i think it's both delightful and weird that louis in canon is a fan of dickens (just as anne rice was, she considered dickens her 'mentor'), multiple times lestat points out when louis is reading the english writer's books/biography

the fact that Louis reads to Lestat when Lestat is feeling shitty is probably the only later books aspect of their relationship that I will accept because it’s just……… soft. tender. loving. gentle. s’good. I’m gonna keep drawing it in loads of different versions okay. I literally have another sketch of Louis reading to Lestat sitting next to me. I hope you guys like that concept because it’s all you’re gonna get.

the scene where merrick reads louis's palm (the love lines) and affirms that he has three great loves in his life is very funny because anne is referring to: 1. obviously claudia 2. obviously lestat 3. this new character who never appeared in the previous six books (and who will never appear again in the future), who anne seemed to like more than other female characters written in the past and who coincidentally is a former acquaintance/lover of david when he was human and coincidentally is also a witch very powerful and half crazy who puts a love spell on louis because he is Sexy and she wants to become his fledgling. amazing lol

I’m reading Anne Rice's “Twenty-Six Years With my Beloved Immortals” essay on my lunch break, and it’s feeding me better than my actual lunch. Especially The Vampire Armand part, I mean:

“Armand is not someone whom I love or embrace, and his mind is alien to me. He is the uncomprehending villain of my first two Chronicles. But his sensuality I fully understand, and it was through his sensuality that I reached him and knew him and could turn him inside out for the reader. For Armand, images mean everything, be they ikons, or faces in paintings, or the face of Christ on Veronica's veil. Armand comes from the cold of Russia to the embracing warmth of Venice and down into the present time with a steely heart and a greediness for art and blood. Yet even in his worst pain he falls under the spell of two lost children. Ah, well, maybe I do love him. The book's transgressive. It's wicked. It's full of a boy's love for a man which turns gradually to a boy's love for a monster. It's about a child monk gone mad. It's about a child's heart made immortal.
