader more power. For himself, Trump feared imprisonment if he lost and was thinking of leaving the country. There were even whispers that this loss would spell the end to the Republican Party, and presumably, this horrible two party system along with it. Can you imagine a world where American voters don't have to choose between two assholes every four years? It's a tantalizingly attractive prospect. A Trump loss would have undoubtedly been a net positive.
But all is not lost. There is no way for the Trumpies to fully undo the progress that has been made in the last several decades. Erasing the queer community from existence is nothing more than a conservative pipe dream. The literature has already been written, the conversations have been had, the connections have been made, the loves have been felt, the representation has been seen, and the "woke" TV shows have been watched. They can't undo any of that or erase it from the collective consciousness. Even if they did a whole Nazi style book-burning, it wouldn't stick in this age of the internet and global communication. There's no going back now. They can only desperately flounder as their narrow and hateful worldview becomes increasingly irrelevant. They may have won this election, but they have already lost the war.

fun find at the used bookstore the other day since their horror section is usually pretty sparse. had to stop myself from saying Holy Fuck out loud upon picking it up and seeing that guy. retro horror book covers you will always be famous to me
as for the actual stories inside,
son of celluloid - really cool concept of a monster in a movie theater that can like send your ass to the Movie Dimension and shapeshift itself into old film stars to lure you in with a beloved face and gets stronger the more it is "perceived"
however i really did not understand part of the lore of this creature which was that it partially grew out of cancer cells...?? what does that have to do with the rest of this... and unfortunately this story gets bogged down with the central POV character who is a fat woman, which is obviously fine, but like half of her narration is just thinking about how she hates being soo fat and how men aren't into her which is just. :/
also it made me question if clive has ever actually seen dumbo. dumbo's ears were his notable feature, my guy. that's kind of the whole thrust of the film.
rawhead rex - this is the only one i'd heard of in advance and it's certainly... memorable.
again the idea here is kino with this beast from ancient times being unleashed on this blase little british town and kind of plunging them back into a more primal state of being. the descriptions of rawhead and especially of him eating the children is like. viscerally freaky and horrible.
but the decision to write some scenes from the POV of rawhead himself is... i dunno. like i do think the story would feel a bit unfinished without his perspective so it's more How they're written, i guess, in this very normal voice that just makes him come across as a simple animal crossed with a petulant cruel teenager or something, and thus kind of ruining his scariness. maybe that was part of the intention and i just didn't fully get it? to me it would've been better for his POV to read as very stylized & different from the humans somehow.
and god i wish there didn't have to be so much piss involved. the demonic watersports scene got me staring off into the distance with a tired resignation
confessions of a pornographer's shroud - relatively simple ghostly revenge story. due to being told in big part from the POV of the ghost i can't call this one particularly scary, but the base idea of taking the silly halloweencore ghost wearing sheet and turning that into an actual serious haunting is fun.
scapegoats - a ship gets beached on a creepy little island they hadn't even noticed on the map which turns out to be a burial ground for tons of unidentified bodies who washed up there during the world wars.
the ending bit of this one was pretty effective but i can't get over my disappointment that this island wasn't more like lovecraftian in origin, which felt plausible based on initial descriptions of it. half alive corpses are scary sure but i wanted At The Shitty English Island of Madness instead.
also there's one part that felt straight out of one of junji ito's weirder oneshots which made me laugh out loud and im not sure the humor was intended.
human remains - sex worker goes home with a guy and finds some kind of sentient human sized statue in his bathtub which then proceeds to start following him around and taking on his identity & exact appearance.
probably my favorite in this book which feels odd to say since it's the least horror out of them. the MC's reaction to this creature eventually becomes almost friendly or loving, and the creature is polite and well spoken and though it kills people it generally only does so to live. very interesting. a story that it's difficult to imagine a straight author writing. could probably read some layers of metaphor into it if you were inclined

a shadow in riverclan it's horrible and I honestly can't understand how anyone likes it, Feathertail basically forgives Leopardstar for no valid reason??? and becomes xenophobic?? idk dude, I know these books have this """""culture""""" of facts being xenophobic, but how come they don't see the problem here, just feels icky yk?
I can get how people like the story from a perspective of reading about FeatherTail's trauma, but really everything else is just total shit for me. Genuinely the way both FeatherTail and the books (including outside of the GN) is horrible, in the latter's case it's just demonization after demonization towards a heavily traumatized woman who was manipulated by a murderous tyrant (Granted she didn't know about TigerStar's actions until she found out, then she left him). Sasha's trauma is written in a way that's so depressing but also realistic (the trauma bonding, missing her abuser, still having lingering feelings for him). Sasha was right to make sure FeatherTail would keep the secret of her kit's father even after she left. Sasha knew how badly the clans would freak out over NOTHING. Those kids did nothing wrong, but because their dad was TigerStar now they're a threat and need to suffer retribution for the crime of being related to a horrible person. As for FeatherTail and StormFur instantly forgiving LeopardStar's bullshit apology, yeah what the fuck was that. FeatherTail can forgive and understand the person who allowed for her and her brother to be executed as children but can't even imagine bringing herself to forgive- let alone understand- the person who's also a victim of TigerStar? Fuck you, FeatherTail. Also she can't say shit about Sasha's preferences in men she went on to fall in love with CrowFeather.
