Hmm so is Vivi the main char-no it's Jude okay.....it's the first few pages already have 2 deaths this book is gonna be a rollllller coaster dam. Stupid Madoc. Woah this is such an amazing world. *remembering circle names thinking they are important but they're really not* Incidents that make me seem weak okay Jude what inci- OAK! THAT DAM BABY BE VICIOUS! How old is he again 3? Bruh. Glamour be op. Oooooooooooooo Locke Locke. Tsk Tsk. Looks like he's probably gonna be her bf EEEEEE! He's sooo nice. Hmm? He's the only nice guy in cardan's friend group of course the rest are stupid and arrogant. Oh so Jude wants to be a knight instead of marriage ya go girl! Such a girl bos-......yeah no travelling to some underwater palace with some handsome guy does sound nice thank goodness almost thought you were a pick me Jude. YEAH GET REVENGE ON CARDAN THAT IDIOT! Oh my goodness Jude that poor dude was just flirting around like I would have understood if he touched you buttttt... That poor guy just said stuff. Did you really have to make him bleed? Oh whatever. Looks like your prince dain's spy now and the coronation will happen soon. Things will finally be alright.

All the fake-death and family angst aside, I feel like the Agent 37/Spyral arc should have been given to Tim.

DC is struggling to figure out what Tim wants to do with his life - why not make him a covert spy-op infiltrator? He has the detective skills and tech skills to keep himself off-grid. He is just as toxically self-sufficient as Bruce. He's the type to have backup fake identities to his backup fake identities. He's one of the few Batfamily members that wouldn't just manage to stay undercover for a few months - he could do it for years, and he could thrive in that environment. His morals are looser than Dick's and Bruce's, but he still follows orders better than Damian or Jason. He'd be the perfect double agent.

I mean, if it were me, I'd make Tim's parents part of the Court of Owls, make the Court a worldwide organization, and have Tim's life goal be dismantling every Court operation around the world. But perhaps that's too much canon divergence for some. That's ok.

Even the family angst plays into Tim's character. Having to go off grid for so long, go months, years without contact... He might start to wonder if he even matters to the family. He checks in on them periodically to make sure they're okay, and they're just fine. At first, he's relieved. But after awhile, he's hurt. He's glad they're fine, but don't they miss him? He wishes they were a little sad he was gone - then hates himself for thinking that way.

He throws himself into his work to keep himself from that train of thought, because he's taken that line before and he doesn't like where it leads. It all leads to the family having to pull him out every so often to reassure him that they love him, that he is irreplaceable in the family, and that he can come home whenever he wants to. After one too many extractions, they start making holiday attendance mandatory and Tim starts to get a better handle on work-life balance.

Idk. I'd like to read some Tim Drake spy adventures. I think he'd be great, and I think you could get at least a decade of great stories with him stretching his wings a little. Give him his own enemies in the spy world - hackers, assassins, people with just as many false identities as he has... It could be awesome.

Watsonian reason: Someone needed to deal with the key and the foot. the turtles and splinter got wrecked by the krang fight. April is staying to help with their recovery and she still has college. So the Casey's are the only people that can drop everything and go to japan

Plus family bonding trip!

Also we got the idea from ell.

Doylist reason: Didn't want to write them. They, as characters, wouldn't contribute in any way outside of the very end of the last arc. So they'd just be bloat. They're more useful outside the narrative than in it.

Also the original draft had casey jr be straight up non-existant.

I'm a little bit insane about how in novel canon the whole xiyao ending where Jin Guangyao wants to die with Xichen, who accepts, which then makes jgy change his mind and pushes him away at the last second isn't actually explicit. A lot of adaptations chose to make it so but in the novel this is all VERY up for interpretation.

Here's what actually happens in the text: Lan xichen stabs jgy, jgy moves away from lan xichen, xichen follows him, wwx realizes jgy is about to open the coffin and calls "watch out!" to lan xichen. Jgy unseals nmj, pushes xichen away, nmj kills jgy and they are both dragged into the coffin which is sealed again.

Here's what wei wuxian, our narrator, thinks is happening: Jin Guangyao wanted to lead lan xichen to his death out of revenge for stabbing him. Lan Xichen, unaware, simply followed Jin Guangyao to try and stop him from getting away. Wei wuxian's warning came too late, but Jin Guangyao- for an unknown reason- changed his mind at the last second and pushed lan xichen out of danger before lan xichen had any idea of what was going on.

Here's what most fans as well as the teams behind several adpatations think is happening: Jin Guangyao leads Xichen to nmj's coffin to die with him, Xichen accepts, because of this acceptance, proof xichen still cares for him, Jin Guangyao pushes him out of harm's way. Wei Wuxian just doesn't get that gay people who aren't him or Lan Wangji exist.

Here's what ALSO MIGHT BE HAPPENING: Jin guangyao wants to die in a different way than he is currently dying. Maybe he's afraid of what'll happen to his body after his death like he was scared for his mother's, maybe he wants to confront nmj one last time now that there's nothing more for him to lose, maybe - if he can't take her body with him- he'd at least like his final resting place to be where he buried his mother. Lan Xichen thinks he's trying to get away and follows but Jin Guangyao, who despite everything doesn't want him to die, pushes him away. Xichen doesn't know what happened until it's already happened. What he would've wanted if he had known remains up in the air.

Or, alternatively: Jin Guangyao's reasons are as above, but unbeknowst to Wei Wuxian, Xichen DOES know what jgy is about to do and either misinterprets this as an invitation to all die together, or inidividually decides he, too, is done, and wants to join his sworn brothers in the grave. To Jin Guangyao this has nothing to do with Lan Xichen, and he still doesn't want him to die, so he pushes him away against Lan Xichen's wishes.

Every single one of these interpretations is unhinged and they are all supported by the original text. It's like a choose your own adventure of tragic gay endings.

And thus, with the passing of 24 hours, Caeru's ambition truly comes to an end. Major Nemesis spoilers below the cut- we're talking endgame ambition business here. Mostly on a character RP front.

The Doomed Scientist made quite a few... choice decisions, in the end. Killing Cups once and for all, recording his story as one of grief-

And sparing what little remained of Mr Mirrors, leaving it free to roam Parabola as it sees fit.

Some of them, he can explain. Others, he's still left to feel... discontent.

Cups needed to die. That much was certain from the start. It was a tyrant, as all Masters are, and complicit in the bargaining and eventual destruction of four (potentially five) cities, as all Masters are. It was an obstacle. A murderer. A petty monster that felt no remorse even on its deathbed, and it went out of its way to ruin multiple lives just because it felt owed its own sick and twisted idea of revenge.

It killed his first love. It looked him in the eyes and he knew what it had done and he knew from the start it was going to die.

Perhaps, in the end, it knew too. And yet it still pleaded, and wanted to live, and-

It made a bargain.

A bargain Caeru didn't take.

Not because he didn't want to. Gods, he wanted to. He wanted it. He wanted it more than anything else in the world. To have Greylu back, to give him the gift of life, of love, to show him the wonders of the Neath and the beauty of the correspondence and all of the people Caeru has met and loved and found home with along the way-

But. He couldn't.

Because Cups was a monster. And no matter what, it deserved to die. And he could not, in good conscience, allow it to live.

Even if sparing it meant everything he's ever wanted.

So he's left here, now. With a bloodied traveling coat, and a bloodsoaked knife, and a favor finally fulfilled.

And nothing to live for. No resurrected lover, no charming visits to Helicon, no slow dances in the living room, no memories to rebuild and lives to live and he won't live again-

Nothing. All he has is a coat born of obligation, not to his love, but to people he's never even met. To lives he's never even touched. To a paramour, still alive, with hair of rose-pink, who doesn't even remember her own brother's existence.

Cups didn't die for Caeru's sake. Cups died for the sake of all who wanted it dead. For the revenger's court, and the ghost screaming in his ear, and the reckoning that will not be postponed indefinitely.

And Caeru, who acted as a tool to carry out their wills? Who all but betrayed his own lover, just to satisfy a cause he never knew existed?

All Caeru is left with, is regret. Regret-

-And grief.

my third time starting a new minecraft world has been Much more successful than my first two times. on account of how i spawned in an area that kind of had things like iron and sheep and a coastline (I GET LOST VERY EASILY) and I didn’t get immensely frustrated trying to find Anything At All. I did however try to get two sheep near me, realize very quickly that that’s really hard without wheat, break both leads I got, dig a ton of stupid holes trying to get the sheep into it, kill one sheep out of pure choices in anger rage, then realize you can’t make a bed with two different colors of wool after I had already killed the sheep,

the very core question of the apocalypse au is "what if the world was JUST racecars. what would they do, what would that be like"

the entire thing is built off that one silly question. strip away the elaborate support systems of nervous horsepower-riddled beasts and force them to do the impossible or die? yes.

doesn't mean that the only survivors are racecars. nothing in life is absolute so there's a randomness factor. (but most of them are).

it's morphed into some big angsty monster beyond that original pitch, but that was the spark that lit the inferno.

seems like you all enjoy my rambles! great. anyways it kinda sucks how few deaths in avos and tbc felt narratively satisfying. i think it's kind of a given that deaths will seem less cool when they are given to long-running characters without much room for buildup of their death, or nothing background characters being killed off-screen to reduce numbers rather than being written specifically to die like they were in the first arc etc but stilllll
