reblogs, likes, comments and asks are all highly appreciated! if this gets some interactions i may do a part 2 with..fun stuff wink wink!! i also apologise for how rushed the ending is, but i gave up lol
summary: you meet a cute guitarist at a party, that’s about it ^.^
word count; 4.2k
warnings; mentions of drugs, smoking (tobacco+marijuana, reader+kirk smoke cigs)
i have not proofread this yet so expect mistakes!!
the summer breeze is discouraging. desolate plants are surviving just barely under the malicious sun, like a record that just keeps on playing; the aftermath of the music, the seconds of muffled silence as the vinyl spins effortlessly, and you know you should just get up and remove the stylus, because the impracticalness of such a simple act of futility, could end up with a damaged record. and no one wants a damaged record.
there’s often a local yearn for the heat, summer always seeming too far away in winter, as the miserable humidity is replaced with a sharp winter, ice flakes cutting like blades, which to some, would be considered worse. and to this sum, the summer breeze may be a blessing.
everything about this place could be deemed as overstimulating. from the immense mass of people, all in garments that would never live to see the day in a public place, with such little material- could these things really be considered as clothes? and judging by the majority of party-goers, your opinion would be considered unpopular.
the concrete is hot to touch- the unsteady porch not doing much to help. it’s slightly better than inside the house, though.
it isn’t too big, it’s just too small. a perfectly adequate residence for someone in their mid 20s to occupy, and it looks it too. the entryway of the house is not only filled with coats and others of the sort, but all 4 of the cream coloured walls are adorned in posters. some are easily known- you recognise one in particular as a promotional poster for a new thrash band, the logo on the corner signifying that whoever owns this, got it fresh from a record store window.
entering though the hallway into the kitchen felt like a treacherous task for you, under the oppressive temperatures. sporting this thin sweater may have not been the right choice, you criticise.
there’s a table in the kitchen. well, the remains of a table. empty beer cans are scattered across, and a half full bowl of punch sits, patiently waiting for its next victim to intoxicate with its high levels of ethanol, and god knows what else. you pondered if fresh orange juice was used, or artificial.
you feel their eyes on you before you see it. and then a hands reaching out to you. skinny, nimble fingers connected to a tanned wrist, paired with a couple dainty, gold, probably fake, bracelets. and that tanned wrist connects to an equally tan body, (of course.)
you look at her quizzically. she’s got flowing hair, brown ribbons of curl that shone with an orange tint under the shitty, dingy lamp illuminating the cramped room. and then you gazed up at her again.
do you know her? does she know you?
staring unblinkingly at her, you realise, is probably very much off putting. it’s hard to take kindness from strangers, well, for most people. it’s even harder to tell if that kindness is genuine. you believe in the idea, quality, or quantity. at least that’s what you tell yourself- and it maybe the whole reason you ended up in this predicament.
she’s got a man on her arm. he’s tall, well, he’s taller than both you, and her. his long, blonde hair is looking a little ratty, and you know she must have thought the same too. you can also tell he’s been trying to grow out a ‘horse-shoe’ moustache, judging by the minor prickles of hair, and the subtle shaping.
he’s looking at you like a guard dog- and his expression is fully straight. you can’t tell if he’s one of those people, that show a hard exterior, but really, is the complete opposite, or, if he is really a dick and is gonna punch you if you stare any longer. choosing a safe option, you glance back at her.
“here,” she nudges you again. oh, she’s got a cup. it’s one of those cheap, red plastic cups you always see in the movies- the frat party ones. her presence is warm. she smiles warmly. is that a thing?
“get yourself a drink.” and then she’s opening up the palm of your hand, and tightening your fingers around the plastic rim.
you hum in surprise. it’s not every day a complete stranger is nice to you. infact, you can only count one specific time where this happened before. the one time that led to you coming to this party, through the kindness of a once mutual, now, you felt comfortable enough to consider, just a friend.
“oh! thank you.” you give the best, closed mouth wide smile you can, though it seems more like a grimace.
she doesn’t care. they’re already gone.
the next room is slightly more interesting than the last, a blue strobe light left in the corner. thought it’s not glowing in multi colours like it should be, instead it’s just illuminating the room, which could be the antithesis of something spacious, in a pale blue hue. it’s reflecting off onto an old, worn leather couch with multiple holes, which you can only assume are from cigarette stubs.
the whole house has some sort of retro style, which you appreciate.
the summer breeze, once discouraging, now borderlining on something sinister. could the sun really have malicious intent? or is the world just hell bent against you?- with your fashion choices not accommodated to the ever changing weather.
you pass a couple of groups- they don’t look older than you, though they don’t look younger. but the bodies on bodies is all too much to handle, when everyone’s body temperature has accumulated into one big cacophony, a spell for disaster.
every thing was getting too much.
the grandfather clock standing proud, ticking in a futile rhythm, back and forth, on and off, a constant reminder of the stench of sweat covered bodies and the metallic aroma of almost empty cans of beer, for the sticky residue left behind, which had escaped out of one too many discarded cans, and seeped into possibly every material in this cramped hole of a living space. the longer this party would go on, the harder it would be to call this room a living space. scrap that, this is an un-liveable space.
the atmosphere was fine. the people were fine. everything was fine minding it’s own, but together, seeming like a recipe for a symphony of destruction.
luckily for you, there was an out.
big wooden doors, with bigger glass panels, providing the only symbol of a once eloquent residence. the whole house was, well, not modern, but in a sense it didn’t carry this vintage-ness; like the decorations of choice did- so it was a nice touch. at least you thought.
and those big wooden doors, led you to your freedom, or in other words, the patio.
upon first examination, the garden was split into two groups. the outdoor couch sitting area, which provided just as many cigarette burns as the excuse of a couch inside, but longer, presenting itself in an ‘L’ shape. and on this couch, sprawled out were a group of people, all comfortable in very, odd? positions. wait, on a different thought, not all.
he was very pretty from a first glance, his chocolate curls fading into something more, like black ribbons of coal, though they shone with a red tinge under the harsh glow from the ongoing sunset.
you never stopped to notice the sunset.
but he looked almost rigid. he seemed reserved. he seemed different. it was like he had purposely tried to squeeze himself down the cracks of the sofa, for it to swallow him whole. but then again, he didn’t seem anxious.
he held a joint between nimble fingers. from a distance, you could make out the red rashes lining them, small bloody scars, in such a recognisable pattern that you just knew all too well, he had to play guitar. often. he was having trouble smoking it, though. intimate breaths of wind cascaded his locks to cover his pretty features, sticking to his chapped lips as he brought up the blunt and examined, close and personal.
you pondered if maybe, just maybe, he was like you too. practically a stranger to this new world before your eyes, lacking the confidence to do anything to change it. sure, you were confident in yourself, there was no reason for you not to be. just, in social situations like this, it would tend to falter.
oh, wait. no, you take it back.
the guard dog from before-hand sits tall beside the curly brunette. he seems to be ranting about something. the nice girls not by his side anymore. you wonder if anything happened between them.
the ratty blonde sported a goofy grin. so you were right. a labrador in disguise. you stole a few more glances, before continuing down your trail.
you didn’t think you’d fit into other group either. this was was more, energetic, a pile of sweaty messes, a cheap speaker blasting heavy metal, with a crispness to the speaker that could never be recreated with a new one, nor the sense of comfort that comes with it. something worn down, worn with love, like a jacket, peeling at the seams. a jacket that’s been well loved by someone, despite its flaws.
it was hard to concentrate on your thoughts and breathe pure air properly with the booming deathly melodie’s of ozzy osbourne blasting, the bass managing to shake a loose rope swing hanging from an old oak tree. you thought it must’ve been a gentle reminder of childhood.
the path continued to trail on, the melancholic rock dying it by a couple slight octaves. then it ended. a large, unsteady fence stood tall, and not very proud. a bench resided, with 2 more oak trees, one on each side, in a way to protect the bench, preserve the wood from heavy sunlight.
the bench wasn’t the most comfortable, but it served for what it could. it was obviously aged down through the years, so really, you couldn’t complain.
the view was pretty. the sun going down, with all these people enjoying themselves, it was a gorgeous sight. though it was funny you still hadn’t wandered into the small minority you knew yet. though you were growing impatient under this blanket of loneliness, itching for something that would burn, something to exhale.
the pocket of your worn jeans were loose- loose enough to know that if something wanted to fall out, by all means it could. and now, after futile attempts to find your lighter, you prayed to anyone that would listen, please say i haven’t lost it.
but alas, the gods still weren’t on your side. maybe it was something in the air, which bubbled up into a fit of internal rage, your three-quarters empty pack providing a strong sense of tobacco, laying lifeless in your rigid lap.
“need a light?”
he walked up awkwardly, intertwining his hands together. his blunt was gone, whether he had finished it himself or passed it on, you didn’t know. he smiled warmly, and if you blinked you would’ve missed it.
and all of a sudden the unbearable heat was back, sending a tinge to yours cheeks, feeling like being trapped inside a car under the scorching sun- but he didn’t look affected by the heat, in his black button up (half un-buttoned), infact, he looked angelic under the hues of reds, purples, and yellows, and whatever else fit into the mix.
he seemed nice; nice enough, to even suggest such an offer to a stranger.
“please.” you mumbled, and he warmly reached his hand out, a battered, black lighter, one of the cheap ones from the convenience stores, clasped loosely. he wiggled his fingers. revealing the lighter to your gaze, he emitted that same, goofy smile, only now revealing his crooked pearls.
he sat down on the bench.
“you don’t know many people here, huh?” he questioned. though his voice wasn’t judgy, nor threatening.
well, it’s great that your efforts to stay on the down low went out the door. it’s even greater to know that people have noticed your outstanding loneliness.
“is it that obvious?”
he stifled a laugh, shrugging slightly, sporting a wide grin. “that’s okay,” he muttered. “you know, i don’t know many either.”
the reality seemed embarrassing, and with anyone else, you would never, on your own life, admit it. but somehow, in this moment, everything was different.
he fixed his posture, resting his hands in his lap, his head turned towards you. you pursed your lips, a small smile gracing. he looked down to your lap, cigarette still in your hand, and signalled for you to raise it.
you quickly caught on, assuming he would just hand you the lighter after you placed the cigarette between your lips. he did not.
instead he leaned in closer, bringing one hand to cover one side of the cigarette, the other to light it up effortlessly. oh, i guess that works too.
you took a puff, the inhale longer than the exhale, the smoke a delicious burn in your lungs. resting the cigarette between 2 nimble fingers, you bit your chapped lip.
“i’m kirk, by the way.”
“hi kirk,” you grinned, and told him your name. he grinned back.
he fiddled with his fingers, cracking his knuckles with expertise. and then he points at your shirt. “i like fleetwood mac, too.”
hanging with kirk wasn’t so bad. actually it wasn’t bad, not at all. somehow minutes turned into shorter minutes, 60 seconds seeming to pass all too quick. and those minutes were quickly consumed by a larger number, a black hole that could be called hours.
the night air had turned chilly, the effects of a bipolar summer very clear. the arrival of goosebumps took place, and so did a great warmth, the crackle of a fire pit, and the smell of fresh wood, the aroma of smoke. legs now touching one another’s as a multitude of different people sat around in criss-cross positions.
but that wasn’t where you found yourself.
sitting in the passenger seat of his run down black 70s capri, a heavy scent of cologne mixed with a faint essence of weed, hanging lowly, stuck into the leather seats. the key clattered as he pushed it into the lock, the engine starting up with a fierce roar.
a conversation about music had somehow led you here, sitting almost shyly in his car, legs folded upon one another. it all started with a singular comment about fleetwood mac, and in a matter of minutes you found yourself immersed in conversation, somehow sitting close together than you had before, the heat of his breath radiating closely as he enthusiastically ranted about led zeppelin IV. and then some more, about who he believed to be his biggest inspiration, jimi hendrix.
oh yeah, you learnt he plays guitar too.
and with a declaration that he was hungry, sported with his reddened eyes, you were off. well, you were never really given the choice. your hand grasped tightly in his, excitedly taken back through the garden, through the shitty cramped living space, (and him accidentally walking into the smaller couch), back through the kitchen with bottles now empty, red plastic cups now scattered, through to the entry way. with that same, sweet thrash poster now hanging on.
and as the car roared up, so did the symphonies of rolling stones, because you can’t always get what you want.
“so the blonde one, he’s your friend?”
the melody of the rolling stones, switching to the doors, a mix-tape he probably burnt himself, disrupted. god bless jim morrison.
he raised a brow, though still looking at the road ahead, answering quizzically. “which blonde one?”
you bit back a smile. “the scary blonde one, with long hair. and the pretty girlfriend.”
this caused kirk to grin, shaking his head slightly to stop his hair from disrupting his view of the darkened roads. the streetlights didn’t go much to help accommodate pedestrians, nor drivers. the headlights of his vintage vehicle were slightly darker than the average, but he seemed used to it.
“ah, james. he’s my bandmate. scary, no, long hair, yes, girlfriend, no. he doesn’t do girlfriends,” he hummed lowly. “he’s one of my bestfriends.” james. you wondered if he was still with the girl you earlier assumed to be his girlfriend.
and then you sat in silence for maybe 30 seconds, maybe a full minute, pondering your next words. he didn’t seem to mind, waiting just slightly impatiently for the red light to turn green and give the get go. he rolled down the window.
“do you do girlfriends?” you asked suddenly. the longer it took for him to form a response, the more you regretted ever asking. maybe that was too forward for a guy you hadn’t even known for a full day. but then you could argue that him taking you out for dinner was even worse.
he was caught off guard, quickly masking his suprise. “i…don’t know,” he spun the wheel with skill as he turned left into a parking lot of a 50s presenting dinner, sporting a glowing red sign, walls painted once white now a light yellow. he stopped the car as he pulled into a parking spot, twisting the keys. the engine abruptly stopped, and so did the music. and then he turned to look at you, with a small smile. “do you do boyfriends?” and that was when you finally made eye contact.
shrugging slightly, you looked from his eyes to your lap, and back up to his eyes again. “i don’t know.”
his grin widened, and you return the gesture.
the gleaming lights of the diner held a stark contrast to the gloomy sky, the current time being in the early hours of the morning very obvious- and in a couple hours you’d start to hear the birds cheep and the sky lighten, and determine it time for bed.
he led you into the diner, holding the door open for you like a gentleman, the little bell on top of the door chiming in recognition of your arrival.
and from there he traveled with experience of the 24-hour diner, to a booth hidden in the corner, though still visible under the cream glare of the flickering lights; almost too visible, you thought, the brightness of the lights already forming a subtle headache in the back of your mind. the two comforts of the booth were separated with a nimble oak wood table, the sturdiness of it which had definitely gone down in its many years of occupying this place.
he grabs two menus before sitting down on one side of the booth, and you follow, sitting down on the other. he hands you one menu, and opens his own.
“i want a milkshake.” he murmurs, his eyes still scanning over the menu. you lean over the table, your menu left unopened, shifting slightly to examine the contents of drinks he was looking at.
“which flavour?” you question, slumping back into your seat.
“dunno,” he puts the menu down, looking up at you. “what flavour do you want?”
his eye contact is almost too much to handle, causing you to look back down at your hands. he doesn’t comment on it, that is if he ever even noticed the slight tint of blush on your cheeks.
“vanilla.” throughout the options of chocolate, strawberry, and banana, there’s a clear winner.
“then that’s what we’ll get.” he smiles, his red hued eyes crinkling at the corners as he grins. you bite the side of your lip, suppressing a grin, sporting a one sided, shy smile as you try to resettle your composure.
you open the menu, trying to distract yourself from the flush on your cheeks and the man sitting infront of you. his curls drop down as he tries to push them out of his face, watching you almost shyly.
“what are you gonna get?” you voice, finally looking up from the menu.
he tucks his black coils behind his ears. “the burger,” and then leans down slightly, his elbows making contact with the table, his eyes still on you. “do you wanna share?”
you nod, grinning widely. “okay, we’ll share.”
the diner lights flicker again, as well as the chime of the door, the slight rush of wind causing an appreciate breeze. there’s an empty coffee cup on the bar side, and an imprint in a red stool.
adorned in a teal coloured uniform, a tired, and pissed, (probably a college student), waitress takes your order. she doesn’t bother to put on a fake persona, and you don’t blame her. infact, you almost feel sorry that her nap in the staff room was cut short, by the puffiness of her eyes. as for kirk, he doesn’t even bat an eye at her as you order politely, his eyes still fixtated on you.
and in mere minutes the food arrives, a vanilla milkshake with a candied red cherry on top already in your grasp. kirk has taken to the task of trying to cut the burger evenly into 2 pieces, through frowns when he’s cut one slice bigger than the other. you take the smaller piece, knowing the effects of weed on your hunger. when he realises this, he pouts. “i’m not that hungry,” you explain, taking your first bite.
he pushes the fries further towards you. they’re in a wooden tray, with a tissue adorned with patterns of red and white squares underneath. you chew throughly before swallowing, setting the burger back down on the plate.
he reaches out for a fry, surprising you when he reaches even further towards you, bringing the fry up to your mouth. you take it, giggling.
while you chew on the fry with one hand, you pick up the milkshake with the other and bring the straw to his mouth, mimicking his previous movements. he smiles widely as he takes down a big gulp, laughing through his closed mouth. “wait, that’s so good.”
“i know!” you exclaim, taking a couple of salty fries from the bunch.
you dip a handful of fries into the milkshake, and he grimaces. “that’s criminal!”
you roll your eyes, giggling. “no it’s not,” you dip another one in. “you just don’t have taste.” he finishes his part of the burger ravenously, and you push the plate with your half eaten burger towards him.
“are you sure?” he questions, looking for any signs of unsureness on your face.
“only if i can have the cherry.” you bargain.
“deal,” he picks the cherry off from the top of the milkshake, wiping the whipped cream off from it with his finger, then bringing his finger to his mouth. he reaches out to give you the cherry. “here you go, m’lady.”
you let out another high pitched laugh, bringing the cherry to your plump lips and nibbling on the stem. the waitress cringes at the sound, leaning her head down in her hands and closing her eyes. you pity her.
kirk finishes the burger quickly, his next mission being reaching out for the fries. you’re not sure if he’s just got the munchies, or if he’s also even eaten today.
and soon enough, you’re flopping back into your seat, empty dishes covering the table. kirk is leaning towards you, smiling softly. you yawn, covering your face with a soft hand.
“you tired?” he murmurs, tilting his head as he smiles sweetly. you make a quiet sound, similar to a hum, and his smile grows. “okay,” he reaches over the table for your hand. “let me take you home.”
and then once again, your back in his passenger seat, the smell of cologne and marijuana now comforting. he puts the key in as softly as he can, and the second the car roars to life he takes it to himself to turn the radio down to the lowest level, looking over at you. you’re slumped in the seat, your head towards the window. he just grins.
the sky isn’t so dark anymore, a greyish dark blue, with a slint orange before sunrise. “i’m gonna need you to give me directions, ‘mkay?” he pulls out of the car park as you respond quietly, giving him the directions.
a few minutes into the ride, you realise he’s going miles below the speed limit, to keep the car steady, and not pull you out of your sleepy state. he’s humming along to the radio, his finger tapping the wheel at every beat.
trees pass in a flash, so do streetlights and benches, sets of three drains, and a couple single drains too.
then time flashes again and he’s pulling up outside your apartment, already outside the passenger door and beating you to open it. he walks you to the doorway of the building, stopping and playing with his hands.
you look up at him, smiling shyly. he does the same. “thank you for tonight, kirk,” you hesitantly open the building door. “do you wanna, maybe, do this again?”
“o-of course. i’d love to.” if you blinked, you would’ve missed the slight flush tinting his cheeks, rushing down into his neck and shoulders. he fumbles in his pocket for a piece of ripped newspaper and a pen, scribbling down his home phone number in messy writing, and if it was anything but numbers you’d have a hard time reading it. “call me, okay?”
“okay.” you grin softly, stepping into the doorway.
he backs up, smiling as he waves you off. “okay.”
and then the door shuts.

Headcanons I've written in my discord server over the span of ~10 months
Warnings: Lust mentioned at the very end, will be under a cut, The last part of Horror's section is also under the cut for an implied ED, and emetophobia
Misc/AU instead of Sans related, multiple at once:
All actual Sanses have the same birthday, but they celebrate their creation days as one too, if they know it most Sanses talk in sans-serif type fonts Only Classic talks in Comic Sans Dream, Nightmare, and Fresh don't talk in a sans serif font at all Error's* font is also different Outertale: When you're in a quiet spot, you can actually hear the stars twinkle (hc inspired by a part of my comfort MLP fan animation Snowdrop) AUs have cultural differences, and I'm not talking about stuff that's obvious like Underfell You know how some creators speak more than just english? What if it's because their underground is located under a mountain in a different part of the world Not only do AUs have different languages sometimes but also different accents
Classic
Classic doesn't have inside or outside clothes, he sleeps with the clothes he wears outside He'd love Weird Al's music Would absolutely wear crocs Smells faintly like books and chemicals even if he hasn't been in a library or lab recently Do you think he washes that jacket if it's not stained? Absolutely not Sci: smells like plastic wrapped books that have just been opened
Killer
is really good at pretending to be sober when drunk (In the more fanon bad sanses dynamic) forces the rest of the bad sanses do take stupid BuzzFeed quizzes Smells like handwritten books Stage 1/2 has a lot of quiet moments where he just analyses listens to Set It Off
Cross
listens to Nightcore music & Set It Off
hogs blankets
Cross, I love you...you use axe body spray
Absolutely illegal that people think Cross is taller than Dream, he's shorter
Any time Cross and Epic are in a room together, they're glued to each others side even if theyre currently arguing
Nightmare
has a high alcohol tolerance, you can't tell me those apples weren't rotten enough to be alcoholic would talk in the Money Penny font
Ink
The star sanses go to cafes and judge people's outfits jokingly, as if Ink with his toeless socks can judge anyone
Their alcohol tolerance is highly dependand on what vials he drinks before
sends either an insane amount of small voice notes or one really long one, no in between
They're strong enough to pick people up but it looks so funny because they're so short
Ink, as a parent, would be the exact opposite of those 'Beige moms'
He refuses to deprive his kids of sensory input like that Would be fascinated by Killer's soul
They sneeze like a dad
Coffee has no effect on them
We all agree his vials are like mental illness medication right?
Error:
Can hear Undertale's soundtrack sometimes and it drives him wild
*His font is partially comic sans, partially other sans serif fonts
Gets headaches very easily
Smells like comic books, especially those that smell more like printer ink
We already know Error's eyesight is shit, but it's especially horrible and close to nonexistent on his smaller eye
Geno
Soul beats very unevenly
gets drunk really easily bc he's constantly bleeding, so there's less alcohol-free blood in his system for it to filter out (cough cough CPAU)
I feel like he would die from a sip of energy drink
Once he gets to the surface, he'll suffer from chronic headaches and other pains
He would would drop his backstory exactly the way dads drop Dad Lore (if you know, you know)
Geno looks like a coffee drinker but drinks tea
Smells like old books, specifically dry basement ones
Reaper
has haphephobia that stems from his death touch
At the same time, touch starved af
He drinks coffee despite having tea drinker vibes to people
Fell
Sometimes he just imagines random shit happening that would make him angry, and then gets angry over that
His summer outfit is the exact same but a sleeveless sweater under his jacket instead of a normal one
can only make 3 recipes and burns those sometimes too
giggles after getting kissed (he will deny this)
Uses Old Spice deo
Short king short king
has shoplifted before
Swap/Blue
gets hungry really fucking quickly
(I have a huge hc list specifically for him)
Dream
is a coffee drinker
He gives me the vibes of old people trying to use modern slang, but doing so incorrectly
sucks at modern technology
Once he finds out about emojis, it's over for everyone
is into astrology
the opposite of a Disney princess. Animals don't like him
Dream's insults hit harder than Nightmare's, he just knows what hurts you
High alcohol tolerance
Ccino
exhausted
has a Morning Special he makes himself before working at his cafe. It has way too much caffeine in it
One day Dream walked into his cafe, Ccino took a good look at him and gave him his Morning Special™
Only certain people can drink it though - this means both that only some tolerate it, but also that Ccino only gives it to some
Dust/Murder
Soul beats faster than others' souls
has absolutely horrible posture
jumps to conclusions easily
Dust hated Swap as soon as he first met him
I mean, Dust doesn't like himself much for he did, ESPECIALLY to his brother
So a Sans who acts kinda like a Papyrus? Nuh uh
Is this the basis of Dustberry?
Anyway
Smells like an old, slightly burnt book
Concept: Phantom Papyrus but he used to be a hallucination that turned into an actual ghost somehow -> Phantom and XChara can see each other
Horror
doesn't like horror movies much
he's seen enough shit
Likes chickens
Hc for fanon horror: cooking for the bad sanses, at first didn't trust anyone else
Canon Horror probably can't cook very well
Faint smell of damp books
TW ED, TW Lust
Horror has moments where he binge eats and then regrets it later
Lust
Is like the only Sans who enjoys warm weather
Infertile, compromises by being a cool ass babysitter
Loves flowers
A tea drinker
Transatlantic accent
Listens to Mitski
When he's looking at something he likes/loves, his eye lights turn monster soul shaped instead of heart shaped

The Sound of Silence: Lyric Commentary
I'm quite happy with the response that this contest generated this week, and I'm thoroughly impressed with the variety of music that I got to see everyone choose! From classic rap to soundtracks, indie to musicals, it really goes to show that there are so many ways to connect with lyrics across the board. I've been trying to do more mechanical-oriented contests as of late after a slew of flavorful ones. Contests like this seem to tread a medium ground.
My favorite overall aspect of this week is how those variations in music either influenced or completely changed one's approach to the song. Many cards had themes that were directly connected to the world of Magic and intentionally shifted the context of the lyrics, but for others, I feel that the lyrics helped drive the card's creation. I liked seeing the ways in which people allowed their love of music to make new cards!
My overall mechanical critique is a reminder about space and punctuation. Magic cards are limited by the amount of characters you can fit into a title, and there's only so much room for flavor text as well. In the real world of card processes, there would be someone who would ask for flavor text on cards that needed them, but seeing as we're acting in mechanical, creative, AND visual space, it's something to be cognizant of. Additionally, I saw a lot of semicolon misuse this week. Semicolons are for separating two like ideas that could be connected but lead into each other naturally; they can't replace the function of commas or emdashes.
But my song's almost been sung, SO: here are the entries and commentary! If you see a card with JUDGE PICK next to it, that means it was either a) in the running and there just wasn't space, or b) there was a specific cool thing about it that I wanted to highlight for the crowd. One, two, three, four—
@an-anarchist-shapeshifter — End the Feud "Time will Change You" by The Crane Wives
I feel a sense of disconnect between the notion of equal pacifism and the mechanical implications. Perhaps the king and the elves are each representative of the green and white here, but then there's the fact that everyone's graveyards are exiled and only you get the benefit. Of course, there's no way that giving your opponents the counters would be reasonable. In that instance, perhaps one compromise would've been to not necessarily display the truce, but also a force for the future. After all, wouldn't you be swinging in pretty hard after this?
Still, the ability to really beef up a board through lots of graveyard shenanigans is just what a GW deck could use against a more control-oriented matchup. Personally I'd phrase it "where X is the number of cards exiled from your graveyard this way" instead of "owned," because it's more intuitive to me. Yeah, it's the same thing, but regardless. And it's a good swing in still! I think the bottom line is that I wanted for there to be a more direct connection between the trajectory of these two kingdoms and how the player would use this to then claim some manner of victory. The intended mood matches the lyrics but could've used a different mechanical angle if you wanted to stick with the notion of peace. A lifegain spell might've been reasonable as well.

@arixordragc — Disdainful Dragon "Judgement" by Caamora)
I'm quite familiar with the card Disdainful Stroke. I'm also familiar with the cost and its effects. I'm baffled as to why the choice to name a card ostensibly after a specific spell would lead to an inverted effect here. Why mana value 4 or less? Yeah, maybe someone would be disdainful of those underneath them as the lyric suggests, but most of the Disdainful Strokes that we've seen have flavorfully been about dismissing the greater displays of power from those above you. The choice to invert that feels incongruous to me.
The card's perfectly fine, I suppose, even if the flavor text is kinda squished in there. It's a good draft mythic and could see sideboard play. Really, though, the whole concept of the card feels like it should've been built around the spell in question and the fact that it isn't frustrates me somewhat. I want to hear about the decision for that later if you're around and about to tell it.

@bergdg — One More Light "One More Light" by Linkin Park
Yeah, it's a great little one-drop. Combat tricks like this are fun for limited and good for constructed in the right situations. I like the stipulation for the counter. Did you ever consider having an effect that would do something else if the permanent wasn't a creature? I suppose that the bonus is fine enough for white. The flavorful portion of this card is pretty strongly in white's wheelhouse, and that's something that really solidifies it in this unique position.
What is the value of a single entity to the colors? I suppose Blue would have each individual categorized, Black would have each individual counting themselves first, Red would fight for each individual's brightness to shine, and Green recognizes that each light has a purpose. But it's white's capacity to care from one light to another first that matters. The ellipses in the flavor text is grammatically awkward to me, and really should've been removed, but the sentiment's what matters here. Ultimately a great connection that speaks to the color pie, I say. Maybe not the most staggering effect, but eh, combat tricks are always worth it to someone.

@bread-into-toast — Weight of the Worldsoul "Good Luck Babe!" by Chappell Roan
I'm always struck by the effort of the art here. The new enchantment frames really make this pop for sure, and with this kind of really wild effect, it's a feast for the senses. That said, mechanics matter more here, so I'll stop that particular praise to tell you that I wish there was a more coherent way to phrase this effect. Coherent? More succinct is what I mean. I grok it, of course, and there are plenty of effects that do this sort of thing, but it's a heck of a mouthful.
Being able to shut off someone's cards like this is often much better than just removing them, though, even if it gets them mana. Sacrificing a creature is still totally doable if it's just got Pacifism on it, and instant-speed Aura removal is a lot worse when it's on a Planeswalker you control. Could "Enchant creature, planeswalker or land" roll off the tongue easier? Is there a tried-and-true 'you must do this' order to these things? At this point I usually go with intuition. As far as the Worldsoul and whatever goes, I like the interpretation of the lyrics to this kind of overwhelming effect. Like, damn, yeah, being interconnected to all of life and nature really can be a burden. I don't believe that Chappell Roan was talking about that exactly but who knows, maybe she's a planeswalker in disguise. I suppose in the end you've got a lot of funky words on a funky card, but it's a heck of an interesting card for what it's worth.

@cthulhusaurusrex — Lead Pipe Languages "Ballskin" by MF DOOM
What a fantastic reference choice of lyric-to-card-presentation you've got here. I think that anyone looking at this art would certainly understand the homage, although the name is somewhat... Well, not to tie things up, but it's kind of blunt all things considered. Maybe I would expect there to be more bludgeoning in the connection; as someone who's a fan of the esoteric, it's a wee bit too esoteric to pass the test of player comprehension.
The mechanics are certainly reminiscent of the Silverquill power, and it was a fair enough choice to have the power of language and the rap references align here. The fact that you can turn Auras into enchantment creatures is a bit of an oversight considering how they would immediately die. And since when do the Silverquill care about enchantments or enchantment creatures? Yes, I know that it would be more to the point of having this card work in a specific constructed shell, but unless this is intended to present a completely new leap here, I don't see the exact connection. Maybe if there are more Silverquill cards in the future they'll be able to delve into this space. Other than that, the 'why' of this card is still lost on me.

@dimestoretajic — Graveyard Smash (JUDGE PICK) "Monster Mash" by Bobby Pickett
It's a perfectly reasonable card that smashes with flash, if your casting is ramped to amp up the crash of nasty ghasts to cash their massive axes and gash the aghast. Plus, exiling someone else's graveyard so that they can't get their own creature reanimated is pretty awesome too. I didn't expect for someone to go with a song that's a little...sillier? I should've expected that more, honestly, it's kinda silly myself that I didn't. Maybe I was thinking of more personal songs for people, more poetic. But hey, maybe there's sentimentality for you, I ain't one to judge. Except in the position whereupon I'm the judge.
And I'm judging that flavor text just a little bit, just because it feels a little obvious for what you're going for. It's not bad, of course, and I like how there's a little bit of that implied silliness with a hooligan horde of graverobbers coming in to dig up a bunch of graves as fast as they can before bouncing. Maybe I would've liked some more of the result of the looting, like how after they'd heard about the security, there wasn't a still shovel for weeks, or how the sounds of tilled earth and cracked granite kept everyone up, or maybe how it even startled the ghosts—yadda yadda yadda. Reanimating from an eff-yours-got-mine is awesome, and I love the name because of how absurd the portrayal is! There's a poetic extra mile that really could've pushed it, but take the thumbs-up for what it is.

@feyd-rautha-apologist — Ignite the Drive (JUDGE PICK) "Extras (Elphelt's Theme)" by Molly Daisy & Daisuke Ishiwatari
I'm guilty for not knowing anything about Guilty Gear. Frankly, I don't play that many video games in the first place. What I do know is that goblins also don't listen to safety regulations and also, Vehicles don't have enough of this effect—honestly, there isn't any effect quite like this, not as simple, and I enjoy it a lot. Whatever limited environment that this could go in, it knows what it's asking for. Good topdeck when you need that last creature and don't have what you need to power your vehicles.
There's this energy that the song brings and this Magic-themed matching energy that feels aligned even without that direct connection between the nice young lady in the thumbnail and the motorhead in the art description. Maybe the exclamation points in the flavor text are a little much, but aside from that, this was a competitive week and I still want to commend this card for its strength of mood and overall kick-assery.
~
@frognarch — Ruler's Acquisition "C.R.E.A.M." by Wu-Tang Clan
It's a damn cool image, that's for sure. Something tells me that "cash" as a concept isn't the most in-line with most Magic universes, and that's really the most difficult part of this card to contend with flavorfully; the fact that it's the flavor text that you chose is, well... I might just not be the right audience for sunglasses-wearing skulls. What this card sets out to do, I imagine, is to display a more contemporary take that's connected to the music, as opposed to finding a niche in a specific/established plane. And that's fine if that's what you're setting out to do! For most contest criteria, I'm just a little more straightedge with it.
The mechanics are what I really want to tinker with here, because goodness gracious there's some powerful stuff moving around. I will say that there's a small issue in power balance for constructed for sure. Swinging in and getting your Treasures with any kind of earlier treasure support means that you can, at instant speed, snatch up your opponents blockers and effectively ensure that they don't play the game. If this was a rare that sacrificed itself to gain control of another creature, I'd be a lot more down for that. Repeatedly and permanently gaining control of other players' stuff is a feelbad for just about any format. If that's still what you're after, then you might want to secure more hoops to jump through, because the threshold of five Treasures in the right shell is a lot easier to get to than you might think.
~
@horsecrash — Wanderlust (JUDGE PICK) "Metal Detector" by They Might Be Giants
So far, Glowcap Lantern is the closest that any other card's come to this effect, and it's kinda strange that that's the case. It's a damn powerful effect, but having to hit on contact doesn't make it any more powerful than, say, Sticky Fingers or whatever. Less so without evasion, honestly. And that's good! Balanced commons are indeed good, no matter what the folks on the internet might say. They don't say otherwise, I don't know why I said that. Auras in limited are pretty undervalued, and in the end I think that having this in a shell with flying evasion would be the best bet. Whether or not I'd play it is kinda up in the air.
What I do like about this card that's commendable enough for a JP is the natural manner in which the flavor text as a fragment defines the aura, and also turns around the song to something that feels distinctly Magic-related. Yep, it's exactly that, that's how we're defining "wanderlust" for green, and I think it clicks in very well. Usually I'm not as down for fragments, but you make it make sense here because its parts of speech are enhancing what's being demonstrated through gameplay. This card should be notable for anyone reading this as an example of how grammar can work for you when you're writing your own original flavor text. Also, hell yeah TMBG.

@izzet-always-r-versus-u — Trust Deceived "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" by The Offspring
[image description: a scene through Kellan's POV - on the ground in the midst of the crossfire in Tarnation, vision going dark at the edges, hand outstretched, watching Oko walk away from him.]
Something something two nickels. Anyway, it's a pretty rough pseudo-counterspell, and I like the way that your art direction places us. It's been a while since I've read the OTJ story. With that snippet of the lyrics in the title, I guess I understand it, but it's a little underwhelming for a choice. Maybe that's the hard part about having lyrics for a title—you don't get all the nuance that a longer sentence might bring. But I'm also not opposed to it, and if I'm generous, seeing this card in an OTJ pack would make me pretty happy to play blue. Blue was really damn powerful in OTJ. Makes me nostalgic, really.
The first line is the only one that needs a mechanical change, I think. Were you going for more of a Deflecting Swat kind of deal? Honestly I don't know why that one is a "may," but whatever. In that case, you might want to actually word it like Sideswipe. Yes, from CHK. Because OTJ had cards with multiple targets, the ability to change any number of them would've been awesome. Against a full-spree Metamorphic Blast or Rustler Rampage? Hell yeah. That said, I'm glad that this card doesn't have Spree, and that was a fair choice. Maybe stunning a creature as a last resort is a feelsbad at rare, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and options are what really makes a rare card rare. The fact that just about all these things were found on OTJ spells actually makes me less inclined to think that that's the environment where you imagined this, but tell me what your thought process was—I'm curious!

@levelzeo — Let Me See Your Bones "Skeleton Appreciation Day" by Will Wood and the Tapeworms
Weirdly enough, for reasons that I don't have a specific example for, this card doesn't work within the layers. I've attached the link below as to why, but the TL;DR is that modifying creature types happens in layer 4 and P/T stuff happens in layer 7. If you want to change a creature's type, it can't be contingent on its colors, abilities, or P/T as a static effect. Intuitive? No. Rulesworthy? Yes. This is one of the first cards in a while where I've actually had to investigate this! You learn something new every day. And it's a shame, because I really like how this card plays out.
Getting everything to be a X/1 Skeleton and having them party hard with each other is really cool for making the board a bunch of boney boys, and the length of the title is awesome with flavor text that takes from the song as well. Like, this is a skeleton love letter and I think that all the elements technically come together very well! It's a shame that there's not really an easy way to go about the effect that you're looking for without some weird wording and/or targeting and stuff. Small note: you're using MSE, correct? Using "Chop Bottom" in the Style tab will make it so that your FT doesn't get covered by a stamp.

@melancholia-ennui — Moment of Doubt "The Getting By II" by The Killers
Once more the semicolon of separation comes in to rattle my bones. Argh! Small potatoes, though, for a card that's got some heavy emotions that come with it. I think that there's something to be said for how you've gone about this concept from a flavorful perspective, some kind of lost faith. The Theros Gods in particular being contingent upon belief is an interesting one, because there's that feeling of outsider doubt that makes cards like this that much more profound in-universe, to say nothing of the profundity outside of it. I wonder if the FT could've been just as fine with "When I look up, all I see is sky" attributed to one of the figures. It says enough without the rhyme to make it feel lyrical, no?
I don't think we need to delve into the mechanics as much as the flavor's getting to me, honestly, but I'll do my damndest anyway. After all, it's a fun take on the white boardwipes that we've been seeing these days with the draw stuff, and I think I'm a fan of how it reflects belief as something that can still accrue meaning despite the doubt being more powerful than said belief. Still, it should read: "Each player who controls an Avatar, God, Demigod, and/or legendary enchantment" because otherwise one could argue that someone who controls both somehow wouldn't draw a card. Semantics! Yes, that's a dumb take. Yes, someone would actually argue that if they found themselves in that situation. Yes, boardwipes are awesome in limited. And yes, I do particularly like the inclusion of Avatar in there, actually. It's a nice touch.

@mildewpyre — Dreamless Dorm/Ticking Clock "Burn My Dread" by Yumi Kawamura
I am...more or less confused by what this card seeks to accomplish. Your opponent has basically no chance to react to Dreamless Dorm when you cast it, right? So why is it worded as a trigger like that? Playing a creatureless control deck that ensures you maximize that value is a bit uninteractive in limited, and with a majority of Magic back-and-forth being tied to creatures these days, having a burn spell that can deal a ridiculous amount of damage for that little mana isn't what I'd call a fun card. And then you have the card that changes life totals being one that follows after that, for seven mana? I'm not sure what the process was for how this card was intended to work.
If I'm being generous, I'd say that playing Dreamless Dorm and then swinging in incentivizes your opponents to block with a little more fatalism in mind before maximizing the damage that your own creatures would do to you. That's also if you're running creatures in the first place, which if you're doing limited, you'd have to do in order to get anywhere. But that's pure conjecture and that's nothing to be said for how Ticking Clock really doesn't mesh with the Dorm in the first place. What's with the name-to-gameplay connection, too? And why did you include flavor text on an Aftermath card? I'll assume this is supposed to be rare, too, but I'll be honest: this card feels like the idea for a Persona-themed card came took over the actual card design. Theming is important but it can't come at the cost of a cohesive card structure.

@nine-effing-hells — Throw Off the Shackles "Defying Gravity" by Stephen Schwartz
I read one of the books in the series many years ago, but I've never been too into Wicked like a lot of people I know. Never really delved into theatre as much as I should've. Still, when you have a green-skinned ostracized character being unjustly maligned, might as well roll with it, right? I guess that the only thing I have against this card is the fact that I don't sense any sort of "game" that one might associate with the Azorius? Like, is that how a Golgari character would see the relationship? I have a hard time buying that just because it's a specific kind of back-and-forth where the powerful figure(s) need to take themselves less seriously in order for a game to be recognized. IMO the Azorius take themselves way too seriously for this FT to be the best application.
Still, the effect is something that we haven't seen too much of re:Aura destruction, and looking at all the Auras that Ravnica has to offer from the Azorius, I like what the gameplay and AD could do with one another! Getting that sense of tethering severance feels both strong for Black on both fronts, and the indestructible is another cool aspect that I like about the combat tricks Black has to offer. Determination is a quality that we've been seeing more of in Black. Bringing that out to this card is actually quite impressive considering how well the execution flows.

@piccadilly-blue — Baron Von Marlon "Too Much Brandy" by The Streets
Honestly, I didn't listen to too many of the songs that people had sent in, either because I didn't have the time, and/or the genre didn't appeal to me, and/or I had already heard the artists and could get the vibe from that. You, on the other hand, piqued my interest, and—well, I'm not sold, but I'm far from turned off, and more staggered than anything. Staggering suits this character well, now that we're on the topic, and the mood is by far the strongest thing about this card. I don't mean the mood of the AD, but the whole mood. This character is pretty damn awesome. I don't think it would be a safe idea to go out partying with them, but, y'know, I'd follow them on Rakblr.
I feel that I'm kinda missing the context for where you imagine the gameplay to fit in here. Rakdos gameplay is something that's rather hard to pin down, although having a guy sobering up to eventually pummel you in the face is pretty reasonable. Not that he's the strongest, though, and without that history of -1/-1 counters, I'm left wondering where you're expecting this archetype to go, if anywhere. But is that really the concern of this card? Maybe you're going strictly for mood, and that succeeded immensely. I just wish I didn't have to stop that mood and question it against where the card itself is taking me. Feels like I'm ruining the vibe, y'know?

@real-aspen-hours — Ghouls Gambit "Drink with the Living Dead" by Ghoultown
[Art: a zombie dressed in tattered cowboy attire is sitting at a table, across from a living person. Both have shot their thunder pistols at each other, knocking cards and shot glasses off the table. The human reels back from the shot, while the zombie only gives a skeletal grin as the attack pierces him, to no effect.]
Was this supposed to be "Ghoul's" or "Ghouls'" with a possessive? Either way, sorry about not having the full spree there, but I haven't found the place to add the [+] for the upper-right on Spree cards. Ah well. It's certainly a functional Spree card, and it's a shame that Unfortunate Accident is also a card here to take that second mode and make it feel slightly more derivative. But deathtouch/indestructible is a perfectly fine way of making combat that much stronger, so yeah, for five mana you can control some interaction. That's worth it for me as a black instant! Not breaking ground necessarily, but it's got what it needs.
Simple cards are then reliant on the strength of their flavor in order to get the point across. Where we land here is the midpoint of having the flavor text not exactly enhancing but not exactly repeating what's being presented via the art. Maybe as a warning or an attribution it could've gone somewhere. Poetically, the warning that's in the song preempts the result (the "would") and as such there might still be an element of surprise. Not so much here, though. I think the quote "Try to match me shot for shot" might have been a better application of the song, honestly, to match both the humor and immediacy. Not a bad connection considering OTJ overall, but I was hoping for slightly more substance.
~
@sparkyyoungupstart — Fable to Fighter "One Week" by Barenaked Ladies
In no other Magic timeline could this lyric be applicable. And I actually think it's pretty great here! Do they have movies on Kamigawa yet? I mean, they have cameras and chips, but I don't know for sure about films. I think it's cute enough for me to suspend my disbelief. I'm still a big fan of Kamigawa when I can ignore the turntables and headphones and allow for neon mechanics to be their own form of magical joy. Does that bring me out of this immersion? No, although it's still really clear that the lyrics were what shaped the card and that there was a bit of a forced meshing here. Not a bad meshing, mind! Just a pretty clear point of contact.
As for the ability, historic permanents turning alive also feels pretty cool from a manifestation standpoint. That said, Vengeant Earth is where you want the wording to be: "Target historic permanent you control becomes a 4/4 Samurai creature with first strike in addition to its other types until end of turn." Sometimes you can ignore the "base" stuff, y'know? All depends on precedent. It's a fairly strong effect, I'd say, good for a combat trick, good for combat math. The actual gameplay might not be doing anything particularly crazy, but I loved playing with Historic in limited, and that ticks off a box for me. Having a lot forced into the box of these lyrics is still a bit tongue-in-cheek. Again, I'm smiling as I'm writing this. Take that however ya want.
~
@tanknspank — Two-Toned Echoes "Who Brings Shadow" by Masayoshi Soken
I'm slowly learning that the intersection of Final Fantasy enthusiasts and Magic players is a lot stronger than I first realized. As someone with absolutely no connection to the game I'm a little struck by the whole presentation, so that's a good start. Squishing that name into the adventure, on the other hand, is a little forced, and you and I both know that I don't have to tell you twice. Two-Toned Echoes, eh? Look, I'm gonna level with you: it's a weird name for a card. Explicitly referring to Magic's color system in-game has been done before, but there's a reason that it's fallen out of favor, and I think there could've been a little more separation before jumping into this name as a first choice. But, you had to abide by the lyrics, and as far as prismatic things go, I'm willing to envision an adventure-y sensation wherein some figure is leaping over their past and future selves in a rainbow-colored array of joy.
Tumbling Through Time is a fine card by itself as well. Look, overall I think that this card is really good and grokable. What am I hesitant about, then? Something's prodding me, and it may just be the arrangement of lyric and adventure, which IIRC you pointed out in the submission process. "Lost in the Flood" could've been fine—I just checked it, heh—but no, that wasn't what you wanted from this card. Maybe that's just what happened with a few cards from this contest: it's just so apparent when the desire to get the lyrics is evident on the cards, and it's no longer blended together. What does that matter in the end, I suppose? Love trumps immersion. I'm still gonna critique it a bit but only 'cause that's my job.
~
@wildcardgamez — The Fire "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel
Just so it's out there in front of this, I did note that the title (or part of the title) of the song shouldn't be what the name/flavor took from. Kinda not in the spirit of the lyric contest. But regardless, here we are, and we've got The Fire here. It's living up to its name, I suppose? It's basically "You can cast two spells, but watch out" which really means "Your opponents should only cast one spell each turn." It's an easily contained fire, that's for sure. I don't think it's living up to the legendary stature of its title or its flavor because of that. Maybe it's a sideboard card against combo decks and big spell decks, but I'd hope there would be bounce removal or whatever for it.
I think that you aimed a little too high here for an effect that's far too abstract for what's reasonable. It feels less like you were designing with the lyric in mind and more that you took the song and tried to apply it to the Magic world in an 'epic' way. And that's admirable, but IMO the contest was looking for less macroscopic approaches. Who's the speaker? Is this the effect or a story about the effect? Is there a plane in question? Mystique can bring intrigue, but in this case it's obscuring the larger idea that the card is asking for.
~
@xenobladexfan — Gunborg, Starnheim Gatekeeper (JUDGE PICK) "Wir fliegen" by Cyua & Hiroyuki Sawano
I'm trying so hard to picture the epic art that your illustration is going for, and yes, I can absolutely see the valkyrie with their weapons guarding a withered world tree. I'm also a veteran of the Kingdom of Loathing and that's taking over so much of my visual memory right now. But, this isn't about the art, innit? It's about a pretty darn good angel-to-non-angel ratio and having these cards slam in the air. Having even one or two angels makes all the ground attacks and deaths that much better, and I'd like to think that they're talking to another angel in the FT—to the player, even, as a guardian. I like that a lot!
I didn't think "Untap them" should be its own sentence but I guess we have The Fifth Doctor as kinda-precedent. I dunno, seems a little wonky but not that wonky at all. Really, there's not much to actively dislike about this card at all. The name's a lot longer than it needs to be, and "Gunborg" sounds fairly unserious for a serious card, but those a little nitpicks to be fixed in post. You took the lyrics and you fulfilled the prompt in a way that coincided with Magic's multiverse in a pleasant and almost poignant manner. So kudos to you!
~
@yourrightfulking — Stray from the Path "Ghost Light" by TheFatRat & Everglow
Let's start with the mechanics here, which are what I like the best. This card should for sure be an uncommon, because a two-mana exile spell, even multicolored, is still quite powerful. Being able to rescue one of your own untapped creatures and/or bounce it is fun too. Really, besides a complexity spike that also justifies this card as uncommon, I think that there's a lot to be intrigued by here! I'm a huge fan of the various UW tempo/control shells, so I'll admit that I'm a little more biased towards these effects personally.
As for how the lyrics/flavor interact, though, I think that I could've used a little bit of context here. Maybe there's a voice that's taking wandering kids or survivors and schwooping them away, where attackers are punished but bystanders aren't? I don't think I have enough information with what you're presenting here to get a clear understanding of what your card is supposed to depict. Conjecture is fine, of course, but I want more than conjecture when it comes to these sorts of things, because I can't really judge my own presumptions. Upping the rarity and giving a little more definition to the showcase could've turned me onto this card as much as I was wanting, all things considered.

I watched the second fma Netflix adaptation. Here’s the best of my notes:
They had the whole fma original soundtrack to use for this movie and tHEY DIDNT??
Purification arts of Xing?? Just call it Alcehestry like they do in the show?? (No I didn’t spell it right I was noting stuff as I went and didn’t look it up)
Okay the weird pause before Lan Fan pulled out the smoke bomb…
ITS AN ACTUAL BOMB?????
Lots of weird pauses and slow-mo’s to mimic anime fights but it reads weird as live action and I don’t like it
HUGHES THANK FUCK PLEASE MAKE THIS LESS WEIRD
Wtf never mind hi envy with your shit ass wig (I forgot they killed off Hughes in the first one 😭😭)
LAN FAN BODIED HIM LMAO
Ed really be like “you do you ig”
“Yeah people exploding today!” Is my favorite line so far. (English Captions with Japanese audio; this was the train hijacker guy from fma 03)
Ed’s expression when Mustang shows up is the most in character thing I will say that (after train stuff)
I will say they did better on characterization this time around I feel like they’re close to the actual characters
But it’s hard to get close to them since they aren’t, well, animated characters. Trying not to judge too harshly.
Not terrible so far actually
Okay nevermind about the cgi WHAT IS WITH XIAOMEI
“I mean, we’re just some decent human beings.” -Ed who wanted to leave Mei behind
GO OFF MEI YEAHHHH TELL HIM THE BITCH
Okay we’re gonna have a really awkward explosion-over-short moment that just will not work because it isn’t animated
GIRLIE ARE YOU HAVING A SEIZURE
Mei being a bitch back is warranted
They be running
“You’ll never catch me, tiny rice man!” -Mei (rice man?)
The dialogue being altered where Ed says he doesn’t have a god to pray to before scar kills him bothers me
I like Alphonse’s movements on the ground when he’s incapacitated, I think the cgi works well there
Hi Mustang good on you for saving your pseudo sons
Riza with the side eye lmao
The slowmo’s again like hello
ARMSTRONG HIIIII You look really fuckin weird tho But HIIIIII
Okay the flexing I can do without thanks it looks weird
Yes Breda why is he shirtless
The red eyes don’t look good either. (For scar)
N ow see why wouldn’t you put in a leitmotif for the brothers theme in this scene with Ed and Al and instead just put in sad piano that sounds vaguely similar to it
WHERES THE LINE ABOUT THEM BEING BROKEN BUT ALIVE WHY WOULD YOU CHANGE THAT
Riza being the best and putting her coat over Ed >>>>
Mustang go comfort your son’s PLEASE
Okay just ignore that I’m on the found family train
Girlie that looked like a bad PowerPoint presentation WHY WOULD YOU DO IT LIKE THAT?? (The part where the officer shot the ishvallen child)
Gluttony… hi… again…. Can’t wait for your cgi…. (It didn’t look as bad tbh)
Sorry but with the military uniform off and just the white collared shirt he looks LIKE A DAD LIKE CMON (Mustang)
“You’ve grown… at least I think.” -Hoenhiem, observational genius
“I think I like this scene better than canon a bit actually? Cause Ed gets to express his emotions more than just calling him a bastard
Okay Hoenhiem just ignore him??
Uh oh they have to walk back together
“Our hair matches :D” -Hoenhiem
Ed immediately takes his out of the ponytail
Im not gonna lie I chuckled at that
Also I love seeing Ed with his hair down we don’t get enough of that
“stop following me” -Ed
“we’re going to the same place? 😥” -Hoenhiem
Okay we’re talking about Xerxes instead of Ed and Al’s mom or…?
And the bitch is gone
YOURE GOING TO XERXES WITH AUTOMAIL YOU DUMBASS YOURE GONNA OVERHEAT
Ooooo love the look of Xerxes ruins
Awwww Winry’s parents :D we get more of them
They’re gonna die tho and I hate that :(
This is gonna be so hard wrenching actually-
GIRL IM GONNA CRY
5 minutes into Central and you’re already causing trouble, good job Ed
Al I feel like has the weakest characterization so far in this adaptation he’s just reacting to stuff rather than doing stuff as far as I’ve seen
Scar when Winry is having a breakdown🧍
Ruhroh Winry’s got a gun
Okay the slowmo makes more sense here
Ed saves the day :D
Also we finally see scars brother after getting no context on him
Good acting on Lan Fan’s part
Also why is this calling her Ran Fan? Is that a dub thing (they called Ling “Lin” but this was all in the captions so I’m confused)
“King Bradley is a Homonculus” very serious Ling “hUh.” -Ed
Any Mustang and Hughes content is good Mustang and Hughes content I don’t make the rules
Also it’s good they didn’t change the layout of Riza’s explanation montage for Ishval because it works really well in canon and translated pretty well to live action
Riza and Roy’s speeches near the end >>>
Oh great the bros are gonna try and catch scar alone this can only end well
Well they definitely didn’t catch him
WINRY HOW TF ARE YOU HERE??
MUSTANG WHY TF ARE YOU HERE???
Oh hi Riza :D
Mustang’s like “let ur gf speak to him if she wants like damn”
Ed’s like “bb girl if he says anything shitty I’ll fight for you”
WINRY GIRLBOSS LUV HER
“Hell no I don’t forgive you for shit, but I’m gonna patch you up anyway.” -Winry
Okay cool message, someone must endure pain if it means they can prevent further suffering and cycles of violence
Uh oh Gluttony escaped
He be runnin
YEAH ED AND AL SAVE UR DAD
YEAH SCAR SAVE WINRY
YEAHHHHHH
“Wait I won’t leave you behind” MUSTANG BEING A DAD AHEGWIWNWN
“Colonel your fight is elsewhere” SCREAMING
Oh hi envy
ED SAVINF LING
and they got eaten lmao
Yay we’re all trapped in Gluttony’s stomach :D
Envy is so cynical what a bitch lol
“Tf is a portal of truth 🧍” -Ling
Oh great we’re gonna get cgi envy this will go well right?
EW
Could be worse but
EW
Conclusion: it was okay. There were parts I genuinely liked. There are things that also bug me to no end. The soundtrack from the original series would’ve fit way better and a lot of times it sounded like an off brand marvel track. Acting and cgi was a lot better (at times.) An improvement on the first one, and a semi-worthwhile watch if you have nothing else to do and you like fma. Cannot and will never be a substitute for the original obviously. Seems like less of a cash grab and more of a genuine effort this time which I appreciate. Overall? 6.5/10
(Lemme know if y’all want my full notes version because it has way more of me screaming and being goofy)

5. Favorite Female Character
Mam from Never Let Me Go (I tried talking about it once before...). Actually, it'd probably be a tie between her and Tanya (from the same series).
But while I admire Tanya because she's this strong, respectable woman, with a truly unconditional love for her child, I still feel like Mam's “flaws” are more compelling to me.
Because- well. I've been the person who judges her, I've been her, and I've been her child. I've been through all of it. And I know how people look at and what they think about women like her—so I know how easy it would have been for the ones who directed the narrative to let its audience throw stones and condemn her character without giving her a chance to speak.
Her point of view doesn't make what she did right (or wrong, for that matter), but I appreciate that there was a space within conversations for her to voice some of her feelings. Her dilemmas, her regrets, her desires.
Many times in fiction, when it's a story focused on kids or teenagers, parents are portrayed as just that—someone's parent. A mom is just a mom, and her story ends where her child's begin. I liked that Mam was a woman, and a mother, who was neither there to be antagonized nor sanctified. I liked that she made a selfish decision, put herself first, and lived the life that she wanted, as fulfilling as it could be. I liked that she knew she couldn't have everything, but still gave herself the choice of what she would rather have, despite what was expected of her. I liked that she was honest with herself, and with the ones that she loved.
12. Most Rewatched BL
After discovering it, I watched Utsukushii Kare five times between May and December last year. Would have watched it even more this year, if it wasn't for the fact I'm only now having time to rest properly. I'm planning to do the next rewatch this month, preferably this week.
The reason why I've rewatched UK many more times than any other BL is that, well, for one, it's not lengthy. You can watch both seasons + the movie and that would be little more than an afternoon/night/morning. Plus you know you're gonna enjoy every second of that time.
It's hard for me to put into concise words why I like this drama so bad, because- Man, I like everything. I like the dynamic between the characters, I like them (and to study them) individually, I like the acting, I like the chemistry between the actors, I like the BEAUTIFUL AMAZING INCOMPARABLE original soundtrack made especially for it, I like the scenarios and the vibes, I like the colors and the lighting and the angles, the moving shots, the still shots, the tension and the timing. I like the humor, I like the drama, and I like the romance. I like the way they express themselves, the acts and words they use; when, where and how they use it. I like how so many little things are meaningful throughout the story. I like how they found the exact kind of love and support they needed in their lives. I like how protective they are over each other; how jealous, mesmerized and touched they can get. I like the co-dependency and the tangible yearning. I like how it's both so intense it's kinda crazy but also so tender it makes me wanna cry.
There's nothing ever made in this world that I'd rather watch more.
17. Best Kiss
(doesn't specify what kind of kiss, but I thought it was already hard enough deciding among the mouth-to-mouth ones—so those were all I took into consideration for this.)
This may sound like a basic answer, but as long as I have eyes, and ears, and a heart... it's got to be PatPran's Rooftop Kiss in Bad Buddy.
I tried not to reach a final verdict too fast and even rewatched some of my personal favorites (KinnPorsche's separation kiss on EP6 of KinnPorsche; NuengPalm's own rooftop kiss on EP5 of Never Let Me Go; SandRay's angry-desperate kiss on EP9 of Only Friends; and others from these same three series), but in the end... There's still nothing that can compare.
It's hard to breathe watching the moments that lead to that kiss. While they kiss, you can hear Pran crying. He kissed that man like that was the only kiss he'd ever get for the rest of his life. He kissed like he had waited for a thousand years, and a thousand more wouldn't be enough to recover after.
Good luck beating that.
19. Favorite Female Actor(s)
(sorry, couldn't decide on just one!)
I was recently captivated by Nina Nutthacha performance in Love Sea. I love how expressive she is, and how you can easily identify and sympathize with the emotions she's portraying. She did impressively well in both the humorous and emotionally poignant scenes. I'm looking forward to more of her works in the future! 💕
Another actress that I like is Samantha Melanie.
Ever since her character in Until We Meet Again won over my heart, seeing her show up in other series always makes me happy, no matter how brief her appearence is. She's the kind that brightens up a room just by being there (and. also she's so pretty 😳).
#ask game#answered#thank you @zeesqueere for giving me an excuse to fangirl on main 💖#//#the gif I used for Mam has nothing to do with what I said about her usjjshsbsbs it's just a quote of hers that I like XD#///#no one talks about the struggle that it is to watch new shows and movies when your brain knows you could just rewatch UK instead 😞#////#if I had to choose a kiss that's not mouth-to-mouth I'd probably choose a hand kiss EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT#either HiraKiyoi's or VegasPete's#those were the kisses that really messed me up

Here are my overall thoughts on Rogue Trader now having played through the game.
The biggest thing is definitely how much it just absolutely nails the Warhammer 40k setting and the vibes. Not only for the Imperium itself, but also for all Xenos races you encounter. Immaculate in that regard.
The companions are all pretty fun and have some interesting stories that develop over the course of the game. There should be someone for everyone here.
The game is a relative straight lift of the Rogue Trader TTRPG, so it is relatively crunchy with a lot of possible choices of different talents, abilities and skills. That allows you to build a lot of different characters, but it can also be a bit overwhelming. I myself just picked the talents that fit into the archetype I envisioned and most of the fights in the game were relatively easy (on Normal difficulty). But I you could tell me that any Talent is overpowered/useless and I would probably believe you.
The additional mechanics of colony management, Voidship Combat and exploration were all pretty fun imo. I liked that every colony had its own storyline that developed as you built it up and changed based on previous choices. I also liked the in-universe story book sequences for events that wouldn't really work in the game itself.
The soundtrack does its job. It helps build the atmosphere and fits well into the game, but it also isn't something I would listen to outside the game.
The voice acting is fine, but I am not very good at judging that so I can't say much on that topic. I do wish that some of the emotional scenes had voice acting.
Normally I am not a fan of "morality points", but the division into Heretic, Iconoclast and Dogmatic as well as you earning points for these orientations makes sense in the setting. And I never really felt that my roleplaying choices were limited.
The game could have used a bit more content in Chapter 4 and 5. But there is DLC on the horizon, so that can change.
I would have wished to a bit more reactions from my companions to my actions. Especially during the Heretic playthrough there were some actions that prompted no reactions, that definitely should have prompted some. Also there was only one occasion on which my Origin/Homeworld was acknowledged in game.
There are still a few bugs in the game. The companion banter is definitely bugged. Fortunately most bugs fell into the funny category and not the annoying one.
Small one but I wish you could change your clothes. As a ruler of multiple planets it is weird to be stuck with the clothes determined by your origin.
The game needs to be gayer. Three of your companions are bisexual, but otherwise there exist no same-sex relationship. Trans people and Enbies also don't exist, not even as an option during character creation.
TL;DR: Fun game that really nails the 40k setting with a fun story and companions. Still a bit bugged and definitely needs to be gayer

do you have any song from the dr osts that you really like? personally the ones that immediately jump to my mind are living in a lazy parallel world from v3 and the dr2 fakeout intro song
ok so. here's where I fully admit how bad my love for this franchise is. because back when you could check your ALL TIME stats for spotify I checked, and I kid you not, my most played song ever is trapped by the ocean scent. It has been on my spotify wrapped 2 separate times and is my most played song PERIOD. And now that they've updated how far back you can check I will never know if that will ever change!
Aside from that, I have a Danganronpa playlist that I use with most of my favorite tracks that is 100 songs long and is specifically organized with thought behind the placement of each song. It also has some fan songs too! I listen to it when I'm struggling to be productive a lot.
On the top of my head though, I'd like to talk about how amazing the ending themes for the Danganronpa games are! They make me so emotional and they're all this bittersweet or calm feeling and it's genuinely so nice. The Day Before the Future never fails to calm me down or get me emotional, same with Goodbye Despair High School and Trial END. Similarly to them Closing Argument v3 is also such an interesting and calmingly beautiful track that I adore and has some bittersweetness to it.
One thing I really love about the music in the franchise is the reuse of motifs and updating the songs themself. There's multiple versions of New World Order and they're all empowering and emotional in their own ways. The two versions of trapped by the ocean scent are always so wonderful, again, unironically my most played song of ALL time 😅.
The investigation songs are also great, I love the "jazz" elements the songs have especially Homicide (Or Kill Now), Box 15, And Despair Searching.
I also really love the motif Monokuma has, like, only a few days ago did I realize after years that Let's Start the Killing Game ACTUALLY has the motif of Mr Monokuma After Class IN IT!!!!
I genuinely could say how much I love so much of this franchise's soundtrack all day, but I want to focus on what I think people should absolutely listen to if they haven't since I've been asked.
I know there are some of you out there who haven't actually seen Danganronpa 3, and I won't judge you since that's your choice, but if you're someone who hasn't watched it please oh please listen to this song it is soooooo good: https://youtu.be/EF8lbBkfW8A?si=fe2YLQx080lAKcWe
youtube
In the English version of Danganronpa v3 the ending song was cut, I'm not really certain of the reason why, but it was cut. Because of this it's possible some may have not actually heard it before, Which is a CRIME Because it's delightful!!! Please listen to it!: https://youtu.be/1BnZLuW92Hw?si=VQsSJOBCDRO6dsn4

I really don't see people talking about the Danganronpa Pachinko, or P Danganronpa, Soundtrack and it really is a shame because I think all of the remixes and songs are great! My favorite song from the album is this one: https://open.spotify.com/track/2dYwE1ete8yshENgPBpOKn?si=1at3xvEmQoWjDwjRUv4CUw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A7K9BG8Br4xp4n7caXN0IM9

And last but certainly not least, I can't go on a ramble about Danganronpa's songs without mentioning Nagito Komaeda's songs. I won't talk too much about them since, as some may know, I am making an essay video of brief summarizes of my interpretations about the songs. They're all so amazing and beautiful, all three songs are written with his character in mind and sung by Megumi Ogata herself in his voice. I'd genuinely say they're masterpieces and I adore all three with all of my heart. Please listen to them if you get the chance! <3 https://youtu.be/IAMKvTOBHhI?si=ehM_Jl2X0OaTQwL5

Stellar Blade's Sexiness is absurd... in ALL the right ways! While the story is badass!
So, I've gotten through halfway the playthrough of Stellar Blade (actually, I'm watching the gameplay as I can't play games like I used so please don't judge me), and it's very clear to me that EVE's sexiness is front row and center. The thing is that it is also done to the point where it is absurd like comic relief rather than objectifying her. The costumes and the emphasis on her butt are not to be taken seriously. At least some of them are. Some are actually kind of trendy and I love the earrings. The point is that they do show off her hot body, but in a way that is also clownish.
In other words, as a woman myself, I stand by not feeling bad about EVE looking beautiful because EVE is a lot more like me that I expected. She's not above laughing at herself and more importantly, she is a good person. I mean, more than half of the side quests she does consist of her doing random acts of kindness for people and she shows genuine compassion to people.
Now as for the story... it's one of the very best video game stories I have seen in YEARS. The setting also adds to it too. I feel like it is one big love letter to the work of Masamune Shirow's (the genius author of Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell) and I see a lot inspiration from Battle Angel Alita aka Gunnm. I also really love the characters and the music dynamite. I never get tired of it and sometimes listen to the soundtrack as I'm doing chores.
The point is that I think the naysayers are 110% wrong about this game being sexist or an insult to women. I think they are making everything more about her body than the fans are because EVE is not just a "Playboy doll". She is a powerhouse with a heart of gold and the courage of King Arthur while wielding her "Excalibur" sword. She is an inspiring character for women, and men. She just happens to have a great body, but then again, you have to be in shape to save the world and looking hot is side just a effect of being in shape. Just ask Solid Snake from Metal Gear, Goku from Dragon Ball, and others.
Please, let's stop vilifying the beautiful woman because you are in fact missing out on getting to know a really neat character and play a really stellar game. The real act of feminism in gaming is reacting to EVE, or female characters like her, the same way you would a super sexy male character; you give the game and character a chance before judging either.

So... I've finally listened to the whole soundtrack of 'Six: the Musical'. And I want to post more of my work here.
So, taking inspiration from @slashingdisneypasta drabble set, here are imagines of the six wives, but with Disney Villains and different Y/N's.
TW warning: If you know anything about the musical or the history, you probably already know the warnings in this. Death, jealousy, infidelity, sexual references, attempted murder, actual murder, and trauma. You have been warned.
Claude Frollo - No Way
(I'm not entirely sure if this is historically accurate, I tried to find more information but couldn't. But we're here to have fun, we aren't in history class, so I'm ignoring it.)
You must agree that, baby, in all the time I've been by your side
I've never lost control, no matter how many times I knew you lied
Have my golden rule gotta keep my cool, yeah, baby
Frollo wasn't a priest, no matter how much he liked to carry himself as one. As such, he, just like everyone else, had to get married. And you, Y/N, had the 'honor' of becoming his spouse years ago.
On the outside, you two seemed to be an unstoppable pair: the cruel judge, and his cold, unassuming wife. But that couldn't have been more wrong.
No one has the curse of knowing this awful man like you do. Not even Quasimodo, the poor boy who you wish you could grant his dreams, knows of all the atrocities this man thinks up in his narrow-veiwed mind. The gypsies that are hunted down by him know too much, but at least they can voice their own protests.
You, however, must suffer in silence. All for God's will to have the wife subservient to her husband. Frollo loved to throw that one in your face constantly. Even though you read and quote the same damn scriptures he does.
I've put up with your sh- like every single day
But now it's time to shh and listen to what I have to say
Your only friend and ally in all this is the archdeacon. He, like you, is all too aware of Frollo's sins. But, just like you, there is little to nothing he can do about it. All he can do, is tell you when your husband is back on his shit again.
And you, even though you desperately want to knock that old fool off of his pedestal, know you can't. He is the judge, and you are just married to him. He is the one with all the power here, and all you can do is stay humble and loyal, like any good wife should do.
That was, until you heard of a certain woman who caught his eye.
You must think that I'm crazy, you wanna replace me
baby there's n-n-n-n-n-n-no way
If you think for a moment I'd grant you annulment
Just hold up, there's n-n-n-n-n-n-no way
Even though you two haven't shared a bed in years- yes literal years, you still know that look in your husband's eye when he wants something. And you knew that he didn't want to burn Esmerelda at the stake.
Or maybe he did, since of course he would blame her for his sinful desires. Of course it's not his fault that he not only wants to sleep with the Romanian woman, but wanted to sleep with someone who wasn't wearing his ring.
There were many times, you admit, that you should have tried to intervene. Quasimodo and his mother were one of them. But you were so used to just focusing on your own safety and appearance that you had never gotten involved in his affairs. But the night you overheard Frollo, practically screaming into his fireplace, "Let her be mine, and mine alone!" was when you finally had enough.
You got me down on my knees, please tell me what you think I've done wrong
Been humble, been loyal, I've tried to swallow my pride all along
If you can just explain a single thing I've done to cause you pain, I'll go
All the years you held your tongue, all the years of built up rage had spilled out of your mouth that night like a broken dam. If Frollo was the burning fire, you were the raging storm.
Not only was he going to pursue- if you could call it that- another woman while you have been nothing but loyal to him, but he also carries himself to be even greater than your own cathedral. How he constantly blamed everyone else. Why? Why did he see himself as entitled to all this? What did he ever do that made him above God's will? What did you ever do to him that made him think he could just do what he pleased while you swallowed your own pride?
But fine. If he can give you one reason, just one, where he has the right to drag an innocent woman down with him, and even go so far as to blame God for his own desires, then you'll let him continue his buisness like normal, and you will wait for him at home like you always do.
No? You've got nothing to say?
I'm not going away
You made me a wife, so I'll be queen 'til the end of my life
Of course, you're not surprised when he just gives you the same speech about how everyone was at fault but himself. So, in his own language, he had no reason.
He promises he'll deal with you later, before heading out to go find Esmerelda. Being sure to lock you in the same room so you couldn't warn anybody. And of course, no matter how loud you screamed or pounding on the door, no one came to help you.
You got the front row seat to watching the dancers' trial. You got to watch in horror as Notre Dam threatened to be burnt to the ground, and feel proud of the deformed boy finally standing up to his 'master'. And, hours later, when your good friend the archdeacon finally finds you, you can barely contain the relieved smile on your lips when he informs you of your new status as the corrupt judges widow.
Gaston - Don't Lose Ur Head
(This one gets a double warning since it's a bit... uh... Well... This song made my inner bitch unleash. So this imagine is going to get extra spicy (I'm shocked but also kind of proud of myself, ngl))
He wanted me, obviously, messaging me like everyday
Couldn't be better, then he sent me a letter and who am I kidding
I was prêt-à-manger
When you moved into the little French town, it didn't take long for all the villagers to notice you. Especially the boys. You were the next most beautiful girl in town after some other gal named Belle, so obviously they wanted you. Though quite frankly, you found them all boring, or gross. Haven't these people heard of dentures??
You were starting to lose hope of finding a night of fun in this town... Until you saw him. The one and only hero of this quiet little town, Gaston. You saw him, and you knew that he was going to be this villages saving grace for you.
And you knew damn well he wanted you too. Gaston isn't exactly the kind of guy to hold back.
Ooh, sent a reply
Ooh, just saying hi
Ooh, you're a nice guy
I'll think about it, maybe, X.O baby~
His ego was annoying, yes. How he just expected you to fall in his arms made you roll your eyes, even if you did want him to shove you onto the nearest surface and hike up your skirt. But hey, why not use it as an opportunity to play a game of cat and mouse? After all, he is a hunter; surely, he could recognize a good chase.
Just like any hunter worth his salt, he followed the tracks you left for him, finding all the signs you were close by, but just out of his sight where he had to keep trudging through to find you... Just before you'd slip away. What? Did he really think the new girl was going to make this easy for him?
It's only when you let him come closer, let him stroll into your home like he owns the damn place muttering about how you've "Finally learnt your place~", do you let him touch you... All night... Many times... And a lot of broken furniture.
Needless to say, Gaston decided that you were too good to just be a one and done lay. He was going to come back for you, and you knew it.
I didn't know I would move in with his misses
What? Get a life!
You're living with his wife?
Like, what was I meant to do?
Unfortunately though, this definitely caught the whole towns attention, especially all the ladies. And, in a small town, gossip and rumors spread like wildfire.
Suddenly, you heard people talking about you behind your back. Did they seriously think you were deaf!? And now, you hear that some people are jealous- both of Gaston and you, while others were confused. Wasn't Gaston seeing Belle? Were you some sort of mistress?
Oh, hell no! You don't want to be part of some threesome. You don't want to be the other woman. And after talking to this Belle, you know she has no interest either, in both an open relationship and Gaston himself.
Well, now that Belle filled you in on what was really going on- she's such a sweet gal. Maybe you should invite her over after you buy new furniture- you had no qualms with finding Gaston, in the middle of town, and ripping him a whole new one in front of everyone. And all he could do was stare at you dumbfounded as you did the one thing people in this town should have done a long time ago. It was either Belle- and she wasn't an option since she wanted no part in this- or you. And you weren't going to settle for half.
Uh-Oh! Here we go, your comic went viral
I didn't really mean it but rumours spiral
Wow, Anne Y/N, way to make the country hate you
Mate, what was I meant to do?
And now, everyone thinks you're the bitch. You can see it in their eyes. But you don't care. All you do is huff and turn on your heel to head home. You don't even notice the plotting look in the hunters eyes.
A few days later, Gaston actually comes knocking on your door, dressed in his finest, and asking you to marry him? Is he serious? Glancing out your window, you see nearly the whole town gathered in your front lawn with a band, cake, and pure white decor, complete with some crying bridesmaids.
... Yup. He was serious. Looks like that talking to you gave him really made him finally realize he couldn't have Belle. But you didn't expect to just get married straight away! Though you have to admit, the idea does have some merit. Maybe this town will stop talking about you if they know you two are officially an item.
That and, as much as he is a jackass, he's still one of the best lays you've ever had. You'd never have a dull night again.
So, ignoring the feeling in your gut that this was a bad idea, you go put on your best dress, lock arms with Gaston, and mentally prepare yourself for the wedding day you didn't think you'd have.
Henry's Gaston's out every night on the town
Just sleeping around, like what the hell?
If that's how it's gonna be, maybe I'll flirt with a guy or three
Just to make him jell!
Oh, you knew there was something going on between Gaston and those blonde triplets!
In hindsight, you probably should have realized that marrying Gaston would have a load of problems for yourself... But that doesn't make you any less pissed. Especially since he's still harassing Belle! In front of you! And when confronted, all he claims is that, obviously, why wouldn't he want the two most lovely girls in town?
Obviously, that leaves Belle disgusted even more, and you infuriated. You didn't give up your freedom just for him to keep acting like he owned you and your new friend. You were far too angry to even consider that maybe flirting with some of the guys at the bar in front of your husband wasn't the greatest idea on your part... What!? What were you meant to do!?
And, of course, that just leads to you being tossed into your own home and getting into your first lovers quarrel.
Henry finds out and he goes mental
He screams and shouts, like so judgemental
You damned witch! Mate, just shut up!
I wouldn't be such a bi- if you could get it up
Oh yeah. You said that. And he was not happy. Not. At. All.
The man you call your husband screams and shouts, his temper tantrum able to make the whole house shake from his sheer size alone. You don't back down though, and when he realizes this, all he does is storm back out. No doubt to his tavern. You don't follow though, you choose to just stay at home and take your own frustrations out on one of your pillows.
By the next morning though, the whole village has heard Gaston's exaggerated side of the story. And of course, everyone blames you. After all, Gaston was the hero! How could you betray his trust like this?? No one even considers the fact- or just doesn't care- that he's just as, if not more, guilty as you.
Great. Your life is ruined. All because you wanted to get a head.
Maleficent - Heart of Stone
(I know there are probably other villains who would fit this one better, but Mal is one of my favorites and I love the idea of her getting mad at herself for falling in love so I'm treating myself)
You came my way, and I knew a storm could come too. You'd lift me high, or let me fall
But I took your hand, promised I'd withstand any blaze you blew my way
'Cause something inside, it solidified, and I knew I'd always stay
You were a... Strange mortal, definitely. You were kind and curious, yes, but you had always been drawn to the darker side of the world. It made you the outcast in your village, but you didn't care. It wasn't like you were casting hexes on others, you were just enjoying your interests.
And when you ran into the mistress of all evil herself while on a trek in the forest, you weren't afraid of her. Even when she tried to scare you off, all you did was keep your cool and smile, too intrigued to go away.
You didn't know it then, but it reminded her of herself, centuries ago, before she became the dark fairy she is today. That was enough to let her spare you and just walk the other way instead, her irritation coming back when you just followed her, continuing to ask questions and just being a general nuisance. It got to the point that she just chose to teleport back to her castle, leaving you behind.
You can build me up, you can tear me down
You can try but I'm unbreakable
You can do your best, but I'll stand the test
You'll find that I'm unshakeable
This continued for so long. You were determined to get through Maleficient and her hard shell, and would constantly look for her in the forest. No matter what, you kept strong-willed, even when she would try to test your patience with her trickery and wickedness.
Fortunately, somehow, you won her heart. Even Maleficient was confused and honestly quite furious that you managed to break through her. Her. She wasn't a sweet little fairy who wanted nothing more than to love and be loved, and she could very easily break you... But she didn't.
When the fire's burnt, when the wind has blown
When the water's dried, you'll still find stone
My heart of stone
It wasn't long before Maleficent 'brought' you from your village to live with her. It'd be more accurate to say she whisked you away, but you don't mind. You didn't want to stay in the village anyway.
It was definitely an odd time of adjustment for her. She was used to only having Diablo for company- unless you count her army of goblins and imps- and she was perfectly fine with that. But now, she has to find a way to actually take care of her little mortal.
No matter what though, Maleficient kept you 'hidden away' so to speak. You weren't imprisoned, obviously, but she just preferred to keep her life with you separate from the rest. At least for now, while she was still getting the hang of this 'love' thing.
You were fine with that, even if you did want to know more about her magic and schemes. You're just happy to have won over your dark beloved. It was like a dream come true for you; living in a magical place, with the most beautiful and dangerous woman by your side... Though you had to admit, there was one more wish you had.
You say we're perfect, a perfect family
You hold us close, for the world to see
And when I say you're the only one I've ever loved, I mean those words truthfully
Eventually, when you told her you wanted a child, she was skeptical. She's already pushing herself with a lover, but a family? Especially a mortal family who will just pass while she lives on? Absolutely not. Not in her castle. You may be her lover, but she's still the queen of this castle.
But, she does love you. You're the only person she actually wants to see happy. It took a long time, but you were able to get her to see the appeal of starting a family. After all, if you can sneak your way into this fairy's heart, anything is possible.
But you are absolutely not letting her kidnap a child and replacing it with a changeling. You want kids, but you didn't want to rip them away from their own family. She knows a thing or two about magic. Surely there's some way you two could have your own child? Maleficent at first scoffed at the notion; she's never heard of anything like that, and she's an expert in this sort of thing. But fine, she'll investigate, just so she can rub it in your face how right she is.
Her smug aura practically vanishes, and is replaced with your own, when she finds out that yes! There is indeed a spell that allows you two to have a baby together magically... "Alright, Y/N, wipe that smile off of your face, we have a youngling to create. Come on."
Soon I'll have to go
I'll never see him grow
But I hope my son will know he'll never be alone
She insisted though that you would be the child's vessel until it was ready to be born. Or, to translate, you'll be the one pregnant. What? Did you really expect her to take this job?
You are nervous about it, though, especially as the due date nears. You just can't shake this terrible feeling. Though Maleficient always quells your worries. She's a master of her craft, no spell has yet to have failed on her. Yes, this is new to her too, but what could go wrong? All you are doing is carrying a magical child inside you for nine or so months.
All the times she's brushed your worries aside, all the times she's dismissed your 'visions', Maleficent comes to regret all of it, when on the day of your child's birth, your heart beat comes to a stop.
'Cause like a river runs dry and leaves it's scars behind
I'll be by your side
'Cause my love is set in stone
She did all she could, using whatever enchantment she knew to bring your soul back to your body as your son wailed in a basket for one of his mothers. Even she was almost worked into tears when she finally realized she had lost you for good. And she had no one to blame but herself.
Maleficent though, doesn't mourn for long. She has a new life to care for, the last bit of you there is in this world. There's no time for her heart to crumble. And so, the dark fairy takes on the task of raising your child alone.
Jafar - Get Down
(For the sake of argument, let's just say Jafar won in the universe of this imagine)
Sittin' here all alone, on a throne
In a palace that I happen to own
When the sorcerer finally took his rightful place on the throne, his first act of business was to get rid of Jasmine and the former sultan permanently. To ensure no one could take away what he worked so hard to gain. And he kept Razoul, along with some new, more competent soldiers, to ensure that street rat wouldn't be able to take one step into the palace if he somehow survived the Arctic.
In every sense of the word, Jafar had won. And now, he could get started on shaping Agrabah as he deemed fit. But, first things first, he needed a wife. And he knew exactly who had in mind.
Bring me some pheasant keep it on the bone
Fill my goblet up to the brim
Sippin' on mead and I spill it on my dress with the gold lace trim
Not very prim and proper, can't make me stop
Y/N. The queen of a kingdom far away. Jafar had seen your portrait years ago during his travels, and had heard so much about you. You were considered the most beautiful in your land, and had riches and power beyond anyones wildest imagination. And of course, the ambitious sorcerer wanted you for himself.
He had tried to convince the Sultan to form an alliance with you, claiming it was for the benefit of the whole kingdom, but really, it was just for his own lustful gain. But that old fool decided his toys were more important, and the former vizier had been left fantazing about the queen, swearing to himself once he was the ruler, Y/N would be his first act of buisness.
Well, no better time then the present, yes?
I wanna go hunting, any takers?
I'm not fake 'cause I've got acres and acres, paid for with my own riches
Where my hounds at? Release the bitches
Woof
And so, you received a letter, detailing an invitation to Agrabah from the new Sultan, making it clear he was looking for his own Sultana and wanted you. You yourself had heard of the kingdom, but never held enough interest to venture out there, especially when you heard of the childish king. But now, this Jafar is enough to pique your interest. How he somehow gained the throne without having to marry or be of royal blood was definitely impressive. Not to mention he wasn't exactly bad looking in the picture he sent.
After some discussion with your royal advisor, you decided to at least check it out. If you chose to marry him, great. If not, at least you get a good vacation. So you sent a reply to him, promising to be there within a weeks time.
Head back for a round of croquet, yeah
'Cause I'm a player
And tomorrow, I'll hit replay
Jafar had been quite pleased. It seems like everything was falling in place for him. Of course, he made sure to prepare for your arrival, making sure the servants set up your lavish chambers perfectly and even going out of his way to buy ingredients for dishes from your own kingdom. He was going to make sure you at least agreed to an alliance.
Neither of you once thought that this could have been too good to be true. And you could tell he thought this exactly when he first set eyes on you in the flesh.
You, you said that I tricked ya
'Cause I, I didn't look like my profile picture?
Too, too bad I don't agree, so I'm gonna hang it up for everyone to see
And you can't stop me 'cause
"... Quite humorous. Now, where is the real Queen?" Was the very first words that came out of his mouth when he saw you. And your servants already knew where this was going.
Oh no he did not just say that to you!
Even though you kept your royal air and dignity about you, the cold look in your eyes told everyone that you were not taking this insult lightly. You were gifted with a silver tongue yourself; you always knew how to cut into someone deep, and you were not afraid of a man who could shoot sparks from his silly little staff.
I'm the queen of the castle!
Get down, you dirty rascal!
Of course, Jafar didn't like what you said about him, even if it was the truth. The servants of both royals were terrified as they watched them practically try to murder the other with their glares, hoping not to get caught in the crossfire.
However, he too knew how to keep his cool when it was necessary. He's had to have done it for years under his former employment. The last thing he needed right now was to start a war all because little Y/N lost her own cool. Yes, he could easily win it with his powers, but his main objective was to form a treaty with you, not lose what could benefit his own kingdom greatly.
So, he manages to stop himself from summoning his powers. Though he makes it clear that marriage was no longer on the table at this point. You traveled this far though, so he'll generously let you and your entourage stay to refresh yourselves, and he'll still discuss business with you, but there would be no pleasure.
which, at this rate, was perfectly fine with you.
Let me explain
I'm a Wienerschnitzel, not an English flower
No one tells me I need a rich man
Doin' my thing in my palace in Richmond!
It's not that you were insecure. You knew you were beautiful. You knew that you were the one in charge. It was how this man invited you into his home and had the gall to say that to you. This man who had to claw his way to the throne felt like he had the right to insult you? You weren't going to let that go.
Fortunately, for him, though, he was able to convince you to at least consider an allegiance. You didn't like his attitude at all, but the idea did seem to have potential. Besides, you didn't want to risk some deranged magician trying to take over your kingdom.
So, you agreed to be his ally, and then set off for home after fine tuning the agreement, making sure he wouldn't be able to take advantage of any loopholes.
You were still an unmarried woman by the end of the day, but hey, you like it that way anyway.
Evil Queen Grimhilda - All You Wanna Do
I think we can all agree, I'm the ten amongst these threes
And ever since I was a child, I made the boys go wild
I was young, it's true, but even then I knew
The only thing you wanna do is...
You always seemed to lure in the wrong kind of attention. You were 'gifted' with beauty, as your own mother put it, and as such, you had countless suitors over the years.
Though none of them treated you right. None of them cared for the woman behind the pretty face. They all seemed to think they had a right to your body, whether they'd try to force themselves on you or try to buy your affections.
And, unfortunately, you had to learn it the hard way.
Made me a lady in waiting
Hurled me and my family up in the world
Gave me duties in court, and he she swears it's true, that without me, he she doesn't know what he'd she'd do
It was shortly after the Kings mysterious passing did you meet the new Queen. She was looking for a new handmaid, and your family insisted you apply, despite the fact that it was clear that Grimhilda wasn't exactly pure of heart.
Miraculously, she doesn't get envious of your beauty and chooses to hire you instead of the countless other women who applied. She kept you close by her side, you helped her in every way she needed and then some. You didn't question her, unlike the majority of her court, and you did exactly as she asked you to.
It was mostly because you didn't want to put a target on your back, but still.
You were a hard worker, and it definitely didn't hurt that you were quite beautiful- not as beautiful as her, obviously, and that just made it even better to the queen.
You say I'm what you need
All you want, we both agree
This is the place for me
I'm finally where I'm meant to be
Even though you had been reluctant at first, you now knew you made the right choice. Yes, you had questioned your morality many times, but this was the best place you could be; on the good graces of the evil Queen, and on your own. You didn't have to worry about anyone trying to hurt you here.
Then he she starts saying all this stuff
He She cares so much, he she calls me love
He She says we have this connection
I guess it's not so different...
Though of course, tranquility can't last forever. You realized this when Grimhilda had called you to her throne room and gave you an offer you couldn't really refuse.
She truly was a snake. She knew how to lure you in with the promises of love and care. Something you imagine she must have done with the previous king.
Still though, even if you didn't want her, she wanted you. And when the evil Queen says it's you, than it's you.
You two were eloped shortly after. No wedding, though. Two women marrying would have caused an uproar. So in the publics eye, you were still her handmaid. No one knew of the way the Queen held you close at night, or how you would get down on your knees for her, "As any spouse of mine should."
With Henry Hilda, it isn't easy
His her temper's short, and his her mates are sleazy
Except for this one courtier
He's a really nice guy, just so sincere
It didn't take long though for this relationship to wear you out. Grimhilda was still as cold as ice, and the people she conducts business with aren't exactly the most upstanding of people. Just because you became her consort, didn't mean that she was going to suddenly become selfless and compassionate. You knew it, but... Still.
You did find one friend, though. The Queen's own huntsman, in fact. You had seen him before, you don't quite know how long he's been under Grimhilda's 'employment'. But one evening, while your wife was in her laboratory, you decided to make conversation with him. And that was the beginning of your first genuine friendship.
This guy finally
Is what I want, the friend I need
Just mates, no chemistry, I get him and he gets me
And there's nothing more to it
He just cares so much, he's devoted
You two practically became two peas in a pod. Whenever you two weren't carrying out her evil deeds or entertaining her, you both could be found together, chatting away about your previous and current lives in the halls or gardens. He even taught you how to use a dagger so you could defend yourself if need be.
Now, this is what you needed. All you ever wanted was just a nice friend you could lean on. You didn't need a marriage, you didn't need a lover, you just needed someone who truly cared.
But then... When the two of you are alone...
He says we have a connection...
No... No no no no! Why!? He knew you were married, it didn't matter if it was ultimately loveless! He knew your troubles with men before! Why would he even say this!?
I thought this time was different!
Why did I think he'd be different?
But it's never, ever different!
The huntsman seemed to realize his mistake when he saw the tears fill your eyes. He tries to comfort you, even when you tried pushing you away. Even after what he said, the two of you were still friends, and he reassures you he would go if you really wanted him to.
You should have ordered him to leave. You should have stormed away. You should have done anything else. But when you saw the true care in his eyes, and how he was willing to set his own desires aside for you, all you could do is break down and cry in his arms. Both because you still had your friend, and the fact that regardless of the choice you'd make, your relationship was going to change forever.
How tragic it was that the Queen just so happened to walk down that very hall, as you and the huntsman embraced each other. Now you got to witness first hand her wrath and jealousy as she ordered her guards to drag you two away.
Playtime's over...
Playtime's over...
Playtime's over!
You and the Huntsman were executed. Grimhilda was never one to show mercy. The Huntsman was simply beheaded, but you had your heart carved out of your chest and given to the Queen. The only way she could have your heart to herself.
Hades - I don't need Your Love
(I'll admit, i had a lot of trouble with this one. I'm still not sure of how this came out, but I didn't know how else to write this)
You know I love you, boy, in every single way
Though I love you, boy, I'll miss you every day
You were a brilliant woman of your time. You were a writer, a philosopher, bringing light to the great myths of the very gods. Of course, many were true, as shown with the mortal son of Zeus, but others were exaggerated or simply not true. You treasured the life you had built for yourself, and you couldn't even imagine exchanging it for anything more or less.
Anyone like you would have grabbed the gods' attention. You had caused an uproar in Olympus, so much so that even the Underworld heard about you, especially one God in particular.
It wasn't long before Hades had heard about you and decided to look into this new mortal. Usually, it didn't take much to make the other gods angry, so he wasn't expecting much.
And even though this feels so right
I'm holding back the tears tonight
Though he found himself both intrigued and entertained by you. Finally, someone who didn't just blindly worship the other gods! And you didn't even feel afraid of incurring the wrath of the gods. You were also pretty cute, that was a plus.
And then, that's when he gets an idea. It wasn't exactly a secret he was mocked on Olympus for many things, one of them was that he still didn't have a spouse. He mostly ignored them about that particular jab. How could he take offense from people whose relationships were already fifty shades of fucked? Still though, he can already see the smug looks on their faces being wiped away after seeing him stride in the room with the very mortal who made the others question them.
Honestly, he just wanted them to shut up about his personal life, and he thought this was the best way to accomplish that. Especially after the whole 'unleashing the titans' fiasco, this was another, more subtle, way to get back at them.
That I don't need your love, no, no
I don't need your love, no, no
You were certainly surprised to see the God of death at your door. At first, you thought maybe he was offended by what you had been writing, but he surprised you even more when he... Asked you out? He even worded it like a business deal, too, and flirting with you a bit, though you're not sure if he was being genuine or just trying to charm you into accepting his deal.
Honestly, you wanted to decline. You weren't stupid, you could tell this was just Hades wanting to annoy the other gods. Everyone knew well enough by now that you didn't want to get on a deities bad side, and you were already pushing your luck. You knew this, he had to know this too, and you were certain if you accepted just this one date, your whole life wouldn't be the same.
You wanted to reject him. You really did... Until he sweetened the deal. He would ensure your safety and even help you with your writing - apparently, he genuinely liked your literature - if you did this for him.
How could you deny that? Safety to continue doing what you love, in exchange for being part of some scheme to tick the rest of the gods off?
So I sent that letter to my love
Got married to the king
Became the one who survived
So, writing away your old life, you agree to Hades' deal.
And, as you predicted, one date became a second date. And then a third... And a fourth... It got to the point that you would expect to see Hades at least once a week.
Obviously, this attracted all kinds of attention. Both from your neighbors and the other gods. You're pretty certain that all those thunderstorms conveniently over your house weren't exactly coincidence. And your fellow mortals would try asking you about you and your, supposed, lover. What was he like? Did he bribe or kidnap you? Were you carrying his child yet? That question you supposed you couldn't blame them considering Zeus' reputation. And, the one you heard most of all, when would you two get married?
You were no longer you. You were now known as the death gods lover. As any artist would know, no matter what kind of art they pursued, fading away was possibly one of the worst fates you could have.
There's was more to you than just being a deity's consort. There was more to you than your newfound status. Why was it that people recognized it before, but now they seemed to have forgotten it?
I've told you about my life; the final wife
But why should that story be the one I have to sing about?
That's not my story!
There's so much more!
Still though, you didn't throw yourself a pity party and let it stop you from creating and bringing the same light you always had before. You were now more determined than ever to reclaim the voice you had lost. And now that you had all the resources and security you needed thanks to Hades, your works were now better than ever.
It actually impressed him, even though he knew he had inadvertently caused this for you. Hades didn't think you were trying to outshine him at all, he was just reminded why he became attracted to you initially.
You were once more surprised that he became your biggest supporter outside of your initial agreement. He would brag about you to all the other gods, but not for his own gain, because he was proud of you. And if someone saw you and just referred to you as 'his consort' while he was around, Hades would immediately step in with, "Oh yeah, she's an absolute ball of fire, but have you read her scriptures? Trust me, Athena wishes she could be as good as her."
And you had started to actually genuinely like Hades. He had a pretty good sense of humor, was actually easy to get along with outside of his temper, and you could see the appeal in the guy. You had even spoken up against the other gods whenever you'd hear them talking about your date. That didn't win you any points with Olympus, but it's not like you cared what they thought of you anyway.
You didn't see it coming, but your relationship had started to turn more into just a show. You two had started to genuinely care about each other. It may not have been true love just yet, but you two were definitely good friends. You supported each other, even if you didn't entirely agree with everything he did, and that was all you two needed.
During your last visit in the underworld, when you were passing the hall while being escorted by Pain and Panic, you could have sworn you heard the three fates looking into yours and Hades' lives together... What was that they said about him proposing in a few years?

Spotify Tag Game
I got tagged by @sofapup17! Thank you so much 💜
The game: Put your Spotify On Repeat playlist on shuffle and post the first 10 songs!
Honestly, I'm the worst person to do this x'D I don't use Spotify all that often so right now all songs on my On Repeat list are from the Who Holds the Devil playlist I made. So this turned into less of a "what music do you listen to" and more of a "let me explain why I put these specific songs on my Who Holds the Devil playlist." BUT I guess there might be an audience for that, too?
So let's go, I guess?
___
1. Heroes Rise - Tommee Profitt, Sam Tinnez
Definitely more of a Ga On-focused song what with that whole "hero" thing he's got going on and his attempts to make a change in the world. But there are also definite hints of Yo Han in that whole "heroes never die" aspect. Because while what he did was technically illegal and he's more of an antihero than anything else, he IS definitely still a hero. And what he did will be remembered for a long time to come, if nothing else because it gave rise to new heroes (see what I did there? ;D)
This is just a very good song to convey the overarching plot of heroes and the power they hold — but also the amount of conviction and dedication it requires.
2. I Didn't Ask For This - Beth Crowley
I am OBSESSED with this song right now, specifically in relation to Yo Han. There are parts of this song that hits just right for his character, both in the original drama and Who Holds the Devil. I mean:
Take what's left Of my fractured heart Bloodstained 'cause The pieces are so sharp
*chef's kiss*
But also:
*pterodactyl screech*
3. The Sacrament - HIM
My teenage emo phase coming back to bite me in the ass x'D No, but really, there's just something with this song that vibes with the whole religious themes of The Devil Judge. And the longing, desperation, and reverence of Who Holds the Devil.
Also, I just really, really love that piano. So sue me.
4. Die For You - PENTAGON
This one is pretty self-explanatory, I feel. Very much Ga On at the start of Who Holds the Devil, desperately longing for Yo Han. It also perfectly conveys his recklessness and just how far he'd be willing to go to be forgiven for his mistakes.
5. Dancing's Done - Ava Max
Possibly added during a bit of a YOLO moment, not going to lie xD BUT, there are definitely parts of the lyrics that apply:
I wanna give into your dark temptation I wanna touch you like nobody does, oh People like you and me were born to run So where we going when the dancing's done? (Oh)
Because Ga On sure has hell wants to give in to Yo Han's dark temptation, even if he pretends that he doesn't.
6. A Little Bit Dangerous - CRMNL
Yo Han. Through and through. It also has a bit of the same cheekiness as the original soundtrack, which I like. And, I mean:
Let out of the cage, took my chains away I'm so tough to tame now Look at what you made me Look at what you made me do
7. I Want You To Want Me - Chase Holfelder
Another Yo Han song. Like, if you've read The Gentle Light? You know why this song is here. You know about the desperation and the yearning and the need. So, really, I HAD to put this on the list.
BECAUSE PINING.
8. Let Me Be Your Armor - Assemblage 23
I am SO glad this song made it onto the list because this one actually requires an explanation. It's one that might not make a lot of sense in terms of style (it definitely has a different vibe than the rest) BUT. The lyrics. The LYRICS. Like, babes. Listen to the lyrics. Listen to the lyrics ALL THE WAY THROUGH and then tell me this isn't Yo Han (as he sees himself).
This is a song I've had in my folders for literal YEARS (a friend sent it to me as a mood song for one of my OCs) and the moment I decided to make this playlist, I KNEW this song had to be on it.
9. A Dangerous Thing - AURORA
Honestly, I'm not sure if I need to explain this one all that much. It kind of speaks for itself in a lot of ways. Though I WILL say that while the dangerous thing is Yo Han in most situations, just maybe, there might be times when it's Ga On. Especially in Who Holds the Devil.
(... you'll understand after chapter 37)
10. Addicted - MONSTA X
Look. I know we haven't really gotten to that part yet, but they be horny, okay? Desperate and horny. And very much addicted to each other. What more do you want me to say? xD
(for real, though, MONSTA X sure know how to make desperate and horny songs. Mercy is even worse, in the best way possible).
___
Well, I hope that was fun! Even if it turned into an advertisement for Who Holds the Devil and the attached playlist x'D
As for tagging, I tag @shi-toyu because I know you at least use Spotify ;) And everyone else who wants to do it!
#Who Holds the Devil#Amethystina Does Tag Games#With music this time!#And tbh the only reason I'm doing it is because of this playlist x'D#I actually listen to a lot of music#But not on Spotify or YouTube#Or streaming in general#I'm old school#And the player I use doesn't have a way to record what I've been looping lately#But it's mostly K-pop tbh#So doing it this way was more fun for me#Since it has a bit more variety#Though less metal than necessary to convey my true taste in music xD#Spotify

This is How You Lose the Time War surprised me with the identity of the Seeker; mid-book I thought there might be another operative tailing them, or a Purple child, or a third side to this war. That last prediction was quite close!
Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn - Bande Dessinee Episode: 0 wasn't particularly thrilling, but I value it because it fills out the characters of Full Frontal and Angelo Sauper, and how the Zeonist public sees things before the initiation of the Third Neo Zeon War, aka The Laplace Incident.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars has been good through season 7; I ned to track down season 8 to see if they later appearance of Ashoka in Star Wars Rebels makes any sense.
Legend of Galactic Heroes: I have finally finished this. RIP to a legend, but we all knew that the death flag for the last person to die was waved at the end of the third season. Rubinsky's end was also fitting: reflecting of how he was no longer part of the plot, he was also no longer part of politics. His last gasp felt irrelevant, and really was.
Pacific Rim: The Black is a 3dcg film that's reminiscent of RWBY and Dragon Prince in style, but with the same Ramin Djiwadi soundtrack, and some neat twists that really delve into the fridge horror of the setting. But this is a kids' show, so there's little blood, the decapitations happen out of frame, and the heads don't roll too far. Episode 7 has a nice "it's dangerous to go alone; take this" moment.
Computing
A 2.1A powerbank is not enough to stably power a Pi 1 B+ with a 4.0" square Hyperpixel Touch display and a wireless keyboard. Big Sad. Next question is if a PiSugar 3 battery controller will work with a Pi 1 B+ or if I should splurge $75 on a Pi 4 for this device.
I'd like to have a mobile compute terminal that's smaller than a 13" laptop, but still has USB ports. Scrollwheel and a button to toggle the OSK would also be nice.
Primary nonwork laptop's keyboard continues to degrade; It's becoming a desk item. Its degradation is the primary driver of the new palmtop development.
Actually, wait, I have a spare CM4 from a StereoPi 2 device. I could use that, with a compatible breakout board maybe. Or I could test the Hyperpixel screen on the Stereopi board directly. Then I'd have a 4" touchscreen mated to a … 5" wide board? Well, it'll at least let me test some things, like whether the CM4 works for this use case. Bonus dual cameras is a questionable bonus.
Crafting
KInda burnt out on crafting, tbh. Last two weeks were full of crunch before Pemmi-Con/NASFiC, which netted me a "Judge's Choice in Novice Class" award and "Best Use of Modern Tech" in the Masquerade competition.
Next up, over @glowingskull, I plan to post rundowns of the stuff I made, and maybe some shapefiles, but there's a lot of work left in this costume and I plan to redo large parts of the headgear.
Because, let's be honest, the post-con todo list for that costume is basically:
Better photographs?
Write up the project
Print off a holder for these parts, because I'm retiring them to mount on the wall
Redesign snout, again, to remove grilles and double-thicken all the parts
Resculpt temples and ears of skull
Put a visor in the eye holes
Eye-lights in visor?
Enclose head: back of skull, ventilation, neck sock
Redo the flame staff's camera monopod mount attachment point for durability (may require welding?)
Sculpt a model for the chestpiece, so it's plastic instead of foam
Sculpt a model for arm bracers
And then on top of that I also want to:
Document the Servicer outfit
Sew on a Masonic patch for the Servicer outfit
Build some DIY NVGs for use in costume projects like this one
Write up the Baba Yaga's Hut costume which won Best In Show
I think my next costume goal, after the revised Turaga Vakama, will be an Earth Federation Space Forces officer uniform, so I can give the planned "WTF is Zeon" lectures in character.
The next head goal will be a Deinonychus head with articulated jaw, which requires advancements in augmented reality. Need to get the StereoPi working, or ditch/sell it and switch to paired NVG monocles.
Music
I think it's time for Pacific Rim soundtracks. Pacific Rim: The Black sounds somewhere between the Pacific Rim movies' soundtracks and the tense violin work from the 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie with RDJ and Jude Law, soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. Not particularly Australian, unfortunately.
Lego Stuff
Gotta merge the two submarine kits, and build the Emperor's Throne Room that I won at pinball at Pemmi-Con.
#this is how you lose the time war#spoilers#pemmi con#nasfic#pacific rim: the black#legend of galactic heroes#the tuesday again no problem expanded universe and spinoffs

Author Ask Tag Game!
Thank you so much to @mthollowell-writes for the tag! I am really getting a lot of these now and I love it.
I'm choosing the The Witch in the Ruins for this tag game which is my current project that I have finished but is still in beta reading/editing phase.
What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it? I would say for the most part you could take a few things away from the story. Without spoiling it, a lesson is not to judge someone so harshly as it might come back to hurt you. But mostly it's a story where you can draw your own conclusion. I don't like to (and really try not to) lead my readers to a single conclusion or a way of thinking because I don't like it when books try to tell me what to think either.
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)? Definitely the Dark Souls/Bloodbourne worlds for the visuals, and it has Italian/Latin names and inspired titles. I listened to a lot of Resident Evil soundtracks (the games) and Resident Evil Village was also in my mind while writing. Someone told me it sounds a little like the Witcher, so I guess that. Oh! and one of the main creatures is heavily inspired by a Roman mythological creature of the same name.
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person? The MC is trying to get home again after bringing shame to her town and being a disappointment despite her magical abilities.
How many chapters is your story going to have? It has four chapters, it's only a novella.
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it? Original work and I will have this on Kindle - E books format and audio in October.
When and why did you start writing? I started it at the end of last year and intended to publish it as a short story for a magazine, however I was late to the notice for it and missed the deadline! I decided to expand it into a novella and keep writing though because I liked it so much.
Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow? My advice is to keep writing, as long as you enjoy it and have stories asking to be be let out of your brain.
Low-pressure tag: @dyrewrites (not sure if you have done this one already) @boundedsea @repressed-and-depressed @quantumlandbooks @digital-chance @aziz-reads @fire-but-ashes-too and anyone else who wants to do the tag!

idk if ur into bl but there’s a rlly good game called “slow damage” by nitro chiral. they’re the same company who made dramatical murder…so if you know. then you know how this game will play out 😭 but i’m pretty sure slow damage is more of their darker games.
it’s not free, but for what it’s worth (about $20 usd), id say i don’t regret buying it myself. i think it would fit right into your ally bc when i’m talking dark content…i mean it! if i remember correctly, it follows a depressed desk worker (bc ofc) who’s also a painter trying to get some cash yk?? and the cool thing about the mc is he has the ability to see people’s deepest darkest desires, which he uses as inspo to create art.
and this game is not afraid about getting depraved 😅 one of my fav characters (besides the mc bc i actually love him) is this dude named madarame, iirc??? and he’s every masochists wet dream 🫣 don’t @ me for that lmfaooo
it’s such a wild game!! i loved the nsfw scenes so much, i encourage you to look up some of the cutscene art bc it’s genuinely so beautiful 😩 there’s always some kind of blood involved and they’re usually banging at some decrypt place that prolly stinks so hard. despite all of that, the mc always looks like he’s on cloud nine, even when he’s chained up and bleeding profusely 😳
and it’s not just the nsfw scenes that has me drooling, but the story itself is intensely gripping??? like i’m hooked from beginning to end. and this is coming from someone who studied/s classical lit or literature in general…dunno if that holds any substance, but trust me when i say i’ve read countless of books and consumed enough media that it’s tantamount to mt kilimanjaro, but by far slow damage is one of the best visual novel games i’ve ever had the pleasure of playing 😖 usually vn games have good art and spicy scenes, but never plot. but this game blew my exception. so if you’re not much into how gorey it can get (bc the spicy scenes are low-key eroguro 80% of the time) then i’d say go for the story. it’s an absolute gem and thought provoking.
anyway sorry for the long rant 😭 this game is my guilty pleasure and idk if you’ve heard of it or what, but i don’t hear many people talk about it!! if you like euphoria, slow damage is not graphic in the same way, but it’s definitely dark and they’re not afraid to show the pleasure that comes from the pain 🫣
ps…in terms of yandere themes, idk if i’m remembering anything right bc it’s been a hot min, but it’s not really set in canon or directly in the game whether the yandere trope is applicable. but ngl, almost all characters display some kind of yandere characteristic where they’ll say the craziest shit and do something 10x crazier 😭 i mean if it wasn’t evident enough with some of them tying down and forcing themselves on the mc, then idk what is 🤔 but yes, it does get super intense!! highly recommend it, if i haven’t expressed that enough. they also have the opening soundtrack on youtube if you just look up slow damage op!! the soundtrack in general is actually good and fits with the vibes.
☠️☠️☠️
I personally haven’t played Dramatical Murder but during my teenage years, that game’s influence over the internet is ASTRONOMICAL ☠️ So, I always assumed that it’s something crazy, but never really bothered to know anything about it lol (Because I was an edgy little highschool girl who hated men ☠️) I just laugh every time I hear someone talk about it, because they’re so passionate. It’s cute ✨
Man, BL games always has the craziest fucking plot in the visual novel genre, and they always have the craziest characters too!! 😭 Otome games can only hope to have that kind content on their games lol Because eroguro is kind of a taboo topic, right? But I love to see more creative ways into corporating it into “dating” games 🧎♀️ This game seems like it checks the right corners of my brain, every single guilty pleasure so I don’t blame you for the enthusiasm! But don’t worry, we don’t judge other people here ☠️
Anyway, I personally haven’t played much BL games in general, (Because I’m personally more of a GL girl because women) and my knowledge of it only comes from friends who really loves them, but this sounds really interesting! Thank you for sharing ♥︎

UGH!-5: JUNGKOO-GATE
Memories That Cannot Be Erased - by Sim Hee Jin [The Glory, Pt.2 (Original Soundtrack from the Netflix Series)]
[Music is a very big part of my life and I’m MOSTLY INCAPABLE of writing without music, so I just thought I'd share what I am listening to while writing this]
–🐺–🐺–🐺–
I was going to just play the Sims, while watching youtubers reacting to “The Glory”, Anything BTS, or anything which my mind & soul might deem to be needed at the very present. Needed to feel something, what? I don’t quite know myself, maybe something that will help me finally carry on with my project? Maybe something that will make me feel happy for the time being, at this very moment? Or maybe just something that will make me feel like I can forget that there are so many thing I must remember, at least for one fucking day. Yeah, I was going to do all of that right at this very moment, and I still will, but now it will be after I’m done writing this.
So I am here writing this because I couldn’t stop myself from doing so, because, AND HEADS-UP THIS IS ABOUT TO GET VERY GRAPHIC ✌🏾, when one is pressing to go to the toilet, they should. Trying to hold it in, is very bad for your system as a whole, same goes for throwing up or sneezing, or anything else which obviously your body has decided that “yeah no, this can’t stay here, it's gotta to go. Now”. So release myself I will, but like everything else in life EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING there is a place for such activity. When it comes to excrement, the toilet is such a place. When it comes to sneezing, opening your mouth widely into someone else’s face is not the place. When it comes to my feelings, with regards to a specific topic, my blog is one such place.
In real life, I am the type of person that cracks jokes to no end, because it makes me happy knowing that I was the person who was able to make you laugh; I love it, I almost crave it. I am the type of person who would choose friendship over romance, in the sense that if we are going to have a crush on the same human, I will step back and that is a fault, nothing to brag about, at all, because I don’t like unprovoked conflicts when your life has been a constant fight, after fight, after fucking fight, you will quickly try to veer clear of any, if you can and also I grew to be very selfish about my romantic ideal, in my head, if you really liked me like that, I shouldn’t have to compete with someone else also another fault, to a certain degree, so I’ll just keep being me, wait, and see; if we are not meant to be, I’ll be just as fine on my own, I got used to it. I am the type who is also so patient and nonchalant that, if you don’t know me, you will straight away peg me as the person you can easily walk all over, if you do know me, you will be carefully looking for ways to intelligently tell me anything, and if you love me friend or lover you know you can just come at me and we will get at it, whatever “it” may be.
Out of the many things that I am not, forgetful is one. I will remember anything: trivial, important, bad, good, numbers, shapes of clouds, you name it; I will remember it AND WHAT A FUCKING NIGHTMARE THAT IS and let me tell you, a memory like that is usually the product of a well trained self-defense mechanism process, so also nothing to brag about. I am not a person who can sit and watch seemingly innocent people take an unwarranted beating, be it physical or emotional, because I was once there myself and I wished someone else stood up for me. I am not a saint, through life experience I morphed myself into something far from actually, so I will never truly judge you, unless you ask me to, and anything else will always just be a deliberate relying of my opinion, in my blog.
So what does any of this have to do with Jikook? Hmmm … yesterday’s live, heavily highlighted how people like me, or rather, people who are not like a certain demographic in this fandom, are often not given the benefit of the doubt. It’s all so fucking guilty until proven innocent. It reminded me just how jarringly white and black many seem to be when it comes to Jikook’s relationship in general and as the gray-citizen that I am, it is alway so criminally mind-blowing that I usually have no words and just leave it at that unless being otherwise prompted or if I see someone I care about being pestered.
Yesterday however, it specifically made me think about JK. I don’t think I’ve ever said this anywhere in my blog but I heavily relate to JK in his way of thinking, and perhaps also feeling soulwise I think I might be closer to Yoongi, but we are about to find out soon enough, which is probably why I like JM so much 😜😜😜. Because, people such as myself and JK tend to either joke or stay calm as their MO, we usually don’t speak about important things with people we don’t know/connect with, and when we do, it might look so out of nowhere, it will end up feeling “uncharacteristic” hence sounding weird, forced and scary 👻 at times.
Out of all that, there is one particular aspect I feel like JK and I have in common, which is the fact that you can't tell me what to do, at all. That is your quickest way to win a ticket at my “I think not, in fact, I will definitely find a way to NOT do what you just told me you want me to do” Show 🤡. The one very big difference I have with JK, however, is that his parents seem to have been the child's personal decisions supportive-type, whereas alas mine were not. So even though in my formative years I was a bit of a loose cannon and did everything I wanted, it was always just as long as it didn’t involve my parents. They had/have working on it, therapy, is a wonderful thing the strongest hold on me. But so … who has a hold on JK? Does anyone even have a hold on him?
Hobi has expressed how JK is “handsome, but doesn't listen”. Yoongi has expressed how “JK might be a genius but that doesn't mean he doesn't work hard at what he does”. JM has expressed how “JK is different behind the cameras, he is actually cute, but also has a sort of manliness to himself”. Namjoon has expressed how “even though every member of BTS is important, there is no replacement for Jungkook”. Tae has expressed that “JK is the type of person who has outstanding basic talent”. Jin has expressed, with his caring actions towards JK, how even though JK is formidable, he is still a young man in a big-big world.
Very stubborn. Impossibly talented. Regrettably young.
That is what I have gathered of JK, thus far. From what we’ve been allowed to experience through footage, from what the members have conveyed when talking about him and from JK’s “art/work” itself as fans. The one person who hasn’t had a problem in often pegging him as cute is JM. Namjoon has time and again pointed out how JK is a softie with the body of a rock, yes, but JM always attempts to point out the fact that JK in reality is just a big ball of softness, but he is then quickly “silenced” when instantly confronted with the fact that he is the “resident mochi” … we won’t get into that particular monicker today so he just ends up agreeing 😬. Why am I pointing this out? Do I think JM controls JK? … 😂😂😭😭 … Please 😑, if they are in a relationship, JM would be a lover not a ruler.
JM has a very big influence on some of the final decisions he makes, I honestly do believe that, but JK is first and foremost his own “unique” person, who however, for at least a good 10 years, had no other choice but to listen to a whole lot of other people. Control is a very big aspect of my life: I literally FEAR losing it. Reason why I am scared of trying sleeping pills, reason why I’m scared of falling asleep while on plane, reason why I don’t do drugs, but at the same time reason why UNFORTUNATELY I drink an unhealthy amount, ever since I figured out that I always remember everything i’ve done and I that I do get loose just enough not to lose myself. Basically, the second I feel like someone is trying to take “control away” from me and if I am in a position where I can I lash.
And by that I don’t mean that Imma scratch you obviously, just means that within 3 second of the happening I would have already formulated plan A-Z in order for me to either regain the control I lost, or find ways to soothe me and give me the apparent comfort I need to feel like I have regained some sort of control I am a master at self-soothing. At that very moment, what is paramount, is knowing that from that moment on, every single decision made involving me would be made by myself and myself only. Meaning that, at that very moment, if you saw me being undecided between broccoli and kale juice, and you kindly offered your opinion, without me asking, I would most certainly feel the sudden craving for a vanilla ice-cream cone instead.
As an introvert I’ve often found comfort within my room. Is where I’ve created most of my projects, where I’ve taught myself a whole language, where I was safe from bullying, where I could allow myself to dream, where I am 100% in control. When I’m in comfort zone, I tend to not think much about what I do, even if 85.13% of the times what I do will not make sense to anybody and has made people call me “crazy”, at that moment, it made sense to me, because i decided to it, so I would quite frankly, not give a fuck. Anyways, me and my room are the main reason for the struggle people I love have when I rather stay home than go for a day out. Once I am out, I’m the light of the party; just gotta get me there 😬.
As it just so happens, JK seems to have found one of his comfort zone in “talking” to ARMY. He maybe has an excuse to escape from whatever it is that he actually needs to be doing/thinking of, while at the same time he shows ARMY that he is alive: WIN-WIN. Reason why he drinks with us, he entertains us, does his laundry with us, eats with you, WEVERSE-living might be providing JK with a way for him to momentarily gain control while at the same time conceding it because he is fulfilling his role as idol, he is promoting things , etc without causing any causing much of any rifts in his comfort zone. So when people ask him not to drink, to go to bed, whatever it is, if it goes against what he was there for, do not for a second think he will do any of it; because in that very moment we are most likely just a part of his well constructed comfort zone.
So this should go without saying, but it is clearly NOT sticking with some people out there. When you are looking to get some reaction from Jikook as a couple, something that will give you the fix you need for the day, week, whatever, please kindly be reminded that not only their relationship isn’t confirmed, but it is also not a paid subscription show, so they don’t owe you shit. JK is not touching JM the way you want him to? JM is not with JK in the palaces you want him to? Jikook are not doing lives the times you want them to? It is all very sad and all but it also all very much sounds to me like you problem. Thus, please be reminded that there are MANY DIFFERENT TYPES of people on this sphere, and as it is hard enough to live a life as them, as me, as JK, as JM, as you, as anybody, a little bit of consideration, and “thinking before you speak” goes a bloody ass long way.
Happy Easter, stay safe 🫰🏾💜
Always respectfully yours,
Marengo.

LotR Tag Game
Tagged by @general-illyrin
How old were you when you were first introduced to LOTR? I was first introduced to the legendarium when my dad read The Hobbit to my brother and me when I was six. Then he started reading LotR to us when I was ten, which just so happened to be the same year the FotR movie came out, and I was hooked. (As soon as we saw the FotR movie, I raced off and read the other books to myself because my dad was reading too slowly :P)
Favorite LOTR character? Is it basic to say Sam? Oh well, I don't care, it's Sam.
Books or movies? Books. Books are almost always better than movies, and though I love the movies to death and think they're incredible works of art and also really good adaptations, nothing quite compares to the original. One thing the movies have over the books, though, is that they have an absolutely astounding soundtrack!
Which location in Middle Earth would you want to visit? I've always been drawn to Rivendell; it feels like the sort of place where you can get a taste of everything best in the world, without having to do as much traveling.
Favorite movie? FotR is my favorite movie, though TTT is actually my favorite book. I'm sure my partiality to the first movie has something to do with how often I watched it while waiting for the others to come out. I'm not exaggerating when I say I must have watched FotR at least once a week once it came out on DVD. (Alas, I was older and busier by the time the others came out, so that was not a habit I was able to keep up.) There's something so fresh and exciting about FotR, before things get kind of depressing and desperate. And the "Breaking of the Fellowship" track from the soundtrack is a;dlkfjsldkfjds;fkljsdlkfjsdlkf
Favorite scene? Exclusive to the TTT book, it's the stewed rabbit scene with Frodo and Sam in Ithilien. That moment where Frodo is asleep and Sam looks at him and thinks to himself, "I love him, whether or no." I adore that scene. I dream of one day writing a scene that captures even half the beauty and emotion and depth of that scene.
Favorite quote? Well, I kind of already said it, so instead I'll share my favorite bit of Tolkien's songs:
Though here at journey's end I lie in darkness buried deep, beyond all towers strong and high, beyond all mountains steep, above all shadows rides the Sun and Stars forever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, nor bid the Stars farewell.
What Middle Earth race would you want to be? Hobbit. A peaceful life in beautiful countryside where you can eat and get fat and be merry and no one will judge you for it? Sign me up. (I would maybe be okay with being a Hobbit in Bree, because it would be more interesting to have other sorts of people come through now and again.)
Favorite LOTR relationship? (I changed it to "relationship" in general because I'm not very shippy about LotR.) Frodo and Sam are my OG bromance, and I love them to pieces. Closely seconded by Legolas and Gimli.
Tagging @rainintheevening, @sailforvalinor, @valiantarcher, @nowandforalways, and @sustinentiae-spei if you want to do this/haven't already.

Lilies and Soap: 7 - For Ourselves
“Stuck in the same cloud
Why couldn’t I see you?
Too heavy, so we fell
Why couldn’t I feel you?
Splashes of us across the pavement
There was nothing else but you
You, you, you
And we’re here now
We're here now
Darling, we're here now”
“For Ourselves” by Lilies and Soap.
Lyrics by A. E. Bridgerton and K. K. Sharma.
—
“Please kiss me.”
Kate had barely finished the sentence when Anthony surged forward, slamming her body against the car with his. The gasp that escaped her was immediately swallowed by his mouth. Anthony dropped his bag to the ground before roughly grabbing hers from her hands and doing the same, wet pavement be damned. He placed his hands on either side of her neck and pushed her chin up with his thumbs. She welcomed his tongue into her mouth as her hands fisted his jacket.
When it didn’t seem as if she would push him away, one of Anthony’s hands moved to the back of Kate’s head. The other moved down, temporarily stopping at her breast before continuing its journey down to the hem of her pleated skirt. Kate widened her stance to bracket one of Anthony’s legs, pulling him impossibly closer as the rain picked back up just a bit. It didn't deter them.
Again, Anthony waited a few moments for Kate to stop him. When those moments passed, he pulled back to rest their foreheads together, letting them catch their breaths while also allowing himself to look directly into her eyes as he glided his fingers up her inner thigh. Staring back at him, challenging him, Kate pushed his jacket partially off his shoulders and grasped at the neckline of his shirt. It took reaching past her knickers and hearing her sharp intake of breath for Anthony to stop. He took a step back and raised his hand up, forcing himself to ignore Kate’s desperate whimper.
“Shit, Lamb. Let me take you home."
Kate pulled him back to her. "I don't want to wait until we get home." She kissed him again, hard enough to prove her point.
"Mmm," Anthony groaned. "It's raining. Look at where we are."
"Do you want to stop? Just tell me you want to stop."
Anthony growled. "Fuck," he muttered as he moved down her body until he was on his knees, his wet jeans acting as a barrier between him and the pavement.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." She panted. "Please."
All thoughts of propriety were erased from Anthony's mind completely. He ripped one side of her underwear, put a leg over his shoulder, and tucked his head under her skirt. The experience was surreal, doing what they were doing, where they were doing it. The fact that this was Kate. Him and Kate. He'd had no idea, but he had been waiting for this for a long time.
Thankfully, the rain was light enough that Anthony could hear every noise Kate made. Every gasp, whine, and curse. He catalogued each one as the best sounds he'd ever heard. Their own personal soundtrack combined with Kate gripping Anthony's hair spurred him on. He tucked his arm under her leg that was still on the ground and, judging by her yelp, surprised her by jerking it up and onto his other shoulder, so Kate was completely off the ground, supported by the car and Anthony as he kneeled below her.
"Bloody Hell, Tony…" Kate's voice was ragged. "I'm… Shit, yes-yes-yes-yes," she hissed.
Anthony felt her thighs tighten around him as an influx of warmth flooded his senses.
Kate, Kate, Kate.
More of her weight rested on his shoulders as her whole body relaxed. Anthony dutifully and happily held her up, resting his head against her thigh and petting her slick skin. After a minute, he gingerly placed her feet back on the ground and raised himself back up. He became aware of the rain again after having completely forgotten about it while he was worshipping between Kate's legs.
Kate sighed sweetly as she put her head against his chest.
Anthony's voice was hoarse as he leaned down and whispered in her ear. "Are we done, Lamb?"
Kate looked up and drunkenly shook her head as her hand trailed down his body, stopping to rub him through his jeans. Anthony all but snarled when he snatched her wandering hand away.
"Uh-uh. Don't push your luck," he said, a stern edge to his voice. "If you want to finish the job, you'll have to let me take you to mine. Right now."
Kate's kiss was soft and her smile was lazy as she whispered. "Let's go, then, Tony."
—
Kate played with her necklace as they pulled out onto the road, giddy and just a bit nervous.
"How much of that talk that you said you wanted to have can be accomplished during this car ride? Because I have a feeling it's not going to be top of mind once I get you inside my flat," Anthony asked with a touch of arrogance.
Kate smiled, but realised Anthony must not have been able to see her face since he was driving and the car was dark, because he sounded self conscious when he spoke again.
"Lamb, you know we don't have to do anything else, right? I could just take you home like you'd originally wanted."
Kate placed a hand on his thigh, his jeans damp just like the rest of their clothes. "I know we don't have to do anything, Tony. I want to go home with you."
"Good," he whispered.
At a red light, they leaned into each other to share a sweet kiss.
—
The rest of the ride was filled with soft laughs and knowing looks. When they pulled up to Anthony's flat, he got out, and by the time he'd gotten their bags from the backseat, Kate was leaning against the car, waiting for him. He'd seen her like this not even an hour ago and the replay in his head of what happened then– and the reminder that because of what happened, Kate currently wasn't wearing any underwear–had Anthony wondering if he could wait the three minutes it would take them to get inside his flat. But, he decided one round of public sex was tempting fate enough, and they should quit while they were ahead.
"Hi," Anthony said as he extended his hand out to her.
"Hi," Kate returned as she took it.
—
Anthony didn't jump Kate as soon as the door closed behind them, and she didn't mind. She was still a bit out of sorts in a kind of wonderful way from how he'd taken care of her in the car park. It was messy and reckless, but that's how he'd made her feel– cared for. She liked the idea of savouring the moments before whatever came next.
"Lamb, I'm not sure how to say this."
There was distance between them. Kate had moved into Anthony's living room while he’d hung back in the entryway.
"How to say what?"
"You see, I don't want to insist we immediately take our clothes off like an eager creep, but we both got drenched and… Well, we should take our clothes off. I can get you something to wear. You can change in the bathroom. We don't have to–"
"Come here, Tony," Kate beckoned with a sly smile.
Anthony complied without hesitation. In no time at all, he was standing directly in front of Kate. She gave him a kiss, meant to comfort him, reassure him.
She pushed his jacket off his shoulders and down his arms. It was a bit of a struggle, pushing wet clothes off of wet clothes, and the jacket fell unceremoniously to the ground, heavy with rainwater.
"You promised that we could finish the job if I came home with you." Kate kissed Anthony's neck before moving up to brush her lips against his ear. "Right?"
"Mmhmm," he groaned. "But if you want to talk first, we can."
"OK." She undid the buttons of his Henley shirt. "I'm a bit torn."
"About what?" Anthony breathed as he grasped her waist and pulled her closer.
"About what should happen after tonight. We spend so much time together already. It would be so easy to just, I don't know, go from seventy percent to one hundred percent immediately." She dragged her fingers up his ribs as the fabric of his shirt gathered in her hands and waited for him to raise his arms so she could divest him of another damp article of clothing. "Does that make sense?"
"Yeah," he whispered. He kneeled down to take their shoes and socks off, kissing her exposed legs along the way. "And you don't want to move that fast."
Anthony said it like a statement, but she knew it was a question.
"Well, I told you I was torn."
"I understand that." He took his time as he rose from the ground. He caught the hem of her shirt between his teeth and pulled it up along with him, using her hips as leverage. After using his hands to pull it over he head, he kissed just below her ear and inhaled slowly. "I named the band after you."
"Yeah,” she sighed. “I get that now."
"You've always smelled so fucking good." He played with the straps of her bra. "You never thought about what the name meant?"
"No…" Kate slid her hands down Anthony’s chest and abs until she landed on his belt buckle. "I just thought it sounded nice. Soft and sweet."
A moan was Anthony's only response as moved his hands to her back and deftly worked his fingers to undo the clasp of her bra. "Soft and sweet," he whispered as it fell to their feet.
Kate smiled at how unabashedly Anthony was staring at her bare chest. She cupped his chin and gently moved it so he was looking into his eyes. She raised an eyebrow.
"You’re getting distracted. We’re talking, remember?"
"Right." He cleared his throat.
"Do you know how you want to navigate this, Tony?" There was a faint metallic thud as his belt hit the ground.
"I want whatever you want. As long as we aren't a secret."
Kate shook her head as she unzipped his jeans. “I would never want us to be a secret. But there has to be more than that. What's the whole answer?"
“I don’t want to scare you off.” He said, and she was moved by the vulnerability in his voice.
“Tony…” She cupped his face between her hands and kissed him. “Just tell me. Please.”
“Lamb, I would go to one hundred percent right now. You and me, from tonight until forever. I wouldn’t even have to think about it. But if you don’t want that yet, or if you don’t know if you’ll want that at all, I’ll meet you wherever you are. That’s what I want. I just want you.”
Kate’s chest ached at his words as he continued, pulling her to him so she was pressed up against him.
“I’ll follow your lead. Tell me when I’m being too much, when you need space. And I’ll try to keep myself in check as well. Does that sound good?”
She ran her hands down his back until they were tucked in the waistband of his underwear.
“Yeah,” she slid her hands around so she could grip his jeans and underwear and pull them down.
He helped her take them off. Kate took a step back so she could fully appreciate the man standing before her.
“Good talk?” Anthony asked, bringing Kate’s attention back up to his face.
“Good talk,” she said as she moved to pull her skirt down, the last piece of clothing between them. Anthony took a step forward and grabbed her hands. “No?” She raised her eyebrows at him?
He shook his head vehemently. “Absolutely not. That stays on.”
“Really?”
“A short pleated skirt? That’s a classic, baby. Fuck yes, it stays on. Come here.”
Kate didn’t so much come to Anthony as much as he grabbed her by the back of her thighs and hauled her up against him. She wrapped her legs around him as he all but ran to his bedroom.
He sat her on the bed, grabbed a handful of condoms out of a drawer, and tossed them on the top of the side table.
Kate looked over at the pile and smirked. “Ambitious, are we?”
Anthony laughed as he kneeled down in front of her and parted her legs. “Gotta shoot for the stars, Lamb. It’s the only way to live.”
He licked along Kate’s thigh, but she stopped him before he got to his intended destination.
“No, no, no. Come here. I’m ready. Just come here, please.” She was already begging and didn’t give a shit.
“Are you sure?”
She nodded and sheepishly explained. “Actually…I've been ready since we got in the car.”
“Oh, really?” Anthony's smug grin would have been annoying if Kate didn’t need him so badly.
“Ugh, please come here before I remember how much I can’t stand you.
“Can’t have that.” Anthony laughed as he moved Kate further up the bed and climbed up until he was hovering over her. Kate reached down and grabbed him.
“Are you ready, Tony?”
“Ridiculous amounts of ready.” He reached for one of the condoms and rolled it on. Then he paused.
“What?” Kate said, trying to hide her frustration. Before she could fully grasp what was happening, Anthony had flipped them over and sat up so she was straddling his lap.
“There we go.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Better position to appreciate the skirt.

"'Pleasing Smile?'"
It had never really stopped raining. The steady pitter-patter of raindrops hitting Anthony’s bedroom window filled the room as he laid in bed with Kate, playing with her necklace as she drew circles on his chest.
"Of course, 'Pleasing Smile.'" She smacked him playfully.
"What about… Um, was 'Perpetual Commotion’ about me?"
"Yes."
"But… I mean, we hadn’t…"
Kate propped herself up on Anthony’s chest. "Well, I have a very active imagination, Tony."
Anthony’s eyes widened. “Have you thought about me when you… like, touch yourself?
“Many times, especially recently.”
He wrapped his arms around her and squeezed. “Fuck, I think I’m gonna have to lock us in here.”
“Are you telling me you haven’t?”
“Kathani Sharma, what an invasive question. Shame on you.”
She settled back against his chest and he kissed the top of her head.
"We can never perform that song live, by the way.” Anthony said. “I won't be able to stop myself from dragging you off the stage.”
Kate giggled.
“You laugh, but I'm serious. I will find the nearest dark corner. You've been warned."
She sighed contentedly. "Honestly, Tony, most of what I write is about you, about us. Even before I felt the way I feel about you now, I think."
“Yeah,” Anthony rubbed her back. “I know what you mean.”
“And yet…”
“And yet it took so long. Are we idiots?”
“Yes, I think so,” Kate answered sleepily.
“Well, we’re here now.”
“Yeah. We’re here now.
