Writblr do your thing!
I have fallen out of writblr for the bigger part somehow, mostly because the last years were exhausting.
So, sound off.
Who is still active?
Where are my fantasy of all flavor writers? My dragon loving fellas? The worldbuilders? The conlang creators?
Come at me. Well, in the friendly way. Meet at the tavern and talk.
#active? eh yes and no#I have not been writing lately#too much day job#but soon I will have time off#and finally I can write

i gotta say i really do love a character who is both profoundly haunted by guilt over their past actions to the point of considering themself irredeemable and deserving of punishment for them and at the same time is completely incognisant of some of the worst things they've done or just considers them nbd, especially when they can't even comprehend why theyve drawn the lines the way theyve done so.

Thanks for the tag @dyrewrites. Mine will be from "A Night at the Brass Sword', so that it encourages me to finish this damn novel. This tag is OPEN!
[This story is a paranormal ghost story featuring many queer characters; it takes place in a haunted ski resort and lodge. There are horror elements, some romance and comedy too!]
Brass being the name of the lodge, and the name of its original owner, Duncan had assumed it was a gimmick. But now he wondered if Mr. Brass knew of the power of his namesake against restless spirits. Then why would this room not have that same warding? Had Ethan found the one room that the spirits could truly wreak havoc in? “Ethan? Can you hear me?” “Yes.” Duncan moved back suddenly, “Ethan? Open the door if you can! Are you alright, mate? Are you hurt?”

An hour or two—and two more bags of blood—later, fully healed and drying his hair off from a shower, the doorbell rang. Sighing for it, he pulled on what was closest to the bedroom door and headed downstairs.
A blue-black night and shimmering lamps outlined Alda, Aldo and Santino on the other side of the tinted glass door. While a smirking Alessandro wasn’t seen beyond the symbol on it until it was opened. When he did his best to hide how much he appreciated how little Deluca wore...
“Hai bisogno di più tempo?” He asked the blood red silk pants outlining too much, while blocking the view of curious twins—Santino could not be blocked and was grinning.
Checking himself, Deluca scoffed, rolled his eyes, blurred back upstairs and returned in a shirt near as red and silky but thicker pants—gauzy as they appeared, and cream in color, which wasn’t one Alessandro saw him in often, “this better?”
“No,” Santino pouted, earning an elbow.

Here's mine! I will be using Jackal Bellare from The Wild Ones: Bloodlines. Jackal is a demon from the planet Pandemonium (where demons reside in the story's world). Leaving the tag OPEN, go crazy.
Seasoning: Chili Powder
Weather: Warm but cloudy or overcast
Color: Black
Sky: Cloudy
Magic Power:
Plant: Red hot pokers (a summer perennial)
Weapon: Sword
Social media: If he knew what it was, Instagram (to take pictures of himself and hear praise; the man is vain as hell)
Candy: Anything spicy or made of chocolate
Fears: Never being truly loved for who he is
Method of long distance travel: Mirrors (that's a thing on his planet), otherwise he can literally teleport, just not very far
Art style: Gothic Art (reminds him of home)
Stationary: Stark white with black details, very ornate
Celestial body: Sun

I'm answering for two here with 'Lucient and Ludovico' of 'Before Deluca and Bloodhound'.
It'll be Lucient on the left, Ludovico on the right.
Seasoning: Lemon Pepper / Chili powder
Weather: Summer Rain / Warm Autumn afternoon
Color: Silvery Blue / Burgundy
Sky: Thunderclouds / Haze in a heatwave
Magic Power: Ice / Fire (they don't actually have these though >.>)
Plant: Marigolds (for both)
Weapon: Sword (again, both)
Social media: (they're not called this in the current time for them but they function the same so using the names) Facebook (not to post anything but to spy on everyone) / Nextdoor (not technically a social media thing but it's the closest he'd use...and for the same reasons)
Candy: Decadent Chocolates filled with various extra treats / Cinnamon hard candies
Fears: Heights / Megalophobia (these are canon)
Method of long distance travel: Sailing...specifically on a repurposed 18th century French warship
Art style: Baroque / Rococo (Ludovico paints in a Baroque style but I don't associate him with it, he's a Rococo man in my noggin, all obsessed with later French church paintings he can never see in person)
Stationary: Ornate and embossed and so white it burns to look at / Plain in decoration but high quality and cream colored
Celestial body: Moon / Sun

holly. she/her. I'm an author.

Hi I'm Holly— a horror and dark fantasy author drawn to the eerie, the uncanny, and the deeply human moments found in monsters.
I write stories about cursed bloodlines, haunted towns, body horror, creeping forests, and the kind of quiet dread that builds slowly until it bursts. My characters are often outcasts, survivors, and people caught between two impossible choices.
I’m here to:
🗝️ Share snippets, aesthetics, and writing thoughts
🩸 Make friends with other spooky writers
📖 Cheer you on and scream about your wips
🌕 Occasionally vanish into the mist
If you love:
– morally gray characters
– creepy small towns
– slow-burn horror and myth
– and that strange space between grief and magic...
Then come say hi! Let’s haunt this place together.

Happy Pride...buy my books?
No, but really, they're on sale for the month.
[Short] 'In The Marrow' is about Hazel and how she's fine. If she closes her eyes and focuses on her tasks, everything is just fine.
[Short] 'Don't Look' is about a criminal lack of affordable housing forcing a man to take an apartment despite all the red flags. //there's a scene of sexual assault in this one
[Short] 'Can't You See Me?' is about a ghost who would very much like her wife and kids to know she's dead.
[Short] 'The Portrait' is about how Miriam should be happy with what she's got and stop obsessing about the portraits.
[Novella] 'In Fog' is about loneliness and belonging and nonbinary monsters being erotically murderous.
[Short] 'Snowblind' is about you. You're lost in the snowy wastes with a terrible hunger and a sweet voice in your ears.

Nine Lines, Nine People
I was tagged by @flowerprose, thank you! I was tagged on my other account, but I don't write on there. So I will share here instead, hope you don't mind. Here is her share, go check that out too.
My Nine Lines will be from "A Night at the Brass Sword".
Ziva scanned the windows and spotted the woman she saw upstairs. She was near the window, staring down at them. She was still, so still Ziva had mistaken her for a curtain. Then her mouth moved. “What the fuck?” “What?” Kaz asked. “There, second floor East side.” Duncan called out to the team, and everyone looked up. Kaz shook his head and Ziva asked, “Believe me now?”

the wolf & the princess | excerpt part 2
Thus heeding for her father’s warning, Daiva forced her attention behind the Hjarta. On the wall behind the throne hung a large tapestry colored deep red as if soaked in blood. The image of a large pale tree with bright orange leaves took up the center of its beautiful woven threads. Was this the same tree that was held in such high regard in their courtyard? Daiva had assumed the tree was special, but now, as she beheld the tapestry she saw it for what it was: a Varda tree. A magical tree so ancient and mysterious, that held a piece of the Aether within, the source of all magic curling through its very branches. No wonder the wolves kingdom was so vibrant and full of magical energy, why dragons and spirits alike flocked to its deep recesses. King Rytis led his children to stop just a few feet from the throne, close enough that Daiva could see every scar and line in the Queen’s face. She looked only a few years older than Daiva, but the princess knew better than to trust her perceptions in the Kingdom of Wolves. She could be thirty-five, or three hundred. But how did she have scars? Was she not born a werewolf? The King bowed his head, and his children followed his lead once more. Daiva wanted nothing more than to address the Queen herself, her curiosity nearly overtaking her, however, she managed to bite her tongue. “I will allow you to meet my eyes King Rytis. Afterall, you are a powerful and noble guest in my den.” The Hjarta said. “I thank you for such an honor Hjarta.” King Rytis said. “I do apologize for the inconvenience preceding our meeting. I had hoped to avoid any bloodshed for our first interaction.” “I accept the apology, but it is unnecessary. It was clear to us that you did not expect the ambush of the usurper,” the Hjarta shifted in her seat, “Besides, I enjoyed the battle, short-lived as it was.” Daiva was drawn to the Hjarta’s fingers, dangling over the throne’s armrest. They were long and tipped with pale white claws that ended in a deep brown tone. Stained, as though she had been recently digging in soil. Daiva carefully peered around the room at the pack, and noted many of them had the same wicked claws. How many of them were wolves, and how many were something else? The Hjarta's ears were pointed, and long, and when she spoke Daiva spotted the hint of fangs. They were so comfortable showing their feral aspects, so at home with themselves. Daiva longed for such freedom.
